The Simpsons "The Principal And The Pauper" Review

It's been a good few years since I last covered anything from The Simpsons TV show and will with the show now back to getting rave reviews from both fans and critics alike. I thought that that now was the right time to take a look at another episode from the show with the episode being one that actually got some hate from the fans back when it first aired and so then join me as I review the episode that gives a side character some much needed back story with the episode in question being called simply just "The Principal And The Pauper" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when a secret about his past is reveled Principal Skinner has to make a life changing decision. Now then then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as it was a really good plot that does give the Principal Skinner character some much needed backstory as nothing all that much about the character had been revealed up until this episode and to the episodes credit it does so in a way that is genuinely quite shocking and yet also in keeping with the style of the show as the show up until this point in time was all about doing new and creative things with it's characters and that's something that the plot of this episode does wonderfully with the episode even giving some of the spotlight to Agnes which makes sense and seeing her have this heart to heart with her son was something that worked well and wasn't just thrown in because the plot needed it to happen as it felt like something that the character would do with it being something that does add to the plot of the episode rather take away from it with the only real issue regarding the episodes plot is the fact that it doesn't give us the chance to really get to the real Seymour Skinner as the plot just has him appear in a few scenes and that's really it where as a character that's this important to the plot of the episode really should have played a more active role in the plot of the episode itself with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Also starring in this episode is Julie Kavner as Marge Simpson , Nancy Cartwright as Bart Simpson , Nelson Muntz and Ralph Wiggum , Yeardley Smith as Lisa Simpson , Hank Azaria as Superintendant Chalmers , Harry Shearer as Principal Skinner / Armin Tamzarian , Kent Brockman and Judge Snyder , Marcia Wallace as Edna Krabappel , Tress MacNeille as Agnes Skinner , Maggie Roswell as Miss Hoover and Martin Sheen as Sgt. Seymour Skinner.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Which is something that really does make a whole lot of sense as the overall majority of this episodes actors have been with the show playing there respective characters since the very episode of the show and are STILL playing them all of these later and as such it really would make sense that they would know how best to perform there respective characters as they've had several years to perfect playing them at this point in time with it really being hard to say just who exactly was the best actor in this episode and really anyone of this episodes actors could make a very viable claim that they are best actor in this episode and it would totally be justified as all of this episodes actors are just that good with a slight edge going to both Tress MacNeille as Agnes Skinner and Harry Shearer as they both really do get a chance to shine in this episode and really get the chance to show us just what it is that they can both do as actors with the acting that's in this film episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Akom Production Company and Film Roman Productions. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good as while there was nothing that really stood out in this episode from an episode from an animation point of view all of the characters do have some really nice fluid movements to them with there even being a lot of known characters in group shots or in the background something that the show wouldn't typically do and yet here they are in this episode with this episodes animation even having some small details like the fact that when we see the helicopter flying in the flashback scene we see the wind coming from it's blades pushing down the grass below it which was a nice little touch and it's something that the makers of this episode really didn't have to include at all with the episode having lots of little touches like that that do help to make this episodes animation so much more better then what it really had any right to be as by all rights the animators that worked on this episode really didn't have to put in alot of effort into giving this episode some good quality animation and while yes granted this episodes animation isn't as good as other episodes it still doesn't change that the animation in this episode is still not only good but also of a really high quality as well.

As was stated at the very start of this review this episode does delve into the backstory of Principal Skinner by not only revealing that he was in the army but also the fact that he's not really Seymour Skinner. With him only taking up that name due to the fact that he believed that his commander in chief and his mentor was killed in combat and so he took up that name not only to spare his mother the news that her son might be dead but also to honor his memory with this aspect of the episode being one of a few reasons as to why the fans of this show are very mixed about it with some calling it the best episode ever due to the fact that it does show us a human side of Principal Skinner with others hating as it's taking a character that we've known since the shows first proper episode and not telling us that he's not who we all thought that he was with even show creator Matt Groening and Skinner's voice actor Harry Shearer not even being that big of a fan of the episode with Shearer even being quoted in a 2001 interview as saying "That's so wrong. You're taking something that an audience has built eight years or nine years of investment in and just tossed it in the trash can for no good reason, for a story we've done before with other characters. It's so arbitrary and gratuitous, and it's disrespectful to the audience." with him being quoted at a later date as saying "Now, the writers refuse to talk about it. They realize it was a horrible mistake. They never mention it. It's like they're punishing the audience for paying attention." with Groening simply stating that he thought that the episode was a mistake which does track as then showrunners Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein do state on the DVD commentary for the episode that it did take a while for them to get Matt to agree to the episode.

