Supergirl TV Series "The Adventures Of Supergirl" Review

Believe it or not we have just a few a weeks left until the second and hopefully better live action Supergirl films comes out. While yes there will be a tie in review for that film coming out about a week or so before the release of that film this isn't it as people have seemed to have forgotten the fact that the character did also appear in a successful live action TV show with it being an episode of that show that i'm going to be talking to you all about today and so then join me as I review the episode that not only saw Supergirl meet her more famous cousin but also saw the show jump ship to The CW with the episode in question being called simply just "The Adventures Of Supergirl" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when a Kryptonian ship crash lands on Earth Supergirl and her cousin Superman have to find out who was in the ship and stop an assassination attempt on Lena Luthor. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. For a show on The CW this episodes plot was about as good as it was ever going to be as lets be frank here when you think of shows on The CW you don't usually think of high end plots and with this in mind this episodes plot did turn out to be alot more better then what it really should have been. With the plot of the episode being one that is quite fun and does serve as a great way to get you into what was this shows second season as it doesn't hit you over the head two much with the series overall plot rather it just gives you the basic Supergirl plot and that's really it and to be fair for a season opener that's all it really needed to do and while yes it would have been nice if the plot of this episode was alot more stronger as alot of the time it did feel like the episode was just on repeat mode until we get to the third act with this being something that did make it feel like the plot of the episode was playing second fiddle to Superman when it should have been the other way around with even the fact that Superman is in this episode doesn't really add anything to the episodes plot as he doesn't really do alot to advance the plot of the episode in the first place with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers / Supergirl and Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen. Also starring in this episode is Chyler Leigh as Dr. Alex Danvers , Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott , Chris Wood as Mon-El , David Harewood as Director J'onn J'onzz / Martian Manhunter , Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent / Superman , Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant , Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor , Brenda Strong as Dr. Lillian Luthor , Frederick Schmidt as John Corben , Andrea Brooks as Eve Teschmacher , Sachin Sahel as McGill and Darren E. Scott as Baker.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. The fact that this episodes acting is about as average as you'd expect from a CW show is pretty much something that you expect as much like how no one goes into Power Rangers expecting good acting the same thing is true for quite literally any show on The CW, yet even so the acting in this episode was alot more better as you could see the actors actually trying to put in a good performance with alot of quite clearly caring about the show enough to put in a good enough performance in the first place. With the best actor in this episode being Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant as while it would have been super easy to say that either Melissa or Tyler were the best actors in this episode Calista just about stole the show acting wise as she does have a great speech in the episode and with her making it obvious that she is leaving the show she does have go the extra mile to make her performance in the episode be all the more believable and this is something that she does do with great ease. With the acting that's in this episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the CGI for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Lindala Schminken FX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Look to be fair CGI has never been The CW's strongest suit as alot of there effects heavy shows like this one and Th Flash for example do have alot of very wonky CGI in them but in this episode is does feel as if the episode had already ran out of money for it's effects. As alot of the flying effects do look half finished even for a TV show with Superman himself perhaps getting the worst flying effects in he episode as it does just look like he's being dragged like something on a laptop or computer and heck the scenes with him and Supergirl together in the air just look fake as it's clear that the actors weren't filmed together. However whilst there are alot of really bad looking effects in this episode there are also some decent looking ones as well like for example the Lena Corp building does look pretty good as does the scene where Supergirl and J'onn are trying to stop the falling Kryptonian ship from crashing into alot of buildings and yet it's the more bigger scenes that do let this episodes CGI down as its all good giving alot of the more smaller scenes in the episode some really good effects but you also have to give the more important scenes some really good looking effects as well and this is something that this episode just doesn't do now in all fairness this could be a budget reason as this episode would have had to have spread its budget across a whole season of episodes which if that was the case then why did they introduce a character that's going to eat up more of there effects budget in the first place when that could have been used to make the episodes effects all the more better then what they already are.

