X-Men '97 "Tolerance Is Extinction" Review

In a few short days time the second season of the second greatest X-Men animated series behind of course X-Men: The Animated Series returns for more new episodes. It is safe to say that X-Men '97 was everything that a good revival should be as it respected what came before it but then it pushed things in directions that we never expected it to and as I was not only a huge fans of the original animated series growing up as a kid but I also watched every single episode of this revival when it was first airing you all just knew that I had to produce a tie in review for this second season and well what better tie in the first season finale and so then join me as I review the episodes that see the X-Men get pushed beyond there breaking points with the episodes in question being called simply just "Tolerance Is Extinction" enjoy.

The plot of these episodes is Bastion launches his plan to take over the world by turning humans into living breathing Sentinels forcing the X-Men to fight like they have never thought before but something far more sinister lurks beneath the surface which will change the team as we know them. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. To put it frankly the plot of these episodes isn't just TV good it's movie quality good as you can very easily see the plot for these episodes being the plot of an X-Men movie. As the plot does give you all of the drama and it raises all of the stakes to not only get you hooked into what's going on but it also keeps you wondering just what is going to happen next and while yes the plot could have been alot more stronger in some places as some characters arcs don't really get resolved but at the same time tho this is a plot that does give you everything that you want to see with it feeling more in line with the classic X-Men show then what they were doing in the movies at the time, yet at the same time tho there are things in the third part of this part finale that do feel undercooked like the stuff with Magneto and Charles which does go nowhere in the grand scheme of things and yet even that is still some really interesting stuff, plot wise this is pretty much the perfect X-Men finale plot as it does give you all of the cool stuff with the characters whilst also giving you a plot that you could see working really well in an X-Men movie with the plot of these episodes also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. The fact that we have alot of really good acting in all three of these episodes is something that's not really all that surprising as alot of the actors that re in these episodes are either A a bunch of really good actors in there own right or B are reprising their roles from the original show either way it does make sense that the acting in all three of these episodes would be top notch and heck the same could even be said for the acting in the whole first season of the show as a whole. With the best actor in all of these episodes being Lenore Zann as Anna-Marie Raven / Rogue as she does give us a Rogue that is very much filled with rage and hate and yet the same time you can tell that there is a sadness in her eyes with her knowing full well that what she's doing isn't who she is as a person and is only acting this way as she has lost the love of her life with this being somethin Lenore does just by using her voice and it something that does get across just what this character s thinking and feeling at any given moment in these episodes and it is something that really does shine through in her final performance. With the acting that's in these episode really being helped by the fact that the scripts for these episodes is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in these very episodes.

Doing the animation for these episodes is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Studio Mir. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. These episodes animation was alot more better then what it really had any right to be as while yes the animation in the rest of the show was drop gorgeous at times there was no guarantee that that would be the case in these final three episodes as the makers of these episodes could have dropped the ball animation wise. Thankfully they did not as these episodes do maintain the series already high bar when it comes to its animation by giving us lots of really nice looking background and creative scenes that could only work in the realm of animation, this is something that the original series did as well and it was fun to see that trend continue in these three episodes and heck the characters do get some really fluid movements to them which is something that does make them feel alot more alive but the issue when it comes to the animation being the fact that there are some shots that do look a little weird when the characters are standing still and the episodes action doesn't get as fluid animation as the rest of the episodes get and while these are indeed small things that don't really harm the episodes on the whole they are also things that could have been fixed before the episodes got released as they are things that the people watching these episodes will notice.  

The one common theme threw all three of these episodes is the idea of dreams and how they can be used to either do some good or turn into something that we are not. Like for example with Rogue as she has just lost Gambit the love of her life and therefor her faith in Xaviers dream of a world where Mutants and humans can liv side by side is shaken because of the fact that she doesn't want to loose another friend or loved one with this temporarily turning her into a villain with the same thing being true for Sunspot as after his mother turned him in just for being a mutant he doesn't know who or what to believe anymore so again he sides with Magneto much like Rogue herself does this is something that does make the two characters the very thing that they both not as they not bad people and yet because of the fact that they've both had there faith shaken in different they are forced to become these new people even if its for a little while. The same thing is true for the villains as well as we see Bastion get his dream tested when the X-Men tell him that his beloved mother lied to him and that Charles had come to visit him but that she turned him away whilst this doesn't force him to change his dream it does cause him to somewhat faulter in his dream and the same thing is true for Magneto as he has spent so long being evil that he forgot that he and Charles shared the sake goal only Magneto somewhere along the way did have his ream more warped into what it was during the original series run with it only being when Charles confronts him inside his own mind that he does remember what his original dream was and while it will of course be hard to say if the character is changed for good just based off of what we see in the final moments of the third part of this episode it does seem like Magneto has become more of an anti-hero, these episodes do a good job of showing us just what the power of having a dream can have on us as it can make us into great people or it can drown us and become warped because f the things that we go through in life.

