Doctor Who: The Face Of Evil Review

 

This is it we now in the week of the sixtieth anniversary specials with Doctor Who having a very busy week this week. As not only do we have the start of the sixtieth anniversary specials to look forward to but we also have the debut of new colorized reedit of the very first daleks serial and well I thought that i'd review some more classic Doctor Who for you all and so then join me as I review the episode that introduces us to a new companion with the episode in question being called simply just "The Face Of Evil" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when The Doctor finds himself landing on a jungle planet he finds himself having to help to the planets cave people like inhabitants and save them from a computer that has a split personality. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about thew actual plot that's actually featured /presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not all that bad as this episodes plot was genuinely really quite engaging and was at times also really quite entertaining and well written when it really wanted to be as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Tom Baker as The Doctor and the voice of Xoanon and Louise Jameson as Leela. Also starring in this episode is David Garfield as Neeva , Victor Lucas as Andor , Brendan Price as Tomas , Leslie Schofield as Calib , Colin Thomas as Sole , Lloyd McGuire as Lugo , Leon Eagles as Jabel , Mike Elles as Gentek , Peter Baldock as An Acolyte , Rob Edwards as the voice of Xoanon , Pamela Salem as the voice of Xoanon , Anthony Frieze as the voice of Xoanon and Roy Herrick as the voice of Xoanon.

Now then interms of what I personally thought /felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well tn in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Which for this show isn't really all that new as alot of this shows episodes contain some really good acting in them with this episode being no exception as we do get to see some truly wonderful acting in this episode with this being helped by the fact that not only is this episodes made up of some mostly good actors but it's also due to the fact that the script for this episode is so good that all the episodes have to do is just the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally.

As I mentioned at the start of this review this is the episode that sees the introduction of the character of Leela. I have to admit that only just based of off this episode and this episode alone Leela does seem like a pretty fun character with er more having street smarts and battle smarts which does put her at odds with the doctor's more pacifist ways of doing things and that is something that does create an interesting dynamic between the two characters and giving her a bit of an attitude does go along way to making her seem like she's a really un character as it means that she's not willing to take no for an answer and is more wiling to do what she wants to do just because she can do which is something that Doctor Who companion doesn't typically have.

Even tho both this episode and the previous episode have The Doctor be without a companion we don't really get to see just how that effects his personality. Which is a shame because as we all know when The Doctor goes without a companion for so long he basically starts acting like The Master with The Doctor needing a companion not only to talk to but also to remind him of his humanity which makes it all the more shocking that this episode didn't have him close to acting how The Master acts as by this point he'd been without Sarah Jane Smith for quite sometime and as such it would be really reasonable to assume that he would start acting like a villain as he's really had no one there to remind of his humanity.

While I do like the idea of the planet in this episode being one that The Doctor has visited before this episode. This episode doesn't go all the way with it as instead of it being a known planet in the world of Doctor Who it's instead one that we haven't heard of or even seen until this episode which means that the episode looses alot of it's emotional impact as it would have been much more better if the planet that this episodes takes place on was one that we'd seen before now like Skaro for example as then we'd know the planet and seeing how The Doctor had a negative impact on the planet would be all the more impactful as we know just evil a planet like Skaro could be and even was before The Doctor got involved in the first place. 

The cliffhanger ending of the end of part one is said to be one the best Doctor Who cliffhangers for most of the classic era. While this cliffhanger isn't as good as say the end of The Daleks episode one it is a really good cliffhanger as it leaves you wondering why The Doctor's face is in the side of a mountain and that is something that sets up a mystery for the remaining three episodes but at the same time it's not really a cliffhanger that makes you want to watch the next episode either which is something that the ending for The Daleks part one did do but with that being said if someone was to say that they really loved this cliffhanger ending I would totally understand why as it is a very striking image and it really is a really very well done cliffhanger as well.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember what this episodes grand total running time even was I do that this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly one hour and thirty minuets. With this story being four episodes long which is a bit of an issue as there's plenty of story there to cover at least five or six episodes and with that extra time the episodes could have developed more of characters and even shown us just how the relationship between The Doctor and Leela was going to be moving forward and showing them form some sort of a bond with each other both of which are key to showing us why Leela is going to be The Doctor's latest companion but I will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it.

