X-Men '97 "Days Of Past Future" . "A Force To Be Reckoned With" AND "Rise Of Apocalypse Part 1" SPOILER FILLED Review

Finally after waiting since 2024 for new episode the new season of X-Men '97 has finally begun with the first three episodes having dropped at the same time. This is an odd way to release these first three episodes as the third one is quite literally part one of a two part story and well as I was a huge fan of this show when the first season was being released you all just knew that I had to check out these episodes the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the episodes that see the X-Men scattered across time itself with the episodes in question being called simply just "Days Of Past Future" . "A Force To Be Reckoned With" and "Rise Of Apocalypse Part 1" enjoy.

The plot of these episodes in Days Of Past Future Scott , Jean , Storm and whole host of X-Men find themselves trapped in the future where they have to defeat Apocalypse in order to try and get home to there own time whilst in A Force To Be Reckoned With Cable , Sunspot , Jubilee Psylocke and more discover innocent mutants are bein taken prisoner and in Rise Of Apocalypse Part 1 in Egypt the rest of the X-Men and Magneto form an alliance with En Sabah Nur. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. With A Force To Be Reckoned With perhaps having the best plot of these episodes just due to the fact that it does have a rather interesting idea that being what does the world look like with the X-Men in it and seeing how people to do react to that is something that does make that episode alot more interesting to watch. However on the flip side of that tho is the fact that the other two episodes do have some really good plots of there own and while Rise Of Apocalypse does get slightly easier as it is the first part of a two part episode there it isn't fair to fully judge that episode it does still tell a really good story and the approach to the storytelling across all three episodes is a rather fun way to link all three episodes together and heck it could even be argued that these first three maybe four episodes are telling one big story with the plot of these episodes also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. Much like with the first season the acting in these three episodes is so good with this something that does make alot of sense as alot of this episodes actors are reprising their roles from the original show and even those that aren't are still coming back from the first season with all of the episodes returning actors having a good grip on there characters where the acting does somewhat faulter is with the acting coming from the actors that are just joining this show as alot of them do feel like that there trying to hard to hold there own with the series established actors with that being something that does oddly enough hold them back. With the best actor in these episodes being Holly Chou as Jubilation Lee / Jubilee as even tho she only appears in episode two she does leave a lasting impact with it being clear as day that she really has grown into the character and while no one will ever be able to top what Alyson Court did with the character in the original show Holly is doing a good enough job of being the voice of this character for this new generation with her putting enough of a spin on the character that it doesn't feel like that she's ripping of what Alyson Court did back in the nineties with her giving the character an infectious but almost real energy to the character with this being some thing that really does shine through in her performance. With the acting that's in these episodes really being helped by the fact that the scripts for these episodes are just so good that all these episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in these very episodes.

Doing the animation for these episodes is Red Dog Culture House , Jam Filled Entertainment , Tiger Animation and Studio Mir. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. This again much like with the episodes acting isn't all that new as the first season did have some really good and high quality animation in it that at times was feature film worthy and going off of these three episodes that is a trend that does seem to have continued. As while yes the animation in Rise Of Apocalypse Part 1 isn't as good the animation in the other two episodes compared to something on say for example Netflix or Nickelodeon it is still really good animation with the only thing that does let the animation down in that episode being the fact that the backgrounds aren't as good as they are in the other episodes as in episodes 1 and 2 you do get these really stunning backgrounds that help to make the world of the show feel all the more real where as in Rise Of Apocalypse due to the fact that that episode takes place in Egypt there's only so much that the makers of this episode can do to give to us stunning backgrounds and while they do do the best that they can do it just wasn't good enough. However tho all three episodes have animation that really does come alive during the episodes respective action scenes with the animation helping to make the action in all three episodes all the more exciting and fun to watch with this being especially true for the action in A Force To Be Reckoned With and heck it does feel like that the makers of this show had alot of fun with the action and the animation in that episode as it looks nothing like the animation in the rest of the episode.

