Doctor Who: The Savages Review

Missing episodes and Doctor Who are things that go arm in arm with each other and while thankfully there are alot less missing episodes of the show then there was even ten years ago the fact does still remain that there are alot of episodes still missing. However thankfully the BBC have taken steps to rectify this by animating the episodes that are missing such is the case with the episode that i'm going to be talking to you all about today and so then join me as I review the episode that sees a companion leave the show with the episode in question being called simply just "The Savages" enjoy.

The plot of this episode when The Doctor , Steven and Dodo arrive on a random planet in the far future they have to help some cavepeople who are having there lifeforce drained from them by people who live in the city. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty OK at best. One of the things that the episode does get alot of hate for is it's plot and it is super easy to see why as this episodes plot is thin at best as while there is good idea for a plot there the final execution of that plot does leave alot to be desired. However to be fair tho you can see the potential in this episodes plot as the idea of having the typical heroes of the city people now be the bad guys of the story is one that does make for a good but the episode doesn't really do anything with that idea rather due to the fact that the episode doesn't focus on that idea all that much it instead does feel like an afterthought and sadly the same is true for alot of the plot elements that the episode either sets up at the start but drops for no reason or introduces in the final five minuets of the final episode, this episodes plot is one that could have been so much more better as it did have the right ingredients for a good story it just needed to be executed and pulled off alot more better with the plot of this episode not really being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is William Hartnell as The Doctor , Peter Purves as Steven Taylor and Jackie Lane as Dodo Chaplet. Also starring in this episode is Ewen Solon as Chal , Patrick Godfrey as Tor , Peter Thomas as Captain Edal , Geoffrey Frederick as Exorse , Frederick Jaeger as Jano , Robert Sidaway as Avon , Kay Patrick as Flower , Clare Jenkins as Nanina , Norman Henry as Senta and Edward Caddick as Wylda.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. The episodes acting is alot more better then the plot of the episode due to the fact that it does feel like that the actors in this episode are trying there best to turn in a good performance something which is helped by the fact that this episode was directed by Christopher Barry with it being made clear as day that he does know how to get a good performance out of his actors a skill which does come in handy interms of this episode. With the best actor in the whole entire episode being Peter Purves as Steven Taylor due to the fact that he does get to show us just what it is that he can do as an actor in this episode we get to see him being dramatic and we get to see him being funny and we get to see him playing the action man role and he pulls it all off with you being able to believe that Steven could do all of these things and that en some and it's something that makes you wonder why even the last episode "The Gunfighters" didn't take advantage of this a s they had the right set up for him to be the action man type character. With the acting that's in this very episode not really being helped but the fact that this episodes script is just so bad as it gives none of this episodes actors anything to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Try as I might but there is no animation company listed for this episode either in the credits of the episode or anywhere online. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that good. To be frank here this episodes animation wasn't that good as everything just had this weird striped back look to it with there being no details in either the characters faces on in the backgrounds with this on whole making the animation look cheap even when compared to other Doctor Who animations. Heck alot of the time when the characters are walking they are shown only from the waist up as that way the animators don't have to animate the characters legs but when they do show them walking in a full body shot it does look really good with there being a clear amount of passion put into those shots but it's the overall cheap looking animation that really does bring this episode down as while these animations have always been made cheaply and quickly here it felt like they were pushing that one step to far as there was a severe lack of detail to make things stand out alot of the time and while the characters do have some fluid movements to them in full body shots when where moving from the waist up they look like poorly down South Park characters, to be fair the characters mouth movements do look really good which is something that was quite shocking as that has always been really hard to for these Doctor Who animations to get right and while they don't get it right all of the time in this episode when compared to how bad the overall animation is the mouth movements do come as looking really good by comparison.

Sadly like alot of classic Doctor Who for it's first six years this episode is entirely missing from the BBC. With the only way that this episode was animated due to the fact that the sound for the episode does still exist and out of all of the episodes that should be found and hopefully quickly this one isn't really one that people need to go out of their way to find as yes it is a companion departure episode and those are always must watch episodes but outside of that there really isn't much of a need to this episode as it was originally intended this isn't to say that it wouldn't be nice to view the episode as it was meant to be seen as of course of it would but it's just that there are other more better and important stories out there that not only have no animated reconstruction but are also missing. Granted there is no way that the BBC is going to animated the whopping twelve part "The Daleks Master Plan" just due to how much time that they need to spend just on that serial but they could do something like "The Highlanders" or even "The Massacre Of St Bartholomew's Eve" as both of those episodes are only four episodes long and therefor could theoretically be done in the same time frame that it took for them to do this episode or even "Marco Polo" which does have the audio from the episode still there and yet time and time again the BBC are instead choosing to do the episodes that no one is really asking for which is still good as it does mean that we are still getting close to having all of Classic Doctor Who to watch in someway shape or form it's just that it would be nice if they did take the time to give the fans some of the episodes that they've been asking for to throw us a curve ball and give us an episode that we didn't think that they'd do for whatever reason.