Shockingly this episodes does also include alot of silent cameos from other nineties Marvel animated heroes. As we get both Spider-Man and Peter Parker not only taking part in helping New York City but also finally being reunited with Mary Jane but we also get Doctor Strange , Daredevil and Iron Man all of which were really fun to see as these characters do all live in the same city and therefor they would of course all be willing to help out should a threat come that's two big for any of them to handle and with alot of them having already crossed over with each other before now it does make sense that they would reappear in this episode. With the only downside to this being the fact that alot of them are just relegated to being silent cameos with the only two that get speaking lines being Captain America and T'Chaka who may or may not be Black Panther in this universe as it would have been really cool to hear Spider-Man having a chat with Mary Jane or it would have been awsome to see Daredevil and Spider-Man helping each other out bottom line being here is that there was alot of really cool things that the makers of these episodes could have dine with these characters and while fair enough it might have been seen as being over kill to have all of these heroes play even a small role in these episodes given the fact that the fanbase for this show does skew alot more older then the typical Marvel animated show does it would have been fun to see these characters that we knew as kids talk once again and while it was still great that we got to see them at all does feel like a let down and fair enough this is an X-Men show and therefor you want the focus to be on them but if your going to go out of your way to include several scenes with them then at least have them do or say something that does feel true to there character as there s no way that Tony Stark would just be standing in a room whilst all of this is going down.

Bastion is such a cool idea for a villain with him being someone who like DCs Cyborg can hear machines only he takes it in a more villainous route by using them to build Sentinels that are merged with human beings. Thus making it hard to tell who is a robot and who isn't with this being something that all three of these episodes handle really well as we see that characters that we thought were allies to the X-Men were actually robots this whole time with the only thing that could have made this all the more better being if some of those allies had helped them out in previous episodes and had gotten close to various members of the team as this is something that would make that big reveal at the end of part one be all the more shocking. To be fair to these episodes they do take it about as far as they possibly could have done with humans being robots as they are mainly used as a distraction for our heroes and to give Bastion his own robot army with this being something that does show us the audience that he really does think about two or three steps ahead of everyone else with it only being when the X-Men start to do the same thing that they actually start to gain an advantage over him and this is something that a good villain should do as a good villain should always force the hero to be better and to think outside of the box, heck we even get to find out why Bastion is evil as we find out that he's been hearing machines since he was a kid with being something that does slowly drive him crazy to the point where he thinks that the only way to get rid of the talking in his head is to destroy the X-Men and is to turn humans into robots that could kills them with him even having seen a future where he did succeed and was actually happy and heck he even turned his own mother into a Sentinel as that's how far of the deep end he had gone.

Now then these episodes has / had an exact grand total running time of really no longer then forty minuets. With episode one being thirty one minuets and twenty six seconds , episode two being twenty minuets ad twenty one seconds and episodes three being forty minuets and three seconds, with all three episodes really earning there running time as they are all telling this one epic story and the fact that the final episode of the first season is the longest episode of all of the episodes does tell you just how epic that this three parter is as that one episode does have alot of plot to cover and to do son in shorter amount of time would do a huge disservice to the plot of the episodes as a whole with these episodes really having enough plot there to really cover that large amount of running time in the first place. With the episodes really using there running times wisely as they do take alot of time to fully develop the episodes plot with them adding in things that do effect in a major way be it from Magneto being let go from where he was hidden by Bastion to the leaders of the human race deciding to bomb the asteroid that the X-Men are on in the hopes that it won't fall down and wipe out the earth these are all things that the makers of this episode really didn't have to include but the fact that they did does show us that they knew that they had to give us a satisfactory ending and that does mean giving us a well thought out and developed plot. The same thing is also kind of true for the episodes character development as while we do see what it is that might turn Magneto into more of an anti hero in this next season as it is him that not only saves Charles but also the world and the other X-Men we don't really see what it is that causes Rogue to go back to being a good guy which whilst this is a small thing given the fact that we saw the thought process of her deciding to essentially become a bad guy even if it was for a few minuets it still would have been nice if we got to understand why she flipped back to being a good guy but I really will admit that these episodes really does have some really good pacing to them tho. 

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / resented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. With all three episodes having some really fun action in them all of which d take as full advantage of the fact that there are being animated as they possibly could have done and while we don't get to see alot of the team fighting together in alot of this three parter whenever we do that's when we get some of the more really cool stuff happening as it will always be cool seeing all of the X-Men fighting together and using there powers together. With the best action scene being in part three as we get to see alot of the X-Men that are still alive on the Asteroid not only trying to hold of Bastion but also trying to stop the Asteroid from falling to earth with them only just being able to defeat Bastion when they put on a collar that cancels out his powers but then the mutants have another problem as the humans bomb the Asteroid which does start to make it fall to earth all the while inside his a mind an unconscious Charles has to get Magneto to remember who he is so that they can escape his mind and which is something that they only just barely manage to do, this one episode is basically one long action scene with there being very few breaks inbetween the action think of it as the Mad Max: Fury Road but of TV animation and you'll get the idea and yet it does oddly work because of it with the rest of the episodes action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if this three parter is anything go by then the next season does have an awful lot to live up to as my god were all three episodes of this show just so good that is really saying something when you take into account that the rest of the show really is just so good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in these episodes in this very review and as such that really does mean that these episodes really do earn themselves a grand total combine score of exactly a 10 out of 10 from me.