There is a reason why Days Of Past Future hasn't really been talked about all that much in this review and that's due to the fact that not alot really happens in that episode that is worth talking about in the first place. Just to be clear its not a bad episode by any means as it does do a serviceable enough job in setting up Forge and Bishops quest to get the X-Men back to the nineties as well as showing us what life if like for a large group of the X-Men in the future but outside of that and maybe one scene with Young Nathan and his parents there's not really alot to that episode it is still a fun action packed episode that does feel in line with this show it's just one that could have been done alot more better and been alot more better. With the true standout episode for me being episode 2 A Force To Be Reckoned With as we do see Cable form X-Force and take the government approved group X Factor with this version of X-Force being better then the one in Deadpool 2 due to the fact that they actually made it to the end of there mission in this episode and heck that episode even went the extra mile by having an X-Force exclusive show intro which was a lot of fun to see and is somethin that does feel like we are going to be getting in alot of the other episodes as well as both episode 1 and 3 had intros that just showed off who was going to be in the episode, this version of X-Force does seem to be a really violent group which is kind of the point as they have all lost someone important to them as Cable does believe his parents to have died at the end of season one and Sunspot and Jubilee have of course lost there found family with the X-Men there of course this group would be more violent and the fact that they have characters like Psylocke and Archangel along with a former slave of Apocalypse, it does make sense that they would be more violent and heck that does create a nice contrast with X Factor who are doing things the government approved way with Jubilee pointing out that she knows what Cable is fighting for despite his more violent nature but she can't tell what X Factor is fighting for as they are the ones rounding up innocent mutants.

It's weird that Disney chose to have the first part of a two part episode be released with the first three episodes of this new season. As while the episode does in a way that does make you want to see more as the episode ends with Bishop finding the other X-Men and and knowing who En Sabah Nur does become in the future takes him out as well which does go against the pact that the X-Men in that time had made with him in exchange for him helping them get back to there own time there was still no reason for them to release this episode along with the other two episodes as while its not a bad way to release the episode it also makes no sense as the other two are telling complete stories where as here it is literally a set up for next weeks episode. Surely then it would have made sense to either have released the first four episodes and and have Part 2 be released along with Part 1 rather then just releasing that opening part which isn't a bad episode but it not does make it fully hard to judge that episode as none of us have seen how the story ends for this two part episode, however tho this is something that could also be seen as being a genius move as now alot of us are going to be talking the episode all week with alot of counting the days until the episode does get released which in turn would drive up numbers for Disney+ something which wouldn't be possible if the episode was released with the other three episodes and to this end you do have to give Marvel credit for sticking to releasing one episode a week after this weeks drop ss that is a good way to get more and more people coming back to Disney+ to see how the rest of the season plays out and while you can make an argument that releasing one episode a week is old fashioned its also something that does work. The only real downside being the fact that it does mean Disney releasing this episode when they have no intention of releasing part 2 until next week when they could have just dropped episodes 1 and 2 and it would have worked just fine.  

Whilst Days Of Past Future is pretty much a nothing episode there is still some good to be found in the episode itself. Like for example we get to see Forge and Storm reunite as well as Nathan pretty much discover that he himself has powers much like his mother does and we do get to see some pretty good scenes with Wolverine but again for alot of this episode nothing really happens with it only being when the episode nears it's end that they decide to go into the city to destroy the future version of Apocalypse with it being there where the episode does start to get good with Nathan and his parents having a pretty sweet heart t heart as both Scott and Jean know that once they are done in the future they have to go back to there present and thus never see there son again until he grows up and goes back in time to see them which is a pretty heartbreaking scene to see. Due to the fact that no parent wants to spend along time without getting to see their child and yet that's the very thing that these people are being forced to do and yet they do it not because of the fact that its the easy thing to do rather they do it because of the fact that it is the right thing to do as they know that leaving Nathan in the future is the right thing for him due to the fact that that is where he is most safe and while Nathan won't understand that when he is just a boy it is something that he will come to understand later on in life as Cable, this scene is really the only reason to watch this episode as while its not a bad episode as it does serve as a good way to reintroduce the characters it kind of feels like a James Bind pre-titles scene in that it's only there to get you excited for what's to come and nothing more then that and in this regard that episode does succeed in doing just that but at the same time tho given the fact that this season is only nine episodes long this episode could have been just as good if not better then what the other two episodes are as the others are the more interesting episodes and this one whilst it is still a good episode is just kind of there and that's really it.

