Lego DC Super Hero Girls: Brain Drain Review

Hello there comic fans , animation fans and film fans the Dc Superhero Girls brand has been going since 2015 and was launched with a animated web series and has spawned two animated films and has an upcoming TV series which is due to air in 2018 so let's take a look at the brands third movie and there first Lego movie Lego DC Super Hero Girls: Brain Drain.

The plot of this movie is someone is brainwashing the superheroes and it's up to Batgirl , Wonder Woman and Supergirl to find out who it is and what they want and stop them. I give this movie for coming up with a decent story that did actually keep me engaged however i have to mention that since the film is an hour and fifteen minuets long there's a lot of rushed moments and messages which i thought hurt the film.

The cast from the web series all reprise there roles in the movie and those are Anais Fairweather as Supergirl , Grey Griffin as Wonder Woman , Ashlyn Selich as Batgirl , Romi Dames as Lena Luthor and Mona Marshall as Eclipso. I actually enjoyed the cast in the movie altho i do have a few things to say it sounded like Anais's voice was getting tired during the movie and she started to sound alot like Cree Summer and the other thing was almost whenever Grey Griffin was talking i only heard Daphne from Scooby-Doo and i will say that more cast are listed but almost none of them get a speaking role and yes Tara Strong is great in this movie as Harley.

In terms of animation i have to say that the filmmakers did an ok job and by that i mean there's a few scenes or shots that looked a bit dodgy to me but the quality overall was really good i got the impression that Warner Bros and The Lego Group were growing more confident with there movies and for me that's a great thing and they also give Harley alot of great facial expressions which were hilarious.

I have to say that this film had a lot of great funny moments i laughed out loud a few times especially early on in the movie where there's a great fourth wall joke which i won't spoil because it's really funny but tho sadly the film also has a habit of putting in jokes during serious moments which took me out of the film and sadly there's also a burp joke which are never funny at all.

It's not often that i get to talk about the action scene's in these direct to DVD Lego movies but the action in this movie i thought was really well done and was also creative as we get to see two of the three main girls use there superpowers which is something that more comic book movies could do with adding.

Now i couldn't find out who did the music for this film which was fine by me since the score for this film was pretty bland but i have to give the filmmakers credit for opening the movie with the Superhero Girls theme song which is actually pretty catchy and it sums up the brand nicely and they use it at the end as well altho they play the full version at the end.

Overall this is for fans of the web series and for little girls who want or already are into the brand there's alot of jokes that only girls will get as well so with all of this in mind i give this movie a 6 out of 10

Fairy Tail : Another One Bits The Dust

Hello there anime fans it's the day that Fairy Tail fans have dreaded and depending on who you ask a few anime fans have dreaded as well as Fairy Tail 545 aka The Final issue is out and so with that another long running series comes to an end but this post isn't about that it's about celebrating Fairy Tail.

Just to give you a sense of how long this series has been going it started out August 2nd 2006 that's eleven years worth of adventures , laughs and character development and for a long time this was one of the few big anime names and like the series that came before it it to has ended but it's also left us with a lot of happy memory's and for me at least Fairy Tail was always about making people happy.

I know this series has a lot of haters for the fact that the power of friendship always seems to win the day but to me that's not a bad thing as having friends can give you the confidence you need to do anything and yes that includes taking down a whole army plus if you had the choice to either face your enemy on your own but he/she has all of there friends or to face them with your friends which option would you choose.

To give you just a small idea of how successful the manga alone was as of February this year the manga had sold over 60 million copies i won't pretend to know if that's more then Naruto , One Piece or Dragon Ball Super but shifting 60 million copies of anything and yet this piece of work that could have easily have been written of has done it if you like the manga or not you have to respect that.

Now i have a special connection to the Fairy Tail anime since that was what got me into the manga but with that said i can see why people don't like it and the same goes for the manga but with that said i still find the anime and manga enjoyable yes they don't have deep plots and in the case of the anime there's a lot of filler episodes but here's the thing it's a perfect adaptation of the manga and there's a only a few times you can truly say that the anime adapted the manga perfectly the anime was such a success that it's spawned two feature films.