So now then as this is an action how that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured /presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that. As it does give us a chance to see how Leela would be able to handle herself in a fight and while the action in this episode isn't as good as it perhaps could have been it's alot better then what it really could have been as well as the action in classic Doctor Who is never really that good and yet to see an episode that does some pretty good action in it just goes to show that the makers of this era of the show know how to do some really good looking action scenes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really solid and I can see why alot of Doctor Who fans seem to really like this episode but at the same time this isn't the best Tom Baker Doctor Who episode either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode earns itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

My SPOILER FILLED First Impressions Of The Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters TV Series

The Godzilla franchise has taken on many forms over it's near seventy years of existence and yet the one form it's never taken is an American live action TV show. Well that all ends right now with the return of the Monsterverse as for the first time ever we have an American Godzilla live action TV show and well you all just knew that I had to talk about the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED first impressions of the series that sees the king of the monsters tackle the world of TV with the series in question being called simply just "Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters" enjoy.

The plot of this show is when  her father dies Kate discovers a secret that connects him to the organization known as Monarch. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these first two episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these first two episodes was in all honesty not that bad with both of these first two episodes doing a really good of setting up the main plot of the show as well telling some really and at times some really very entertaining and at times very engaging plots in their right as well in freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in these first two episodes is F9 star Anna Sawai as Cate and The Flash star Kiersey Clemons as May. Also starring in these first two episodes is 461 Days Of Bento Ren Watabe as Kentaro , Kate star Mari Yamamoto as Keiko , The Muppets Mayhem Anders Holm as William "Bill" Randa , Joe Tippett as Tim , The Falcon And The Winter Soldier star Wyatt Russell as Lee Shaw , Kurt Russell as Older Lee Shaw and Takehiro Hira as Hiroshi.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good. Which was really surprising alot of the cast for this show is mostly unknown and so to expect great acting from them wouldn't have been the best of moves and yet in these first two episodes the cast gave us some really good performances which is helped by the fact that the scripts for these first two episodes is so good that all the cast have to do is just the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally as that's,just how good the acting is in the first two episodes of this show.

For once I have no idea who did the CGI for these first two episodes as there's no effects company listed anywhere on IMDB. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in these first episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty really good while the CGI in this show will never top the CGI in the movies just for budget reasons that doesn't mean that the CGI in these first two episodes was bad as it really wasn't as we get alot of really cool looking CGI effects in these first two episodes alone.

To connect this show to the Monsterverse we do have confirmation that this show takes place after the 2014 Godzilla and we also get John Goodman back as Bill Randa. With his scene at the start of episode one taking place during the events of Kong: Skull Island with alot of what we see in his scene connecting up really well with what we see in that film which just goes to show you that this is a cinematic universe that really is well thought out as everything that we see in both Godzilla's 2014 set scenes and older Bill's scenes matching up perfectly what we what we saw in their respective films which is something that alot of films and TV shows would fail to do for really a variety of different reasons.

The first episode of this show does make alot of use of time travel which did start to get quite confusing. As they would jump from one scene taking place in say 2013 and then the very next scene would take place in 2015 with nothing really connecting the two scenes but then we have scenes that are taking place in the nineteen fifties and while we do get a title card at the start of each scene the first time that we see them it would have been better if we got more of them all throughout the first episode as it really did start to get confusing the more episode one went one thankfully tho they did seem to calm down a bit on jumping around in time which did make it easier to understand just what time period we were in during certain scenes which did make episode two alot more easier to follow along with.

The human characters so far do seem to pretty one dimensional which is pretty par the course for the Godzilla franchise. However there is one thing that really did bug me when it comes to the human characters and that's the fact that the nineteen fifties scene feature an Asian woman working for the American government which just wouldn't happen and while yes this is a fantasy type of show and so it's not really bound to the rules of our world the Godzilla franchise is a fantasy series that's based on reality which means that there wouldn't be an Asian woman working for the American army especially so close after the second world war and the attack on Pearl Harbor but she is most probably the best character in the scenes that are set within the nineteen fifties thus far.

Now then episode one of this show has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly forty nine minuets and forty eight seconds with episode having a grand total running time of exactly forty six minuets and eighteen seconds. With episode two having the better running as while episode one rather rightfully has the longer running time due to how much that it has to set up it also takes alot of time getting going where as with episode two it gets going right away and it helps that both episodes really do have more then enough there interms of plot to cover both of their respective running times with both episodes not really having alot of filler scenes as alot of the scenes in both of the episodes are needed in order to tell the plot of the show as best that they can do and it helps that both of these first two really do have some really good pacing to the as well. 