Spider-Noir TV Series SPOILER FILLED Review

Even tho the character of Spider-Man has been in alot of live action films he's really been in two live action TV shows both of which were in the seventies. Well now we have another new show to add to that list with this show actually doing two things different the first of which being the fact that you can watch the show in both color and black and white and the second of which being the fact that it is the live action Spider-Man project not to feature Peter Parker and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the show that might be based watched in black and white with the show in question being called simply just "Spider-Noir" enjoy.

The plot of this show is five years after the death of his fiancée is killed at the hands of a criminal retired superhero and private investigator Ben Reilly finds himself dragged back into the hero game when he agrees to take on a case that involves a supposed cheating wife. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well hen in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty really good. The shows plot was quite frankly alot more better then what it really had any right to be as by all rights this shows plot should have been a very generic and a very by the books superhero show with a noir twist put on it and that's really it and while there are hints of that being the case. The shows plot does add in enough things to keep you invested that when it does drop certain plot lines for reason you don't really feel it with the fact that it does drop certain plot lines being something that does hold the plot of the show as for no reason the show will start another plot and then drop it a few episodes later only to then pick it up again with this being something that does make it hard to tell just what the main plot of the show was meant to be when it would have been all the more better if the show just picked one plot line for it's main plot and just ran with it and not not just randomly start a new plot line every few episodes as that is something that will confuse the audience watching this show with the plot of this show also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Williams , Lukas Haas as Winston , Cary Christopher as Frankie , Michael Kostroff as Alfred Morris and Brendan Gleeson as Finbar "Finn" Byrne / Silvermane.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well hen in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty really good. To be frank the fact that this shows acting was as good as it is is something that is still quite surprising as while yes the show does have some really good actors in it alot of this shows actors aren't that well known and yet they do turn in some really good performances in this show and while they don't out act the likes of Nicolas Cage or Brendan Gleeson for that matter they do tun in some really good performances in there own right. With the best actor in the whole entire show being Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly / The Spider as he does carry the whole show with him giving us a really powerful performance as the character ss while the show does add in moments of humor with Ben Nicolas does pull them really well and when the show does have a dramatic moment he does really turn it up and while he doesn't have you in floods of tears during those moments you do feel the characters pain with both him and Brendan Gleeson clearly having a blast acting in scenes together and to be fair watching the two of them do a scene together is alot of fun to watch as we are watching two really good actor just knock it out of the park with there acting with Nicolas not really being afraid to go to those more wacky places with his character with this being something that does shine through in his final performance. With the acting that's in this very show really being helped by the fact that this shows scripts are all just so good that all this shows actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very show. 

Doing the CGI for this show is Alchemy 24 and the legends and the greats that are currently over at Industrial Light & Magic. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well hen in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty really good. The thing that does make this shows CGI be so good in the first place is the fact that it does blend it really well with the show with the shows live action elements with the show really only using CGI in scenes where it would be impossible to do them for real. Like for example extending the shows sets to make them look bigger or by having The Spider swinging threw New York all of these things are things that would have been hard to do for real and therefor the only way to do them would be to do them in CGI. This isn't to say that the shows CGI is great all of the time tho as there are scene in the show where the CGI does look a little bit two much like a cartoon like whenever Megawatt uses his powers as while alot of the time the effects on them do look good there are times where it does look a little bit two fake with the thing even being true for the scenes where we can see Ben in the passenger seat of a car with the car moving as the projection for alot of those scenes does look a little bit of and while it is clear that the makers of this show wouldn't give the effects team alot of time to finish those scenes as alot of them are nothing scenes  it does lower the overall quality of the shows effects. With things like Megawatts powers being something that should have had more time given to them given the fact that he is a minor character in the show however when the show does have some good effects like Ben swinging threw New York it is something that does look really good with it being something that does show that the makers of this show did know when to use CGI and when to do things for real.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like with alot of noir films and TV shows this one does have a femme fatal character which in this case is Cat herself. With the character being someone who is madly in love with Flint Marko so much so that she'll do anything to see him cured of his powers and yet the second that she believes him dead she gets Ben to fall in love with her this is something that is an interesting part of the show due to the fact that she and Ben were planning on running away together and yet because of the fact that she loves Flint alot more then she does Ben she turns him into a doctor that wants to use him for own ends thus leaving Ben broken hearted. The theme of love and what it can do to you is something that we see all throughout the show as we get told by Ben himself that the biggest mistake he made prior to episode 1 was falling in love with him struggling to cope with the death of Ruby so much so that he gave up being The Spider as he believed that her death was his fault and yet when we see him fall in love again this time with Cat he is not only all the more wiser but is also willing to take a chance which does make it all the more upsetting when she does betray him. When it comes to Cat it's clear that she is the type of character that has never not had a boyfriend and therefore sh does struggle with knowing what to do when she believes that she doesn't have one anymore and even tho Flint has barely been missing for a few days by the time she starts to flirt with Ben the two of them do still form this connection with each other where they are both able to tell the other things that they might not have done otherwise. The show does go to great length to show us both the up and the down sides of being madly in love with with someone as the show do0es show us Ben being really happy when he thinks that he's found true love with Cat and yet the second that she turns on him he realises that she's played him like a fiddle and the first thing that he does is get drunk and be the same depressed person that he was at the start of the show.

