Worzel Gummidge "The Scarecrow Wedding" Review

As you can all no doubt work out by now I simply love watching Worzel Gummidge heck i'd even go as far as to say that it'd one of if not the most underrated thing that Jon Pertwee has ever starred in. What makes this show so good is the fact that it's not afraid to hit you with a really emotional moment and so then join me as I review the episode that is quite possibly the saddest episode of Worzel Gummidge with the show in question being called simply just "The Scarecrow Wedding" enjoy.

The plot of the episode is Aunt Sally finally agrees to marry Worzel but things take a turn when the happy couple make it to the altar. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that he actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with this episodes plot being simple and yet at the exact same time being totally and utterly heartbreaking as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge , the late Una Stubbs as Aunt Sally and Charlotte Coleman as Sue Peters. Also starring in this episode is Jeremy Austin as John Peters , Geoffrey Bayldon as The Crowman , Mike Berry as Mr. Peters , Norman Bird as Mr Braithwaite , Jennifer Croxton as The Waitress , Megs Jenkins as Mrs Braithwaite , Bill Maynard as Sergeant Beetroot , Wayne Norman as Pickles , Alex Scott as Cobber Gummidge , Talfryn Thomas as Soggy Boggart and Dame Barbara Windsor as Saucy Nancy.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With all of this episodes cast members turning in some really good performances with the acting in this episode being the best acting in the whole entire series because it's really all that damned good with this episode in particular worth watching just for the acting alone.

This episode really does prove that the character of Aunt Sally is well and truly the antagonist of this show. Since even tho we've seen her act like a villain in the past it was never done in the name of vanity it was always done because she doesn't know any better but here she was in full on vanity mode with her only reason to agreeing to marry Worzel was so that she could have a nice new wedding dress and the only reason why she even showed up to the wedding was so that people could see her in the wedding dress and so that she could have picture taken in it and have her picture plastered in all of the local news papers.

I said at the start of this review that this is the saddest episode of the show with it being sad because we get to see Worzel getting his heartbroken by Aunt Sally. Which granted is nothing new but what really sells it is the scenes after it since Worzel asks The Crowman if he has a miserable head because that's how he's feeling right there and then and on top of that when another wedding is taking place we get to hear Worzel and Aunt Sally each recite wedding vows not to each other but to who their dream match is with Aunt Sally's being some rich lord and Worzel's being none other then Aunt Sally herself which just goes to show you just how much Worzel himself really does care for and love Aunt Sally.

Speaking of The Crowman I really did love the speech that he gives Worzel to cheer him in this episode. To put it bluntly his speech I think is meant to be an allegory for depression since The Crowman says that he Worzel wouldn't want it to be sunny all he time and that in order to appreciate the good times you have to suffer through all of the bad times which now that I think about it might not be about depression it's such a good written speech that subtly tells you what true happiness might be and how to well and truly appreciate it.

Whenever possible I try and watch these Worzel Gummidge twice once just on it's own and once again with the audio commentary just to get any background information on the episode. Here for this episode I found out that the pretty much the entire opening with Worzel and Aunt Sally was not only rewritten but was also shot months after the episode had finished production due to a strike that was going on at the time however the more interesting thing I found out is that both Jon Pertwee and Una Stubbs choreographed both the start of Worzel's wedding (Jon Pertwee) and the end of the episode itself (Una Stubbs) which I thought was a pair of incredibly fun sequences however at the same time even for this show they were really odd especially Jon's part.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this episodes running time even was I do know that this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly twenty five minuets. Which was a bit on the short side for a story like this one to last since you very easily could have gotten this episode up to one hour just by expanding upon the story but by keeping the episode at this time it means that alot of plot points as good as they are feel rushed and don't really all that earned at all.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With this episode having just as much laugh out loud funny moments as it does really sad moments and that is due to how good this shows writing is in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall out of all of the episodes that i've seen this is quite easily the best one since it's good example of what this show is like when it's at it's best and it's one that I highly recommend people watch because it;s that good of an episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 9 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used on this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Amazon . Co . Uk , Wikipedia and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the wonderful Google Images since all of the images that are currently up and and featured / presented to us on Google Images are all fairly high in quality and as well as being really fairly freaking high in definition.
