Mighty Morphin Power Rangers "A Bad Reflection On You" Review

One of the favorite things for the Power Rangers to do is to have an evil Ranger with this being mist well done in the Green With Evil five parter. However many people seem to forget or just straight up don't know about the fact that season of this show also did another episode where clones of the rangers were used to destroy their reputation and it's that very episode that i'm going to be talking to you all about today an so then join me as I review the episode that really is basically just The Breakfast Club but with Power Rangers with the episode in question being called simply just "A Bad Reflection On You" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when evil clone of the rangers are sent to Earth by Rita to destroy the rangers reputation it's up to the Rangers to breakout of detention and save the world once again. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot thats actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as this episodes plot does have a few things going for it but in saying that it does also have alot of things thar are working against it like the fact that Rita's evil plan for this episode is just to destroy the rangers reputation and that's really it which even for her does come across as being a bit on the weak side of things with even the plot of the episode itself not really being the strongest Power Rangers plot out there as it does feel like that this whole episode could have been wrapped up in about five minuets but for whatever reason the makers of this show thought that this episodes plot was good enough to be made into a full length episode when it really isn't and this is coming from a show where the plots are pretty formulaic at best and yet here what we got plot wise was basically a knock of of The Breakfast Club only it's now got Power Rangers in it as both the plot of this episode and the plot of that film are so strikingly similar to one another that they are basically the same story just told a little bit differently is all but in saying that tho this episodes plot is a pretty fun plot with it knowing that it's a bad episode and is therefor just willing to have alot of fun with it with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Austin St. John as Jason Lee Scott , Thuy Trang as Trini Kwan and Walter Jones as Zack Taylor. Also starring in this episode is Amy Jo Johnson as Kimberly Ann Hart , David Yost as Billy Cranston , Paul Schrier as Farkas "Bulk" Bulkmeier , Jason Narvy as Eugene "Skull" Skullovitch , Harold Cannon as Mr. Caplan . Robert L. Manahan as the voice of Zordon , Richard Steven Horvitz as the voice of Alpha 5 , Barbara Goodson as the voice of Rita Repulsa , Kerrigan Mahan as the voice of Goldar , Robert Axelrod as the voice of Finster , Michael J. Sorich as the voice of Squatt , Dave Mallow as the voice Baboo , Wendee Swan as the voice of Scorpina and Bryan Cranston as the voice of Twin Man.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty i in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty alot more better then what it really had any right to be. As by all rights this episodes acting should have been really bad as this is a plot that really doesn't require the best acting in it in the first place and given that Power Rangers still isn't best known for it's great acting it's shocking to see the acting that was in this episode was actually pretty good granted it's not OSCAR worthy acing but at the same time tho it was never going to be with this episodes actors even turning in some really good performances in their own right as well which is something that does make alot of sense when it comes to the series main actors as they'd been playing there characters for quite sometime at this point in time and so they would have gotten a much more better grip on there characters and can deliver the kind of performance that would best suit there respective characters with it really being hard to say just who the best actor is in this episode as without going the more cliche route and say that it's Bryan Cranston the best actor in this episode would have to be Thuy Trang as even tho she doesn't get alot of lines in this episode what little lines that she does get she makes them count which does make you remember just how good of an actor that she really was with the acting that's in this episode not really being helped by the fact that this episodes script was just so bad as it gives none f this episodes actors absolutely nothing to work interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities was even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

What felt really weird in this episode was the fact that the characters of Bulk & Skull were thrown into detention with the rest of the rangers this is despite the fact that Bulk & Skull as far as we'd seen haven't done anything wrong. Which does make there inclusion in this episode feel pretty pointless as all they are there to do is just to give the rangers a small off handed hint that somethings not right just by having Kim turn down another date from Skull something which her evil counterpart failed to do and even then that doesn't really require them to be in the episode as much as they are they as the rangers know full well that somethings up just by the fact that the got detention for doing nothing at all and the fact that there's a news report with there evil counterparts attacking the city which does make the inclusion of Bulk & Skull in this episode feel pretty pointless despite there somewhat expended roles in the episode now if Bulk & Skull were present when the evil rangers pulled there prank and Mr. Caplan assumed that they were in on it just due to the fact hat there schools bullies then what would be a different thing as that would be one character just simply making a rash decision and that's really it but it's the fact that they weren't there in the first place with them only appearing before the prank talk place and yet still round up in detention with the rangers granted they could have been punished for doing something else which would be fair enough but the episode doesn't tell us that so therefor we have to assume that there being punished for the same thing that the rangers did which is something that's just unfair as they technically do nothing wrong the entire episode.