In what is a rather cool move there are actually two ways that you can watch this show the first of which is in color and the second is in black and white. Watching the show in color is alot more easier for more modern audiences to do as it is something that they are more used to do however given the fact that this is noir show and alot of those classic noir films were all done in black and white this is show does seem like it would be a much more better watch in that format as it would be more true to the classic noir genre as then you could have all of these harsh shadows hitting the characters and you could have characters walking out of the shadows alot more often and this is something that you just can't do in color. Due to the fact that we can see everything clear as day and while the characters do still have those harsh shadows hitting them alot of the time it feels like it's lacking something when its done in color but on the plus side tho it is understandable why the makers of this show did give us the audience a choice between the two formats as there will be people who will find watching the show in color alot more easier then watching it in black and white just due to the fact that they are more used to watching films and TV shows in that way and that's fair enough, much like there will be people who will want to watch this show in black and white as they'll want to get the proper noir expirence and that is something that you can't fully replicate when watching the show in color as alot of the noir films were never made to be seen in color even the word noir means black in French but the fact that they went out of there way to produce to different versions of an episode is something is to be commended as its something that alot of studios just won't do and will instead jus force us to watch the one version of something even tho watching it a different way might be the better option.

Silvermane might be the best villain that the makers of this show could have used for this season of the show. As the character isn't that well known and therefor they do have alot more room to do whatever they want with his character and to be fair he does seem like the type of character that you would want to meet in like the first film of a new series as while he yes he is threatening and he is cunning he's also someone that our hero could very easily beat in a fight if he wanted to do with it being made clear that this take on the character was done as a way for Sony to say that they had there own version of The Penguin as the two characters are very similar to each other with them even both being played by an Irish person. Yet Silvermane doesn't really have an endgame as he spends a good portion of the first half of the season trying to work out who burnt down his house and tried to kill him and spending a few episodes of the rest of the season trying and failing to get an army of superpowered people to help him take over New York this is something that does make it hard to get a good read on who he is as a character as his motivations seem to be shifting from episode to episode when giving him one clear goal in mind be it to built up his superpowered army or to find out who tried to kill him would have been more then enough to make him a truly threatening character and heck out of the two motivations its him trying to work who killed him that brings out his more evil side as there we do get to see him kill people in cold blood. This is something that we don't get to see with the rest of his evil plan and it is something that could have made his character be all the more unlikable as he does spend alot of time talking to the mayor of New York saying things like how he could have him replaced and yet when push does do come to shove we don't see him kill him and heck its not even Ben that kills him its Cat which yes does make sense for her character but for the main villain you do want him to get killed off by the main hero of the show.

Now then this show has / had an exact grand total running time of no longer then forty nine minuets with episode six having the shortest running time of forty six minuets and thirty five seconds and episode episode five having the longest running time of forty nine minuets and twenty five seconds. These are pretty solid running times for this show to have but what does let the show done is the fact that there are two few episodes in this first season as you very easily could have gotten a good ten episodes out of this first season alone which would have the advantage of letting the plot of the show breathe a little bit more and it would allow for the show to pick just the one main plot line and not just pick up and drop it's main plot line whenever it chooses to do so with the show having more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of plot in the first place. Yet even with the show having eight episodes it still doesn't use its running time all that wisely as the show doesn't take the time to fully develop its plot with the show being alot more focused on giving different plot lines then it i in giving us a more focused and well developed plot something which it would have been alot more able to do if the season was just a few episodes longer as then the show would have that time to explore these multiple plots whilst having the one overarching plot line. This is something that does effect the shows character development as well as understandably the only character that does get some sort of character development inn Ben as he does go from someone who is running away from his past to someone who does fully embrace it by becoming The Spider once again and while it is understandable why he does get alot of the shows character development as he is the shows main character we don't see characters like Cat , Janet or Robbie get any kind of character development with us knowing just as much about them coming out of the show then we did coming into the show but I really will admit that this show really does have some really good pacing to it tho. 

