Worzel Gummidge "The Jumbly Sale" Review

TV fans there are some shows that despite being made for children somehow manage to be better then most shows that are made for adults. Worzel Gummidge is one of those shows and I think that i've found the episode that is not only pretty scary but also has what I think is one of the best acted and one of the best written scenes in the whole entire show and so then join me as I review the episode that sees a character finally get what they deserve with the episode in question being called simply just "The Jumbly Sale" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when she is donated to the local village jumble sale Aunt Sally asks Worzel to help her out only for Worzel to accidentally break of one of her legs. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with this episodes plot being alot better then what you'd expect from something that's made for kids in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge , Una Stubbs as Aunt Sally and Jeremy Austin as John Peters. Also starring in this episode is Charlotte Coleman as Sue Peters , Barbara Ashcroft as Mrs. Mountjoy , Geoffrey Bayldon as The Crowman , Mike Berry as Mr. Peters , Norman Bird as Mr. Braithwaite , Ted Carroll as Gypsy Joe , Norman Mitchell as P.C. Parsons and Michael Ripper as Mr. Shepherd.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Which is something that I know that I say alot about this show but there's one scene in this episode that really does hit home just how good the acting and the writing in this show well and truly was.

I really do believe that this episode contains what might possibly be one of the best acted and best written scenes in this whole show. With it being in the scene with Worzel just talking to The Crowman and telling him that he no longer wants to scare crows anymore because of the fact that he's ashamed of what he did to Aunt Sally and that whole scene is just wonderfully acted as we get to see the pain come through in Worzel's voice and we get to hear just how reluctant The Crowman is to grant Worzel his wish as he knows that he doesn't really mean it.

When I say that this episode gets dark quick I mean it because this episode gets dark as all heck by the ten minuet mark and it just stays there for the reminded of the episodes running time. While Worzel Gummidge has always had dark moments in it those moments never really lasted longer then a scene or two but when it takes up the overall majority of the episode it just makes the whole episode feel different because of the fact that there's very little levity in this episode which is something that I found to be really shocking.

While this episode is still a later Aunt Sally episode which are episodes that I usually dislike as they nine times our of ten end the exact same way. Here it ends with Aunt Sally not getting her way and ending up back and locked up n her owners attic which was something that was really refreshing as it goes to show that this character doesn't always win every episode that she's in it's just ashame that this episode doesn't force her character tog row as she ends up the exact same way in all of remaining appearances which does cheapen the ending of this episode just a little bit.

If your like me and you've grown rather tired of the Aunt Sally character just due to how she mistreats Worzel then you'll loved this episode. As this episode is mostly about her finally getting what's coming to her firstly with her leg being accidentally pulled of and secondly when she's locked up in her owners attic and while it's a shame that her experiences in this episode didn't humble the character a bit it does show that the makers of this show know that the character is starting to get annoying and making her getting knocked down a peg or two apart of the main story and showing Worzel feeling so distraught that he's willing to go the one place that all scarecrows can't bring themselves to say the compost heap really was a huge stroke of genius on behalf of show creators and writers Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this episodes running time even was I do know that for a fact that this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly twenty six minuets. Which to his episodes credit is the perfect running time for an episode like this one to have as it has more then enough there interms of plot and story to cover that large amount of running time and it really does help that this episode has some really great pacing to it as well with the episode really just flying right on by.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty pretty bad. With their not really being any laugh out loud amounts in this episode which would usually be a bad thing but given that this episode was more focused on being a pretty dark and scary episode it does make sense and plus we did get a greats stunt near the beginning of the episode with I think stuntman Terry Welsh falling from quite a high ways up which could be seen as joke in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this episode is such an underrated episode just due to how well written and how well acted the episode is and even the episode is very Aunt Sally focused it was still a rather good and a rather shocking episode as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this review from Amazon . Co . Uk , Wikipedia , Twitter and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the wonderful Google Images since all of the images that are currently up and and featured / presented to us on Google Images are all fairly high in quality and as well as being really fairly freaking high in definition.
