Wonder Woman: Earth One Review

Well then guys with the Wonder Woman movie coming out on digital platforms soon i thought why not take a look at one of the Wonder Woman and it just so happened that yesterday i ordered Earth One and yes i know some people call it Earth One Volume One but i know it best as Earth One so here is my review of Wonder Woman: Earth One.

The plot of the book / graphic novel is For millennia the Amazons of Paradise Island have created a thriving society away from the blight of man. One resident however is not satisfied with this secluded life Diana Princess of the Amazons knows there is more in this world and wants to explore only to be frustrated by her protective mother Hippolyta. Diana finds her escape when Air Force pilot Steve Trevor the first man she has ever seen crashes onto their shores with his life hanging in the balance Diana ventures into the long forbidden world of men. The Amazons chase after her and bring her back to Paradise Island in chains to face trial for breaking their oldest law staying separated from the world that wronged them. Yes folks this book does the over protective parent angle but to this books credit by the time you realise there doing that angle your already engrossed in the story which does have a nice pace to it and with a page count of 130 pages that's to be expected.

I have to say that i liked how Wonder Woman was written in this book most origin books would have be naive about man's world which to be fair in this book she kinda is as well but she gets over it within a few short minuets and the rest of the issue she's the hero we all know her to be which i think is really refreshing. The book also does a good job of introducing Steve Trevor since the book doesn't really focus on him it makes sense that they didn't play up his introductory scene however the one character i think they messed up with a little bit was Etta she was just to loud for me in this book.

Since the bulk of this story takes place on Paradise Island we also get to see alot of the amazons but sadly with alot of characters already trying to get some time on the page not alot of them get the time they need to show us there personality for example we don't get to find out about Nubia or The Fates and according to Wikipedia Artemis is in this book altho i never noticed her being mentioned at all the only one who stood out apart from the obvious two is Althea but that's just because she looked alot like one of the female Ghostbusters.

Now i couldn't review this book and not talk about some of the more how shall i put adult images the picture above is just example of how mature this book is and it's not the last either i mean just look at how the women are drawn in this book there all drawn with big chests and in the case of Wonder Woman bright red lips and there's one panel where a girl is chained to the floor so if you're thinking that you might buy this book for your little girl or niece please bare all of that in mind.

I would talk about what i thought of the artwork but since i havn't really seen anything from this artist i can't tell if it's his best or not but for this story i think it works altho the lines are a little to heavy for my personal liking.

Overall if you want to read a more mature Wonder Woman story then i would recommend picking this up it's a great read that could possibly keep you entertained for me this story is a 9.5 out of 10