On paper this episode really could have worked and really could have been a fan favorite episode as it does have all of the right ingredients. All it really needed was to focus alot more on Sgt. Skinner as that would then give us the audience a reason to care about his character and not do anything that goes against what we know about the character of Seymour Skinner in the first place which this episode could very easily do as his backstory was delved into in other episodes of the show but weather or not it does is something that I can't say as i've not seen those episodes but they do retcon the fact that Seymour knows Ned as according tot this episode he's never met him before this is despite the fact that in an earlier episode of the show he teamed up with Bart to get Ned ousted as school principal so he would there for know who Ned Flanders is and given that both Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein wrote that episode you'd think that they would remember that but it seems not as they don't even mention it in the DVD commentary for the episode as they spend quite literally the entire commentary just defending the episode and not really giving us any interesting piece of information about the episode outside of the fact that it's an episode that was due to air as the last episode of season eight and that's really it with this episode being one that does work if you haven't watched that many episodes of The Simpsons but at the same time tho this is an episode that despite having a really good premise to it just doesn't work all that well. 

What is really shocking is the very idea that Agnes might have secretly known all along that Armin Tamzarian wasn't her real son. As when he comes to tell her that her son has died before reversing course and then claiming to be her son she then has to direct him to where her sons bedroom is something that she wouldn't have had to have done if that really was her son as he'd already know where his bedroom is so maybe she saw something in Armin Tamzarian like the fact that he is also dealing with the grief of loosing someone close to him just like she's dealing with the grief of potentially loosing someone close to her and in that way they both did kind of need each other not to reveal that they know the truth as a way for them both to move on with this even leading to sweet moment between the two near the end of the episode where she states that not only has she known him far more longer then her real son but that she was actually more of a mother to him because of it with that statement being what convinces Tamzarian to return to Springfield and that was a nice little thing to have as it should have been Agnes that convinces him to return as she would know him the best and given that we spend the vast majority of this show with her bossing him around it was nice to see a more caring side to her character as well as we get to see that she really does care for Armin Tamzarian like an actual son something that we really hadn't seen before now with it being something that does work in the context of this episode as at that moment he didn't need to be yelled at by her he just needed to be mothered by her and that's exactly what we got in this episode.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty two minuets and forty four seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this show to have and to this episodes credit it really does have more the  enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time however tho this episode really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the Sgt. Skinner character who is also meant to be a leading character in this episode plot isn't given that much screen time to actually show us why we should care him and to get across just what exactly he's like as a character as we don't even get to find out all that much about him outside of the fact that he's just several years working in a sweat shop in China and that's really it and this is something that does harm the episode as it means that us the audience aren't given a reason to care about his character and therefor when the characters quite literally wheel him out of Springfield in the back of train we feel nothing and while seeing some of Tamzarian's backstory was nice it would have worked just as well if we got to see things from the point of view Agnes as we don't know what she was thinking or feeling the moment that she saw Tamzarian answer her door and start to tell her that her real son might have been killed as that is something that could have added something to her character as well and while her role in the episode is fine without knowing what she thinking or feeling at that moment it is something that could have added some extra emotional weight to when she talks Tamzarian back into coming back to Springfield but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us un this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. However tho at the exact same time this episodes comedy wasn't as good nor as clever as it was in earlier episodes of the show as there aren't that many actually laugh out loud moments in this episode which is something that might make sense as this episode was more drama focused then comedy focused but at the same time tho this show was always a comedy and therefor the focus should always be on giving us good jokes and this was something that the makers of this show did understand even during this ninth season of the show and yet for some strange reason this episode just doesn't have that many actually funny moments in it with the best joke in the episode being when Kent Brockman does a segment on the real Seymour Skinner only for those that he works with to put a picture of Armin Tamzarian and when he corrects them on this they put up a picture of the real Skinner only now it's upside to which he just calls them all stupid and that's really it and even that joke isn't that good as even the episodes ending joke with the characters vowing to never mention Sgt. Skinner ever again and pretend that Armin is the real Seymour Skinner isn't as funny as it really could have been as while it's in there characters for them all to say something like that it's just not as good of a joke as it really could have been in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Overall while this might not the best episode of this show it's certainly not the worse one either and it's not that truly deserves all of the hate that it got as the premise is solid enough it just needed to be executed a bit better is all but because it wasn't it does mean that the episode wasn't as good as it really could have been tho and that is something that really does let this episode down by quite a bit in my freaking opinions anyways / at least Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