Perhaps one of the only genuine good things that the episode does is flip the whole cavepeople vs city people trope on it's head. As usually its the cavepeople that are the bad guys and the city people the good guys but there they do somewhat flip that on it's head but by having he city people really be the villains of the episode and yet while they really are indeed meant to be the villains of the episode what they do isn't necessarily done out of malice rather really it's done due to the fact that they don't have the basic understanding of right and wrong due to the fact that they've really been sucking the lifeforce out of the cavepeople for generations now and therefor they really do believe themselves to be the good guys. Yet in saying this tho members of both groups have people who are good and who are at best questionable with this being something that makes neither side but also neither side is wrong as both groups do find it hard to trust the other due to what they've each put each other through this makes the scene where Nanina shows compassion to the guard Exorse all the more impactful as she is able to get to him to do the right thing not be giving him a long and boring speech but by showing basic compassion and showing him kindness when she stops Tor from killing him this one act of basic human kindness does go along way into showing that both sides can stop there fighting and can trust each other if they are willing to stop and listen to what the other is trying to tell them. the fact that this episode in it's own way doesn't have a central villain as there's no evil alien trying to take over a world in this episode it is something that does make this episode stand out from all of the other episodes of this show as nine times out of ten they do have an evil Alien and yet here there's none of that rather there's just two tribes learning to communicate and to trust each other.

As was mentioned earlier on in this review this is the episode where Steven does leave the show and to be frank his departure does come out of nowhere. As they only set up the idea of him leaving the show to be the bridge between the cave and city people within the last five minuets of the show and that's it when a companion leaving the show should always have there departure set up at best at the start of the episode as then when it does happen at the end of the episode it doesn't come out of nowhere this is not to say tat those kinds of departures can't work as if it's a character death it is something that does work but here it was just him leaving the TARDIS alive and well therefor his departure is something that could have been built into the episodes plot alot more better then what it was outside of having it be set up and payed of in the final five minuets of the episode. With the character only leaving due to the fact that the BBC chose not to renew Peter Purves's contract and with them having a new producer in Innes Lloyd and the fact that both William Hartnell and Jackie Lane where leaving the show any way it made no sense for them to keep him on the thing was the actor wasn't given much in the way of notice before hand and clearly neither way this episodes writer Ian Stuart Black as the characters departure is handled very quickly when it's something that should been worked up to like for example what they did with Victoria in "Fury From The Deep" where they spend alot of the episode telling us that she wants to leave the TARDIS and find somewhere to call home therefor when she does decide to leave at the end of that episode it doesn't come out of nowhere and feels more baked into the episodes plot where as here it felt like something that was made up five minuets before filming with the departure feeling more like an afterthought in the episode.

Now then whilst I cannot for the absolute life of me remember what this episodes grand total running time even was I do know that for a fact that this episode roughly has a grand total running time of roughly one hour and thirty minuets. With the episode itself being four episodes long which for this kind of story is the right amount of episodes for this story to last as there is no way that you could get this episode up to even just one more episode without stretching an already thin story even thinner as this is something that would result in there being alot of filler scenes and while yes granted we could also get some character scenes if this episode did have more episodes it would end up adding nothing to the episodes plot with this episode having the right amount of plot to really cover that amount of running time in the first place. Yet even so this episode really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely due to the fact that this episode doesn't fully develop its plot which is something that it would gave been able to do if there was just one more episode to story but again in saying this there would be no way to do that with out there being alot of filler and with the episode being light on story this might be a case where having fewer episodes might help the episode out with the makers of this episode putting more thought and effort into making Steven look like an action hero then they did in giving the plot some actual plot development. The same thing is also true for the episodes character development as while it could be argued that The Doctor , Dodo and Steven don't really need character development in this episode due the fact that they might have gotten it in previous episodes the episodes guest characters n the other hand most certainly did need that development as we know just as much abut them all coming out of the episode then we did coming into the episode with the makers of this episodes putting more thought and effort into getting rid of The Doctor in the shows third episode then they did into giving the episodes characters some much needed character development but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. The episodes action was alt more better then what it really should have been as classic Doctor Who especially in the sixties wasn't really known for having good action in it as the show was made cheaply and quickly but even so you can tell that there was some amount of effort put into making this episodes action be as good as it possibly could have been and whilst yes it could have been better in some places for sixties Doctor Who this episodes action was about as good as it was ever going to get. With the best action scene in the whole entire episode being when The Doctor , Steven , Dodo and a good bunch of the cave people and some of the city people destroy all of the machines that the city people used to drain the lifeforce out of the cavepeople as even tho all it is is people hitting machines it is something that does look really good and it is something that is as well animated as it was very going to be heck given that the episode did some filming at Ealing Film Studios it wouldn't be all surprising if this scene was filmed there as it does seem like the kind of scene that they would film at Ealing rather then at Riverside Studio 1 which would have been where alot of the episode would have been filmed as there's just to many things to take into account for it to filmed at anywhere other then Ealing with the rest of the episodes action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall yeah this episode isn't that good but you can see the potential in thee for a decent story in there as all it needed was either more time spent on the script or a better writer to bring that decent story out of it and that's it as it sis all there for a good Doctor Who episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review ell then boys and girls and as well as ladies an gentlemen I personally got all of the images hat I personally used in this very review from Amazon . Co . Uk , Wikipedia , Tardis . Wiki and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very episode that I used in this very post being the really great Google Images really simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not really all of the images that are all really from this very episode with alot of them really being really better quality then what you'd really think of and all of the images are really of course up and really on Google Images really are also really all fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.

