Worzel Gummidge "Worzel In The Limelight" Review

To say that I love reviewing these old Worzel Gummidge episodes would be a huge understatement as it's something that not only love doing but it's also something that I actively look forward to doing each and everytime that I decide to do one. As there just something about this really simple show with very old fashioned tastes that makes it enjoyable and really fun to watch at times well with the same thing also being true for his episode and so then join me as I review the episode that sees Worzel and Aunt Sally form a double act with the episode in question being called simply just "Worzel In The Limelight" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when they find out that the grand prize for winning the local talent show is ten pounds Worzel and Aunt Sally decide to enter. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with this episodes plot being just as fun and as simple as you'd expect it to be not only because of the fact that it's kids shows but also because of the fact that the episodes premise is one that's simple and it's that kind of simplicity that really does work well enough in this episodes as while yes granted there does come a point in the episode where you know where the episodes plot is going it's still fun to see just how it is that the episode reaches that point with this episodes plot also being really childlike in nature which would normally be viewed as being nothing more then a bad thing but here because of the fact that both Worzel and Aunt Sally themselves are basically children it is something that not only works well enough in this episodes favour but it's also something that adds an extra layer of charm to the episode as well with this episodes plot also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge , Jeremy Austin as John Peters and Charlotte Coleman as Sue Peters. Also starring in this episode is Mike Berry as Mr. Peters , Norman Bird as Mr. Braithwaite , Myrtle Devenish as Mrs. Edgeworth , Percy Herbert as Mr. Oakshott , Megs Jenkins as Mrs. Braithwaite , Frank Marlborough as Mr. Lucas , Michael Ripper as Mr. Shepherd and Una Stubbs as Aunt Sally.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With all of this episodes actors turning in some really good performances in this very episode which is really nothing new for this show as this show even in it's worst episodes has always had some really good acting in alot of it's episodes and while the acting in this episode might not be as dramatic as in previous episodes that's because of the fact that this episodes does have more of a focus on it's comedy rather then it's drama and heck there's really only one dramatic moment at the end of the episode and even then the acting from series lead star Jon Pertwee is still just as good as it was in the more comedic parts of the episode with this episode also giving us the chance to hear him do a Swedish accent which he does pull of really well and alot of what makes the acting not only in this show but also in this episode as good as it is is the fact that series director and producer James Hill also directed several feature films and infact comes from a feature film background and he there for brought all of that over to a TV show where he expected nothing less then the best acting that he could possibly get and that is something that really does really well in this episode with the actin that's in this very episode also being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance really will come out of them naturally and that is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

As Aunt Sally is a main character in this episode the episode does end rather predictably with Worzel trying to get her to marry him only for Aunt Sally to hurt Worzel emotionally and make him cry. Which was just something that really didn't work in this episode as it was something that did come of nowhere and ind of felt forced as there was no lead up to it and it there for didn't have the emotional impact and those kinds of scenes do typically have in this show as something like that is usually something that they build up all throughout the episode with it then effecting how Worzel interacts with others during the events of the episode where as here it's only mentioned once at the start of the episode and it doesn't really effect how Worzel interacts with the other characters in this episode as he just interacts with them how he usually would with the episode then bringing it back into play to close out the episode which is a solid way to end the episode as it does remind you of just how horrible of a person that Aunt Sally really is but at the same time tho there should have been more of en effort to make that part of the story be an actual part of the story and not just something that's mentioned twice and that's it as all that does is cheapen the effect that a scene like that can and does have this is despite the fact that the scene in question is wonderfully acted and directed but if it was something that actively drove Worzel in this episode and we actually got to seem him try harder then usual to win the talent show and even have a scene with The Crowman even warning Worzel that Aunt Sally could hurt him again only for him to ignore him it would then make the scene at the end where Aunt Sally takes the winnings that she had promised to keep safe in her tea pot only for her to then go and spend the lot on a dress for herself all the more upsetting and heartbreaking.

This episode is not only acted like it's a part of a feature film but it's also shot like one as well as alot of this episode from a visual standpoint. Not only looks very visually stunning but also looks like that could be in a feature film in it's own right with this coming from the fact that the whole crew of this show really did treat each and every single episode of this show like they were working on a feature film and because of that we got alot of really visually stunning shots that you just wouldn't do in kids TV shows then and most certainly wouldn't do now in kids TV show or TV shows in general for that matter as kids TV show was always seen as being lesser then alot of TV shows and yet it's shows like this and this episode in particualr that really do prove that if you have a cast and crew that are deeply passionate about something and that won't to make it the best that they can do with the very limited budget that had on this show then they will make something that's feature film worthy and make you pay attention to it because of it and it's that kind of thinking that really does need to be brought back as alot of kids TV shows today look like exactly that a TV show and yet if they had cast and crew that actually wanted to make it better and make there product look better then alot of kids TV shows today regardless of it there live action or animated will look a lot better then what they already do and the people who love those show will love them even more because of it.

Like Are You Being Served? would do after it this episode also does take advantage of the fact that Mike Berry was a singer. By having his talent actually be singing which was a nice way to make a nod to that with the episode even showing alot of his performance which does have it's downside to it as well the first of which being nobody watching this episode wants to what his characters talent is that's not a knock against the actor by any means it's just that the shows young target audience are more interested in seeing Worzel and Aunt Sally and his song performance does take away more screen time for them and the second problem with this is is the fact that the song he's given to sing isn't that good in the first place as it's just a song about a cowboy and his horse and that's really it which is great as there learning into the country western theme a bit but if your going to do that then go all out and have the cowboy doing something or have his horse doing something interesting or you could make it a love song where the cowboy falls in love with someone in the town that he's in just anything would have worked and yet because of the fact that whoever it was that wrote that song chose not to that we are left with a song that despite it being very well sung just doesn't hit as well as it really could have done but it is a solid song for this episode to have in it tho it's just one that really could have been alot better given that Mike Berry was a singer and heck they even could have shown him messing up the song just to keep in it character for Mr. Peters.