The Simpsons "Girly Edition" Review

 

Fans of The Simpsons it's been a little over a year since I last covered an episode of The Simpsons and well I thought that it was right time to cover another episode from this rather iconic show. I'm not going to say that this is a classic episode heck I don't that die hard Simpsons fans like this episode all that much and so then join me as I review the episode that aimed to make kids and little kids alike like the news with the episode in question being called simply just "Girly Edition" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is Lisa and Bart and tasked with hosting a news programme aimed at kids but when Bart becomes more popular Lisa starts to get jealous. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad with this episodes plot being quite enjoyable in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson , Itchy ,Krusty The Clown , Groundskeeper Willie and Grampa Simpson , Julie Kavner as Marge Simpson and Nancy Cartwright as Bart Simpson and Richard. Also starring in this episode is Yeardley Smith as Lisa Simpson , Jo Ann Harris as Lewis Clark , Pamela Hayden as Milhouse Van Houten , Hank Azaria as Apu Nahasapeemapetilon , Harry Shearer as Waylon Smithers, Jr. , Mr. Burns , Scratchy , Seymour Skinner and Kent Brockman and Tress MacNeille as Crazy Cat Lady.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured /presented to us in this very well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With all of this episodes main cast members turn in some really good performances in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Doing the animation for this episode is Film Roman Productions and the legend and the greats that are currently over at Rough Draft Korea. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad with this episodes animation being very well done but at the same time this episodes animation was also fairly bad in some places in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

I believe that season nine is where the show started to repeat alot of plotlines but I might be wrong tho and that is very clear with Bart and Lisa's plotline. Which sees the two go through another dose of sibling sibling rivalry which plays out exactly how you'd think that it would which really does make me wonder why they always go back to this plotline when the episodes that see them working together to overcome a common enemy works so much better and are much more stronger plotlines in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

They do give Homer somewhat of a plotline in this episode with a helper monkey but it really doesn't go anywhere nor does it play into the main plot of the episode. Which is a shame because it's such an entertaining plotline and it would have given us something that's fresh and new which is something at this point in time the show was struggling to do because of how many episodes were being produced per season and so they should have made this episodes main plot the B plot and they should have made the B plot the main plot of this episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

I have to admit that I really did like how Kent Brockman gives Bart advice and it's just the most unhelpful piece of advice. Which is just fitting for his character since his character is a fame hungry person and so of course he'd know the cheapest and laziest way to get people to like him and it also gives Bart kind of a father figure or mentor type of character which again works well for the character of Kent Brockman in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this episodes running time even was but I do know that for a fact that this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly twenty one minutes and fifty one seconds. Which I felt was kind of short amount of running time to do this story justice since it meant that the plot points felt rushed and didn't really earned at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty pretty weak. While there are some decent jokes in this episode there are also a lot of rather unfunny jokes as well which for a classic Simpsons episode isn't a good thing at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a decent episode but it's also a rather weak episode of the show which is a shame because this episode does have some really good ideas within it in my freaking opinion anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that means that this very episode erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

The Simpsons "The City Of New York Vs. Homer Simpson" Review

 

Fans of The Simpsons since i've been making more of an effort to make a review based on episodes of the Simpsons alot more often and alot more quickly then what I had been doing previously. I thought that now was the right time to talk about another classic episode of the show with episode being one of the very episodes of The Simpsons to get banned from syndication a little while and so join me as I review was perhaps the most controversial episode of The Simpsons with the episode itself being called simply just "The City Of New York Vs. Homer Simpson" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is after his car goes missing thanks to loaning his car to a forcibly sober Barney Gumble Homer Simpson finds out that his car is parked up in New York and so with the rest of his family in toe The Simpsons go and visit New York where they only have a few short days in order to pay of the massive parking violation (thanks to one Barney Gumble) bill otherwise there car will end up in the river. Now then in terms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot of this episode in all honesty I in all honesty thought / felt that the actual plot of this episode was rather freaking good and was also rather freaking simple enough to follow without getting either lost or even confused in my opinion anyways / at least. 

