Scrubs 2026 SPOILER FREE Review

It seems to be in the in thing these days to reboot and revive shows from the past and make them for both a new audience and the original shows audience. With without a doubt the best one do this thus far having just aired it's final episode and well as I covered the first two episodes when they first dropped and have been hooked on this show every since it only made sense that I talk about the revival as a whole and so then join me as I give my SPOILER FREE review of the revival that dares to actually be good with the revival in question being called simply just "Scrubs" enjoy.

The plot of this show is after over ten years away J.D. returns to the place where he learnt everything about being a doctor and now has to teach a new crop of interns whilst also being the hospitals new chief of medicine. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very  show was in all honesty really good. With the revivals plot doing something that alot of the bad revivals fails to do and that's push the characters in new directions that actually make sense for there characters whilst also very much keeping in the spirit of the original show with the shows plot being so well done that you'd be forgiven for thinking that it was a plot used when the shows was originally airing as the transition to series nine to this show is that seamless and while plot wise the show doesn't focus of J.D. struggling to adjust to being the chief of medicine as well as it did back in season eight as here we only really get the one episode that's dedicated to that and it's pretty much forgotten about after the fact it is still a plot that does feel like a natural progression for his character and the while the plot of the show isn't harmed by them not focusing on this aspect it is slightly harmed by the fact that we don't get to see J.D. going through rounds with the new interns all that much which is something that is a key aspect of both shows and yet it's barely gets focused on in the show as a whole with the plot of the show also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Also starring in this show is one of this shows executive producers Donald Faison as Dr. Chris Turk , Vanessa Bayer as Sibby Wilson , Joel Kim Booster as Dr. Kevin Park , Ava Bunn as Dr. Samantha "Sam" Tosh , Jacob Dudman as Dr. Asher Green , David Gridley as Dr. Blake Lewis , Layla Mohammadi as Dr. Amara Hadi , Amanda Morrow as Dr. Dashana Trainor , Michael James Scott as Nurse Francois Dubois , X Mayo as Nurse Pippa Raymond , Darcy Michael as The New Janitor ,  Rachel Bilson as Charlie , Andy Ridings as Wes , Phill Lewis as Dr. Hooch , Robert Maschio as Dr. "The" Todd Quinlan , Judy Reyes as Nurse Carla Espinosa and John C. McGinley as Dr. Perry Cox.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very  show was in all honesty really good. The fact that this shows acting was as good as it was is something that is both surprising and yet at the same time not all that surprising as we know that the original shows actors can act as we have eight to nine seasons that back that up and yet at the same time it was surprising due to the fact that alot of the newer characters are either unknown actors or are at best very little known actors and therefor to expect a good performance from them would have been totally foolish. Yet that's exactly what we got from this shows actors with them all really nailing characters pretty much from episode two onwards with the best actor in the whole entire show being Zach Braff as Dr. John "J.D." Dorian as he and along with the rest of the returning actors do slip back into character so easily that its like that they just finished working on the original show before starting work on this one with Zach brining that same lovable energy that made the character work so well in the original show and bringing it to this show as well with this shows and while he might noy make you cry in this show his performance in this show does feel like a natural progression of what he was doing with the same character in the original show acting really being helped by the fact that this shows scripts are just so good that all this shows actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to rise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very show.

This show like the original shows either lives or died on its characters and thankfully the characters in this show are just as good as the characters that we got in the first eight seasons of the original show. As all of the new characters in this show are written with the same amount of care and love that the original shows characters got on both this show and the original show and while yes some of the new characters don't get alot of the spotlight as others do with the show mainly focusing on Dr. Samantha "Sam" Tosh , Dr. Asher Green , Dr. Amara Hadi and Dr. Dashana Trainor this is something that is kind of understandable as this show does have a big cast of characters and therefor some characters will get more focus then others. However alot of the characters that don't get alot of attention are more often then not the funniest characters of the show like the two new nurses they always have something funny to say and any scene that even just one of them is in has comedy gold in it and yet neither of them gets alot of focus with the same thing even being true for Dr. Kevin Park as he hates J.D. for getting the chief of medicine job and yet we barely see him in the show and yet whenever he does appear in the show we get some genuinely funny moments. This was something that was always going to be a balance as the show did have to balance returning characters and seeing fan favorite characters come back as well as setting up the new characters and while the balance is very well done with it seeming like an even split between the two sets of characters there are times where it does skew a little bit more towards the older characters which is fair enough as that's the characters that the die fans have back to see but if the show wants to have a future then it needs to invest more time in it's newer characters as well as its lder characters.

