Love Live! Sunshine!! Season 1 Review

Anime fans you guys might not know this but I love idol anime and I know that saying that out loud can be a bad thing in the anime community but it's true. Heck I love it so much that i've seen every single season of the Love Live anime and it's sequel series plus i've seen the first movie and I plan on watching the second. I bring all of this up because for Christmas I got a special gift from the North Pole and that was the first season of Love Live Sunshine on DVD so you guys know what that means so here is my review of season one.

The basic premise for season one of the show is basically split into two because for the first half of the season the girls will try anything to get just one fan. In the second half however it takes the more familiar Love Live route and has the girls trying to save there school from closing down and it's also worth noting that this plot line would also carry on into season 2. If you ask me the show dropped the plot line that was a lot more interesting and different since in my opinion it would be alot more interesting seeing them try and get just one fan then it is seeing them try to save the school.

Now since i'm doing this review after getting the DVD I will of course be crediting the dubbed actors however when the series first aired I watched both seasons of the show both subbed and dubbed. So starring in the dubbed version of the show is Apphia Yu as Yo Watanabe , Jad Saxton as Chika Takami , Jamie Marchi as Mari Ohara , Jeannie Tirado as Riko Sakurauchi , Megan Shipman as Hanamaru Kunikida , Michelle Rojas as Kanan Matsuura , Morgan Berry as Yoshiko Tsushima , Morgan Garrett as Dia Kurosawa and Sarah Wiedenheft as Ruby Kurosawa.

In terms of the acting I thought that it was really good what did worry me when I heard that this was getting dubbed was that it would turn out horrible like the first Love Live dub did. I only had those thoughts because when this was getting dubbed Love Live had just started releasing there episodes dubbed and it was bad but tho thankfully here everyone sounds exactly how you picture they would and all the girls do a good job in the series.

As with all things Love Live the animation for the show was done by Sunrise and what I found out was that this studio has several different studios within it depending on the show or film that's being worked on so when they say that this show was animated by Sunrise what they actually mean is that Sunrise Studio 8 worked on the show. As for the actual animation I thought it wasn't that bad all of the characters have some nice character designs and the country setting helps set this show apart from other anime in this genre.

When this show was first announced I like i'm guessing many other Love Live fans hoped that U's would make an appearance in the show. After seeing both seasons when they aired I have to say that i'm a little disappointed that they didn't show up at least in the first episode of the first season or if not then at least in the final episode of the same season but nope. Son now I hold out hope what little of it there is at this point that they would appear in the movie just because for me it would be rather fitting and it would serve as a great send of to both shows.

I didn't no this when I chose to review this season but there is an actual connection behind the scenes to the previous show and that's the fact that Caitlin Glass who played Maki Nishikino and who also wrote the English dub. She was the voice director for this series and after scrolling through her page and animenewsnewtwork.com I can say that even tho you won't know her name if your an anime fan you'll know the shows that she's worked on both behind the scenes and not because in terms of behind the scenes she's worked on Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood , One Piece and Sakura Quest.

When it comes to starring in anime she's been in Absolute Duo , Attack on Titan , Black Clover , Dragon Ball Super , Fairy Tail , Love Live , Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood plus many more and when I say many more i'm not even half way through her animenewsnetwork page. That should go on to tell you how talented the people working on this dub are because they are true anime legends even tho the first Love Live had a talented voice cast the overall duality of the dub wasn't that good.

Like the previous show this show is full to the brim with drama like I think every other episode has some sort of drama in there. Which would be fine if this was the second season I wouldn't mind it as much since adding in drama there would make alot of sense but for the first season it doesn't make sense for them to have alot of drama so early on it would have made more sense to have the drama appear later on in the season because we would have had more time to get to know the characters but they do it very early on in this show and it's not as effective because we haven't had the time to get to know the characters.

Like the previous Love Live series both of the seasons for this show consist of thirteen twenty two minuets episodes. I have to say tho that even tho the episodes are the standerd anime length for some reason they actually felt alot longer then twenty two minuets and I have no idea why that is at all. I mean I didn't feel bored watching the series it's just really odd that the episodes would feel a lot longer then they actually are.

I'll admit when I first saw the show I was sad by the time episode thirteen of season one aired because this is a rather solid show and I was confused when in season 2 they seemingly changed the storyline. I say that because I forgot that they actually changed the story during the first season so that was one hundred percent my fault but tho with that being said I don't see any reason why they had to change the story the one they had with them just trying to get one fan worked but I guess they wanted to go back to what the fans knew instead of doing something new , different and interesting.