Starring in this episode is Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson and Barney Gumble , Julie Kavner as Marge Simpson and Nancy Cartwright as Bart Simpson. Also starring in this episode is Yeardley Smith as Lisa Simpson , Hank Azaria as Moe Szyslak , Sam The Barfly , Carl Carlson , Duffman and as The Khlav Kalash Vendor and lastly we also have the great Harry Shearer as Lenny Leonard and as Larry The Barfly.

Now then as for / in terms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was up to the shows very high standard of high quality acting. This is because all of the core cast of episode gets alot to work with since the script for this episode is also really freaking good and that helps making the acting in this episode all the more better in my opinion anyways / at least.

Doing the animation for this episode is Film Roman Productions and Rough Draft Korea and well I have to say that I really did like the animation that's featured / presented to us in this very episode. This is because The Simpsons when it was in it's prime always had some really good animation even in the shows bad episodes and the same thing is of course true for this episode in my freaking opinion anyways / at least.

Now then I think it's pretty freaking obvious as to why this episode got pulled from being in syndication. Since the main plot of this episode does indeed feature indeed the World Trade Centres and even now thinking back on why this episode was banned from syndication the TV networks really only had one choice but to pull this episode out of syndication but on the plus it is a good thing that this episode has now officially reentered syndication even with some apparently really bad edits made to this very / particular since this is a really freaking good episode in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then I will very fully much admit that this episode doesn't really do much with it's New York nor do they really make any jokes about being in New york just to get there car and nothing more then that. Which is a shame because you really could have had some fun with the New York setting but for whatever reason the makers of this show and of this episode chose not to have some fun with this episodes New York which is a completely missed opportunity in my freaking opinion anyways / anyways.

I will also very much admit that the very idea of Barney Gumble the town drunk being forced to stay sober for a very long period of time is indeed a very funny idea in my opinion anyways / at least and heck you very easily could have gotten an entire twenty two minuet episode of the show just based from that one idea alone. However tho having barney being the character that pretty much starts of the plot of this episode is also a very good use of the character as well in my freaking opinion anyways / at least.

Now then this particular / very episode has / had a grand total running time of exactly twenty one minuets and seventeen seconds and well in all honesty I in all honesty thought / feel that this particular / very episode lasted / lasts the right amount of time. Given the story the makers of this show and of this episode had to work with and in all honesty i kind of wanted this episode to be longer since I just wanted to see what The Simpsons family would get up to in New York but that in the end would have doe more damage / harm to the episode then good in my opinion anyways / at least.  

Now then since this show is a comedy show after all and there are some actual jokes to be found in this very episode that means that I have to actually talk about the actual jokes that are actually featured / presented to us in this very episode and well in my opinion anyways / at least I in all honesty think / feel that the actual jokes that are actually featured / presented to us in this very episode are very hit and miss. Since even tho there some really funny jokes to be in this very episode with the above picture being just one of them there are also alot of really unfunny jokes in this episode which for The Simpsons that's in it's prime is not a good thing at all in my opinion anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really good episode and it's also a really good episode of what The Simpsons was like when it was right there in it's very prime in my opinion anyways / at ;east but tho with all of that being said it's not a very good episode infact it's just a good episode and nothing more then that in my opinion anyways / at least. Now i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and that means that this episode earns itself a grand total score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

The Simpsons "Natural Born Kissers" Review

 

Ladies and gentlemen it's been in all honesty nearly a full year to the day that I last reviewed an episode of The Simpsons and well I in all honesty felt like taking a look at and thus reviewing another classic episode of The Simpsons and well I think that. I've found what could quite possibly be described as the most raunchiest episode of The Simpsons and so join me as I review the episode that is the final ever episode of The Simpsons Season 9 with the episode in question being called simply just "Natural Born Kissers" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is Marge and Homer think that the spark from their relationship and thus marriage has gone until they find out that almost being seen in certain situations could quite possibly reignite that spark in their relationship and also thus there marriage and all the meanwhile Bart and Lisa have fun with Grandpas own old metal detector. Now then in terms of what I personally thought / felt about the plot of this episode in all honesty I in all honesty thought / felt that the plot of this episode was rather weak which is a shame because the basic idea for this episode is a rather interesting idea and could have made for a great plotline for The Simpsons animated TV show / TV series in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then as for what I personally thought / felt about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this actual / very episode in all honesty I in all honesty thought / felt that the acting that's featured / presented to us in actual / very episode was in all honesty really freaking good. Which shouldn't come as a complete shock or even a complete surprise to anyone since the acting that's in the The Simpsons animated TV show / TV series is always really freaking good and so it only makes sense that the acting in this episode be rather or even really freaking good as well in my opinion anyways / at least.