Now then episode one of this show has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly thirty minuets and forty two second whilst episode two is twenty six minuets and fifty eight seconds and episode three is twenty six minuets and forty two seconds. These are all pretty much the bogstandard running times for this show as this show very rarely goes o for that long and to be fair given the fact that episode three is the first part of a two part episode it really does need to that amount of time in order to tell it's story in a way that doesn't do harm to it but is rather in service of it and heck this is something that is also true for the other three episodes as well with them all having the right amount of plot there to cover there respective running times. With all three episodes using there running times as wisely as they could have done as they all do take the time to add things to there plots that do make there plots feel alot more developed and while we will of curs have to wait until next week to see if Rise Of Apocalypse was a story that was worth telling in two parts just based off of this episode that does seem to be a yes as they do cram in alot of plot in this first part and yet none of it feels wasted and none of it feels like its there just for filler as alot of it does feel like it's inservice of the two part plot of getting the X-Men back home and alot of it does feel like it's service of the season long plot whatever that ends up being with being clear as day that the makers of this show did put alot of thought and effort into all three episodes plots. This also something that's true for the episodes characters development as while of course the characters don't really need to get any kind of character development in these episodes we do see Magneto act more like a hero using the things that he learnt at the end of the previous season and putting it to good use and that is something that he just would have not have dine even in the previous season and yet it is something that he does here with him being more of a confidant to En Sabah Nur with it being made clear as day that the makers of this show did put alot of thought into giving the characters that needed character development character development but I really will admit that all of these episodes have some really good pacing to them tho.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. With all three episodes having at the very least one action scene in them with the action feeling right at home with classic Saturday mornings kids cartoons as they do have that very campy and over the top feel to them and it's something that does oddly work for all of the action scenes across all three episodes. With the best action scene in all three episodes being the scene where Jubilee escapes the you could say prison that X Factor are holding her in as she does go about from cell to cell using her powers to break out all of the other mutants not only on rollerblades but also while beating up several guards this is something that does prove that when her done right her character can be a bada*s as we get to see her using her powers to blind the guards before then coming in with either a kick . flip or a punch to knock them out with her just causing havoc all other the place and its something that does look so good in the episode with the action in that episode really being helped by the fact that the animation makes it come alive as up until that point whilst the animation had still been really good you could tell that they were cutting corners a bit with the budget and when this action scene comes up you see why as this is where action gets to truly shine with all of the kicks and punches looking like that they hurt with the rest of the episodes action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if you haven't done already go and check out these episodes as while Days Of Future Past isn't the best episode of this show it is still a really good episode in it's own right with all three episodes being episodes that people who loved the first season of this show are going to love in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now the i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in these episodes in this very review  and as such that really does mean that episode 1 earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.0 out 10 , episode 2 earns itself a 8 out of 10 and episode 3 earns itself a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

X-Men '97 "Tolerance Is Extinction" Review

In a few short days time the second season of the second greatest X-Men animated series behind of course X-Men: The Animated Series returns for more new episodes. It is safe to say that X-Men '97 was everything that a good revival should be as it respected what came before it but then it pushed things in directions that we never expected it to and as I was not only a huge fans of the original animated series growing up as a kid but I also watched every single episode of this revival when it was first airing you all just knew that I had to produce a tie in review for this second season and well what better tie in the first season finale and so then join me as I review the episodes that see the X-Men get pushed beyond there breaking points with the episodes in question being called simply just "Tolerance Is Extinction" enjoy.

The plot of these episodes is Bastion launches his plan to take over the world by turning humans into living breathing Sentinels forcing the X-Men to fight like they have never thought before but something far more sinister lurks beneath the surface which will change the team as we know them. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. To put it frankly the plot of these episodes isn't just TV good it's movie quality good as you can very easily see the plot for these episodes being the plot of an X-Men movie. As the plot does give you all of the drama and it raises all of the stakes to not only get you hooked into what's going on but it also keeps you wondering just what is going to happen next and while yes the plot could have been alot more stronger in some places as some characters arcs don't really get resolved but at the same time tho this is a plot that does give you everything that you want to see with it feeling more in line with the classic X-Men show then what they were doing in the movies at the time, yet at the same time tho there are things in the third part of this part finale that do feel undercooked like the stuff with Magneto and Charles which does go nowhere in the grand scheme of things and yet even that is still some really interesting stuff, plot wise this is pretty much the perfect X-Men finale plot as it does give you all of the cool stuff with the characters whilst also giving you a plot that you could see working really well in an X-Men movie with the plot of these episodes also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. The fact that we have alot of really good acting in all three of these episodes is something that's not really all that surprising as alot of the actors that re in these episodes are either A a bunch of really good actors in there own right or B are reprising their roles from the original show either way it does make sense that the acting in all three of these episodes would be top notch and heck the same could even be said for the acting in the whole first season of the show as a whole. With the best actor in all of these episodes being Lenore Zann as Anna-Marie Raven / Rogue as she does give us a Rogue that is very much filled with rage and hate and yet the same time you can tell that there is a sadness in her eyes with her knowing full well that what she's doing isn't who she is as a person and is only acting this way as she has lost the love of her life with this being somethin Lenore does just by using her voice and it something that does get across just what this character s thinking and feeling at any given moment in these episodes and it is something that really does shine through in her final performance. With the acting that's in these episode really being helped by the fact that the scripts for these episodes is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in these very episodes.