So now then as this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these first two episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these first two episodes was in all honesty not that bad. While the action in these first two episodes wasn't as good as the action that we'd get in the movies it was still alot better then the action that we get i most modern TV shows as the action in these first two episodes was really cool looking and creative with all of the action looking really good and being genuinely really exiting to see as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall these weren't a bad set of episodes to kick start this show of with as they did a good of setting up the characters and setting up the rest of the plot for the rest of the show itself in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well all of the bad things that are in these first two episodes in this very post and since this is only my first impressions I won't be giving this show a rating however if i'm still watching this show when this shows final episode airs or even is released online and then i'll give this a show review and a rating as well.

Worzel Gummidge "Fire Drill" Review

 

We all have that show that even tho not alot of people care about it or even know about it we still look forward to watching it and maybe even talking about it in some way shape or form. Well for me Worzel Gummidge is one of those shows as I actively get excited a day or two before I sit down to watch the episode that i'm about to review and it was no different with this episode either and so then join me as I review the episode that sees Worzel go through his worst nightmare with the episode in question being called simply just "Fire Drill" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton decides to have a bonfire and Mr. Braithwaite decides that Worzel should be on top of the bonfire it's up to John and Sue to save him before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally though / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot thats actually featured  presented to us in this very episode was in al honesty really good with the plot being just scary enough to scare little kids but at the same time it's also lighthearted enough that you really do kind of buy into and just go along with it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Doctor Who star Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge and Jeremy Austin as John Peters. Also starring in this episode is Charlotte Coleman as Sue Peters , Geoffrey Bayldon as The Crowman , Mike Berry as Mr. Peters , Norman Bird as Mr. Braithwaite , Megs Jenkins as Mrs. Braithwaite , Frank Marlborough as Daft Head , Norman Mitchell as P.C. Parsons , Michael Ripper as Mr. Shepherd , Joan Sims as Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton and Last Of The Summer Wine star Sarah Thomas as Enid Simmons.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well the in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us this very episode was in all honesty really good.,Which is nothing new for this series as this series always has had some really good acting in it and alot of that is not only due to the fact that the episode ad the show has a bunch of really good actors and actresses in it but it's also due to the fact that the script for not only this episode but the show as a whole is so good that all the cast have to do is just say the words as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally.

What I really expecting this episode to do was for them to reveal some more of the lore behind this show. With it being reveled in this episode in this episode that Worzel was made at the very least one hundred years ago by The Crowman now weather or not it's the same Crowman that appears in this series or is a different Crowman is never mentioned but given the fact that all of the The Crowmen in this show are treated as mystical characters with magical abilities it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that is The Crowman that we see in this series that made Worzel all those years ago and given that we now know for a fact that Worzel is hundreds of years old it makes you wonder just how he managed to avoid getting destroyed for all these years.

This is the episode that introduces us to the pure nightmare fuel that is Dafthead with the general idea being that he was created by Worzel , John and Sue. Yet for some reason the makers of this show chose to make the character look really terrifying as everything about his design is really of and misshapen and heck even his mouth can't open fully which just adds to the overall creepiness and while this show most certainly has never shied away from showing us scary images heck even the very first episode of the show is pretty has some fairly scary imagery it in they've never had a character deliberately look and act scary and that just takes things to a whole different level of creepiness and it's one that will most likely scare little kids.

There is one thing that I didn't like about this episode and that's the fact that they have Dafthead come alive just because Worzel created him. While I do like the idea of scary looking scarecrows being created as indeed this is something that Worzel Gummidge Down Under would do to great effect what I don't like is the fact that it implies that any scarecrow can create a scarecrow as that is something that should only be done by The Crowman as he would know what kind of magic that that would take in order to pull it off and yet by making Worzel bring Dafthead while it does make sense given the fact that Dafthead was created to replace Worzel on top of the bonfire it's something that shouldn't have been done as The Crowman could have tried to talk the adults in the village out of it and instead not leave Worzel to create a scarecrow which is something that The Crowman knew that he was going to be doing.  