What was kind of surprising to see in this episode is that for a small portion of the episode not only do Worzel Gummidge and Aunt Sally actually get along but they also make for a really good double act. As there act very easily could have been two people trying to put on an act but failing miserably and that's where the comedy would come from from it and yet because of the fact that Aunt Sally really can't stand working with Worzel they both end choosing different acts with her act being a badly done ballet act and his act being a half decent magician's act which is something that doesn't really fit in with his character as if anything Worzel would do more of a kids comedy act which is something that he does kind of try out near the midway point of the episode when he puts on his Swedish circus clown head that he swapped with someone from Sweden and even tho he does alot of the bits that you'd expect a clown to do he messes them all up all of which only serve to make Aunt Sally mad at him and poke him with holes with the farmers pitchfork something which he does later use as part of his magician's act but Aunt Sally doing a ballet act is something that is in her character as it;s something that she's openly expressed about either liking or doing herself and as such it does make sense that she would think that she's really good at it only for it to turn out that she's actually really bad at it with her act only being saved due to Worzel coming on stage ad messing it up for her.

Now then this episode has / and an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty six minuets and five seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstandard running tie for this show and to this episodes credit that's all the running time that it really does need to tell it's story as this episode really does have just the right amount of plot to really cover that amount of running time with the episode even making the best use of it's running time for the most part as while the big emotional moment near the end of the episode isn't set up all that well all of the characters are really developed and there personalities pretty much set in stone thanks to the previous episodes and as a result of that is the fact that this episode really doesn't have to do any of that altho what made have made this episode better was if we the audience got to see more of the talent show as then we could have seen other characters from the series like the Crowman or even Mrs Bloomsbury-Barton both of which could have had some acts of there own which would have felt totally in character for either character and it's also something that really would have made this episode alot more fun to watch as well as we'd get to see a side from the shows actors that we don't usually get to see on this show either but those scenes are also scenes that would have added nothing to the overall plot of the episode and would have slowed the episode down quite despite them being something that really could have been alot of fun but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have ti actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually feature / presented to us inn this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With this episode having alot of painfully funny moments in it alot of which do some from Worzel and Aunt Sally trying to put an act together for the local talent show and all of the jokes work in this episode as all of them feel like jokes that the characters would make even Worzel messing up his clown act does work as he doesn't know before hand that the water in the bucket is meant to be replaced with confetti and so when he sees a bucket of water he does the whole act including throwing it all other Aunt Sally which is a cute moment as is the fact that they both enjoy a good laugh when Worzel starts leaking something which he does use to end his magicians act with even the failed ventriloquist act that they try to do does somehow still work as of course Worzel wouldn't know that your not supposed to move your lips with this episode really going to show you that you can knock it out of the park comedy wise in a kids comedy TV show if you create jokes that are actually not only really well done but also come across as being character driven jokes as well which is something that really does work well enough in this episodes favour in my freaking opinions anyways / at least

Overall this was a really good episode as this is an episode that proves even an episode with the most simplest of plotlines can work just as well as the more emotional and emotionally driven plotlines of the show as well with this episode being just a fun filled episode of the show to watch in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

The Lion King At The Hollywood Bowl Special Review

Out of all of Disney's animated movies it's safe to say that The Lion King is one of the most important animated films that they've done. As it's the film that well and truly proved in the nineties that Disney was back and that they knew how to produce great movies that could and have made both adults and kids not only laugh with joy but cry with sadness and with the film now officially thirty years old Disney have decided to release a film that they made last year in it's thirtieth anniversary and so then join me as I review the special that despite being filmed during the films thirtieth was released on the eve of the film thirty first anniversary with the special in question being called simply just "The Lion King At The Hollywood Bowl" enjoy.

With this film basically just being a concert of the songs from the original film it really doesn't have a plot to speak of whatsoever. This is something that does work well enough to the specials advantage as the songs are just that well known that everybody including people who haven't seen the original film will know those songs however with that being said tho this special does jump around in the timeline of the film something which actually wasn't done when this special was being recorded almost a full year ago which makes it dd that they'd edit it that way now as all that does is make things confusing as to what song is coming up next say what you will about The Little Mermaid Live and Beauty And The Beast A Thirtieth Anniversary Celebration but at the vest least those specials presented the songs in chronological order where as here they do jump around quite a bit and while this doesn't effect the film as the main reason that the people are going to this concert and are going to be watching this special is the fact that it's the songs being sung live mostly by the original films actors but at the same time tho it would have been nice if they did present the special as it was filmed altho given what's happened with one of the special actors that might not have been such a good idea either but that also would have had it's huge upsides which would more then outweigh it's downsides and would have gone along way into making this special all the more better then what it actually was.

