Godzilla: Planet Of The Monsters Dubbed Film Review

When people think of the Godzilla films they usually just think of the live action films and nothing more then that which is something that really does make sense as there are quite alot of live action Godzilla films out there. However there really are also some animated Godzilla films out there as well and those films really do deserve to be talked about just as much as the live action films are really regardless of there quality and so then join me as I review the film that saw the king of monsters make his animated feature film debut with the film in question being called simply just "Godzilla: Planet Of The Monsters" enjoy.

The plot of this film is several thousands years after humans abandoned Earth after it was attacked by Godzilla a small ragtag group of humans return and land on the planet hoping to take it back from the king of the monsters. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time tho this films plot really isn't all that good either as while the concept is a good idea where that idea fails is in it's execution as this films plot is at best wafer thin with it just coming and going as and when it pleases with the plot of this film also being really underdeveloped and not being all that well thought out with the film just relying on it's concept to make it's plot to seem interesting instead of actually giving us a good and well thought out plot and yet when the plot does get good it just comes across as being fan service as all there doing are referencing things and creatures from both previous Godzilla movies and the other two Godzilla animated movies which is great for those movies but at the same time it does nothing for the plot of this movie either with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Chris Niosi as Haruo Sakaki , Lucien Dodge as Metphies and Edward Bosco as Martin Lazzari. Also starring in this film is Jamieson Price as Mulu Elu Galu Gu , Rich Brown as Rilu-Elu Belu-be , Cristina Vee as Yuko Tani , Robbie Daymond as Adam Bindewald , Ray Chase as Eliott Leland , Keith Silverstein as Unberto Mori , Doug Stone as Halu-Elu Dolu-do and Joe Ochman as Endurphe.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Which isn't really something that's all that surprising as alot of this films actors are a bunch of really good actors and have proven that time and time again in various projects but alot of them just come across as either being wooden or horribly miscast with it seeming like that the producers of this films dub were casting these actors on name recognition alone and there for didn't bother to have them audition because if they did then they would have cast this movie alot more differently as Lucien Dodge doesn't make for a good Metphies and Edward Bosco makes for a dull Martin Lazzari with each actor being better suited for the others role and while Cristina Vee is a good voice actor here she's just not given all that much to do and so she feels like she there just for the sake of being there and not really because of the fact that her character actually adds anything to the plot of this film with the actual acting in this film not really being helped by the fact that this films films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Polygon Pictures. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films animation being alot better then what it really had any right to be as with 3D CGI anime the end animation is very usually a mixed bag 'with it not really being something that audiences want and yet with this film it looks terrific and it more then holds up over seven years later with this film animation looking just as good as anything that PIXAR has put out recently as here you can tell that there was a lot of effort into making the king of monsters animated feature film debut look as good as it really could have been and while the film really doesn't take as full advantage of the fact that it's an animated film that doesn't change the fact that when we get to see something look truly wonderful with even Godzilla himself looking really good in animation and while yes there are alot of truly nice looking things in this films animation that doesn't mean that the animation is perfect because it's not as there are a few shots early on in the film that do look kind of rough almost as if the animators just ran out of time to work on them and that kind of thing does lower the animation quality down just a little bit.

While the human characters in the live action Godzilla films are never the most interesting part of any Godzilla film. They do at least have more then one emotion which is sadly not the case for this films lead character Haruo Sakaki whose only emotion in this film is that of anger which is something that does make sense for the film but at the same time tho he's meant to be the main character of this film and yet the film gives no reason to care for him but it gives us plenty of reasons to hate him which makes him come across as being a really unlikable character and while this film is a story told over the curse of three films and so he does learn to soften up a bit over those two other films there should have been more of an effort put into making him a more likable character in this film as he is the one that we're going to be spending alot of time with over the course of this trilogy and there making him a more likable but edgy character would make sense but what doesn't make sense is making him someone who you can't stand to be around because of the fact that he could snap at you at any moment if you so much as looked him wrong with the rest of the characters also just having one emotion which makes them seem like after thoughts and as we're meant to be spending quite alot of time with these characters there should have been more of an effort into making them all more fully formed as characters and into giving us the audience a chance to actually like them rather then hating if not all of them then at the vert least most of them.

For some strange reason the makers of this film thought that it was a good idea to copy what Godzilla 2014 did and spend alot of the time with the films human characters. While yes granted films like both Godzilla Minus One and even Shin Godzilla also do that but they also knew to spend just as much time with Godzilla as he's the one that people are actually paying to see and yet in this film Godzilla doesn't get that much screen time and he's the title character which makes him feel like a side character in his own story and heck the plot of the film even revolves around him and while this does allow for the film to showcase it's truly stunning backgrounds it also means that we have to spend alot more time with some really unlikable character when it would have been far better if they got to the Godzilla stuff alot more sooner as it takes a good while for Godzilla to show up when the humans land back on earth and while yes we do get to see alot of him in flashback scenes in those scenes he's quite literally a still image for the most part apart from the scene where it's strongly implied that he killed Haruo's parents but that's not what we want to see from Godzilla we want to see him blowing stuff up and causing chaos and yet it takes a good while for us to actually get to that which is something that does bog this film down quite a it as we are forced to watch alot of boring and pointless scenes that go nowhere and add nothing to the overall plot of the film.

