Recovery Of An MMO Junkie Review

Anime fans you've seen me review alot of anime movies before but the one thing you've never seen me do is a review an anime series well as of right now that all changes as i proudly present my review of Recovery Of An MMO Junkie.

The plot of the series is Moriko Morioka is a 30-year-old single NEET woman. After dropping out from reality she has taken off in search for a fulfilling life and ended up in a net game or "netoge." In the netoge world she began her new life as a refreshing and handsome character named Hayashi. While starting out as a beginner a pretty character named Lily reached out to help her. Meanwhile in the real world awaits a shocking encounter with a good looking elite company employee a mysterious blue-eyed blonde. I have to say that i really enjoyed the whole story for the show and i never really knew where it was going ok i'll admit i guessed how somethings would play out in episode 1 but apart from that i had no clue where we end up and i liked that.

Now since i've only seen this dubbed i'm only judging the dub cast with that that said the dub cast does include the likes of Terri Doty , Aaron Dismuke , Natalie Hoover , Josh Grelle and Ian Sinclair. Overall i thought the acting was shockingly good and i say that because i had no clue at all what to expect from this series and some of the show more dramatic moments are helped more by the cast and director and writer for the show.

I have to admit that until the final episode i never got what the recovery aspect of the show was but i think i've got it now and to me at least that aspect is the fact that Morioka (the female lead) is trying to move forward in her life and she's trying to get over her self esteem issues but then again i could be wrong completely and if i am please do feel free to tell me so in the comments below.

The actual animation was done by Signal. MD and i have the animation for me at least was a bit of a let down yes it's not movie quality but it's barely TV quality that's not to say things don't look nice and that there isn't alot of effort put into it but there's a lot of scenes in the scenes which just look off and they could have done with another drawing to help make the scene look better.

Another thing i actually found refreshing was the fact that even tho this has the comedy label it's not an out and out comedy in fact it plays up alot more of the dramatic aspects then it does the comedic ones yes there are a few funny moments here and there but they aren't the focus of the show it's characters are and that's where the good acting comes into play.

I do have to say tho that after watching all ten episodes i can totally see where they could go if the show produces a second season and it would make sense given how the show ends weather or not it would be the right fit for the characters tho i'm not to sure.

Despite having an the name MMO in it's title the show only spends i'd say around 50% of it's total time in an actual game with the rest of the time being spent in the real world and that's great if you don't like anime set inside a game which honestly at this point there's way to many of those but if your like and you don't mind those shows then you'll be a little disappointed as we never really get to know the world where the game is set and that's a shame because it looks like a visually interesting world.

Overall i'd say if you like either romance , slice of life or comedy anime then you might like this show as you guess from this review i really liked the show and yes i know there's technically an episode 11 but it was released as an OVA so in my mind that doesn't count so i give Recovery Of An MMO Junkie a solid 7.5 out of 10.