As was mentioned at the very start of this review this episode does see Superman fully make his debut in this show. While yes the character did technically appear in the first season of the show it was always either from behind or really far away but this is the first time that we actually get to see him proper with this version of the character being abut as true to the Superman character as you can hope for on a TV show budget with him being the eternal optimist which is something that is true to how character as Superman will always look for the good in people even if they can't see it yet in themselves and this is something that we do get to see this take on the character do in this episode as we get to see him talking to other member of Team Supergirl with him more often then no giving them advice on how to get what it is they want currently in life. The only thing does somewhat let this version of the character down is the fact that both he and Supergirl are cracking jokes at each other every few minuets that they are on screen together which is something that does make sense as they did quite literally grow up together but alot of the time it does feel like that they are stopping the episode to have the characters make a quick joke and when you add in the face that Supergirl is also an eternal optimist in this show it does make there conversations together just not that interesting with the only interesting thing that they say to each other being at the end of the episode when Superman asks Kara to tell him stories of Krypton which is so that does make sense as he was only a baby when the planet blew up and show would know alot more about the planet then he would have done but if the makers of this episode had her start to doubt herself in this episode then maybe there chats together could have been more fun to watch as then he would be someone who is trying to motivate her instead of someone who is just like her and talking the exact same way that she does.

This episode does also see the show fully jump ship from CBS to The CW however whilst this does come with it's advantages like being alot more easier for crossovers to happen as now all of the Arrowverse shows are filmed in the same studio. It does also come with it's disadvantages as well as actor Calista Flockhart did have to leave the show as it would mean being away from her family for a huge portion of the year something which wasn't an issue in the first season as the first season of the show was filmed in LA whereas from season 2 onwards they mostly filmed in Vancouver this is does have the on add effect of making this show look like all of the other Arrowverse which granted is great for unity but given the fact that this show is meant to take place on a different earth it does make the show feel alot less unique. With another plus being the fact that it does allow for the makers of this episode to be alot more hands on something which we don't really get to see in this episode as the episode does feel like a typical Supergirl episode and that's really it but we do get to see a change to the status quo of the show with Kara now being a reporter and the DEO now having a bigger base of operations this was no doubt done due to the fact that they the show might have had a bigger budget this time around and while the effects don't entirely reflect that the fact that we get a new main set for the rest of the show does and to be fair to this episode it does show of this new set quite alot as we get alot of scenes in this new set with the characters just showing alot of the different rooms something which they might not have done in the previous season and while not alot of the new scenes in this new set add anything to the plot of the episode the set itself is one that does look really impressive but at the same time tho the makers of this could have spent alot less on that set and given more of the money to the episodes effects teams t make this episode effects be all the more better.

