Batman & Bill Review

Hello there Batfans and comic book fans today i'm here to bring you something a bit different and that's a documentary about a man you might not know about and his name is Bill Finger and here is my review of Batman & Bill.

The story of this film is basically it's about one man's quest to get Bill Finger credit for co-creating Batman. I have to give this movie credit for telling a story which no filmmaker has dared to tell and the film doesn't tell you which side to take on if Bill Finger should get credit or not it gives you all the evidence and then asks you to make up your own mind.

The film mainly focuses on a man called Marc Tyler Nobleman who's a writer but it also features interviews with many celebrity fans including Kevin Smith and Michael Uslan and my impression of them really didn't change i already knew they were huge Batman fans but the one guy who really shocked just because i havn't heard of him was Marc Nobleman to me he is a true Batman so much so he wanted to get Bill Finger credit either Michael or Kevin could have done that if they wanted no disrespect meant to either man but they didn't do it.

Now not only are celebrity fans interviewed but we also get interviews from the creator of Spawn and one of the writers for the Batman 1966 TV series who had co-written an episode with Bill and they each give great insight into this situation and it's clear to me that the only two people who know the truth is Bill and Bob who as we all know are know longer with us.

Now like Doomed! it does paint certain people in a bad light and in this case it's Bob Kane who in this film is treated like a scam artist now i don't know if this is true or not but in this film it says how he never told the heads at DC who did the first drawing as Batman as we know it and who really came up with all the things that we as fans know about the character which includes his backstory now the above picture is part of the first drawing that Bob Kane did for the character so it was Bill who gave him his now iconic costume and his backstory and pretty much everything else.

In order to break up the interviews the film includes some animation which i have to admit were really nice to see there done in this comic book style kind of what they would have done in the 30's and 40's and i'm not sure if this is just me or not but they kind of reminded me motion comics which i thought was really fun and cool.

This movie actually told me things that i didn't know about Bill as we all know as Batman became more popular then Bob became more richer but what we didn't know was as that was happening Bill was becoming more and more poorer and to some extent more and more ill and when Bob died it was all over the place where as when Bill died not only did he die alone nobody knew he died for hours and when he was buried in a potter's field and that's just wrong in my eyes.

In the movies final twenty minuets we get to see Bills granddaughter and we get to see her quest as she then goes to DC Comics and trys to convince them to give Bill credit and while at first they only give her what they call "thank you"checks over time that relationship disappears and then she trys even harder to get them to give her grandfather credit.

Overall this is a must watch for any Batman and even any comic book fans out there and for the first time ever i will not rate this film as i think you should judge it for yourself.