Also starring in this special is Ernie Sabella as Himself , Jennifer Hudson as Herself , Billy Eichner as Himself , Jason Weaver as Himself , Bradley Gibson as Himself , North West as Herself , Lebo M. as Himself , this films conductor Sarah Hicks as Herself , Tehillah Alphonso as Herself and Monique Watson as A Dancer.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual actors that are actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual actors that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the special having a good mixture of the casts from the original film , the broadway stage show and the 2019 remake and Mufasa: The Lion King but with that being said tho there are some heavy hitters from the original film that are noticeably absent in this special with the likes of Rowan Atkinson , Matthew Broderick and of course James Earl Jones who was still alive when this special was being made not even appearing in the special and that is something that the makers of this special really should have tried to do as he is the heart and soul of the original film so much so that they had no other choice but to bring him back to play the same character in the 2019 remake and yet here he only gets mentioned the once by Jeremy Irons and that's it and both Rowan and Matthew don't get that despite the fact that Matthew voiced Simba in all three animated movies and Rowan Atkinson was just a joy to watch as Zazu in the original film and very easily could have played the character again in either of the sequels or the 2019 remake and while yes there some heavy hitters from both the broadway show and the 2019 remake also missing as well this special is meant to be for the original film and there for as great as it was to see actors from those other productions it would have been better to see more of the actors from the original film as that's what those people who were watching the special live and have watched it since on Disney+ want to see.

Even tho this special was meant to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the original film and was even film in it's anniversary year. Disney for some rather odd reason have chosen instead to release it during it's thirty first year which makes the whole point of this special feel pointless as they mention quite alot that's been thirty years since the original film first came out and yet all you have to is see when this special is being released to know that there releasing this special one year to late Power Rangers Super Megaforce kind of did the exact same thing as that whole season of Power Rangers was to celebrate thirty years of the show and yet the big anniversary even crossover episode that they spent a good few years building up was released a about a year or two after the actual anniversary despite it being filmed close to the anniversary year with Disney instead choosing to release Mufasa: The Lion King in the anniversary year and not this special when they very easily could have pushed back that film and have it released this year and had the actual anniversary special actually be released in the thirtieth year of the original Lion King as that would have made alot more sense but for one reason or another Disney instead chose to go with the option that made the least amount of sense possible as nobody cares about Mufasa: The Lion King but what they do care is The Lion King and yet for some reason Disney instead chose to release that film last year and not this special heck they even could have released both within the same weekend if they really wanted to do so that families at home could make a huge weekend out of it by watching the newest lion king movie on the big screen and then loading up Disney+ to then go and watch this special.

What was a rather smart movie was the fact that during the recording of this special they did what they did with The Little Mermaid Live. Which was where they showed the whole entire film from start to finish only this time they had the orchestra playing the music and they would then stop the film whenever a song would come on and bring on whoever is going to be singing that particular song this is something that is quite frankly cut out of the finished product and for good reason as all it would do is distract the audience watching this special on Disney+ and remind them that instead of watching this above average concert special that could instead be watching the original film and that's really it and while the puppets wouldn't have been as bad as the Flounder puppet was in The Little Mermaid Live it still would have meant hearing more terrible singing from a certain someone who will be discussed later on in the review and that is something no one really should gave to endure but at the same time tho there was alot more effort put into not only The Little Mermaid Live but also Encanto live as well as they at least tried to replicate the feeling of the original films in there stage design something that is very sorely missing from this production where they try to make it feel like a mixture of both the stage show and the original film instead of just going with something that combines the best elements from both of those two productions and creating something that is truly special and really worth seeing in this special.

Of course the biggest news that came out of the making of this special actually had nothing to do with any production of The Lion King. Rather it was fact that North West butchered "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" which after not only seeing a video that someone recorded of her performance and the final product in this special I can confirm that she did ruin the song however that is just the tip of the iceberg for her attitude problems as she never turned up on time for rehearsal but also refused to wear the broadway costume for young Simba and instead went out and got a homemade costume which is way the Simba outfit that she wears in this special looks so bad given just who her mum and dad are it's not surprising that she has a huge ego with it not being helped that there are articles that said that she got a standing ovation and yet if to watch videos of her performance from the making of the special it's clear that that wasn't the case even her father who tried to get one going failed to do which makes it even more odd that the makers of special edit it in such a way to make it look like that she got some applause when the fact is that people where actually leaving during her performance something that both her mum and dad also did after her performance and given just how she acted in the build up to this performance it's clear as day  that kid has a huge attitude problem that her parents should have actually dealt with and the fact that the producers of this special literally had another actors for young Simba before they cast her just really just doesn't work out but given that the same production company Fulwell 73 also producers her families reality TV show The Kardashians also produced this special as well.

This special did a really good of celebrating the original film by having filmed interviews with alot of the people who not only worked on the original film but also helped to make it as well. Which is something does make this special feel oddly right but at the same time tho they don't mention how Disney put alot of there B team animators on this movie because of the fact that they had little to no faith in it but given that this film is releasing on Disney+ that's to be expected and seeing how alot of the show came together through rehearsals which was fun to see even getting to see both Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella meet each other again was a truly heartwarming moment as you get the sense that these two actors really are the best of the friends off camera as well as on camera and seeing them meet Jason Weaver for quite literally the first time was truly special as even tho all three of them sang "Hakuna Matata" both Ernie and Nathan never met Jason as they recorded there parts of the song separately from him and even just seeing Jeremy Irons finally finish "Be Prepared" all these years later is truly special with this special being worth watching just for those moments alone as it's something that really does feel special and feel like a celebration of The Lion King with those filmed interview segments really being helped by the fact that we get to see some behind the scenes footage of the actors recording either lines of dialog for the film or some of the films songs which s more then enough to make people who really love this film feel like a kid again.