Doing the animation for these episodes is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Studio Mir. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. These episodes animation was alot more better then what it really had any right to be as while yes the animation in the rest of the show was drop gorgeous at times there was no guarantee that that would be the case in these final three episodes as the makers of these episodes could have dropped the ball animation wise. Thankfully they did not as these episodes do maintain the series already high bar when it comes to its animation by giving us lots of really nice looking background and creative scenes that could only work in the realm of animation, this is something that the original series did as well and it was fun to see that trend continue in these three episodes and heck the characters do get some really fluid movements to them which is something that does make them feel alot more alive but the issue when it comes to the animation being the fact that there are some shots that do look a little weird when the characters are standing still and the episodes action doesn't get as fluid animation as the rest of the episodes get and while these are indeed small things that don't really harm the episodes on the whole they are also things that could have been fixed before the episodes got released as they are things that the people watching these episodes will notice.  

The one common theme threw all three of these episodes is the idea of dreams and how they can be used to either do some good or turn into something that we are not. Like for example with Rogue as she has just lost Gambit the love of her life and therefor her faith in Xaviers dream of a world where Mutants and humans can liv side by side is shaken because of the fact that she doesn't want to loose another friend or loved one with this temporarily turning her into a villain with the same thing being true for Sunspot as after his mother turned him in just for being a mutant he doesn't know who or what to believe anymore so again he sides with Magneto much like Rogue herself does this is something that does make the two characters the very thing that they both not as they not bad people and yet because of the fact that they've both had there faith shaken in different they are forced to become these new people even if its for a little while. The same thing is true for the villains as well as we see Bastion get his dream tested when the X-Men tell him that his beloved mother lied to him and that Charles had come to visit him but that she turned him away whilst this doesn't force him to change his dream it does cause him to somewhat faulter in his dream and the same thing is true for Magneto as he has spent so long being evil that he forgot that he and Charles shared the sake goal only Magneto somewhere along the way did have his ream more warped into what it was during the original series run with it only being when Charles confronts him inside his own mind that he does remember what his original dream was and while it will of course be hard to say if the character is changed for good just based off of what we see in the final moments of the third part of this episode it does seem like Magneto has become more of an anti-hero, these episodes do a good job of showing us just what the power of having a dream can have on us as it can make us into great people or it can drown us and become warped because f the things that we go through in life.

Shockingly this episodes does also include alot of silent cameos from other nineties Marvel animated heroes. As we get both Spider-Man and Peter Parker not only taking part in helping New York City but also finally being reunited with Mary Jane but we also get Doctor Strange , Daredevil and Iron Man all of which were really fun to see as these characters do all live in the same city and therefor they would of course all be willing to help out should a threat come that's two big for any of them to handle and with alot of them having already crossed over with each other before now it does make sense that they would reappear in this episode. With the only downside to this being the fact that alot of them are just relegated to being silent cameos with the only two that get speaking lines being Captain America and T'Chaka who may or may not be Black Panther in this universe as it would have been really cool to hear Spider-Man having a chat with Mary Jane or it would have been awsome to see Daredevil and Spider-Man helping each other out bottom line being here is that there was alot of really cool things that the makers of these episodes could have dine with these characters and while fair enough it might have been seen as being over kill to have all of these heroes play even a small role in these episodes given the fact that the fanbase for this show does skew alot more older then the typical Marvel animated show does it would have been fun to see these characters that we knew as kids talk once again and while it was still great that we got to see them at all does feel like a let down and fair enough this is an X-Men show and therefor you want the focus to be on them but if your going to go out of your way to include several scenes with them then at least have them do or say something that does feel true to there character as there s no way that Tony Stark would just be standing in a room whilst all of this is going down.

Bastion is such a cool idea for a villain with him being someone who like DCs Cyborg can hear machines only he takes it in a more villainous route by using them to build Sentinels that are merged with human beings. Thus making it hard to tell who is a robot and who isn't with this being something that all three of these episodes handle really well as we see that characters that we thought were allies to the X-Men were actually robots this whole time with the only thing that could have made this all the more better being if some of those allies had helped them out in previous episodes and had gotten close to various members of the team as this is something that would make that big reveal at the end of part one be all the more shocking. To be fair to these episodes they do take it about as far as they possibly could have done with humans being robots as they are mainly used as a distraction for our heroes and to give Bastion his own robot army with this being something that does show us the audience that he really does think about two or three steps ahead of everyone else with it only being when the X-Men start to do the same thing that they actually start to gain an advantage over him and this is something that a good villain should do as a good villain should always force the hero to be better and to think outside of the box, heck we even get to find out why Bastion is evil as we find out that he's been hearing machines since he was a kid with being something that does slowly drive him crazy to the point where he thinks that the only way to get rid of the talking in his head is to destroy the X-Men and is to turn humans into robots that could kills them with him even having seen a future where he did succeed and was actually happy and heck he even turned his own mother into a Sentinel as that's how far of the deep end he had gone.

