Batman: The Animated Series "Nothing To Fear" Review

Batman fans it's been a long time since I last reviewed an episode of Batman: The Animated Series and well I thought that it was about time that I take a look at another classic episode from Batman: The Animated Series. I have to admit that the episode that i'm going to be reviewing is an episode that I don't remember watching as a kid and as such this also served as my first time watching the episode in question / this particular episode and so join me as I review the Batman: The Animated Series episode that introduced us to The Scarecrow with the episode in question being called simply just / just simply "Nothing To Fear" enjoy.

The plot of this particular episode is The Scarecrow is has attacked Gotham University several times and it's up to Batman to put a stop to his crime spree before it's to late. In terms of what I personally thought about the plot of this particular episode in all honesty I thought that the plot of this particular episode was rather weak since it was pretty hard for me to work out what the actual plot of the episode actually was.

Starring in this episode is the great and legendary Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Robert Costanzo as Detective Bullock. Also starring in this episode is Bob Hastings as Commissioner Gordon , In his last appearance in Batman: The Animated Series we have the great Clive Revill as Alfred , Mari Devon as Summer Gleeson , Kevin McCarthy as Dr. Long , Richard Moll as Computer Thomas Wayne and Anthony and Henry Polic II as Jonathon Crane / Scarecrow and as A Security Guard.

In terms of what I personally thought about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this particular question in all honesty the acting that's featured / presented to us in this episode is on par with the acting that's featured / presented to us in all of the other episodes of Batman: The Animated Series. Since the acting in this particular episode is that good with all of the actors that are starring in this particular episode in my opinion at least turning in some really good performances.

Doing the animation for this episode is / was Dong Yang Animation Co., Ltd who mostly did work for Animaniacs amongst many other American cartoons. As for what I thought about there animation that's featured / presented to us in this particular in all honesty I felt Dong Yang Animation Co., Ltd didn't really put their best foot forward with this particular episode since while the animation in this particular episode is indeed it's not as good as it perhaps could or even should have been but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways.

Now then boys and girls I do believe that is episode was the first episode to introduce us to Jonathon Crane aka The Scarecrow and I have to say that this episode didn't do a good job with this particular character in my humble and very honest opinion. Since The Scarecrow is very smart person and yet none of that is shown in this episode and while his motivation for wanting to destroy Gotham University is indeed a good motivation.

However what isn't good is his method of going about it since he very easily could have used several bombs each planted at a particular point in the university and have those bombs destroy Gotham University. However he instead just trys robbing the bank either next door or across the street from Gotham University and he kidnaps a teacher at Gotham University and that's it and those methods won't be enough to take down an entire university so I do feel that there should have been more thought on how The Scarecrow is going to execute his plan.

Now then boys and girls I will fully admit that the only reason as to why I watched this episode is because of the "I am vengeance , I am the night , I am Batman" line. Just simply because even tho i've seen clips of that line of dialog before in Youtube i've never seen the actual episode in which that line of dialog comes from and heck until I think it was either yesterday or a few days ago I had no idea that this was the episode in which that lone of dialog originates / comes from and in my opinion at least that line of dialog is amazing in every single way possible.

Now then boys and girls this particular episode has a grand total running time of twenty two minuets and twenty five seconds. Which I personally felt was the right amount of time for this particular episode since there's not really alot of story to cover anything even close to thirty minuets and so it would have made absolutely no sense to make this episode a two part and it helps that this particular episode really does have really good pacing with the episode honestly flying by.

Now then boys and girls this is an action show after all and that does infact mean that I do infact have to talk about the action that's featured / presented to us in the actual episode itself and if i'm being really honest here boys and girls the action that's featured / presented to us in this actual episode was at best OK. Simply because nothing really exciting happens in the action scenes in this particular episode and so it was hard to for me to get excited by any of the action scenes that are featured / presented to us in this particular episode.

Overall this was a pretty average episode in my opinion but with that being said this episode did have a few good things going for it just not enough for this episode to be anything more then average. Now then boys and girls since i've just talked about both of the good and as well as both of the bad things that are in this particular episode in this very review that means that this episode gets a 5.5 out of 10 from me.

As for where I got the images that I used in this very review well i got the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Batman: The Animated Series fandom wiki page and from the official batman fandom wiki page. With my referred website to use to get images this particular episode being the official Batman: The Animated Series fandom wiki page simply because the official Batman: The Animated Series fandom wiki page and the official Batman fandom wiki page the official Batman: The Animated Series fandom wiki page was the only website to have images from this episode and I will give this episode this the ending shot where Bryce Wayne's shadow turns in Batmans shadow is just so freaking cool and awesome in every single way possible.
