Worzel Gummidge "Aunt Sally" Review

I think that i've made my love of Worzel Gummidge quite clear at this point so much so that I actively look forward to talking about the show. Even tho i've made me hatred of a certain character being really over used in this show later season that wasn't always the case as for the shows first two series this character would only show up a few times per series and well this is the episode that introduces that character and so then join me as I review the episode that introduces an iconic Worzel Gummidge character with the episode being called simply just "Aunt Sally" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when Worzel goes to the local village fair where he meets someone who he wants to be his intended. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good as it was a rather simple plot which for is the type of plot that works best for this show as this show really is all about having simply plots for it's episoes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge , Una Stubbs as Aunt Sally and Joan Sims as Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton. Also starring in this episode is Jeremy Austin as John Peters , Charlotte Coleman as Sue Peters , Mike Berry as Mr. Peters , Norman Bird as Mr. Braithwaite , Laura Graham as Miss Lewisham , Megs Jenkins as Mrs. Braithwaite , Norman Mitchell as P.C. Parsons and Michael Ripper as Mr. Shepherd.

Now then inters of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Which is something that's to be expected from this show has some really good acting within and alot of that comes down to the fact that this show is not only made up of some really good actors and actresses but also because of the fact that the scripts for this show are so good and so all the cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and good performances will come out of all of them very naturally.

As mentioned at the very start of the review this is the first episode to feature the Aunt Sally who in this episode I really did like quite alot. This was something that I wasn't expecting to be the case as due to the character being overused in the shows fourth and final series I grew to really hate her as alot of her stories all just ended the exact same way and so then to see an Aunt Sally story that not only doesn't end the same way that alot of her stories tend to end but to also see that Worzel isn't as loved up was really shocking.

Again what was really surprising to me was the fact that the Aunt Sally that we got in this episode seemed alot more tamer then the one that we got in the rest of the show. Yes she is still cruel to Worzel but we also get a scene where she does seriously considering staying with Worzel and is something that we never got in the later episodes which is a shame because it shows that the character did start of from a place where she could learn from her past experiences and grow as a character but for some reason that's not the approach that the makers of the show chose to take this character in.

What really caught me of guard is that it's Jon who gives Worzel the idea to go to the fair in a disguise of sorts. This really did catch me of guard as for the last two episodes he's the one that's telling Sue that Worzel is trouble maker and heck he even as says as such at the end of the shows first episode and so to see him be the one that gives Worzel not only the idea but the means to go dressed in someone else's clothes just didn't gel with the character that we'd seen in the past two episodes which is a shame because it is nice to see him acting more like a friend to Worzel it just doesn't really seem in his character to do so.

There is one shot in this whole entire episode that I have no idea how they filmed it and that's the scene where we first see Aunt Sally go from her doll form to her human form. This is why I wish that they included a DVD commentary for this episode as it would hopefully have answered that question as the shot starts of with the doll version off Aunt Sally upside down and then when Worzel puts her the right way up she transforms into her human form now obviously your not going to have your actresses hanging upside down for any period of time which really does make me wonder how that shot was accomplished.

Now then I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this episodes grand total running time even was but I do know that for a fact that this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly twenty four minuets. Which is pretty much the bog standard running time for this show to have and to this episodes credit it has more then enough there interms of both plot and story and as such this episode didn't really need to be that long and while I would have liked it if this episode was longer just so we could see more of Worzel and Aunt Sally together that would have thrown this episodes truly wonderful pacing of.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With this episode having quite alot of some very genuine laugh out loud moments with all of this jokes landing and there being very few if any bad jokes in this episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this episode and heck this whole entire first series for that matter is a great example of what this show can be like when it at's it's best and the fact that Jon Pertwee's acting is so good in this episodes heartbreaking finale just goes to show you just how good of an actor he well and truly was in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 9 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Amazon . Co . Uk , Wikipedia and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the wonderful Google Images since all of the images that are currently up and and on Google Images are all fairly high in quality and as well as being really fairly freaking high in definition.
