Worzel Gummidge "Captain Worzel" Review

With many TV shows you know exactly what kind of episode that your going to be getting just from the genre of the show in question. Well Worzel Gummidge the opposite is true as one episode might be a funny one and then the very next episode might be a really scary one and the one after that might be a sad one all of of which make it really hard to predict what episode of the show your going to be getting from week to week with the episode that i'm going to be reviewing for you all today being a really funny episode and so then join me as I review the episode that really is just pure fun to watch with the episode in question being called simply just "Captain Worzel" enjoy.

The plot of the episode is when his discovers that his beloved Aunt Sally is going to be sold of to a museum Worzel sets of with Saucy Nancy to stop the sale from happening and have fun along the way. Now then interms of what Im personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode being really good with the plot of the episode being just as fun as you'd both expect and want from this classic series and yet at the same time it's also a plot that's also really mature and doesn't really talk down to it's kid target audience which is something that it would have been very easy to do given what the plot of the episode even is in the first place with the plot of the episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge , Michael Ripper as Mr. Shepherd and Una Stubbs as Aunt Sally. Also starring in this episode is the late Dame Barbara Windsor as Saucy Nancy , Blake Butler as The Boatyard owner as Kate David as The Cashier , Laurence Harrington as Cyril , Norman Mitchell as P.C. Parsons , Keith Smith as Mr. Pursglove and Geoffrey Bayldon as The Crowman.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us n this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Which is always nothing new for this show as this show has alot of really good actors starring in it with all of this episodes cast turning in some really wonderful and funny performances with the same thing also being true for the actors that only show up in this episode as they do leave mark on us the audience this is despite them only being in one scene which is a testament to how good of a director that this shows shows director James Hill really was as he knew how to get a good performance out all of his cast members with the acting in this episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script was so good that all the cast of this have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally.

In a rather shocking move this episode sees Mr. Shepherd be given a much more larger role then being that of a side character. As the character would usually be seen as more of a side character who would only appear in a few scenes in any given episodes and yet in this episode he plays a bigger role in the episode then The Crowman who here is given more of a cameo role only appearing near the beginning and near the end of the episode and to the episodes credit the episode does take this chance to expand a little bit on the character of Mr. Shepherd by explaining a little bit about his family history with him saying that several members of his family all worked on ships which was a small piece of information but it's still better then nothing and it's something that does play a part in the episode as Mr. Shepherd himself a piloting a small boat but at the same time he is a rather one note character that being someone who is a grumpy person and that isn't enough to make him a major character in any episode of this show which is something that the makers of this episode chose not to fix for some rather unknown and really strange reason.

This episode is a very good example of just how fun that this series can be as this episode is exactly that it's fun. With apart of what makes the episode being the banter between Aunt Sally and Saucy Nancy with the two of them just hurling insults at each other at every possible chance that they get  but that's not the only thing that makes the episode as Jon Pertwee gives us alot of really good and funny faces during some of the episodes more comedic moments which does go to the show that he really did know how to get a laugh out of any situation as on paper the three of them talking in a barge shouldn't be that fun and even the premise of the episode really doesn't allow it self for alot of really fun moments and yet that's exactly what we get with the episode being just pure fun to watch and it being clear as day that all of the cast had a blast working on this episode as they got to be silly and be payed for it and heck even Mr. Shepherd gets to have some really fun moments in this episode as well which is something that very rarely if ever happens in alot of the other episodes of this show.

While yes this episode does follow the series four by having alot of focus on Aunt Sally which would normally be a bad thing as she's not that likable of a character. Here it's something that oddly works with her anger being quite clearly justified as it's Worzel that ruins her chance to go out and see the world all because he thought that she was in danger when in fact she was only being taken to a potential buyer but at the same time his actions came from a kind hearted place as he does care for Aunt Sally even tho it gets him into quite alot of trouble alot of the time and even tho she abuses him both physically and mentally all of the time he still adores and would still do anything for her with the fact that Worzel wanting to be rescue her being something that could have been avoided all by having Aunt Sally explain to Worzel very early on what's actually happening but the fact that she didn't do that could be boiled down to the fact that there both naive.