For those of you that are wondering this episode is one of the episodes that does hint of and kind of ends with the death of Worzel Gummidge. I say kind of as while his body does indeed get burnt and blown up The Crowman does manage to save his head and so he builds him an entirely new body however just the very idea of Worzel Gummidge actually dying and the makers of the show actually going through does go to the show that this show treats it's kid audience with respective and doesn't dumb things down for them and while yes they do find a rather inventive way out of the corner that they almost wrote themselves into the very fact that they had the guts to kind of kill of the main character of the show really does show you that this show is one of if not the best kids programme ever made.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this episodes grand total running time even was I do know that this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly twenty five minuets. Which is pretty much close to being the bogstanderd running time for this show and to this episodes credit it really does have more then enough their interms of both plot an story to cover that large amount of running time with no scene in this episode feeling like filler as every single scene in this episode is about either advancing the plot of the episode or about setting up something that will pay off later on in the episode and it really does help that this episode really goes have some really good pacing to it as well.

So now then as this a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As this episode does have some genuinely funny moments in it however the main focus in this episode isn't the comedy it's the drama and on that regard the episode does have some really good drama in it as well as there's this huge sense of dread all throughout the episode with Jon , Sue and Worzel trying to prevent Worzel being put on the bonfire but when this episode tells a joke it is a genuinely funny joke that will get a laugh out of anyone in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Overall this was a really good and given it's firework theme it's one that's perfect to watch every November 5th and while this episode might be a bit to scary for kids it's something that most adults should love in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 9 out of 10 from me.

Godzilla: The Animated Series "D.O.A" Review

 

In just a few short days time the Monsterverse returns in a rather unexpected way with not a new movie but the franchises first live action TV series. As such I thought that i'd produce a tie in review however it was really hard to fir me to choose what review would serve as a great tie in review however I think that i've found a really rather solid choice and so then join me as I review the episode that sees Godzilla take a sleep for most of the episode with the episode in question being called simply just "D.O.A"  enjoy.

The plot if this episode is Nick and his monster hunting team travel to an island that's being terrorized by a giant worm and go to stop only to run into trouble when Godzilla finds himself knocked thanks to the islands government. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honest I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honstey not that bad as the plot was really good but at the same time it was a rather lackluster affair with the plot giving us no stakes and being rather generic as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Ian Ziering as Nick Tatopoulos ,  Brigette Bako as Monique Dupre and Rino Romano as Randy Hernandez. Also starring in this episode is Charity James as Dr. Elsie Chapman . Malcolm Danare as Dr. Mendel Craven , Tom Kenny as N.I.G.E.L. and Frank Welker as Godzilla. This episode does only have the main cast of characters in it which is a shame because there's an army character in this episode that could have been played by Kevin Dunn's character as the two essentially fill the same purpose as being antagonists to Nick and the team and yet for some reason the series regular antagonist is no where to be seen in this episode which really doesn't make any sense as that character wouldn't give up on killing Godzilla.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about he actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us  in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. With alot of this episodes cast turning in some really good performances which is to be expected as alot of this episodes cast members are a bunch of really good actors and actresses but even this episodes cast can't make this episodes script work as the the script gives them all nothing to work interms of what it is that their respective characters personalities even are in the first place.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Sam Won Animation. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well the in all honesty I in all  honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us n this very episode was in all honesty really good with this episodes animation really being alot alot better then it really had any right to be as nobody expects good animation from a series that's based of off a movie that not alot of people like and yet un thus episode we get some truly good looking animation with all of the characters getting some really nice looking and rather fluid animation.

One of the biggest issues that I ave with this episode is that for a vast majority of the episode Godzilla himself isn't in the episode. With him being knocked out and on the brink of death due to what the islands government does to him which while that is a good reason to not have him that much in the episode for a show that's named Godzilla and as Godzilla as the main character you'd think that Godzilla himself wold be in the episode as he's the one that we've come here to see and yet he barely shows up with us being left characters that we either don't like , haven't seen enough of to form an opinions or thanks to the 1998 Godzilla movie are just laughably bad characters heck the only likable and entertaining character in this episode is Dr. Elsie Chapman and that's really it as none of the characters are likable for various different reasons.

I do give this episode some credit for trying to kill of Godzilla this early into this shows run as that is a brave move to do. However at the same time tho as the show is called Godzilla we know that he's going to make it OK as there not going to kill their big franchise star which means that there's no tension in those scenes and while it was a brave move for them to try threaten to kill of the character it's one doesn't really work as this is a kids show and while having Godzilla almost die would work for a season or even series finale as there the stakes would high enough for that to a possibility and it would, bring closure to the series as a whole doing it this early on into the shows run is just something that really doesn't work in the slightest.

