Disney fans perhaps no era is perhaps more beloved then it's renaissance era when the house of mosue was producing hit film after hit film. Well one of the leading films of that era has just turned thirty years old and to celebrate that anniversary Disney have aired a special that combines the animated with live action footage and so then join me as I review the special that is quite easily better then the The Liitle Mermaid Live with the special in question being called simply just "Beauty And The Beast: A 30th Celebration" enjoy.
I don't really think that I need to tell you the plot of this special as it's the exact same plot as the film. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad I say this because this special does cut out quite alot of scenes from the film and that really does effect the overall plot of the film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this special is , Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson a.k.a. H.E.R. as Belle and singer Josh Groban as The Beast. Also starring in this special is , Rita Moreno as The Narrator , Joshua Henry as Gaston , Martin Short as Lumiere , David Alan Grier as Cogsworth , Rizwan Manji as LeFou , Jon Jon Briones as Maurice , County singing and songwriting legend Shania Twain as Mrs. Pott and .Leo Abelo Perry as Chip.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special was in all honesty pretty decent. However alot of this specials cast are quite clearly better singers then they are actors.
What made this special truly stand out to me is that it felt like a love letter to the film that this special is celebrating. This is something is quite noticeable in the specials version of "Belle" where we see a piece of animation paper animating Belle before this specials version of the character even steps into frame and heck we even get a song from the dreadful 2017 remake as well.
I'm going to be honest here this special is so much better then the The Little Mermaid Live was. Just beecause of the fact that this film actually didn't try and lie to you and the fact that this special really didn't have any king of nightmare fueling puppets portraying supposedly friendly characters all of which went a really long way in making this special all that more better then what the The Liitle Mermaid Live was.
Very sadly tho it's not all good about this special tho since this special did have some things init that I didn't like. Take for example the fact that this special has The Beast appear in his human form quite early on in the film which kind of takes the surprise and wonder of what this character truly looked like and threw it all away and the other thing that I didn't like was the fact that the The Beasts costume while rather cool and scary looking revealed far to much of the actor playing him and so your just reminded that this is a character which did take me out of the special quite a bit of the time.
The songs in this special I thought were really well done with the best one being "Gaston" which was done in such a fun way that I ended up applauding it when it was finished. Not all of the songs are done well tho since even tho the song "Beauty And The Beast" is sung really well Shania Twain just can't match the vocals of the late Angela Lansbury and such what should be this really moving song about two outcasts essentially finding Live in each other just comes across as being rather flat and I dare it but also rather boring as well.
Now then this special has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty seven minuets and forty one seconds. Which is a bit of a short running time for this special to last since it dies cut out alot of stuff from the film and as such I think that this special should have been at the very least one hour and thirty five just so that they could do the entire film alot of justice.
So now then since this is a romance film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual romance that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual romance that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty pretty badly done. This is again due to the fact that the special cuts out so much from the film and when you can't even get the romance right in one of the most romantic film that Disney has made then you've done something wrong in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall like I said this special was quite easily alot better then the The Liitle Mermaid Live and seeing what they can now with the costumes it does make me wonder what they've got planned for The Lion King thirtieth anniversary and I can see alot of people really liking this special because it's that damned good in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very special in this very review and as such that means that this very special erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.