We do get a scene where apart of Worzel's body does indeed fall of but instead of being the big incident that ends the episode it's instead something that leads us into the episodes third act. Which both does and doesn't work for the episode it does work in that it does go against expectations as something like that at this point in the shows run would usually be used to end the episodes storyline but at the same time it doesn't work in this episodes favor as the actual incident that ends the episode just isn't as impactful as the actual ending incident is Worzel throwing a rope on Aunt Sally and speeding away with her with Saucy Nancy driving the sped boat that the pair are riding on which does work as a way to have Worzel end the episode but Worzel having his arm ripped off really works better as it would teach Worzel not to get involved in something that doesn't involve him as was really happening in this episode but for some strange reason the episode doesn't do that as the maker of this episode chose to give a really fairly weak learning then what they quite possibly could have had if they chose to have Worzel learn a life lesson of some sort.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this episodes grand total running time even was I do know that for a fact that this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly twenty six minuets. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for this episode show to have and to the episodes credit it does make the most of that running time but at the same time tho the episode could have used a little bit longer of a running time just because of the fact that the episode really was just that fun to watch but at the same time tho the episode doesn't have alot of plot anyway to begin with and as a result of this is that by giving the episodes a longer running time even by five minuets then the episode really would be stretching the plot of the episode really fairly thinner then what it already is but with a longer running time the episode really could have delved more into Mr. Shepherd as a character tho but I will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With the episode having alot of really good and painfully moments in it with alot of this episodes best and most funniest moments being alot of the faces that Jon Pertwee makes during alot of the episodes more slapstick comedy moments and the fact that Jon Pertwee tried and fails to do an Australian accent but he's not the only one that gets alot of laughs as alot of the episodes cast get alot of really funny moments with the banter between Aunt Sally and Saucy Nancy being a good example about that as alot of the insults that they throw at each other whilst childish perfectly fits in with there characters as any character from this show would use very childlike insults and alot of them frequently really do more often then not to some really painfully funny results in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this episode is indeed a really good example of what this show can be like when it's a really fun episode of the show it's also an episode that does have alot of flaws to it alot of which really are some very major issues that should have been fixed at the script writing or even filming stage of this episodes production in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Amazon . Co . Uk , Wikipedia and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very episode that I used in this very review being the really great and really legendary Google Images simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not really all of the images that are all really from this episode and are really of course on Google Images are all really all fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.

Some Of My Favorite Disney Renaissance Films From Worst To Best

Disney is a company that has shaped all of our childhoods be it from there wonderful short films or there fantastic animated feature films. They've always been there for us when we really needed them the most and while yes the company has fallen on stony ground as of late that really doesn't excuse the fact that when they are at there best they really can knock it out of the park and so then join me as I tell you what some of my favorite Disney Renaissance films are all from worst to best.

Pocahontas

To be frank this film really isn't all that bad but at the same time it's not all that good either with it's biggest sin being the fact that it's just straight up boring. With nothing really happening for the vast majority of the films running time and when you add in the fact that Disney in all honesty thought that this film was going to do better then The Lion King it makes you wonder why they didn't put alot more effort into crafting a film that really could have been better then The Lion King as the film had all of the potential to be one of the greatest Disney films ever made and yet it just wasn't all that good of a film and this is not including the fact that the romance between John and Pocahontas just felt incredibly forced as the two of them barely spend any time together to make there romance seem believable and while yes this is also true for alot of the classic Disney films those films were still trying to figure out how to be a good Disney film where as by this point they should have really nailed it home on how to make a good Disney film.

As was just stated this film had all of the potential to be one of the greatest Disney films ever made purely based of off the fact that unlike alot of the films made around this same tie period this one is actually based of off a real person. Yet even so they managed to get so much about her life wrong alot of which is fairly understood as alot of it just really wouldn't work all that well in a Disney film but when you commit to making a film about a person's life you owe it to that person to be as really faithful to their life story as you can be and as a result when you mess that up as this film did you going to make alot of people who really knew what this person's life both was before , during and after the events of this film really mad as they've actually done the research to find out what this person's life was actually like.

Hercules

Unlike the previous film in this post this film whilst still being a fairly bad film for this time period is at the very least an entertaining film. As the film does have alot of performances that are so iconic that people are actively asking Disney to cast the same actors for the upcoming live action remake and heck alot of what makes this films performances work is the fact that the characters are perfectly well cast which is also true for the previous film as well with the standout performer in this film being the great James Woods who just nails it as Hades so much so that he actively said that will be willing to come back if they ever need him to voice the character in anything ever again as he just loves playing the character that much and it's not that hard to see why as he really is an entertaining character that can be painfully funny at times and yet also be really scary and downright creepy at other times and sometimes even in the exact same scene which is always hard to do.