Like some of the good reboots / revivals like for example Wizards Beyond Waverly Place this show does maintain what it was that made the original show work so well in the first place and unlike Malcolm In The Middle: Life's Still Unfair this show doesn't change anything about what made the show work in the first place. As while this show doesn't make you burst out crying as much as the original show did it does still maintain that heart and that spirit when it would have been very easy for the makers of this show to change everything about what it was made the original show work in the first place and just slap the Scrubs name on it to get some recognition which is something that shows like for example the Punky Brewster revival and the Saved By The Bell revival did as both of those shows feel like totally different shows when compared to there original counterparts. This is something that makes it obvious that the makers of this show were fans of the original show with the show on the whole taking on the feel of it being made for the fans by the fans as it basically is the next episode of the original show something which can to a much more lesser extent be said to Wizards Beyond Waverly Place as well as while that show hasn't fully embraced the original shows fans and given them alot of what they want they did at least take the original shows characters in new and interesting directions which is something that this show did do as well and while the fans myself included won't agree with some of those directions they are still things that do work within the context of the show with even those change of directions feeling true to the spirit of the original show and it's characters with it being something that even before this final episode aired the fans where already begging them to renew this show for more episodes as that's how well done that this show is.

It's not all sunshine and roses for this show tho as the show does get alot of things wrong like for example they not only somehow make the world feel smaller by mainly setting these nine episodes in the hospital but they also set up characters and then do nothing with them. With a good example of this being the Wes character who was set up as a new boyfriend for Elliott and yet he straight up disappears after a few episodes of the show and is never seen or even mentioned again which would have been one thing if they say that Elliott dumped him or if he dumped her but they don't they just stop featuring his character all together which makes his scenes in earlier episodes now feel pointless as we now know that there not going to add up to anything meaningful in this show. Going back to them making the world of the show feel smaller by that I mean when you look at the original show we had a huge range of locations with alot of the episodes featuring those same locations this had the effect of making the world of the show feel more bigger then what it was and yet here all of the apartment scenes that we would have gotten in the original show we now no longer get and the bar that the characters would frequent at the end of an episode now only appears at the end of this last episode this makes the world of the show now feel more compact as we only have the one major location and while yes we do see other locations briefly in other episodes they are exactly that there brief and aren't main locations that we ever visit again in the rest of the show. This is something that very well could have been a budgetary issue which if so fair enough but there still should have been some kind of work around where we did get to see more locations like for example one of the interns apartments would have been nice to see as it could have given any of there characters some more depth to them.