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty pretty good. The fact that this show does have alot of good action in it isn't something that's all that surprising due to the fact that the makers of this show also made the highly entertaining Spider-Verse films and therefor they do know how to craft some really good action something which does come into use alot of the time in this show with us getting at the very least one action scene per-episode in this show. With the best action scene in the whole entire show being the fight scene in episode seven "Nobody's Hero" as we do get this really cool bar room fight scene where a drunk Ben dressed in his The Spider mask decides to take on a bunch of people that where making fun of him for not being as good they remember him being with the whole fight scene being done in one continuous shot which is always something that will be really impressive to see as if one person mistimes something that they have to start the whole thing over again from scratch and yet it is something that they do pull off really well in this episode with the scene itself having moments of comedy with the people getting moaning in pain alot of the time with it being that great mixture of comedy and action being something that two of the shows other executive producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller do really well and it is something that is used to great effect in this scene with the scene itself being just as hard hitting as it is funny to watch with the rest of the shows action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall we are starting the summer months of good with this show and here's hoping that we really can end next month just as good as we've ended this month. As Spider-Man: Brand New Day does have alot to live up to now as this show has proven that you don't need Peter Parker playing Spider-Man for it to be good as all you need is a good script and good acting and both of those are things that this show really has in spades in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very show in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very show really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

The Punisher: One Last Kill SPOILER FILLED Review

Marvel has been hitting it out of the park very recently with there shows with Daredevil: Born Again season 2 being one of the best things to come out of the MCU in recent years. However as much as we like the good it seems that we also have to get some bad as a week after the finale of Born Again season 2 we get a new special featuring The Punisher and then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the special that does straight up John Wick a dog with the special in question bein called simply just "The Punisher: One Last Kill" enjoy.

The plot of this special is a the last surviving member of a famous mob family puts a hit out on Frank and Frank has to try and survive every thug that tries to kill him. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special was in all honesty OK at best. To be frank here this specials plot is really lacking as at times it does feel like that there was no plot to speak off out of the one that was just described and even then that is something that could be considered more of a synopsis rather then a full blown plot. This special was presented under the "Marvel Studios Special Presentation" banner and yet the specials plot doesn't feel all that special as it feels like something that could have been the plot for an episode of the Netflix Punisher TV series with the specials plot being really thin at best and look granted this special is mainly there to set up Frank appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and that's really it and that's great but you still need to give this special a half way decent plot, it's not all doom and gloom for this specials plot tho as the special does do some interesting things with Frank but sat the same time the special doesn't devote enough time to those things heck it doesn't give its own plot a conclusion as the special just sort of ends and while that would have been fine if this was a TV series as then you could argue that the show is getting another season to finish its story yet this isn't a TV show its a special and therefore the plot really did to be finished by the end of this special. With the plot of this special not really being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this special is this specials co-writer and producer Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / The Punisher and Judith Light as Ma Gnucci. Also starring in this special is Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page , Jason R. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special was in all honesty not that bad. This specials acting is quite frankly alot more better then what you think it would have been with the actors that you expect a good performance giving us exactly that, however tho this is a case where the special does have alot more bad acting then it does good with it being clear as day that this specials co-writer , producer and director Reinaldo Marcus Green really has no clue on how to direct his actors as outside of the returning actors the newer actors come across as no having any clue on what to do or if there giving a good performance and this is something that he should communicated to them. With the best actor in this special being Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / The Punisher which is really something that does make sense as no only is her reprising a role but he also co-wrote and co-produced the special therefore he will have a really good handle on the material and will know how best to make it work not only for him but for his character as well. With the acting that's in this very special not really being helped by the fact that this specials script is just so bad as it gives none of this specials actors anything to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really foes harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very special.

Doing the CGI for this special is the legends and the really greats that really are currently over at Curated. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special was in all honesty not that bad. This special has been getting alot of negative press in recent days due to the quality of the CGI and while yes there is one really bad looking effect which will be getting discussed the rest of the specials CGI was about as passable as you would expect it to be as the rest of the specials CGI is just set extensions with the only other really bad looking effect being some really obvious either green or blue screen effects around the halfway point of the special but that's really it. As for the specials shall we say infamous bad looking effect whilst it is just about as bad as people on social media have been making it out to be as it does look like a computer game effect there could be some logical reasoning behind why it looks so bad in the first place as the effect just screams "we'll fix it post" as they clearly use the real life head of Jon Bernthal but they then replace his entire body the other thing could be that the effects team just either ran out of money or time to get the effect looking just right either way there is something more to this effect other then it being a bad effect as it's really only that effect of Frank falling that looks bad with the rest of the specials effects looking really good for the most part and given that this shot is on screen for only a few seconds it is something that might have just slipped past the makers of the special but either way a bad effect is a bad effect but it is hard to work out just who is to blame for this bad looking effect as there's no information out there about why this effect looks as bad as it does in the first place.

This whole special does of Dredd 2012 vibes as alot of the specials third act is beat for beat a copy of the entirety of that film. Much like like in Dredd where Judges Dredd and Anderson are trapped inside of a building with people trying to kill them Frank finds himself basically trapped in his apartment building with people trying to kill him with both that film and this special having the main character having to find new and inventive ways to get out of the building this is something that is slightly forgivable due to the fact that Dredd wasn't that big of a hit at the box office and it is still a cult film it is still something that the makers of this special had to be aware of as it's not all that subtle with the only difference being Frank doesn't spend that long in the building as he gets out of it pretty quickly. It does make sense for them to want to copy what worked in Dredd as the character of Judge Dredd is pretty much the same as Frank Castle as Judge Dredd wants to uphold the law no matter what even if it means turning in his co-workers for doing something that breaks the law and Frank has been a victim of a vicious crime and because of that does want to see the law upheld even if it's his own twisted version of it and therefor copying the main plot of the most recent Dredd film in this regard is something that does make sense but at the same time all this ends up doing is reminding people that they could be watching a much more better film as this special has nothing that's worth watching whereas in Dredd the idea of being trapped alone in a building full of criminals that want you dead and with no way to call for help is a good idea and while that idea does also work in this special it's not really one that's done to its fullest extent.