However just like with the previous film this film does suffer quite a few issues the first of which is the fact that for a musical there aren't that many actual songs in the film which granted is a small issue but it's still an issue none the less. Another issue but one that's fairly major is the fact that the film openly ignores parts of Zeus's character that we know from various history books like the fact that he wasn't that good of a father or the fact that he openly cheated on his wife which was something that she knew about and speaking of his wife due to Zeus cheating on her she was known to be a bit of diva often going into fits of rage whenever she didn't get her way and these aspects of both of those two characters shouldn't be ignored as it's something that could also serve as warning to Hercules of who he could've become like if he was taken from his father as baby boy.

The Hunchback Of Notre Dame

This film is undoubtedly the darkest film to come out of Disney during the Disney Renaissance era as the film touches upon themes that other films never even touched. Like for example child abuse , racism and to a lesser degree sexism all of which are themes and subjects that would never be touched upon in other Disney films and yet not only do this film touch upon each and every one of those subjects it tackles them all in way that is both family friendly enough to be in a Disney film but also dark enough to be considered mature and adult with the film being a very loose adaptation of the novel of  the same name by Victor Hugo the film dares to be something that other Disney films both before and since haven't been and that's thought provoking as this film makes you think about what it's talking about.

While this film does have some very minor issues like the annoying side comic relief characters who are there just to add bad comedy to the film and the fact that the romance between Esmeralda and Captain Phoebus does seem a little rushed you could also argue that that's the point as well as they are dealing with more serious issues as well. With the true standout for the film being the animation which is truly breathtaking to look at as it's something that not only looked great all the way back in 1996 but it's something that still holds up all of these years later with the visuals really being one of the best parts of the film next to the films songs of course but with the animation to bring alot of those songs to life alot of them just wouldn't hit home the same way that they do know as that's just how good the animation in this film and it makes you wonder why how managed to screw up the animation of the sequel film so badly as the animation in this film is just that good.

The Little Mermaid

The film that really did get this truly iconic era of Disney films going it's easy to forget just what big of an impact that this film had on Disney and indeed still does have on them today. As without this film being as good as at was the Disney Renaissance as we know it to be today might not have ever happened as Disney Animation was loosing quite alot of money and it's the kind of pressure that led them to going to back to what worked in the first place and that's fairy tails and telling universal stories and that's exactly what the plot of this film is as it's story is one that anyone can relate to in some shape or form and when you add in the fact that the film has animation whilst it does look dated today in some eras easily looks alot better then the animation that we're getting from the same studio today as alot more care and attention went into the animation of this film then what alot of the time goes into the animation in films being made today.

While this film does have some issues like the fact that the romance between Ariel and Eric wasn't all that good and the fact that the Eric doesn't have much of a personality out side of the fact that he likes to sail and that's really it. What really makes it work in this film as opposed to Pocahontas is the fact that the film is just pure fun to watch and isn't trying to be this deeply dark and serious film like Pocahontas was as this is a film that knows that it's a cheesy romantic and isn't afraid to be nothing more then that and when you add in the fact all of the songs of this film are well and true Disney classic it's really easy to see why this film really is as good as it was with this film being so good that people really were opposed to even just the idea of remaking the film in the first place let alone everything that really came after it and yet those same people still tuned in week after week to see the TV series as they just loved the character of Ariel really all that much.

Mulan

Unlike alot of the films that were released during the Disney Renaissance which were mostly based on either myths or fair tales/ This one is depending on who you ask based of off a real person from Chinese folklore with her story being wonderfully bought to life in this film with this film featuring some very truly stunning animation and voice acting with the film also having some really good dramatic moments none of which are undercut with the films more over the top comedic moments when it very easily could have been as we Eddy Murphy providing the comic relief and yet he's actually very subtle with his comedy playing something straight when it needs to be played straight and going all out over the top when the scene allows for that to be the case and yet even so while the film is indeed based of off a real life person it also doesn't go as far as it really cold have done with that aspect like for example the film doesn't tell us all that much about the Hua Mulan was as a person.