Doing the animation for this episode is Film Roman Productions and as for what I personally thought / felt about the animation that's featured / presented to us in this very well in all honesty well even tho the animation for the The Simpsons animation TV show / TV series is usually good that sadly cannot be said for this episode in particular. Since even tho the animation for this episode is indeed really freaking good but at the same time there also quite alot of animation errors and straight continuity errors in this episode all of which brings down the overall quality of the animation that's seen in this very / particular episode in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I will for forever and a day state / say that Homer and marge are the best animated cartoon couple of all time even topping both of the married couples in the The Flintstones. This is because at least in the very early seasons of the The Simpsons you can quite clearly see why they were attracted to each other and as well as how they compliment each other but we also get to see them have genuine marriage struggles / marriage problems that other married couples have and we get to see them work through those issues and those struggles and they come out all the better for it in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then I will very fully admit that I didn't really like the fact that this episode didn't really do a deep dive into why the spark in the marriage between Homer Jay Simpson and his wife Marge Simpson was going out. Simply because that could have made a really interesting plot point and and it would have made both characters seem all the more three dimensional but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways / at least. 

Now then I will very much admit that I didn't like the fact that we didn't get any kind of resolution of / to the Bart and Lisa plotline. We don't even get a joke ending to that plotline at all it just sort of stops which for a twenty two minuet cartoon is to be expected but at the same time if you start a plotline / storyline people expect you to finish of that particular / very plotline / storyline and not just have it come to sudden stop which to me at least just screams / reeks of lazy as heck screenwriting / storytelling in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then this very / particular episode of the The Simpsons has / had a grand total running time of exactly twenty one minuets and nineteen seconds and well if im being well and truly freaking honest here people that running time actually kind of feel about right for this episodes main plotline. Since the Homer and Marge plotline doesn't have enough there in terms of either plot or story to carry anything that's remotely close to being thirty minuets but at the same time I do in all honesty feel that the Bart and Lisa plotline should and more importantly could have been alot longer heck you could have even have had an entire episode just focused on that one plotline in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then since this show is an animated comedy TV show / TV series after all that means that I have to actually talk about the actual jokes that are actually featured in this very / particular / exact episode and well in my opinion anyways / at least the actual jokes that are  featured / presented to us in this very / particular / exact episode are a very mixed bag of affairs for me personally. Since while there are indeed some very funny jokes in this episode there are also some jokes that just aren't that funny like take for example the fact that Homer gets hit on the head with every single knife and fork at the cheap restaurant that Bart and Lisa have arranged for their parents to go to for there anniversary dinner it's a good set up for a joke but the joke goes on for so long that it stops being funny and the fact that Marge doesn't agree with Homers joke that the little plastic people on top of wedding cakes have little parties whenever we people just aren't looking is just a missed opportunity to make an unfunny joke seem actually pretty freaking funny in my opinion anyways / at least.

Overall while this wasn't a bad episode it's also not an episode that was / that's as good I remember it being since my first introduction to this episode was from the The Simpsons: Too Hot For TV VHS tape and remember this episode being alot funnier but now it just hasn't aged that well and it more importantly simply just isn't that funny anymore or even that well animated in my opinion anyways / at least. Now i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this episode in this very review and as such that means that this episode gets a grand old score of an 8 out of 10 from me.

The Simpsons "Grampa vs. S****l Inadequacy" Review

 

Ladies and gentlemen i've reviewed alot of thing when it comes to animation and given that i've had alot of fun this past week i've decided to continue this trend for the foreseeable future. Since doing these reviews of animated episodes has allowed me to take a look at things that I normally such as the case with this review i've never thought of taking a look at a Simpsons until now and so here is my review of season 6 episode 10 of The Simpsons called "Grampa vs. S****l Inadequacy" and yes I will be editing the name of the episode but still enjoy the review anyway guys and girls.

