South Park "Death" Review

 

When we think of South Park we usually forget of how long the show has been on the air as not only are they still making episodes to this very day but the show is still just as relevant as it was back in the nineties. With the episode that i'm going to be talking to you all about today being a shockingly good example of that as it is something that is still very much the case today and so then join me as I review the episode that no joke helped to inspire the South Park movie with the episode in question being called simply just "Death" enjoy.

The plot of this episode when the boys mothers all catch them watching Terence & Phillip and see what the show is mostly made up off they decide to to try and get the show pulled of the air all the while the boys have to deal with Stans grandfather who wants him to kill him. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. This episodes plot is one that is filled to the brim with all of the satire that the show is known and weaving in such a clever way that it makes the episodes plot come across all the more better as a result of it as by all rights this episode really shouldn't have worked and yet for whatever reason it not only works but due to it's satire it's still just as relevant today as it was in the nineties. The only thing that lets the plot down is the fact that the boys plot is presented as being the main plot of the episode and the plot with the parents is presented more as being the side plot when it really should have been the other way around as the stuff with the parents is where the plot of the episode gets good is interesting to see and while yes the plot with the boys is the more entertaining and funny of the two plots it's also the less interesting of the two therefor if the two plots were reversed then it would have made the episode be all the more stronger because of it with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Also starring in this episode is Mary Kay Bergman as Sharon Marsh , Shelly Marsh , Sheila Broflovski , Liane Cartman and Suzanne Somers , Jennifer Howell as Bebe Stevens and Isaac Hayes as Chef.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. This something that is kind of to be expected as they have the shows creators voicing alot of the characters in the show and if anyone is going to know how those characters should sound it is them and they do have alot of other good actors in this episode all of whom do turn in some really good performances in there own right and heck they even have ne actor play pretty much the vast majority of the episodes female characters alot of whom all appear in the same scene together. With the best actor in the whole entire episode being Trey Parker just because of the fact that it is kind of funny picturing him recording this episode trying to convince one of the characters that he voices to kill another character that he also voices with him being so good in the episode as while it is of course well known just which of the four boys that he plays its not really known just which of the the town's residents that he plays and to be fair you can't exactly hear anything that sounds all that similar to his normal speaking voice which is something that does make it easier to believe that he is playing all of these characters in the show. With this episodes acting really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at South Park Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. This is something that will always be quite shocking when it comes to this first season of the show as they were still getting used to the computer soft where that they were using to actually animated the show and while they would get more used to it by the end of the season it is still interesting to see where this show started off at from an animation point of view when compared to where it is now as now they are able to do these more complex camera moves and have more things going on in both the foreground and in the background and yet as we see in this episode the camera is mostly static mainly in a mid-shot angle with there only being a few moving characters seen in the frame and while that is great for this show and for this episode as it does give the episode a homemade look to do it almost as if anyone with a punch of spare pieces of paper and a camera can go and remake this episode shot for shot. However there is just something to the more modern seasons animation where the more polished look whilst it does make the episode feel more better produced also causes the show to loose that homemade aspect that makes this episode stand out as while this episode and the show as a whole wasn't done in cutout animation it still does look like it with that being something that does add some level of charm to this episodes animation.

Believe it or not this episode did help to inspire the main plot of South Park: Bigger , Longer & Uncut due to the fact that both the plot of this episode and the plot of the show are very similar and deal with similar themes. This is mostly because of the fact that even from it's first episode South Park has been a huge target for parents groups and this episode was there answer to them much like how in the movie they were talking mainly to the MPAA and it is something that make the show as a whole feel like something that will stand up for what it believes in and will openly call out anyone that dares to mock them just by using sense and logic. With this episode doing a good job of not only presenting those that did needlessly criticise the show with cold hard truths and facts but doing so in a way that is true to the shows more satiric style as it pairs that with scenes of the kids genuinely needing there parents help and guidance and yet because of the fact that the parents aren't there to help them out as there more focused on getting a TV cancelled it means that the kids have to work this stuff out for themselves which is something that puts them in more danger when the character death comes into play with this being something that very easily could have been sorted if the boys parents had just taken the time the listen to them and actually be parents this is something that again is also doesn't in the movie only in the movie tho it's for obvious reasons done on a much more bigger scale where as here there is no sign of Satan or him trying to take over the world and while the movie version of this story works just as well it works well enough here in this episode as not only does it feel like that Matt and Trey have alot to say but there also holding up a mirror to those same adults that did criticise the show.