While the film does have some truly wonderful animation to it and some truly wonderful acting within it. The film does also very sadly have some things that let it down like the fact that the films songs aren't that good yes there are some good songs in there like for example "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" and "Reflection" but that's really it with the rest of the films songs being really bland and forgettable and the films whilst something new and different just isn't that good for the most part as while yes there are some interesting parts in the films plot like the fact that Mulan is doing this for her father is an interesting aspect to the films plot but the film does nothing with that aspect of the plot of the film as the father never really gets brought up again and while yes the film does show Mulan struggling to hide the fact that she's really a woman in an all boys army it's not enough to make that part of the plot all that more interesting then what it already is with the film also having a really rather weak romance subplot which felt out of place for this film to have in the first place.

Beauty And The Beast

If the previous film in this post made alot of mistakes when it came to the romance aspect of the film then this film made sure to correct all of those mistakes. As my god this film is perhaps the most romantic Disney film ever made and lot of that does come down to the fact that the romance between Belle and The Beast is really well handled with the characters seen going from people who can't stand to be in the same room as each other , to friends and to eventually more then friends and all of that seems alot more believable then the romance that in other Disney films as here we get to spend quite alot of time with them and we there for get to know them as characters and while yes there is always that ticking time boom of the final flower petal about to bloom it's not something that gets in the way of the romance as if the romance in the film doesn't work then the whole story doesn't  work and this is something that the makers of this film really did well and truly understand.

It really does go without does go without saying that one of if not the best parts about the whole film is the animation. As the animation in this film truly fantastic to look at and it's something that helped to advance the field of animation as before this film came out there had never been 2D animation mixed in 3D CGI animation in way that looked good and didn't take away from the scene and actually didn't look like 3D CGI whereas in alot of the films that tried that exact same thing even in Disney films alot of it really just looked like it was 3D animation and that most likely took people out of the film in question whereas here in this film the two really blend together perfectly so much so that if you were kid watching this film in the nineties nine times of ten you really didn't know that what you was seeing wasn't drawn on paper but was instead done in a computer.

The Lion King

Of curse this film had to be the best film released during the Disney Renaissance as this film is frequently cited as one of if not the best animated films released by Disney. Again so much so that people even questioned the need to a "live action" remake as not only is there no way to tell this films story in live action but also because of the fact that this film already told it's story so perfectly the first time that it made the whole point behind doing a remake seem even more pointless and what's all the more shocking is that Disney didn't consider this film a top priority for them when it was being made and as such they assembled what they considered to be there "b team" series of animators to work on this film while every one else worked on Pocahontas and yet all that did was light a fire underneath the people who animated this film as this films animation is truly gorgeous to look at from every single point of view.

Also helping to make this film as good as it is is the fact that every single thing about the film not only works but works well. With all of the songs being catchy songs that are still being played today with this also being helped by the fact that all of the films songs are really well written which is of no surprise as this films songs were written by the great singer and songwriter Sir Elton John and the great songwriter Tim Rice both of whom are really great singer and songwriters with this being helped by the fact that the films all of the songs are all really well sung with alot of them also really adding to either the plot of the film or the characters own personal characters arcs as well all of which make the films song both really good and really memorable as well all of which really make of this films songs some truly classic Disney songs that are still loved to this very day in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very post well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very post from the official Disney fandom wiki page and IMP Awards . Com. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images for this very post that I used in this very review being the great and legendary the official Disney fandom wiki page simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not all of the images that are really from this episode and are of course on the official Disney fandom wiki page are really all fairly high in quality and as well as really them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.

Doctor Who: The Ark Review

There are alot of episodes of Doctor Who currently up on BBC IPlayer with the service holding around eight hundred hours of classic Doctor Who. However sadly that does mean that we get alot of missing episodes and alot of the classic seasons being incomplete usually this doesn't really effect the show as the show could just animated them using what little material survived however that isn't the case for the episode that proceeded this one as it was the previous episode that introduced a new companion with this episode being the closest earliest episode to feature the character of Dodo and so then join me as I review the episode that sees The Doctor and his companions battle with the common cold with the episode in question being called simply just "The Ark" enjoy.

