House Of The Dragon "The Treasons At Tumbleton" SPOILER FILLED Review

After last seasons shall we say bumpy finale no one would have expected the third season to bounce back and not only did it bounce back it actually the second season all together. With the final of season three having been aired you all knew that I have to check it out the very chance that I got and well this is an episode that I have a feeling people are going to love and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the episode that is alot more better then season 2 finale with the episode in question being called simply just "The Treasons At Tumbleton" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when Rhaenyra learns that Aegon is not only alive but so is Sunfyre she sets down a dark path which creates more enemies then friends while Daemon and his men finally launch there attack. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. This episodes plot is much like alot of the things in this episode so much more better the the plot of the last season finale with this episodes plot being something that does feel like a massive pay off to the whole the season. Whilst yes granted this episodes plot can be seen as being a bit weak in some areas as the episode doesn't really explain alot of things in it's plot when the plot does get something right it really does get it right and while it doesn't top any of the earlier Game Of Thrones plots it doesn't really need to it just needs to do it's own unique thing and that's exactly what we get in this episode with the plot being about as good as it was ever going to be and given the fact the season 2 finale was so bad that wouldn't have been a high bar to reach and yet this episode just on it's plot alone sails past it easily and while yes there are somethings in the plot that people won't agree with irregardless of if they've read Fire And Blood or not as this episodes plot doe make for some good television in it's own right as this is a plot that will either in a positive or negative way get people talking with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. The fact that we have good acting in this episode isn't really all that surprising as there s always some really good acting in all of this shows episode and yet here in this episode it did feel like the the episodes actors where kind of upping there game a little bit acting as not only do we get the usual good acting from all of the episodes main characters but also the characters that we just met in this season turn in some really good performances. With the best actors in this entire being both Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen and Emma D'Arcy as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen as both of them have great scenes both together and apart where they can really show off there acting skills with Matt showing of that he can the action man type of actor and Emma showing of that she can do these really dramatic scenes and make you believe in them and heck they were both so good in the episode that it really was hard to put one over the other as the episodes best actor as they were both equally as good and equally as engaging to watch in the episode with Matt bringing his usual charm to Daemon and Emma giving of more manic energy in her performance as Rhaenyra both of which are things that really do shine through there final performances. With the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the CGI for this episode is PixStone Images , Pixomondo , Outpost VFX , RVX , Red Visual Effects , Rodeo FX , The Third Floor London and Viridian FX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Much like with the episodes acting it's not really all that surprising that we got some really good CGI in this episode as all of this shows episodes have given us some really good effects and while there really isn't any cool shot that shows of the VFX like there was in last weeks episode we do still get some really impressive looking effects shots in this episode. With the episode making great use of digital doubles for alot of it's crowd scenes which is something that does blend in really well with what was filmed practically with there actually being alot more practical effects then there are CGI effects which was quite surprising to see and yet it is something that does make the episodes VFX blend in all the more as now the makers of this episode had something there on set to blend the visual effects into as while something like the dragons will always be CGI how they do the fire isn't always done inside of a computer as for this episode they used a flamethrower and added the dragon in after the fact and that one little thing is something that does make the effects on the dragons all the more better as now when it comes to lighting the dragon can be lit as if it was actually there on the day of filming as there is a light source that can help do it in this case it's the light coming off of the dragon's fire it's a simple thing and yet it's something that alot of show and film makers fail to do and yet as this episode proves it does help to make the episodes effects be all the more better because of it.

This episode is easily better then the season 2 finale as unlike that episode which was never intended to be the season 2 finale this episode was and may god can you tell the difference right away. As this episode does feel like a big pay off to something that the season was building towards as all throughout the season we kept on getting told about and kept on visiting Tumbleton and seeing how insane Ormund Hightower has become with him willing to risk the lifes over every one including the towns children all so he can put someone on the Iron Throne and rule in the shadows this is something that does make us come to hate him as a character and it's something that the season 2 finale was missing as there was no one to truly hate in that episode as the episode felt like the calm before the storm episode where everything is fine. Where as in this episode it is very firmly the story is so here so move out of the way or it's going to kill you that's the type of episode that this was and that's the type of episode that it truly needed it needed to hell for the character in Tumbleton and we needed those characters to feel unsafe as that will make it all the more satisfying not only for those that don't make it out of the episode alive and well but also for those that do and thankfully this was something that was corrected this time around as if it wasn't and we got a finale like we got in season 2 then the show would loose alot of good faith that it spent weeks trying to get and yet due to the fact that it actually gave us a finale and not just the tease of one it meant that the show could deliver on the things that we were promised at the start of the season.