Now then these episodes has / had an exact grand total running time of really no longer then forty minuets. With episode one being thirty one minuets and twenty six seconds , episode two being twenty minuets ad twenty one seconds and episodes three being forty minuets and three seconds, with all three episodes really earning there running time as they are all telling this one epic story and the fact that the final episode of the first season is the longest episode of all of the episodes does tell you just how epic that this three parter is as that one episode does have alot of plot to cover and to do son in shorter amount of time would do a huge disservice to the plot of the episodes as a whole with these episodes really having enough plot there to really cover that large amount of running time in the first place. With the episodes really using there running times wisely as they do take alot of time to fully develop the episodes plot with them adding in things that do effect in a major way be it from Magneto being let go from where he was hidden by Bastion to the leaders of the human race deciding to bomb the asteroid that the X-Men are on in the hopes that it won't fall down and wipe out the earth these are all things that the makers of this episode really didn't have to include but the fact that they did does show us that they knew that they had to give us a satisfactory ending and that does mean giving us a well thought out and developed plot. The same thing is also kind of true for the episodes character development as while we do see what it is that might turn Magneto into more of an anti hero in this next season as it is him that not only saves Charles but also the world and the other X-Men we don't really see what it is that causes Rogue to go back to being a good guy which whilst this is a small thing given the fact that we saw the thought process of her deciding to essentially become a bad guy even if it was for a few minuets it still would have been nice if we got to understand why she flipped back to being a good guy but I really will admit that these episodes really does have some really good pacing to them tho. 

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / resented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. With all three episodes having some really fun action in them all of which d take as full advantage of the fact that there are being animated as they possibly could have done and while we don't get to see alot of the team fighting together in alot of this three parter whenever we do that's when we get some of the more really cool stuff happening as it will always be cool seeing all of the X-Men fighting together and using there powers together. With the best action scene being in part three as we get to see alot of the X-Men that are still alive on the Asteroid not only trying to hold of Bastion but also trying to stop the Asteroid from falling to earth with them only just being able to defeat Bastion when they put on a collar that cancels out his powers but then the mutants have another problem as the humans bomb the Asteroid which does start to make it fall to earth all the while inside his a mind an unconscious Charles has to get Magneto to remember who he is so that they can escape his mind and which is something that they only just barely manage to do, this one episode is basically one long action scene with there being very few breaks inbetween the action think of it as the Mad Max: Fury Road but of TV animation and you'll get the idea and yet it does oddly work because of it with the rest of the episodes action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if this three parter is anything go by then the next season does have an awful lot to live up to as my god were all three episodes of this show just so good that is really saying something when you take into account that the rest of the show really is just so good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in these episodes in this very review and as such that really does mean that these episodes really do earn themselves a grand total combine score of exactly a 10 out of 10 from me.

