Fear The Walking Dead Season 4 Premier Review

Hello horror and comic book fans i'm here to bring you something new and totally different at least for me anyways a review of the Fear The Walking Dead season 4 premier and how these will work is instead of doing a weekly review I will only review the season premier , mid-season finale , mid-season premier and the season finale and i'm starting it with this episode so no i'm not reviewing the season 8 finale of The Walking Dead.

I sure as heck hope you watch the season 8 finale before you watch this episode because the plot of this episode spoils that one which is why i'm not going to summarize the story because of the fact it does contain major spoilers but I will say that it is a fairly well told story and it does a good job of setting up the season as well as answering some questions left after the season 3 finale.

For a crossover episode there's not that many Fear characters but at the same time i'm not going to spoil some of the surprise appearances nor will I credit the Fear actors that appear because of spoilers so in this episode we have Lennie James as Morgan Jones , Maggie Grace as Althea and Garret Dillahunt as John Dorie. Before you start saying that crediting Lennie is a spoiler he was announced months ago so in my eyes it's not a spoiler and I have to say that the two new characters John and Althea are really well acted and I can see them becoming popular characters if the show doesn't kill them off by the season finale.

For those that are wondering there is a time skip I don't really know how much time has passed since the season 3 finale but now both shows are in the exact same timeline which for me is pretty interesting because it now means that any character could appear on the other show in a moments notice and it would feel totally natural.

When I said this episode spoils the season 8 finale for The Walking Dead I want you all to know that i'm not making that up or exaggerating because pretty much from the first time we see Morgan we know what's happened in the finale plus they talk about the season 8 finale as well so my advice is to watch that episode first and then watch this premier episode do not make the same mistake I did i'm not even sure if I should watch the finale now because I know what's going to happen.

Along with getting three new cast members this episode also sees the debut of new show runners gone is former show runner Dave Erickson and in are Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg who did co-write this episode with now ex walking dead show runner Scott M. Gimple but we will have to wait another week to see what they can truly do as writers and we also got a new location with the show moving it's setting from Mexico to Texas.

There was alot of zombie action in this weeks episode and for me that's a great thing as it gives us a chance to see what the two new characters can do when they are put under that type of situation and all I have to say Al is a freaking badass i'm not giving anything away by saying that but damn girl damn.

The zombies themselves even look pretty good which for this show and this universe is nothing new since the zombies always look really good the makeup on this show always blows me away and this episode was really no different the makeup effects looked phenomenal and I hope that we get to see this level of makeup effects throughout the rest of the season.

Overall this was a solid debut episode it does have a few faults mostly with pacing and giving away the final episode of The Walking Dead but that's really it so this episode gets an 8 out of 10 from moi.
