Pokemon The Movie: I Choose You Review

Now then anime fans when i was a little lad like i'm sure most of you were i was a fan of Pokemon i collected the cards , played the games , watched the TV show and watched a few of the movies and it's hard to believe that we are now at Movie 20 for this franchise so how did this anniversary do lets find out.

The plot of the movie is basically that of the first episode mixed in with the fact that Ash and Pikachu want to find the legendary bird Ho-Oh. That's really all there is to the plot now i would say that's all you really need but to be honest if your retelling most of the first season there has to be something that connects all the scenes together and here the story is so thin it's almost hard to see.

Reprising their roles in the english dub are Sarah Natochenny (sadly not Veronica Taylor Ash's first voice actress) and Ikue Ōtani. I can honestly say that these two are pretty good in the movie altho i have to say that Sarah doesn't sound like a ten year old boy she sounds like a teenager at this point. Those two are joined by David Oliver Nelson and Suzy Myers who are pretty much playing Brock and Misty clones and honestly there fine in the movie that's really all i can say about them since the movie doesn't give you the time to care for them.

Animation wise you can tell that alot of effort went into it and it really does show this film is really well animated it's certainly better animated then the first series was but that's to be expected since the team are now more confident in what they can do plus everything looks so beautiful as well.

What i didn't like about this movie was the fact that it rushes through big plot points the whole first episode is done with in less then nine minuets and that includes the whole bird attack which is pivotal to the show all of the major moments that worked in the series worked because we were given time to connect with the characters here tho it doesn't work because the movie is more interested in rushing through scenes rather then letting us get to know the characters.

I do have to say that i am glad that the english language version of the film does use a cover version of the original theme song yes it's a terrible cover but i'm so glad that they used that song since to me that songs is a huge part of the franchise.

Overall if your a Pokemon fan then you might like this just be ah were that alot of things get changed for me tho this movie is a 7 out of 10.

Why I Think Infinity Train Needs To be Picked Up

Pretty much everyone who loved cartoons has talked about this pilot and this very subject (shows how original i am) but it's something that has to be mentioned again due to rumors that it's secretly been picked up so here is why i think Infinity Train needs to be picked up.

Shows Ending

I've quickly gone through what's airing on Cartoon Networks Wikipedia and alot of their shows that are currently on the air have either announced that they are ending those being Adventure Time , Clarence and if rumors are to be believed Teen Titans Go! and there's also a possibility that We Bare Bears is ending since no new season has been announced. Still tho with all of those shows either coming to an end or rumored to be ending Cartoon Network will need a new show to help fill in the gap and what better then a show that already has a fanbase.

It All Ready Has A Fanbase

Now i've already mentioned that this show has a fanbase and that's no more evident that in the amount of views that the pilot episode has as of this writing the pilot nearly has three million hits on YouTube the exact number is 2,946,583 either way the pilot has been a proven hit and that's not to mention all of the theory's that were started just because of the pilot episode and all of the fan art.

It's Different From Their Other Shows

Most of the shows that are currently on CN right now apart from a few others are all slice of life comedy's Infinity Train is a Science Fiction story not only that it actually has some good writing and it treats its audience with some intelligence and i'm not saying other shows don't do that but look at TTG and then look at this you can see straight away that this show is way more adult then it has any right to be.

It Has An Interesting Story

There's not really much more i can say about this since the line above pretty much says it all but tho just from the pilot alone i can tell you that the storyline for this show would be very interesting and it could be full of twists and turns.

So there you have it cartoon fans that is why i think Infinity Train does need to be picked up and with the creator Owen Dennis now back working at Cartoon Network and officially of Close Enough it's possible that the show has already been picked up and that the network will be announcing something either late this year or sometime next year.

My Top 5 Disney Animated Films

Walt Disney has made a ton of great animated films and a lot of them have gone on to become not only animated classics but also film classics as well and like the rest of the world i grew up with Disney films and here are my top 5 and yes i might be including Pixar films as well.

Honorable Mention

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

It's the first film that Walt Disney produced so i couldn't do this list and not feature this movie in some way because with it Walt Disney Studios wouldn't be where it is today.

5) Peter Pan

This was one of the first Disney films i watched with the other being Pinocchio when i was a kid i was way into this movie more then i was the original story but now since i'm older i'm way more into the original story but i still have a place in my heart for this film.

4) Toy Story

This film still holds up to this day it has lovable characters and the animation is truly fantastic and without this film Pixar wouldn't be around to this very day to me this film is a true classic and i truly do love this film and this series.