Captain Caveman And The Teen Angels: The Kooky Case Of The Cryptic Keys Review

Scooby-Doo was a very popular show back in the sixties and when Hanna-Barbera found something that worked they ripped it off alot. Hence why we suddenly got alot of mystery shows from them with one of them being Captain Caveman And The Teen Angels with this show even going as far as to be created by the creators of Scooby-Doo and well I thought that i'd check out the first episode of this show and so then join me as I review the episode that introduced us to the worlds first caveman superhero with the episode in question being called simply just "The Kooky Case Of The Cryptic Keys" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when they are on a road trip Captain Caveman and his friends have to solve a mystery when a woman gives them a mysterious key. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. With the episodes plot right away letting you know that it's a Scooby-Doo clone even down to have the teens driving to someplace that teens in the seventies would do in this case it's going on a road trip and much like with Scooby-Doo they only get stopped from doing that when there's a mystery to solve. Look to be fair if something does work then why not try and repeat that formular to create another hit product the issue is tho is that this episodes plot is so on the nose with what it is that it's ripping off that it robs the show and the episode of it's own identity when this episodes plot would have been alot more better if it was allowed to just be it's own thing or at the very last be a bit more subtle about what show it is tat it's meant to be ripping of in the first place as then we the audience would be able to get a bit more engrossed in this episodes plot without being reminded of another and quite frankly better show and heck the episodes plot isn't even that strong of a plot as before the episode really has a chance to get going the plot is already starting with this episode being the first first episode of the show there really should have been more of a stronger plot to start this show out on just to get it going in the right direction with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Mel Blanc as Captain Caveman , Laurel Page as Taffy Dare and Marilyn Schreffler as Brenda Chance. Also starring in this episode is Vernée Watson as Dee Dee Skyes , John Astin as Additional Voices , Julie Bennett as Additional Voices , Ted Cassidy as Additional Voices , Henry Corden as Additional Voices . Stefanianna Christopherson as Additional Voices , Micky Dolenz as Additional Voices , Joan Gerber as Additional Voices , Florence Halop as Additional Voices , Pat Harrington Jr. as Additional Voices , Hettie Lynne Hurtes as Additional Voices , Nicole Jaffe as Additional Voices , Ann Jillian as Additional Voices , Casey Kasem as Additional Voices , Jim MacGeorge as Additional Voices , Julie McWhirter as Additional Voices , Don Messick as Additional Voices , Heather North as Additional Voices , Gary Owens as The Narrator , Vic Perrin as Additional Voices , Alan Reed as Additional Voices , Mike Road as Additional Voices , Ronnie Schell as Additional Voices , Hal Smith as Additional Voices , John Stephenson as Additional Voices , Susan Steward as Additional Voices , Jean Vander Pyl as Additional Voices , Janet Waldo as Additional Voices , Frank Welker as Additional Voices and William Woodson as Additional Voices.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. With all of the actors that are playing named characters turning in a really good performance in this episode and really being alot more better then what a show like this really did deserve as by all rights no one in this episode should have turned in a good performance as the episode and show doesn't really demand a good performance and yet that's exactly what they all gave us and is something that does stand out in this episode. Wit the best actor in the whole entire episode being Mel Blanc as Captain Caveman this is something that really shouldn't come as surprise to anybody as it's Mel Blanc for crying out loud of course he's going to turn in a good performance as he is THE voice acting legend for a reason with him turning in a really good and fun performance in this episode that yes could have been a little bit more better but that's more due to the how the character of Captain Caveman talks more then his performance as there's only so much that you can do as an actor when your character doesn't speak whole sentences with his own natural charm and charisma really coming through in this episode. With the acting that's in this very episode not really being helped buy the fact that this episodes script is just so bad as it gives none of this episodes actors absolutely anything to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Hanna-Barbera Productions. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. This episodes animation was a bit shall we say rough at times as there are times when the characters have some weird faces especially more towards the start of the episode with it feeling like that the makers of this episode just didn't care enough to go back and fix some simple mistakes. As there are a few errors in this episode like for example there as a scene where Taffy goes from being a blonde to being a red head back to being a blonde again and while she is given red hair later on in the episode that is something that is apart of the plot of the episode but when it happens earlier on in the episode it is something that does come out of nowhere and is a huge animation error as the intro does show show you with her typical blonde here this is something that could very easily and quickly could have been fixed as it's on screen for less then a few seconds and yet no one who was involved with the making of the show bothered to fix it there is another error as well also featuring Taffy where she speaks with Dee Dee's voice but in all fairness when the animation wants to be good it is something that does look good with all of the grounds dripping with gothic atmosphere and looking really nice to look at.

It really does go without saying that this show is a straight up Scooby-Doo clone even down to the fact that the characters travel in a van. Heck this episode even premiered during the Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics block and was apart of that block until this show ended with the only thing that makes this show stand out all that much from all of the Scooby-Doo clones out is the fact that the creators of Scooby-Doo created this show and to be fair they did do there best to try and make it stand out on it's own as having a caveman be the main character of the show is something that Scooby-Doo never did and even going as far as to also make him the comic relief character is something that does make this episode feel fresh but yeah it is hard to deny the fact that this show is just a more dumbed down version of Scooby-Doo Where Are You. Even the episodes title mystery can't be that good due to the fact that this show has alot more shorter of a running time then what the average episode of Scooby-Doo has when a mystery show really dies need a more longer running time in order for the mystery to come across as being good and while it's not that bad of a mystery the episode can't really give us any clues as to whom wants these keys and why an therefor is forced to spell out it us when it's something that would have worked all the more better if we the audience was given the time that we need to work out for ourselfs just who this episodes main villain is meant to be instead of just being told who it is as half the fun of a mystery is working it out for yourself but in all fairness to this episode given the fact that the show itself would have had to fit in several other shows in the same block it would have been impossible to do this episode justice without first changing just how long the block itself is going to be one for.