This episode is I believe the first time that we see a giant worm be a minster in anything to do with Godzilla. With it being painfully obvious why they haven't done it either before or since as there's not really alot that can be done with that basic idea for a monster as it makes the action scenes next to impossible to make look good and when the character disappears it makes the characters look dumb as there's no way that a character this size can just disappear without no one seeing it and while t's design is pretty good that's really the only good thing about it as the creature has no special powers that make it an actual threat to Godzilla with that meaning that we really have no reason to fear that Godzilla will loose as we know that he will find away to win in the end.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty one minuets and twenty seven seconds. Which is a tad bit on the long side for an episode like this one to have as this episode has a fairly weak plot to begin with which means that this episode really didn't need to be as long as it was as while this episode most certainly has more then enough interms of plot to cover this amount of running time it's also a plot that is stretched rather thing because of this running time as such in order to fill out this running time we get rather pointless subplot with the Mendel character that really could have been cut out from the episode as it adds nothing to the overall plot of the episode but I will admit that this episode does gave some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well the in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As we do get to see Godzilla use his fire breath which will always look cool no matter who he's fighting however due to his opponent being a giant worm there's not really alot that they can do it make the action in this episode anything more then average as the monster doesn't have any powers that it can use against Godzilla which means that all we are seeing is Godzilla trying ad failing to beat up a giant worm and nothing mire then that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this Friday cannot come along soon enough and while this episode was a decent watch from a decent show it's an episode that's bot really as good as it could have been in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this episode in this very review ad as such that means that this very episode earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Doctor Who: The Krotons Review

 

With the launch of the Whoniverse the other week the BBC also included well over eight hundred hours of classic Doctor Who. This means that alot of very little known stories can now get rediscovered such is the case with the episode that i'm about to review for you all today as this story has the honor of being one of the few fully surviving stories starring Patrick Troughton to exist in it's entirety and well I thought that i'd review this really little known episode of classic Doctor Who and so then join me as I review the episode that alot of either didn't know about or really just straight up forgot about with the episode in question being called simply just "The Krotons" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is The Doctor , Jamie and Zoe find themselves on a planet and ave to help some people overcome the people that they think are helping hem. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that thew actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was n all honesty not that that bad bur that's also the issue as the plot of this episode isn't all that good either with this p;lot being one of the very few classic Doctor Who plots that is rather OK at best and nothing really more then that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Patrick Troughton as The Doctor , Frazer Hines as Jamie McCrimmon and Wendy Padbury as Zoe Heriot. Also starring in this episode is James Copeland as Selris , James Cairncross as Beta , Gilbert Wynne as Thara , Philip Madoc as Eelek , Terence Brown as Abu , Madeleine Mills as Vana , Richard Ireson as Axus , Maurice Selwyn as A Custodian , Bronson Shaw as A Student , the great Roy Skelton as The Voice Of The Krotons and Patrick Tull as The Voice Of The Krotons.

Now then interms of what personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Wit all three main leads turning in some really good performances with the the same also beg true for the episodes guest cast as well but what lets the the acting down in this episode is the fact that this episodes script just isn't that good as it gives none of the cast members anything to work with interms of what their characters personalities even are and so the cast can't turn in that good of a performance as the script just won't allow for it.

This episode does do a fairly decent job of showing us just how this new TARDIS team really acts together. With The Doctor and Zoe being the brains of the bunch and Jamie being the muscle this does give them a different dynamic from when they were travelling with Victoria as there only The Doctor was the brains with Jamie mostly watching over Victoria where as here he doesn't really have to do that as Zoe knows what she's ding which means that instead of forming romantic feeling like what happened with Victoria Jamie now forms a brother and sister type of relationship with him also developing the same respect that he has for The Doctor only this time it's for Zoe which does mean that the three form kind of a close family unit with each other.

This episodes titular villains aren't really the best villains that the show has had with them just being huge lumbering robots. Not really helping things is the fact that characters don't really have any stand out voices with them instead of just having the bogstanderd robotic voice which if anything just makes them sound more comical then it does threatening all of this really shouldn't be the case as this episodes writer is Robert Holmes who was one of the great Doctor Who writers and who is known for creating The Autons and yet here The Krotons just come across as being personality less machines and not really something that could be featured in more episodes as there's really nothing that you can do with these characters.