There was one thing that did kind of bug me about the final episode that being the fact that they have a character straight up admit that they love another doctor with this being something that did come out of thin air. As while yes it was hinted at earlier on in the season that was quite a few weeks ago and the show never brought it up again until the very end of this episode when something like this could have made for a very sweet romance between the pair instead they have one of them fall in love with someone else and show them having a fling with there romance being sweet but then at the start of this episode one of the dumped into the dreaded friendzone. With this again coming out of nowhere when something that is this big and important to two characters should have been explored alot more in earlier episodes as you very well could have gotten alot of good comedy and drama out of that part of the show and that is something that the original show would have done and would have done wonderfully and yet for once reason or another they don't do it here. Speaking of relationships one of the things that I think alot of people again myself included was afraid that they were going to do with a certain couple thankfully didn't end up happening in this season of the show which is great as it's something that we saw play out several times in the original show and it got boring by the end of it so much so that even the original show had to call out just how tired and repetitive that that storyline had become and while the show did tease that they would once again go to the well and do this storyline they thankfully don't as that is something that would have been really tiresome to see played out for the countless time.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty two minuets and six seconds. Which to be fair tho this show is pretty much the bogstandard running time of not only this episode but also the show as a whole with this episode having more then enough plot there to cover that amount of running time as all this episode is mostly resolving THAT big cliffhanger ending from the previous episode and that's really it and it therefor didn't really need a long running time but even so this episode as a whole didn't really use it's running time all that wisely due to the fact that it didn't really fully develop it's plot with alot of the episodes running time being stuck to having two beloved characters from the original show show up and while only one of them adds something to the plot of this episode the other one doesn't this is despite the fact that it was fun seeing both characters again and seeing there interactions with the characters being just as a fun as they were in the original show yet those character do eat up alot of screen time which could have been better spent on making this episodes plot be all the fulfilling then what the ending of last weeks episode made it out to be. This is something that does kind of effect the shows characters as well as while it could be argued that none of the shows characters needed character development due to them being in the other episodes of the show alot of the interns still feel underdeveloped as the show really didn't give us the chance to get to know them as characters with this being something that show does need to address if it does get a second season as while it is great seeing the old faces again there's only so long that seeing them will get the fans invested and therefore the makers of this show do need to devote time to fully developing there newer characters inorder to make them just as good as the original shows characters were but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured /presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty really good. This show when it was originally on the air had some very sharp comedy and that is something that it very easily could have lost in the decades since the final episode aired but thankfully that sharpness and that talent for creating funny characters that give you comedy gold is no only back but it's just as good as it was in the original eight seasons of the show as the shows nineth season is one that is just an unfunny mess of a season that the Scrubs fans don't like to talk about and for good reason. With the funniest joke in the entire show being something that happens in the final moments of this last episode and it's something that won't be revealed here in this review as it is something that is really funny and does stay true to who J.D. is as a character but what will be said is that it involves J.D. and a character from his past starting something up again from J.D.s past which is just such a funny idea as J.D. is known for putting his foot in his mouth alot of the time and to see him do it again is something that does make alot of sense as well as it being a really funny scene in it's own right. With that joke being one of many that doo make this show once again feel like the original show as while we don't get Cox calling J.D. a girls name or any funny Dr. Cox rants we do get alot of funny jokes with the newer characters which is something that does make then make for it 

Overall this is a show that should be used as the blueprint on how to do a revival as it captures alot of what made the original show work so well in the first place with it's writing , characters and comedy and yet isn't afraid to try and do new things with those same characters either and while yes there are few things that the show gets wrong heck it could even be argued that the show doesn't quite stick the landing but this is a case where the show gets just as much right as it does wrong in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then  i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very show in this very review and as such that really does mean that the episode earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 while the show on the whole earns itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

My SPOILER FREE First Impressions of Scrubs

Finally after not only years of waiting after the dreadful ninth and final season of the show we can now officially say that Scrubs is back on the air. As the first two episodes of this show which really is being billed as both a revival of the original show and the next season of the original show as well and well you all just knew that I had to check out these two episodes the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FREE first impressions of the show that sees our favorite nurses and doctors return older but none the wiser with the show in question being called simply just "Scrubs" enjoy.

The plots of these first two episodes is in "My Return" J.D. finds himself back at his old hospital when a patient is admitted there and when he's there he gets offered a job that he can't possibly refuse and in "My 2nd First Day" J.D has to learn then in his job he won't be able to please everyone. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episode was in all honesty really good with both episodes having plots that get us used to the new status quo for the rest of the season whilst also introducing new fans to this wacky and crazy show and while the plot of the second episode is a little thin with it also being a carbon copy of the plot from an episode back in season eight it is still a really good plot as while episode one dd have alot of heavy lifting to do as it had to explain to new fans who these characters and then tell the older fans where they are now in there lives and in there careers episode two's plot was allowed to be alot more fun due to the fact that all of the heavy lifting was done in the first episode but in saying this tho "My Return" definitely had the more stronger of the two plots tho something which just wasn't the case with episode two and yet the same time the plot for episode didn't really suffer because of it as it did feel more like classic Scrubs something which is something that could be said for the first episode as well with the plots of both of these episode being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episode was in all honesty really good. With al of these episodes actors turning in some really good performances with all of the returning actors even those that just appear in cameos throughout these two opening episodes slip right back into character almost as if they just got through playing them yesterday with it being painfully obvious that all of the original series actors still have this wonderful chemistry together which is something that was to be expected from both Zach Braff and Donald Faison as they did become best friends after the show started and even have a podcast together and while the acting does somewhat dip when it comes to the shows more newer characters this is to be expected as they are still trying to find there characters with the best actor in both of these episodes being Donald Faison as he gets this really deep and emotional speech in episode one that just pulls of so well with it working because of the fact that we the audience had had years to get to know his character with his performance in both of these episodes being a true masterclass of acting with the acting that's in these episodes really being helped by the fact that the scripts for both of these episodes was just so good that all these episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out f naturally as that's just how good that the acting is in these episodes.