There shocking isn't alot of Alicent in this episode with the character only appearing in a non speaking role at the end of the episode. This was kind of weird note to end the season on for her character as she is main character in the show and yet she's given literally nothing to do in the episode this is something that would have been fine if this was the big episode 9 of the show as then you could argue that she's going to be showing more up in the next episode but this is meant to be the series finale and whilst there was no way for the makers of this episode to fit her into the episode in a meaningful way they still could have had have a small scene with Aemond just to resolve there plot together for this season but at the same time tho given that Aemond ends up with Aegon again one does have to wonder if Alicent is going to be playing a bigger role in season 4. Unlike Alicent Rhaenyra does get alot to do in this episode as she basically starts to become more and more unhinged like Daenerys was at the end of Game Of Thrones only here it is something that is being handled alot more better due to the fact that it was something that's been built up all throughout the season starting with the loss of her son Jace as for every minor victory that Rhaenyra had this season she suffered a minor loss with those losses all coming together when she finds out that Aegon is not only still alive but so is his dragon , added in with the fact that we've seen betraying her friends and closest allies all throughout the season it does make her turn into being more of a villain feel more natural whereas with Daenerys it was something that quite literally happend in one episode and heck even Rhaenyra had a similar scene that Daenerys had in the finale of Game Of Thrones with characters giving a speech that could both be seen as being inspiring but also evil and twisted.

It wouldn't be a good finale episode without a bunch of characters dying and that is something that we got in this episode with the most shocking death coming right at the end of the episode as we find out that Helaena has died by jumping from her room in The Red Keep what makes this all the more shocking is the fact that we never see her jump the episode shows her walking up to her window and then it cuts to something else before later showing us the after math which was a masterful way to do that death as at first we get the cliff hanging scene of does she she jump or not and then we get the shock of finding out that she she did infact jump and given the fact that she was basically a prisoner in her own home was something that does make alot of sense. This is something that does tie into the fact that Rhaenyra is becoming more and more insane on some basic level as all throughout the season we have seen her trying to manipulate Helaena in someway shape of form with the only one who was able to get her see straight being Alicent and now that Alicent is no longer in the castle it did mean that Rhaenyra wasn't able to get Helaena to do what she wanted which in this case was something small like getting her to eat something and due to the fact that the Rhaenyra herself isn't thinking right instead of trying to reason with her like she would have done at the start of the season she gets her guards to force feed her and while that isn't the thing that makes her wants to kill herself as that is the fact that Rhaenyra herself outright says that Helaena will always be a prisoner in the castle it is something that did contribute to it and because of that we did get a pretty shocking death out of it when it would have been super easy for the makers of this episode to just have this death be and mean nothing.

Now then this episode had / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and ten minuets and six seconds. Which to be fair for a House Of The Dragon finale is the running time that you'd want the episode to have as the episode does have so many things to wrap up from this season that to do so in a smaller amount of time would do a huge disservice to not only the episode on it's but the season as a whole as it would mean that something would have to fall through the cracks and be forgotten about inorder for the episode to meet that running time in the first place yet due to the fact that the makers of this episode clearly realized that they made a mistake last season with that finale episode it felt like that they went over board to fix that with this seasons finale and apart of that does include having a longer running time with the episode itself having more then enough plot there to cover this amount of running time in the first place. However tho the episode doesn't really use it's running time all that wisely due to the fact that the episode doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot which in all fairness it kind off didn't need to do as it could be argued that te rest of the season was spent adding things to this episodes plot which would make it more developed in the first place but it still would have been nice if sometime was spent on developing the plot of this episode with it being made clear as day that the makers of this episode cared more about killing off characters then they did about giving u a well developed plot. The same thing is also true for the episodes character development as while the episode didn't need to develop it's characters due to alot of them getting there development in previous episodes it still would have been nice if some of the character got some kind of development even if it was something small with it being make clear as day that the makers of this episode are more focused n giving scenes with a drunk Ulf then there were in giving it's characters development but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With a good chunk of the episode just being spent of The Battle Of Tumbleton which in all fairness was something that was gong to always be the case as its the very thing that the season had been building towards in the first place and therefor it does make sense for a large portion of the episode to be focused there but it still would have been nice if we got an action scene or two in another location just to keep things interesting. With the best action scene in the whole entire episode of course being the whole Battle Of Tumbleton itself due to the fact that you really can't just pick out one moment or one segment from this battle and all it best bit of it as the battle itself was just so awsome to see on screen as we do get to see alot of soldiers both Hightower and Targaryen and men from the north all fighting it out and it is something that does create for an interesting battle scene as while the Targaryen men and the men of the north are fighting on the same side it doesn't mean that any of them will make it out alive with even Daemon getting into a hand to hand fight with someone and almost getting killed if the makers of the show are willing to do that to main character and make us believe that they could kill him off then alot of the side characters don't stand a chance with the rest of the episodes action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if you haven't watched this episode before now go and watch it as it is just that good of an episode that does make you want to watch season 4 just to see what happens next and while we do have another two years to wait before the final season what be sure is that this episode is alot more better then the season 2 finale was in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well a all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very season really does earn itself a grand old of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 with the episode earning an 8 out of 10 from me.

