The Sarah Jane Adventures: Invasion Of The Bane Review

Doctor Who is a programme that has been going for close to sixty years now but in all that time there have been very few spin off shows. Well in 2007 that's exactly what we got and the show in question brought in a new generation of fans for a classic Doctor Who companion as well as giving us more adventures in the world that we love and so then join me as I review the first episode that proved you don't have  to be in space to have an adventure with the episode in question being called simply just "Invasion Of The Bane" enjoy.

The plot of the episode is when Maria Jackson finds out that something is wrong at a drinks factory she and journalist become earths only hope of defeating these alien invaders. Now then interms of what I  personally thought /felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with this episodes plot doing a very good job of setting up the show and it's characters and it helps that the plot is also very engaging as well as being really very entertaining as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith , Yasmin Paige as Maria Jackson and Tommy Knight as Luke Smith. Also starring in this episode is John Leeson as The Voice Of K9 , Alexander Armstrong as The Voice Of Mr Smith , Samantha Bond as Mrs Wormwood , Porsha Lawrence Mavour as Kelsey , Jamie Davis as Davey , Joseph Millson as Alan Jackson and Juliet Cowan as Chrissie Jackson.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us n this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With of course Elisabeth Sladen killing it and turning in a great performance as Sarah Jane Smith but the whole cast also turning some truly wonderful performances as well which is pretty much par the course for this show.

Doing the CGI for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at The Mill and Any Effects. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad for 2007 TV show standards and to this episodes credit thew CGI does for the most part hold up really well altho I will admit that there are a few very dodgy looking CGI shots in this episode but those are very few and far between.

This episode is also the only episode to feature the character of Kelsey Hooper who from what I can tell from this episode was never meant to be in the rest of the show. Which kind of makes her a pointless character since she's really annoying and on top of that all she does is get in the way of our main heroes reaching their goals if she was meant to appear in the rest of the show then i'm sure that she might have smoothed of a little bit but as she's only in this one episode she just comes across as a rather unlikable and annoying character.

Even for a kids TV show this episode was really well written which shouldn't come as a surprise since this episode is co-written by the shows show runner Russel T. Davis. With this episode giving us some lovely pieces of dialog and the characters apart from maybe one or two are really well written which just goes to show you that if you write a good script for a kids TV show then kids will watch it and better then that they will keep on coming back week after week and that's what happened with this show and alot of that is not only due to Elisabeth Sladen but is also due to the writing on the show and in this episdode just being that good.

One of this episodes very badly written characters is that of Chrissie Jackson who is just a flat out bad character. Since from what I can work out she's meant to the the comic relief character except she's given nothing funny to say or do and she's just a flat out bad mother who moved her daughter to a new location because of the fact that she wanted to do something and that's it I get that we're not meant to really like this character but that doesn't mean that you have to write her to be this really annoying characters on top of all of that.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty two seconds. Which does make this episode the longest episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures and it's not hard to see why this  episode was as long as it was since it had alot to set up and still tell a good story and as such it really did need all the extra time that it could get and to this episodes credit it really does make the most of it's running time I only wish that the pacing was a little better since this episodes does feel a tad bit slow in places.

So now then since there is some action in this episode that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Altho I will admit that it is very easy to tell when they are using stunt doubles and when their using the actual actors which does take me out o the action but at the same time the action in this episode isn't that bad and was alot better then what it really had any right to be in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a great introductory episode to a great series that was rather tragically cut off far to soon and it's one that I hope alot of us remember fondly because this show and this episode are both that good in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from  the official Doctor Who fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the wonderful Google Images since all of the images that are currently up and and featured / presented to us on Google Images are all really fairly high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