Whilst it would be super easy to talk about the older characters this show is also going to live or die on if the shows newer characters are any good or not. As alot of people will know if they like the older characters due to having spent years with them in the previous seasons and yet we are only just now meeting these new characters ad to eb fair the new characters so far do seem to be pretty good characters and while it will yes of course be to early to tell on if there good characters that people will like it or not as these are only the first two episodes of the show right now things are looking good as they are a pretty entertaining bunch of characters with alot of them even getting the spotlight in the first episode and while of curse people are going to like the older characters alot more then the newer ones it is still nice to see that this show can still give us good and more importantly funny new characters as these new characters to tackle modern day issues in ways that aren't as subtle as they would have been in the original show but are still pretty fun to see get tackled in the first episode and while of course it would have worked out really well if these first two episodes did have more older returning characters in it that is something that would then cause new fans to be put of by the show and therefor these first two episodes do have to strike that balance between giving us comedy gold with the older characters and also giving more dramatic moments with both the old and the new characters as that is the only way that this show would be able to survive as relying on nostalgia and call backs will get you so far before it starts to feel cheap.

Pretty much as was to be expected in the first episode there is alot of nostalgia to be found just un the first episode alone. As we do get alot of call backs to moments from the first episode of the original show and we of course get alot of returning characters as well all of which was fun to see as it reminds us older fans of why we loved Scrubs so much to begin with as it had that old school Scrubs feel to it something which could even be said for the second episode as well and the fact that they filmed this show in Vancouver and yet they made it look like the actual hospital that they used for filming of the original show is something that does help with that as it does make it feel like that this is the next season of the show with everything looking just how you remember it looking back in the early 2000's and yet at the same time these episodes do now that you can't just relay on people's nostalgia as while yes it was great to see more modernized version of the shows iconic intro complete with the original theme song there are also alot of new elements that help to make the show feel new again as outside of all of the new characters alot of which are going to become fan favorites we also get to see different parts of the hospital that we never got to see in the original as the whole show was filmed inside one disused hospital which does mean that we never got to see alot more of the hospitals other rooms yet that's something that we got to see in episode two of this show with us even getting to see some small amount of gore something which would never have been seen in the original show yet because of the fact that this show is also airing on Hulu it means that we can now see it and it's these types of new things that will hopefully keep people coming back for more episodes.

Without giving away to much of what's happened to alot of the returning characters there are some things that just don't work in these first two episodes. With it being reveled in episode one that J.D. and Elliot got divorced which does mean that we're most likely getting there love story told all over again which was something that was played out by the end of the shows eighth season and it's something alot of the older fans might not want to see told to us again in this new season as we've already seen that story several times over in several of the past seasons of the show with it being something that doesn't make sense as we do find out that J.D now has a daughter who could be Elliots kid with another thing that doesn't work being the fact that it does seem like they toned down The Todd when if anything this character should have been kept the exact same way as the whole joke with his character is the fact that everyone in the hospital knows that he's a pig and yet he himself doesn't know that therefor it make no sense for him to become this toned down character but in saying that the only way that you could do this character in this day and age would be this more toned down version as the original version of the character just wouldn't fly with today's audience yet there still should have been some effort to make him still be himself and yet also be a character that the audience of today might not hate as they won't know the main joke with his character they'll just know him from the few appearances that he makes in these two episodes ad that's really it and while yes there is a chance that we get to see more of the old Todd in future episodes it is something that we should have seen in these first two episodes as he is well liked side character.