While the main focus of the episode should have been the plot with the mothers the plot with the boys and Stan's grandfather does have some good thing in it as well. Like for example the fact that hos grandfather keeps on calling Stan Billy is something is pretty funny as it could be chalked to him being forgetful which given that he's one hundred and two years old would be understandable but at the same time tho the fact that we find out his Grandfather also called him Billy with Stan then being called little Billy is something that does make that cute running joke be a little bit more funnier as now it looks like Stans grandfather is simply just doing it on purpose. With the other entertaining thing about that plot line being the fact that whatever the parents do in New York always effects the kids in a negative way like when they finally do get Terence & Phillip pulled of the air it then causes a distracted death who had stopped chasing the boys to watch the latest episode to now go and finally kill Kenny but those to aspects aside there's not a whole lot about this half of the episode that is actually interesting as the show doesn't go as far with it's satire and humor in this part of the episode that what it really should have done with that being something that does keep it from being as entertaining as the parents plot line as with the parents you get to see things get pushed beyond the extreme with that being something that makes there scenes all the more entertaing to watch and yet when it comes to the boys and there scenes it oddly feels like that there holding back like for example all throughout the episode Stans grandfather says that when he was Stans age he killed his grandfather when he asked him to and yet when death brings his grandfather to life he just says that he was wrong to do that when it would have been more funnier if he said that he never said those things in the first place. 

As you can all no doubt work out by now the big thing about this episode is the fact that parents shouldn't just leave there kids in front of the TV and let the TV look after there kids. This was something that parents even back in the nineties were doing but to a much more lesser extent then how it is now with alot of kids myself included watching not only this episode but this show when it was first being aired and while I could handle its more mature content and knew not to swear infront of the adults there would have been kids that perhaps didn't know that and because of the fact that the parents didn't bother to either watch the show with them or just straight up not allow them to watch it due to what time it was being broadcast at those same parents then tried to get the show cancelled. When it's infact the fault of the parents for leaving the kids infront of the TV and exposing them to this kind of stuff that did the harm in the first place this is something that is oddly enough still relevant to this very day as adults are still doing it only now as well as leaving there kids in front of the TV there now leaving them on Ipads and on phones where that are free to watch more mature content with zero adult supervision. With the boys having a pretty good and possibly funny speech about how it's up the adults to raise there own kids and it's not up to whatever electronical device they have infront of them to do that which is something that alot of parents today not only refuse to hear but need to here with the thing that makes it funny being the fact that the makers of this episode also give Kenny apart of the speech even tho he's fully clothed which and yet the boys still somehow manage to fully understand him with this proving the fact that South Park can give us life lessons but have it be done in a way that is still true to the show signature style of humor.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty three minuets and twenty seven seconds. Which to be fair to this episode is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this show with the show really making the most of that running tike as while the episode might be more light on plot that is due to the fact that the episode does have quite alot of jokes to fit into the episode with the episode having just about the right amount of plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place and while the episode does make the most of it's running time when it comes to the episodes jokes it still doesn't use it wisely as the episode doesn't really take the time to fully develop it's plot which fair enough is mostly due to the fact that the episode is cramming alot of jokes in alot of the episodes but at the same time tho this episode would be just as well remembered if the episode did cut down on the amount of jokes told and gave some of that screen time to fully developing it's plot as at the end of the day that is what will make or break the episode. The episode also doesn't really fully develop it's characters either altho this is a case where you could make the point that all of the episodes characters would get there character development in future episodes and therefor they wouldn't need it in this episode and with alot of the episodes characters being one off characters alot of whom do die at the end of the episode with the episodes characters being mostly the shows main characters it does make sense that the makers of this episode wouldn't really give these characters any character development in this episode altho it still would have been nice to have seen some of them stat to grow more as characters but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty i in all honesty personally tought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty so freaking good. To say that this episode is funny would be a huge understatement as this episode is laugh out loud funny with nearly all of the episodes jokes not only landing but landing hard and those that don't don't really matter as by the time the episode has told that dude of a joke it's told another one which is funny with this being a very good example of just how funny that this show was when it was at it's height as while the episode is still funny back in it's early years you couldn't stop from laughing at this show with this episode being a good example of just how funny that this show could be when its at its best. With the best joke in the whole entire episode being body joke as usually things like burp jokes aren't that funny but here tho the episode does something that makes a poop joke be really funny as it makes the whole episode one long poop joke which on paper is something that shouldn't be funny and yet because of the fact that it's commenting on what people thought that South Park was as alot of parents did think that the show was nothing really more then poop jokes to have this whole episode be nothing more then one long poop joke is something that is not only really smart but it is also something that's really funny on top of that with the rest of the episodes jokes being as painfully funny as this one was as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this episode is one that is must watch if you love shows that can make you laugh whilst also holding up a mirror to alot of people as it's satire is just as biting and just as relevant today as it was back in the nineties with this episode being a really good example of just how good that this show still is in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good an as well as all of the bad things that re in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 9 out of 10 from me.