The main villain in this episode is John Corben with the character apparently being one of the best assassins in this world. I say apparently as he has two attempts to kill Lena Luthor and he fails both times which is something that one of the best assassins in the world just wouldn't do granted the first reason was because of the fact that she changed her mind about going on the space ship and did something else but on the second attempt he was only fighting Alex a mortal who he could have shot several times but didn't this doesn't really make him a good assassin but given the fact that he's the first villain of a new season he does his job well enough as he's only there to set up the main threat for this season which is CADMUS and the villains that they create. With John himself not really being the best of villains as he doesn't have a main plan in mind which does make it look like that he's just doing all of these things for no reasons now granted there is very much a chance that in further episode they might very well have explained what his plan was in this episode but in terms of this episode they do no such thing which is something that does make him look like a weak villain as there's nothing interesting about him that makes us the audience want to see more of him as a character and yet yet he gets the big tease for the season when he gets turned into Metallo which isn't enough to make him an interesting character granted the first villain if a new season is never meant to be interesting as they are basically there to get you in the mood for what's to come but there really still needs to be something literally anything about them that makes them worth while be it there power of there plan and yet John has nothing interesting about him and therefor we the audience have really no reason to care for him as a character.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly forty two minuets and forty eight seconds. Which to be fair to this episode is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this show in the first place and while the episode really didn't need that amount of running time it would have done more harm to the episodes plot then good if the episode was even five minuets shorter as the episode does have alot of things to set up and while alot of the rings that it does set up would have been better saved for the second episode getting them out of the way here does allow for those other episodes to be more fun in the first place with this episode having the right mount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place. However the episode really doesn't use its running time all that wisely as the episode doesn't take the fully develop its plot and while this isn't a huge issue as it is something that very easily could be an issue for all of the other Arrowverse shows it ie something they the makers of this episode should taken some steps in fixing as due to the plot being as wafer thin as it is there times where it does get to tell just what the main plot is meant to be with the makers of hie episode being more focused on showing us its new DEO set then it is in giving us a well thought out plot. The same thing could also be said for the episode character development altho here there is an in build excuse as you could very well make the argument that the characters got alot of there character development during the shows first season which is something that would be a fair point to make however a character like Superman didn't get any character development which again you could argue he doesn't need as he's so well in the first place but this is a new version of the character and yet we know nothing about him with the makers of this episode being more focused on having Clark and Kara making jokes about each other then they are in giving there characters some character development but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With the episode really delivering on its action as well as it possibly could have done as we do have to take into account that this is a TV show that's made on a TV show budget and therefor we can't expect there to be lots of really good action every few minuets as that just wouldn't be good for the episodes budget and yet with that in mind this episodes action did turn as well as it could have done. With the best action scene in the whole entire episode being the third act attack on Lena Luthor as we get to not only see Superman and Supergirl working together with both of them using there powers to stop her building from falling but we also get to see Alex engage John in hand to hand combat with her being more then able to hold her own against him, with it always a good time when we get to see more then one superhero use there powers as that is something that will always be cool to see with it being Supergirl that does rightfully save the day as she is the title character after all as she does construct a small tower made out of steel beams to support the building and stop it from falling which is a pretty unique way to save the day with the hand to hand fight being the more interesting of the two bits of action as we do get to see both characters struggle to get the upper hand on the other with Alex only just barely escaping with her life with the rest of the episodes action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while time will indeed tell if the forthcoming movie Supergirl will be a good film this show and this episode isn't one that should be slept on either as while yes this episode is just the stereotypical The CW superhero show episode this is something that is right for this version of the Supergirl character in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that re in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Batwoman TV Series "Pilot" Review

For some strange reason in the late 2010's and early 2020's Warner Bros thought that it was a good idea to produce live action shows that are in the world of Batman but not feature Batman in them at all. With the first one to come out being the show that i;m going to be talking about today as this show does also have the honor of being the only non Batman Batman show to also be set within the world of the Arrowverse and so then join me as I review the episode gives us a lame reason for not having Batman in it with the episode in question being called simply just "Pilot" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when her ex-girlfriend goes missing Kate Kane returns to Gotham City to try ad find her and to try and find her missing long lost sister. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in al honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad but that's also the issue as the plot for this episode wasn't all that good ether with the plot of the episode being what can only be described as thin at best as while the plot does indeed get going right away it's also not a strong enough plot for the first episode of a new TV show as the plot of the episode just comes and goes whenever it wants and the characters spending alot of time not even advancing the plot of the episode with the plot of the episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting thats actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. However the acting in this episode was all that good either which is kind of the thing for a show on The CW it is something that is still worth pointing out as bad acting will always be bad acting and alot of that does come down to the episodes director who quote clearly doesn't know how to get a good performance this is despite the actors in this episode turning in some good performances in other projects with the acting in this episode not really being helped by the fact that this episodes script just isn't all that good as it gives none of the episodes cast nothing to work with interms of what it is that there characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does effect the overall quality of the acting that's in this episode.

Doing the CGI for this episode is Encore VFX and the legends and the greats that are currently over at Splice. Now the interms of what I personally thought / felt abut the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty laughably bad. Even for a show on The CW this shows CGI in this episode really was really bad with them using an obviously CGI grappling hook for one scene when they could have done it practically and the shows projection was bad even for the small budget that all of the The CW shows have this episode had some laughably bad CGI in it and granted when you think of Batman you don't usually think of CGI which does make it all the odd that they decided to us CGI in this episode let alone CGI that looks really bad.

For some strange reason both this episode and Gotham Knights seem to think that what we want in a live action Batman TV show is for Batman to not only not appear in the show at the all but in the case of this episode have him act out of character when he does appear in the episode. As Batman would never ever leave Gotham let alone leave it undefended he would ask someone like Nightwing or Batgirl for example to defend Gotham while he's gone but nope in this episode he just disappears for no reason and while Gotham Knights does give a more understandable reason for the character not appearing in the show it still doesn't excuse the fact there trying to do a Batman TV show without Batman and in the case of this episode they have him act out of character as well as Batman would never work in the day he would only operate in the night so then that way people can't work out that he's Bruce Wayne and yet here in his appearance in this episode they have him trying to save Young Kate , Young Alice and there mother in broad daylight.