As with the original show both of the first two episodes of this new season do find a way to balance both comedy and drama really well. With both of the episodes having lots of moments that will make you laugh out loud but then especially in episode one there will be a moment where a character gets to see something that's really dramatic and it works really well as it feels perfectly true to who that character is with the best example of this being Turk as again without giving away to much he does get to say that he's feeling burnt out after spending many years at working at the hospital and not really having anyone there to just laugh with and have fun which was a really sweet moment as it does feel true to who he is as a character as while yes he does get alot of the shows more funny moments he does also have this softer side that very rarely if ever comes out which makes it all the more special and dramatic when it does come out and given the fact that he spent alot of season 9 without his best friend and just working at a teaching hospital it does make sense that he would start to feel burnt out something that it could be argued is made worse by the fact that he only has daughters and no sons which might seem odd to say but Turk is the kind of character who could old really open up when he's around J.D and given that he hasn't seen him for years at least not fully then it does make sense that he would feel burnt out with that being something that alot of people do start to feel at somepoint in their lives and it's not just Turk either as the one of the new interns without knowing it causes a patient to die something which he does blame himself for with it taking all of the new interns to come around and tell him that there was nothing that he could do to help make him feel all right again.

Now then episode one of this show has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty two minuets and twenty seven seconds whilst episode two of this show has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty minuets and forty six seconds. With both of these episodes having some really solid running times to them as those are the running times that you'd expect to find in a classic episode of the show as well with both of these episodes having the right amount of plot there to cover there respective running times and yet in saying this episode episode one doesn't really use it's running time all the wisely as the episode spends alot of time in telling what the characters have been up to rather then giving us a well developed which granted was something that was always going to be an issue with episode two not really having that problem as that episode has more of a well developed plot with this being because of the fact that the first episode did alot of the heavy lifting and therefor episode two would have had more room to develop it's plot and yet both of the episodes don't take the time to fully develop any of the characters which is fair enough for the returning characters as they had all of the previous seasons to get there character development and yet none of the new characters get nothing in the way of character development which you could argue is fair enough as this is the only start of this new season and therefor there of course not going to be getting any character development in these two episodes it still would have been nice if they got something in the way of character development but I really will admit that these two episode really do have some really good pacing to tho them.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. With both of these episodes having jokes that are laugh out loud funny as they all feel true to the episodes characters as well as the spirit of the original show with these new episodes retaining the original shows wit with both of the episodes retaining the original shows wit and style of humor by making great use of dream sequences all of which do really well in these episodes with the best joke in both of the episodes being when J.D and Carla first meet back up with her asking him if Turk knows that he's there something which J.D denies only for the episode to cut to Turk sniffing out that J.D is there which is a funny joke as it is something that either character would do as it's something that does highlight just how much that they love each other as friends with even the new interns getting some really funny moments as well which is something that does make them out to be really funny characters as well with all of the characters across both of the episodes having at least one joke that is laugh out loud which is something that was unexpected and yet it was something that did make both of these episodes be all the more funnier then what they really should have really been with all of the jokes in these episodes really making the show feel alot more classic Scrubs as that's how well that all of these episodes jokes really are in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Overall no matter how bad these new episodes turn out to be they can't be any worse then the whole of season 9 as that season was just an awful season f this show with these new episodes doing a fantastic job of reminding us of just why Scrubs was so good in the first place in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in these very episodes in this very post and as this is only my first impressions of this revival there won't be a rating given but if i'm still watching the show when the final episode airs then I will do a review of the revival as a whole.

Scrubs: My Musical Review

We are now officially about three maybe four days away from Scrubs coming back on the air with new episodes. Which does mean that I wanted to produce a tie in review however with there being so many great episodes of the show that all blended together the shows signature blend of comedy and drama really well I think that i've found the perfect episode as it's one that has some really good jokes , some really good drama and some really good songs in it that are still bein viewed by the millions on Youtube to this day and so then join me as I review the episode that sees the characters make a big song and dance over a patient with the episode in question being called simply just "My Musical" enjoy.

