Recovery Of An MMO Junkie Review

Anime fans you've seen me review alot of anime movies before but the one thing you've never seen me do is a review an anime series well as of right now that all changes as i proudly present my review of Recovery Of An MMO Junkie.

The plot of the series is Moriko Morioka is a 30-year-old single NEET woman. After dropping out from reality she has taken off in search for a fulfilling life and ended up in a net game or "netoge." In the netoge world she began her new life as a refreshing and handsome character named Hayashi. While starting out as a beginner a pretty character named Lily reached out to help her. Meanwhile in the real world awaits a shocking encounter with a good looking elite company employee a mysterious blue-eyed blonde. I have to say that i really enjoyed the whole story for the show and i never really knew where it was going ok i'll admit i guessed how somethings would play out in episode 1 but apart from that i had no clue where we end up and i liked that.

Now since i've only seen this dubbed i'm only judging the dub cast with that that said the dub cast does include the likes of Terri Doty , Aaron Dismuke , Natalie Hoover , Josh Grelle and Ian Sinclair. Overall i thought the acting was shockingly good and i say that because i had no clue at all what to expect from this series and some of the show more dramatic moments are helped more by the cast and director and writer for the show.

I have to admit that until the final episode i never got what the recovery aspect of the show was but i think i've got it now and to me at least that aspect is the fact that Morioka (the female lead) is trying to move forward in her life and she's trying to get over her self esteem issues but then again i could be wrong completely and if i am please do feel free to tell me so in the comments below.

The actual animation was done by Signal. MD and i have the animation for me at least was a bit of a let down yes it's not movie quality but it's barely TV quality that's not to say things don't look nice and that there isn't alot of effort put into it but there's a lot of scenes in the scenes which just look off and they could have done with another drawing to help make the scene look better.

Another thing i actually found refreshing was the fact that even tho this has the comedy label it's not an out and out comedy in fact it plays up alot more of the dramatic aspects then it does the comedic ones yes there are a few funny moments here and there but they aren't the focus of the show it's characters are and that's where the good acting comes into play.

I do have to say tho that after watching all ten episodes i can totally see where they could go if the show produces a second season and it would make sense given how the show ends weather or not it would be the right fit for the characters tho i'm not to sure.

Despite having an the name MMO in it's title the show only spends i'd say around 50% of it's total time in an actual game with the rest of the time being spent in the real world and that's great if you don't like anime set inside a game which honestly at this point there's way to many of those but if your like and you don't mind those shows then you'll be a little disappointed as we never really get to know the world where the game is set and that's a shame because it looks like a visually interesting world.

Overall i'd say if you like either romance , slice of life or comedy anime then you might like this show as you guess from this review i really liked the show and yes i know there's technically an episode 11 but it was released as an OVA so in my mind that doesn't count so i give Recovery Of An MMO Junkie a solid 7.5 out of 10.

Some Animated Films Coming Out In 2018

2018 is no longer upon us it's here and that means we get a whole host of new movies to talk about but for this list i'm only looking at the animated side of things and please note i won't be listing all of the animated films coming out this year only a small handful and not all of them will be good so here we go.

Isle Of Dogs

This film written and directed by Wes Anderson looks fantastic and looking at the cast list on Wikipedia i can say that the cast is freaking impressive we have the likes of Bryan Cranston , Edward Norton and Bill Murray among many more providing voices.

Woody Woodpecker

Yeah when I said some of the films on this list might not be good this was one of the films I was talking about but that doesn't change the fact that it's happening nor does it change the fact that Woody looks hideous and is really freaking annoying.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight

There's going to be alot of DC animated films coming out this year but Gotham By Gaslight is the one that comic book fans are excited about the most now i havn't read the original story but i do know that the movie features Batman taking on Jack The Ripper.

Early Man

As you guys know i'm a fan of Aardman Animations and this film looks like Aardman at there best it also helps that they a pretty good cast with the likes of Eddie Redmayne , Tom Hiddleston and game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams all doing voices for the film.

Duck Duck Goose

This is one film where i have no clue if it will be good or not i mean parts of the trailer look funny but then it cuts to something like a fart joke so we will have to wait and see on this one.

Incredibles 2

There you go guys Incredibles 2 is on this list since there's no full trailer for the film released yet i can't fully say if this will be good or not but going of the teaser trailer i can say it will at least be entertaining and we all know this will make a killing because of the fact it has a die hard fan base.

Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold

When i first saw the trailer for this film i laughed and not because it looked good but because for me the film looked pretty bad and yes i know Scooby has teamed up with Batman before but the two franchises do not occupy the same fictional world so how are they going to explain the Scooby gang suddenly bumping into the DC gang? It makes no sense at all.

Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero

To prove that not all animated films have to comedy's we have this little gem it's based on a true story about a dog who becomes a hero during World War 1 and i have to say it looks to be truly heart breaking and heartwarming and i look forward to seeing it.