X-Men '97 "To Me My X-Men" Review

When people think of great X-Men shows and great superhero animated shows in general they usually think of X-Men: The Animated Series. Yet what alot of people seem to have forgotten is that show actually got a sequel show with the first episode of the show being one that i'm going to be talking to you al about today and so then join me as I review the episode that re-introduced the classic X-Men to new generation of the fans with the episode in question being called simply just "To Me My X-Men" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when newly upgraded sentinels start attacking the X-Men have to find out who is giving them these upgrades and why. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with the plot of this episode being very close in terms of tone to the typical plot of X-Men: The Animated Series with it being clear as day that the makers of this episode had a clear love and passion for the original show as all of the things that this episode does from a plot point of view makes sense not only for the characters but also interms of the characters as well with the only real negative about this episode is the fact that this episodes plot and the plot of the original series are striking similar to one another even down to the fact that they take on the exact same foe which is something that does make this episode feel pointless to watch as you watch the first episode of the original show and still get the same experience from it as there's really nothing in this episodes plot that makes it stand out from the plot of the first episode of the original show outside of the cliff hanger ending for this episode but that's really it with the episodes plot on the whole being a really good plot and is one that does feel more in line with X-Men: The Animated Series then anything from any of the more modern Marvel animated TV shows with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With this being something that does make alot of sense as alot of this episodes actor are reprising their roles from the original show and much like how Kevin Conroy is THE voice of Batman to many alot of the original series actors that returned for this show are THE voices of these characters and therefor it will always be great to hear them saying new line as these truly iconic character and the actors that thy got to replace certain actors like Holly Chou do a good job of getting close to the original voice as is humanly possible without just outright copying what the original actor did with the character in the first place and while yes there are alot of really good performance to be found in this episode there are also some really bad ones as well like the fact that we have Ross Marquand as Charles Xavier in this show and he just doesn't live up to wat the original actor did with the role this is despite the fact that Ross Marquand himself is a really good actor he's proven that time and time again but he needs to be given the right role and Charles Xavier just isn't the perfect fit for hm as an actor with the acting that's in this episode also really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the really greats that are currently over at Studio Mir. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with this episode and the rest of the show having what can best be described as being an anime look to it which is something that does make sense given just who is animating the episode with the episodes animation also looking really stunning withy it having a look that is both modern and sleek and yet also old and more in line with the look of the classic show as well with this being something that really does work really well for this episode as this is an episode that has the toughest job to do by having to convince the old fans to come back and watch the episode whilst also trying to win over new fans and by giving it this look that whilst it does look like the old show but only more modernized does make alot of sense with alot of the characters not only having these really fluid movements to them but also getting alot of really cool shots that do nothing more then show of the episodes animation with even the backgrounds in this episode looking really good and really well detailed so much so that it does feel like at times that you can just reach out and grab any of the backgrounds in this episode with the episodes animation looking like a work of art in all of the best senses.

To help with recapturing the fans of the original shows the makers of this show did the best thing possible and that's reuse the original shows theme song. Which yes granted might be seen as being a small thing but in saying that tho alot of the old fans myself included really do love that old theme song and any on screen continuation of that show needed to have that theme song playing to make it genuinely feel like this is the next episode and it's something like that that does make this show feel like it was made for fans of the original animated series by fans of the original animated series and alot of that does come down to the fact that the writer of this episode Beau DeMayo as truly an awful person as he may be does seem like a genuine fan of the X-Men and it's that love and that passion for not only the original show but it's characters as well that does shine through in this episode as all of the characters are no only acting in character but also feel in character as well and the fact that they managed to get the original theme song for this show does say that the makers of this show are truly fans of the original show as that is something that only fans would want and while yes granted the version used in this episode is a remixed version of the original theme song it's still that original theme that we all know and love with this shows version of the classic theme song being more then enough to get us hyped up for the episode ahead something which wouldn't have been possible if they used a different theme song as those of us that grew up with the original show really wouldn't know that this was meant to be a continuation of the original show without hearing that classic theme song playing at the start of the episode.

While there are alot of positives to be fond not only in this show as a whole but in this episode as well sadly tho this episodes does have a few not so bright spots in it as well. Chief amongst which is the fact that Sunspot in this episode really isn't given much in the way of a personality other then being this shows version of Jubilee and that's really it with the character just being bland and forgettable with the other really negative thing being the fact that they have Charles Xavier killed OFF screen which yes granted might seem like a minor nitpick but given the fact hat both this show and the original show use alot of drama in all of their stories this is something that really should have been shown to us on screen as he is a main character and it would be a great way to not only get old fans hooked but also shock the new fans as well as then it would mean that any character could get killed off and while yes they do explain a way his death in later episodes of this show for alot of these early episodes he is meant to be dead and so it would have been nice for that drama factor to see Charles's death from the point of view of the X-Men only to then show us what actually happened in later episodes of the show as then we'd get to not only see but also experience these characters that alot of us grew up watching watch someone who they were all close to now suddenly no longer be there for them instead of just having it told to us how they all felt which is something that we got in this episode and while that is something that does kind of work for this episode it would have worked all the more if we got to see Charles's death on screen.