Now then this special has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and eight minuets and twenty eight seconds. Which us a solid running time for this film as this film is just hitting all of the high notes from the original film , the 2019 remake and the broadway stage show and really nothing more then that but at the same time it would have been nice if this film was a little bit longer just so then we the audience could have the chance to soak in everything that we're watching and while not including the bits where they were showing the full length film was a good idea it still would have been nice if the film did show us some scenes from the film just so that we could get context not only for the songs but also so that we could enjoy bits of the animation from the original film as well and as well so that we could get a good idea of just how much hard work the animators put into the original film and heck maybe you could have included interviews with Rowan Atkinson , Matthew Broderick and of course James Earl Jones as they to were a big part of the original films cast and if your going to include people from the remake then why not include an interview with Beyoncé as not only was she in the remake but her kid was in Mufasa: The Lion King and it would have been interesting to hear some of her thoughts on the original film as well and plus just having this film come in at just over one hour feels odd given just how good and popular that the original film not only was but still is as well but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a concert special that really does mean that I gave to actually talk about the actual songs that are actually featured / presented to us in this very special well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual songs that are actually featured / presented to us in this very special was in all honesty. With this special mixing in songs from the original film , the remake , the broadway show and Mufasa: The Lion King with alot of this specials songs being sung really well and while the highlight of this special is quite easily the songs another highlight is the banter between Ernie and Nathan Lane which was just funny with it being helped that both Nathan Lane , Ernie Sabella and Jason Weaver still really can sing "Hakuna Matata" just as good as they did back in 1993 when the film was first being made and while the films worst singer is quite easily North West that's not her fault as she is afterall just a kid and it wouldn't be fair to compare her singing to that of someone who two or perhaps even three times her age however the best singer which is something that alot of people can very easily agree on is by far Jennifer Hudson as she gets to sing not only "Circle Of Life" but also the Elton John version of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" both of which she sings beautifully and while yes Lebo M. is also a really good singer and sings alot of his songs in this special really well as well nothing is going to top hearing Jennifer Hudson singing "Circle Of Life" as she just does such a good version of that song in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while Encanto Live might be the better of the two Hollywood Bowl specials that Disney have done thus far this is the one that alot of Disney fans from the nineties are going to be more excited about seeing and will hopefully keep on coming back to as The Lion King is just that good film and this special whilst it doesn't quite do it justice is at least a good way to celebrate this truly classic Disney animated film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are un this very special in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very special really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Doctor Who: Space Babies Review

To say that Doctor Who has had some really weird episodes over it's tenure on the airs would be a huge understatement. The thing is tho is that those more weirder episodes barring one or two episodes are usually saved for the shows Christmas specials where as the same thing cannot be said for this episode as this episode despite having a plot that would be right at home with a Christmas special was instead the first episode of the new series and so then join me as I review the episode that really should have been a Christmas special episode with the episode in question being called simply just "Space Babies" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is The Doctor and Ruby find themselves stuck on a spaceship that's piloted entirely by babies and have to help the babies to defeat a monster that's attacking their ship. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty rather on the weak side of things as it was pretty hard to tell what the plot of the episode even was for alot of the episodes running time and while that is something that you kind of expect for a Christmas special episode of the show for the first shows first episode of the new series you want to have an episode that has a much more stronger plot line and not one that could be seen as being a throwaway episode which is very sadly the case here and while the episode is a out there and strange as you'd expect given it's title and premise the plot isn't something that does work for an episode of the episode of the main series as while it's a good and fun filled plot in it's own right it's also a plot that feels alot more at home as the plot of a Christmas special as this plot is alot more goofy and lighthearted which are things that work better in a Christmas special and not necessarily as a plot for an episode of the main series with the plot of this episode also being really entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor , Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday and Golda Rosheuvel as Jocelyn Sancerre. Also starring in this episode is Michelle Greenidge as Carla Sunday , Angela Wynter as Cherry Sunday , Mason McCumskey as Eric , Sami Amber as The Voice Of Eric , Sienna-Robyn Mavanga-Phipps as Poppy , Shola Olaitan-Ajiboye as The Voice Of Poppy , Cadence Williams as The Voice Of Sandra , Param Patel as The Voice Of Marcel , Lonnee Archibong as The Voice Of Adjani , Jesus Reyes Ortiz as Rico Trieste , Yasmine Bouabid as Lucia Colasanto , Robert Strange as The Bogeyman and Susan Twist as Comms Officer Gina Scalzi.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With both Ncuti and Millie turning some really good performances which is not only due to the fact that they both some really good actors in there own right but it;s also due to the fact that this episode was apart pf the series third block of filming which means that it was around the half point of filming the series overall and as a result of that it does mean that there performances are going to be better as they would have had some time to really work on there character with the voice acting from the kids also being really good as well with all of them sounding really natural in their roles and being really well cast as well with even the episodes guest adult characters even turning in some pretty decent performances and while some performances really could have been alot more better in parts like Golda Rosheuvel does have a few scenes that aren't acted that well the acting on the whole in this episode is really good with this episode not really being helped by this episodes script as this episodes script really doesn't give this episodes actors a whole lot to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters are even meant to be in the first place which s something that does really effect the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the CGI for this episode is Goodbye Kansas and the legends and the greats that are currently over at Real SFX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with the babies mouths being the best CGI effect in this episode as there done really well which is due to the fact that those mouths are actually the mouths of the voice actors saying the lines with them being added onto a 3D model of the actual babies heads and it's an effect that does work as pulling of CGI mouth on it's own is very hard to do as there alot of muscles that move when you open and close your mouth and so it is something that can be very distracting if it's done wrong but here while it is obvious that it's a CGI mouth it's an effect that does work really well with the only really bad looking effect in this episode being the outside of the ship which just looks a little bit to fake as this is a ship that should have some dirt and grime on it's outside as this is a ship that's been abandoned so it wouldn't have anybody there to clean the outside of it and yet it looks really clean on the outside which is something that does make the ship just look a little to fake looking and is something that could have done with being rendered a few more times just to make it look alot more better then what it actually already does.