To give this film some credit it does look very visually stunning and the fact that the story is something new even to the Godzilla franchise is to be admired. However at the same time tho this film does feel like a waste of a good idea as the idea of having humans loose the earth to Godzilla and then return years later to try and take it back from him is a really solid idea but the film doesn't go all the way with it's idea as the film is instead more focused on setting up things that won't pay off until either the second or third films in this trilogy which makes this film feel alot more like an extended trailer for those films when alot more time really should have been spent on developing this films ideas and having alot of the scenes from earlier on in the film like the death of Haruo's grandfather play apart of who he is as a character instead of him barely even mentioning that someone who looked after him for TWENTY PLUS YEARS has just been killed right infront of him as that then would be an interesting angle to take that character in and while yes the film does have some entertainment value when it gets to the stuff with Godzilla you still have to sit through alot of painfully long and boring scenes with the characters just sitting and talking and that's not something that you want a film is as short as this one is as every single scene needs to be advancing the plot and advancing the characters and that mean getting rid of all of the stuff that makes the film dull and boring and instead get to the stuff that people want to see and even expect to see in a Godzilla film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty eight minuets and thirty seconds. Which is a really solid running time for this film to have as alot of the later sixties and seventies Godzilla films did have very similar running times or this film to have and while this film really does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time this films story really should have been wrapped up in one film as the film only has enough plot for one film let alone and entire trilogy of films and while the film does make as a good a use of it's running time that it really could have due this is film that really should have been a lot longer as then it would have been able to have the characters get the development that they really did need it and would hopefully allow them to be more likable characters but at the same time tho it would mean sitting through more boring scene after boring scene with nothing actually happening to advance the actual plot of the film which is something that could've only have been fixed with a re-write of the films script and not something that could've been fixed with adding more time to the film as that would only make those issues bigger as now we'd be forced to focus in on them alot more and while yes this film does indeed get exciting it's also film that doesn't know when to cut down on the boring and pointless scenes either as those are scenes that really do bog this film by quite a bit and can at times make this film feel like it's not only a chore to sit through but also feel like that it's quite alot longer then what it actually is but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho. 

So now then as this is an action film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As it's during this films action that the film not only gets to be really exciting but also shows some promise as it shows us that the human characters actually have to try and work together to even get close to damaging Godzilla where as he can just stand on them and swat away whatever being fired at him like there flies which was an interesting angle to take as it's something that we the audience really haven't seen before in a Godzilla film as alot of the time we just get Godzilla smashing down buildings and that's really and that's great but it's not something that can be done with this film and so we have to get something new and creative from this films action as they can't even show us Godzilla fighting another monster either and what we get out of it whilst it might not be the best action in this franchise it is still some really entertaining and it's something that does take as full advantage of the fact that it's an animated film by doing camera moves that would be impossible to do in live action which might be a small thing but it's something that really does go along way to making this films action as entertaining as it really could have been as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this entire Godzilla anime film trilogy might not be the best of Godzilla media out there it's still alot better then the 1998 American Godzilla film but this is a film that also really could have been alot better then what we really ended up with as the concept alone was more the enough to make the film work and yet for some strange reason this film really just doesn't work at all in anyway whatsoever in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as being as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Worzel Gummidge Down Under "Wattle Hearthbrush" Review

It's been quite a while since an episode of the really classic Worzel Gummidge TV series was last covered on this blog and even longer since an episode of it's sequel series Worzel Gummidge Down Under was covered. Well it was about time that another episode from Worzel Gummidge Down Under  really was covered in this blog and well then I think I found an actually really funny episode from the sequel series really bad second series and so then join as I review the episode that sees The Crowman trying to make a female scarecrow with the episode in question being called simply just "Wattle Hearthbrush" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when the local Nuns need a female scarecrow built to scare of the birds The Crowman has to make it for them and Worzel is only to happy to show her the ropes in the best way that he knows how. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that and as it was easily one of the more better plots that this shows second series had but at the same time tho it is still lacking that extra special something that made the original series standout and alot of that does come from the fact that original series writers Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall had left this show with each episode being written a rotation of New Zealand writers and while it doesn't show in this episode as the plot of this episode was really well done alot of the episodes during this shows second series were really bad plots with the plot of this episode being an example of this show being done right as it shows that the makers of this show could still make a really funny Worzel Gummidge episode without dumbing down the concept something that is seen all throughout this second series with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Also starring in this episode is Caroline Hutchison as Sister Mary Aloyishes , Olivia Ihimaera-Smiler as Manu , Prue Langbein as Sister Agnes , Jonathan Marks as Mickey , Power Ranger star Bruce Phillips as The Crowman and The Willies star Ellie Smith as Wattle Hearthbrush.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Which for this shoe show isn't really all that new as as even this sequel show did always have some really good acting in it even in the episodes that weren't directed by series regular director James Hill the quality of acting was always really high and that is something that really does shine through in this episode as Jon , Bruce and Ellie have to basically carry the entire episode on there backs and they all do so wonderfully and while yes granted the acting in this episode isn't as good as the acting in all pf the episodes of the original series considering the fact that this series of the show is known for being quite bad and this second series is known for being really bad then the fact that we managed to get an episode that does have acting quality that's up there with some of the worse episodes of the original series is still something to behold and it is something that does go to show you that this episodes actors are a bunch of really good actors in there own right as well with the acting that's in this very episode not really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so bad as it gives none of this episodes actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first which is something that really does affect the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

In what was a shocking thing to find in this episode is the fact that there is a scene around the middle portion of the episode that does hearken back to the dark and almost gothic nature of the original series. With Wattles naming ceremony being done in way that does make you think of the shows more dark nature which is something that should have been in more of this show as the original series could get quite dark and quite gothic at times and yet none of that very rarely if ever made it's way to Worzel Gummidge Down Under seemingly for reason whatsoever and yet when the show does use those more darker elements like they do in this episode then we get some really great scenes out of it with those scenes being ones that stick with you the longest as there something that really do catch your attention and keep you hooked on the episode and while in this case it was just The Crowman naming a scarecrow something that we had seen done before in the original series it was done in a way that not only reminds you that the two shows are connected but it also goes to show you that when this series really did want to that they could then make something that really would fit in right at home with the original series as well which is something that does work in this episode as this episode is all about not only celebrating what came before it with Worzel himself acting like a teacher to Wattle but also starting something new with the creation of Wattle Hearthbrush herself.