To this episodes defense the mystery itself isn't that bad as the idea of the teens and Captain Caveman having to work out who wants these keys and why is a very good idea. However the issue is tho is that due to how short the episodes are the mystery itself can't be that well developed as the episode has to rush to the next plot point and when it does that it dies mean that that something is going to be getting left behind which in the case of this episode is the mystery and when this is a mystery show and this is the first episode that is the one that really shouldn't have been getting dropped as that's something that is going to get audiences coming back to watch the next episode and yet due to the episodes mystery being about as are bones as it can get there is no reason to watch more of episodes this is despite the fact that the show itself does have a really good hook to it. With the episode just rushing from one plot point to the next it does mean that things like giving us clues as to whom the villain is is something that does get dropped from the show as the makers of this episode don't bother to show us that part yet that is the most important part of a mystery we don't need t have a transition every few seconds but what we do need is more fleshed out mystery and yet the mystery itself is left feeling underbaked heck you could even make the case for the episodes central mystery is feeling like a side character to everything else in the episode something which it could also be argued is true for Captain Caveman altho to be fair in that regard the episode does have an in story reason for him not showing up to help the girls out until the end that being the fact that they've asked him to watch over the key that they were given at the start of the episode.

The one thing that was super annoying in this episode is the fact that in the space of about thirty seconds to a minuet the show had several transition scenes. With them not even cutting to another scene alot of the time as sometimes they are cutting to characters further down a ladder just taking and it was super annoying to see happening as all it does is make the episode look unfinished almost as if the makers of this episode ran out of time to animate alot of the episode and therefor just chose to add in a lazy transition to cover up the fact that there was nothing there which given that this is a Hanna-Barbera show very well could have been the case but here it was just so annoying to watch as it was taking up time that could have been spent on fleshing out the episodes mystery and in giving us things that would have made the mystery alot more fun to watch. Look in all fairness this is an episode that was always going to have an uphill battle due to the fact that it is nothing mor then a Scooby-Doo clone but when your making that uphill battle even steeper your just dooming the show to fail and become obscure which is exactly what happened to this show as while the show did indeed get three seasons which is no small feat on it's own it's also a show that no one talks about and heck alot of people think that Captain Caveman started out as a Flintstone Kids character due to the fact that he appeared on that show but if the makers of this show did help this episode out by easing up on the transitions then it would have freed up time for the makers of this episode to make the mystery more interesting and yet due to how many transitions there are in the episode and how annoying that they are it does mean that the episodes mystery does end up suffering because of it.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly eleven minuets and thirty four seconds. Which to be to this episode is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this show to have as the show would air it's episodes pretty much in segments however even so tho this is an episode that really could have done with being the standard twenty minuets as this is the first episode of the show and therefor you dp want to start the show of on the strongest foot possible and what better to do that then by giving the episode an extended running time and yet for one reason or another the makers of this episode thought that having the show come it at just over eleven minuets was the right move however tho this episode does have the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place. Yet this episode still doesn't use its running time all that wisely as the episode really doesn't take the time to fully develop its plot as the episode does have to rush alot of it's plot inorder to cram everything in whereas if the episode was a little bit longer then it would have allowed for the episodes plot to fully breathe and it would have allowed room for there to be things added to the episodes mystery that would have made that aspect of the episode even more better with the makers of this episode putting in more thought into the episodes pointless transitions then they did into giving the plot some much needed plot development. This is something that does also effect the characters character development altho in this case you could also make the point that none of other Hanna-Barbera character get any kind if character development and therefor it wouldn't have made sense for the characters in this episode to get any which is fair enough but it still would have been nice if the characters did get some small amount of character development tho but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy tat's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / resented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Heck the episodes comedy is alot more better then the rest of the episode tho as there is alot of thought and effort put into making the comedy be as good as it could be this is despite the fact that we do get alot of the same gags from other classic Hanna-Barbera shows like for example when the teens are driving on a bumpy road Captain Caveman literally bounced out of his house on top of the van but he lands softly on the floor which is a good gag but it's also one that they've done quite a few times. With the best joke in the whole entire episode being at the start of the episode when Captain Caveman goes to chase down the lady that gave them the key he starts to fly only to quite literally run of steam and land head first into a long which is a good and simple gag that it does end up working and this is where the episodes comedy works really well when it's doing these simple character driven jokes and not repeating something that we've seen done before now as this is when we get to see the creativity behind the show and get a good idea of just how fun and wacky that a show like this could have been with it being helped by the fact that the joke itself was really well animated and does oddly enough feel like a tamer version of some classic Tom And Jerry jokes on top of that with the rest of the episodes comedy being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst this episode did have all of the potential in the world to be a really good first episode its lack of a stronger plot and the fact that it doesn't take the time to fully flesh out its titular mystery are tings that do end up holding the episode back and stop it from being as good as it really could have been in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and aw ell as all of the bad things that are in his very episode in this very review and a such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boy and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Hanna-Barbera Wiki . Com , Amazon . Co . Uk and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very episode that I used in this very post being the really great Hanna-Barbera Wiki . Com really simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not really all of the images that are all really from this very episode with alot of them really being really better quality then what you'd really think of and all of the images are really of course up and really on Hanna-Barbera Wiki . Com really are also really all fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.