To this episodes credit it does try to do someone thing new with the episodes main villain by having be reveled to be the long lost sister of our main heroine. The issue is tho is that the show makes this reveal in the first episode when it would have been better of as something that was reveled in the first season finale of the show as by then we the audience would have had more of a chance to form a connection with these characters and want to see the hero succeed in bringing the villain down and it would therefor thus make it all the more shocking when it's reveled that the villain is also the same person that the hero has been trying to find for decades at this point in time and yet by doing it in the first episode we the audience are now ahead of what the characters know when we should be on a level playing field with them finding out these pieces of information at the same time as the characters are and not finding all of this stuff out before the characters are this just goes to show you that writer Caroline Dries has no idea how to write for these characters.

The episode and series villain Alice was a really interesting villain altho her constantly quoting Alice's Adventures In Wonderland did get very grating. As while it's fun at first and it makes her more of a quirky villain it's also something that gets old really fast and while she is rightfully insane and his an interesting backstory she doesn't have a plan in this episode which could be argued is the point as the character is meant to be a the very least partially insane think of her as like the female version of The Joker but at the same time tho even The Joker does have plans at times that match up with his goals and here since she's such a strong villain that could very easily push our main hero to her limits it makes all of the episodes other villains seem weak when infact it should be the other way with her instead being the final villain of this shows first season with her appearing only in select episodes in order to build up just how much of a threat that she really is instead of just having her appear in the shows first ever episode.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly forty two minuets and twenty three seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for these Arrowverse shows to have and to this episodes credit it really does make the most of this running time as given that this show does indeed take place in the Arrowverse it really doesn't need to spend alot of time setting up the world of the show but alot more time should have been spent on developing the shows main characters instead of just having them appear as being very note characters and the episode really should have spent alot more time in developing it's plot alot more as the episode really does have more then enough plot there to really cover that amount of running time and yet due to the fact that the episodes plot really does keep on coming and going it feels like it's a really underdeveloped plot as the shows plot does feel like it was really underdeveloped but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now the as this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in al honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As we do get to see Kate in some really cool action scenes all of which give us the chance to see just how good of a fighter that she is and it gives us a chance to see all of the fighting that she's learned while she was a away from Gotham but at the same time tho alot of this episodes action just felt exactly the same with there being nothing new added to them to make them standout and feel unique and different which granted there's only so much that you can do when it's just two people punching each other but there still needs to be something new added in to make them feel unique , new and different in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this shows pilot episode was so much worse then the pilot for Supergirl as at the very least the pilot episode for Supergirl was a fun episode that respected not only Superman but also Supergirl as well where it's the opposite that's true for this episode as this episode wasn't all that fun to watch and it doesn't respect Batman nor does it respect the character of Batwoman as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked abut all of the good and as well as all of the bad thing that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 4.5 out of 10 from me.

Supergirl TV Series "Pilot" Review

When people talk about the Arrowverse they mainly talk about both either Arrow or The Flash and rightfully so as those were some really good shows. However very little if anybody talk about the show that i'm going to be talking about today as it is a show that should be talked as it made a mostly unknown character become alot more well known interms of the mainstream audience and so then join me as I review the episode that introduces a new hero to the world of the Arrowverse with the episode in question being called simply just "Pilot" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when she saves the life of her sister Kara Danvers has to choose between living the life that she's been told to live or become the hero that she was always meant to be and save her city from an escaped alien convict in the process. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as it was the stereotypical pilot plot for a superhero show but at the same time this episodes plot doesn't really do a good enough job of setting up the world that this show takes place in and while yes that does indeed make some sense as this is only the first episode you also have to lay the groundwork for the world building as well and while the plot of this episode does indeed set up the plotline for this season really well it is still a fairly weak storyline with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was n all honesty not that bad. As the acting that we got in this episode was alot better then what it really had any right to be given that acting in any pilot episode is very rarely if ever that good when compared to the rest of the series as the series cast are still trying to find there characters the very fact that we got acting is as a good as it is in this episode can only be a good sign with this being helped by the fact that this episodes cast a genuinely good bunch of actors with the actin this episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as these Arrowverse shows aren't really known for having fantastic CGI in the with this episode being no exception but at the same time given the small budget that this episode would have had this episode has alot more better CGI then it really should have had as by all accounts this episode should have had some really bad looking CGI in it and yet the effects in this episode look so much better then the CGI in say The Flash TV series for example and while the episode does have alot of painfully bad CGI effects in it the episode also has some really good looking CGI effects in it as well.