Now as we all know Love Live is basically a musical anime franchise and that means that there are songs a plenty to discuss. What makes the songs in idol anime stand out tho is that alot of them are sung by the actual actors and the same is true for Sunshine well kind of since it's the Japanese voice actors. Which is honestly really jarring at the beginning because the characters would go from speaking perfect English to suddenly speaking Japanese in my opinion if your going to dub an idol anime at least go all the way and dub the songs as well.

Not keep going on about the fact that the songs aren't dubbed but it's made even worse by the fact that two of the characters do sing in perfect English early on in the show I know why they couldn't do it but they have to realise that it be quite jarring. As for the actual songs themselves there pretty good all of the songs are pop songs and i'm not that big into pop music so alot of these songs aren't for me but the opening song "Aozora Jumping Heart" is a really good poppy type of song.

As is to be expected in the first season of a sequel series the show does a few call backs to the previous show. Those call backs mainly consist of the characters mentioning iconic locations from Love Live tho so if you havn't seen that show they could fly over your head but at the same time you should be able to understand what there referencing. Since i'm a fan of this song there is one call back that I really loved and it's in either episode two or episode three and it's where the main character talks about how she wants to be an idol because of U's and the song playing is freaking Start: Dash which when that started playing I just starting singing right away.

As with any Love Live anime this first season does spend alot of time getting the band together and of course that means there going to run into a pretty big cliche in the world of idol anime and that's the fact that the student council president hates idols and so will not allow them to make a school club. I cannot begin to tell you how much I hate this cliche and it's not just because it's boring and repetitive but it's because we know that in a few episodes that same character will be apart of the group so it makes that whole subplot seem like pointless filler.

Again as with anything to do with Love Live the show does have alot of humour in it and I might seem a bit bias here because i;m a fan of the franchise but tho in my opinion alot of the jokes really do work. Yes some of them might seem tired and repetitive but how they are done in this season of the show does somehow make them feel fresh and i'll admit I spent alot of the time watching this with a huge smile on my face which for me can only be a great thing.

Overall this first season was just as good as I remember it being but there were a few issues that I didn't notice the first time watching it but tho those issues didn't harm my overall enjoyment of the show it self. So Love Live! Sunshine!! season 1 gets a 6 out of 10 from me.

Cartoon Vs Anime An Open Post

OK cartoon fans i've been struggling to come up with at least a semi decent blog idea and this was the only one that I could think of that was something different. In this post we are going to look at both Cartoons and Anime and try and judge which is better please note tho that I won't be looking at shows or movies but rather writing , animation , acting and if it's for kids or not since there the things that they'd both have in common so it makes sense so here we go.

Writing

Cartoons

The writing in most cartoons like anything can range from good to bad depending on who's involved with the show. Take for example The Flintstones for it's first four seasons the writing was pretty solid but when Bamm-Bamm got introduced suddenly all of that mature writing was gone and in it's place was something that was strictly for kids and it's in my experience that this kind of thing wouldn't happen in anime.

Anime

Now to keep things fair and scare here i'm not going to make comparisons to a show that is clearly better if it's a cartoon or an anime and im not going to be talking about films either. Now lets talk anime because even tho i've seen some pretty bad anime recently the overall writing in the good shows is really freaking good. Pokemon for example even tho like The Flintstones it's for kids it treats it's audience with respect and this will be the only time in this post that you see me mention a film but in the movie I Choose You there were some good emotional moments in there.

Animation

Anime

Now incase you don't know the above image is from an anime called Eiken it's known as the worst anime ever made and yes i've seen it. I mention Eiken because it's a perfect example of an anime with freaking terrible animation every single mistake that could be made with the animation in this show is freaking made however it's important to note that not all anime shows have terrible animation infact sometimes that's far from the truth.

Cartoon

Like Eiken have had the pleasure of watching the reboot of The Powerpuff Girls and while I personally didn't the wlel known animation errors. I do agree with people when they say that this show is badly animated now however like Eiken this isn't true for all cartoons or all cartoon reboots for example the Ducktales reboot has some great animation as do shows like Final Space but when the animation is bad be it in an anime or cartoon it really does show.