South Park "Ike's W** W**" Review

As has been proven in recent weeks South Park really is still culturally relevant today as it was back in the mid to late nineties. While there really are longer breaks now between seasons and even longer breaks between specials when we do get a new episode it is usually gold however I want to take you all back to a time when it really was cool to talk about the latest episode of South Park behind your parents backs at school with your friends and so then join me as I review the episode that makes Mr. Mackey the main character of the episode with the episode in question being called simply just "Ike's W** W**" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when school councilor Mr. Mackey is fired he goes down a dark road all the while the boys try and prevent Kyle's brother Ike from going through something called bris. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with this episodes plot being one of the more better examples of just how fresh and different that the show was back in it's nineties heyday as while yes this episodes plot is dumb and simple it's dumb and simple in all of the best ways possible as this is a show that really doesn't need deep and thought provoking plots for it's episodes to work it just needs simple plots that can then be blown up to the point where they become comical because of how much that they've been blown way out of proportion but at the same time tho this is a plot that isn't the strongest plot out there as well as both plots even when there put together aren't that strong enough to support an entire episode of the show with the episode even making it harder to work out just which is meant to be the main plot of the episode and which is meant to be the side plot as there both as ridiculous as each other but you could also argue that that's the not only the charm of the show as a whole but also the point of the episode as both of these plots are ridiculous and there both of them could very easily be both the main plot and the side plot of any given South Park episode with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With all of this episodes actors turning in some really good performances which is something that really does make alot of sense as all of this episodes actors are a bunch of really good actors in their own right an really do know hoe to deliver a good performance and with alot of them being in the show from the very beginning they would of course have a much more better handle on all of their characters and would really know how best to perform there characters and what kind of performance would best suit there respective characters in any given situation with the best actor in this episode being Trey Parker with him really making sure that all of his characters both sound vastly different from one another and act differently from each other as well with him also being the shows director he really does know what kind of performance would suit that scene that he's currently putting together in his head and nine times out of ten in this episode he was right to go with his gut with the acting that's in this very episode really bein helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with there being alot of depth in the episodes backgrounds which does oddly enough make the quality of this episodes animation seem to be a whole more higher then what it really had any right to be as with this show being down using cut out animation it does make it easy for the makers of this show just to not give that much attention to detail when it comes to the episodes animation and yet the very fact that there is alot of attention to detail in this episode from an animation point of view it does go to show that this shows animators really do have a love and care for the show and while it is hard to judge the characters movements as again this show is down with cut out animation or in the case of the series as a whole a computer programme that emulates that look and style but what can be said for sure is that this episodes animation is of a really high quality with this being due to the fat that instead of working on several episodes at once the animators instead send the entire week just working on the one episode and therefor they can give that one episode there full attention with that being something that really does shine through in this episode as it makes the animation in this episode be alot more better then what it really had any right to be.

What felt really odd during this episode is the fact that Mr. Mackey is essentially the main character of the episode. With the makers of this episode showing us things like where he lives and just how dedicated that he is to his job but even so it's hard to picture this character as the main character of an episode as just outside of the way he he says OK and the fact that he has a big head there's nothing quirky enough about this character that demands that he lead his own plot in an episode of the show but in saying that tho given the fact that he is one of the shows longest running characters and is a bit of a fan favorite character it was nice to see him get an episode that's dedicated to him but what would have made the episode feel worth it was if the episode actually showed us some of his backstory something which they could have gone into when he was sleeping next to the homeless man as that's kind of the point of a focus episode as this would then allow for us the audience to feel more for the character then what we already do in the first place but again just like with the plot it could be argued that not finding out that much about him is kind of the point of the episode as this whole episode is pretty much a spoof on anti drug PSA's and in those you never really get to know the main character with the only thing here that makes Mr. Mackey still be himself is the fact that he openly to never taking any kind of drugs even people are insisting that he did which is something that does add to the satire that the show is known for but it really would have worked more to this episodes advantage if we got to know about more him as a character as that could have made the episode better and the character himself all the more likable then what he already is in the first place.