To this episodes credit it is alot better then the Supergirl as it does treat Supergirl herself alot better then what she was treated in the movie. As in the movie she was very boy crazy and was a bit of a clutz even setting the films plot into motion by putting her entire civilization into danger where as here she's treated with alot more respect as she's someone who is very caring and is someone one who does care for her family as evidenced by the fact that she openly exposes herself by trying to save her adoptive sisters life something which could put not only her life but also the life of her friends and family in danger as well and when she gets the call to be a hero she says yes right away as it's the right thing to do and not because t's quite literally in her DNA to help people and it's that kind of attention to detail that proves that the makers of this show have alot more respect and love for the character then what the makers of the movie did as the makers of the movie her fighting an invisible enemy which even for the Superman movies was just such a dumb idea.

While this episode does indeed make several references to Superman which does make sense. At the same time tho it's not really something works all that well for not only this episode but the episode as a whole as it doesn't really give Kara the chance to stand out as a character as we the audience are being reminded of this other character that we are all the more familiar with and while yes having him in this episode does make sense as both her back story and Superman's backstory are tied together he really wasn't needed to seen nor referenced after she got dropped of at the Danvers house hold.

This episodes main villain Vartox really isn't that interesting of a villain. As while he is just a first episode villain and therefor he shouldn't really push are main hero to her limits as that really wouldn't make sense as we the audience aren't really attached to her yet as a character he still needs to be an interesting villain and while to his credit he does have a good plan of trying to get revenge on presumably his villain friends by blowing up a plane that contains government agents it's that very plan that causes Kara to reveal herself to the public as well.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly forty five minutes and fifty nine seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for alot of these Arrowverse shows and to this episodes credit it does make the most of that running time but at the same time tho the episode could have been alot longer as at this point in time the show really wasn't set in the main Arrowverse and as a result of that is that it doesn't have that knowledge of how that world works to fall back on but I will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing it tho.

So now then as this an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episodes was in all honesty really good. Which is something that's not all that new as the Arrowverse shows had some really good action in it as well with this episode having some really good action in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this episodes wasn't as good as I remember it being it's still quite clear that alot of love and passion for the character into making this episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

My First Impressions Of Superman & Lois Which Include TWO SPOILERS

 

Superman fans the man of steel has been the star of many TV shows and films both animated and live action and he'll most likely be the star in many more TV shows and films both live action animated in the future. Well the latest live action TV show to star the man of steel has just premiered and so I thought that i'd give you my first impressions of the show and so join me as I give you my first impressions of the show that is called simply "Superman & Lois" enjoy.

The plot of this show is after a family tragedy Clark Kent , Lois land and their twin sons Jonathon and Jordon move from Metropolis to the small town of Smallville where Clark must learn to be a father and that one or even both of his sons might have powers of there own. I admit that I like the idea behind the show however this actual first episode really doesn't have much in terms of plot which to me is a bad thing since if you don't have a plot then your film , TV show or TV show episode have no reason to exist in my opinion.

Starring in this episode are Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent / Superman and Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane. Also starring in this episode are Jordan Elsass as Jonathan Kent , Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent , Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing , Inde Navarrette as Sarah Cushing , Wolé Parks as Captain Luthor , Dylan Walsh as General Sam Lane , Emmanuelle Chriqui as Lana Lang Cushing and Michele Scarabelli as Martha Kent.

As for what I thought about the acting in this episode in all honesty the acting in this episode was really good for the first episode of a new show. That doesn't mean that I thought that the acting in this first episode was bad because it honestly wasn't but it's clearly not going to be as good as acting in say episode ten or episode fifteen of this show but to me I do feel that all of the actors in this episode did a really good job even if some of the actors feel wasted in this episode in my opinion.

