Game Of Thrones "Battle Of The B*****ds" Review

Game Of Thrones fans it's been at least a month since I reviewed a Game Of Thrones episode and well the episode I have lined up is one that i've been wanting to do for a few weeks now. In terms of what i'm calling battle episodes which are episodes that are mostly filled up with a big battle this is one of the the better ones and yes i'm editing the title just because in some places where i'm posting this review they don't allow swearing and I figured if you know the name of the episode then good for you and so here is my review of "Battle Of The B*****ds" Game Of Thrones and none Game Of Thrones fans alike.

The plot of this episode is in the North John and Sansa head into a deadly confrontation with Ramsay while in Meereen  Daenerys finally acquires something that will help her get to Westeros. lot wise the episode for me is really strong since both stories are told really well and help progress plots for certain characters with Sansa's plot about getting revenge of Ramsay coming to a conclusion and the plot with  Daenerys trying to get Westeros getting a huge leap forward and the story as a whole was told really well in my opinion.

Starring in the episode is Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister , Kit Harington as Jon Snow and Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen. Also starring in the episode are Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth , Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark , Aidan Gillen as Petyr Baelish , Carice Van Houten as Melisandre , Nathalie Emmanuel as Missandei , Kristofer Hivju as Tormund , Iwan Rheon as Ramsay Bolton , Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy , Michiel Huisman as Daario Naharis , Art Parkinson as Rickon Stark and Bella Ramsey as Lyanna Mormont

In terms of what i thought about the acting in the episode it was honestly really good which for Game of Thrones isn't anything new. Honestly all of the actors in this episode do a really good job in this episode and alot of what makes there performances so good is not only the fact that we know these characters inside out and so know how they would react but it's also the script and direction that help give the actors a good performance in my opinion.

Doing the CGI for this episode were Screen Scene , Iloura , Rodeo FX and the greats over at Rhythm & Hues Studios. The CGI effects in Game Of Thrones have always been top notch and this episode despite not having that much effects apart from the dragons , fire , making a giant and making both armies look bigger then what they are are actually really good and they more then hold up to the shows already high standard when it comes to CGI.

Now I full on admit to not remembering much about season 6 in fact I haven't seen any episode from this season in a long time. As such I don't recall what each characters arc is for this season but I assume that this episode apart from the two storylines that I mentioned did a good job of representing the storylines of the small amount of characters that are in this episode but there's a huge chance that I could be wrong tho.

Now If I had to choose between this episode and the Blackwater episode and say which one is my all time favourite battle episode i'd have to give it to Blackwater. Simply because that episode was the first full length battle that was done in the show and from what I recall about the episode it did a good job of showing what an army is like in this world when it's fighting at nearly which is something that this episode doesn't do in my opinion.

Another thing that I kind of didn't like about the episode is the fact that it's just under an hour long with the final running time being fifty seven minuets long. Which for an episode this important and this good isn't long enough if anything it should have been at least an hour and a half long and what makes me say that is the fact that there's more then enough story to make the episode an hour and a half plus by making it that long it means that we get a much longer battle sequence as well.

Now even tho i'm a big fan of Daenerys I don't actually think that she was needed in this episode whatsoever. I honestly feel that her scenes would have been better of being put in episode 10 just because we already have one big battle in this episode and so to have to big action scenes right after each other is only going to tire the audience out plus by putting them in episode 10 you not only have the cliffhanger of is she going to survive but then you can quickly pay that of by showing her with the ships and sailing to Dragonstone straight away plus if you remove her scenes then you can have a much longer battle sequence.

There was no way in hell I could review this episode and not talk about the death of Rickon Stark because honestly the character acted pretty freaking dumb. He knows that Ramsay is firing arrows at him and yet he still freaking runs in a straight line he should have thrown in some zig zags just to throw him of but nope he went on running in a straight line which freaking made him an easy target and i'm shocked that it took Ramsay as long as it did to kill him.

Now then since there was action in this episode that does mean that I have to talk about the action that we saw in the episode. Which honestly for a TV show was pretty freaking impressive with the main battle just being a freaking treat for the eyes and the fact that they managed to pack in as much story into this one battle as well as many creative things is really freaking impressive (I don't think i've seen an army nearly crushed to death before) and it's sequences like this that make me want the whole episode to to just be this one battle.

Overall this is a really freaking solid episode in my opinion and is a very good example of what Game Of Thrones is like when it's at it's best. That being said yes this episode does have some issues but they are in my opinion very minor issues and they don't prevent you from enjoying the episode as a whole which is always a good thing in my opinion as such this episode gets a 9.5 out of 10 from me Game Of Thrones fans.

All images for this review were gathered from either the Game Of Thrones Season 6 fandom wiki page or Google images. Both of which I do highly recommend since they have some pretty high quality images and if you choose not to use them well then  my dogs haven't been fed for seven days and yes guys that was a joke there's no need to get yourself all worked up I was only kidding they haven't been fed for six days again i;m joking.