My SPOILER FILLED First Impressions Of Visionquest

Marvel right now have been doing fairly well it comes to there new movies with Spider-Man: Brand New Day being perhaps the best selling Spider-Man of all time. There it only makes sense that they try and do the same thing with there shows however in order for that to happen they have to actually promote there shows something which they haven't done with the show that i'm going to be talking to you all about today and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED first impressions of the show that sees one trilogy come to a close with the show in question being called simply just "Visionquest" enjoy.

The plot of these episodes is Vision finds his secluded live style under threat when someone tries to assassinate him. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. The plot in these first two episodes was to be frank a really good one as we not only get a really good idea of what Vision has been up to since we last saw him in Wandavision but we also get a good idea of that is at stake for this character with the plot doing a good job of feeling epic but on a Tv show scale. Plot wise where these episodes do somewhat start to fail is in the fact that not alot about what this new version of Vision has been up is explained all that well and the things that do get explained have to no relevance in the episodes plot with even the plot of the first episode taking a good while to rally get going but that is something that is understandable as the first episode does have alot of plot to set up in the first place something which of course isn't the case for episode two which does have it's own problems plot namely being the fact that not alot actually happens plot wise in that episode with the episode not really focusing that much on plot but rather on telling a characters backstory which this early into the show wasn't needed as we should still be getting plot for the show whereas a backstory episode for this show very easily could be around episode three maybe episode four with the plot of these episodes also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in these episodes is this shows executive producer Paul Bettany as White Vision and James Spader as Ultron. Also starring in these episodes is Ruaridh Mollica as Thomas Shepherd , Todd Stashwick as Paladin , Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari , Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y. , Diane Morgan as Handler , Polly Frame as Fiona Guthrie , Henry Lewis as Dum-E , Jonathan Sayer as U , Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H. , Ben Crompton as Clancy  and James D'Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S..

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. The fact that these episodes have some really good acting in them was something that was both surprising and yet at the same time not entirely surprising it's surprising in that the episodes do have alot of what are to Americans alot of unknown names and faces in them but in saying this this is is why it's also not that surprising as those unknown names and faces are fairly well known names over here in the UK with of course the episodes more established actors also turning in some really good performances in there own right. With the best actor in these first two episodes without a shadow of a doubt being Paul Bettany as White Vision as he does have alot of scenes in both of these first two episodes alone that remind of us why he was such a good actor prior to joining the MCU as he does the impossible and that's make you feel something for a robot this is something that is very hard to do as robots be design are not meant to have emotion or show you emotion and that's something that he does really well in both of these episode and heck it wouldn't be all that surprising if at somepoint in the near future he was nominated for an award for his acting in these two episodes alone as he is just that good with his own natural charm and charisma really shining through in these episodes. With the acting that's in these first two episodes really being helped by the fact that the scripts for these episodes are so good that all these episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in these episodes.

Doing the CGI for these episodes is unknown as there are no effects companies listed anywhere on the shows IMDB page. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. With both of the episodes having some really good CGI in them as while of course the effects in these episodes won't look anywhere near as good as the effects in the movies they do still look really good with the episodes only really using CGI when they have to and not because they can do. This is something that does make the episodes effects alot more better as now they have something there on the set to be better blended with and it is something that is actually becoming more and more common place in marvel shows where alot of them are having more practical effects and doing things for real then they are having CGI animated effects in them and it's something that will always look so much more better especially taking into account that alot of the characters in these first two episodes are robots which is somethin that will always require some amount of CGI work done to make them look good and even Ultron who does appear in his robot form in episode one does look really good again tho he's not going to look as good as he did in Age Of Ultron but that's just because of the fact that that film had the budget t make him look good whereas this show has to spread it's effects budget across eight episodes.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This show is meant to be the conclusion of a trilogy of a shows that started back with Wandavision altho it technically should be a quadrilogy as the storyline was also continued in Doctor Strange And The Multiverse of Madness. With these first two episodes even revealing that Thomas Shepherd is actually Tommy Maximoff with it being revealed that at some point after the events of Agatha All Along he pretty much started to believe that Wanda and Vision aren't his real parents with him even seeing Vision as more of a nightmarish character and whilst the reveal of him being Tommy was good hook to end episode one one as it does make you want to watch the next episode this is the kind of reveal that might have worked better more towards the middle and end of the series and not at the start of the series as unless the makers of this show are going to pull an amazing twist of with this character there's not really all that much that they can do with him now as a character other then have him bond with Vision in the real world. Which in all fairness was something that the show would have done anyways regardless of when the reveal happened but that big twist of him being Tommy would have worked all the more if it was more towards the end of the show as then we would have had the chance to see some hints as to who he might be and it would have given us the audience the chance to make theories on who he might be instead of just having it said out loud by Tommy himself, however tho in saying this it is understandable as to why this big reveal happened here in episode one as it does give you a good hook for episode two and it does make you want to watch that next episode which is something that a good first episode should do and to be far episode two does follow up on this really well even having Vision rescue Tommy from Paladin's hands at the end of the episode.