Now I cannot find out who is doing the CGI for this show which is honestly a freaking shame due to what i'm going to say next. Since I really liked the CGI in this episode all of the shows set in the Arrowverse have good CGI in them and the same is true for this show at least based on this first episode since every CGI effect in this episode looks so good and I hope to god that this show keeps on having good CGI effects since any thing to do with Superman in live be it a TV show a movie is going to be an effects heavy production and and as such the CGI effects in this show should always be good in my opinion.

SPOILER ALERT FOR TWO THINGS IN THIS EPISODE OF SUPERMAN & LOIS RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

Now as some one who has watched alot of if not all of the shows in the Arrowverse (yes i'm including the animated web shows in there as well) I was honestly shocked that the first episode chose to include a reference to the 1940's Max Fleischer Superman cartoons. I was shocked because no Superman media has made a reference to the 1940's Max Fleischer Superman cartoons and so it was good to see those cartoons get some love in this show in my humble and honest opinion.

Now there is one thing that might disappoint you guys and that's the fact not only does Melissa Benoist not appear as Supergirl but in this episodes opening narration Clark Kent / Superman makes no reference to Supergirl. Usually when a show doesn't make a reference to other more well known characters its because that they want the show to stand on it's own but here since Superman and Lis Lane ae already well known characters it would have made sense for this episode to at least mention Supergirl or at least include a line but why she's not in this episode since there's no reason whatsoever why Supergirl couldn't be the one to handle the attack at the Metropolis Power Plant at the start of this episode in my opinion.

THE TWO SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST EPISODE OF SUPERMAN & LOIS END RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will say that so far this show does seem to be lot better then Batwoman (I never even made to half way thought the first season of Batwoman that's bad the Batwoman TV series is in my opinion) simply because not only does this show have better writing and acting that Batwoman but it also respects the Superman lore which is something that Batwoman doesn't do. All of these reasons and more so far point to Superman & Los being a much better show that Batwoman because the acting on Batwoman was at best passable , the writing on Batwoman was bad and the Batwoman TV show doesn't respect the Batman lore like how this show respects the Superman lore which for a comic adaptation no matter if it's a film adaptation or a TV adaptation or whatever kind of adaptation you need to respect the lore of what ever it is that your adapting in my opinion and apart from Batwoman the Arrowverse shows are usually very good at respecting the lore of whatever hero or heroes that there adapting in my honest opinion.

This episode has a total running time of fifty one minuets and twenty six seconds which I personally thought was a bit on the long side. Simply because not alot actually happens in this episode since this episode is just setting up the rest of the show plus like I said near the start of the review this episode doesn't really have much of a story as such it seems pointless that this first episode of this new show would be almost an hour long when you very easily could have had the this episode come in at forty five minuets long and nothing of importance would have had to have been lost in my humble and honest opinion.

Now i'm not going to say why this is the case because it could be seen as a spoiler but it's also pretty given the plot the show but there's very little to no action in this opening episode. Which I personally found to be both refreshing and confusing at the time it's refreshing because it means that alot more time can spent with these characters and fully developing these characters especially the newer characters but at the same time it was confusing because this is a superhero show and you expect there to be action in a superhero show and so while not having much action in this first episode oddly made sense for the characters it was still a pretty strange thing for the makers of this show to do in my humble and honest opinion.

Overall this first episode really did get alot of things right and i hope that this show does continue to be as good as this episode. Yes this episode isn't perfect since i've talked about alot of the good things and the bad things that are in this episode in this review (the reason why i've not talked about the characters in this episode is because it didn't really make sense to talk about the characters un the first episode of a new show but if I do review this show at the episode fifteen if im still watching the show by then then i'll most likely talk about the characters then in that review.) and since this is only my first impressions of the show I won't be giving this show a rating just because I don't think it's fair to judge a new show just based of the first episode since every show can have good or bad episodes but I will say that this show is worth watching in my personal opinion.

Honestly I feel that the best website to use for images from this particular episode (this episode has the totally original name of Pilot by the way) then i'd say use Google Images since Google Images have alot of verity of images but be warned not all of the images on Google Images are high quality or high definition so you've been warned. 

