Back To The Future: The Animated Series TV Series "A Family Vacation" Review

It's been quite a while since I last talked about anything to do with Back To The Future be it from the movies or in this case the TV series. Well as you can all see that dry spell is ending right now as while it was popular for a successful movie to get turn into an animated series it was also popular for said series to get cancelled not long after with this show being no exception and so then join me as I review the episode that introduces both Clara and Jennifer into the show with the episode in question being called simply just "A Family Vacation" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is believing that his family have become to used to technology Doc Brown forces them all to go on a trip in thirteenth century England where Clara has to rescue both him and her boys from the evil Lord Biffingham before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured // presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that he actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as the plot of this episode was a really well done plot that made great use of the time travel aspect of the show but at the same time and while yes the plot of this episode could have been a little bit better given that this is based off of a movie and cartoon shows that are based off of movies don't usually have good plots to them it's a wonder that the plot of this was as good as it was with the plot of this episode being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown and Dan Castellaneta as The Voice Of Doc Brown. Also starring in this episode is Danny Mann as Einstein , Mary Steenburgen as Clara Clayton Brown , Josh Keaton as Jules Brown , Troy Davidson as Verne Brown , David Kaufman as Marty McFly and Harold McFly , Thomas F. Wilson as Biff Tannen and Lord Biffingham , Bill Nye as The Science Guy , voice acting legend Joe Alaskey as The Sheriff and Cathy Cavadini as Jennifer Parker and Jennivere.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With all of this episodes actors turning in some really good performances which really does make sense as lot of this episode voice cast are a bunch of really good voice actors who really can act and two some of the episodes cast are reprising there roles from the films and would there for no what kind of performance really would best suit there character in any given situation and in the case of this episode both David Kaufman , Cathy Cavadini and Thomas F. Wilson also really do some shockingly good English accents as well with the acting in this episode really being helped by the fact that the script for this episode is just so good that all this episodes cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does effect the overall quality of the acting that's in this episode.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the really greats that are currently over at BIG Pictures. Now ten interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought  felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us  in this very episode was in all honesty alot better then what it really had any right to be as there were alot of really impressive scenes in this episode that showed of just how good the animation in this episode really was like for example the opening of the episode is this one long shot taken from the POV of Einstein and it's a shot that just looked so good as it's something that really does hold up really well all of these years later and while yes the animation in this episode does really seem a little bit dated and doesn't really hold up well of these years later those are very few and far between as the film really does have more impressive animation and some really nice backgrounds in it then it does have some really bad looking animation and backgrounds in it as well.

Lord Biffingham is actually the only villain to come really close to actually killing someone as while Buford did indeed hang Mary in Back To The Future Part 3 it was pretty clear that he was going to make it out alive. However in this case that wasn't always the case as the Clara wouldn't have been able to do something and the boys were no where able to do something either and as a result of that is the fact that Doc really could have died in this episode and that is something that does make Lord Biffingham more of a threat as he more then lives up to his word and is more then able to do all of the things that he sets out to do and while the villain himself could have been handled alot more better then what he was in the final cut o0f the episode given that his future ancestor is Biff this character doesn't need to be that developed all that well due to the fact that we the audience already know everything that we're going to need to know due to the fact that he's related to Biff and while yes it would have been nice to see what it is that separates him from Biff it's not really something that's needed as it would take away from how fun the characters is.

Doc in  this episode wasn't all that well written as it makes no sense for him to get upset at his family for what he thinks is them using technology all that much. As every single that he's invented not only in the shows first episode but also in the other three films require technology and electricity and there for as a character Doc wouldn't get upset at them for doing at and heck for both Jules and Verne that's all they've known so for them using technology would have been apart of there every days lives and while yes it could argues that Clara was using technology to much as we see her doing things that really could have been done by hand and she's not been around electricity all that much both Doc and the boys have which means that he got mad at the whole family for something that they would have done anyway something which is called out in the episode at and Doc just straight up ignores it which does form apart f his character arc for the episode it's also something that really didn't need to be an arc and would have made more sense if it was Clara who forced the family to go on vacation to get away from technology.