Usually in this show it's Kyle , Stan , Kenny and Cartman that are the main characters of the episode as they are the main characters of the show. However here they feel more like side characters with there plot with Kyle's brother Ike having nothing to do with the Mr. Mackey plot line with the only thing of note to come from this plot is the fact that this is the episode where it's straight up confirmed that Ike is Kyle's adopted brother and is from Canada something which had never been mentioned before now with that revelation being something that does play a big part of the episode and Kyle is then forced to question if he and Ike really are brothers which does see him refuse to take part in Ike's bris as to him Ike is no longer his brother and it's only when Ike goes and talks to him and pretty much says that even tho there not related blood they are still a family and shows him all of the pictures of the two of them happily playing together that Kyle does finally come to accept the fact that even tho they aren't related he and Ike are still brothers something which was a pretty scene to see as even tho we've seen Kyle get outright angry at Ike several times throughout the early episodes of the show they are there for each other when it matters the most but at the same time tho it was still odd seeing the characters that you usually think of as being the main characters of the show be reduced to being side characters and while neither plot line is strong enough to lead the episode the bond between Ike and Kyle is as that bond really does make there plot in the episode all the more worthwhile and while the Mr. Mackey plot is still a fun plot he still feels more like a side character coming out of the plot where as Ike feel more like a main character coming out of his plot due to how strong his relationship is with Kyle.

For some reason even tho both the fandom wiki page for the show and the shows Wikipedia page both of which have this episode listed as being episode three of the shows second series. Both IMDB and the DVD for the shows second season have this episode listed as being the fourth episode of the season with the order just being swapped with the episode "ChickenLover" this is a really odd thing to as does make it hard to judge which episode of the season that this episode is mean to be with there being no reason for this odd little thing and no one can say that this show was produced first and therefor that's why it's the third episode because the show was always produced on a weekly basis they've never made the entire season before airing one singular episode which does make it odd that in some sources this is episode three whereas according to others it's episode four with there not being a DVD commentary on the DVD either as that would have been something that could have helped to clear the matter up but if official sources like the DVD for season are saying that this is fourth episode then why are the more fan made source like the shows fandom wiki page and to a lesser extent Wikipedia saying that it's the third episode of the show as surly just going by the more official sources would have been more then enough to clear up any kind of confusion and while this has nothing to do with the episode it is something that does make you wonder not only which one it is as for all we could know the numbers were switched after airing and while the show and the season isn't of course effected by this is it is something that could possibly confuse some people.

Now then this episode has / has an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty three minuets and forty six seconds. Which in all fairness to this episode this is pretty much the exact grand total running time for the rest of the show as a whole as well with this episode really having the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time but in saying that tho this episode really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as neither plot is that well developed with it feeling like that things are just happening not to advance either plot of the episode but rather it's just for no apparent reason whatsoever which does lessen the Mr. Mackey plot as there is plenty of stuff there that could have been added that would have made his plot for the episode all the more better and stronger then what it already is and while the main four boys don't really need any more character development in this episode as they have several other episodes in which to get across alot of there development the one character who really did need some character development in this episode was Mr. Mackey as the makers of this episode could have used his plot to develop his character a bit more by adding some backstory to the character instead of keeping him as a very one note character albeit one that does have alot of mileage in him but for whatever reason the makers of this episode chose not to give him any character development whatsoever but in fairness tho his lack of character development doesn't harm the episode as a whole as the episode still does work but it is something that would have made the episode be a whole more better in the long run then what it already is in the first place but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