Whilst interms of action episode two is easily the better of the two episodes interms of plot and character episode one is the better of the two episodes. This is something that is kind of understandable as the first episode does have alot of things to set up and therefor it does have to spend alot of time on the plot and alot of the characters whereas with episode two the makers of this show can just leap into the good stuff knowing full well that we would have seen the first episode which is fair enough as episode two was released at the same time as episode one but it still would have been nice if we did get more plot given t us in the second episode as all we get is Tommy's backstory and how he and possible love interest Lisa Molinari first met and escaped a prison bus together which was nice to see as Lisa Molinari does seem like a fun character. However it was something that wasn't needed this early on in the series as those scenes don't give us anything new in regards to plot that just show us what Tommy has mostly been up to since the last time we saw him and that's it and heck they don't reveal anything interesting about his character in those scenes other then the fact that he has powers which was something that we already knew thanks to Wandavision but in all fairness they did need to have Lisa find out that he had powers and having it be when there trying to escape the prison bus and a borderline abusive guard is something that does make sense but we don't get to see those powers play a part of the main plot of episode two which makes you wonder why that scene was even included in the first place as if it's to set up that he does have these powers then why not set it up an episode or two before he uses them in the main plot as now odds are we are going to forget that he has them by the time that he gets around to using them in the shows main plot.

Much like with the release of Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord this show will be doing two episode drops a week until episode six as then the final two episodes will release one a week. To be frank this does feel like Disney+ is very slowly getting ready to just drop entire seasons of a show in one sitting as they've just released Coven Academy's first twenty one episode season in one go but that kind of drop was done on Freeform when it came to there own streaming service and Hulu the episodes where then cut down and edited into a ten episode season which was still released all in one go heck they even released Vampirina: Teenage Vampire's second season all in one go and while this is fine for something like Netflix of Apple TV for Disney+ you do expect the drops to be weekly as your not going to get the whole family to sit down and watch an entire season of a show in one sitting. With this being a show that is better released one episode at a time as then it would give us the audience a chance to theorize about what's going to happen next and while this is something that can still happen due to the amount of episodes that are being dropped it's not something that can have the same amount of impact as it would have if it was just one episode a week with a good way to do this for this show and to give the show a good hook for episode two being if the episode ended right before it was revealed who Thomas really was as that way us the audience could spend the entire week guessing in who he might be with this having the added benefit of making the numbers for Disney+ be up higher for alot more longer something which might have happened with Daredevil: Born Again.

Now then episode one of this show has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly fifty three minuets and twenty one seconds with episode two having a grand total running time of exactly forty five minuets and six seconds. To be frank it is quite hard to fully judge the running time of either episode as both of them do have a decent amount of running time but you do feel that running time alot in the early parts of episode one just due to show much plot is being thrown at you whereas with episode it does feel like that that episode really could have been alot more shorter as outside of the death of J.A.R.V.I.S. there really isn't much of a reason to go back and watch that episode with both episodes having more then enough plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place. Yet despite both of these episodes having some really good running times to them neither of episodes uses there running time wisely as neither episode takes the time to fully develop thete plot this is something that does make some sense as these are only the first two episodes of the show but given the fact that this show is just eight episodes long there really does need to be plot development happening either in episode two or at the latest episode three as it would be far to late to start it after that as alot of people would have switched the show of if the show isn't leading anywhere good plot wise with the makes of this show putting more thought into redeeming Ultron then they did into giving either episode some plot development. The same thing is also true for the episodes character development altho to be fair they have started to lay the groundwork for Tommy fully trusting Vision as he does come to rescue a beaten up and ear dead Vision at the end of the second episode and while characters like Vision , Ultron and J.A.R.V.I.S. don't really need character development as they have the other films and shows to get there character development none of the shows new characters get any kind of character development with the makers of this show being more focused on fitting in as many UK comedy actors as they can then they in giving the characters character development but I really will admit that these episodes really do have some really good pacing to them tho.

So now then as this is an actin show that really does mean that I have to actually talk abut the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well ten in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty not that. The action in both of these episodes whilst it's not bad it's also not as good as the action was in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 due to the fact that outside of two action scenes in the second episode the maskers of this show do cut away from the action alot of the time which granted is a good way to save on budget but in saying this this is an action show therefor we want to see the action and just just the start and end of it. With the best action scene in both of these episodes being the scene in episode two where version has to rescue Tommy from a mental hospital that Paladin has him captured in as we get to see Vision just mow through all of Paladin's men like there paper and yet when he does get to Tommy that's when the real trap is sprung as it's revealed that the room Tommy is in basically a giant EMP room and is shutting down all of Visions systems with it only being then that Paladin shows up and starts shooting at Vision with adamantium rounds with it only being when J.A.R.V.I.S. sacrifices himself that Vision is able to escape Paladin that is such a good action scene as it does does show us what this version of Vison can do and how he differs from the Vision that we had in the movies as this one is more ruthless and is willing to kill people whereas the original Vision would at first try to talk you down and then failing that would then and only then hurt you with the rest of the episodes action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall both of these first two episodes are alot more better then the entirety of Lanterns simply because of the fact that things actually happen in these episodes yet at the same time tho neither episode is perfect as they both lack the very thing that the other has with both of them still being perfectly enjoyable episodes in there own right in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in these very episodes in this very post and with this jus being my first impressions of the show I won't be giving a rating however if i'm still watching the show when the final episode is released i'll do a review of the show as a whole.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very post well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very post from the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from these very episodea that I used in this very post being the really great Google Images really simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not really all of the images that are all really from these very episodes with alot of them really being really better quality then what you'd really think of and all of the images are really of course up and really on Google Images really are also really all fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.

Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Rifftrax Experiments "Sting Of Death" Review

Mystery Science Theater 3000 is now officially back after Joels failed attempt to get funding secured for a fourteenth season. The guys over at Rifftrax have picked up the slack and have just released the first of four brand new MST3K episodes that all starring Mike Nelson as the host and the first one has just been released and well this is something that i've been dying to see for some time therefor I had to check it out the first chance that I got and so then join me as I review the episode that is technically the first MST3K big screen movie release since Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie with the episode in question being called simply just "Sting Of Death" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is roughly thirty years since he , Tom , Crow and Gypsy all returned to Earth Mike finds himself once again stuck in space with Tom and Crow being forced to watch movies by Pearl Forrester. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's a actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Look to be frank plots for this show are usually really thin as there just served as an excuse for them to get to the movie that there watching in that particular episode which in this case is "Sting Of Death" with the plot and situation usually being explained away in the shows opening intro. However tho this episodes plot actually wasn't half bad as while yes it is on the thin side of things it was still fun seeing these characters again only thirty years older with the episode having a really solid plot and while first episodes for the show are nine times out of ten usually plot heavy as they do explain why the characters are in the situation that there in with the same thing also being true for when there's a new host here they didn't really need to do that as the host wasn't a new character it was someone that people have been wanting to see more off for literally decades now and therefor having a more thinner plot was something that does make sense altho it would have helped if they did have a more stronger plot just to get these new episodes off to a really stronger start with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is this episodes co-writer Michael J. Nelson as Mike Nelson and this episodes co-writer , producer and director Kevin Murphy as Tom Servo and Professor Bobo. Also starring in this episode is this episodes co-writer Bill Corbett as Crow T. Robot as Brain Guy , Mary Jo Pehl as Pearl Forrester , Patrick Brantseg as A Cheese Factory Employee , Beez McKeever as A Cheese Factory Employee and Jef Maynard as A Cheese Factory Employee.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's a actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. To be frank alot of the actors in this very episode do know full well that there acting is going to be treated that seriously as the show itself is not known for having great acting in it rather it's just known for poking fun at some really bad movies and that's and with this in mind this episodes acting does come off as being really good with all of the leads in the episode having some wonderful chemistry together is something that does make alot of sense as they all do Rifftrax together. With the best actor in this episode being Michael J. Nelson as Mike Nelson as he is just so lovable in this role with him not really being afraid to make fun of himself which is something that alot of actors wouldn't do and with him being a writer on these new episodes it would have been very easy for him to remove lines that make of fun him and yet he kept them in and led into them with alot of charm and grace with Michael J. Nelson playing the dumb but lovable hero really well as you do want to route for him but at the same time much like Tom and Crow he's an utter idiot but in all of the best ways possible with him having his own charm and charisma that really do shine through in this episode. With the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

One of the more famous aspects of the show is the hallway between the bridge of the Satellite Of Love and it's titular theater. With the hallway getting changed every view years and sadly it's change for these episodes is a bit of a down point for me personally as while there is nothing with the idea of them spoofing movies in them but its the fact that the sequence does go on for a long time that does make it a chore to sit through and while the makes of this episode do try and add something to it be it The Shining girls first welcoming us and then wishing we'd come to them or even the fact that an animated dinosaur fight is added in one of the scenes it doesn't make the scene alot more fun to watch rather it makes it drag on a bit longer. Granted this is something that was always going to make alot of people angry as there was no way in heck that they were going to match what they did in both the original show and to a lesser extent the Netflix era of the show as they did make use of practical effects whereas the Gizmoplex era had it be entirely animated with this one using a mixture of the two and while it does work in some places like the first one where we literally enter into a movie theater or even with the fighting dinosaurs it's when we get to the girls from The Shining where it does feel a little bit off putting almost as if the makers of the episode either didn't have enough money or enough time to fully finish it with it coming of as being a less funny South Park skit but the idea of having Pearl Forrester talk as the girls during that segment was a really good and funny idea but the whole hallway scene did need to be shortened just to make it more bearable to watch.

As you can see in the name of this post the movie that the MST3K crew are riffing in this episode is the movie Sting Of Death. With the movie to be honest being one that does look really bad and perfect for this show but in saying this tho the makers of this show even when they were making the original show always said that the bad movies have to be the good kind of bad in that they have to have not perfect but good enough picture and sound quality and have to allow themselves to be mocked and while this film does have plenty of things that could be mocked in it and while the picture quality is really good it's the sound quality that needed to be fixed as the film does have music cues start halfway threw a scene and spend the rest of the rest of the scene being completely silent thee is a good chance that they was how the film was meant to be viewed tho. Which if that was the case then fair enough and it does seem like they used the recently released Blu-Ray restoration of the film as the picture quality for the film the guys are riffing on does look really good but again it's the sound that's the issue here as it does feel like that there should have been more music in the film then what we actually here and heck given the fact that the film is silent for alot of the time it's surprising that they never picked up on and made fun of that as it is something that does stand out a mile, with the film being the type of schlock that you would expect to find being covered in this show and to be fair it does do it's job in not only making fun of a bad movie but in also making you want to see that same bad movie just to see if it's as bad as this episodes made it out to be and heck like alot of films that are featured on this show this film is mostly shown unedited whereas when they did something like This Island Earth they did have to cut alot of scenes out of the movie to tell there plot in there own movie.