Sticking with the anime for a bit i don't know how many DVD's it's sold but if the manga has sold 60 million copies then i can assume that the anime has shifted around the same amount and that's included the first film not just the series itself and yes i'm including both subbed and dubbed versions of both in there as well.

I give the anime some credit because it helped start the idea of having a long running anime on the air and yes i know about Pokemon but since they change the theme of that show every few years i'm not counting it as a long running series. As a i said before the anime is a perfect adaptation of the manga but since the series was a long running anime that meant we got a lot of filler episodes which weren't needed in my opinion but i'd rather have the filler episodes then have them end the show every few months plus the animation in the show was amazing but there was some dodgy looking animation in the 2014 series.

I think that the thing that Fairy Tail was tug at our heart strings the drama game with this series in both the manga and the anime was strong and i'm thankful for it because when i watch a show or read a book i want to be taken on a roller coaster and that includes going through all the good times and the bad times with the characters to me that makes them more human however what i and i think many disliked was the fact that anyone who died during an arc came back to life and to me that robbed there death scene of all the emotion that it had.

What i discovered while watching this series is that most of the females are actually strong characters they take no BS from the male characters and in terms of Erza are often the ones leading the charge instead of letting the men do all the fighting which could have happened i'm not gonna lie and say the characters in FT are perfect because there not in fact some of the long running jokes where thin quick for me at least but at least they weren't stereotypes.

Overall yes i will be sad that the manga has ended but at the same time there's still the second movie and another series to watch both of which will be bitter sweet but it's better then nothing at all.

GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling Review

Hello there wrestling fans with Netflix's wrestling series GLOW getting great reviews i thought i'd take a look at a 2012 film about Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling called GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling

This is the only documentary i've reviewed where the story of the film is in the actual title so i don't have to explain what it's about but i will say that i;m glad that someone had the courage to tell this story and to get these women who havn't seen each other for decades to take part makes it special.

I admit i can't name all of the people who are in this film since they all have there wrestler names on screen but from what i can workout all of the GLOW girls appear in the movie and what i actually noticed is that one of them actually wrestled for the WWE Ivory herself worked on GLOW but what made me a little sad was seeing that creator David McLane chose not to appear despite being invited to appear in the film.

This film is actually very emotional i wasn't expecting a film about GLOW to be as emotional as it was we find out that one of the girls is living in a nursing home due to her weight crushing her knee's i think that part really got to me because it reminded me so much of the late Andre The Giant except his weight was crushing his back and the only way she can get around now is by wheelchair and ambulance.

Even tho this is called The Story Of The Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling they don't actually go into any detail about how GLOW started it skips that bit and goes right into the girls training which was something i personally didn't like just because it's always more interesting seeing how something came to be so i would have liked it if they gave some time to that.

When i said that the story was in the title of the film that was a half truth because there's also another story that happens near the end of the movie which i won't get into but i do think that this person did a great thing by getting in touch with the girls again.

The impression that i got from this film was that everyone involved truly loved each other and in some cases truly loved wrestling and i'm glad that some of them went on to bigger and better things in the world of wrestling.

Overall i'd say that if your a wrestling fan then you might wanna check this out as it is a piece of wrestling history and if your a fan of the Netflix series then you might like this as it's about the real GLOW as for me this film is a 8 out of 10

My Personal Top 5 Animated Disney Films

Hello there Disney fans Walt Disney Pictures have made some of the best animated films of all time there's no question about that but i'm sure your all wondering what my top 5 disney films are and before i tell you i want to lay down some ground rules first i'm only counting there animated movies since that's what there most famous for second it has to have gotten a cinematic release  third i'm not counting any of the Studio Ghibli film's that the company has released over here nor am i counting any of the PIXAR movies since they could get a list to them selfs and fourth it has to be feature length.

5) The Little Mermaid

i recently did a review on this movie so i won't go into to much detail here but for me the songs were good and the animation was great but the romance wasn't that great and neither was the story but it's a still a classic film none the less.