Acting

Cartoon

This is a bit harder to split into both mediums but i;m going to try my best because I do think it needs to be talked about. Cartoons have a rich history when it comes to voice acting legends we have all heard the late and great Mel Blanc be it when we were growing up or if we just want to watch a Looney Tunes cartoon however sadly in my personal opinion outside of maybe a few actors we have nobody who we can truly say are great actors.

Anime

Again as with cartoons we've all heard the great Sean Schemmel as Goku be it in various Dragon Ball TV shows , movies or video games. Now i'm not a big follower of Japanese actors yes I will watch subbed anime but I have no idea who's in them so in terms of dubbed anime the acting can really be off at times and alot of that isn't the actors fault because by the time they get to record the lines it's already been animated and shown some where else in the world so they have to match the lip movements. However when the acting in an anime is good it can be heaven to listen to.

Is It For Kids

This is where both cartoons and anime are in the exact same boat because it some point you'll hear these exact words "that's for kids" well truth be told in cartoons that will not always be the case but sadly the main stream people won't ever convert to that way of thinking because of the fact that cartoons are marketed more towards little kids. Which is because it's alot easier for them to try and sell something to a little kid then it is to an adult.

Anime is in the exact same boat but not for the same reason anime is in this boat because alot of the main stream audience confuse an anime show for a cartoon. Which is understandable since anime is short for animation however unlike with cartoons where you'd have a hard time trying to convince people that a show like Adventure Time can also be for adults you can try and get alot further with them with an anime. Since all you'd have to do is mention shows like Hellsing Ultimate , Elfen Lied or Castlevania and they'll know right away that those shows are for adults only.

Now you might have noticed that I havn't put who won what in this post and well there's a simple answer for that. I want to keep the ending open to interpretation so you guys can think that I think that cartoons are better or you can think that I think that anime is better and guess what you'd both be right.

Cosplay Complex Review

Anime fans as you might have noticed during late 2018 I was looking at a lot of pretty obscure anime and reviewing them. Well it seems that's going to continue because i've found yet another obscure anime. Heck this anime is so obscure that i'm expecting to get comments saying something like "I haven't heard of this" or "What the heck is this" but talking about obscure anime is pretty fun and a great way to expand your anime plate so here is my review of Cosplay Complex.

There's no plot to this show at all so I can't give you guys a summery of the plot heck I can't even tell you what the premise is since the one they introduce in episode one is resolved at the end of that episode. This show is basically stuff happens the anime because things just happen for no reason and like I said there's plot so there's no reason to feel connected to the characters or to see them succeed and that's not a good thing at all especially if you want us to care for these characters.

Starring in this show was Larissa Wolcott as Chako Hasegawa , Carla Witt as Maria Imai , Tiger Darrow as Athena Imai , Jenny Smolins as Jenny Matel , Jenny Larson as Reika Aoshima , Corey Gagne as Gourou , Samantha Inoue Harte as Delmo , Arthur Tilotson as Ikebukuro and Peyton Hayslip as Sachiko. I have to say that the cast do the best with the stuff that there given but there given nothing to work with so there performances can only go so far as for the performances there fine nothing to really write home about.

I'll admit doing an anime about Cosplay does seem like a rather solid idea and about from this show I don't think it's something that's really been done in anime before. What in my opinion is a huge let down is that they don't really go into that much detail about competitive cosplay in my opinion it would have made the show more interesting if they showed the girls designing there costumes and getting ready for competitions but for some reason they don't do that.

The animation for the show was done by TNK who worked on High School DXD for it's three seasons. It's safe to say that there work on that show is far better then there work on this show because the animation in this show isn't that good but on the plus side it's not that bad either it's a strange mixture of both good and bad since for every scene that looks good and well animated there's one or two that look badly animated.

There's something that really never gets explained and it's really annoying because it involves two main characters. What they don't explain is why Delmo and Ikebukuro who are magical beings by the way the show doesn't explain why they would even want to help the Cosplay Club which at several points in the episodes becomes a key plot point so maybe the makers of the show should have put some effort into explaining that part of the story but nope they don't they don't even get one line of dialog explaining it and that's all it would have taken.

I'll admit that this show is no where near as bad as Eiken was but it's damn near close because everything that could be bad with an anime is present here but it's not as in your face with it like Eiken was. Now i'm fine with shows having the perverted character be in the main cast if they add something to the group and sadly this shows perverted character doesn't he's there just to be a pervert and that's it and that's a shame because there's so much comedic potential to be had with that kind of character but the show doesn't really go that far.