While it's great seeing Mike , Tom and Crow back again it is weird not seeing Gypsy with them as she was a big part of the original show and while the original show did give her a good send off by saying that she now owns and runs her own company. It still would have been nice to see her or even get a mention of her and what she's up to even if its in passing and heck we do spend a good few minuets catching up on what Pearl has been doing alot of which just retconns the last three seasons of the show as there's no mention of Kinga or her time spent helping her with Gizmoplex which is fair enough as alot of people really didn't like that season of the show therefor it would have been nice to find out just what it is that Gypsy has been up to in the years since season 10 even if it's just in a quick nothing line and yet she gets nothing. They even replaced her in the intro by having Tom show up twice and having Crow comment on it however there is still a good chance that she would be showing up in future episodes which is something that would be nice to see but given the fact that the intro spoil the fact that we will be seeing both TV's Fran and Dr. Forrester it does seem weird that she wouldn't be in the intro or even in the show as she had been a main character in quite literally every single season of the show even when she got renamed in season thirteen to GPC she was still in a good portion of the episodes and yet here we get nothing from her and while granted when it comes to the bots people mostly remember both Tom and Crow and that's really it it still would have been nice to have her in these episodes as these are meant to be anniversary episodes for Rifftrax and yet she's nowhere to be seen or heard in this episode, while the episode isn't really effected by her not being in the episode as everything would still play out the same not mentioning her and pretending that she was never a character in the first place feels a bit of a weird choice on the part of the makers of this episode.

Whilst this might sound like a cliche thing to say as it is something that could really be applied to any era of the show that has a into of money behind it. The show does from a visual stand point look really good with that Kickstarter fund going to some good places like giving us a good looking bridge for the SOL and even giving us improved shots in the earth segments with this making this episode feel alot more like a movie with it feeling like that the makers of this episode new full well that this is the episode that they'd have in a limited theatrical run and therefor they chose to make it look as good as they could have done in the the time that they had to make the episode as we do get camera shots that they would never do in a regular episode of the show with there being alot of tracking shots both in the opening of the episode where we push in on Mike's job at the Cheese factory and even when we first meet Pearl again. That is a small thing but its something that does make this episode visually look more cinematic so much so that you could have made this as an actual movie and released as a movie and no one would be able to tell that much of a difference and while the episode does loose the homemade feel as everything does look a little bit to good for this show this is something that does make sense as the Mike era was all about pushing the show forward and not holding it back and while there are somethings in this episode that were done for real and have that home made look to them alot of the effects in the show weren't done for real and they look good, the bridge for the SOL even looks really good with us finally having a practical bridge again unlike what we have last series which was just a practical control panel and an animated background here everything is practical with even Trace Beaulieu coming back to design it and it is something that will appease alot of long time fans of this truly iconic show.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty minuets and five seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this show to have and to be fair this episode really does need to have that long a running time as even the shows intro sets up the main premise for the season we still do need to catch up with alot of the characters from the original show and find out what Pearls main scheme is this season as none of that is covered in the intro to the season and to not have any of that in the episode would not only be insulting to the fans that grew up watching the original show as they would know and love these characters and would want to know what it is they've been up to but it would also do a huge disservice to the episode itself with the episode having more the  enough plot there to really cover tat amount of running time in the first place. Yet with this being said tho the episode really doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot and whilst this is something that would be seen as being a bad thing here tho it is something that does make sense in someway as the shows intro does cover alot of the important plot stuff by saying that Pearl has kidnapped Mike from his steady little job with the episode itself telling us why she's doing it and but that's the only bit of plot that we get as we don't get to find out what Mike and the bots have been up to or why Tom and Crow are back on the SL when they ended the original show with Mike on earth these are things that could have added some small amount of plot to development to the episode with the makers of this episode being more focused on giving the Satellite Of Love a new name with it now being called Syd's Olive Loaf which they do explain as a joke then they are in giving the plot some plot development. The same thing is true for the episodes character development as none of them really get any kind of development at all but this is the show that doesn't really do character development as its always been a gag driven show but it still would have been nice if we really did get some kind of character development even if it was done as a joke with the makers of this episode really being more focused on reconning seasons eleven through thirteen then they are in giving the characters any kind of character development but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk abut the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. To be frank the episodes comedy is the one thing that this episode does really well as it captures the spirit of the original show whilst also not being afraid to be add in things that the guys would have learnt from doing Rifftrax with the characters making some really good jokes about how bad the so called good dancing is in the movie or the fact that alot of the characters in the movie are smoking for no reason other then it's the sixties. With the best joke in the whole entire episode being the song that they sing when they first come back from the theater as Tom and Crow sing the song "Do The Tardigrade" which honestly is just a really funny song and is a play on the fact that in the film the characters are seen dancing to a song about a Jellyfish and while Mike at first doesn't want to take part in the song with hi trying to get into touch with his manager at the Cheese factory even he joins in at the end at the end wearing a giant Tardigrade costume and even both Brain Guy and Professor Bobo attempt to join in with Pearl very quickly shutting down there efforts and while the song isn't as good as "Every Country Has a Monster" from the season eleven premiere episode it still a really funny song that does show that these guy do still know how to make you laugh and aren't afraid of looking silly and playing the fool whilst doing it with the rest of the episodes jokes being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall may oh may is it so good to have this show back even if it just for four episodes it's better then nothing with this episode really proving that the old crew can still make us laugh and do still know how to make this show be really good and be just as funny as it was back in the eighties and nineties in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and a such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in ti very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Mystery Science Theater 3000 fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images.