The plot of this episode when a patient is brought to the hospital hearing everyone in her world singing the staff have to find out what's wrong with her. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good as while yes granted this episodes plot isn't the strongest Scrubs plot out there as there are better episodes that have stronger plots to them this is due to the fact the episode had to fit in ten songs in the space of a regular episode of the show and therefor of course the plot is going to come across as being all the more weaker as a result of it and in all fairness this episodes plot really didn't need to be that strong in the first place as it only needed to explain why the characters are now all of sudden singing and dancing and it did that in a way that felt true to the spirit of the show whilst also still very much being a Scrubs episode however it still would have been nice if the episode did take a break from a squeezing in a a song every few minuets and gave some time to it's plot as the plot of this episode is left feeling as more of an afterthought to the episodes songs when they two of them should have been working in tandem together with one supporting the other and yet this is something that doesn't happen due to the fact that the plot of this episode doesn't really get alot of focus with the plot of this episode being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Starring in this episode is Zach Braff as Dr. John 'J.D.' Dorian , Sarah Chalke as Dr. Elliot Reid and Donald Faison as Dr. Christopher Turk. Also starring in this episode is Neil Flynn as The Janitor , Ken Jenkins as Dr. Bob Kelso , John C. McGinley as Dr. Perry Cox , Judy Reyes as Nurse Carla Espinosa , Stephanie D'Abruzzo as Patti Miller , Johnny Kastl as Doug , Sam Lloyd as Ted Buckland , Robert Maschio as Dr. Todd Quinlan , Philip McNiven as Roy , George Miserlis as Crispin , Paul F. Perry as Randall , Aloma Wright as Nurse Roberts and Mike Schwartz as Lloyd.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With this being something that's not really all that surprising as the shows was six seasons into it's mammoth nine season run at this point in time and therefor of course the acting in the episode is going to be top notch as all of the episodes barring the guest actors of course would have had alot of time to really get to know there characters and therefor they would know what kind of performance would best suit there respective character in any given scene with this being something that does come through in this episode as all of the actors truly do act there socks off in this episode with the best actor in this episode being Stephanie D'Abruzzo as Patti Miller as she has to step into this show and right away not only get the tone of the show but also get her character and get where her character is coming from and still sing some really good songs all the while she's got be funny as this is a comedy show afterall and still turn in a good performance and a lesser actor would have buckled under all of that but instead of buckling she thrived with her being the emotional core of the episode and while her performance won't cause people to break into tears like what Brendan Fraser did in his third episode on the show but she does do a really good job of making this character and this situation seem both believable and yet at the same time utterly heartbreaking as well with the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that the script for this episode is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's inn this very episode.

Character wise this episode does treat it's characters really well as all of the series regular characters do feel very in character. With this being something that does make alot of sense as the makers of this episode would of course know these characters inside out and therefor it would be easy for them to have these character be written in character but at the same time tho there seemed to be a focus on getting alot of the characters that we all know and love in the show in this one episode regardless on if it makes sense for them to be there or not as none of the doctors would be hanging around in the hospitals parking area just to great this one patient and neither would they be hanging around the hospitals main entrance due to the fact that they would be bust saving lives and performing operations on people and yet both of these things are things that happen in the episode and it just doesn't make sense both from a storytelling perspective and a character perspective but in saying this tho this episode is meant to be alot more goofy and fun and therefor the episode can get away with having the characters doing these things that they wouldn't normally do as it doesn't play that big of a role in the series overall arc with characters like J.D. and Turk for example not only getting more musical numbers but also more screen time when compared to characters like The Janitor for example who only gets to appear in other people's songs and has exactly zero lines of spoken dialog all throughout the episode this is despite the fact that he is consistently the funniest character in the show and yet in this episode they just have him appear in songs which yes does lead to some funny lines from him but they also feel like a huge disservice to his character.