In a move that wasn't really done in the original show that writer of this episode Anthony McCarten really did know to treat the kid audience of this show with some basic level of respect. As they actually explain why Aunt Sally isn't in this episode with it being said that she's gone on holiday with a supposedly very rich man and isn't taking any visitors at the moment this was actually a really surprising move as even in his series they never really explained why Aunt Sally wasn't going to be in an episode they would just do the episode as they normally would which is something that does work in this series favor as the original series also did that but that the same time tho to see an episode not only go out of it's way to explain why she's not in the episode but also make her absence a plot point as it's what she says in her postcard to Worzel that leaves him feeling heartbroken and want to actually befriend Wattle in the first place and this is something that just isn't done even today as usually the writer of any episode of any show would just through in one line about why a character isn't in the episode and that's it but to make it a key plot point as well that is something that is never done and it really is something that should be done ore as it shows that the writer is actually treating the shows kid audience as equals and is not just doing the bare minimum effort to get a paycheck and while it would have been nice to see both Wattle and Aunt Sally meet up as you could have got alot of really great jokes from that pairing it is also something that just wasn't done for one reason or another.

While the idea of showing a female scarecrow is one that's been done to death and heck even the first episode of the fourth series of Worzel Gummidge is all about Worzel meeting his mother. What hadn't been done before now was showing us just how a female scarecrow is made which is basically done by only using female ingredients and female turnips which does seem like a dated way of putting it but at the same time tho for the time that this episode was being made in it is something that does work in the episode as the episode does explain it in a way where it does kind of make sense within the context of the show but at the same time tho they do get a few things wrong as well like the fact that we know that after a scarecrow comes alive for the first time they find it hard to talk for the first time and yet here Wattle speaks quite easily and we also know that a new born scarecrow has need to eat every sweet treat in sight and not stop until there really full up something that doesn't happen in this episode and while those might be small nitpicks in the grand scheme of things they are things that do go to show you that the makers of this show just don't have that much respect for what came them and most likely never even watched and episode of the original show in the first place as then they really could have gotten things that a new born scarecrow does down perfectly instead of just making up something new and hoping that no one noticed like what they did in this episode.

Wattle herself was one of the more fun characters in this episode as she's basically a rebellious teenager but cranked up to eleven. Which is something that does make her fun to watch as you never really know what she's going to say or do as she gets excited when she finds out that her first job has her being placed on roof but then gets bored quite quickly and is happy to go along with Worzel and while this show could have used a character like her very early on just to add in a character who could be everything that Worzel shouldn't be at the same time tho this kind of character would get boring pretty quickly and there only be so many times where you could see her get excited about something and then get bored by it pretty quickly as that is something that would get old pretty quick and not to mention the fact that there most likely would be times where she could come across as being the bad guy of the story when a character like this works best when she's quite clearly the goo guy and the fact that even The Crowman admits to having reservations about her being placed where she was in the first pace does prove that in the end she made the right call to go with Worzel as she just wasn't that happy there and so she went to do something that made her happy which in this case involved stealing a motorcycle to get away from the Nun's that put her on there roof in the first place which does make her the good guy of this episode as she only did what she did not only because of the fact that like all scarecrows she really didn't know any better but also because of the fact she wanted to do something that really does make her happy and being with Worzel Gummidge makes her happy,

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty four minuets and fifty five seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for this show to have and to be fair this episode really does have the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time but what lets the episode is the fact that this episodes plot does come across as being quite underdeveloped with the episode being more focused on getting to the next plot point then it is in fully developing it's story and as such scenes like Worzel explaining to The Crowman why he wants The Crowman to mend his heart just don't work this is despite the fact that it is a wonderfully written , acted and directed scene and even the following scene with The Crowman just outright saying that Aunt Sally isn't a good friend doesn't work not only because there's no build up to that scene but also because there's no pay off for it either it's there just for the sake of being there which again despite it being a very well written , acted and directed scene just feels like a filler scene as neither we the audience nor Worzel himself are being told anything new about Aunt Sally as Worzel always looks for the best in her despite her being a cruel and horrible person and as such there's no point in the episode in having a scene like that in this episode as it adds nothing to the plot of the episode and it really could have been argued that it takes away screen time from the episode which really could have been used to fully develop the episodes plot but I really will admit that this episode really does gave some really bad pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then  in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With this episode actually being quite alot more funnier then what it really had any right to be with this episode not only making use of the funny things that the characters say and do but also having a sight gag like a Nun trying ringing the bell only her to get quite lifted of her feet everytime she does so is funny with that joke even being the best joke in the episode as it is something that really catch you off guard as it's joke that whilst yes is a very joke to tell it's still also a really funny joke when it's done really well as well and while this episode does have alot of really funny moments in it like the fact that when he's inside the convent Worzel disguises himself up as nun only to get found out right way that's a good idea and is a great way to subvert your expectations and even alot of what Wattle says and how she acts is really funny as she acts like someone who is just going to cause trouble and have fun doing so but then she'll say something that catch you off guard and that will still make you laugh because it's in her character to do so with even the Nuns having a few funny moments in this episode as well with pretty much all of this episodes jokes not only landing but also landing really hard as well as that's just how funny that this episodes jokes also really are as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this episode whilst it was still a pretty bad episode from a really painfully bad series of the show it's also one that proves that the makers of this show do indeed know how to make something that's true to the original spirit of Worzel Gummidge since all they have to do is try and that's really it and yet it's something that they've only really done in this very episode of the show in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

