Akame Ga Kill! "Kill The Darkness" Review

While there are alot of anime that get popular and stay popular so much so that they breakthrough to the mainstream audiences. There are sadly quite alot of anime that are only popular for the time that they are airing and then they sadly fade away never to be heard of ever again as is the case with the show that i'm going to be talking about as back in 2014 this show was quite popular but once it finished airing new episodes it stopped being talked about eventually fading away into obscurity and so then join me as I review the episode that makes you believe that the bad guys are the good guys with the episodes in question being called simply just "Kill The Darkness" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when a young swordsman named Tatsumi travels to the capitol to help his impoverished village he finds that every thing is not as it seems and his whole gets turned upside down forever. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us n this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad but that's also the problem as the plot for this episode wasn't all that good as it was a bit on thin side with the plot of the episode really only kicking in in the final ten or so minuets of the episode with the rest of the episode not really adding all that much to the actual plot of the episode with the plot of the episode being really entertaining and also being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Corey Hartzog as Tatsumi , Allison Keith-Shipp as Leone and Brittney Karbowski as Aria. Also starring in this episode is Mike Vance as Gaurry , Carl Masterson as Aria's Father , Allison Sumrall as Aria's Mother , Patrick Poole as Ieyasu , Margaret McDonald as Sayo , Jessica Boone as Sheele , Tyler Galindo as Lubbock , David Wald as Bulat , Christina Kelly as Mine , Adam Noble as Merchant A , Gabriel Regojo as The Bartender and One Piece star Molly Searcy as Akame.

Now then  interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented t us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As this episodes cast do turn in some fairly decent performances the issue is tho is that the acting in this episode isn't all that good either as it just comes across as if the cast are just phoning in their performances alot of the time with the only one actually trying to turn in a decent performance is Allison Keith-Shipp as Leone who really is just a pure joy to listen to in this episode but the acting that's in this episode really isn't helped by the fact that the script for this episode just isn't all that good as it gives none of the episodes cast really absolutely nothing to wrong with interms of what there characters personalities are even meant to really be in the first place and that is something that really does effect the overall quality of the acting in this episode as this episodes script really just all of that bad.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at WHITE FOX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this episode was in all honesty not that bad as the animation in this episode was alot better then what it really could have been but at the same time tho the episodes animation isn't as good as it really should have been as the animation just felt flat with the backgrounds not being all that interesting or even detailed when other TV anime have very highly detailed backgrounds with the animation not being helped by the fact that the characters have some really stiff movements like all of which adds up to the animation in this episode feeling like it's unfinished.

We do get would could be seen as a tragic backstory for Tatsumi , Ieyasu and Sayo as all three of them are friends and yet due to circumstances that happen prior to the episode the three end up separated. While the three do indeed meet up again it's not under the circumstances that you'd want it to be as both Ieyasu and Sayo end up dead which does make there backstory and them being split up even more tragic then what it already is as while they are indeed trying to save there village from essentially dieing out when they get separated it's not the last time that Tatsumi saw Sayo alive with all three of them meant to be each others best friend with Tatsumi even witnessing the death of his other best friend Ieyasu first hand and while this backstory doesn't really hit as much as it should as this is only the first episode it hits in the way that it tells us that this world isn't one where the good guys will always come out on top and that some times the bad guys will win the fight.

One of the things that really does let this episode down is the fact that the world isn't as fully established as it really could have been. Which odes make sense as this is only the first episode of the show and the show did have twenty four episodes and as a result to expect things to be fully established in the first episode wouldn't be the wisest thing but at the same time when you start of a rocky foundations like this shows world building is it really doesn't matter how good things get later on in the show as the foundations will always be badly done and as a result it would have been nice if in this episode we got some information about how this world works and how that world got to be as bad as it was and why the rich people in this world are as bad as they are instead of not even touching on any of them and as a result of that the episode would have been better as it would have made all of those ideas seem alot more thought out then what it already is.

One of the many things that actually worked for this episode is the fact that it plays with your expectation. As usually in an anime when you see someone take a character in off the streets then there usually the good guy and are to be trusted and when someone attacks the house that that character is staying at then there usually the bad guy and yet in this episode they flip that around by having the rich people be the bad guys and the attackers be the good guys which was something that worked out really well as it tells you that nobody in this world is trust worthy as any of them could be about to kill you at any moment and it forces you to wonder who Tatsumi can actually trust all due to the events of this episode and while Aria and her parents aren't really that threatening of villains they do make for some solid villains for this debut as they are basically the first boss that you'd fight in a video game and thus aren't really meant to be as threatening as the main villain.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty three minuets and forty one seconds. Which is a solid running time for this debut to have as the episode does have more then enough plot there tom really cover that amount f running time but at the same time tho it would have been better if this episode did have a much more longer running time just so that the episode could flesh out it's characters a bit more and so that the episodes could also flesh out it's story a little bit more then what it already does and with the added running time the film could also flesh out the world that the show takes place in as well as this would have the add on effect of making the world feel alot more real but it would also have the add on effect of stretching what is already a fairly thin plot even thinner as it would mean adding in scenes that would add nothing to the overall plot of the episode but I will admit hat this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought // felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With the episodes action being the best part of the episode as that's where we get to see some really creative and just down right cool moments in this episode with the action in this episode being really exciting when it needs to be and also being really creepy and scary when it really has to be with alot of this episodes action scenes also being home to the episodes more over the top bloody and gory moments as well all of which make the action in this episode all the more fun to watch in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really fun filled episode to watch with this episode also proving why this show was as popular as it was when it first debuted as the episode does have alot of the over the top gore and action that the show would become known for but at the same time it also really shows us why the show didn't stay in the public eye that much as the episode really does offers us nothing interms of world building and lore in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7,5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Akame Ga Kill! fandom wiki page page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very episode that I used in this very review being the great and legendary Google Images simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not all of the images that are really from this episode and are of course on Google Images are really all fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.