With this episode having alot of painfully funny jokes in it like the fact that when the people of South Park stat making fun of Mr. Mackey after he gets fired the camera then pulls back and reveals that people are quite literally causing a traffic jam just to insult hm which is a really good joke as is the fact that the Kyle just sends his brother on a train to the furthest place that the train goes to that being Nebraska and the fact that everyone there all mistake Ike for something other then a baby but none of those have a candle on the best joke of the episode which is the simple joke of the boys just making fun of how Mr. Mackey talks by copying his speech pattern something which he has no idea that there doing in the first place which is such a simple joke that it works really well as it doesn't require much set up and it adds nothing to the plot of the episode it's just a simple and silly joke and it's one that does work really well in the episode so much so that they then bring it back at the end of the episode as well with all of this episodes jokes also being some really funny jokes in their own right as well as they all do show us just how funny that this show not only is but also was when the show was at it's height as this episode really does have some really funny jokes in it all of which while there not the shows best jokes are ones that do work really well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really good episode and is a really good example of just how good that this episode can be and with the show still being as funny and a relevant as ever in it's more recent season 27 episodes then it's safe to say that this show really does have alot more milage left in it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in his very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

South Park: Joining The Panderverse SPOILER FILLED Review

 

Every so often there comes along that gets people online so riled up that you just have to check it out the first chance that you get. Well that;s exactly what happened when South Park dropped the teaser trailer for South Park: Joining The Panderverse as alot of people got upset that South Park was doing what it always does and always has done and that's make fun of everybody and well with the special dropping today on Paramount+ I just really had to check out and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the special that really had alot of people really upset just from the teaser trailer alone with the special in question being called simply just "South Park: Joining The Panderverse" enjoy.

The plot of the special is when Cartman finds himself sucked into another dimension that replaces everybody with different versions of themselves the boys have to find away to get him back before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot tat's actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special was in all honesty the weakest aspect of this special as the special plot was rather on the weak side with the plot not really showing up until about twenty minuets and even then the plot really just disappears quite alot of the time in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special was in all honesty really good. Wit all of the cast in this special turning in some really good performances which does make sense as not only does this show always have some really good acting in it but alot of this specials voice cast are a bunch of really good voice actors and really helping things is the fact that this specials script is so good that all the cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a god performance will come out more naturally.

Doing the animation for this special is the legends and the greats that are currently over at South Park Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special was in all honesty really good which again really shouldn't be all that surprising as the animation in this show has always been really good and what really does help the animation in this special is the fact that it really does look like that it could belong in a feature length film not just a streaming special as the animation is that good.

This special takes alot of shots at not only Disney but also Lucasfilm and the fact that alot of superhero movies in general have been using the idea of a multiverse. Heck even the first real joke in the main South Park universe is them taking aim at Disney with the title of this film being done in the style of the Disney logo and heck even the specials title could be seen as a reference to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse but for me while the multiverse story was indeed very entertaining what was more entertaining was the storyline with Randy where they oddly take a shot at the fact that the owners of X / Twitter and Facebook want to get into an MMA ring and fight each other and heck Randy's story was just more entertaining overall.

For a special that deals with the multiverse they don't really spend alot of time explaining how the multiverse works in the world of South Park. Which is a shame because they really could have gone over the top with the idea of the multiverse which is something that they do hint at at the end of special but it's something that would have been really cool to see as seeing South Park take apart something that's infecting modern day cinema could have been really entertaining and seeing the different South Park universes could have been really fun to see but at the same time it's also something that would have felt like padding as well.

I've held of on it for long as I could but I have to talk about the so called "controversy" surrounding this special. As a certain group of people got upset that South Park was making fun of both race and gender swapping characters for no reason yet those exact same people were more then OK when South Park mocked people who believed differently from them in The Pandemic Special and don't realise that just like The Simpsons South Park takes aim at anybody and everything just because they were taking on something that those people liked and agree with doesn't mean that they can't show us the funny side to that idea if anything it means that they should do it more often as the gender and race swapped versions of the characters in this special were actually well written and were very entertaining for the really small and short amount of time that they were on screen.