This show was only three episodes long and I think that really hurt the show in the long run since a story never had the chance to show up and there was very little chance of any character development. If the show was given say thirteen episodes yes it still would have been pretty bad but then we at least would have been given a story and the characters would have been better developed here tho as it is were left with something that feels like a half baked idea.

The show isn't all bad tho the show is labelled as an ecchi show and to the shows credit it's not as in your face about it like Eiken was. On the contrary it's actually pretty subtle I don't even think there's that many panty shots in the whole show and there's not that many boob shots either. However for some reason this show likes to have one of it's main girls hit the pervert character over the head with a large object which just isn't funny at all.

Speaking of unfunny there's alot of unfunny jokes in this show like I said there's the pervert character getting hit over the head with a large object and for some unknown reason in episode one that same character shoot beams out of his mouth and eyes which isn't funny. This show just likes to throw random stuff at you just to see what sticks and it doesn't realise that you can't do that and expect us to laugh if you want us to laugh you need to tell us something funny or have something funny happen you can't have random things happen and expect to get a laugh out of people.

Overall is this show as bad as Eiken no not by a long mile but like I said before it's damn close the issues I had with this show stem mainly from it's script and how many episodes it was given. I still have to give it a rating tho so this show gets a 3 out of 10 from me.

Drawn Together Review

Animation fans you know me I love to talk about shows that people either A) have forgotten about or B) didn't watch and well since I just reviewed the movie I figure why not take a look at the series that spawned the movie and I have to say it was a freaking chore getting through season three so here it is my review of Drawn Together.

The basic set up of the show is eight cartoon characters take part in a reality show. Honestly the best way I can describe this show is Big Brother but with cartoons and incase you couldn't work out by my summery the show has no plot line so you can watch the show from any episode and you'll know exactly who's who , what there meant to be spoofing and what kind of jokes you can expect from them.

Starring in the show was Jess Harnell as Captain Hero , James Arnold Taylor as Wooldoor , Tara Strong as Princess Clara and Toot Braunstein , Cree Summer as Foxxy Love , Jack Plotnick as Xandir , Adam Carolla as Spanky Ham , and Abbey DiGregorio as Ling-Ling. The actors in the show i'd say do the best with what there given it's just a shame that alot of the time what there given isn't that good. You can throw character development out of the window because there's very little to none of it in this show.

As you might have been able to work out from the character designs all of the characters are parodies of other cartoon characters. For example Toot is a 20's sex symbol who looks alot like Betty Boop , Clara is a spoof of every single Disney princess and ling-ling is a Pikachu spoof and in this regard the show works well because you can imagine famous cartoon characters in this series but I have to ask why didn't they just try and get permission to use the actual characters that would have made the set up and the jokes alot more funnier in my opinion.

The animation for the show was done by Rough Draft Studios who also did the animation for The Drawn Together Movie and I have to say that the animation in the movie is far better then what's seen in the show. Yes I know that the movie most likely had a higher budget then the show but still i'm not saying that the animation in the show is bad in fact for a cartoon show airing in the early 2000's it's actually pretty decent but it could and should have been so much better.

In total this show had thirty six episodes spread out over three seasons heck the first season is so short that it's taken me less then a day to get through it all. Each episode is around twenty two minuets and unlike the movie where you don't feel every single one of those minuets you feel it alot here I get that the makers of the show were trying to emulate reality TV shows but those shows are on for over an hour and thus they can afford to have several storylines going on. This show is on for twenty two minuets so at most you should have two storylines going on and they should move pretty freaking quickly.

Remember when I said the first season was short I wasn't kidding it's only seven episodes and it's the only season of the show i've seen all the way through which even then was by coincidence. The other two seasons have sixteen (season 2) and fourteen (season three) episodes respectfully and I think that was when Comedy Central starting acting a little greedy because this show works best with smaller season orders so to me they were going more for quantity over quality.

Like I just said I didn't watch all of the seasons two and three but even I could tell that the writing in season three wasn't as good as in the other seasons. I have no idea what caused the writing to take such a nose dive maybe the creators were running out of ideas or what the deal was there but they should have tried to make the writing as good as it was in that first season and it seems I wasn't the only one who thought that because even the fans of the show hated the third season.