The Mask: Animated Series "The Mask Is Always Greener On The Other Side" Parts 1 AND 2 Review

To say that the nineties had alot of superhero and comic book related animated shows out would be a huge understatement. As such it would be understandable if people just straight up forgot about one or two shows or didn't even k now that the show that they were watching is actually based off of comic book with this show being one that's kind of been lost to the sands of time as you don't really see it being talked about all that much and so then join me as I review the episode that saw another Jim Carrey character start it's own animated series with the two part episode in question being called simply just "The Mask Is Always Greener On The Other Side" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is fed up of The Mask causing him trouble Stanley Ipkiss finally decides to get rid of it once and for all only for him to realise that he may need it once again when an evil doctor starts terrorising Edge City looking for The Mask. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes being not that bad but at the same time the plot for both of these episodes really could have been alot better as for those of us that saw the movie they would know that at the end of the Stanley already got rid of The Mask and yet here he is with it again with no reason given and while yes it could be argues that Milo gave The Mask to Stanley at the end of the movie this is still something that should have been addressed in these episodes with the plot not even being epic enough to warrant being a two parter as you very easily could have told the plot of both of these episodes in just one episode and heck there's nothing in both of these episodes that fully justifies being a two parter as all that does is make the vast majority of part one feel like filler that's only there so that they could justify putting those scenes in the intro and not because there actually relevant to the plot of these episodes with the plot of these very episodes also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in these episodes is voice acting legend Rob Paulsen as Stanley Ipkiss and voice acting legend Frank Welker as Milo and Baby Forthwright. Also starring in these episodes is voice acting legend Tress MacNeille as Mrs. Peenman , Heidi Shannon as Peggy Brandt , Tim Curry as Doctor Pretorius , voice acting legend Kevin Michael Richardson as Mayor Mitchell Tilton , Mark Taylor as Charlie Schumaker , Neil Ross as Mitch Kellaway and voice acting legend Jim Cummings as Doyle.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes being alot better then what it really had any right to be. As by all rights the acting in these first two episodes really shouldn't have been as good as it was as the acting in shows that are based off f movies and comic books typically aren't that good and yet that's exactly what we got in both of these episodes as not only do none of the characters that are playing characters from the film NOT do impressions of the films actors which allows them to really make the characters there own but all of this episodes actors also turn in some really good performances in there own right which is something that really does make alot of sense when you take into account that alot of this episodes actors are a bunch of voice acting legends who are mostly still acting to this very day but that they are also just a bunch of really good actors in there own right as well with the true standout performer in this episode being Rob Paulsen as he not only has to create a very distinctive voice for Stanley Ipkiss but also do the exact same for The Mask and yet still turn in a good performance and he does so effortlessly with the acting that's in these episodes not really being helped by the fact that the script for these episodes is really bad as it gives none of these episodes actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in these very episodes.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good and was just like the acting in the episodes in that it was alot better then what it really had any right to be but at the same time tho you could tell that this show didn't have a big animation budget as there aren't that many people walking around on the streets and the animation looses alot of detail during certain in episodes one which does add an air of cheapness to the episode which is something that does make sense as you have to spread your animation budget out over several episodes but at the same time you only get one chance to make a good first impression that's something that these episodes don't get the chance to do from an animation standpoint as they both just like the kind of show that would only air in the nineties where as comic book shows such as X-Men: The Animated Series and Batman: The Animated Series look like they were made a few years ago where with both of these episodes you can tell right away that this really was a nineties show due to the dated and at times rather cheap looking animation in both of these episodes.

What this show has both working for it and against it is the fact that it's more based off of the comics then the film. This is something that does work both for and against these episodes as it does allow for these episodes to use villains like Walter who never appeared in the film but at the same time due to the fact that this a kids show that also borrows elements from the movie it also works against these episodes as well as it creates a show that doesn't know what it wants to be as these episodes could have a really hard hitting scene that would feel right at home in the comics and then they'd end it on a joke that feel right at home in the movie with nothing inbetween the two thus creating tonal whiplash and it sometimes go the other way around as well with them having a more light hearted scene but then that would feel at home in the movie but then get more serious and adult like in the comic with the best example of this being in the opening to Part One where Mrs. Peenman yells at Stanley for thinking to loud which is something that would work in the movie but then when she leaves Stanley goes to his closet and threatens to put on The Mask so that he "take care of her" in a threatening way which is something that would have worked in the comics which were more adult and more violent then the movie version ever was and yet there's nothing inbetween the two to ease you into it and both of the episodes are like that and it gives the impression that the makers of this show wanted to please both the fans of the movie and the fans of comic book instead of creating a pair of solid episodes that really could have stood on there own with the audience having to have seen the movie or read any of the comic books.