House Of The Dragon "Salt And Sea, Fire And Blood" SPOILER FILLED Review

Finally after two long years of waiting the show that brought good will back to Game Of Thrones and then lost a good deal of it with it's season  2 finale is now back for season 3. This is a show that I and many others have been eagerly awaiting for and despite the fact that the season 2 finale was a bad episode just based off of this episode alone there does look to be some small promise still left in the show and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the episode that gives us a different theme song for the first time in years with the episode in question being called simply just "Salt And Sea, Fire And Blood" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is war comes ever closer to Westeros and Corlys Velaryon and his men run into trouble in the sea one which results in a deadly confrontation. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. To put it bluntly this episodes plot is alot more better then the plot of the previous which for better or for worse could be seen as being both a good and bad thing it's a bad thing in that this episode plot does feel alot more like the plot of a series finale and not a series premiere as the episode doesn't really set up any plot lines for the forth coming season of the show. Yet it's also a good thing as it does mean that the season gets the chance to start out with a bang and give us a rally good plot that will have people talking for the next week or so be it for good or bad reasons which is something with the episodes plot even doing something that alot of first episodes have forgotten to do and that's make you want to watch the next episode as the plot of this episode does have alot of promise and it does give you all of the things that you want to see in the first episode for a Game Of Thrones show but at the same time tho it was hard to work out just what the plot of this episode was meant to be alot of the time as the episode doesn't really focus on its main plot with them instead focusing on other things which is something that does make the plot of this episode feel alot more like an after thought when it should have been something that was the only thought but to be fair tho this is the more stronger plot that the makers of this episode could have had to start out on with the plot of this episode being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. This is something that really isn't all that surprising as the acting in tis show has always been top notch even in the shows more weaker episodes with the acting in this episode following suit by being really good as all of the episodes actors do bring there A game even those that are only in this episode do bring some really good performances to the episode which is something that does help to make this episode all the more better because of it. With the best actor in this episode is Phoebe Campbell as Lady Rhaena Targaryen as she does get alot to do in this episode and wile alot of her stuff is mainly in quick scenes when she does appear in the episode she does leave a lasting impact on you long after her scenes have finished and while it would have been super easy to say that someone like Matt Smith is the best actor in the episode it has to be Phoebe Campbell due to the fact that we do get to spend alot of time with her which is something that does give somewhat of a chance to show off just what it is that she can do as an actor with her going from scared to joyful and back to scared again all throughout the episode with this being something that does not only help her performance in the episode but it also shines through in her performance. With the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will com out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Again much like the episodes acting the fact that this episode does have some really good CGI in it isn't something that's all the surprising for the fact that this show has always had some really good looking CGI in it. While tho the dragons in the episode do look good there are scenes where the characters do seem to be fully replaced by a digital double and they do stand out a mile as they do look really bad with the makers of this episode not really giving the effects teams enough time to create convincing looking digital doubles of course tho this is something that could be proven to be false but as the the behind the scenes featurettes haven't been released in full yet and won't be until the DVD and Blu-Ray of this season comes out, there are also times where the episode does go fully animated when it really didn't need to with those effects again not looking bad but they also aren't that good either but hen this episode does create some really good looking effects like all of the scenes at sea for example then we do get something that does look really good but it's those smaller thins that do hold the episodes effects back as it does appear as if the makers of this episode put alot of focus on the more bigger an important scenes that the smaller scenes do end up falling through the cracks.

In what was a really shocking move we actually get quite alot of character deaths in this opening episode with Lord Jason Lannister , Admiral Sharako Lohar , Vermax and Prince Jacaerys Velaryon all dying in the episode. This was something that will catch alot of people off guard as you don' usually expect character deaths in the first episode of a new season rather they are something that you expect to happen nearer the end of the season as that's when they will have the most impact and while there is nothing wrong with having them here in the first episode it does mean that for example Sharako can't leave that much of an impact as she was only introduced in the previous episode with her dying in this episode before she has the chance to do anything that's really actually important to the main plot of the show. However tho all of the deaths in this episode are really well done with them all taking place during this big sea battle over the course of the middle to the end of the episode with all of them getting killed of in really fun and gory ways which is something that is oddly befitting for this show and while more time with Sharako would have been nice as she did seem like a fun and cool character having her be killed of with some the more established characters in the show does now make us the audience wonder which one of the main characters can now die as while Jacaerys and Jason aren't main characters by any stretch of the imagination they are close enough to being main characters that them dying does make you go that any of the main characters can now die with Jacaerys having a pretty cool death as after his dragon is shot out of the sky with him on it he crash lands in the sea and has to struggle to get himself free from Vermax and yet when he does and he does reach the surface he gets shot several times in several parts of the body with arrows which was a really shocking way to end the episode.