We do get to see the earliest Mcfly ancestors in this episode with Howard and Jennivere with Jennivere possibly serving as an ancestor for Jennifer as well. With both of these characters not really being developed all that well which they really should have done as while Lord Biffingham didn't need to be that developed as he's basically just Biff but in England both Howard and Jennivere are nothing like there future relatives with the only thing that Howard has in common is the fact that both he and Marty like music and that's really it and that's not enough to make him interesting character and heck Jennivere and Jennifer have nothing in common with each other outside of the fact that they both love members of the Mcfly family and that's really it and because of that fact is the fact that both characters feel alot like side characters when in actuality there the episodes main characters and yet there not given alot of focus at all which just makes them rather dull and boring characters that really didn't need to be in this episode at all with the only reason for them being in this episode is the fact that they pretty much have to gave a member of the Mcfly family in every single time period that they visit in this show.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty one minuets and nineteen seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this show altho this episode is missing the opening live action segment which does make it a full minuet shorter then alot of the other episodes in this show and to this episodes credit it really does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time and while it does make the most of that screen time that it really could have done this episode really would have been helped if it's animated portion was longer as then it could have had scenes that developed it's guest characters instead of just leaving them as very one dimensional characters but at the same time tho that is something that is something really would have bogged this episode down as those scenes would have most likely have not been relevant to the plot of the episode and would have been filler scenes and really nothing more then that but this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I gave to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought n/ felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With alot of if not all of this episode jokes landing and while yes not all of this episodes jokes will make people laugh out loud alot of them will manage to get a smile on peoples faces and for a Saturday morning cartoon that was based off of a movie that's as good as it's going to get as those types of shows aren't usually that funny but because of the fact that this show had the creative input of the franchise creators Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale this show and this episode especially can now have jokes that do feel more in line with the types of jokes that would be seen in the movie and because of the fact that the jokes in this episode do come across as being alot better then what they really should have been which does make this episodes jokes really fun and funny to watch and to listen to as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while the first episode of this show was the stronger episode this wasn't a bad follow up episode and it does go to show at this franchise really does have a life outside of the movies and really could have carried the franchise on if it lasted longer then two seasons with this episode being a really fun filled episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Back To The Future fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the wonderful Google Images since all of the images that are currently up and and featured / presented to us on Google Images are all fairly high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.

Back To The Future: The Animated Series TV Series "Brothers" Review

When a movie is popular it's not uncommon for it to spawn both sequels and some form of spin off be it a TV series or a popular characters getting their own movie. This movie spin off however is quite unique in that it has three of the original stars of the movie all reprising their roles for this series and so then join me as I review the episode that introduces a new Delorean time machine with the episode in question being called simply just "Brothers" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is Verne is sick of being treated like a baby by his brother Jules and so steals the family time machine only to end up in the American Civil War and so it's up to Doc , Jules , Marty and the family dog Einstein to rescue Verne before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well in then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad but the issue is that it's also not that good either with this episodes plot really being fairly predictable in my freaking opinions anyways /at least.

Starring in this episode is Voice acting legend Dan Castellaneta as The Voice Of Doc Brown and Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown. Also starring in this episode is Joshua Keaton as Jules Brown , Troy Davidson as Verne Brown , Danny Mann as Einstein , David Kaufman as Marty Mcfly , Thomas F. Wilson as Confederate General Beauregard Tannen and making his TV debut we also have the great Bill Nye as The Science Guy.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. With thew actors that you expect a good performance from well and truly delivering but at the same time this episodes script really doesn't give the actors alot to work with interms of what their respective characters personalities is.

Dong the animation for this episode is BIG Pictures , Colossal Pictures and the legends and the greats that are currently over at Far Eastern Animation. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad altho it was hard to tell who some of the film characters were meant to be since a very few of them look like how they looked like in the films.

This series is rather unique in that it has two actors playing the exact same character with Dan Castellaneta voicing Doc Brown in the animated segments and the character being played by Christopher Lloyd in the live action segments. What makes this stand out even more is the fact that Christopher Lloyd played Doc Brown in the three Back To The Future movies and yet because Dan is such a good voice actor you can't actually tell the difference because the voice is so similar to how Doc Brown sounds in the movies.

One of the things that I really didn't like about this episode is the fact that they made Doc so much like a cartoon character that he almost becomes annoying. This is done just by having Doc act like he's a cartoon character alot of the time which just doesn't work for this character since this character isn't a cartoon character he's a little eccentric but that's it he's not the type of character that will do the whole walking on air and then fall when he looks down routine that type of joke just doesn't work for this character because this character is smarter then that.

This episode does also break the rule behind time travel in the Back To The Future movies in that you can travel backwards and forwards in time but not in space in other wards where ever you started to time travel from that's where you'll end up when you come out the other side. With that being said this episode does give an in universe reason behind this change in that Doc rebuilt the Delorean and added modifications to it with one of those being the time circuits are now voice activated and have the ability to change location which does explain it away but at the same time it makes you wonder why Doc didn't make those exact same changes in Back To The Future Part 2 which would have saved both him and Marty alot of trouble.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty two minuets and thirty five seconds. Which oddly isn't long enough for a story like this one to last since this episodes story very easily could have bee the plot of a fourth movie but at the same time I can't picture this episode lasting any longer then what does as with this current running time every single scene is about moving the plot of episode forward and as such this episode really does have some great pacing to it with no scene really lasting longer or shorter then what it really needs to.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time alot of this episodes jokes just weren't as funny nor as clever as the ones seen the movies. Which is a shame because when this episode tells a really good joke you really do know about it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this wasn't a bad episode to start this show on since it does explain alot of thing that fans like myself would point out and notice but at the same time you can quite clearly notice the dip in quality between this show and the movies in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about ll of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Back To The Future fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the wonderful Google Images since all of the images that are currently up and and featured / presented to us on Google Images are all fairly high in quality and as well as being really fairly freaking high in definition.