My First Impressions Of The Stargirl TV Series

Ladies and gents DC is back with a new live action TV show which depending on how your going to watch the show will either have just been released or is about to air. Well this is a show that I was honestly intrigued about since I knew nothing of the characters as such I was honestly interested in seeing the show since it's also the last new DC live action show that we might be getting this year I thought that it was at least worth taking a look at and so here are my first impressions of "Stargirl" not to be confused with the Disney+ movie of the exact same name.

The plot of the episode is teenager Courtney Whitmore and her mother move from California to Nebraska with her step dad and brother and when they get there Courtney discovers something that will change her life forever. Yeah this is your basic superhero origin story with nothing new really thrown in but I do have to say that it does work for this show mostly because from what I can tell the origin is being done over two episodes instead of just one which means we'll get more time to fully develop Courtney as a character.

Starring in this episode and thus the rest of the series is Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore and Yvette Monrealas Yolanda as Montez/Wildcat. Also in this episode and the rest of the series is Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel , Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler , Trae Romano as Mike Dugan , Jake Austin Walker as Henry King Jr. , Hunter Sansone as Cameron Mahkent , Christopher James Baker as Dr. Henry King Sr. , Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore , Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton and Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan.

In terms of what I thought about the acting in this episode for a pilot episode the acting was about on par as what I was expecting it to be. In that it's not that good but it's not that bad either all of the actors are still trying to find there characters but you honestly expect fairly average acting in a pilot anyways so no one should hold that against this episode since most pilot episodes have bad acting in them anyways.

I will say that if your expecting Courtney to be wearing the costume at the end of this episode then get ready to be disappointed. Since she doesn't wear it at all in this episode hell they don't even show her making a costume which is honestly really refreshing since it would have been super easy to have her appear in a few sexy alternative costumes before settling on the one she wears but the most we get is her wearing a hoodie and bandanna and that's it.

They do actually kind of set up a mystery which I hope lasts the whole season because if it does it will make things really interesting. If you can't tell i'm trying to keep things as spoiler free as possible since alot of people will be watching this show when it airs on The CW and so it's not fair to them if I spoil the episode , if the mystery goes they way that I think it's going then it's going to make things really interesting in later episodes of the show should it go that way of course but I could be wrong but I hope that i'm not tho.

Now how this show is being released is to me really interesting because it's airing on both the DC Universe streaming service and The CW but on different days. Why they couldn't just stick to on platform to release this show on is beyond me but I guess it gives people more reasons to subscribe to DC Universe since there's new content on there now but if that's the case then why have it air the next day on The CW and why when the series has finished airing are hey going to have all the episodes available on The CW website for all to stream it really makes no sense to me whatsoever but that's just my opinion on the matter tho.

I admit I got a little bit worried that this show would go super woke on us with it's first episode like what Batwoman did. and i'm pleased to say that that honest'y isn't the case at least with this episode. That to me is a very good thing since hitting you over the head with being woke at the expense of telling a good story is never a good thing but here it looks like there telling a good story first and and having a female superhero be second which is a good thing because it makes Courtney seem more like an interesting character.

I will say that this episode really did fly by for me this episode is nearly an hour long and it really didn't feel like it at all. Which is honestly a pretty rare thing for me to say since most shows that are exactly an hour long very often feel like there an hour long where as this one felt more like it was forty to forty five minuets long and alot of that time is spent developing the characters so we actually get a chance to care about them which is something that most shows don't do which to be fair isn't a bad thing since you have an entire series to develop them and care for them but it's nice to see the pilot episode take it's time to develop the characters.

I'm just going to come right out and say it this show looks like a freaking movie it's that stunning to look at. Hell there were several times where I thought that this could very easily be turned into a movie because it looked that beautiful even the effects which i'm not really going to comment on since there's not that many of them in this episode looked like the kind of effects that you'd expect to see in a movie and not a TV show.

Overall I honestly really did enjoy this episode and I can honestly see myself enjoying the over twelve episodes of this show. There is a reason why i've not mentioned the action sadly it's kind of a spoiler but if you've seen the episode you'll know why but let's just say for a superhero action show it's a bad thing but I will say that so far this show is of to good start it has interesting and likeable characters and it gives you a hint as to where the story could be going as such this episode even tho it's not perfect gets an 8 out of 10 from me and only time will tell if I watch this on a weekly basis or not but so far so freaking good.