In what was a shocking move this episode does introduce a new version of the Game Of Thrones theme song. With this new version still being as good as the original one was but it now sounds oddly more classical with a slight rock twist to it which is something that would have been fine if this was a new show as then it would help to set the show apart from Game Of Thrones but is this the shows third season and it's ending next season therefor changing the theme song now even if it is just a new recording of it doesn't make all that much sense but to it's credit tho it does go well with the seasons new intro which now does keep alot of themes from last seasons intro but it's now been made alot more darker with alot more bloodier images added to it. In what might be another shocking turn of events Daemon doesn't actually get to do all that much in this episode with him feeling more like a side character even tho Matt Smith is quite literally the first actor listed at the start of the episode with him really only appearing in the one scene very early on in the episode where he finds some new recruits in the form of Stark soldiers to help him and Rhaenyra win the war and that's really it and that is something that des seem like a waste for his character as his character is at it's best when he's there with Rhaenyra and not off on his own doing his own thing as we know just how powerful of a fighter that he is but what we want to see from him is what it is that makes him tick and we want to see more scenes of him trying to outwit his opponent by talking to them and not sticking them with the pointy end as that is something that would get old rather quickly and while this is only the first episode of the season and while he is acting on his orders from the previous episode we should be seeing more of Daemon and not less of him given what this show is building towards in season 4 as now is the time that the makers of this show should be getting us to really like all of the characters even the ones that are the bad guys as then when we do reach that final episode of next season it will be all the more impactful.

To the episodes credit we do get to see that Alicent is actually scared of her son as we see her planning to give Rhaenyra the throne and when that doesn't go the way she planned we see her looking afraid of Aemond Targaryen as even she knows that he is close to going to insane. This was such a good thig to have in the episode as it does let us the audience know that there is danger even in one of the places that one of the main characters is meant to be the safest with the danger coming from the one person who she wouldn't expect to harm her should he do so and while this is something that would have worked just as well being a little bit later on in this oddly short season it works just as well here as it does mean that us the audience get to see Aemond Targaryen possibly fall even more into insanity then he already has done before. While Alicent does get a little bit more screen time then Daemon got in this episode she doesn't have much of an impact on the episode as a whole as alot of her scenes involve her sneaking around Aemond Targaryen and while the theme of sons and mothers is something that does run through this episode as we see Jacaerys go against his mother and have her locked up in her room when she says that she's going to help Corlys in his fight against Sharako and her men which granted with the added benefit of hindsight was the right thing to do otherwise it would have meant that she would have died and not him and it now also means that Rhaenyra is now going to be less likely to end the war should she find out that another one of her sons has died in her name with this being something that is going to make episode 2 alot more interesting to watch as now we know that she is going to be on the war path and given the fact that her side does have alot of dragons it does mean that no one is safe.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and five minuets and thirty six seconds. This is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this how with this episode really needing that amount of time as the episode does have alot of characters to not only catch up no but also help to set up there arcs for the season and it wouldn't be able to do that and still tell a good enough plot with a smaller running time and while this is the kind of running time that you would expect a season finale to have it works just as well for this episode due to the fact that it does allow for us the audience to truly live and breathe in this world that little bit longer with the episode having more then enough plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place. Yet even with this in mind the episode still doesn't use its running time all that wisely as the episode doesn't take the time to fully develop its plot which is something that would have been passable if this was episode nine of season two as then you could argue that the previous episode did all of the set up that was needed but this is meant to be the start of a new season and therefor the episode really can't be acting like its the final episode of the season as it has to spend time on developing things like the plot as this episode very well could be used to set up things that are important to the rest of the season but as the makers of this episode are far more interested in showing us alot of pointless with Lady Rhaena Targaryen and her new dragon Sheepstealer the plot of this episode is left feeling more like an afterthought. This is also true for the episodes character development as well although here you very well could make the case that alot of the episodes characters have the previous seasons to get there character development and therefor they don't need to get it here which us something that is a fair enough case to make but then you get to characters like Sharako who only appeared in one other episode before this one and yet here she gets no character development with nothing being added to her character when the makers of this episode should have done exactly that to make us feel something for her when she dies but it does seem like the makers of this episode were more focused on spending ALOT of time on the Battle Of The Gullet then they were in giving any of the characters any form of character development but I really will admit hat this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. The very fact that this episode even has an action scene in it right away makes it alot more better then the season two finale but even so alot of the time this episode does cut away from the action only to cut back to it when alot of the stuff that we actually want to see has already happened like for example the episode cuts to the end of a war with Daemon and his soldiers and yet that is something that we would have wanted to see as it would have made for a really cool action and yet tho when the episode does allow us to actually see an action we do get something really special. With the best action scene in the whole entire episode being the Battle Of the Gullet as we get to see these two ships just trying to outwit each other and making moves that they know the other will follow in the hopes that it will lead them to there doom but then things get better when both Baela and Jacaerys join the battle on dragons and burn down alot of the attacking fleet but then just when you think that things can't any more dramatic Sharako and her men pull out a device that they use to help to injure the dragons something which is made all the more important when Rhaena and Sheepstealer come into play as Sheepstealer gets startled and starts attacking anyone friend or foe all the while down below Sharako and her men have boarded the queen who ever was and start attacking Corlys and his crew the fight only ending when both Sharako and Jacaerys are killed in action with the rest of the episodes action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst this episode is a good episode and is a solid way to start of the new season of the show it does feel very much like that this episode would have been better served being as episode none of season 2 rather then episode 1 of season 3 and with this season also being eight episodes it does make you wonder if this season will end on the same lackluster note as the previous season did but this episode is still a great start to the new season in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad thigs that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of an 8 out of 10 from me.