3) The Jungle Book

I have fond memories of watching this on VHS as a kid this film has some of the best songs heard in any Disney film and this is the last film that was produced by the legendary Walt Disney there's really nothing more i can say about this film.

2) Moana

This is the film that i will say is better then Frozen and Zootopia any day of the week to me this film changes the game for the typical Disney Princess and it helps that the artwork and the animation in this film is stunning it's enough to make anyone cry regardless of how old you are.

1) The Lion King / Inside Out

I honestly couldn't choose which of these two films should be number one because they are both so good and in the case of Inside Out it has the power to make people think about their emotions and both films for me at least are classics hell The Lion King is such a classic it's getting remade and has a smash hit Broadway musical.

My Top 4 Worst Cartoon Network Reboots

As we all know Cartoon Network has made alot of great shows in fact you could argue that some of the best cartoon shows ever made were made by Cartoon Network but i'm not listing there good shows i'm here to list My Top 4 Worst Cartoon Network Reboots.

4) Wacky Races (2017)

I did a review which goes into more detail about why this series is awful and that was after ONE episode so i won't go into two much detail here but it lacks everything the original series had and when you throw in the terrible designs and bad writing it makes for one hell of a bad show.

3) Ben 10 (2016)

This ones so low down on here because i never watched the original series or it's various spin-offs/sequels but even i could tell that this reboot was pretty bad i give the series credit for at least bringing back original voice actress Tara Strong but that doesn't excuse the fact that the show's formula gets old after about the fourth or fifth episode.

2) The Powerpuff Girls (2016)

Now unlike Ben 10 i actually watched alot of the original Powerpuff Girls and i got excited about this new series when it first announced and while i did enjoy a few episodes of this new reboot overall the shows not that good it's a pail imitation of a great show and unlike the original show which was made for both boys and girls this one is more aimed towards a female audience thus missing the point of the original show. Things only got worse for this show for me when they introduced and they quickly got rid of the new character Bliss and i only watched those episodes to see if the show improved and it did not.

1) Teen Titans Go!

Lets be honest you all knew this was going to be here and it's for all the reasons you think as well but what really made me put it here was the fact that this show makes fun of the fans i can handle the mixed writing and the bad jokes but when you start making fun of the people who put you where you are now then there's no going back from that and what's worse is this show has a freaking movie coming out next year.

Daffy Duck's Thanks-For-Giving Special Review

Looney Tunes fans i thought to my self that since as of this writing it's the day before thanks giving i would do a review of the second Looney Tunes thanks giving special so here is my review of Daffy Duck's Thanks-For-Giving Special.

The basic premise of this special sees Daffy trying to pitch a new Duck Dodgers cartoon to a producer and reminds him of all the things the producer has put Daffy through.I have to admit that the premise is really good and it serves as a great way to squeeze in some of Daffy's cartoons.

The special only has one listed voice actor and that's the great Mel Blanc and since this features alot of classic cartoons i won't comment on his acting in those but his acting in the newly animated scenes is really good he still sounded like Daffy and there's a new cartoon and he's honestly pretty good in that one except he seemed to be losing his Marvin The Martian voice.

Again i won't mention the animation in the classic cartoons but the animation in the newer scenes is honestly alot better then i thought it would be and it's better then Bugs Bunny's Bustin Out All Over but it's the animation in the new cartoon that really let me down since it features a classic Daffy Duck character i would have thought that some better animation would have been put into it.

As you can guess by the above picture the special does include Robin Hood Daffy which is honestly one of my favorite Daffy Duck cartoons but this special commits a terrible crime by cutting down alot of great Daffy Duck cartoons they also cut down Drip Along Daffy and The Scarlet Pumpernickel and yet they show pretty much all of His Bitter Half.

Overall this is better then the Bugs Bunny thanks giving special at least in my opinion but like i said it does commit crimes against cartoons be cutting down some great cartoons and yes this does feature the return of Duck Dodgers so for me this special gets a 7 out of 10

Big Hero 6 "Baymax Returns" Review

Well then animation and comics fans it is here the debut episode of Big Hero 6: The Series has finished and now i'm going to give you all my thoughts on this new Disney/Marvel TV series.

The basic plot of this episode is pretty much in the title of the episode but it's also about Yama forcing Hiro to get something for him. that's really all i can say about the plot without going into spoilers but since this is the plot for a premier episode i have to say it's pretty solid i've never seen the film or reads the comic but based of this episode i have a fairly good idea of all the main characters personalities.

