Batman: Enter Batgirl, Exit Penguin Review

Batman as a character has been around for decades and will most likely be around for decades but there's no denying the fact that the character was at his most popular in the nineteen sixties. This is of course due the classic Batman TV show and well I thought that since i've reviewed really quite alot of Batman media apart from episodes of the classic Batman TV show that now was really the right time to dive right on in and check out an episode of the show and so then join me as I review that introduces Batgirl into the fold with the show in question being called simply just "Enter Batgirl, Exit Penguin" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when the commissioners daughter is kidnapped by The Penguin it's to the dynamic duo to find her before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad  with this episodes plot being rather simply which is also true for the rest of the episodes of this show as well however those episode had one advantage that this episode and indeed the rest of this season don't have and that's extra time which allowed for their stories to move at a more natural pace where as here everything plot wise moves along so fast that it's hard to really get into the plot of the episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Adam West as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Burt Ward as Dick Grayson / Robin. Also starring in this episode is Yvonne Craig as Barbera Gordon / Batgirl , Alan Napier as Alfred , Neil Hamilton as Commissioner Gordon , Stafford Repp as Chief O'Hara , Burgess Meredith as Oswald Cobblepot / The Penguin , Jon Waltier as Henchman 1 , Jonathan Troy as Reverend Hazlitt , Elizabeth Harrower as Drusilla , Frank Gorshin as The Riddler and this shows producer William Dozier as The Narrator.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us un this very episode was in al honesty not that bad. Which is pretty much par the course for this show as the acting in this show and it's movies isn't that good but it's not that bad either which is understandable given the scripts for this show usually aren't that good however the script for this episode seems to be worse then the scripts for the shows first two season as the script has to juggle three main characters and still somehow give Batgirl some personality and it can't do that and as a result of this the episodes cast just can't turn in that good of a performance as the episodes script just won't allow for it.

As alot of you will know this is the episode that introduces us to Barbera Gordon / Batgirl with the character here being a librarian. However what alot of you might not know is the fact that the character has actually appeared in the show as before this third season of the show was confirmed the producers shot a seven minute pilot film to either convince the the network to pick the show up for a third season to convince the network to make a Batman spin off show with the pilot introducing a slightly different version of the character and with the pilot film being a success the producers decided to make the dynamic duo a trio with this version of the character keeping some things from the pilot film like the fact she is a librarian but loosing somethings like the fact that her hidden closet is now in her apartment and not at her place of work and she even has a different motorbike as well.

Another change that started with this third and final season was the fact that the show went from airing two episodes a week to airing just one episode a week. Which is something that just doesn't work in this episode as this is a story that really needed room to breathe and would have been alot better if it was two episodes long instead of just one with the same thing also being true for alot of the episodes this season as result of this reduced episode count it means that the stories in each episode can't be as good as they could have been as they now have three main hero characters all really fighting for screen time when the opposite would really be true if the show was still airing two episodes however in order to bridge the gap between each episode a teaser was added to the end of each episode that would tease the villain for the next weeks episode.

Alot of the villains plots for their schemes in this show are usually pretty over the top and really out there. With the same thing also being true for The Penguins plot in this episode as he wants to marry Barbera so then the Commissioner won't arrest him as he's apart of his family this is a rather out there scheme even for this show as there's nothing to really stop the Commissioner from stopping the wedding and from still arresting him even if he did succeed in his scheme but on the flip of that is the fact that his scheme is something that's not also fitting for this version of the character but is also oddly fitting for this show as both this version of the character and the show is known for being rather over the top and as such this villain scheme does fit in perfectly with the show and the world that this show takes place in.

Thus show always put alot more focus on it's comedy with the comedy in this show not really being that bad. However the issue is tho is that alt of the jokes that the show got right have now grown old and stale as there's only so many times you can see that everything in the Batcave is called the bat something before it starts to get old and as such the episode should have tried to do something new with the comedy which they really could have done with the introduction of Batgirl and yet for some strange reason they didn't instead all they did was keep to the same jokes that worked back in the first two seasons of the show only now instead of being fresh and funny there now just stale and rather really unfunny which they really shouldn't have been as when those jokes are right they can be really funny jokes.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty five minuets and fifteen seconds., Which isn't really enough time to tell this story and to also set up a new character and a new character dynamic none of this is the fault of the writer or the producers tho as instead it's the fault of the network who ordered these changes and as such the cast and crew had to do the best that they could have done with them and frankly they did the best that they could have dine given the changes that had to be made and as result of this much shorter episode count the episodes plot isn't allowed to breathe as now every single scene has to be about advancing the plot of the episode which wouldn't be a problem if the episode had an extra episode to really tell it's story with this not really being helped by thee fact that the episode has some really bad pacing to it with the episode being far two fast then what it really should have been.

So now then as this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual actin that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in al honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual actin that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Which is really nothing new for this show as this show has always had some really over and the top and fun and crazy action scenes which is helped by the fact that all three of the main heroes of this episode really do alot of there own stunt work which means that when you see Adam West throwing a punch that's that's really him doing it and it's that kind of believability that really makes the over the top action in this show and this episode really feel alot more real and believable in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this episode was a rather fun episode and it was fun to take a look back at the classic era of Batman and while this episode quite clearly isn't the show at it's best it was still a rather fun fulled episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad thing that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Amazon . Co . Uk and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very episode that I used in this very review being the wonderful Google Images simply just due to the fact that alot of the images that are on Google Images  are all really fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.