Now then this special has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly forty eight minuets and forty seconds. Which was a bit on the long side for this special as the special really doesn't have alot of story to cover that large amount of running time in the first place with alot of the stuff with Randy mostly feeling like padding even tho it's very entertaining which is a shame because they could have stretched this episode alot more just by developing the alternate universe of San , Kyle and Kenny all of whom get the short end of the stick as we don't get to really spend alot of time in the alternate world which is something that we could have done if the makers of this of this special well and truly wanted to but I will admit that this special really does have some really good pacing to it.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very special was in all honesty really good. With this special having a lot of truly laugh out loud moments with alot of what alternate Cartman says being true comedy gold and even the idea that Kathleen Kennedy is somehow involved is just a funny idea with the same thing also being true for the fact that all of the parents of the main universe South Park just accepting the fact that Cartman is now a now female of color also being a really funny running gag and the fact that all of the handymen in town are now wealthy for no reason is just a funny idea in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really fun and funny special but at the same time it's neither as fun nor as funny as it perhaps could or maybe even really should have been as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very special in this very review and as such that meas that this very special really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

South Park: Post Covid Film Review

 

South Park is a franchise that will never get pulled of the air because of the fact that is so outrageous and well even tho there's been no real new series of South Park this year the cast and crew have gotten together to produce a grand total of fifteen new made for TV movies. With the first of these new movies having just been released the other day and so join me as I review the film that is the first new South Park film since South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut with the film in question being called simply just "South Park: Post Covid" enjoy.

The plot of this movie forty years into the future somebody has supposedly killed of Kenny and so it's up a now adult tan , Kyle and Cartman to figure who has killed there friend before it's far to freaking late. Now then in terms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot of this film in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot of this film was really freaking and while the plot is technically unfinished it is still a rather freaking enjoyable story to see being played out in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then in terms of / as for what I personally thought about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very was really very freaking good. Which this is something which shouldn't in all honesty come as surprise to absolutely anybody whatsoever since South Park has always had some good acting in it and so it only makes sense this film would feature some really freaking acting within it as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then believe it or not this is the first official South Park film since 1999's  South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. Even tho yes we did technically get a movie made up of the three Imginationland episodes but nobody in either the South Park fanbase nor anybody whom is working on South Park is crediting that movie as the second which is a good thing since from what I can remember the Imginationland movie was a pretty freaking ad movie anyways in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then unlike with South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut I really do think that you need to have seen at the very least the two previous South Park Covid specials. Since all three specials are basically a trilogy at this point which is a good thing since it does provide each special and of course thus the show with a strong sense of continuity but at the same time the show made it decades without having much in there in terms of continuity and so it really does feel very out of place to see three specials share a sense of continuity between each other in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then we don't really get to catchup with alot of our favourite South Park characters which is a shame because there's quite a lot of really funny things that they could have done with the grown up versions of those characters which could have been super freaking funny. Like how funny would it have been to see Ike as like this grown up mothers boy type of character or how funny would it have been to have seen Shelley grow up to be a government official there's lots of things that the creators of this film could've done but they didn't do any of them for some unknown reason which is a shame because we could have gotten some good laughs out of those exact same grown up characters in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then this film has / had an exact running time of exactly fifty nine minuets and twenty seven seconds. Which I in all honesty thought to be / was a rather sort running time for this kind of story simply because this story could have very easily have covered at the very freaking least one hour and thirty minuets which have allowed for more set up for the future films and for more jokes to be featured / presented to us in this very freaking film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then this film is a meant to be of course a comedy film after all and so that means that I have to actually talk about the actual jokes that that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual jokes that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film are really freaking good. Like heck the jokes that are in this film are perhaps even the best freaking pert of this film because they take shots at absolutely anybody and everything which is what all good comedy should do and should be about we shouldn't be afraid to offend people with out comedy or jokes because comedy or jokes are meant to offend you and are meant to be offensive as well as being funny which is the case with the jokes in this film because the jokes that are in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.  

Overall this film was such a good film and I cannot wait for next months South Park film to arrive just so that I can see how this ongoing story continues / develops and I think that we can all agree that right now is the time when we all need a little bit of South Park the freaking most in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that / this means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 9.5 out of 10 from me.

South Park "The Pandemic Special" Review

 

In times of crisis there are so few people that you can count on to keep us entertained and well one of those people if the team behind South Park. I full on admit when this pandemic really started I knew that at somepoint the team behind South Park would be taking a shot at it and well I was freaking right and I have to say that this is the episode that we need right now and so here is my review of "The Pandemic Special" enjoy the review everyone.

The plot behind the special is that the town of South Park is getting used to a new normal whatever form it takes but not all people espically Eric Cartman are happy about it even more so when it means going to back to school. I will admit the plot of the episode is perhaps it's weakest aspect since it's pretty thinly drawn which is a shame because South Park doing an episode about the current pandemic the story just writes itself but the story just isn't that good in my opinion.