One of this episodes biggest strengths is also it's greatest flaw as it is a very campy episode that is also very light in tone. Which is something that again works well for a Christmas episode and even some episodes of the main series as well but for the first episode of a new series where you still have a new Doctor and Companion neither of which have had alot of time to really get across just who there characters are that much having a more lighter episode this early on really doesn't make sense if anything this is an episode that if it was to be apart of the main series should have been at the very least placed inbetween 73 Yards and Boom as then you wouldn't have two Doctor-Lite episodes airing back to back and you can sort break up those episodes by having a more lighter episode airing inbetween each other with The Devils Chord being the perfect candidate for being the actual series fourteen opener as that episode not only has the much more stronger plot line but also has the tone that is more in line with the rest of the show as a whole where as here because of the fact that there more focused on having The Doctor and Ruby pretty much confirm that Star Trek may or may not exist in the same time line as Doctor Who then they are in trying to tell a really good story which is something that really should have been the main vocal point of this episode and not having the characters crack jokes every few minuets and even have a shot in this episode that is strikingly familiar to a now really infamous shot from Zoey 101.

To be fair to this episode having the upper floors of the babies ship being just like a nursery even with "nanny" was a really good. With the episode making as best use as it really could have done with those upper floors the issue is tho is that the episode really doesn't explore much of the ship with the characters only going to a few locations which oddly enough make the ship feel alot more smaller then what it actually is and it would have been fun to see how the babies had transformed most of the ship much like the bridge so that they could use it as seeing what they had done to the bridge of the ship was a really fun and creative idea as they just used what babies would actually use that being there toys and that's really it and yet we don't get to see more of that creativeness in the rest of the ship with the very extra locations that we do actually see in this episode feeling like that they could have come from any other science fiction based show as they all just look so generic like how great would it have been to see Jocelyn's room actually was a mess which is something that would have made sense as realistically she wouldn't have had the time to look after the ship and the babies and still keep her room tidy and how much fun would it have been to see what the babies have done to other parts of the ship so that they can not only get around the ship alot more easier but also operate the ship as well while these are yes very small things they also make the ship feel alot more bigger then what is it the final cut of the episode.

Again to give this episode some form of credit it's main villain The Bogeyman is a really creepy looking villain. While the episode does make some really good use out of the character the episode also really doesn't give him any scares in the episode which is something that the makers of this episode really could ave done not only given how the creature looks but also the fact that there own space ship miles away from the nearest planet and yet all they do is have him stick to the lower levels of the ship and that's really it but it was cool about the character is the fact that the ship that the babies are on created him for them as the ship wanted them to live out there own story with the character literally being made out of the babies snot which was a fun idea and to the episodes credit it does explain it in away that makes sense by actually showing us what happens to one of the babies tissues when it's been used which is a really good way of showing us the audience just how this creature was made without bogging the episode down with alot of exposition but at the same time tho it would have been nice if the The Bogeyman was being presented as an actual threat to the characters instead of being something that gets redeemed at the end as just having it lurk around the lowers decks doesn't really make him that threatening of a villain and wile yes he was solely created to scare the babies the second that more adults where onboard he should have been modified to scare them as well as that is something that would have allowed him to seem more like an actual threat to the characters.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this episodes running time even was I do that for a fact that this episode has / had an exact grand total running of exactly forty six minuets and twenty for seconds. Which is a really solid running time for this episode to have as while this episode is very light on plot and really doesn't require that long of a running time in order to tell it's story if this episode was shorter it would oddly be doing a disservice to the episode as one of this episodes biggest strengths is it's characters and having a lesser running time would mean that those character would either get smaller screen time or be cut out of the final cut of the episode but this is where it gets tricky as making this episode longer would also be doing a disservice to the episode due to the fact that the episode doesn't have alot of plot to really cover it's running time as it is and with a longer running time it would mean that what is already a really thinly drawn out plot would be getting stretched out even thinner and the episode would suffer even more because of it with the only thing that could save this episode and allow it to be the best that it could be was to a page one rewrite and start the whole thing over again as then the episode can have a much more stronger plot and the episode can also have more then enough plot to really cover it's running time as well and as well as fix several issues that are in the episode as well but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally tought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us n this very episode was in all honesty really good. As while this episode doesn't have any fight scenes what it does have is some really tense chase scenes and it's those scenes that not only show of the really creepy looking design for The Bogeyman but it's also something that shows of the fact that this incarnation of The Doctor is one that isn't really the action man type of Doctor that we've gotten in the past rather he's the kind that loves everything and will do anything to make sure that the people around him stay happy as this is something that we see all throughout this episodes chase scenes with The Doctor always cracking really bad jokes just to break the tension which is something that does undercut the tension of the scene as well but it's also something is in keeping with this version of the character and while the chase scenes could have been as all they are are the characters running down what looks to be the same corridor just reused over and over again there's also no build up and n feeling of escalation either with the pace of those scenes staying the exact same when things should be getting more and more tense but to be fair when the chase scenes in this episode are good they can be some really good scenes in this episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall where Wikipedia got the idea that this episode received alot of praise from is beyond me as not only is that mostly a lie it's also something that makes this episode out to be a perfect episode and that's just simply not the case as while this episode would have made for a really good Christmas Special it doesn't make for a good episode of the main series in anyway shape or form whatsoever in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good ans as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out 10 from me.

