Doctor Who: Deep Breath Review

It's always exciting seeing a post regeneration episode as you never know exactly what it is your going to get. Well that was also the case with the episode that i'm going to be reviewing today as this episode comes on the heels of not one but two very successful runs on the show and so to say that was alot riding on this episode was a huge understatement and so then join me as I review the episode that saw two versions of two characters debut with the episode in question being called simply just "Deep Breath" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when a dinosaur appears in the middle of Victorian London it's up to a freshly regenerated Doctor to find out what's going on. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with this episodes plot doing a good job of setting up the plot for the season and telling a really good individual story in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Peter Capaldi as The Doctor , Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald and Neve McIntosh as Madame Vastra , Catrin Stewart as Jenny Flint , Dan Starkey as Strax , Peter Ferdinando as The Half-Face Man , Paul Hickey as Inspector Gregson , Tony Way as Alf , Maggie Service as Elsie , Brian Miller as Barney , Ellis George as Courtney , Michelle Gomez as Missy and Matt Smith as The Doctor.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With all of this episodes cast members turning in some really good performances which isn't that surprising as Peter Capaldi is a really good actor and the same thing is true for alot of this episodes cast members as well.

Doing the CGI for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Milk and BBC Wales VFX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty alot better then what I remember it being with the CGI dinosaur looking really good as does the CGI London.

This episode is technically the final episode to feature Matt Smith as The Doctor as he did film a cameo scene at the end of this episode. I have to admit that while his cameo does make sense for Clara's arc in this episode it was also kind of distracting as all it does is remind fans of a really popular version of The Doctor which is something that you really shouldn't be doing when your trying to win those fans back other with this new version of The Doctor which is a shame because his dialog about this new version of The Doctor is scared and needs Clara's help is very well done.

I will admit that having the characters of Jenny , Madame Vastra and Strax appear in this episode was a smart move. As apart from Clara they are the only characters that the audience will recognize and so having them appear together in a post regeneration episode does serve as a great way to ease your audience into this transition between Doctors as those characters can now serve as avatar's for the audience and so when they trust The Doctor hopefully as the audience will also be won over and start to trust The Doctor as well.

I'm not a fan of The Doctor killing anyone or anything as to me that would make him no better then the enemies that he fights and so seeing him kill someone off in this episode just didn't sit right with me. As that's not in his DNA to do so and for him to do so even if it's somewhat of a last resort just seems out of character which granted might be the point but given that we as audience members are still trying to learn if we can trust this version of the character or not having him kill someone in his first episode just doesn't work as something that dramatic should be earned and that is simply not the case with the death in this episode.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and sixteen minuets and twenty nine seconds. Which was a tad bit of a long running time for this episode to have as it really doesn't have alot their in terms of either plot or story to cover that large amount of running time and as such we spend alot of time with the characters just doing nothing or just going about their day to day lives which is fine for a scene or two but we get more then handful of scenes that are like that and it gets very boring very quickly and this isn't helped by the fact that episode does have some fairly bad pacing to it.

So now then since this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really bad. As you couldn't really see alot of it due to the fact that there was a cut every couple of seconds which made this episodes big action set piece near unwatchable at best and just flat out bad at it's absolutely worst in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this wasn't a bad way to introduce the world to new a Doctor but this episode does get a little bit to ridiculous which is something that I can see putting of people of but this is still a rather enjoyable episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that means that this very episode earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com , the official Doctor Who fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the wonderful the official Doctor Who fandom wiki page since all of the images that are currently up and and featured / presented to us on the official Doctor Who fandom wiki page are all fairly high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
