Tom And Jerry: The Two Mouseketeers Review

Tom And Jerry fans it's been at the very least two years since i've talked / spoken about some of the classic Tom And Jerry shorts and well I wanted to put that to an end today. As such I went out and I think that i've found perhaps the darkest al all heck ending to a Tom And Jerry cartoon ever and yes i'm counting the ending the ending to "Blue Cat Blues" in there as well and so join me as I review the 1952 Tom And Jerry cartoon with the cartoon / short film in question being called simply just "The Two Mouseketeers" enjoy.

The plot of this Tom And Jerry cartoon is that Tom is tasked with guarding the French King's banquet table and all seems to be going swimmingly that is until Jerry and his friend Nibbles show up looking for some food. In terms of what I thought about the plot of this Tom And Jerry cartoon / short film in all honesty the plot of this cartoon was really simple that works great for Tom And Jerry since the Tom And Jerry cartoons were never about telling complex stories and so seeing that this cartoon had a rather simple story is in my opinion at least a step in the right direction / a very good thing indeed.

Starring in this cartoon is animation legend and Tom And Jerry co-creator / co-writer and co-director William Hanna as Tom Cat , Jerry Mouse and possibly what I think is the King's butler and Francoise Brun-Cottan as Nibbles. As is very well known at this point in time Tom And Jerry cartoons never use voice actors in alot of the Tom And Jerry cartoons / shorts with Tom And Jerry themselves remaining silent apart from the occasional yell from either Tom or Jerry and as such it honestly makes the acting in this short hard to judge since there are only two actors appearing in this cartoon and trust me i've looked pretty much everywhere online to find a complete cast list and there simply isn't a complete cast list for this cartoon out there.

As for what I personally thought about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this cartoon in all honesty the acting that's featured / presented to us in this cartoon was really good. Since Francoise Brun-Cottan does turn in a good performance as Nibbles even tho her voice isn't heard that much in this cartoon and it's always a delight to hear William Hanna yell as loud as he can as Tom Cat and yes William Hanna does also turn in a really / pretty good performance as both Tom Cat and as well as Jerry Mouse.

Doing the animation for this film are the animators Irven Spence , Ed Barge and Kenneth Muse who I really feel did a good job with the animation in this cartoon. Since in my opinion at least the animation that's featured / presented to us in this cartoon / short cartoon is really good with all of the characters having really fluid movements and the backgrounds are highly detailed and I have to give props to whomever animated Nibbles on top of the moving canon near the end of the cartoon because that would have been hard work back in the very early nineteen fifties and heck it still would be hard work to this very day but they pulled it off in this cartoon and in my opinion at least it honestly does indeed look great.

As you can all work out by the title of this cartoon the name of this cartoon is a play on The Three Musketeers however apart from parodying the title and having this cartoon being set in seventeenth centaury France this cartoon has nothing really in common with Alexandre Dumas novel. I honestly feel that only parodying The Three Musketeers title is perhaps the only way that you could tell the story of even use the characters of The Three Musketeers in a Tom And Jerry cartoon since using the actual three musketeers would make Tom And Jerry feel more like side characters in their own cartoon / short film / series.

Now then boys and girls i've been giving this cartoon alot of praise but there are a  few things that I personally didn't like with the first thing being the fact that for a Tom And Jerry cartoon that features alot of food this cartoon is pretty freaking tame and the fact that this cartoon makes Jerry and Nibbles out to be the villains. Now I can handle the lack of extreme violence that's in this cartoon simply due to how this cartoon ends (however that is still an issue for me personally) however I cannot ignore the fact that Jerry and Nibbles are being portrayed as the bad guys in this cartoon since neither Jerry nor Nibbles are bad guys they just like to have fun and so having them be the straight up bad guys is out of character for both characters but that's just what I think and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways.

Now then boys and girls you see when I said that this cartoon was dark as all heck I really did mean because the ending to this cartoon is super freaking dark. Since this cartoon ends with Tom straight up getting killed by getting his head chopped of and no they don't reveal that Tom was somewhere else and Jerry and Nibbles saw someone else getting beheaded so that makes the ending to this cartoon alot , lot , lot , lot , lot , lot darker then the ending to "Blue Cat Blues" since in this cartoon a main character actually does end up dying.

Now then boys and girls this cartoon / short film has a grand total running time of seven minuets and five seconds and well I have to say that this is the perfect running time for this particular cartoon / short film. Simply because there really isn't enough story to even get this cartoon / short film to say twenty two minuets or even ten minuets for that matter and having this short film / cartoon come in at seven minuets and five seconds means that we can put a little effort on this particular cartoons / short films story and as well as put a lot of effort into the comedy and violence that's featured / presented to us in this particular cartoon / short film.

Now then boys and girls this cartoon is a comedy after all and that means that we / I have to talk about the actual comedy that's featured / presented to us in this / the actual cartoon itself and well if i'm being honest the comedy that's featured / presented to us in this cartoon / short film is at best pretty funny. Which for a Tom And Jerry cartoon simply isn't good enough but there are one or two good jokes in this cartoon / short film and some of the slapstick is in my opinion at least pretty freaking funny.

Overall this is a really good and deeply disturbing cartoon (since who seriously wants to see Tom Cat getting beheaded that's like saying that you want to see a sequel the 1992 animated film Tom And Jerry: The Movie) but with that said there is some good to be found in this cartoon / short film just not much sadly. Now then boys and girls since i've talked about both of the good things and as well as both of the bad things that are in this cartoon in this very review that means that this cartoon gets a solid 7.5 out of 10 from me.

As for where I got all the images that I used in this review well then boys and girls I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Tom And Jerry fandom wiki page and since I only went to one website for the images that I used in this very review. I have no choice but to recommend that you guys use the official Tom And Jerry fandom wiki page if you guys want to use any images that are to do with Tom And Jerry but fair warning even tho the images that are on the official Tom And Jerry fandom wiki page might not look either high quality or as well as high definition the images that are featured n the official Tom And Jerry fandom wiki page actually are both petty high quality and well as being pretty freaking high definition.