Beavis And Butt-Head: Bungholio: The Lord Of Harvest

When people nowadays think of the words adult cartoons they usually think of shows like South Park and Rick And Morty shows that are quite smart and clever. However back in the nineties when people thought of those exact same words they usually thought of something like Beavis And Butt-Head a show that is the complete opposite of smart and clever and that is something that did work for this show so much so that the show has spawned countless seasons of the show and two full length movies and so then join me as I review that actually has a shocking ending to it with the episode in question being called simply just "Bungholio: The Lord Of Harvest" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when Beavis and Butt-Head decide to go out trick or treating they find it's hard to get sweets due to there age. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good as it's just a simple plot and to be frank that's all it needed to be as a show like this one really doesn't require deep and dark plots to make it's episodes work it just needs a dumb , stupid and simple plot and that's really it and while this episodes plot is dumb it's dumb in the best way possible as you can believe that these characters who lets be honest here aren't the sharpest of tools in the shed would believe that they could get sweets from there neighbors just by going door to door and when they do finally find an adult who will give them exactly what they want they of course have to go and mess it all up which again is in keeping with there character and while fair enough this episode could have done with having a much more stronger plot like what the first movie had that doesn't mean that it would have worked for the show and it's not something that could have worked for this episode either with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and a well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought /felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Which really isn't saying all that much as the only voice actor who alot of people will know worked after this show is Mike Judge and he really does kill it in this episode with him voicing multiple different characters more often then not in the same scene together and yet he somehow manages to make the all sound very different and very distinct from one another and while all of the episodes other actors do indeed turn in good performance in there own right there of course not going to top what Mike Judge was doing on this show from an acting point of view as he's just that good of an actor in this very episode and while that's not a knock against them as actors as there really good as well but it's just that he's the better actor in this very episode with the acting that's in this very episode also really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all the episodes actors really have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance really will come out them naturally which is something that really does hep to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at J.J. Sedelmaier Productions. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in al honesty not that bad altho with that being said due to the episodes mostly nighttime setting it was hard to get a good handle of just how good this shows animation could be as this was an episode that was made in the nineties and typically those don't usually age all that well and while yes there a few notable exceptions to that rule it would help if there where at least one or two day time scenes as that would help on seeing just how detailed this shows animation really could be with the animation in this episode having some really nice lighting to it which does make the episode seem a bit more cinematic then the average episode of the show most likely does do and with this episode being an extended episode it does give us a good look at the shows more realistic designs for the characters which to be frank do look timeless with this episode also having some really nice looking fluid animation to it as well which does make this episodes animation look a lot better then what it really had right to be.

In what was a really shocking move this episode just straight up ends with it being hinted that Beavis was killed of by a Zombiefied Butt-Head and The Chainsaw-wielding Farmer. Which granted is a bold way to end a horror themed episode but for a show that usually has the characters walk out of any given situation unscathed the very fact that they hinted at killing one or even both of the main characters could be a sign that this episode was how the show ended with the rest of the show including both of the movies taking place in Beavis's own might which would make sense as they never grow up both literally and figuratively and they always act the same way but on the other hand this episode could be seen as being a non canon episode with the ending just being thrown in there as a nod to slasher movies where alot of the times the characters do die but either way it's weird to think that an adult cartoon from the nineties actually had the courage to not only hint at both of the main characters dying at the hands of this farmer but also show blood right at the end of it something that alot of cartoons both aimed at adults and not don't do today for one reason or another and yet here it is in this very episode ad with the episodes shocking ending it could make this episode out to be one that people put on every single Halloween like they do for alot of Christmas specials as this is an episode could be shown at Halloween time as there's nothing offensive about this ending nor this episode with the ending of the episode making worth watching the hole entire episode for.

This episode does see Beavis turn into Cornholio which is always going to be good time as it's just super fun seeing this character get hyper on literally anything. With it happening due to the fact that he eats an entire bowl full of sweets which is something that is perfect or that character as Beavis much like Butt-Head is dumb as a rock and so when given the chance he would eat someone's entire sweet collection all to himself regardless of if he knows that his best friend also wants to eat it and because of that the entire third act of the episode becomes alot more fun to watch then what it already was as we get there entire town be terrorized by this one character as not one of them knows exactly what he wants and so they just offer him more sweets which is something that he very gladly takes and even tho Butt-Head doesn't really get all that much to do in this episode the very fact that he just lets it all happen all for his own personal enjoyment is something that does also feel true to his character as well as they both fully enjoy seeing the other get fully humiliated and this is something that would either one would believe would make the other feel humiliated because of it and it's due to how dumb and how simple minded that these two characters that we end up getting a really fun filled episode out of it that despite not really featuring alot of horror or even Halloween related stuff does work as a Halloween special for this show to have.