The plot of the episode when The Doctor's newest companion Dodo accidentally passes on her cold to a group of humans living on a space ship it's up to The Doctor to cure them and stop something sinister from happening all before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad altho at the same the episode does feel like it's got two separate plots as the first two episodes of the show have the plot described above and the final two episodes have a completely different plot that's only very barely tied to the plot of the first two episodes with the plot of the episode as a whole being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is William Hartnell as The Doctor , Peter Purves as Steven Taylor and Jackie Lane as Dodo Chaplet. Also starring in this episode is Eric Elliott as The Commander , Inigo Jackson as Zentos , Roy Spencer as Manyak , Michael Sheard as Rhos , Kate Newman as Mellium , Ian Frost as Baccu , Brian Wright as Dassuk , Eileen Helsby as Venussa , Terence Bayler as Yendom , Roy Skelton as The Voice Of The Monoids , John Halstead as The Voice Of The Monoids , Richard Beale as The Voice Of Refusian.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Which is really nothing new for this show at all but even with that said the acting in this episode quite clearly isn't the best kind of acting to come from the William Hartnell era none of this is the fault of the cast as they are only being told to act to certain way and while the likes of William Hartnell and Peter Purves do indeed turn in some solid performances in this episode which does make sense as they've been playing there characters for a while now the same thing cannot be said for Jackie Lane who is trying but she and the rest of the cast cannot make this episodes work well enough for them with the episodes script being so bad that it really gives none of the cast absolutely nothing to work with interms of what there characters personalities are in the first place.

As was mentioned at the start of this review this is the earliest surviving episode to feature the character of Dodo Chaplet. This character really doesn't have alot of things going for her as she was just there to be a transition companion as she leaves the show by the end of this third series of the show but what little of her personality that we get from her from his show does make her seem like a fun companion as she is a fun and spunky companion at times but at the same time we the audience aren't really given a reason to care for her character and it doesn't help that she doesn't have a whole lot to do in this episode with her feeling really more like a background character then a main character as she just does nothing for a large portion of the episodes running time and as a result of this the character really does come across as being a really underdeveloped character with even her friendship with Steven not really being developed all that well either.

For classic Doctor Who this episode really does have some fairly impressive sets to it which is even shocking when you take into account that the show especially during it's classic era didn't have that big of budget. Yet even with that working against it this episode really did pull of some massive sets which looked really good and rather rightfully they made sure to film alot of scenes in the huge spaceship set as alot of the four episodes take place in this one spaceship however while a massive set is something that works well enough for the James Bond films as those kinds of sets work well enough for those films it's not something that works well for this series as for Doctor Who bigger doesn't equal better as instead you'd want something that's a little bit smaller but still has alot of character to it and something that your able to make scary and while yes the TARDIS interior is a massive that is something that works for the show as they have to fit in large amount of people and it adds to the science fiction aspect of the show as well.

As was stated at the start of this review this episode feels like an episode of two halves of the first two episodes have one story and one set of characters whilst the remaining two episodes have a wholly different story and a different set of characters as well. With the two sets of episodes only being very loosely linked with this really being an issue for the episode as the plot for the first two episodes is fairly dumb yet enjoyably so with there characters being just bland where as with the other two episodes it's the opposite that's true and that makes it hard to fully judge this episode with the two story split feeling like they released that the plot for the first episodes wasn't strong enough to carry four episodes and as a result of this they quickly came up with a plot for the remaining four episodes as it's in those episodes where we get alot of plot and all of this make you wonder why they didn't just focus on creating a good story for those first two episodes as they had alot of potential for those characters and for that story to be really well done and yet because they chose to have different stories it makes both sets of episodes come across as being rather bad because of it.

Classic Doctor Who is known for having some production issues especially late into the William Hartnell era and yet this episode has a few issues that they kept in like the fact that William Hartnell flubs a line in episode one which they don't even hide and the fact that after being shrunken to death you can see the back of the person that got killed moments after he got killed in the same episode. While yes they couldn't really help those issues as they couldn't really do alot of editing they are still issues that standout a mile and all they do is take you out of the episode as they just remind you that your not only watching a TV show but they also remind you that your watching a late William Hartnell episode of the show and while yes the episode does have some really creepy looking villains having creepy looking villains doesn't get you sucked back into the story after seeing the back of an actor who's character just got shrunken to death in a strange looking object.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this episodes running time even was I do know that for a fact that this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly one hour ad thirty minuets. Which is solid running time as the episode really doesn't have alot of plot to cover anything longer then the four episodes that it lasts for but with saying that the episode could have gotten away with picking one plot over the other and have it just be three episodes long as that would have made the episode alot more snappy but given that they basically added two stories into this one episode it means that both stories don't have the time that they need to breathe and to be fully developed as they really could have been as either story had the potential to be a fun Doctor Who story they both just needed the time needed to be fully developed but I will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As classic Doctor Who wasn't really known for having good action scenes in it due to it's small budget and the same thing is true here as we only get two action scenes in the whole episode and there both in the final two episodes of this story and both of which do look good for the incredibly small budget that this era of the show had and yet they still managed to the action both compelling and incredibly exciting to watch as due to that small budget they have to get creative and they have t make every single second count with the episodes action scenes which is something that they very easily pull off and manage to do quite easily in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this wasn't a bad episode but at the same time it wasn't a good one either as the episode does have quite of faults in it all of which combine to make it an episode that could have been good or even great and yet it just can't because of all of those faults and the fact that it's basically two different stories told in four episodes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Doctor Who fandom wiki page , Wikipedia and Google Images.

Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins Film Review

Even tho Scooby-Doo has a proven track record with animated properties Hollywood seems to think that live action is where the franchises future lies. As they really keep on trying to make a live action Scooby-Doo movie that's actually good and yet they all keep on getting worse and worse with each passing entry with the very film that i'm going to be talking about today being one such an example of why this franchise works best in animation and so then join me as I review the film that really didn't need to be made with the film in question being called simply just "Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when they are unjustly suspended Shaggy , Fred , Daphne and Velma set out to prove that there school really is haunted and put a stop to the hauntings once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual, plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad with the plot of the film being really obvious with all of the films major plot points really being seen coming a mile away which makes the plot of the film including it's twist ending really predictable with this not really being helped by the fact that the plot of film had the potential to be really good it just needed some decent writers to write it and a decent director to help to bring it to life with the plot of the film being really rather entertaining and also really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Nick Palatas as Norville "Shaggy" Rogers , Robbie Amell as Fred Jones and Hayley Kiyoko as Velma Dinkley. Also starring in this film is Kate Melton as Daphne Blake , Shawn Macdonald as Principal Deedle , Daniel Riordan as Dark Specter , Gary Chalk as Vice Principal Grimes , Leah James as Prudence Prufrock , Brian Sutton as Ezekiel Gallows , C. Ernst Harth as Otis The Janitor , Lorena Gale as The Librarian and voice acting and Scooby-Doo legend Frank Welker as The Voice Of Scooby-Doo.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual film that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As alot of this films cast are quite clearly trying to make this films terrible and cliche ridden script work for them but none of this films cast can turn in a good performance as the script just isn't that good even for a live action Scooby-Doo film which typically don't have good scripts in them the script for this film was just plain awful with the only good actors in this film being both Frank Welker and Nick Palatas with the acting in this film not really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so bad that it gives none of the cast absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personality is even meant to be in this film and that is something that really does effect the overall quality of the acting in this film and as a result of that is the fact that we get some really bad acting.

Doing the CGI for this film is Animation Picture Company , Stargate Studios , Digiart Productions and SFX Studio. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that;s actually featured ;/ presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad which in some ways does make sense as this film most likely didn't have that big of a budget when compared to the theatrically released live action Scooby-Doo films but this films CGI is still really bad with Scooby-Doo himself being really weird looking and bad looking as well as he's meant to be the cartoon design done in live action but the issue is tho is that that design doesn't work in live action and as result we get an ugly looking Scooby-Doo design with some painfully bad looking CGI on top of all of that.

This film is meant to be prequel film but it's hard to say what it's a prequel to as the second live action film established that the characters had met each other pretty much since they were kids and it's not a prequel to the original show as this film has lots of modern day technology. Which does make it hard to say which one this film is a prequel as it can't be a prequel to either of them without seriously retconning alot of things from both the original show and the second live action movie as a result it would be better of if this film was set in it's continuity as that would mean that they could then just go ahead and do there own thing and not have to worry about it messing up with established continuity and yet because it doesn't do any of that and heck it even ends with them teasing what would be the first episode of Scooby-Doo Where Are You which is a nice little easter egg but at the same time it also makes hard to work out which one this is a prequel to at the exact time.