House Of The Dragon "The Queen Who Ever Was" Review

House Of The Dragon a show that alot of us might have forgotten about and rightfully so as it has been a few years since the end of season 2. Is now just a few short days away from it's third season premiere and well I wanted to catch myself up with the story and I therefor thought that doing a review of the shows second season would be a great way to do that and to get people excited for the new episodes and so then join me as I review the episode that despite this being an action show has no action in it with the episode in question being called simply just "The Queen Who Ever Was" enjoy.

The plot of the episode with the threat of war looming Queen Rhaenyra has to settle things with Prince Daemon before getting an offer from Queen Alicent. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Whilst this episodes plot isn't the strongest that it could have been it's also not that bad either as there is an attempt to still craft a good story in here but due to the fact that this episode was forced into being the second season finale when HBO cut the episode order down by two episodes it is somewhat understandable that the plot of this episode is as messy as it is. With the episodes plot trying to wrap up all of the seasons plot lines whilst still very much trying to be it's own thing and set up the third season of the show and while HBO aren't fully to blame as they didn't put pen to paper and write the episode they also didn't do the episode any favors either, with the episodes plot not really feeling like a final episode as there are no stakes in the episode rather it feels like the plot that you would have before the big episode nine episode of previous seasons and if this episode had remained in it's original place in the running order then the plot might have been alot more better but due to it being forced into being the seasons finale episode the episodes plot does come across as being rather lackluster when compared to even the first seasons finale episode with the plot of this episode not really being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With the acting in the episode actually being one of the few things that the episode actually got alot of praise and rightfully so as all of this episodes actors really do bring there A game in this episode with the episode having what might be be the best acting in House Of The Dragon as a whole with it being made clear as day that all of this episodes actors are not only really comfortable in their roles but also know there characters inside and out with that being something that does inform the choices that they all make as actors. With the best actor in the whole entire episode being Emma D'Arcy as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen as she ad Olivia Cooke get alot of the best scenes in the whole entire episode and while they both act there socks off in this episode Emma is just that tiny bit better due to the fact that you do see the pain that she carries with her from the end of the last season and you see the betrayal that she might have been feeling in this episode with both of those things really shining through in her final performance. With the acting that's in this episode not really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so bad as it gives none of this episodes actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what to is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode. 

Doing the CGI for this episode is PixStone Images , Pixomondo , Outpost VFX , RVX , Red Visual Effects , Rodeo FX , The Third Floor London and Viridian FX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. This is something that is understandable as this show has always had some really good looking CGI in it and to be fair to the episode the episodes CGI is one of the more better things that are in the episode but having good CGI doesn't make for a good episode. To the episodes credit it does have alot of hidden CGI in it as while we all know that the dragons are going to be CGI but what we didn't know was that the water and the surrounding scenery that characters cross at the end of the episode is also fully CGI as is alot of the interiors at Castle Harrenhal and while those are thing that could be seen as going a bit over the top with the CGI with the makers of this episode clearly using the thinking that they can use CGI and so there just going to use it everywhere but again to be fair alot of those CGI elements are hidden really well with them only being revealed as being computer generated in the episodes behind the scenes featurette as they do blend into the episode really well, yet at the same time tho with the episode having as many effects as it does have it does make the episode feel alot less like a live action show and more like a very expensive cartoon show as alot of the shots in which they use CGI in in this episode are shots that you could have done using practical effects and they would have looked better due to the fact that practical effects do age alot more slowly then what CGI effects do.