As was mentioned at the start of this review they do John Wick a dog in this film by which they do kill of a dog and yes you do see how it happened even if you don't see the truck hitting the dog. Whilst this is something that will upset alot of dog lovers and animal lovers out there this is also something that is inservice to what little plot that the special does have as it does highlight just how for lack of better word lawless that the town of Little Sicily is as we do see crimes being committed left right and centre in this small town with the police not even going near it as when they do there police cars get set on fire with possibly the policemen in side them as well. This is due to the fact that due to Frank killing of the the Gnucci crime family leaving only Ma Gnucci alive and because of this there is now a huge power vacuum in the town with alot of small time criminals trying to take the biggest slice of the pie yet the special doesn't really take the time to go into this all that much as its something that is very much glossed over and forgotten about by the end of the special as when the special ends things are just as bad in Little Sicily with the only difference being that Frank has suited up once again as The Punisher and while there will be no doubt we'll be seeing more of this small town in the new Spider-Man film it is something that should have been resolved in this special as it then makes the story feel complete and while there is more better ways to get across the fact that there is no law in this town then killing of a dog as you could have showed the dogs owner getting the life beat out of him and robbed as that still would have gotten the point across just as well giving the fact that this special is more mature having the dog killed of is something that works just as well even if it is something that really wasn't needed in the first place.

Ma Gnucci herself is someone that would have made for a more better villain if she was someone that had appeared in The Punisher Netflix show. While over members of her family did so Ma herself was nowhere to be seen and while it does make sense for her to be the main villain of this special as Frank is now struggling with what to do next now that all of them are killed off she doesn't really do all that much outside of appearing in a few scenes and straight up tell Frank that she's told people to come to his home at this time and kill him and that's it which just feels like a waste of a character as on paper this character could have been handled really well as the special could have delved into what it was that made her tick Heck they even could have taken the time to show us just how cold and calculated that she is much like with what they did with Wilson Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again where we got to see him thinking three steps ahead of everyone else thus forcing Matt Murdock and friends to try and outwit him and becoming better heroes because of it yet here due to the fact that we don't get to spend alot of with Ma as a character we don't get to know all that much about her and therefore we don't get to see if she is this cold and calculating. the character does come off as being all the less interesting because of it as she just comes off as being another typical Marvel mobster boss villain with the only difference being that she apparently loved her family to death and while that is great on paper on screen you need to give us more then that to make us truly hate this character as we the audience have no reason to hate her as a character and the only way that you would have a reason to hate her was if you read the comics as the special doesn't give us anything that makes us want to hate her, heck we don't get that much of a backstory for her character something which would have helped us the audience to fully hate her as a character.

Now then this special has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly forty eight minuets and three seconds. Which for a Disney+ special is kind of the bogstandard running time for these specials to have but at the same time the average episode of any TV drama does typically last a lot more longer then this special when it really should be the other way around as you could very easily get this special to come it at around one hour just by expanding upon the specials main plot and themes with the special having more then enough plot there to fully cover that amount of running time in the first place yet for one reason or another the makers of this special instead chose to have it come it at just under the fifty minuet mark. With the special not really using its running time all that wisely as the special doesn't take the time to fully develop its plot as there isn't much of a plot there to begin with with this being something that very easily could be been fixed with the makers of the special choosing to devote more time to the aspects of the specials plot that actually work like Frank having PTSD and actually finishing off the story that it was tryin to tell in the first place instead of focusing on other less important things as all that does is eat away at the specials screen time. This is something that does also the effect the specials character development as while it could be argued that Frank does get some character development in this special as he does agree to go back to being The Punisher again none of the specials other characters get any kind of screen time which is something that dos make sense as Frank is the specials title character but at the same time characters like Ma are left feeling underdeveloped as the makers of the special seem to be afraid of giving us well thought out characters but I really will admit that this special really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action special that really does mean that I gave to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special wa in all honesty really good. With the specials actin being the best part of the special itself this is something that does make sense as The Punisher is meant to be this unstoppable one man army who is willing to do whatever it is that he thinks is and that is something that does open to having some really fun and creative action scenes and that is something that we do get alot of in this special with the action being the main star of the special. With the best action scene in this special being the escape scene as we get to see Frank both shoot and stab his way through countless criminals all of which are trying to kill him and all of which are harming other people that they believe might be hiding him, heck we even get to see alot of really cool death scenes and moves in this one action scene all of which are thing that do make this specials action feel all the more well thought out then the rest of the special and whilst it would have been very easy to have things cool off when Frank does escape his apartment it keeps on going with this being something that does add an element of danger as now Frank for all we could no might not have anywhere else to go and yet he still keeps on fighting as now he's not fighting to avenge the death of his family he's fighting for his very life with him finding the will to be The Punisher once more during this truly epic action scene with the rest of the specials action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if you have the choice between this and Devil May Cry season 2 watch Devil May Cry season 2 as there's really very little of value to be found in this special outside of the set up for Spider-Man: Brand New Day with the whole special feeling like a rush job to get the special out there while people are still really wanting to see more from the Netflix Marvel characters in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Daredevil: Born Again "The Southern Cross" SPOILER FILLED Review

