Comic Girls Anime Review

So then anime fans when I said I would talk to you all again soon I freaking meant it because I have a few reviews due out this week and they are both of series and that in the case of this series just finished airing it's fourth episode the fourth episode for the next series review won't air until Saturday so here is my review of Comic Girls.

The plot of this series is it follows the day to day life of four up and coming manga artists who all live and go to school together. This show is really episodic apart from character development there's no overarching plot line to speak what so ever and I like that because not every anime needs to have an overarching story it is ok to have something that's episodic in nature.

Starring in the show we have Hikaru Akao as Kaoruko Moeta , Kaede Hondo as Koyume Koizuka , Rie Takahashi (Mash Kyrielight from Fate Grand Order anime) as Tsubasa Katsuki and Saori Ōnishi (Hisako Arato from Food Wars) as Ruki Irokawa. For me the casting is pretty freaking solid all round the only actor i'd say needs improving is Hikaru but that's not really surprising since she's fairly new to the voice acting game.

Now with anime you never really know how long a series will last and altho you will get a hint sometimes be it either from the name of the show or the genre that's still not a guarantee case in point Shirobako a slice of life series which had twenty four episodes which is why i'm glad that this series is only going to be twelve episodes long as I think this would help the series and it's story out in the long run.

The animation for the series is done by Nexus a studio who have mostly done in between work but have also produced shows such as Wakaba Girl and Chivalry of a Failed Knight so if you liked those shows then there's a huge chance you'll like the animation in this series for me the animation is just ok it does sometimes have great animation but alot of the times things just look a little off.

Now as i've mentioned the characters in this show are all manga artists and they don't all draw the same type of manga either the main character Kaoruko draws 4-koma while Koyume draws Shōjo but it doesn't stop there as Tsubasa draws Shōnen and Ruki draws teens love manga which is pretty much ecchi.

I must say that i'm glad that this series is really covering a wide range of manga genres since it would have been very easy for them to stick to one genre of manga and have the series focus on that genre but here they go into a little detail about each one and to me it adds to the characters.

Now i'll admit that i'm not an artist so I got confused as heck when they went into detail about art supplies they could have at least tried to explain it in a way that was easy to follow and understand but tho at the same time that also wouldn't have made sense in the context of that world since these characters are artists so they would know all of this stuff.

Now then what I found out while doing some research for this review is that as well as acting in the show the leads also sing the show's opening and closing songs it then saddens me to say that both songs are just bland there the typical songs you would here in a slice of life comedy and they don't really add anything to the overall production they are just there for the sake of it.

For me the humor is where this show is at it's best because this show is funny as heck it will take alot for me to laugh but this show gets me laughing in every single episode yes sometimes the jokes are predictable like with the girl who draws ecchi you know what most of the jokes are going to be when her roommates see a scene from her book but at the same time it's still funny to see play out.

Overall this is a fairly solid show and if you want to watch it you can catch it out now on Crunchyroll which I hope you do by the way because you'll be missing out and yes the picture above is a clue to me next anime series review I give Comic Girls a solid 7.5 out of 10.