The plot of the episode is Marge and Homer are having marriage problems shall we say and Grampa gives Homer a Tonic which actually helps things and so the duo get the idea to sell the tonic but things aren't that simple. The plot I found to be rather enjoyable and at the same time it was exactly what I expected from an episode of The Simpsons when it was in it's prime but at the same time the subplot with Bart and the kids or Springfield trying to adjust to life without there parents goes nowhere and the overall plot does seem rushed which given the twenty two minuet running time is rather understandable but it's still an issue.

Starring in this episode is Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson , Joe Quimby , Grampa and Barney Gumble. Also starring in the episode is  Julie Kavner as Marge Simpson , Nancy Cartwright as Bart Simpson , Nelson Muntz and Ralph Wiggum , Yeardley Smith as Lisa Simpson , Phil Hartman as Troy McClure , Harry Shearer as Al Gore , Ned Flanders and Dr. Hibbert , Hank Azaria as Raphael and Professor Frink , Maggie Roswell as Maude Flanders and Mrs. Frink and Pamela Hayden as Milhouse Van Houten.

Now I know that chances are I missed of a few actors and characters but the cast list and character list for even one episode is huge and so I had to cut it down. As for what I thought about the acting in this episode considering that all of these actors are legends due to this show it goes without saying that there performances are pretty spot on all of the main actors and even the guest actors in this episode do a really freaking good job.

Doing the episode for this episode and im assuming the entire series is Film Roman Productions who worked on the show between season 4 to season 27. Now im sucker for The Simpsons when it's in it's prime because I honestly feel that everything is better in those seasons and the same is true for the animation in this episode which while it's nowhere close to fantastic is alot better then animation seen when the show was dipping in quality.

Now I do kind of have a history when it comes to watching this episode because I started watching this episode along with a bunch of others when I was very young thanks to The Simpsons Too Hot For TV VHS. Which me and my younger brother watched alot growing up and so I know this episode inside out since for a long time it was the only Simpsons piece of home media that I had it's just a shame that I either lost or gave away that VHS tape because it must be worth a small fortune now.

This to me is a solid example of what the show was like when it was in it's prime because the episode is so well written and so so adult. I would honestly point to episodes like this if people needed proof that The Simpsons is an adult cartoon because the more recent seasons have made the show more kid friendly and that takes away from alot of what they can satire because there not aloud to put that much of there own spin on things now due to the fact that they've gone a more child friendly route which is a shame because when it wants to be The Simpsons can more adult then most adult cartoons out there which is really saying something in my own humble opinion.

This episode does try to introduce a conflict between Abe and Homer and while it is handled slightly well. The issue that I have with it is that not only does it come out nowhere it also gets resolved really quickly which is a shame because there conflict with Abe admitting that Homer was an accident is honestly shocking but it's something that comes out of nowhere with little to no build up and so what could have been a truly interesting as it is it's just there.

One of the biggest issues of this episode is something that i've already touched on earlier in the review and that's the fact that they drop a whole subplot involving Bart and the kids of Springfield trying to work out what's happening to the adults. This is honestly something that should have been wrapped up since alot of time is spent developing the plot line and so to see it get dropped entirely just make the scenes that advance that plot line seem pointless since it goes nowhere and adds up to nothing which is a shame because it could have been a funny subplot or at least I think it could have been a funny subplot anyways.

I like the fact that this episode showed us how good of a father Abe was to Homer since there are a ton of times where Homer says that Abe was bad father. As such it's nice to see  an episode that tells us that that wasn't always the case Abe wasn't a bad father he was a good father who was just trying to do the best that he could which us something that I don't think we had seen up until this point in the shows history.

                                                                                 

Now then since this is a comedy that does mean that we have to talk about the jokes that are in this episode. I honestly think that this episode was really funny there are alot of good jokes in this episode and alot of them work really well with my favourite joke being when there in the library Marge and Homer try and lie to there kids about the kind of books there looking at and they pick out books that you don't want kids to see or even some adults to see you reading which I just thought was really freaking funny.

Overall I don't think that it needs saying but I really did enjoy this episode nostalgia aside it was a really funny and well written episode. That doesn't make the episode perfect tho since as i've mentioned in this very review I did have some issues with this episode which is a shame because if these issues were fixed I would say that this is a perfect Simpsons episode but as it is this episode gets an 8 out of 10 from me.