For some reason this film chose to have alot of cartoon logic moments in it all of which just don't work at all. As it's something that asks us the audience to suspend our disbelief just a bit to far and yet if this film was an animated thew cartoon logic would work as that disbelief is already being suspended due the fact that it's animated and here we have an animated CGI character in a real world but he's acting and doing things that would and could only work in cartoons this was something that for better or for the worse the Raja Gosnell films understood as while yes they did have Scooby acting like a cartoon character it was done very sparingly and so you could give them credit for it but here it's done all of the time and while it's funny when they do it once it's not that funny when they do it several times in a row with no break inbetween and that just hits home that the while the writers of this film might have been fans of the show they don't understand that what worked in the show might not work when it comes to doing it in live action.

To give this film some sort of credit they do try to create a somewhat good mystery however with that being said when you think about this mystery for even a second the whole mystery just starts to fall apart. As there are alot of moments that the characters weren't there for that they now can suddenly hear all because of the fact that the plot demands that that character be a suspect and when you add in the fact that the films villain really isn't all that good or threatening as it's really easy to work out who the main villain as all you have to is see who the film isn't strongly hinting is the main villain but at the same time he's reason for being evil is unique as he's only evil because he wants to get a unique stamp which is something that hasn't been done in previous Scooby-Doo media but at the same time he's a villain that really did need to more threatening just to sell the fact that he could be a serious threat to the characters and yet they don't do that for some rather unknown reason and that does make him feel like he's an after thought or at best a really forgettable Scooby-Doo villain that was only there just because of the fact that they needed a villain and really nothing all the more then that.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty minuets and seven seconds. Which is a solid running time for this film to have as when you really get down to it this film really doesn't have alot of plot there to cover anything longer then that and while it would have been nice if this film did indeed have a much more longer running as that would allow them to flesh out the gangs personalities alot more and it would also allow them to make the villain an actually scary villain it would also be stretching the films plot even thinner then what it already is but it would have been nice if the film was shorter just because of the fact that it would mean that alot of the films faults would seem alot more smaller then what they already are as we the audience wouldn't be forced to really focus on them all that much as we are now and the plot of the film really would also be alot more focused then what it is now but I will admit that the film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / Presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad. As apart from maybe one or two moments with Shaggy and Scooby early on in the film there's nothing that's all that funny in this film as this film has alot of painfully unfunny jokes in it that not even the films target audience of little kids would most likely find to be all that funny and while yes the original films didn't have that many funny jokes in them either those films at least tried to be funny where as with this film it came across as if the makers of the film really just couldn't be bothered to come up with anything funny in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while yes this film could be enjoyable in some aspects it also fails in alot more other aspects as well and heck this film is so bad that it makes the directors previous two Hanna-Barbera films The Flintstones and The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas look like masterpieces by comparison in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very review really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 4.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Scooby-Doo fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very film that I used in this very review being Google Images simply just due to the fact that alot of the images that are on Google Images are all really fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.

Akame Ga Kill! "Kill The Darkness" Review

While there are alot of anime that get popular and stay popular so much so that they breakthrough to the mainstream audiences. There are sadly quite alot of anime that are only popular for the time that they are airing and then they sadly fade away never to be heard of ever again as is the case with the show that i'm going to be talking about as back in 2014 this show was quite popular but once it finished airing new episodes it stopped being talked about eventually fading away into obscurity and so then join me as I review the episode that makes you believe that the bad guys are the good guys with the episodes in question being called simply just "Kill The Darkness" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when a young swordsman named Tatsumi travels to the capitol to help his impoverished village he finds that every thing is not as it seems and his whole gets turned upside down forever. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us n this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad but that's also the problem as the plot for this episode wasn't all that good as it was a bit on thin side with the plot of the episode really only kicking in in the final ten or so minuets of the episode with the rest of the episode not really adding all that much to the actual plot of the episode with the plot of the episode being really entertaining and also being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Corey Hartzog as Tatsumi , Allison Keith-Shipp as Leone and Brittney Karbowski as Aria. Also starring in this episode is Mike Vance as Gaurry , Carl Masterson as Aria's Father , Allison Sumrall as Aria's Mother , Patrick Poole as Ieyasu , Margaret McDonald as Sayo , Jessica Boone as Sheele , Tyler Galindo as Lubbock , David Wald as Bulat , Christina Kelly as Mine , Adam Noble as Merchant A , Gabriel Regojo as The Bartender and One Piece star Molly Searcy as Akame.