Let's just take a second to talk about Magneto as it really doesn't make any sense for Charles to leave him anything let alone everything in his will. As the two of them spend the best part of the entire original series being arch enemies who only teamed up very rarely and while yes they were friends in the past since they have die so much to each other after the fact it really doesn't make any kind of sense for Magneto to get anything in Charles's will with it making sense that the X-Men would choose not to trust him as they really haven't a reason to trust the man who has tried to kill them on several occasions in the past and while this does play in the main plot of this season it's also one that doesn't make a whole lot of sense as surely Charles would be more then likely to trust one of his own X-Men like for example either Cyclops or Wolverine then he would to trust the person who has tried to take the over world at several points in time and heck in the makers of this episode really wanted to make sure that giving Magneto all of this power was something that could work and be perfect for his character then they they should have  given us a reason for the characters to trust him and make that moment at the end of the episode still feel shocking as it should have been but also feel right for his character as you very easily could have had him show yup in the episodes third act fight to help the X-Men out whilst being mysterious about why he's actually helping them which would give them a reason to kind of trust him and would also feel true to his character but just having him appear at the end of the episode is a solid cliffhanger but it doesn't do his character any kind of justice whatsoever.

Now then this episode has /  had a exact grad total running time of exactly thirty minuets and thirty seconds. Which to be fair to this episode is pretty much the exact grand total running tome for the rest of this show as alot of this shows episodes have pretty similar running times to them anyway with this episodes having just the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place but in saying that tho this episode also doesn't use it's running time all that wisely either as the plot of this episode as good as it is really isn't that well developed with the episode just rushing from one big set piece to the next without really taking the time to set up the plot of the episode and to let the episodes plot become fully developed with this being something that the original series not only knew to do but also did really well as well despite having much more shorter running times and yet here in this episode also of the time it does feel like that the characters are just doing random things for the sake of doing it and when there is a plot in there it' the same plot from the first episode of the original X-Men: The Animated Series with the episodes characters not really getting much in terms of character development which is something that does kind of make sense as this is only the first episode of the show afterall but at the same time tho none of the characters that are returning from the original show get much interms of development either as we the audience aren't really given a reason to care for nay of the characters in this episode and while the original characters do come slightly betting in this regard this is mainly due to the fact that they were in the original show with them not really getting anything interms of this episode but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action episode that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Which is something that's kind of to be expected as all of the action in the original show was also really good and therefor it makes sense that the action in this episode would be just as good with alot of the main characters really getting a chance to show us just what it is that they can do and what it is that they ring to the team in any given action scene and while alot of the characters like for example Sunspot don't get a chance to show us just what it is that they bring to the team those that do like Storm for example really do make it count with the best action scene in the whole entire episode being the third act fight where alot of the X-Men take on these newly built and newly upgraded Sentinels with us getting a chance t see all of the X-Men's powers which is something that will always be cool to see with even getting just alot of really cool moments in that scene like Beast destroying the head of Sentinel just so he can use it's body as kind of like a giant puppet to take on and take down another Sentinel and while that scene is the best action scene in the whole episode the episode on the whole is filled to the brim with alot of really good looking scenes that look good because of the fact that this episodes tremendous animation really does help them all to come alive in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Overall not on this episode but this show as a whole is must watch for fans of the classic X-Men: The Animated Series as just by going off of this episode alone it does more then enough justice to both the original show and it's characters whilst also just being it's own thing which does prove that Marvel really does still know how to make good if not even great content when they really want to in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. ow the i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

My SPOILER FILLED First Impressions Of The X-Men '97 TV Series

To say that the classic X-Men animated is one if not the best X-Men adaptation of all time would be a huge understatement. Heck the show itself really is still so popular that people talk about and are showing it to there kids and well now the long awaited sequel series has finally debuted it's first two episodes on Disney+ well you all just knew that I had to check this shown the very first chance that I got and so then join me as In review the first two episodes of a show that brings back alot of classic things from X-Men: The Animated Series with the show in question being called simply just "X-Men '97" enjoy.

The plot of the first episode is when Sentinel tech is found in the hands of a terrorist group the X-Men have to find out who the source is that is selling them the tech and stop it once and for all where as the plot of the second episode is when Magneto is brought to court for his past crimes the X-Men have to protect hi when someone tries to kill him. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plots that are actually featured / presented to us in these very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plots that are actually featured / presented to us in these first two episodes was in all honesty not that bad with the first episodes plot defiantly being the stronger plot of the two as while the plot for episode two is indeed a good plot it's not the strongest plot that the show has had where as the plot of episode one was one of the more stronger plots of both series with both plots being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

As while yes alot of the original series cast members do indeed return for these new episodes alot of them haven't been playing these characters for decades and as a result it would have been understandable if they didn't turn in that good of a performance in these first two episodes but nope all of the cast members in both of these first episodes really do hit it out of the park with the old actors sounding like that they just finished there playing there characters just yesterday and the replacement actors do such a good job of sounding like the original voice actors with the acting in these first two episodes well being helped by the fact that the script for both of these first two episodes being so good that all the cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out them naturally.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good and was easily better then the animation that was in the original show which is not a knock against the original show at all it's just that the original shown really didn't have that good animation to it and yet here it's like they took what they did with the animation in the original series and just updated it and made it better and unlike the original show this show actually doesn't feature any animation errors with the show taking on what could best be described as an anime inspired look with it not really being all that surprising that the animation in these first two episodes was good as it's being done by Studio Mir who really only produce very high quality animation.