The show ran for three seasons starting on October 27th 2004 and ending on November 14th 2007 something really odd happend in the third season tho. Since that particular season started on October 5th 2006 and it went on a nearly year long hiatus after episode seven I can't think of a single show animated or not that's taken that long of a break during the broadcast of a season and I can't really think of any reason why they went on that break so maybe there was some trouble behind the scenes that we don't know about.

One of the things i'd say the show was well known for is it's cameos because yeah there's a lot of cameos from other cartoon characters even tho the are coloured differently to avoid copyright. It was honestly shocking at how many cameos they had in the show and the cameos weren't from little known characters either they were really known cartoon characters so it's a wonder how they managed to get away with having these characters in the show.

Now many people would say that the show is more well known for it's adult humour and I can certainly see there point of view. Since there's a lot of it heck even in the first episode of the show a female character goes topless and two of the other female characters make out but here's the thing to me alot of those jokes just weren't funny since they were just there for no real reason but at least in that first season there was some jokes that made me laugh and that's something I cannot say for the third season.

I've just mentioned this but i'm going to say it again this is a an extremely adult show with a more adult jokes then you'd know what to do with. The only thing that makes this show adult is just that it's adult jokes there's nothing here that's mature on a deeper level and I think that for this show that does work and I know that's weird since I just criticised it for having adult jokes but here's the thing I wouldn't expect anything else from a show like this.

Overall I thought that this was a very enjoyable but deeply flawed series and it's one that I would recommend to people who can stomach alot of gross out humour and i'd also say don't watch this show with any parents or grandparents around either this show gets a modest but fair 5 out of 10 from me.

Some Animated Films Coming Out Next Year That I'm Looking Forward To

Animation fans i'm writing this post on New Years Eve that might not be the day when you see it so if it's New Years Day for you then Happy New Years and since I thought that since I did the exact same post a few days ago for horror films that i'd take a look at some of the animation films that we can expect to see next. Like I did with some of my favourite animated films post the films in this post will come from all walks of life so expect not only to see anime but also straight to DVD movies on here as well.

Batman: Hush

Now I have to point out that the first two films on this list aren't really confirmed for next year but they are heavily rumoured to be out next year and that's good enough for me. The first one is Batman: Hush based of the comic book of the same name now I did read the book once when I was a kid so I have a fair idea of what to expect but it's been a long time since I picked it up but I will say that i'm excited for this movie.

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines

Again this one doesn't have a confirmed release date of 2019 so if this film does get pushed back then you get bet if I do this next year this film will be on there as well. I was a huge fan of the first animated Wonder Woman movie and I really cannot believe that it's taken them this long to give her another solo animated movie I honestly thought that with the 2017 movie being a huge hit that they would have had one then but nope. As far as the storyline goes this one isn't going to be based on anything so you won't need to do any kind of homework.

Scooby-Doo! and the Curse of the 13th Ghost

Yeah i'm not going to lie when the trailer for this thing came out I flipped out like mad I remember watching 13 Ghosts growing up as a kid so for me getting a chance to revisit that storyline is pretty freaking cool and i'm a little curious to see how they explain Scrappy just because he's quite a hated character and he was a big part of that particular series.

Reign of the Supermen

OK guys this is the final direct to DVD movie on here I swear it but yeah this is the final part to the The Death Of Superman storyline and it's movie. Now i've not read the comic books that this is based on so I have no idea if this is going to be faithful or not but I can say that since they did recently release a trailer for the film this movie does look pretty decent so i'm hoping that the movie turns out to be good.

Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow

Now then you cartoon fans won't know this about me but i'm a huge Love Live fan i've seen every single season of both shows and played the game heck I even got the first season of this show on DVD for christmas. So you can bet your sweet a that i'm looking forward to this movie I love the Aqours girls and the fanboy in me wants to see them crossover with the main characters from School Idol Project.

Farmageddon: A Shaun the Sheep Movie

What more is there to say it's freaking Aardman any new film from them is worth getting excited for. Now i'll admit i'm not a big fan of Shaun The Sheep I thought the TV show started of decent and then went downhill and the movie while having some decent moments was just OK but i'll admit this movie does look pretty decent so i'll check it out the first chance I get or I might just wait until the DVD comes out.