As a comedy these two episodes do work really well as there are alot of painfully moments in both of these episodes. With Part One even kind of putting there own spin on the gag of Milo mishearing what Stanley want him to do from the movie only here instead him getting the police keys to let Stanley out of jail he licks his own lock that Walter put him in which was a cute little throwback joke as was the fact that near the end of Part Two they have Milo put on The Mask again which was another cute throwback to the movie but where both of these episodes shine is them doing jokes that's unique to the series as that's when they get to take full advantage of the fact that it's an animated series and so the jokes just become more wild and zany as The Mask himself who was already a cartoon character in the movie can now be even more wild and zany with his jokes but with that being said tho alot of the jokes in these episodes haven't aged as well as they could have done like the fact that alot of the wordplay between Stanley and Charlie just isn't that funny and Peggy off handedly mentioning the fact that she turned him into a bunch of Mobsters in the movie just isn't that funny either as all it does is remind you that you could be watching and the second that she makes that joke it then makes you wonder how Stanley got The Mask back from the end of the movie in the first place but when these episodes do tell a good joke it can be really funny joke with alot of thee episodes best jokes rather rightfully coming from The Mask himself.

This episodes main villain Doctor Pretorius is a really fun character and while he is of course played beautifully by Tim Curry. The character as a whole just isn't that interesting nor is he really that threatening in these two episodes with him not really doing anything all that threatening for the vast majority of either episode until near the end of episode two when he decides to take over the robot house and that Charlie and Stanley are trying to clean up and that's really it heck Walter is more threatening main villain for these two episodes as he's literally an unstoppable machine that is something that's perfect for the opening villain of a kids TV show as it then forces the main hero to have to think outside of the box to try and defeat there foe where as with Doctor Pretorius you don't really have to do that as all you have to do is just outsmart him once and you've got him beat which is a shame because the idea of a mad scientist who is so crazy and smart that he figured out a way to detach his own head from his body and have the two of them not only be alive but act independently of each other is a good and to the episodes credit it does take full advantage of that idea but at the same time tho that idea doesn't make the character threatening as all it does is prove that he's a super smart character and that's really it and while that is indeed a good thing you main villain also has to have some sort of menace about them so much so that you actually fear for the heroes life and want to see the main hero succeed because of it and that's something that's sadly missing from Doctor Pretorius.

Now then episode one has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty three minuets and five seconds whilst episode two has / had an exact gran total running time of exactly twenty three minuets and three seconds. With both running time pretty much being the bogstandard running time for alot of nineties kids animated TV shows to have but this episode really doesn't have alot of plot there to fully cover two episodes as the main plot of both the episodes episodes doesn't really kick in until about the half way point of Part One and even then is filled with padding that it makes it feel like that this episode was originally meant to be just the one episode but for one or another it ended up getting an extra episode when it really doesn't need it as there's nothing about this episode that screams that it needs to be a two parter and yet because it now is a two parter that means that part one for the most part feels like a trailer for part two as nothing that's set up in part one doesn't get payed off in part two this is a good example for the plot should always dictate how many episodes that it should be as really there's only enough plot for one episode and if these episodes were condensed into the one episode we end up with an episode that has a much more better focus on it's plot and where every single scene is about advancing it's plot and where no scene feels like filler or padding but I really will admit this episode really does gave some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty not that bad. As this is still a kids comedy show and so the action can't be as good as it is in say Batman: The Animated Series for example and with that in mind the action that we got in these first two episodes was really good and while most of the action does come in episode two we do kind of get a small fight scene near the end of episode one which was really fun even tho it was just Peggy trying to get Stanley out of the device that Doctor Pretorius put him in it was still a pretty fun scene and while it was right that these episodes save up alot of the action for the second episode it still would have been nice if episode one had more then one fight scene as while yes there is a scene at the start of episode with The Mask trying and failing to stop a bunch of bank robbers that's more of comedy scene then it is an action with the best action in both of these episodes being the final showdown between The Mask and Doctor Pretorius as that's when we get to see this episode really just go all in on the craziness that The Mask as a character does bring and because of that we do get a really fun filled action sequence as well with the action in episode two also being really good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall out of this show Dumb And Dumber and the Ace Venture animated series with all three even premiering in the same year with this show ending it's run in 1997 Dumb And Dumber ending it's run in 1996 and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective ending it's run in 2000 and heck even this show and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective even had a two part crossover on each others show but this is the only one of those shows that feels like that it was taking full advantage of the fact that it's an animated show and while these two episodes aren't that good of a start to the show they do leave plenty of room for the show to grow and to improve as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as being as all of the bad things that are in these first two episodes in this very review and such that really does mean that these first episodes really do earn themselves a grand total combined score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 "Robot Wars" Review

It's been a good few months since anything from Mystery Science Theater 3000 was covered and well then I thought that now was the right time to a look back at another episode from this show. With this episode seeing the crew cover a movie that not alot of people know about whilst also introducing something new and different for the show as a whole and so then join me as I review the episode that see's Jonah , Tom and Crow riff a movie about giant robots with the movie and episode in question being called simply just "Robot Wars" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is with the Gizmoplex in ruins and them in debt Kinga and Max get advice from there investor which will have consequences for one unlucky soul. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually feature / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time tho this episodes plot is one that weirdly isn't given alot of focus which is something that does standout for this show as when the show does do something that advances it's plot even a little bit then it gives it alot of focus and yet with this episode it gets mentioned once at the start of the episode and is brought up again at least once more during the episode and that's really it when it's something that should have been mentioned and referenced alot more as it is something that does have a huge impact on the plot of this season and yet it felt like that it was an afterthought and while that might have worked for something that doesn't effect either the plot of the season or the plot of the show as then it could be seen as being a throwaway episode here tho it is something that does effect the plot of the season and to a lesser extent the plot of the show as a whole as well and it therefor should have been given a bit more attention just to make the plot of this episode feel a bit more fully developed then what it already is with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is this episodes director and co-writer Jonah Ray as Jonah Heston and Hampton Yount as the voice of  Crow T. Robot. Also starring in this episode is Baron Vaughn as the voice Tom Servo and Dr. Kabahl , The Guild creator and star Felicia Day as Kinga Forrester , Patton Oswalt as Max , Rebecca Hanson as GPC and Synthia , Emily Marsh as Emily Connor  and the shows creator Joel Hodgson as Ardy.