The Simpsons Review

Cartoon fans there are so few cartoons that can truly be called iconic and I think it's safe to say that one such series is the series i'm going to take a look at today it's also a series that really should have ended by now and that series is of course The Simpsons.

Here's something that will make you all feel really old the show has been on the air for nearly thirty years regardless of what you think about the show you have to admit that's impressive and what's even more impressive is the fact that the cast has stayed with the show from the very beginning when it was just a series of shorts for The Tracy Ullman Show.

Is there really any point in me telling you the plot of the show this show is so iconic that pretty much everyone knows the plot of the show but I have to say that I like the slice of life aspect to the show since it makes the show feel more true to life and it's obviously worked since the show has been running for years so as the saying goes if ain't broke don't fix it.

The voice cast at this point is pretty much all legends and they are Dan Castellaneta , Julie Kavner , Nancy Cartwright , Yeardley Smith , Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer. I would list any guest actors but the show has so many i'm just not going to and I will say that all of the actors are phenomenal most of the actors play more then one character and I have to say you cannot tell the difference for years I had no idea that the voice of Homer was also the same guy who plays Krusty and Santa's Little Helper.

I like the rest of the world was not only a huge fan of The Simpsons but I also watched the show growing up and not just on the weekends when new episodes would air but also during the week where the channel i was watching it on would play older episodes and they still do show older episodes every night at 6pm.

As well as watching the show on TV I also remember having The Simpsons Too Hot For TV on VHS which when looking back I realized there was really nothing too hot for TV about it it was pretty tame when you think it but I had fond memories watching it.

Even tho the show is freaking legendary I cannot find out who does the animation for this show since it's animated in Korea but I can say that the animation for me was a very mixed bag in it's early years but it gets better later on and it crushes me to say that since I raised on those early seasons but it's true at least for me but I will say that when the animation in those early years is good it's freaking fantastic.

While I was doing some research for this review I found out that apart from one or two games and the comic book series there was a brief magazine , two rides which are still running plus lots and lots of books it's truly nuts how big The Simpsons is and the fact that they are still pumping more merch into this franchise.

I even found out that the premier episode "Simpsons Roasting On An Fire" wasn't the first episode produced and it wasn't intended to be the first episode to air this episode was in fact the eighth episode to be produced I can't find out which episode was intended to air first but if I was to guess i'd say it was episode to Bart The Genius since that episode has the classic Simpsons opening.

I think we can all agree that even tho Homer does some really questionable things throughout the series run he is deep down a loving father and husband take for example the premier episode where he hides the fact that he didn't get a bonus this year from his family because he didn't want to ruin Christmas for them and I can some up another example with these words Do It For Her you all know what I mean.

Like the rest of the world I thought the writing in the earlier episodes was far better and the jokes where better i'm not saying there isn't some funny moments in the latter seasons but the jokes in the latter seasons aren't as good as those in the earlier episodes and I think that's the biggest downfall of the show being on for so long.

Overall guys there's nothing I can say about this show because of how legendary it is and the fact there's over 600 episodes proves that but the show does get a 9 out of 10 from me.

  

Top 5 Cartoons That I Grew Up With

Animation fans everybody loves a good list especially if it's full of great shows which this one will be and this is my own personal list so here we go with some of the shows that i grew up watching.

5) The Simpsons

This is the longest running animated show in history and i'm proud to say that i was watching the show in it's prime there's nothing more i can say about this show except i was an instant fan from the second i saw it.

4) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1980's)

I have to admit i don't recall watching this on TV that much but i do recall watching it on VHS alot of the time and yes the show was goofy but you know what i loved it and clearly alot of people because alot of things introduced in the cartoon still exist in the TMNT lore to this day.

3) South Park

This show is everything Rick & Morty wishes it could be it's smart , it's funny and it has great social commentary whole Rick & Morty is a great show South Park is better and it's made on a weekly basis that takes guts to do something like that.

2) Animaniacs / Pinky And The Brain / Tiny Toon Adventures

I grouped these three together because there all spin offs and there all awesome altho i didn't watch that much of Pinky And The Brain from what i do recall it was a great show and i love Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures so much i still watch them to this day.

1) Looney Tunes

It was always going to be Looney Tunes they've been entertaining people for generations there characters are now so well placed in popular culture that it's hard to think of a time when we didn't know of Bugs , Daffy or Elmer.