Frozen 2

You'd have to be insane not to be excited for this film by the time I even got round to watching the first film it was getting really over hyped and that did kill the film for me but tho I think that this film right now is at the right amount of hype if that makes sense. Unlike what I did with the first film I won't be waiting years to review it i'll be taking a look at it the first chance I get so if that's opening weekend then so freaking be it and yes I have seen those Russian photos which I don't think are official since no official Disney page has picked it up.

Missing Link

It's a new movie by Laika do you guys know how freaking rare that is so of course i'm going to be super pumped for this movie. The voice cast is pretty impressive as well with the likes of Hugh Jackman and Zoe Saldana supplying voices for the film. I will say tho that the first trailer for the film didn't do the film any justice.

Doctor Who: Macra Terror

I know that i'm kind of cheating here since it's nothing new well it is technically since it's animating a missing episode of Doctor Who. This release will also be out in 2019 and since we are so close to a year without any new Doctor Who coming out we have to look to the past for any adventures and like I did with the last animated Doctor Who release I will be reviewing this when it comes out in the spring.

Toy Story 4

Now while I don't think that a fourth film even needs to be made given how freaking perfect the third one ended. I admit that I cannot be excited for this movie and that's down to the fact that I grew up with these characters so of course i'm going to be excited to see them in any new adventure be it feature length or TV special and there bringing back Bo Peep and like the Frozen 2 first look I don't think it's official since none of the official Disney or Pixar channels released it.

Ok boys and girls i'm forcing myself to end the post here because truth be told there's alot of animated films out there that i'm looking forward to seeing be it because they look really good or because they look so bad I just have to see them. Going back to Doctor Who for a second there will be an option on the DVD to view all the episodes at once so that's mainly why it's included on here I know I wasn't as clear as I perhaps should have been before and that's my bad so happy 2019 everybody.

The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie! Review

Well then animation fans I'm finally getting around to bringing a review of a movie that not that many people talk about and it's not hard to see why since the show it's based on only lasted three seasons and this movie went straight to DVD. So here is my review of the possibly underrated movie The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie!.

The basic plot of the movie is the drawn together gang find out that the show has been cancelled and decide to try and get it back on the air all the while trying to escape an evil killer robot sent to destroy them by the network head. I have to admit that I love how meta the plot of the movie is but at the same time it's still not that great of a story.

Jess Harnell as Captain Hero , Cree Summer as Foxxy Love , James Arnold Taylor as Wooldoor Sockbat , Adam Carolla as Spanky Ham , Tara Strong as Princess Clara and Toot Braunstein , Abbey DiGregorio as Ling-Ling , Jack Plotnick as Xandir P. Wifflebottom , Seth MacFarlane as I.S.R.A.E.L and Vernon Wells as The Network Head. As for what I thought about the acting considering that alot of the cast are voice acting legends the acting is honestly really freaking good.

There's alot of references to other cartoons in this movie and honestly alot of them are really funny. It honestly never occurred to me that Barney would cheat on Betty I always thought it would be the other way round but the fact that they did that kind of joke and then made it apart of the plot was a really clever and funny idea. It would have been so easy for them just to do that joke and then not bring it up ever again so I'm glad that they worked it into the story.

The animation was done by Rough Draft Korea who I'm guessing did the animation for the show altho I can't say for sure. I can say that the animation in the film was very hit and miss for me there were some scenes where the animation looked really good but then there were times when it looked pretty bad.

What I thought was impressive was how when they were mocking another cartoon the film would look like the show it was spoofing like when they make fun of The Flintstones for example it looks an episode of the show neck they might have even had some repeating backgrounds but I'm not sure on that one tho. Another great example is they have a character which is meant to be a spoof of South Park and so everytime she moves it's how the characters from South Park would move.

I'll admit that I was never that big of a fan of the show I did enjoy the overall concept of it was just never that interesting to me personally. Heck this even the second time that I've tried to review this movie the first time I just turned it of after the opening segment but this time I'm glad that I finally got to bring you this review.

The movie isn't even feature length it's just over an hour and ten minutes long and you actually don't feel it. Which was what truly shocked me because I tried to watch a few episodes of the show awhile back and I felt every single one of those twenty two minutes so to have the movie not have that issue to me works in the movies favour.

This film is full to the brim with adult jokes and to me those jokes can be funny at times but alot of the time there just there for the sake of it and aren't really that funny. What I did find funny tho are the films meta jokes like when there drowning and they get the great idea to listen to the films commentary track that to me is a funny joke. Another funny joke at least in my opinion is in Claras kingdom and how they make all of the people there look like there from a Disney movie.

