Doctor Who: Day Of The Daleks Review

Doctor Who fans the announcement of a new collection box set is always very exciting however what excited me the most about this upcoming release was the fact that there was a dalek story that i'd never even heard of. So the very first chance that I got I went and tracked down all four episodes of this serial and well then I have some thoughts on this serial and so then join me as I review the serial that reintroduced the world to  the Daleks with the serial in question being called simply just "Day Of The Daleks" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is The Doctor , UNIT and Jo investigate the attempted assassination of a British diplomat only to find an arch enemy of The Doctors is planning something very deadly. Now then interms of what I personally thought / flt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty rather OK at best since this episodes story is rather thin at best and just down right isn't there at it's worst in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Worzel Gummidge star Jon Pertwee as The Doctor , Katy Manning as Jo Grant and Nicholas Courtney as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. Also starring in this episode is Richard Franklin as Captain Mike Yates , John Levene as Sergeant Benton , Wilfred Carter as Sir Reginald Styles , Jean McFarlane as Miss Paget , Anna Barry as Anat , Scott Fredericks as Boaz , Jimmy Winston as Shura , Tim Condren as Guerilla , Aubrey Woods as Controller , Valentine Palmer as Monia , Oliver Gilbert as The Voice Of The Daleks and Peter Messaline as The Voice Of The Daleks.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With all of this episodes cast members turning in some really good performances however with that being said the voices that they have for the Daleks are just straight up bad and it's no wonder that they removed the people who voiced the daleks after this one episode because of the fact that the Dalek voices were that bad.

This episode marked the return of the Daleks since 1967's The Evil Of The Daleks and well this episode doesn't do them any kind of justice. Since they give them a terrible introduction and they give them little to no motivation in this episode both of which are things that a Dalek story should do since it makes these characters seem like bigger threat then they already are and it doesn't help that they give them a stupid looking eye on their eye stalk which just looks very cartoonish and not at all threatening at all.

This episode also marked the introduction of a new TARDIS interior which i'm in two minds about since having a ore stripped back interior does suit this version of the The Doctor perfectly. However on the flip side of that this interior just doesn't look that visually interesting since it just looks very bland and it;s not really helped by the fact that there very little to no lights in the console room and so you can't really get a good look at it which does make it slightly hard to fully judge this new TARDIS interior.

One of the things that this episode introduces is the idea of The Doctor and Jo suffering from crossed time streams. Which given that appears very early in the first episode you'd think that it's going to play a part in the episode and while it doesn't play apart in the episode in one sense it does in the fact that a group of rebels have to cross their own time streams to stop a potential war from happening but at the same time the whole concept of suffering from crossed time streams doesn't really play a major part in the episode which makes me wonder why they introduced that concept very early on in the episode if there not going to pay it off by the end of episode since it just makes a very pointless thing to include in this episode.

One of the things that both Jon Pertwee and Katy Manning hated about this episode is the fact that they couldn't get behind the idea of three Daleks launching a full scale attack on this one house. I say that one Dalek is more then enough to launch a full scale attack on this one massive house since we know that Daleks are pretty much unkillable and one Dalek has more fire power then an entire squadron but at the same time having just three Daleks launching this entire attack does seem a little bit on the small side since it doesn't make the Daleks seem like that much of a threat.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty minuets. With this episode being four episodes long with each episode lasting no longer then twenty five minuets with episode one being twenty three minuets and thirty nine seconds , episode two being twenty three minuets and fifty five seconds , episode three being twenty four minuets and twenty seconds and episode for being twenty four minuets and twenty two seconds all of which where perfect running times for each episode to last and it really does help that this story has some really great pacing to it as well.

So now then since there is some action in this episode that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not bad. Altho I will admit that the choreography of The Doctor's action scenes was a little of but it's always going to be cool seeing some Daleks launch an all attack in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a pretty bad Dalek story but if this episode featured an original villain then it might have been a much more stronger episode but as it is this episode just doesn't work at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Doctor Who fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the wonderful the official Doctor Who fandom wiki page since all of the images that are currently up and and featured / presented to us on the official Doctor Who fandom wiki page are all fairly high in quality and as well as being fairly freaking high in definition.