Unlike with the latter seasons of Game Of Thrones where you got the sense that the characters are now all moving into there final positions. Here in this episode you don't really get that feeling and while this very well could be because of the fact that this episode was never intended to be the final episode of season two and therefor the makers of this episode really didn't have to set the characters moving into there final positions but given the fact that this change in the episode order happened early enough in the seasons production for them to rewrite the season as a whole then the makers of this episode very well could have made some effort to help to get the characters into what might be there final positions as that would show that they are thinking ahead. Granted they might not have planned for the final two seasons at the time that this episode was being made either which is something that would have been fair enough but with the added benefit of hindsight it does make you wonder why the characters aren't being positioned to be in there final places like they were in the latter seasons of Game Of Thrones, just to make it more clear what I mean by that when you look back at the final episode of Game Of Thrones season 6 they do set up Sansa as someone who could possibly be queen if she wanted something which we do see her get just not in the way that we expected and we do see the characters start to reach the end of there journeys as characters and yet in this episode you don't get the feeling that this show is wrapping up rather you get the feeling that this is just the next episode of the show and that's not something that you want to get when your show is now officially halfway done. Whilst this isn't something that effects the episode in either a negative or a positive way it is something that does make you wonder just how far ahead that the makers of this episode are thinking as they clearly thought as far ahead as season 3 as they do start to tease that next season towards the end of this episode but that's really as far as they've thought of.

One of the many things that this episode did rightfully get alot of hate for when it first came was the fact that for an action show there no action in this episode and this is meant to be the final episode of the season which is where you expect there to be alot of really good action in it. Yet the makers of the episode don't give us any action outside of one comedy fight scene and that's it and even then that fight scene doesn't play a part in the plot but there is a good chance that given who it introduces that it could play a part in the third season of the show, this is something that you don't want to be the case in an action show as for the final episode of the show the audience is expecting alot of really cool action scenes to happen and when you do give us any and instead give us an episode that does feel really weak then there is something fundamentally wrong with the episode. This could be due to the fact that the episode very much does feel like a calm before the storm episode which is something that would have been fine if that was always the plan for this episode back when the season had ten episodes as then episodes nine and ten could have been filled to the brim with the action that we've come to expect from this show and this episode would have been just a bad episode lost in a sea of good ones but the second that it was decided that this episode was going to be the final episode of the season then there should have been some action put into the episode as now this episode doesn't have the luxury of being the calm before the storm episode now it has to be the storm and that does mean having these really jaw dropping action scenes that will leave us the audience really wanting to see more but for one reason or another the makers of this show deciding to ditch the action aspect of the show all together and instead give alot more focus to it's drama aspect to the point where you might as well as call this show a drama show.

One of the things that Game Of Thrones loved to do was give us a speech where someone declared who they were helping. With this episode being no different as after getting a vision about things that will happen which does include a cameo from Imogen Ruby Little as Daenerys Targaryen Prince Daemon Targaryen does decide that he wants to remain at Queen Rhaenyra's side with him giving her a speech about how he will always fight for her and how it is her destiny to reclaim the throne but its what she says towards the end of the speech that is interesting as she says that if he goes off with his army without her knowing about it again then it will be the last thing that he does this is something that does make you wonder if she's truly sane or if she doesn't fully trust Daemon. As its not something that would have been said if she did fully trust him and she was perfectly sane and given the fact that she started a war due to the fact that her son was killed off by the King it does make sense that she would go a little mad and heck that is also something that happens to alot of Targaryens therefor it would make sense for it also happen to Rhaenyra on the ither hand it could be that she doesn't fully trust Daemon which given that he left her at the start of this season without telling her and took his army with him is something that she would be fully justified in doing but here's hoping that the show actually doesn't resolve this until the final season as it is something that could make for a great twist with it being something that will make you wonder what's actually going on with these two characters, the speech it self was fairly well done its not the best speech that this franchise has ever done as that honor goes to the court speech in season 4 of Game Of Thrones but it is one that does get the blood pumping with it mainly being Daemon telling these dragon riders and soldiers that yeah alot of you will die but will be for what they believe to be a noble cause.