4) Zootopia / Frozen

i'm not gonna lie i couldn't pick one of these two movies to be at fourth place because of the fact they are good movies and unlike The Little Mermaid they have really solid stories that may be because of the fact that the writer of Frozen also wrote Zootopia but when you also add in the fact that i kinda liked these characters as well you'll see why this was a tough choice.

3) Beauty and the Beast (original)

i really enjoyed this film it's characters were fun and likable it's story was interesting and it had great animation the only real issue i have with the movie is the fact that Belle pretty much does nothing for most of the movie and when you think about she boils down to the typical Disney Princess.

2) Moana

i've made it no secret that i truly love this movie and what's not to love it has a great story , great characters and great songs there's nothing more i can really say about this movie that hasn't already been said.

1) The Lion King

This movie has all the things that Moana has so what makes it number one i here you ask well it has a memorable storyline, a memorable storyline and memorable songs and like Moana i can't really say anything about this movie that hasn't already been said it's a classic for a reason

Jodie Whittaker IS The New Doctor My Thoughts

Hello there Doctor Who fans and today is the day that half of the fan base has dreaded and the other half don't care about we have a female Doctor and well here are my thoughts bare in mind i'm not judging her as The Doctor rather the choice to cast her.

I personally don't mind her but i've only seen her in comedic roles so i know she can do the comedy aspect part of the show but with that being said i havn't seen her in any drama so i don't know if she can do the more serious aspects of the show which does slightly have my worried since Doctor Who is and always has been a drama.

Now i recently made a top 5 post about who i think should play the doctor (shameless plug) but i admit if i even did a top 10 she would have came in at number 11 to me she wasn't a contender so in that regards i have to applaud the team for thinking out side the box but at the same time it means now that alot of people won't know if she's a good actress or not and that could people of watching the show.

Now if they are going to change the way things are done which judging by this casting choice they are thinking of doing but i think they should change the sex of the companion this way the makers of the show can hopefully have there cake and eat it.

The next worry i have is that i don't know if the writers can write a female character i'll be the first one to admit i havn't seen Broadchurch so i don't know how well written the female characters were in that show and Torchwood was more of an ensemble so if the female's weren't written well it didn't matter but now you have a female front and center so the writing has to be top notch.

Overall i personally am very mixed over her casting but i ask all of those that are set against having a female doctor to respect those who are all for having one this fan base is built on love and if past Doctor Who stars are happy about the change which they are i've seen the tweets then you guys can at least be respect full to each other.

My Top 5 Picks To Take Over The Role Of The Doctor

Hello there Doctor Who fans and  i thought that since Peter Capaldi has announced he is leaving the role of The Doctor that i would tell you who my top 5 choices to take over the role now i know that not all of these choices will be able to get the part for what ever reason but these are my picks.

5) Hayley Atwell

Now i know not many Doctor Who fans want to see a female doctor but i think that if we have a great person playing the part then gender shouldn't matter and for me Hayley Atwell is a great actress as she has rpoven time and time again with her roles in the MCU now pretty much reduced to cameo's and her show Conviction being cancelled it means she could very well walk out of the TARDIS on Sunday.

4) Mark Gatiss

Like Hayley this choice is pretty out there but with roles on Sherlock and Game Of Thrones as well as The League Of Gentlemen he has proven to be not only a great writer but also a great actor and since he is friends with out going show runner Stephan Moffat it means he has a fair chance.

3) Jack O'Connell

To put it simply this guy is a great up and coming actor and when needed can be pretty funny and dark just look at his time of UK show Skins.

2) Domhnall Gleeson

This guy was my first pick to take over from Matt Smith and he is one of my picks to take over from Peter Capaldi the guy is a great actor and he looks alien to me at least.

1) Ben Whishaw

If you have seen Skyfall or SPECTRE which are his most famous films then you'll know why i'm putting Ben in at number one sadly tho it's his role in those films which could also prevent him from getting the part but that doesn't me from dreaming.