Pretty much all of the main cast from the film came back for this series except Damon Wayans, Jr. who is replaced by Khary Payton and T.J. Miller who's replaced by Brooks Wheelan. I have to say that in terms of acting the best performer for me was Ryan Potter who kills it as Hiro but that's not to say that the rest of the cast don't do a good job indeed all of them do and Brooks actually sounds alot like T.J. Miller.

I have to say that in terms of animation this episode wasn't the best since the animation to me felt a little off which is strange because the guys who did Kim Possible worked on this series to me the animation felt like something that would have been made an indie company and not freaking Disney and they've been knocking it out of the park recently with Star Vs The Forces Of Evil and Ducktales.

I couldn't do this review and not talk about the change from CGI to 2D animation to me it makes sense since producing it in CGI would mean having a huge budget and it would mean it would have to be as good as the movie but by shifting it to 2D it means it could be done a lot cheaper and i know alot of people are going to bring up the fact that Dreamworks produces CGI TV shows and to that i say there being done for Netflix and not for cable television so it works differently.

The humor in this episode i thought was very spot on for some reason i found Honey Lemon to be really funny and i don't know why but i can't talk about the humor and not mention Baymax he is just super funny.

Of course the action in the series isn't going to be anything like the movie so don't go expecting the type of action you'd see in a movie but with that being said the action is still pretty top notch we get to see what all the hero's can do and i thought that was really freaking sweet.

Overall this is a pretty solid premier episode altho i believe it messes with the last scene of the movie but it's still worth watching even if you didn't see the movie or read the comic and since it's a premier episode there will not a rating.

Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry Review

Well then Fairy Tail fans here we are once again the second Fairy Tail movie has finally came online with subs which means after months of waiting i get to watch it and tell you all what i thought of the movie so here we go.

Now as far as i could gather the plot revolves around a magic wand that can bring back dragons and that's really it. The story isn't this films strong suit in fact it feels more like an after thought which is bad because the story for the first film was really solid but here it makes the film feel like an extended episode rather then a feature film.

Reprising their roles are Tetsuya Kakihara as Natsu , Aya Hirano as Lucy , Rie Kugimiya as Happy , Yuichi Nakamura as Grey , Sayaka Ohara as Erza , Satomi Satō as Wendy and rounding out the returning cast is Yui Horie as Carla the returning cast are pretty decent in this film i mean they did the best with what they were given and they know there characters inside and out. They are joined by Aoi Yūki as Sonya and Jiro Saito as the films villain Zash the new cast are actually better then the returning cast in this film in my opinion.

Once again the animation was done by A-1 Pictures and to be honest outside of a few scenes early one with Erza and Lucy and the action scenes the animation is the best thing in this movie i could tell that animation got an upgrade from what it is in the show especially in the 2014 series there's more fluid motion and everything looks better.

Now i've already briefly mentioned the action scenes and as per usual they were stunning to look at which is nothing new since doing great looking action scenes is pretty much A-1's bread and butter but they honestly had me pumped up the action scenes were so well done i couldn't wait for the next one to come on but on the downside since the story was lacking i really didn't feel that much during the third act.

Without getting into spoilers for some reason this film has not one but two magical type transformation scenes now one of them made sense but the one featuring Lucy really didn't in my eyes it came from out of know where.

I will however give this film credit for it's use of humor there were alot of scenes in this movie that i felt were really funny and that came at the perfect point and all of the jokes are things that the main characters would actually say or do so for me that really helped because they weren't stopping the film to make the joke.

Another problem i had with the film stems from what i had wrong not only with this film but also another film i saw this week were it felt two short and rushed honestly i think this film would have been better if it was a two hour movie since scenes would have been able to breathe and the story able to progress at more natural pace.

Since the film liked rushing things it meant that for me the emotional moments didn't work as well and i swear to god they made a reference to Pokemon The First Movie during one of those moments and honestly it made me laugh just due to how idiotic it was.

The score for this film was done by series composer Yasuharu Takanashi and i have to say that the music was really done the music is a part of the Fairy Tail franchise so they had to bring that to the movie and they did in full force.

Overall if there wasn't a new series coming in 2018 i would have been very disappointed with this film even more then i already am but it is still worth a watch for long time fans of the franchise so i give this movie a 7 out of 10.