Elseworlds Review

DC fans the Arrowverse has really taken of on The CW with countless shows both live action and animated and very year alot of these shows like to get together for one big crossover think Justice League if it was done on a TV budget. Well now the latest crossover event have finally finished and i'm here to bring you my review of it so here here is my review of "Elseworlds".

The basic plot of this crossover is Barry and Oliver wake up one morning and find that everyone thinks there each other and so they have to team up with Kara to not only work out what's going on but to also put a stop to it. I'll be the first to admit that the story for this years crossover wasn't as good as last years just due to the fact that last years crossover not only had a self contained story but also advanced many of the stories seen on the individual shows and this time that's not the case at all. It also doesn't help that The Flash portion of the episode really does feel like a prolog.

I'm not going to name every single actor who's in this years crossover just because there's so many so instead i'm just going to name the actors who appear in more then one episode and they are Grant Gustin , Danielle Panabaker , Carlos Valdes , Stephen Amell , David Ramsey , Tyler Hoechlin , Melissa Benoist , LaMonica Garrett , Elizabeth Tulloch and Jeremy Davies. I know that i've missed a certain name of this list but that's because I want to talk about her separately

In terms of the actors that i've listed it would be considered a cliche to say that there really good in this episode but since i've just reviewed Birds Of Prey and that had dreadful acting i'm going to say it anyway. The acting in this three part crossover was really good and while alot of that is due to the fact that these actors have been playing this characters for over five years now it's still impressive how these good actors continue to turn in solid performances every week.

Now alot has been made about the casting of Ruby Rose as Kate Kane aka Batwoman alot of what was said prior to the episode was mainly focused on the fact that even tho both the character and the actor being gay. People thought that Ruby was two gay whatever the hell that means and that just makes me think that the people making those kind of complaints are just willing to complain about anything. As for her acting I thought for the few scenes she was in she was alright nothing to special but also not that bad I would like to see a full series with her just to see what they would do with the character tho and this show commits the same sin that Birds Of Prey did by giving us a weak and out of character reason as to why Batman isn't there and again I have to ask why the heck couldn't he just be of screen like they did with Superman is the first season of Supergirl.

I've given this alot of thought but I have to wonder why the heck didn't they bring in the Legends for this crossover. Black Lightening I get because that films down in Atlanta so it would have been a huge ask to get any of the actors from that show up to Vancouver for two weeks but why not the Legends cast not only do they film in Vancouver but they also film in the exact same studio. I wouldn't have minded so much if they gave a story reason as to why the legends aren't there but nope they don't even get a mention.

If you've seen not only the crossover but also the above image then you know what I have to talk about. When Barry and Oliver first travel to Smallville they straight up play "Somebody Save Me" which was the theme song to Smallville and I laughed out loud when that song started playing because I knew that alot of Smallville fans would either be really happy that that song got played or they'd be really angry.

Humor seemed to the order of the day for this crossover since there was a lot of jokes in not only The Flash's episode but in the Arrow episode as well and I don't really think it was really needed. Don't get me wrong it's great that these crossovers have a lot of humor in them but in last years episode it made sense since they were meeting up for a wedding but here there meeting up to save the world so the jokes weren't always needed thankfully tho they got rid of most of the jokes in the Supergirl episode.

I can't be the only one that wants this but I really want to see to see a full series with Tyler Hoechlin as Superman the guy is just so freaking likable he is the Superman we need but tho the makers of this crossover clearly like destroying dreams because at the end of the Supergirl episode they had Clark announce he and Lois are leaving Earth to raise a baby. So thanks for destroying my dream of seeing him as Superman for a full twenty two episodes but it also means we don't get to see Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois and while she doesn't turn in a bad performance I just don't like her version of the character.

Overall this wasn't as good as last years crossover which I personally think is the best Arrowverse crossover so far but it's still worth watch plus they did something really freaking cool they told us straight up what the next crossover will be. The episode while fun in places is also one that's flawed in alot of places so it gets a 7 out of 10 from me