Back To The Future: The Animated Series Review

Back To The Future fans depending on where you read this review you'll know that i'm currently in the process of reviewing things from the Back To The Future franchise and that includes what i'm about to review today. What i'm going to review is something that not even fans of the Back To the Future franchise talk about and after seeing a few episodes I can kind of see why so here is my review of Back To The Future: The Animated Series.

The premise of this show is basically it's the further adventures of Doc , Marty and Doc's family so to say it's episodic would be an understatement. Unlike other episodic shows where you don't need to have seen the first episode to understand what's going on in this case you need to have seen at least the first and third film just because those films introduce alot of the characters that are seen in this series.

Returning as Doc Brown in the shows live action segments is the great Christopher Lloyd with the character being voiced by Homer Simpson yup you heard that right Dan Castellaneta is in the show. Chris isn't the only returning actor tho as we also have Mary Steenburgen as Clara Clayton Brown and Thomas F. Wilson as not only Biff Tannen but also every ancestor of the Tannen family. The new actors are Cathy Cavadini as Jennifer Parker , David Kaufman as Marty Mcfly , a young Josh Keaton as Jules Brown and Troy Davidson as his brother Verne Brown.

The returning actors are fine even tho Christopher Lloyd shockingly sounds pretty bad in the live action segments. Both Mary and Tom are pretty decent in the show altho none are really given much to work with which I guess makes sense since we did just have three films set in that world. It's with the new actors tho that in my opinion the acting works it's best even a young Josh Keaton is actually pretty good in the show.

The animation was done by Big Pictures don't worry if you havn't heard of them I havn't either and I can't even find out what they've worked on because there's nothing about them on the internet anywhere. As for what I thought about the animation it's very cartoony which normally wouldn't be an issue but the fact that the film series it came from was very mature in a lot of ways it really is kind of jarring.

Another issue I have with the show is that it's aimed at little kids which wouldn't be an issue but it trys to have it cake by having be set in the world of Back To the Future. From day one people should have realised that having a Back To The Future animated series aimed at kids is a bad idea and it's because in order to understand anything you need to have seen the movies they can't make a kids shows based on a film that had a PG rating and expect the kids watching the show to understand everything that's going on.

Unlike the film series which strictly follows the rules of Time Travel established in The Time Machine for some reason this series doesn't. Just so you know what I mean the rule of time travel is if you build and then use a time machine you can only go backwards and forwards in time not in time and space. For some reason this show doesn't follow that rule in fact it breaks it in the very first episode and that really annoys me because the first film did time travel really well so now to see those same characters moving in time and space in a time machine to me is really irritating.

This show first started airing on CBS on September 14th 1991 and lasted for two seasons airing it's final episode on December 26th 1992 and lasting twenty six episodes with each season being thirteen episodes. For you see this show went into production just after the third film came out and the world was craving more adventures and since Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis didn't want to do a sequel they instead chose to make an animated series that way the world can get more adventures and they can work on other films. It's not a bad idea in theory but the issue is like I said they chose to aim a film which would have been seen by teens and adults at little kids.

To me what would have made the most sense was if they used the actual Back To The Future theme for the intro to the show since that's the theme that's most associated with the franchise or if not that at least "The Power Of Love" by Huey Lewis and The news. What we have instead is a pretty bad cover version of "Back In Time" which granted was written for the film but it's not a song that you think of when you think of Back To The Future and for some reason they reuse a scene from the end of the first movie and they remove the great score by Alan Silvestri and replace it with a terrible piece of music.

I have to say that I kind of hate that they made this show very cartoony it's not a bad idea but when it comes from a film is kind of grounded in reality it doesn't make sense and can be jarring. I think that they made it cartoony just to please the little kids but without realising that the people most likely to not only watch this show but also enjoy it are people who watched and enjoyed the movies so why they didn't take a more realistic approach is beyond me.

It seems that the animation wasn't the only thing done to please little kids because anything that made the movies more adult isn't present in this series at all. All of the jokes are jokes that little kids would have enjoyed. I honestly don't think that I laughed at one single joke all throughout the entire series which is pretty bad considering that this is meant to be a comedy. Heck even the characters seem like a more cartoony version of there movie counterparts how they managed to do that with established characters is beyond me but some how they did it.

Overall I can very easily see why fans of the franchise wouldn't talk about this franchise however at the same time it is still new adventures with our favourite characters so if your a fan of the franchise it might be worth checking out but if your not a fan don't even bother just avoid the fan inside me is giving this series a 5.5 out of 10 but if I wasn't a fan it would be getting at least a 4 out 10