Whilst there was another episode earlier on in season 1 of this show that did have two of the original five rangers be turned evil this is the first time that we see evil clones of the rangers. With really the only thing that makes them evil is the fact that when they remove there glasses there eyes glow red for some bizarre reason as they don't dress any different from the rangers but in fairness to this episode they all do act differently from them with them all acting like school bullies with Billy even shoving down one of the more geekier kids in school and while the idea of the showing us the evil clones is a cool idea it is something that does make you wonder how Rita knows what the rangers look like unmorphed because she quite clearly does know what they look like unmorphed and yet the worst thing that she has them don is pull a prank on the school Principal when they would have been able to teleport into the command centre and attack Zordon and possibly even destroy the base something which would hsve helped her out in her quest to destroy the world and while yes just attacking the school does make sense as this is still a kids shows afterall from the point of view of the villain and from within the confides of the show itself it's not somethin that does make that much sense as she's meant to be this all evil character who is hell bent on destroying the world and the rangers and here she has the golden opportunity to do just that by having the evil clones attack the rangers command centre and Zordon and Alpha an yet she doesn't take it but to give her some credit the idea of creating evil clones of the rangers is a good idea as it is something that does leave you wondering who is the good guy and who is the bad guy when it come to the final fight.

Early episodes of this show is also slightly known for it's continuity issues due to the fact that the Sentai footage doesn't always match with what there showing on screen. With the same thing being true here as well as the in the final fight the rangers go from celebrating on a street to being in the middle of something else that has a giant flower celebration type of object in the middle of it which is something that you can sort of look past as you could argue that it was there all along and that we just never saw it however the issues still continue after that as we see at the very least two very Japanese looking kids approaching Billy in the wide shot and yet in the close up shot it's one very white looking older lady and one man this is a case where the makers of this episode should have tried to hire Asian looking actors as extra as that's something that would have helped to blend the Japanese footage alot more better with the American footage as as by not doing that all it does is create continuity issues but again this isn't something that's exclusive to this episode as it's something that also happens quite alot in the show as a whole as well and while some of it isn't that really that noticeable as you can edit around certain things to blend the scenes together more smoothly here it did feel like that the makers of this show just couldn't be bothered to do that and so they kept in the continuity error with Billy most likely thinking that the kid audience wouldn't notice it which is fair enough and again to be fair nobody really notices all of the continuity issues when it comes to the episodes action scenes in the first place as alot of that isn't due to the fault of this show as there just making the best with what footage that they've got to work with in the first place.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty minuets and six seconds. Which in all fairness to this episode is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this show at this point in time with the episode not quite having enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time as you very easily could have told this episodes entire plot in about five to ten minuets just by removing or cutting upon all of the stuff in the school's detention as alot of that really isn't needed as it adds nothing to the plot of the episode and is only there for pure filler with the episode really using it's running tom as wisely as it could have done as while yes granted this episode doesn't fully develop it's plot at the same time it really doesn't need to as you all you really need for a show like Power Rangers is just the basic premise and that's it and while yes alot of the multipart episode do benefit from having a well more developed plot this isn't an episode that really needs as this is meant to be the calm before the storm as just two episodes later we'd get the Doomsday two parter with this episode not even fully developing any of it's characters either which again it really doesn't need to as you could very well make the case for the previous episodes giving all the main hero characters all of the development that they need with even Bulk & Skull get there character developed over the course of several series but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really bad pacing to it tho as to be blunt the episode and more importantly the final fight scene goes by far to quickly for us the audience to fully enjoy it.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With this episode having alot of really cool action in it with the only thing that does let the action down is the fact that you really can't tell who the good rangers are and who the evil rangers which yes is due to the Sentai footage but at the same time there could have been something added to the suits of the evil rangers just to make them standout a bit even if it's something as simple as adding a slight glitter effect to them as that then would make it so much more easier for us the audience to tell just who the good rangers are and who the evil rangers with the best action scene in this whole entire episode also being the only action scene in this episode and that's the final fight between both sets of rangers as it will always be cool seeing the hero rangers fighting there evil clones with the camera even doing some really cool looking one shot moves as well which is something that only served to make the action even more cooler then what it already is with this episodes action being helped by the fact that the even the hero rangers can't tell each other apart which does an extra layer of drama to the scene as you never really know if the person that there attacking is a friend or foe which is something that does make that action scene all the more exciting in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst it is hard to say if this is the best episode of the show or not as there are countless others from countless season that could very easily take that claim what can be said tho is that despite all of this episodes flaws that this episode really is a fun filled episode that is pure fun to watch in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Power Rangers fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very episode that I used in this very review being the really great Google Images really simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not really all of the images that are all really from this very episode with alot of them being better quality then what you'd really think of and all of the images are really of course up and really on Google Images are also really all fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.