Now then as for what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Which is something that's to be expected from this show as alot of the actors that are in this episode aren't trained actors with there only being two trained actors in the whole episode and that's really it and as such it's from those two actors that we get some of the best acting in this episode with the acting from Jonah , Hampton and Baron being passable at best which does work out as they've been playing there character for years at this point in time with the acting from Felicia and Patton being alot better which is something that does make sense as they are trained actors and so of course there acting would be better but at the same time tho and actor can only be as good as there actor and even tho this is Jonah's first time directing anything he really doesn't know how to get that good of a performance out of his actors which is something that might improve over time as he does direct the overall majority of the episodes in this season it is something that stands out in a negative way in this episode with the acting that's in this very episode not really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so bad as it gives none of this episodes actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

This episode does something that hasn't been done since season 5 of this show and that's introduce the character who would be a host in the next episode. With the end of this episode showing Emily arriving to help build the Simulator Of Love something that in the very net episode she'd find herself trapped on for the rest of the season and this is a good way to set up who the new host without getting rid of the previous host and it's something that does open the door for other characters to come on in and host an episode of the show and not have to get rid of whoever is hosting the show at that time as you could very easily explain that whoever the main bad guy that season is just wanted to torture someone else for a change or that the current host is busy doing something else and they'd still be able to cause someone some form of pain with this being something that really could have worked for the show moving forward since if the show wasn't able to get Jonah or any of the hosts back for future episodes they could just say that the host was already to begin with and it work either way and while we don't get much of Emily in this episode as she only appears in the final scene it is something that does show us the audience that she might just be a fun character and as we find out in the next episode is a great addition to the show as a whole as well but it does remain to be seen if she was as good of a host then Jonah was for example.

The movie that the crew are riffing in this episode is the 1993 film Robot Wars from Full Moon Pictures. With the film being the right kind of bad film that the tea behind this show always strive to find as the film does have some really solid picture and sound quality to it but at the same time tho the film is just primed to be made fun off as it is a film that really does look to be just that bad and boring with the film looking like a poor man's version of the Mad Max franchise only with slow and giant stop motion robots that do nothing for the vast majority of the film except to basically serve as a plane and transport people from A to B and that's really it and heck there's barely even a war in this film and so the one half of the films title is a lie and the other half basically not be there as the robots aren't that interesting and given how they look there's a good chance that they might have inspired the giant spider robot from the film Wild Wild West only the robots in this version did it better as they at least came up with the idea idea and have some good looking stop motion work but what really didn't work for this film is the fact that they treat one of the main characters like he's Jesus something that the crew in this episode not only point out quite alot but also take the time to make fun off a well and rightfully so as it is ridiculous but given that this film is made by Full Moon Pictures it's that kind of ridiculousness that's to be expected from all of there film as well.

To give this episode some credit it does spotlight a film that not alot of people would have heard off and while it might not make people want to go out and check the film out for themselves. It is a good thing that they did spotlight a little known film as that then could make people want to see if it's as bad as this episode makes it out to be and speaking off this episode even tho there essential to the plot of the episode both Kinga and Max are absent for a large portion of the episodes running time with the two of them only appearing at the start of the episode to st up the plot of the episode and then again at the end of the episode to set up the cliffhanger with Emily and that's rally it when they should have been in th episode more given that this episode is quite literally about them trying to find a second host and what's worse is that you could have had some good jokes with them quite literally auditioning people to be the second host which just that idea alone would have made for some really funny scenes and yet the episode instead focuses on Jonah and the bots still making skits about the movie that there watching which granted is in keeping with the rest of the show but at the same time tho there should have been a time and a place for stuff like that and given that the plot of this episode is all about introducing a new host having alot of skits with just Jonah and the bots doesn't work in this kind of episode but at the same time tho it's the host segments with Jonah and the bots that are the more fun segments of this whole entire episode with the episode being worth watching just for the host segments alone as there just that good.

Also introduced in this episode is Dr. Kabahl who is a time travelling financier from the future and he is a good addition to the show. As the show could get some milage out of his character and having him just appear out of nowhere and scare people will always be funny as it's always good and funny seeing how he interacts with people it's just a shame that the episode really doesn't anything with his character with him only appearing in the opening on this episode and that's really it when a character that has this much potential could have been given a little bit more screen time and while him having already met Max in the future is a funny idea as it does show that he does history with the character they don't really go into that history in this episode with him only mentioning that he's already met Max in the future as part of a joke and that's really it but at the same time tho his costume is a bit stupid even for this show as it's just a bunch of black clothing a giant black something on his head that is so fake that you can actually see it move during some scenes in this episode while this season really didn't have a huge budget once you remove the fact that they had to get the rights to show all of the films this season the fact that they really couldn't afford a decent looking costume for this new recurring character really does add an air of cheapness to the how as a whole as while the show was always made very cheaply they still always managed to have some really impressive costumes that made the show look more expensive then what it was something that just isn't true not only for Dr. Kabahl but for this season as well.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty three minuets and forty three seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for this show to have and while the episode really doesn't have enough plot there to really cover that amount of running time that's not really a fault of this episode as its something that could also be said for alot of this shows episodes as well and to to this episodes credit when this episode does indeed focus on it's main plot it does make it count by giving us information that is either important to the plot of this episode or important to the plot of this season as a whole but at the same time tho this episode really could have used it's running time just a little bit better by giving us either some more information of Emily or some more information on Dr. Kabahl as well either of which would have worked as there both characters who appear n multiple episodes of this season and yet at the exact same time tho it's that very reason why this episode most likely didn't give us any information on them in this episode because they do appear in more episodes and heck Emily is even the host of multiple episodes and so alot of the background information on her character does indeed come out during those episodes and those scenes would feel alot like filler in this episode as well but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