Now then this episode has / had an exactly grand total running time of exactly one hour and nine minuets and six seconds. Which to be fair to this episode is a perfectly solid running time for the episode to have and it is one that you do expect a series finale for this show to have as well and yet the episode still doesn't feel like it's a series finale this is despite the fact that the episode has the running time of a series finale as it does just feel like an average episode of the show due to the fact that the episode really didn't need to be as long as it is as the episode doesn't wrap up alot of the seasons plot lines and it could tell it's plot in the show typical fifty to one hour time frame and still not loose anything that's actually important to te plot of this episode with the episode having more then enough plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place. The episode itself doesn't really use its running time all that wisely either as the episode doesn't take the time to fully develop its plot which in all fairness is something that it didn't really need to do as this episode is meant to be wrapping up plot lines and therefor it didn't need to add anything to them but it still would have helped the episode if the makers of this episode did take the time to fully develop this episodes plot as that would made it look like that there was more thought and effort put into this episodes that what there clearly was with the episode being more focused on teasing season3 then it is in giving us a well thought out plot. The episode also doesn't take the time to fully develop its characters either which is something that again it didn't really need to do as you cold make the case that all of the characters have several other episodes to get there character development but it still would have been nice to see them get some form of character development in this episode as this episode is meant to be ending the seasons plot lines there it would have made sense for the makers of this episode to give some of the characters some form of character development but the makers of this episode were more focused on giving us cameos from Game Of Thrones characters which does mean that none of this episodes character get any form of character development but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a drama that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual drama that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual drama that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Whilst the episode does have some really good drama in it that's also the issue as this isn't and never was a drama franchise it was always an action franchise and while yes there was bits of drama added in they never the main focus of a series finale the action and therefor it makes no sense for this episode to focus more on the drama as good as it is and ditch action all for no good reason. With the best bit of drama in the whole episode being the entire final scene between Alicent and Rhaenyra as Alicent does outright say that she will give the Rhaenyra the throne if she stops the war as she doesn't want to loose anyone the way that Rhaenyra has done with this being something that does make Rhaenyra quite angry at first as of course she wants Alicent to feel the pain that she's felt all season long and yet she's asking her to stop the war for pretty much no reason, with the thing that makes this scene work is not only is it the best written and acted scene in the whole episode but when you break it down it's a scene about two former best friends trying to get back on the same page and while time will indeed tell if it works or not the fact that they are making an attempt to be as close as they were back in season one of this show does show us the audience that there is still some amount of kindness left in both of them towards each other with the rest of the episodes drama being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while it is hard to say on if this is the weakest finale of the franchises history as that would mean counting the show finale for Game Of Thrones if we are talking just House Of The Dragon only then yeah this finale is the weakest one thus far as the plot isn't that good and there's alot more of a focus on drama then this on action but with that being said the ending drama scene is really good and it does do a good job of getting you ready for season 3 of this show as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that re in this very episode in this very revie and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

House Of The Dragon "The Red Dragon And The Gold" Review

It's been a good while since anything from either House Of The Dragon or Game Of Thrones was last covered on this blog and well then as I got the season 2 box set of House Of The Dragon for Christmas. It only seemed right that I review and episode from that particular season and so then join me as I review the episode that sees a one character leave the show and one SUPER of an actress return in a cameo role with the episode in question being called simply just "The Red Dragon And The Gold" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when Rhaenyra suddenly leaves without warning it's up to Rhaenys to make sure that all out war doesn't break out. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us inn this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as this episodes plot did a good job of building up the tension from the sides of both Queen Rhaenyra and Queen Alicent whilst also showing that both sides have people in there courts that are willing to do anything for there own ends and while this episodes plot might not be up there interms of quality if you were to also include episodes of Game Of Thrones if you were to just include this season of the show where the plots were very mixed at best then this episode at the very least from a plot point of view is a really good and solid story and one that fans of both shows should get some level of enjoyment out of as it has all of the thins that a good plot from both shows really should gave with some decent writing to back all of that up as well as this episode is a really well written episode and is good example of this show at it's best with the plot of this every episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Which at this stage really shouldn't be all that surprising as not only did this episode get alot of praise for it's acting more specifically for Eve Best , Matt Smith and Tom Glynn-Carney but the actin on this show as whole is really good with all of this shows episodes this one included having some really good acting in them and all of that is due to two things the first one being the fact that all of this episodes actors are really good actors in there own right and the second of which being that alot of the scripts including for the bad episodes are all really well written and as such it's not really all that surprising that this show and this episode has some really good acting in it as it does have so much going for it as well as having some of the best actors working on it today with the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that al this episodes actors really have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a  good performance really will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the CGI for this episode is PixStone Images , Pixomondo , Incessant Rain Studios , MPC Episodic , Outpost VFX , RVX , Red Visual Effects , Rodeo FX , The Third Floor London and Viridian FX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then  in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good and was more then up there with the quality or the CGI from not only this shows other episodes but also episodes from Game Of Thrones as well and while yes there are some dodgy looking dragon effects in this episode the overall quality of this episodes CGI effects were really good with there being alot more good looking effects then there were bad ones and part of what makes this episodes CGI so good is the fact that it actually looked like the dragons where there on set as the effects teams add in these small little details both in and around the CGI characters that make them feel more real and that is something that alot of movies let alone TV shows don't really do and because of that there effects look like that they weren't there on the day of filming and when you add in the fact that they use practical elements as well it really does help to sell you on the fact that your watching a computer generated dragon flying around on screen in this episode.

This is also the episode that has one of the shows dream sequences as while yes Dany had one in season two of Game Of Thrones House Of The Dragon really didn't have any up until this episode. With this episode making a great use of the concept as it shows just how mad that Prince Daemon Targaryen is very slowly going as he's used to going out and fighting battles every couple of weeks and yet now here's forced to sit still and basically do nothing and seeing him try to do that whilst also trying to win supporters for his wife does make for some interesting scenes as we the audience know that at some point he will snap and just seeing how he could possibly get to that point whilst being taunted by a young Rhaenyra Targaryen does make his scenes interesting to see even more so when you take into account that we see him talking to alot of people there at Harranhal as well and through that we get to see how they are feeling about this war for the throne something that Game Of Thrones never really took the time to do which wasn't really there fault as they were adapting full fledged novel and this show isn't doing that it dos make you wonder what innocent people thought about certain events that were happening in Game Of Thrones and yet even so those scenes with Daemon whilst they are some of the most interesting scenes in the episode they don't really detract from the rest of the episode either rather they add to the plot of the episode and to the plot of this particular season as well all of which make these scenes more interesting to watch.