Disney really is on a roll with there TV show finales as we've just had Maul: Shadow Lord kill it with it's first season finale and now we have another show it's final episode. With this episode also being really good as it more the pays off everything that was set up in not only this season but the first season as well and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the episode that really does change the game with the episode in question being called simply "The Southern Cross" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is with Karen still in court Matt must do what he can to prove that Wilson is evil and expose him for all of his crimes even it means doing something drastic. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. To put it frankly this episodes plot works so well even if you remove the fact that it's a Marvel show as it is just such a well written plot that does get you invested in what's happening on screen and it keeps you hooked all the way to the very end of the episode. With the thing that makes this episodes plot work as well as it does is the fat that both this season and the first season where originally commissioned as one big season order before it was decided to split the episode count into two separate season with allowing the makers of this show to tell one whole story over two seasons with this episode of course forming the final chapter of that story with this helping the episode due to the fact that it's now given us the audience alot more longer to become in vested in these characters and in this story, while yes this episodes plot could have been alot more stronger in some places as not everything that you wont to see get resolved gets resolved the things that the episodes plot does well it does really well with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. It's not really all that surprising that this episode has some really good acting in it as not only are a bunch of this episodes actors some really good actors in there own right but this show and by extension the first Daredevil TV show did always have some really good acting in it with this episode of course being of no exception as all of this episodes actors really do bring there A game to this episode something which they really didn't need to do. With the best actor in this entire episode being Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin as he really does go through alot of emotions in this episode and may god do you see it all in his face as you see him go from calm to kind of playful in the scenes in the court but when the ace in the hole gets played you see him go from happy to anxious at the drop of a hat and then you see him go from anxious to down right angry and that is when that character is at his most dangerous and yet even then it doesn't stop as he goes from angry to sad and then from sad to at piece and all of this is something that Vincent does in not only his facial expressions but his body language as well and that is something that really does make you see just what this character is thinking and feeling at any given time and that is something that does come through in his performance. With the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say te lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality that's in this very episode.

Doing the CGI for this episode is the legends and the greats thar are currently over at Ingenuity Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. To be frank this episodes CGI was alot more better then what it really had any right to be as while the episode does make alot of use of digital doubles for it's characters especially during the third act there not as bad as have been in more recent productions as they do still move like real people with the only major thing being that they are doing things that the actors just can't do or it's unsafe for them to do them. While this show doesn't really use CGI all that much as really it's only used for extended the set and creating digital doubles of certain characters and that's really it the episode does take the time to add in things like buildings in the background or in the case of this episode some CGI light coming in the windows in some of the courtroom scenes and while alot of this is understandable as you might have to hide certain things like the camera or crew for example there really wasn't any need to add in some CGI light as you very easily could have shone a light through the window and created naturally and while the CGI version isn't that bad it is somethin that does stand out as everything around it is done for real and while it might have been added in in post to make the scene be more visually interesting this is something that should have been thought of while the episode was in production, yet to be fair to this episode alot of the hidden CGI in this episode does work really well as you can't tell what was added in later as opposed to what was done there on the day and that is exactly how CGI should be as it should always blend in and enhance the scene and not stand out and take away from it.

Out of alot of the things that are in this episode one of the things that people are going to be talking is the fact that we get the return of Mike Colter as Luke Cage. With him appearing in the final few moments of the episode just to confirm that he and Jessica are now parents this a huge bombshell moment as even tho the two of them got together in Jessica Jones by the time that that show ended and Luke Cage began as a TV show he has dating someone else entirely and yet here he is not only back with Jessica but now a dad this is something that does change the game for those two characters as now there little girl could very well end up having superpowers of her very own. With both Luke Cage and Jessica Jones pretty much all but confirmed for the next season of Born Again it would be interesting to see where the show takes those characters given the fact that this episode ends with the family setting up a new version of "Alias Investigations" and given the fact that the two of them do now have a kid of there very own it would be more then interesting to see where the show goes with there characters and given the fact that this show does firmly love the Netflix shows so much it would be interesting to see them brining back in alot of the side characters from both shows just to see how those characters would react to seeing both Jessica and Luke back together again let alone seeing that there both up to there old ways of being super heroes once more as this is something that could lead to an interesting plot for the characters like maybe there daughter doesn't know that her mom and dad were former superheroes and has to come to terms with that over the course of the next season or they could do a one off special like that there doing with The Punisher: One Last Kill.

