Tiny Toons' Night Ghoulery Review

Ladies and gents with the announcement that Tiny Toon Adventures is getting a revival within the next for years. I thought that i'd take a look at one of the shows many episodes and well given that i'm writing this on halloween and Tiny Toon Adventures just so happened to produce a halloween special which for some reason didn't air in October and so here is my review of the shows only halloween special "Tiny Toons' Night Ghoulery" enjoy.

There is no plot to this episode with the episode instead taking on anthology approach with each segment being hosted by Babs Bunny. I have to admit that I kind of want to see what a Tiny Toon Adventures halloween special would be like if it had one single plot line but at the same taking an anthology approach seems oddly on brand for the show and because of the fact that this episode is taking an anthology approach it does mean that more Tiny Ton characters can appear and that does make the episode more fun to watch in my opinion.

Starring in the episode is Joe Alaskey as Plucky Duck , Tress MacNeille as Babs Bunny and John Kassir as Buster Bunny. Also starring in the episode is Don Messick as Hamton J. Pig and a TV Executive , Cree Summer as Elmyra Duff and Uhura , Maurice LaMarche as Dizzy Devil / The Brain and Gossamer , Gail Matthius as Shirley the Loon , Kath Soucie as Li'l Sneezer and Fifi La Fume , Danny Cooksey as Montana Max , Frank Welker as Furrball /Gogo Dodo /Byron Basset /Calamity Coyote/ Little Beeper and Gremlin , Ron Perlman as Mr. Scratch , Jim Cummings as Paddy /Villager and an Announcer , Jeff Bennett as Shamus / Pumpkin Guy and The World's Biggest Tiny Toon Fan and June Foray as Witch Hazel.

As for what I thought about the acting in this special it was alot better then what I remember it being and bare in mind i've seen this special a few times now. However on this most recent viewing of the special I found the acting to be really good with all of the actors putting in a good performance and for me it helps that alot of the actors have been playing these roles since the very start of the the Tiny Toon Adventures and so they know there characters very well and as for John Kassir who is taking over the role of Buster Bunny from Charlie Adler he does a passable job but he really doesn't have that many lines in this special and so I can't really judge his performance.

The animation for this special was handled by TMS Entertainment otherwise known as Tokyo Movie Shinsha. The animation I thought was really good which given how high the animation quality is for this show really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone , helping things in my opinion is the fact that the backgrounds look visually stunning as well as the fact that all of the characters get these really fluid movements which help give the characters alot of life.

I will say that doing a Halloween special with the character of Elmya is to me a really good choice since you can do a lot of things with that character and it would not only work but would be really funny. I'm not going to say what role they have in in this special but you'll just have to trust me when I say that it's not only fitting for her character but is in my opinion one of the characters most funniest roles.

In a rather odd move for a Halloween special this episode they didn't have this episode air in October which was the original plan instead that had the episode air in May. Which to me defeats the entire purpose of a Halloween and it makes me wonder why the choice was made to have the episode air in May rather then in October since we associate October with Halloween and so it would have made alot more sense to air the special in October rather then in May.

This special is forty four minuets and fifty five seconds long so let's round that up to forty five minuets which either way is still to short for this special. I say that because they have so many cartoons in this one special that only last a few minuets and so you can't really get into the story because by the time everything in the cartoon has been set up they have to end it as such I feel that the special as a whole should have been a bit longer maybe make it closer to an hour without commercials and each cartoon should have been longer as well.

Since I just watched The Nightmare Before Christmas a few days ago I was shocked that Tiny Toon Adventures spoofed Nightmare Before Christmas. I say that I was shocked because it has been a while since I last watched this special and so seeing it again it was like I was watching it for the first time but even so im surprised that Tim Burton didn't get on the phone to the Tiny Toon Adventures team and threaten to sue them since it's so obvious what it is there spoofing.

Now then boys and girls this is comedy and so that means that we have to talk about the jokes that are in this episode / special. Which me to the jokes were very hit and miss since for very joke that worked and every spoof that worked there be a joke and spoof that didn't work which is a shame because when this episode / special does tell a good joke then it is really funny and the same goes for what ever they spoof as well since whenever they do spoof something really well it can be funny but then there are times where I was left thinking "What The Hell Are They Spoofing" because whatever it was they were spoofing just wasn't that good or that funny.

Overall this was a really funny episode and it's one that I can see alot of people espically fans of Tiny Toon Adventures enjoying. That being said tho the episode / special does have some issues which do sadly keep this episode / special from being a perfect ten out of ten and sadly those issues have been covered in this review as such Tiny Toons' Night Ghoulery gets a 7.5 out of 10 from this Tiny Toon Adventures fan.

All and I do mean all of the images that I used in this review were gathered from the official Tiny Toon Adventures fandom wiki page. Since I only went to one website for all of the images that I used in this review I have no choice but to recommend that you guys use the official Tiny Toon Adventures fandom wiki page if you want to get images from either this special / episode or anything to do with Tiny Toon Adventures.
