Watchmen: Chapter I Film Review

For some strange reason Hollywood has been rather in love with the Watchmen story recently as just a few short years ago we had the TV show and now were getting a two part animated film. Whilst the idea of adapting these characters into animation was going to happen eventually it does seem odd that after just realising a three part film that DC has started to release a two part and so then join me as I review the film that see the Watchmen story enter the world of animation with the film in question being called simply just "Watchmen: Chapter I" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when his fellow hero The Comedian is killed anti-hero Rorschach sets out to find who is killing all of the worlds superheros. Now the  interms then interms f what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that;s actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as the plot was the exact same plot from both the comics and the 2009 film but that's also the problem and whilst it's not a problem with the film as they did only make one book called Watchmen it is something that does make the plot of the film come across as being predictable as we the audience have already seen it adapted in the 2009 live action film which does make this film come across as being really pointless as all your doing is waiting for all of the familiar plot beats to hot and that's really it and while yes the plot of this film is told in a way that's really more true to the comic book that doesn't stop it from feeling predictable and boring with the plot of this film not really being really rather entertaining nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Matthew Rhys as Nite Owl , Katee Sackhoff as Silk Spectre and Titus Welliver as Rorschach. Also starring in this film is Troy Baker as Ozymandias , Michael Cerveris as Dr. Manhattan , Rick D. Wasserman as The Comedian , Adrienne Barbeau as Sally Jupiter / Silk Spectre , Corey Burton as Captain Metropolis , Jeffrey Combs as Moloch , John Marshall Jones as Hooded Justice , Yuri Lowenthal as Wally Weaver , Geoff Pierson as Nite Owl and Kari Wahlgren as Janey Slater.

Now then interms of what I personally thought  felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which given the actors that are involved with this film does make alot of sense as alot of this films both from a voice acting perspective and a live action perspective really are a bunch of really good actors and all of whom really do know how to act and as a result of that is the fact that they really would know how to turn in a really good performance in a film like this one as this is the kind of film that really does require alot of if not all of the films to bring there A game which is something that we do get to see in this very film with the acting that's in this very film really being helped by the films script as the script for this film is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the really greats that are currently over at Studio Mir. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as while yes the CGI in this film isn't the best with these characters being more suited to the kind of 2D animation that we got in Batman: The Animated Series this films animation wasn't as bad as it really good have been either and while it does rather admittedly take alot of getting used to when you do get used to it it's not something that you really notice and something that you do forget is even there alot of time but yes these characters really aren't well suited to 3D CGI as they look a little to good where as these characters should look a little rough round the edges as that's the type of the world that these characters live in and to have an animation style that goes against it just makes the animation in this film stand out but for all pf the wrong reasons tho.

For some strange reason DC really likes to make multipart films as this is now the third multipart film that they've released. With both this film and the Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths films being the only ones that really do deserve to be a multipart film as the Justice League X RWBY film really didn't need to be a two part film as that film only had enough plot for one film where as this film really does need both parts in order to tell it's story as if you did try and condense this films story to just the one film it would really harm the overall story as it would mean alot of the stuff that's important to the plot would have to be cut out of the film as the film only has a small amount of running time in order to tell it's story and as a result of that is the fact that this film really is one of the very few films that should be a two part film as there's so much in there from a plot perspective that to cut any of it out would be a disservice the story and with a story that's as legendary as the story of Watchmen is then the makers of this film really do owe it to the fans to it justice in someway and the best that they can do that is to make this film a two part film but that doesn't mean that every single direct to DVD animated film that DC makes should be a multipart film as tha6 is something that should be saved for the films where the plot demands it be a multipart film.

As this is a multipart film that does mean that this film does indeed fall into the same pitfalls that all multipart films fall victim to. As alot of this film is spent setting up things that won;t be payed off until Chapter 2 comes out next year which does make this film feel like it's a long trailer for part 2 and while yes this is also due to the fact that the comic book only told one story as this is an adaptation the makers of the film could have altered things around in the plot to make sure that this film didn't feel like a trailer for the next film as this is a big issue is it means that we the audience don't really have a reason to rewatch this film as we'd only be watching half of a story and while the makers of this film really couldn't help but make this film one long trailer for the second film there could have been some effort to make sure that at least some of things that get set up in this very film also get payed off in this film heck you even could have had the reveal of who killed The Comedian happen in this film only to then end the film with the reveal that the death of all of these heroes was just one small part of a bigger plan thus setting up the mystery for the second film and ending this film on a really good cliffhanger that would make the audience want to watch the second film as well.

If you've seen the 2009 film or even read the comics then you'll know that The Comedian and alot of the heroes. Aren't really good people as alot of them do kill innocent people for there own perverse sense of justice which does drive alot of them The Comedian included insane and as a result of that is the fact that the mystery of the films is a really good one as it means that we have alot of potential people who could want to see The Comedian dead and while the The Comedian might be the worse hero as a person this film does a solid job of also showing of his more softer side all of which do make him seem all the more human and come across as being more of a three dimensional character which does make sense as he is the films main character in a way but at the same time the film really doesn't give us a reason to care for Rorschach either as he just comes across as being a loner who is willing to go to those more darker aspects and kill innocent people and yet even tho he is the films main vocal point we're not given a reason to like him as a character which does make it hard for us the audience to form any kind of connection with him as well.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty three minuets and forty nine seconds. Which is a solid running time for this film as the film really does have the right amount of plot to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time tho this film could have done with being a few minuets shorter as the film does seem to drag on a bit in the middle with the film having scenes that really don't add anything to the plot of both films and are there just for the sake of being there and because of that the film does have some filler scenes when because of the multipart nature of the film it really doesn't need to be a multipart film as you could have every single scene be about advancing the overall plot of both films and no filler would be needed as this is a two part film and as such the only thing that the makers of this film would really need to do is pick a part where your going to end Part 1 and that's really it and where this film does make alot of sense from a plot point of view but we have to see alot of pointless scenes to get there but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that;s actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that;s actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that and. As this film really doesn't focus all that much on the action aspect of the film which does make sense as it this point in the plot there's not much action in it anyways and as such both of the action scenes that we get in this film really do look good and are a good example of how good this films 3D CGI animation could possibly when it's done right with the best example of this being the death of The Comedian as while yes his death scene was handled alot better in the 2009 film here his death takes full advantage of the fact that's an animated film and because of that is the fact that we get to see the characters doing things and moves that they couldn't possibly do in live action action and because of that is the fact that we a really good opening fight scene that really does set the overall tone for the rest of both of these films as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this is a solid that alot of people might like it's still just you stereotypical first part of a multipart film with it being worth staying until after the credits to see a nice little surprise and while that surprise adds nothing to this film it is still a fun little surprise in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all pf the mages that I personally used in this very review well then bots and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally got all of the mages that I personally used in this very review fro the official DC Database fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very film that I used in this very review being the really great Google Images simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not really all of the images that are all really from this very film and are really of course on Google Images are also really all fairly high in quality and really as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.