Speaking of the episodes songs they were all written by Jeff Marx , Robert Lopez , this episodes writer Debra Fordham , Paul Perry and Doug Besterman. With all of the episodes songs being some really good corny songs that you could imagine being songs used in a broadway show with one of the things that helped to make this episodes songs be all the good being the fact that they got the guys who wrote the songs for Avenue Q to help write the songs for this episode which was something that they didn't have to do as the makers of this episode could have just written the songs themselves and called it a day but it's the fact that they went that extra mile which does show you that they put alot more thought and effort into the episodes songs then what was really necessary to do so and yet by doing so they give all of the episodes almost a broadway type of feel to them with songs like "Guy Love" and "When The Truth Comes Out" even being inspired by musicals as whole with "Guy Love" being inspired by huge bombastic love songs like the songs in "Jekyll & Hyde" and "When The Truth Comes Out" being inspired by both "Do You Hear the People Sing?" and "One Day More" both from Les Misérables with it even being hard to say just what the best song in the episode is as the song does have something for everyone as if you want a more dramatic song then there's "Friends Forever/What's Going to Happen" or if you want something that's more tongue in cheek and really lighthearted then there's "The Rant Song" with all of this films songs being oddly really well sung which for alot of this episodes was something that was really unexpected as while alot of us knew that Sam Lloyd was a good singer nobody knew that Zach Braff was a good singer and he kills it in this episode as he is a shockingly good singer.

What was something that was quite shocking to notice was the fact that the episode does commit to the idea of it only being when the characters are around this one patient that they start singing. As whenever this patient is nowhere to be seen there just talking as they normally would do and yet whenever she enters the frame even if it's just for a few seconds they start to sing which is a really subtle detail to include and yet it's one that is quite easy to miss alot of the time due to us the audience being so wrapped in the rest of the episode and yet it's something that does make this episode stand out from other musical themed episodes as while other shows that did musical episodes like Buffy and Xena for example can get away with having there characters singing and dancing for no reason as they could always blame it on the villain of the weak and it would work just as fine Scrubs isn't that kind of a show and therefor they have to do something that no other show would do when there tackling a musical episode that being to work out why the characters are singing in scenes when they would normally be talking and they do that in a great way just by having Patti Miller appear in the scene sometimes as a key person in the scene like she is in "The Rant Song" or sometimes it just as someone that's in the background like in "Gonna Miss You, Carla" yet that is such a commitment to the episode as it shows that the makers of this episode aren't treating there audience like there dumb and are instead treating them like there smart as the audience would pick up on the fact that the character that's meant to be seeing and hearing the characters singing isn't there and while yes there is one scene that does kind of go against that as they do a reprise on "Gonna Miss You, Carla" during the "When The Truth Comes Out" song but even then you could argue that the character was just outside the store room anyway and it would therefor still count.

If there's one thing that this show is known for it's for having these big dramatic moments come out of nowhere. With it being revealed in the ending of act 1 that the reason that Pattie can hear singing in her head is due to the fact that she has a gigantic aneurysm in her temporal lobe something which could cause her to die at any minuet with all of this being revealed during a song that could be considered a cheery song and yet it's that kind of emotional gut punch that the show is famous for with it being something that does work really well with the both the context of the episode and the song that it appears in as "When The Truth Comes Out" is all about certain characters trying to find a way to tell the truth about certain things to other characters with it being in that song where we find out just how serious that Patti's illness is and while yes granted the episode could have been better by having that emotional gut punch be done better as the episode is alot of focused on the characters personal lives then in giving us a truly emotional moment as when this show gives us a truly emotional moment it is something that does work really well as that's when the show truly puts in alot of thought and effort into it's emotional moments and yet here in this episode it felt like that the emotional moment in this episode wasn't given the grandeur that it needed as this is something that should have had the audience in floods of tears and yet it's not something works all that well with that also being because of the fact that the episode doesn't spend much of it's second act focusing on thar plot with it spending more time of the doctors own personal lives.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty three minuets and forty two seconds. Which is pretty much the exact grand total running time for the rest of this show and it's episodes as well with this episode having more then enough plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place and yet this episode doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the episode doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot which is kind of understandable given the number of songs that the episode does gave to fit in and still tell a good plot and while it could be argued that the episodes songs are used to develop the episodes which is something that would be a fair point to make as alot of the episodes plot is advanced through the songs there's nothing in the episodes songs that develop the episodes plot with the same thing also being true for the episodes as while the show is usually really good with giving it's characters character development alot of the time it happens over the course of several episodes which is why the characters aren't given much in the way of character development which is fine for the shows main characters due to the fact that they've had several episodes and seasons to get there character development but for the episodes guest characters it's not a good thing as they really should have gotten some character development heck we don't even find out Patti's first name in the episode with that being mentioned in the episodes credits an yet as the episode is alot more focused on giving us a song every few minuets which is fine for a feature film but not not a show that's just over twenty three minuets they leave us with guest characters that aren't that memorable or well developed for that matter but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to to tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With alot of the episodes comedy coming across in there songs as opposed to the shows more usual way of doing it's comedy as there are no dream sequences in this episode and The Janitor doesn't tell a wacky and funny story both of which are stables of the show and are usually great sources of comedy something would have been perfectly in keeping with the rest of this episodes more wacky and out there tone but it is also something that would have clashed with the episodes songs as well therefor having the more comedic moments happen in the episodes songs is something that does make alot of sense with the best joke in the whole entire episode being the song "Guy Love" as it's two guy best friends singing a love ballad about how much that they love each other which these days wouldn't be seen as being funny but back in 2006 it is something that would be considered a really funny joke and heck it's even a running joke in the show that the two of them act more like a married couple an actually married couples do with the rest of the episodes songs being filled to the brim with other funny moments with the best example of this being "The Rant Song" where Dr. Co goes on one his usual funny rants only now it's in a song done in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan which is a really good idea and it's one that works for this episode with this episode having alot of really funny jokes in it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Overall this episode is just so good and while it's not as good as other more well known episodes of this show are this episode still does a really good job of balancing the episodes humor with these more dramatic moments and here hoping that the new season of the show manages to do the exact same thing as that is how you make Scrubs be as good as it could possibly be in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Scrubs: My Own American Girl Review