For one reason or another when it comes to there series finales Disney has been really on fire recently with both this show and Maul: Shadow Lord not only having great first and second outings in there own right but also having fantastic final episodes. This is something that should always be the case as plenty of TV shows have been ruined by having a bad finale and while both of those shows are confirmed to be getting new seasons the fact that they managed to have episodes that stick the landing as it goes is something that will make people look back on those respective shows alot more fondly yet if you were to take a look at something like for example Game Of Thrones which had several good seasons but it fell apart when it's final season was ending and therefor people don't look back on that show as fondly as they know where it's leading to. However with this show and this episode what it's leading to is a great episode where we get to see Matt Murdock reveal himself as Daredevil in the ultimate move to get Fisk to reveal to the whole of New York that he's a bad guy with it being done in a way that not only makes sense but also works for both characters as Matt calls Fisk to the stands and after several questions shows him the video that confirms that Daredevil was in the right with him saying that he is daredevil to back that up essentially all the while Fisk is almost daring him to do it as he knows that if Matt does go through with it that he will be locked up from the crimes that he committed as Daredevil with them both playing chess basically and daring the other one to make the wrong move first, that is somethin that does work well for both of these characters as Matt would of course do anything to help his friend and in this case his client and Wilson Fisk would do whatever it takes not only to clear his own name but to make sure that the people see him as being in the right the whole time.

Speaking of Matt and Wilson they get one of the best scenes in the episode together with the episode itself proving that a hero doesn't always need to punch his opponent into submission to get his to quit. With this episode having Matt talk Wilson into accepting an offer to step down as mayor of New York willingly and move away and never come back this is something that does prove that words can be just as effective as a punch to the face as while it would have been totally justified for Daredevil to beat the ever loving daylights out of Wilson all it would have done is prove him right and that all vigilantes are the bad guys yet by taking the opposite approach and having him use his words and using logic to get him to do it all willingly he is proving that not only to Wilson but to the people surrounding them both that violence isn't always the answer. This is something that works so well in the episode as while the Kingpin in his current frame of mind would be capable of rational thought due to the fact that he's just lost the only person who could ever hold him back he and Matt know this dance to well to know that the other won't quit whilst the other is still standing and therefor the only logical choice was him to accept the offer and willingly leave New York and start his life over again somewhere but even so it could be argued that Kingpin does get the last laugh as unlike Matt he is still free to do whatever he wants meanwhile Matt is now in jail for the crimes that he committed as Daredevil essentially leaving alot of New York without someone to protect it which does mean that Fisk or any other street level villain could swoop in and do alot of damage and Daredevil wouldn't be there to stop them and while we do see Karen putting the Muse mask there's tell on if she'll become a vigilante n Matt's absence.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly fifty one minuets and nine seconds. With this episode being one of the more longer episodes of this season of the show which is something that does make sense as this episode does essentially have to wrap up two seasons worth of stories and therefor it did need the extra running time to do exactly that but at the same time tho this episode could have done with loosing a few minuets around the middle of the episode as that's where the episode did start to drag a little bit not so much that it hurts the episodes overall pacing but enough so that you do start to notice it a a little bit with the episode on the whole having the right amount of plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place. Yet in saying this tho the episode really doesn't use its running time all that wisely as the episode doesn't fully develop its plot which in all fairness it really doesn't have to do that given the fact that this is the final episode of the season and therefor it wouldn't make sense for them to fully develop this episodes plot but at the same time tho the episode does spend time on a prolog scene with Matt being arrested and sent to jail and then showing a clearly distraught Karen putting on the Muse mask when all of that is something that could have been covered in a montage at the end as we don't need to see whole scenes explaining all of that as all that does is eat up screen time that could have been spent on developing the episodes plot. The episode kind of doesn't even fully develop its characters either which again isn't that big of an issue in this case as it doesn't have to do that in the final episode but they don't even reveal who Mr. Charles really when that's something that could have done as that would have added something of interest to his character but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is ana action how that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. The fact that this episodes action is as good as it is isn't something that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as people who have watched this show will know that when this show gives us a really cool action scene it is something that is worth talking about and that is very much the case with this episode as even tho the episode only has the one action may god is it one that's worth talking about. With the best action scene in the whole entire episode being the attack on the courthouse as that scene is just so well done as we get to see Fisk punching and headbutting innocent New Yorkers all the while his own task force is hunting down and trying to kill Matt , Jessica and there friends which leads to both Matt and Jessica having to take out entire waves of them on there own with the whole sequence being very well edited and put together as we do get to see just how desperate that both sets of characters are with the thing that makes the whole thing wrong being the fact that it was something that was built up in another episode of this same season as earlier on we had an entire episode where the people of New York had finally had enough and were trying let there feelings beard and Fisk's task force got violent with them and yet here when they do it again the people don't back down and they are et into the building and that one thing is something that makes that whole scene work with the rest of the episodes action just as good in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall next week Punisher special has alot to live up as this episode no scratch that this whole season has just been so good that we are now closer then we have been in the past several years to finally saying that the MCU is back on track as this episode gives us a satisfying ending to a really good second season in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the god and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very show really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 9.5 out of 10 and the episode earns itself a 9.5 out of 10 from me.