While this episode does feature the titular characters Trick Or Treating that's really the only thing that connects it to Halloween. Which is solid enough for this show as this show is about two dumb characters just doing stupid thins together it is something that I can very easily see making alot of halloween purists angry as it's just touching on the spirit of halloween without really going into why it's a holiday but at the same time given that this is a show about two stupid characters it really doesn't have to do any of that of that and it could be argued that y leaving all of that stuff of the episode that the show is then staying true to the spirit of the characters since if the episode was to go into detail about what it is that makes Halloween well Halloween as it would mean having to cut out all of the stuff of the boys commenting on various music videos in way that feels like that it was inspired by Mystery Science Theater 3000 and that is something that would make the people who love this show angry and plus by only including the trick or treating scenes it means that we get some throwbacks to things that where extremely popular in the nineties in the form of kids halloween costumes like the fact that there's two Mighty Morphin Power Rangers costumes which as someone who grew p watching and still does watch that show was a very fun thing to see in the episode and even seeing the boys own costumes is something that works not only for them as characters but for the show as well as there both just simple and just as funny as you'd really want them to be.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running tome of exactly twenty one minuets and thirty two seconds. Which whilst it isn't the bogstandard running time for this show as this show usually had to eleven minuet segments to make up the full twenty two minuets of an episode here it's just one story being told over the cause of the episode and to the episodes credit it really does have the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time tho this episode really doesn't take as full advantage of it's extended running time as while it doesn't need to flesh out it characters or it's setting as we have the rest of the show for that what this episode could have done is used those extra eleven minuets to create a plot that makes it feel worthy of being in it's own special since as things stand apart from the truly shocking ending there's nothing regarding this episodes plot that couldn't be seen in a standard episode of the show itself and because of that this special episode which is also the series 6 premiere episode doesn't really feel like that it's all that special as it just feels like an extra episode of the show which granted might be the whole point but if your going to create an special episode of a TV show then give the episode a reason to be special and not just another episode of the show but when the episode really does do something that an average episode of the show might not do like it's shocking ending then it is something that does make the episode feel a bit more like a special because of it but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured /presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With both of the episodes titular main characters being just as funny as you'd want them to be and them being stupid is what helps to male the episode even funnier as even tho seeing someone eat and entire bowl full of sweets to themselves in basically one going isn't funny what is funny is then seeing that exact same person then go around and basically terrorize his town as this hyper person who nobody can really understand and while yes granted alot of people won't get this episodes jokes for one reason or another but those that do will find it to be a really funny episode and with these two characters being as dumb as a rock the only kinds of jokes that your going to get in anything involving these two characters are dumb jokes and to this episodes credit those types of jokes can be funny if there done well which they are here as the characters are just likable enough to pull them off as those of jokes could come across as being really mean spirited if the characters weren't likable enough but because of the fact that we audience find the characters of Beavis And Butt-Head to be likable then we are laughing with them and not at them in all of this episodes jokes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst this episode might not be the best example of the characters and the show at there best it is something that newcomers to the show and people who didn't grow up watching the show myself included will like and will find some basic level of entertainment from as this episode is just that good of an episode of this show and is one that is a really funny episode of the show as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all o the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

House Of The Dragon "The Red Dragon And The Gold" Review

It's been a good while since anything from either House Of The Dragon or Game Of Thrones was last covered on this blog and well then as I got the season 2 box set of House Of The Dragon for Christmas. It only seemed right that I review and episode from that particular season and so then join me as I review the episode that sees a one character leave the show and one SUPER of an actress return in a cameo role with the episode in question being called simply just "The Red Dragon And The Gold" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when Rhaenyra suddenly leaves without warning it's up to Rhaenys to make sure that all out war doesn't break out. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us inn this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as this episodes plot did a good job of building up the tension from the sides of both Queen Rhaenyra and Queen Alicent whilst also showing that both sides have people in there courts that are willing to do anything for there own ends and while this episodes plot might not be up there interms of quality if you were to also include episodes of Game Of Thrones if you were to just include this season of the show where the plots were very mixed at best then this episode at the very least from a plot point of view is a really good and solid story and one that fans of both shows should get some level of enjoyment out of as it has all of the thins that a good plot from both shows really should gave with some decent writing to back all of that up as well as this episode is a really well written episode and is good example of this show at it's best with the plot of this every episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Which at this stage really shouldn't be all that surprising as not only did this episode get alot of praise for it's acting more specifically for Eve Best , Matt Smith and Tom Glynn-Carney but the actin on this show as whole is really good with all of this shows episodes this one included having some really good acting in them and all of that is due to two things the first one being the fact that all of this episodes actors are really good actors in there own right and the second of which being that alot of the scripts including for the bad episodes are all really well written and as such it's not really all that surprising that this show and this episode has some really good acting in it as it does have so much going for it as well as having some of the best actors working on it today with the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that al this episodes actors really have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a  good performance really will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the CGI for this episode is PixStone Images , Pixomondo , Incessant Rain Studios , MPC Episodic , Outpost VFX , RVX , Red Visual Effects , Rodeo FX , The Third Floor London and Viridian FX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then  in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good and was more then up there with the quality or the CGI from not only this shows other episodes but also episodes from Game Of Thrones as well and while yes there are some dodgy looking dragon effects in this episode the overall quality of this episodes CGI effects were really good with there being alot more good looking effects then there were bad ones and part of what makes this episodes CGI so good is the fact that it actually looked like the dragons where there on set as the effects teams add in these small little details both in and around the CGI characters that make them feel more real and that is something that alot of movies let alone TV shows don't really do and because of that there effects look like that they weren't there on the day of filming and when you add in the fact that they use practical elements as well it really does help to sell you on the fact that your watching a computer generated dragon flying around on screen in this episode.

