A Game Of Thrones Comics Review

Since Game Of Thrones is due to air it's final season next year (yes you can expect a review of the finale btw) I thought i'd take a look at something that perhaps not alot of people know about and that's the Game Of Thrones comic book series starting with the adaptation of the first book A Game Of Thrones.

Even tho this is an adaptation of the first book's story it's a shockingly faithful adaptation and for those who havn't read the first book or seen the show the plot of that first book and this adaptation is several noble houses fight a civil war over who should be king while an exiled princess tries to find her place in the world and the kingdom is threatened by some rising supernatural threat in the north. Boom. I know that doesn't even scratch the surface but that's the best summery I could find and I do have to say that while I do praise the comic for sticking close to the books storyline I personally would have preferred it if they also added in some scenes.

The art for the book was done by Tommy Patterson who's mostly worked on the Grimm Fairy Tales comic book series and I have to say that I really enjoyed his artwork on this series he really did a good job of making this fantasy tale fit in with the comic book medium but tho I do have to say there are some scenes near the end of the series were Daenerys looks like an anime character which does go against the visual look this book is going for.

The biggest issue I have with this series is that it's only twenty four issues long and that's not enough for a story and world this rich and epic and because of how short the series is alot of key scenes from the book aren't in this series we don't get to see Robert and Ned's banter just after Robert arrives at Winterfell and alot of the stuff with Viserys while present is cut down and that's to name but a few of the scenes that didn't make the cut.

All of the characters from the show are present and correct but tho we now sadly cannot skip the boring chapters which means for the first time in a long time I had to read Jon Snow's scenes and I have to say I was impressed with this book handled him since he is one of the franchises most popular characters I thought they would have made him look like this goody goody good guy who can do know wrong but no they actually present him as a real person who does make mistakes.

What really shocked me was this book took three years to fully publish and I have no idea why that was the story was already there in book form and so where the characters so all they had to do pretty much was just put this series out there but perhaps they were taking there time because of how successful the show was and thus wanted to make sure they got it just right.

The show is famous not only for having great writing , acting and visual effects but for also being very bloody / violent among other things and I have to say apart from one scene with Tyrion that was for some reason cut from this series this book is very freaking violent when you get to the horse heart scene you see some of the veins in the heart.

In all honesty when we got to a certain famous scenes with Ned I really thought they would go all out with the gore but they really subtle with how they did it literally my only issue with that scene is the fact it's in issue 21 and the fact they spoil it on the freaking cover. If I was writing this series I would have had that scene take place in either issue twenty two or twenty three just because there's not much story after we get to that point and I wouldn't have had that scene be on the cover for that issue that's just bad marketing right there.

The book is famous for having pages upon pages of descriptions and characters thoughts well since this is a comic book we don't need to hear how things look as for the inner thoughts of characters they are actually present in the book as little boxes and I thought it was cool that the makers of this book would include that little detail since they didn't really have to that at all.

Overall this was a pretty good series like I said before I wish that it was longer since that would served the story better and as you can tell by the picture they are also adapting A Clash Of Kings which as of this writing is only nine issues in so I give A Game Of Thrones a solid 9 out of 10.

The Boss Baby: Back In Business Review

Well then here we are with another Dreamworks movie turned into a Netflix TV show and I think it's about time that they learned that not every movie deserves it's own series so here is my review of The Boss Baby: Back In Business.

The plot of this show is as simple as it gets The Boss Baby and Tim have to juggle life at babycorp and being a family but there's also a small story about a character called Bootsy Calico who loves cats and wants to get rid of babies. Yeah the story for the show is pretty much the same as the first movie the problem is the first movie did the story better there was no creativity at all when it comes to the story the story goes where you think it will.

The series doesn't star Alec Baldwin but stars someone who doesn't sound like him in JP Karliak heck they even replaced the kid actor with Pierce Gagnon and both actors don't sound like their original actors. Now it's understandable that they couldn't get back Lisa Kudrow and Jimmy Kimmel but they could have at least got some actors who sounded like them instead we have Hope Levy and David W. Collins.

The only actor they did bring back was Eric Bell Jr. as The Triplets and that's it literally every character who's in the movie has a different actor in the series and the only actors i'd say are decent is the voice actor behind The Boss Baby and the new voice actress for Staci and that's really it everyone else puts in little to know effort.

As you'll know the animation was handled by Dreamworks Animation and while I expected there to be a downgrade in animation quality but at least in the movie the animation looked finished here it just doesn't everything just looks unfinished from the character designs to the way the characters move to me it feels like the makers of the show where given a deadline first and were then told to make the show when it should've been the other way round.

The show does also use some 2D flash animation which honestly doesn't look that bad especially when you compare it to the CGI it's just a shame that the whole show wasn't done using this technique if Trolls: the Beat Goes On! can pull it of then why not this series?.

Now I know what you're thinking " This is a kids show it's not meant to for you so don't be hard on it" well it's for that exact reason that i'm being hard on it because in a world where kids have shows like Adventure Time , Steven Universe and Star Vs. The Forces Of The Evil all of which have proven that kids shows can be smart and challenge you this show right here takes all of there hard work and goes "Nope we just want to show you babies doing things and put in little to no effort" say what you will about the Trolls netflix show but at least there's some kind of effort here there's nothing at all.

Now I know i've said alot of bad things about this show but I did find it funny at times and alot of the jokes came from who i consider to be the best character in the show Staci I could honestly watch a whole series based on her if I were to describe her it would be picture Harley Quinn but as a baby that for me would be the most accurate description.

The theme song for the show a terrible rap song who ever thought to have a rap song open each episode should be fired because that is a terrible idea and the person who thought that the rap song they went with was OK should also be fired because it's freaking terrible it's an insult to the ears I cannot wait for that song to be over because of how bad it is.

Overall this is worse then the trailer for the show at least with The Beat Goes On! I was surprised by how good it was this makes the trailer look fantastic avoid this show at all costs don't even show it to kids it gets a 1 out of 10 from me and that's me being fair.