Smallfoot

There's only been a teaser released for this film but i will say that based of that teaser the film does look to be pretty funny of course weather or not that turns out to be true or not only time will indeed tell.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

This is the film which had a trailer that took the internet by storm and it's not hard to see why the film looks amazing and for once we have someone other then Peter Parker being Spider-Man we now have fan favorite Miles Morales in the tights and in his first ever film.

My Top 10 Favorite NXT Women

Now i don't usually let people know this unless they know a secret handshake after which they have to be taken a train station in Manchester and wait for a man in a black suit who will then tell them that i am indeed a wrestling fan and here are my top 10 favorite female wrestlers who are either currently in or once wrestled for NXT.

10) Becky Lynch

This Irish lass-kicker has been kicking butt on the main roster for a few years and while she's not the most successful she is certainly one of the most talented. She's not seen a championship for a few months but there might be a good reason for that as she's been cast in the new Marine movie.

9) Alexa Bliss

She is 5 feet worth of fury and as well as being a talent in the ring she's also quite the cosplayer with her cosplaying as Freddy Krueger and Harley Quinn among many more honestly if she keeps on going on the path she's on now i can very easily see her becoming a Hall Of Famer one day.

8) Paige

This superstar has had a troubled time with the WWE with to many suspensions to count but that doesn't take away from the fact she is bundles of talent and is actually a twelve year veteran of the ring. She's had alot of great matches both in NXT and on the main roster with her match against Emma for the NXT women's championship being in my opinion both girls best matches.

7) Emma

Unlike most of the girls on this list Emma is sadly no longer with the company which is a huge shame since she was a great talent in the ring but the last said about that awful Emmalina debut the better and the same goes for the time she was fired because she was caught stealing.

6) Carmella

Who would have thought back in 2013 that Carmella would not only still be around but would also be the first (at least by WWE terms) winner of the women's money in the bank. I admit when she first came onto the scene i didn't think she'd last long but honestly i've become a bit of a fan of hers she an infectious amount of energy and that really does show.

5) Billie Kay

Like Paige she is a ten year vet when it comes to wrestling and she's only 28 years old the only way is up for this young talent that's really all i can say about her right now plus her music is really good and i hope we see more of her in the future.

4) Bayley

I've been a fan of hers since day one and it's great to see her finally on the main roster .........................................for about five minuets then you see how badly she's being booked but she is still a great young talent at least when she's used in the right way.

3) Kairi Sane

Ever since i saw her in the Mae Young Classic i was hooked on her now i havn't seen her matches in NXT but if there anything like the matches she was having in the Mae Young Classic then i have some videos to watch.

2) Charlotte

Success is in this girls DNA and i think it's safe to say she inherited her dads wrestling skills Charlotte can have a good match with anyone if any current female wrestle is bound for the Hall Of Fame she is surely one of them.

1) Asuka

Not only is she smart but she's also extremely dangerous she's able to knock people out with a single kick to the head if she wants to and it will be soon before she's holding the raw women's championship and then the division better watch out.

A Thought I Had While Watching A Silent Voice

You know I was watching A Silent Voice on Blu-Ray today and a thought popped into my head and that thought was "this would make a good live action hollywood movie" but after I had that simple thought I started thinking of the over two Blu-Rays I had lying there and i thought to my self "which one would make the best live action movie" so here I am and I'm going to list reasons why I think each one would make a good live action hollywood movie.

In This Corner Of The World

In all honesty out of all three films this one would be the hardest one to adapt not because it's based on an anime or anything like that but because it's so rooted in Japanese culture whoever was to end up writing and directing the film would have the challenge of having to set the film in the same time period and the same country as the original film but I do believe that with the right team behind it that it can be done but it would absolutely need to handled with care.

This film would most likely not get remade since it's not gotten as much media attention like Your Name did and like I said before it's so rooted in Japanese culture so you can't just change the names to american names and change the setting to insert american city here so I really have no clue how this could be done but if it's done the right way and with the right people then this could be a good film.

A Silent Voice

Out of all three movies this one would actually be the cheapest movie to make you could very easily make this movie for $5 - 10 million and you wouldn't loose a thing because it's all there all ready they story is all ready perfect as are the characters all the director would have to do is point the camera at the actors and yell action. This is also a universal story so it could very easily be adapted for American audiences and you won't even need to simplify things for them either since pretty much any one could understand the story.

Like I said before this one most likely won't even get considered for a live action remake because of the lack of media attention but that doesn't mean it won't one day happen I mean look at Ghost In The Shell when that movie came out it wasn't given a huge amount of media attention and it got a live action movie. The other downside is since there's not alot of action the average movie goer might be get bored and that might force the studio to add in some kind of action scene in a film that really doesn't need any.

Your Name

This one's difficult to write about since it's already getting a live action movie from hollywood but it could be done since the story is a universal story because at it's heart it's about two people falling in love with each other and how that love can literally over come time and space. Just based on what I just said it sounds like it would difficult to adapt and yeah it will be I'm not gonna lie but it's not impossible either and with J.J. Abrams producing it I have a feeling the right people will come on board.