One of the least interesting aspects in this episode was the arguments between Prince Aegon and Prince Aemond. As despite both Tom Glynn-Carney and Ewan Mitchell putting in some really good performances n those scenes together the characters as a whole just aren't that interesting and the scenes just aren't that good to watch as they feel more like an after thought in what is already a really overstuffed episode which means that when the episode does keep on cutting back to them it is hard to remember what there plot is and what it is that there trying to do as it does come across as the makers of this show only giving them something to do not because it's important to the actual plot of the episode but because they felt like that they had to do and while on paper there scenes could have worked they wold have worked better if they where in a less crowded episode as then they could be given the time that they really did need to breathe and become more memorable because of it where as there's so much already going on in this episode it does have the added impact of making there scenes feel like a chore to sit through even tho they are all really written and well acted but with an episode that has as much going on in it as this episode does then then this episode either should have been alot longer as there scenes in this episode do tie into the cliffhanger ending of this episode or the episode as a whole should have been rewritten not only to make the episode feel less overstuffed but to also remove those scenes as well.

While Game Of Thrones also brought us some very tragic deaths that is something that did also continue onwards with not only this show but this episode as well. As this is the episode that sees the death of Rhaenys Targaryen with her death being one that was quite shocking as it quite literally came out of nowhere which is good as it made it all the more impactful and when you add in the fact that that whole battle scene was really well written and her death scene was really acted with her being stuck to her dragon as it had it's neck crushed it makes her death all of the more impactful as Rhaenys knows that there's nothing that she could do and you see it in her eyes that she's fully accepted the fact that she's going to die which is just one small example of how good of a character that sh really was as while Rhaenyra Targaryen would act impulsively more often then not making a very rash decision Rhaenys of the other hand would think things through and talk things through with people before reaching what she might consider to be the best choice to make for all involved and while that might not have made a good Queen it is something that could have made her a good leader as a leader should take the thoughts and opinions of everyone involved instead of acting rashly as that only results in the kind of chaos that we saw in this episode and because of that way of thinking it means that Rhaenys ended up getting killed of when she might have otherwise survived the war and lived a long and hopefully happy life.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly fifty five minuets and twenty eight seconds. Which was a really solid running time for this episode to have as when you boil this episode down to it's bare essentials then this episode really does have the absolutely right mount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time tho this episode does also have a really short running time as well as there is so much going on in this episode plot wise that doesn't get alot of screen time and therefor would have worked better if the episode did have either a longer running time or was placed within another episode as either way it would mean that all of the plots that this episode has to juggle would have been given alot more time to breath Game Of Thrones for all of it's faults in it's final season at least knew to keep episodes focused on one maybe two or three central plots and keep the rest for other episodes where as here due to this being the fourth episode of this season it has so many plots to juggle and while all of the Matt Smith scenes are really good they don't add anything to the plot of this episode with the same thing also being true for all of the scenes with the two Princess sometimes less equals more and if this episode did have a longer running time then it would allow all of the plots that it focuses on in this episode to breath and have the time that they are all fighting for but as things stand this is just a really crowded episode but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well in all honesty I in all honesty thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented t us in this very episode was in all honest not that bad. With the big battle at the end of the episode being really done with them mixing both CGI effects and practical effects in a way that does for the most part does make it hard to tell which was which with the battle scene in itself being really crafted with danger both coming from the ground thanks to the ground solider s and from the air thanks to there being not one not two but THREE dragons all in the air even with the third one not really taking part in the battle and just being there because the King was angry at his brother either way you sill get to see just what alot of damage just one dragon can do and so now having three of them pretty much all taking part in the battle does make that action scene near the end of episode really worth watching even more so when you take into account that at least two of the episodes plots converge here in this one battle scene in a way that does feel satisfactory with the two Princes having there plot line taking place during this one scene which is interesting to see play out as you get to see Aemond sort of make of a plan to have Rhaenys be the one that's held responsible for the death of his brother and when that doesn't work he then has to take matters into his hands which does make this episodes action all the more thrilling and exciting to watch in this very episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really enjoyable episode that is quite easily one of the more better episodes from this shows second series as even tho there are one or two very minor issues with the episode they don't on the whole take away anything from the episode with the episode itself a being a really good episode even despite all of it's faults and flaws in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 9.5 out of 10 from me.