One of the things that was Kevin Feige wanted when being convince to make this show was the rights to use the theme song. Well could job because they use the theme song once again for this show but on top of that is the fact that gave us a pretty much shot for shot recreation of the shows original intro all of which go a really long way to make this show feeling like the start of season six of the original show and not that start of a brand new show as they didn't have to use the original intro that was a nice touch and it's one that fans of X-Men: The Animated Series are going to pick up on and while the new version of the theme song does lack the epic sounding bell sound at the end of the intro it does still contain that epic guitar solo with the intro even adding in spots for both Morph and Bishop and heck they even bring back the original shows ending which again was something that they didn't have to do and yet they went ahead and did it anyway which just proves that this show was made by the fans for the fans of the original X-Men: The Animated Series TV show.

While this show does have alot of really good things going for it there are some issues to be found in both of the episodes tho like the fact that they do Storm dirty as by the end of episode they strip her of her god like powers and have her leave the team. While this might be an adaptation of a comic book storyline which wouldn't be all that surprising as the original show was known for adapting comic book storylines as the same time tho they have it come out of nowhere and not even play a part in the plot of the episode and the other thing that I really didn't like about the first two episodes is the fact that they killed of Charles Xavier off screen when a character that's this important to not only the characters but to the show as a whole he is a character that should have been killed on screen as that is the kind of death that a character like this one should get and by doing that we would get the chance to see how his death effects all of the X-Men instead of just seeing how it effects Scott which just isn't all that interesting at least not compared to when you have the opportunity to show us how the whole team would react to the death of Charles Xavier tho. 

For some reason it seems like this show is trying to redeem Magneto which just doesn't work as he's a stone cold villain. Yes he has teamed up with the X-Men before in both the movies and in animation and so having him team up with the X-Men here in this cartoon isn't out of character for his character but it just comes out of nowhere as something that's this big should be built up as it is something that really change the status quo as we know the X-Men to be and while having he team up with the X-Men isn't a bad idea what is a bad idea is trying to redeem him as he is a character that shouldn't be redeemed as he's tried to take over the world countless times in the original show something which they do bring up and while he did it for the right reasons it's how he went about it that makes him the bad guy and will always make him the bad guy but with that being said tho it is interesting seeing how this version of the character acts when he's trying to do good and it's fun and interesting to see the rest of the X-Men come to terms with this change and learn to try and trust him as there essential leader.

Now then episode one for this show has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly thirty minuets ad thirty seconds with episode two having a grand total running time of exactly thirty minuets and thirty nine seconds. Which this new thirty minuet running time pretty much being the bogstanderd running for this new show and to this shows credit both of the episodes really do have alot of running time there to really cover there respective amount of running time and while episode two has the weaker of the two plots it's also the one that really does make the best use of it's running as it really delves into how Magneto has been dealing with the death of Charles Xavier and how he's been doing good not because it's the right thing to do but because that's his own personal way of honoring his late friend but at the same time tho it's episode one that really had the more fitting running time as while the subplot with Roberto Da Costa goes nowhere with the character really being dropped just a few minuets after really setting him up which makes him really feel alot like a really useless character but episode does use alot of the it's main cast really well during it's running time tho with both episodes having some really good pacing to them both tho.

So now then as this an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. Which is something that's not all that new as the original show had some really good action in it as well with episode one having the best action out of the two episodes as while the action in the episode two was indeed really good the action that we got given to us in episode one was also more fun to watch on top of it being really creative and while the action in episode two did a really good job of advancing Magneto's character arc of that episode it didn't really show of the main team all that well where as in episode one it's the opposite that's true as we get to really see each and every member of the team in that episodes final fight sequence and that really that makes the action at the end of that episode alot fun and cool to watch in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if these first two episodes are anything to go by then we finally another good if not great X-Men animated show to look forward each and every week but that is something that only time will tell but so far we are off to a really good start with this show feeling like it was a show that really was made for the fans and by the fans of the original X-Men: The Animated Series as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. ow then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in these very episodes in this very post as this is only my first impressions I won't give this show a rating as any show really can have a good or bad first few episodes but if this post does well then I really will look into covering more episodes of this show as a review tho.