Cartoon History Tom And Jerry

Tom And Jerry are one of the world's best known double acts there cartoons have entertained millions of people across several decades and they are still going strong so it only makes sense that for this Cartoon History we take a look at the worlds best known cat and mouse.

Now we all know that the creators of The Flintstones also created Tom And Jerry but what you might not know is the duo were actually forced to work together since the company that owned the duo MGM had a failing animation division since alot of there cartoons were failing at the box office so for their first cartoon they chose a cat and mouse because as Barbera once said in an interview "We knew we needed two characters. We thought we needed conflict, and chase and action. And a cat after a mouse seemed like a good, basic thought," and in 1940 the duo premiered the first ever Tom And Jerry cartoon called "Puss Gets The Boot".

The look of the characters is very well known but what isn't that well known is that for the first batch of cartoons the duo actually looked more like a cat and mouse i don't know why they chose to redesign the characters but i am glad that they did it since only someone who loves to hurt animals would find it funny that a cat is being abused.

Puss Gets The Boot was such a success that Fred Quimby who ran the animation division pulled the two from other stand alone cartoons to get them to work on more Tom And Jerry cartoons. Now since Tom was originally called Jasper in the debut cartoon Hanna and Barbera held a contest within the studio to name the pair with the prize being $50 and the winner was animator John Carr with the next Tom And Jerry cartoon coming out in 1941 being called "The Midnight Snack" but it still featured the more animal based designs for the characters.

The duo would continue working on until the studio closed down there animation division in 1957 which was a shame because not only was Tom And Jerry a popular series for the studio but they also won alot of awards with seven of their cartoons winning in the short subject category at the Academy Awards.

All was not lost tho as in 1961 MGM brought the characters back this time being animated by a European company called Rembrandt Films and all thirteen of these new shorts were directed by Gene Deitch who also wrote a lot of the shorts as well. These new shorts didn't have a big budget the studio only had $10,000 which meant a lot of the cartoon became more surreal and there was also a downgrade in the quality of animation. Despite all of these setbacks the shorts were from a financial stand point successful but over time they have come to be known as the worst Tom And Jerry cartoons ever made but they do still have there fans Gene and his team only lasted one year with the characters but next in line was some one more Looney.

Chuck Jones had just been fired from his thirty year post at Warner Bros.s when he and partner Les Goldman formed there own studio called Sib Tower 12 Productions which was later renamed MGM Animation/Visual Arts. Starting and in 1963 Jones and crew would go on to produce over thirty more cartoons featuring the duo but tho the duo would go through another change this time looking more in line with Jones's work on the Looney Tunes and more in keeping with his own style of animation Chuck would go on to produce the new cartoons until 1967 but it wouldn't be long before Tom And Jerry made a comeback.

Now here things get a interesting and it's all because of the character Mammy Two Shoes becaise in 1965 the cartoons started airing on CBS but they were heavily edited and because Chuck was required to featuring the character and replace her completely some times she was an overweight white Irish woman and other times she was a skinny white teenager but either way she was voiced by the late June Foray the series lasted until 1972 when Tom And Jerry would return home.

In 1975 Hanna-Barbera would produce a new Tom And Jerry series called The Tom & Jerry Show the half hour series was set years after the shorts and mainly featured the duo as friends you only have to see a certain movie featuring the pair to know why that doesn't work but this series didn't last long tho and the duo soon found a new home and a new series.

The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show debuted in 1980 and was animated Filmation and from what information i can gather the show was more of a verity show and it was the first time that the characters were paired with Droopy and for about ten years this would be the last new Tom And Jerry product.

For there third run with the characters Hanna-Barbera made Tom & Jerry Kids which as the title would suggest featured younger versions of the characters and like the previous series it would also feature the character of Droopy and it ran for seasons but during it's run something terrible happend.

In 1992 Film Roman made Tom and Jerry: The Movie i couldn't find anything about the making of this film but i have a feeling that the makers of the film didn't understand the fact the characters don't talk and they don't become friends it's a simple thing and this movie didn't do it thank god they only made one of these.

As of 2006's Tom and Jerry Tales the duo have been with Warner Bros Animation that series only lasted until 2008 before the Kids WB block was shut down but once again the duo would return with there current series The Tom and Jerry Show which as of this writing is still on the air.

Since 2002 there has been a steady stream of Direct To DVD Movies featuring the duo with the latest one being Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory there's a new film out almost every year but sometimes there's a three year gap between the films but at least there's still new Tom and Jerry content.

Tom And Jerry are legends in the cartoon world and with all this new content there legend will live on forever more.