Now here I would normally list who is in the episode however since the cast for this episode and this show is pretty well known i'm honestly just not going to. I will say tho that all of the people that you expect to be in this episode and by that I mean the series regular cast are indeed in this episode and they are all playing there regular characters which is honestly to be expected but since I can't find a complete cast list and like I said the cast for this show is pretty well known anyway I thought that it was something worth saying anyways.

For once I cannot think of single bad performer for this show because all of the actors in the episode do such a good job playing there characters. To me what helps the actors in this episode is that there taking on something that's happening right now and so they can draw from there own experiences and any issues that they might have experienced during these difficult and let's face weird and bizarre times and so that makes the acting to me feel more real if that makes any kind of sense.

Doing the animation for this special episode is I assume South Park Studios since that's the only company I can find related to the animation but I could be wrong. I have to say that the animation in this special was a lot better then what I thought it would be I honestly feel that the animation in this special is something that would be right at home in a South Park movie because it's that good and is a huge upgrade from what we get in the show in my opinion.

Part of what makes me feel like this animation would suit being in a new South Park movie is the opening shot of Cartman's house. It's huge 3D CGI shot and you see the camera slowly move towards the house and in through the window to Cartman's bedroom this is honestly something that you wouldn't see in an average episode of the show and while I can see why since the average episode is produced on a schedule of six to seven days the fact that such a shot is included here to me shows what the team can do if they really wanted to.

Now while the main focus of the episode is indeed the pandemic and how that effects different people in different ways. The episode also very briefly touches on another social issue which i'm not going to say what it is just because I don't want any arguments to break out but when the scene that starts it came on I knew that it was going to cause quite a stir and while i haven't looked to see if i'm right I feel that the way the makers of this special chose to handle it works well for this special and I ask that if you do know what scene i'm on about I ask that you do not come at or anyone else who doesn't agree with you and your opinion we're here to have fun and talk about South Park and nothing else.

This episode makes fun of alot of people from every corner that the current pandemic has been looked at. Which yeah I feel is a good thing because sometimes we do need to laugh at ourselves and the situation that we are currently in which is honestly the thing that we need the most right now because if we can't learn to laugh at our selves and those around is in this current climate then who can we have a laugh at.

Just going back to what I was talking about before with the episode taking shots at everyone one of I think key groups people that this episode takes shots at is the people who same you for not wearing a mask. This was honestly a brave move on the part of the people who make the show because they risk upsetting a possibly huge part of there audience but at the same time it wouldn't be South Park if they didn't go out and offend people and the fact that they do it in a way that not only works within the story but is also pretty funny when you think about is for me at least a plus for this special and is something that I hope people laugh at in the future or are currently laughing at right now.

On to a much more lighter note this episode is the show / franchises first hour long special with the special clocking in at around forty seven and a half minuets. While I do feel that for the time being this kind of format would work for the show I do feel that this story would have been better told in weekly episodes hell they could have made an entire season's worth of episodes just based around the pandemic alone as well as how it effects different characters in different ways but having it be this long special does also mean that we get one of the best scenes in the special in my opinion.

To me one of if not the best scene in the entire special comes right after that amazing looking 3D CGI shot. Since they give Eric Cartman a song and it's just as ridiculous and over the top as you not only think it would be but as you'd want it to be the song is called "Social Distancing" and it's just an a amazing song that honestly had me laughing and is honestly a good way to start the special proper since lie I said we all need a good laugh and it makes sense for this character to be happy about not being able to talk to people and not having to go to school.

Now then since this is a comedy that does mean that I have to talk about the jokes that are in this special. I honestly feel that this episode is one of the best episodes that South Park has produced in a long while because it is just so freaking funny I cannot count the amount of times that I laughed not only hard but out loud during this special which for me is a very rare thing to happen and so the fact that it happened here tells you how good I thought the jokes were in this special.

