The Prince And The Pauper 1990 Short Film Review

Disney has alot of really famous characters from Goofy to Donald Duck to Minnie Mouse but none are more famous then Mickey Mouse. With the character having basically carried Walt Disney Pictures of his back for what must be close to one hundred years by now and well then in 1990 the studio released a short film featuring it's world famous mouse and so then join me as I review the film that basically has two Mickey Mouse's with the film in question being called simply just "The Prince And The Pauper" enjoy.

The plot of this film is a down his luck beggar finds out that the prince looks exactly like him and the prince gets the idea for the two to switch but when an evil Captain of the guard gets wind of the plan it's to the duo to save the kingdom for once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films plot being kind of cheesy but at the same time it was also a very enjoyable plot to see playout in this very film as well in me freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Wayne Allwine as Mickey Mouse and The Prince and Bill Farmer as Goofy / Horace Horsecollar / Weasel 1 and Pluto. Also starring in this film is Arthur Burghardt as Captain Pete , Tony Anselmo as Donald Duck , Charlie Adler as Weasel 2 & Weasel 3 / Pig Driver / Peasant and Man In Street , Frank Welker as Archbishop and The King , Elvia Allman as Clarabelle Cow , Tim Eyster as Kid 1 , Rocky Krakoff as Kid 2 and Roy Dotrice as This Films Narrator.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of the actors that you expect to deliver a good performance doing just that however there were a few characters like The Archbishop that had voiced that just didn't match the character design and Bill Farmer just doesn't do that good of a job as Pluto.

Doing the actual animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Walt Disney Feature Animation and The Baer Animation Company. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty heck i'd even go as far as to say that this films animation was feature film worthy because that's how good that the animation that we get in this film well and truly is.

This film is of course an adaptation of the 1881 novel of the same name by author Mark Twain and well to be blunt this film Disneyfied the original source material. Since the original book has a lot of dark moments with both the titular prince and pauper getting beaten and abused by the paupers father several times and the film whilst having some of the books commentary on the English judicial system and class it doesn't go as far as it could have gone to really hit home just how awful Mickey's life is prior to meeting the prince.

On the flip side of this we do get to see how awful the Prince thinks that his life and so we do get to see why he would want to switch lives with Mickey. However in order for this story to work you need to understand both characters reasons for wanting to switch just giving us one characters reason and then having that character force Mickey into going along with this scheme ultimately doesn't do justice to either the story or either of the characters.

To me Pete seemed like a really decent villain in this film since he was rather threatening and he does have a somewhat clear end goal in mind. However what let's the character down is the fact that he's not really evil enough yes this is Disney so the character can't be to evil otherwise you risk making parents and little kids angry but since he's the main villain of the film I wanted to see him be alot more evil then what he already is since in the end that would make us root for the heroes alot more and would make us want to see Pete get defeated all the more.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty five minuets and twenty six seconds. Which I will very much admit is the absolutely perfect running time for this film to have since this film really doesn't all that much there interms of plot to make it a feature length film which is a sham because I would have loved it if Disney did an animated version of this song but as a feature length film since the story itself is a very fairly solid story that is more then strong enough to support a full length feature length Disney animated film.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this film being genuinely quite funny at times with alot of this films jokes feeling like jokes that we'd have seen in early Disney films and not like jokes that we're getting in today's Disney animated films.

Overall this film is a decent little short film and it's a film that I can see alot of little kids enjoying since it has all of the characters that they enjoy doing all of the things that you'd expect them to do in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the wonderful Google Images since all of the images that are currently up and and featured / presented to us on Google Images are all fairly high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