However tho at the same time tho this episodes comedy really isn't as good as it really good been with alot of the jokes that the crew make during the movie just not being that funny or are filled with missed opportunities with alot of the episodes best jokes coming from the host segments like the fact that in one segment the bots wonder what the city in Robot Wars would look like in the nineties and Jonah straight up shows them using alot of nineties slang and catchphrases which was a really joke and was easily the best joke of the episode as it was something that really did catch you off guard and it makes you wonder why alot of the episodes jokes weren't as good as that one was and while there some clever jokes in there like the fact that Jonah and the bots event seasonings that are based off of classic romantic comedies complete with pun titles but sadly tho the episode has alot more jokes in it then it does good ones and that is something that does prevent this episode from being as funny as it really could have been but when this episode does tell a funny joke it is and could be a really funny joke as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst this episode did indeed show some promise and had all of the potential to be a really good and a really funny episode of the show the fact that it lacked focus on it's plot and a lack of actually funny jokes both combine to make this episode not as good as it really could have been or even perhaps should have been either with this episode being nothing more then an above average episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as being all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

The Dukes Of Hazzard "Daisy's Song" Review

Classic TV shows are ones that don't seem to get alot of love from today's generation as there more interested in what's new rather then what came before it. As such since it was just about a year ago when I last talked about anything from The Duke Of Hazzard TV series it only made sense that I once again go back to that well to remind you all that this great TV show does really exist and was once a thing that many people loved and so then join me as I review the episode that sees the dukes tackle the issue of piracy in the music industry with the episode in question being called simply just "Daisy's Song" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is after she sends in her one of her songs to a music publishing company Daisy , Bo and Luke find out that the whole thing was scam and set about getting her money only to stumble on something much more bigger then that. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as it was just as simple enough that you could very easily follow along with it which is something that is very in keeping with the shows other plots as well but at the same time tho this episodes plot really isn't as good as it really could have been either as it makes the main characters look dumb at quite a few points in the episode which yes they do explain away in a way that makes sense alot of the time but the fact that they still do it is huge knock on the episode and the plot itself really isn't as fully developed as it really could have been either which again is in keeping with the show and the shows other plots as well but is still something that prevents the plot from being a great with this episode having a more interesting subplot as well with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Coltrane , Sorrell Booke as Boss Jefferson Davis Hogg , Ben Jones as Cooter Davenport , Sonny Shroyer as Enos Strate , Ronnie Schell as Lester Starr , Ginny Parker as Mabel , Clayton Landey as Max , Terry Browning as Ruby , Candy Bleick as Dodie , Wallace Merck as Jojo , Bill Gribble as Carson , Roy Tatum as FBI Agent 3 , Wallace Wilkinson as FBI Agent 1 , Bob Cleveland as FBI Agent 2 and Waylon Jennings as The Balladeer.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in tis very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty alot better then what it really had any right to be. As this show really wasn't known all that well for having good acting in it this is despite the fact that Denver Pyle was a really good actor and yet in this episode we get a ton of really solid performances from alot of the shows main leads as while yes there are still some stilted performances from the likes of John Schneider for example given that this episode was only the shows second ever episode and so of course the acting in this episode won't be as good as it would be in later episodes or even the two reunion movies for that matter and yet when we do get some really good acting it not only stands out a mile because of how good that it was but it also helps to elevate whatever scene that it's with the best example of this being a scene with Denver Pyle and Catherine Bach where he's just giving her some advice and it's such a heartwarming scene that on paper could sound cheesy and come across as being such but because of the acting from the two of them it comes across as being really genuine with the acting that's in this very episode not really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so bad as it gives none of this episodes actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be which is something that really does help to lower the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

The episode "villain" Lester Starr was easily one of the more entertaining aspects of the episode as he's just so slimly and campy that it does make him fun to see in any of his scenes. However tho and rather rightfully the episode really doesn't spend alot of time developing his character which whilst it is still a bad thing it's also something that's to be expected not only of this show but alot of TV shows as well as there going to be more focused on the heroes rather then they are the guest villains of the episode and that's what Lester Starr is he's a guest villain for this episode and there for while it would have been nice to see him become a more fully rounded character it also wouldn't have been the wisest of things either and yet even tho he's not that fully rounded out as a character he is still a really enjoyable character with it being obvious from his first scene that actor Ronnie Schell really does know exactly what kind of show that he's in and is there for just going to fun with this character and there for plays him like his the main villain in a pantomime which is perfect for this show as this is show that particularly during it's first season wasn't a big hit with critics and even the makers of the show admitted that they were making something terrible but that they were going to make it the right kind of terrible and because of that alot f the actors playing the villains got to really ham it up and just have fun with there roles was the case with the villain in this episode and it's something like that that did make Lester Starr out to be a really fun filled character in his own right.