Here tho the downside comes not from the original film but rather from fans of the original film since this film was getting alot of attention and it has a lot fans it means you can't really change much of the story which in turn could stifle creativity so I would have to ask any fans of the film and this includes myself just to roll with whatever stuff comes out about the new movie.

Where I Would Rate Three Great 2017 Anime Films

Hello there anime fans this has most likely been the best year for anime films with films like A Silent Voice and In This Corner Of The World proving that really anyone can enjoy anime and if you want to be technical you can also include Your Name in that list as well since it had it's American debut in 2017 and i thought i'd tell you which out of those three films i liked the most and yes i checked all of these films had an American release date of 2017.

3) Your Name

This might surprise alot of you anime fans that a film everyone else loves is at the bottom of this list well that's because by the time i got round to watching the movie it was so over hyped it's a good film yes but i don't think it's as good as everyone says it is.

2) A Silent Voice

Ever since a friend told me about this movie i was so intrigued by it and it did not let me down at all heck when i first heard about the movie i went online and read the first few issues of the manga and i cried and i give the makers of the film credit for taking on a difficult subject matter and in a way this film has pushed boundaries since the lead actress in the english language version is death.

 1) In This Corner Of The World

In This Corner Of The World is so beautiful and it's very moving honestly there's nothing in this film that i don't love heck i even love the strange art work which for some reason reminds of 2006's The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and it my eyes that's not bad thing and i love the fact this film really isn't afraid to punch you in the gut.

Guys in truth i love all of these films so putting this in any kind of order was always going to be hard but that goes to show how good these films and if you havn't already i recommend you buy them all on either DVD or Blu-Ray heck the films are so good i asked for and got all three for Christmas.

My Top 5 Best Films Of 2017

Welcome back movie fans to my top 5 best films of the year and to be frank it's been a pretty mixed year for films so making this list really hasn't been easy especially deciding which one should be number 1 and which number 2 because there both so good so here we go.

5) The Disaster Artist

I've only just recently reviewed this movie so i won't go into to much detail here but i will say that you should believe the hype surrounding this movie it's that good it's such a funny film that packs in alot of heart.

4) Power Rangers

I may be one of the few people who actually enjoyed the Power Rangers reboot since i grew up with the original 90's show for me it was full of nostalgia and if you watched the original series you'd get alot of the in jokes and references plus it was just a pure fun movie to watch.

3) War For The Planet Of The Apes

Oh my god this film is just so amazing it's the perfect end to the perfect trilogy this film was actually one of the films that made me cry (coco was the other one btw) everything in this movie is done so well i cannot say enough great things about this movie because everything i could say has already been said by far more better people then me.

2) Logan / Wonder Woman

This really was a pretty great year for superhero movies and for me the best two superhero movies were Logan and Wonder Woman as they both blew away people's expectations until Logan came around the wolverine movies weren't that good and until Wonder Woman came around the DCEU was struggling. They were also full of memorable scenes who can forget the awesome no man's land scene in Wonder Woman or the heart breaking third act or any scene with X-23 in Logan.

  1) Dunkirk

I had a tough choice to make do i put Dunkirk at number 1 or do i put either Logan or Wonder Woman and i went with Dunkirk because this was an all round great film and it doesn't shy away from telling you how these characters really would have felt for me this movie wasn't about the big action sequences it was about the people in them and that's why this movie is number 1.

Doctor Who "Twice Upon A Time" Review

Hello there doctor who fans it's that time of the year again where i look back at the most recent christmas special and this special is also a regeneration episode so it has a lot to live up to so here we go.

Ok the basic premise of the episode is The Doctor is refusing to regenerate and he bumps into his first self and Bill and has to stop something which may or may not be deadly. I'm not gonna spoil the twist with the villains in this review because honestly it's really good and really refreshing but i will say that story wise the episode is lacking but the pacing for the episode was spot on.

Returning as Bill and The Doctor we have Peter Capaldi , David Bradley and Pearl Mackie and they all turn in fine performances which honestly from Peter and David is something you really expect at this point and you could say the same for Pearl as well. They are joined by Steven Moffat's BFF Msrk Gatiss and honestly when i heard he was in the episode i had no idea of what to expect from him so i'm glad to say he's really good in this episode.

In all honesty this episode was not what i was expecting at all there's very little action in it and there's that great twist with the villains so i really don't know what i can mention because of how strange the episode truly was.

As a regeneration episode for me this episode doesn't hold up well against something like Time Of The Doctor because in that episode all of the heart that was in the episode felt real where as here it just comes across as forced like there trying to force these moments on you and it just doesn't work well at all.

Overall this was a strange episode to watch which is why this review is so short but fear not for i will be working on a review of Shada sometime soon but i give Twice Upon A Time a solid 7.5 out of 10.