Overall this was a really good and a really funny episode in my opinion and it's also one that like i've said several times now that we need right now. Yes this episode isn't perfect but for a show that's been going on for this long and has been very consistent with it's episode quality I think we can forgive them for putting out an episode that's not that good as such this episode gets a near perfect score of an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

South Park "Cartman Gets An A**l Probe" Review

Animation in all my years producing reviews i've seen animated shows come and go alot leaving no impact. However there has always been one show that has not only stuck around but managed to change what it meant to be an adult animated series from it's raunchy humour to it's often controversial takes on recent topics South Park has been there to guide us and to make us laugh and so here is my review of the very first episode of the show which I have edited "Cartman Gets An A**l Probe" enjoy everyone.

The plot of the episode is Kyle's brother Ike finds himself kidnapped by Aliens which Cartman doesn't believe exist and so it's up to Kyle to get him back before there parents find out. Plot wise this is the strongest of South Park episodes which is something that even Comedy Central agree with since they weren't even sure if they were going to commission more episodes but with that being said it is still a fun story to see play out.

Starring in the episode is co-creator / co-writer / producer and director Trey Parker as Stan Marsh , Eric Cartman and Mr. Garrison. Also starring in the episode is co-creator , co-writer and producer Matt Stone as Kyle Broflovski , Kenny McCormick , Cows , Pip and Carl , Mary Kay Bergman as Liane Cartman and Wendy Testaburger , the late great Isaac Hayes as Chef  and Franchesca Clifford as Ike Broflovski.

In terms of what I thought about the acting in the episode it was honestly pretty average at best and alot of that comes down to the fact that both Trey and Matt aren't experienced writers or directors and so they have no clue what will work but as we find out they do improve over time. However what I found to be pretty over putting and at the same time interesting is the fact that alot of the characters voices are alot rougher then what we are used which while it did make the episode hard to watch just because im more used to the voices that they have now it was also interesting seeing where the characters voices started out.

Doing the animation for the episode is Celluloid Studios and if you haven't heard of them don't worry because I haven't either. As we all know South Park is known for having a cut out animation style but what many don't know is that this is the only episode to feature cut out animation and even with that in mind the animation does look pretty good yes you can tell that they are just moving the characters by hand and I think you can see a few of the animators hands in some frames but to me that adds to the charm of the show.

This episode is actually pretty freaking tame at least in terms of swearing and other adult things seen in the show. Don't get me wrong it's still there but it was more present in other episodes which to me seems like an odd way to go for this debut episode since you'd normally go all out in the first episode just to get people's attention but no Trey and Matt seem to have taken the opposite approach with this episode instead going a less equals more approach which oddly works in the episodes favour but at the same time it's not the South Park we know and love but it's close.

Now this is something that I actually didn't know and that's the fact that this episode is basically a re-edited version of an un-aired pilot both going by the same name. What makes this interesting is that the un-aired pilot gives Cartman a family we see his father and sister in the un-aired version I can't say if they speak or not but I find it interesting that these two characters would be wiped from the show's canon.

The un-aired pilot also adds in alot of scenes which I don't know if they add to the overall story or not but it does make me wonder why alot of the scenes were cut out of the final version. You can actually watch the un-aired pilot as it's on the complete second season DVD box set so it would be interesting to watch just to see why the removed scenes where cut from the aired version of the episode and to see what Cartman's father and sister were like as characters.

Now if you know the show and considering it's been on for well over twenty years then you'll know that Cartman's mother has a bit of a shall we say past with the whole male gender of the town. Well shockingly they did kind of hint at her more I guess naughty side in this episode i'm not going to repeat what's said but let's say it has something to do with the fact that Cartman called his cat a d**do and his mother said that the cat is sleeping with her tonight.

I can honestly see why Comedy Central didn't want to order more episodes after this one since this isn't the best representation of the show whatsoever. Don't get me wrong it's damn close to how the final show would end up being but at the same time this pilot episode feels like a pilot to another show and not to South Park since it barely resembles what South Park is and what it's capable of doing when it's at it's best.

Now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to talk about the jokes that are in the episode itself. Which I honestly have very mixed feelings about because while there are indeed some very funny jokes in this episode like the fact that the Aliens have Cartman "transform" and sing "I Love To Singa" is a very funny joke but at the same time there are jokes that aren't like the fart jokes which are never funny.

Overall this is very mixed bag of an episode with alot of good things in it but there's also alot of bad things present as well. There are hints of how good South Park can be when it's at it's best with alot of funny jokes but at the same time there are hints of how bad the show can be as well with alot of jokes not landing and the writing being very hit and miss as such this episode gets an 8.5 out of 10 from this long time South Park fan.