This was also the episode that introduced that fact that Daisy had dreams of becoming a big star which in this case involved her songwriting. This was a good idea but at the same time tho it's one that very few if none of the other episodes in this show followed up on which is a shame because you really cold have gotten a nice little character arc going for Daisy and yet it just seemed like that the show abandoned it for no reason whatsoever and yet it's because of that subplot that we got some of the best scenes in the episode be it Daisy pretending that she's performing to a large audience when the the dukes go to visit the manager a famous country star or the fact that she out worldly admits to Uncle Jessie that she now doesn't know how to feel about her dreams because of how much trouble that her dreams have caused the family and we could have gotten more beautiful scenes like that if the show kept that aspect of her character intact and it's something that might have even helped the show when it started to slip in ratings during it's fifth season and yet the show didn't keep that aspect of the character intact thus making those scenes in this episode feel pointless as they were just going to reset the status quo at the end of the episode anyways and while yes doing that is something that's done all of the time in sitcoms it's very rarely if ever done in action comedy shows like this one and it is something that while it doesn't hurt the episode in anyway shape or form it is however something that makes you wonder the the makers of this show bothered to include it in this episode if the intention was to always rest the status quo at the end of each episode.

For some reason this episode really wanted to treat Bo and Luke look dumb as when they are tailing Lester who is also being tailed by the FBI. The boys get caught by Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane and during the cause of getting away from him they loose Lester and thus Daisy and yet it takes them talking to Cooter to realise that instead of asking around to see if anyone has seen Lester they could just ask if anyone has seen the FBI's car instead which is something that they knew about as the openly commented on it in the previous scene which made them look even dumb if the makers of the episode wanted them to ask Cooter for help then have them not realise that there being followed by the FBI that way the characters don't get made to look dumb and yet still get to have the characters asking for help and while this show is pretty much known for it's bad writing here it felt really bad as they just made there own main characters look dumb all for the sake of including another side character from the show and that's really it and that's not a good enough to do something like that especially if it comes at the expense of your main characters and while this show never really did take it's characters all that seriously it did somewhat treat it's main characters seriously and that is something that makes it all the more weirder that they would include something like this in this episode and it is something that does harm the episode as a whole.

With the show being more of an action comedy it does make sense to talk about the comedy aspect of this episode. Which to but it bluntly wasn't all that good which is something that does make alot of sense as this show was made with country people in mind and would there for have alot of jokes geared towards them but at the same time tho the jokes do still ned to be good and while this episode does have alot of cute jokes in it there's nothing that's laugh out loud funny even the banter the between The Dukes and Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane which is usually comic gold here just felt awkward and forced which does lead to the impression that this might have been the first episode that was filmed which is something that might account for alot of the awkward jokes in this episode but at the same time tho a bad joke will always be a bad joke and it might just have been that this shows writer and the shows creator GY Waldron might not have been able to come up with anything funny for The Dukes and Roscoe to say to each other in this episode which is fair enough you can't expect a writer even a good one to be funny every single time but what you can do is hope that they give us something that will at the very least raise a smile out of us the audience which is something that does happen in this very episode but at the same time this episode really could have dine with having less cute jokes and more actually funny jokes as those are the jokes that people will remember where as the cute jokes will be forgotten about right a way.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly forty nine minuets and one second. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for this show to have in the first place and to this episodes credit it really does have the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time yet even with that in mind this episode really doesn't take as full advantage of it's running time as it really could have done as the plot of the episode isn't as developed as it really should have been and it's guest characters aren't as developed as they really could have been either and while yes the makers of the show openly admitted that they were making a bad show that still doesn't mean that you can't develop your plot and your guest characters as your main character will always get developed over the course of the show and so you don't really have to focus on developing them all that much but what you do have to do is focus on developing your plot so that it feels like the events in the plot are natural and organic and you have to develop your guest characters so that us the audience can either love or hate them and while the episode does have a good villain in Lester Starr even he's not that fully developed as a character with us the audience not really getting the chance to find out anything about him as a character which is fine for a villain like Boss Hogg as he's a main character of the show and so he would get development over the course of the show but for Lester who is only in this episode he should have been developed a little bit more something which the episode very easily could have done given it's running time but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is ana action show that really does mean that I gave to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt tat the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. However tho at the same time this episodes action wasn't all that good either as it just boiled down to who can hit who the hardest first and that's really it and while that is something that's to expected in this show it is also something that makes the action in this episode feel a bit boring as the episode only has really one action in it with Bo and Luke tricking and then beating up Lester's henchmen / bodyguard Jojo and that's really it and while it's not unusual for this show to have just the one fight scene in it what is unusual is the fact that they don't have that good of a chase scene with the chase scene in this episode being the FBI chasing The Dukes around a junkyard and that's really it and given just how small that junkyard is there's no way that you could have gotten a good car chase scene from that setting which is a shame as a it did have the potential to be a really fun action scene it just needed a bigger setting so that both of the cars would be able to do more stuff in it and that's really it but as things stand this episode really doesn't have a true standout action scene in it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this was a really fun episode at times it was also an episode that could have been alot better then what it was and while the episode does have alot of sweet scenes in it with Daisy's dream of being a writer being followed up on in the season three episode "By-Line, Daisy Duke" it is something that felt like a wasted aspect of the character but it still was something that led to some really sweet scenes in this very episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5.5 out of 10 from me.