 

Ladies and gentlemen i'm always looking for new things to review be it an old movie or an episode of a classic TV show. Well i've once again found something new and fresh to review and it's a favourite TV show of mine since I used to watch this show all the time and so then join me as I review the episode that marked a change in appearance for one key character with the episode of Scrubs being called simply just "My Own American Girl" enjoy.

The plot of the episode is the gang have to work together to find out what is wrong with a patient all the while one of the gang makes a life changing decision. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad with this episodes plot being genuinely really quite freaking entertaining in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Which really shouldn't come as a surprise to absolutely anybody as all of this episodes main cast have been playing these characters for a few years at this point and so then they are of course going to turn in some really good performances in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

For those of you that are wondering this is the episode that sees the character of Dr. Elliot Reid have a compete and total breakdown. This was something that felt oddly in character since at this point this character has been seen pretty much as a doormat due to her more privileged upbringing and so when she gets into the real world she isn't prepared for all the hardships that come with it and that comes to a head in a great sequence in this episode which sets up her character for the rest of the show in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Believe it or not the makeover scene that this episode is famous for was born out of the fact that the network wanted to make actress Sarah Chalke appear to be more attractive so that they could pretty much make her the face of the show. So instead just having the character appear different at the start of the episode with no explanation given creator , writer and director of this episode Bill Lawrence decided to make it apart of her characters journey which really does work out really well in this episodes favour in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

One of the major downsides of this episode is the fact that very few of the side characters get alot of screen time. Which is a shame because it's the side characters that get alot of the episodes biggest laughs and even tho they do appear in the episodes B plot they don't effect that plot line which just makes it feel like a waste of these really funny characters and these really funny actors and actresses in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

This episode really doesn't let three of the main cast of the characters just do their thing which is understandable since they are meant to be growing as both Doctors and Nurses. However it also robs the characters of just being fun which since this is a comedy that should have been the main thing since you always want your episodes and your characters to be fun and entertaining in a comedy TV show in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty minuets and fourteen seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for a TV sitcom such as this one and as such the episode really doesn't feel like it's on to long which is a shame because I was having such a fun time watching these characters that I hadn't seen in years and so I think that it would have helped if this episode was a tad bit longer in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / resented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With this episode being really funny and with alot of this films jokes getting a big laugh out of me and while this film does have some bad jokes in it those are in the majority and are not in the minority in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was such a good episode and it really did feel good to see these characters again since I hadn't seen an episode from this show is years and it was also a really funny episode as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this freaking very review and as such that means that this very episode erns itself a grand old score of exactly a freaking 8.5 out of 10 from me.