Lego Scooby-Doo! Blowout Beach Bash Review

Hello there animation since i've made it a habit of reviewing the latest Scooby-Doo movie i thought i'd take a look at this latest movie featuring those meddling kids Lego Scooby-Doo! Blowout Beach Bash.

The plot of this movie is some pirates are after some treasure and it's up to Scooby and the gang to find out what's going on. The story is pretty weak and is for little kids but i think that this film does have a truly a great mystery that did keep me guessing until the very end.

We of course have Frank Welker , Matthew Lillard , Kate Micucci and Grey Griffin now sadly there isn't a complete cast list available so i can't say who the guest cast is but i can say that the guest cast did a good job with there characters as for the regular cast i really enjoyed them in this film even tho they've been playing the same characters for years i still find them a joy to listen to and that's even more true for this film.

Now i'm not going to name who animated this film since it's made by both The Lego Group and Warner Bros. Animation but whoever animated this film did a great job because there's a lot of great fluid movements in the characters and the CGI on the water and fire are really good and by that i mean they are movie quality you can tell there was a lot of effort put into this movie.

This film is listen as a comedy and to be honest i barely laughed there's jokes in here that little kids might enjoy but for me most of the jokes weren't funny the only funny moments i found were the moments where they know that there LEGO characters to me those jokes were funny but not much else was funny tho but like i mentioned little kids might find the jokes funny.

For some reason i found myself really liking Velma in this movie and i don't know why she's still the same character but in this movie i was really liking her plus i never noticed this before but Velma has dimples.

The score and songs for this movie where done by Robert J. Kral who's other animated films include Superman: Doomsday and Batman: Assault On Arkham and here his score is oretty much the kind of score you'd expect from a Scooby-Doo product but the songs he wrote for this movie are for me a very mixed bag the film opens with a song which is just awful to listen to and has bad singers singing it but the second musical number isn't that bad and i think that's also done to the fact that they had Kate Micucci who's also a singer in the band Garfunkel & Oates singing.

Overall while there are things in this movie that some adult fans might enjoy this movie is made more for little kids so for me this movie is a 6 out of 10

Doctor Who Series 10 "The Doctor Falls" Spoiler Free Review

Hello there Doctor Who fans for the final time this series it's that time of the week where i look back at the most recent episode of the show so here is my review of The Doctor Falls.

The story of this episode without giving anything away is The Doctor , Missy , The Master and Nardole take on Cybermen. In terms of story that's really all i can give you without giving away a plot point but i felt the story for this weeks episode was a step up from the past few weeks and i think that's more to do with the fact that the episode is an hour long the story was just perfect this time round.

Of course we have have Peter , Pearl and Matt but joining them from last week we have Michelle Gomez and John Simm and i have to say all of the actors that i've mentioned killed it this week all of the main actors brought there A game and it really showed. In terms of guest cast the only actor who really stood out for me was Samantha Spiro she's really good in this episode and i loved her scenes with Matt.

This episode was very action packed and i have to say i loved the action scenes in this episode there's not really much i can say about them because of spoilers but when you see the episode you'll know exactly what i'm talking about and you'll hopefully all agree with me.

I have to say i loved the interaction between Missy and The Master the two actors played those scenes so well and they were so well written and much of the episodes humor comes from those two characters but with that said Matt also gets a few good one liners and a few good jokes as well.

I liked the fact that the Cybermen were actually came across as a threat this time round and they do show some military smarts altho not much i can't really mention much about the Cybermen because everything they do is a spoiler but trust me there used well in this weeks episode.

For the first time in a long time i can say that the music in this weeks episode was truly fantastic Murray Gold is a genius the music in this episode made everything so much better then it should have done and i have to thank him for it especially during the final fifteen maybe ten minuets.

Overall this is the best episode of the series for me and this series as a whole has been really strong with one or two weak episodes and keep an eye out for a cameo or two that's all i'm saying this episode is a 9 out of 10 series 10 as a whole gets a 9 out of 10 see you guys in December.