This is also the episode that has one of the shows dream sequences as while yes Dany had one in season two of Game Of Thrones House Of The Dragon really didn't have any up until this episode. With this episode making a great use of the concept as it shows just how mad that Prince Daemon Targaryen is very slowly going as he's used to going out and fighting battles every couple of weeks and yet now here's forced to sit still and basically do nothing and seeing him try to do that whilst also trying to win supporters for his wife does make for some interesting scenes as we the audience know that at some point he will snap and just seeing how he could possibly get to that point whilst being taunted by a young Rhaenyra Targaryen does make his scenes interesting to see even more so when you take into account that we see him talking to alot of people there at Harranhal as well and through that we get to see how they are feeling about this war for the throne something that Game Of Thrones never really took the time to do which wasn't really there fault as they were adapting full fledged novel and this show isn't doing that it dos make you wonder what innocent people thought about certain events that were happening in Game Of Thrones and yet even so those scenes with Daemon whilst they are some of the most interesting scenes in the episode they don't really detract from the rest of the episode either rather they add to the plot of the episode and to the plot of this particular season as well all of which make these scenes more interesting to watch.

One of the least interesting aspects in this episode was the arguments between Prince Aegon and Prince Aemond. As despite both Tom Glynn-Carney and Ewan Mitchell putting in some really good performances n those scenes together the characters as a whole just aren't that interesting and the scenes just aren't that good to watch as they feel more like an after thought in what is already a really overstuffed episode which means that when the episode does keep on cutting back to them it is hard to remember what there plot is and what it is that there trying to do as it does come across as the makers of this show only giving them something to do not because it's important to the actual plot of the episode but because they felt like that they had to do and while on paper there scenes could have worked they wold have worked better if they where in a less crowded episode as then they could be given the time that they really did need to breathe and become more memorable because of it where as there's so much already going on in this episode it does have the added impact of making there scenes feel like a chore to sit through even tho they are all really written and well acted but with an episode that has as much going on in it as this episode does then then this episode either should have been alot longer as there scenes in this episode do tie into the cliffhanger ending of this episode or the episode as a whole should have been rewritten not only to make the episode feel less overstuffed but to also remove those scenes as well.

While Game Of Thrones also brought us some very tragic deaths that is something that did also continue onwards with not only this show but this episode as well. As this is the episode that sees the death of Rhaenys Targaryen with her death being one that was quite shocking as it quite literally came out of nowhere which is good as it made it all the more impactful and when you add in the fact that that whole battle scene was really well written and her death scene was really acted with her being stuck to her dragon as it had it's neck crushed it makes her death all of the more impactful as Rhaenys knows that there's nothing that she could do and you see it in her eyes that she's fully accepted the fact that she's going to die which is just one small example of how good of a character that sh really was as while Rhaenyra Targaryen would act impulsively more often then not making a very rash decision Rhaenys of the other hand would think things through and talk things through with people before reaching what she might consider to be the best choice to make for all involved and while that might not have made a good Queen it is something that could have made her a good leader as a leader should take the thoughts and opinions of everyone involved instead of acting rashly as that only results in the kind of chaos that we saw in this episode and because of that way of thinking it means that Rhaenys ended up getting killed of when she might have otherwise survived the war and lived a long and hopefully happy life.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly fifty five minuets and twenty eight seconds. Which was a really solid running time for this episode to have as when you boil this episode down to it's bare essentials then this episode really does have the absolutely right mount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time tho this episode does also have a really short running time as well as there is so much going on in this episode plot wise that doesn't get alot of screen time and therefor would have worked better if the episode did have either a longer running time or was placed within another episode as either way it would mean that all of the plots that this episode has to juggle would have been given alot more time to breath Game Of Thrones for all of it's faults in it's final season at least knew to keep episodes focused on one maybe two or three central plots and keep the rest for other episodes where as here due to this being the fourth episode of this season it has so many plots to juggle and while all of the Matt Smith scenes are really good they don't add anything to the plot of this episode with the same thing also being true for all of the scenes with the two Princess sometimes less equals more and if this episode did have a longer running time then it would allow all of the plots that it focuses on in this episode to breath and have the time that they are all fighting for but as things stand this is just a really crowded episode but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well in all honesty I in all honesty thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented t us in this very episode was in all honest not that bad. With the big battle at the end of the episode being really done with them mixing both CGI effects and practical effects in a way that does for the most part does make it hard to tell which was which with the battle scene in itself being really crafted with danger both coming from the ground thanks to the ground solider s and from the air thanks to there being not one not two but THREE dragons all in the air even with the third one not really taking part in the battle and just being there because the King was angry at his brother either way you sill get to see just what alot of damage just one dragon can do and so now having three of them pretty much all taking part in the battle does make that action scene near the end of episode really worth watching even more so when you take into account that at least two of the episodes plots converge here in this one battle scene in a way that does feel satisfactory with the two Princes having there plot line taking place during this one scene which is interesting to see play out as you get to see Aemond sort of make of a plan to have Rhaenys be the one that's held responsible for the death of his brother and when that doesn't work he then has to take matters into his hands which does make this episodes action all the more thrilling and exciting to watch in this very episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really enjoyable episode that is quite easily one of the more better episodes from this shows second series as even tho there are one or two very minor issues with the episode they don't on the whole take away anything from the episode with the episode itself a being a really good episode even despite all of it's faults and flaws in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 9.5 out of 10 from me.