Overall I can see why people don't enjoy this film as much but in my opinion it is a rather funny film that's full of funny jokes. Guys and girls I know that my reviews haven't been as crazy detailed as they have been in the past and that's because I'm having issues with getting the internet on my laptop it's fine every where else tho and this film gets a 6 out 10 from me.

Fireworks Dub Review

Why hello there anime fans you've seen alot of the films i've reviewed they've all been rather good haven't they well today i've done it i've found the one anime film that dares to be bad. I want you guys to know that when I posted I was reviewing this film I got alot of comments telling me how bad it was I really should have listened to those people so here is my review of Fireworks oh freaking joy.

Now at this point I would normally rant on about what I thought of the films story and give you a summery of the plot of film. Well this film wanted to be kind to me because it doesn't have one i'm not even kidding I watched the whole thing beginning to end and I have no idea what the heck the story is you might as well call this film stuff happens : the anime and it would make just as much sense.

Now since I got this film on DVD (it was a Christmas present) i'll be basing this review on the dubbed version of the movie. As such staring in the film is Brookyln Nelson as Nazuna Oikawa , Ryan Shanahan as Norimichi Shimada , Aaron Dalla VIlla as Yusuke Azumi , Julie Ann Taylor as Nazuna's mother , Laurie Hymes as Miura , Griffin Puatu as Junichi , Andrew Lent as Kazuhiro and Aiden Raheb as Minoru.

Guys and girls don't worry if you've not heard of these actors I haven't either and after there performances in this film I really don't want to. Just based of what i've just said you can take a guess as to what I thought about the acting because it's honestly not that bad the issue is however the cast aren't given anything to work with. None of the characters are interesting or even likable in fact the one word you can use to describe the characters is card board cut outs there all just card board cut outs who have no personality.

The animation for the film was done by Studio Shaft who have worked on shows such as March Comes in Like a Lion and Dance in the Vampire Bund among many others and they have worked on some films as well. So after all the bashing i've just given the film you'd think that I hated the animation well truth be told the animation is perhaps the best thing in the whole film and that really is saying something because the animation isn't that good but it's better then the acting and it's a damn sight better then the plot.

I'm not going to lie and say that the animation is perfect because it's not infact there are times where the animation just looks weird. A good example of that would be when the two main leads are at a train station and the girl is changing clothes for some reason the animation on her getting changed looks really weird and I don't know why that is.

In the UK this film is rated 15 which means no one under the age of fifteen can see it and for the life of me I have no idea why that is. Outside of the opening few scenes there's nothing in this film which screams a 15 rating and i'll admit when I first saw that rating on the cover I thought that this going to be a mature anime boy oh boy was I wrong.

In fact I think the only reason this film was given a 15 rating was because in the opening a group of friends talk about boobs and that's it. It's also due to that conversation that I think this film was made by horny forty year old men trying to connect with horny fourteen year old boys and so instead of focusing on making a great film they instead put all there focus on energy on a conversation about boobs.

I distinctly remember the trailer for this film and while it did hint at a romance angel for the film it didn't hint at a time travel element. That was one of two things that cought me of guard about the film (i'll talk about the other one soon) it comes out of know where it's not set up at all and due to the very nature of the film the time travel element plays no part on the story it's just there for the sake of being there and that was really annoying.

This movie is ninety minuets long this film should have only been thirty minuets long there's honestly nothing in this film which means it should be a feature length story. After I saw the film I went on to some streaming sites just to see what People were saying about the film and to my horror there was a few people giving this film a nine out of ten and I have to wonder did we watch the same film because the film I watched wasn't a nine out of ten i'm not going to say what it is because that'll ruin it but it's not that high.

Now then the other thing that really caught me of guard was the fact that for no reason what so ever this film decides to have a musical number in it. and just like the time travel element it adds nothing to the story. I'm not even kidding the main sings one song once and it's never brought up again for the rest of the film and i'm sat here thinking what's the point in having it in the final film you can just have the girl say she can sing and that scene would work just as well there's literally no need to have the song in the film at all.

Overall this film is trying to be many things and it fails at all of them even the romance angel which is set up from the beginning just doesn't work when you introduce the time travel element and the whole film falls apart when you make the main female character sing for no reason. So with all of that in mind the film is getting a 3 out of 10 from me.