Now then  interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented t us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As this episodes cast do turn in some fairly decent performances the issue is tho is that the acting in this episode isn't all that good either as it just comes across as if the cast are just phoning in their performances alot of the time with the only one actually trying to turn in a decent performance is Allison Keith-Shipp as Leone who really is just a pure joy to listen to in this episode but the acting that's in this episode really isn't helped by the fact that the script for this episode just isn't all that good as it gives none of the episodes cast really absolutely nothing to wrong with interms of what there characters personalities are even meant to really be in the first place and that is something that really does effect the overall quality of the acting in this episode as this episodes script really just all of that bad.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at WHITE FOX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this episode was in all honesty not that bad as the animation in this episode was alot better then what it really could have been but at the same time tho the episodes animation isn't as good as it really should have been as the animation just felt flat with the backgrounds not being all that interesting or even detailed when other TV anime have very highly detailed backgrounds with the animation not being helped by the fact that the characters have some really stiff movements like all of which adds up to the animation in this episode feeling like it's unfinished.

We do get would could be seen as a tragic backstory for Tatsumi , Ieyasu and Sayo as all three of them are friends and yet due to circumstances that happen prior to the episode the three end up separated. While the three do indeed meet up again it's not under the circumstances that you'd want it to be as both Ieyasu and Sayo end up dead which does make there backstory and them being split up even more tragic then what it already is as while they are indeed trying to save there village from essentially dieing out when they get separated it's not the last time that Tatsumi saw Sayo alive with all three of them meant to be each others best friend with Tatsumi even witnessing the death of his other best friend Ieyasu first hand and while this backstory doesn't really hit as much as it should as this is only the first episode it hits in the way that it tells us that this world isn't one where the good guys will always come out on top and that some times the bad guys will win the fight.

One of the things that really does let this episode down is the fact that the world isn't as fully established as it really could have been. Which odes make sense as this is only the first episode of the show and the show did have twenty four episodes and as a result to expect things to be fully established in the first episode wouldn't be the wisest thing but at the same time when you start of a rocky foundations like this shows world building is it really doesn't matter how good things get later on in the show as the foundations will always be badly done and as a result it would have been nice if in this episode we got some information about how this world works and how that world got to be as bad as it was and why the rich people in this world are as bad as they are instead of not even touching on any of them and as a result of that the episode would have been better as it would have made all of those ideas seem alot more thought out then what it already is.

One of the many things that actually worked for this episode is the fact that it plays with your expectation. As usually in an anime when you see someone take a character in off the streets then there usually the good guy and are to be trusted and when someone attacks the house that that character is staying at then there usually the bad guy and yet in this episode they flip that around by having the rich people be the bad guys and the attackers be the good guys which was something that worked out really well as it tells you that nobody in this world is trust worthy as any of them could be about to kill you at any moment and it forces you to wonder who Tatsumi can actually trust all due to the events of this episode and while Aria and her parents aren't really that threatening of villains they do make for some solid villains for this debut as they are basically the first boss that you'd fight in a video game and thus aren't really meant to be as threatening as the main villain.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty three minuets and forty one seconds. Which is a solid running time for this debut to have as the episode does have more then enough plot there tom really cover that amount f running time but at the same time tho it would have been better if this episode did have a much more longer running time just so that the episode could flesh out it's characters a bit more and so that the episodes could also flesh out it's story a little bit more then what it already does and with the added running time the film could also flesh out the world that the show takes place in as well as this would have the add on effect of making the world feel alot more real but it would also have the add on effect of stretching what is already a fairly thin plot even thinner as it would mean adding in scenes that would add nothing to the overall plot of the episode but I will admit hat this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought // felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With the episodes action being the best part of the episode as that's where we get to see some really creative and just down right cool moments in this episode with the action in this episode being really exciting when it needs to be and also being really creepy and scary when it really has to be with alot of this episodes action scenes also being home to the episodes more over the top bloody and gory moments as well all of which make the action in this episode all the more fun to watch in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really fun filled episode to watch with this episode also proving why this show was as popular as it was when it first debuted as the episode does have alot of the over the top gore and action that the show would become known for but at the same time it also really shows us why the show didn't stay in the public eye that much as the episode really does offers us nothing interms of world building and lore in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7,5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Akame Ga Kill! fandom wiki page page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very episode that I used in this very review being the great and legendary Google Images simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not all of the images that are really from this episode and are of course on Google Images are really all fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.