I will admit that while The Krotons in this episodes aren't used to their fullest potential there design does for the most part look really good. As while they do look like nothing more then giant lumbering robots their diamond shaped heads and their claws do work really well for their designs and go along way to help making them look like aliens and these designs could have worked if they had a good enough story to help to support them which sadly they don't heck we don't even get that much of a backstory for these characters which seems like the BBC had plans to try and make these characters as big as The Daleks but they couldn't do it as what made The Daleks work is that they felt like real three dimensional characters where this episodes villains just feel like cardboard cutouts of much more better villains.

As was stated at the start of this review this episode is one of the very few rare episodes to still completely exist in it's entirety. As alot of Doctor Who from the sixties was wiped from the BBC Achieves these range from episodes that nobody remembers to episodes that are important to the world of Doctor Who like The Tenth Planet for example have episodes that are missing or are completely missing as such when you come across a story that is fully intact you have to appreciate it as it is a very rare thing to see indeed and while alot of the missing episodes have either been found or recreated using animation it still doesn't change the fact that are still alot of missing episodes not just Doctor Who episodes out there just waiting to be discovered by fans both old and new.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely live of remember whatever this episodes grand total running time even was I do know that for  a fact that this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly one hour and thirty minuets. This to me is a huge issue as this episode has more then story to last at the very least six or seven episodes and with that added time it would have allowed the story to be more fully developed and for the villains and side characters to be more fully developed as ell all of which would have gone a really long way to making this story alot better then what it actually is as would have made the villains feel alot more of a threat and it would have made the story alot more better as well but I really will admit that as it is that this episode really does have some really good acing to it.

So now then as this is an action show that means that I gave to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. However at the same time tho the action in this episode does look really clumsy looking and is only when compared to other action scenes sixties Doctor Who and while it is nice to see companions get to take part in an action scene and while it does make sense for tat companion to be Jamie it's not something that a companion should be looking to do in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall for a Doctor Who episode that's written by Robert Holmes this episode feels like a waste of a good idea as this episode had all of the potential to be a really good Doctor Who episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode earns itself a grad old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Game Of Thrones: Conquest & Rebellion An Animated History Of The Seven Kingdoms Film Review

 

To say that Game Of Thrones was a pop culture phenomenon would be a huge understatement as at it;s height this show was everywhere. Yet even tho it had several very successful seasons it really only had one animated spin off and it's one that that really not alot of people really know about as it was something that was never aired on TV as it was instead released direct to DVD and it's that very animated film that i'm going to be talking about today and so then join me as I review the film that really does have a mouthful of a title with the film in question being called simply just "Game Of Thrones: Conquest & Rebellion An Animated History Of The Seven Kingdoms" enjoy.

The plot of this film is Aegon Targaryen starts his conquest to rule all of Westeros but his quest might very well cost his family everything. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films plot telling us a story that due to the timeline of the show just couldn't be told in the show itself as well as being a really entertaining plot and very engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Harry Lloyd as Viserys Targaryen , Conleth Hill as Varys and Pilou Asbæk as Euron Greyjoy. Also starring in this film is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister , Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark and Aidan Gillen as Petyr Baelish. While the fact that they managed to get a good deal of the cast from the main show back for alot of them it doesn't really make sense for their characters to be telling these stories as say for example Euron Greyjoy isn't the type of character to be telling stories about the past however a characters like Tyrion Lannister would as it's something that he would frequently do in the show and so why they didn't get Peter Dinklage back for this film is well and truly beyond me.

Now then interms of what I personally thought /felt about thew actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honest personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually feature / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which really isn't all that surprising as these actors and actresses are playing characters that at the point that this film was being made were mostly still playing and had been playing for close to a decade which means that they would know what performance would best suit there restive characters in any given and what helps the acting in this film is the fact that this films script is so good that all the cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally.

For once I have no clue who is doing the animation for this film as no animation company is listed anywhere on IMDB. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that thew actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this film having a more storybook style of animation to it which means that alot of the film is told basically in still images with there being very movement in the film but what little movement we do get was really good with this films animation also giving us some really cool looking camera moves as well.

As a die hard Game Of Thrones and House Of The Dragon fan it was really cool seeing how this film connects itself to Game Of Thrones. Not only through the use of returning actors but also due to the fact that this film goes into further details about wars that were only hinted at during the shows run which was a nice touch as was hearing how certain characters felt about certain events which for the most part felt very in character but I would have liked it if we got to hear a bit more about what the characters from the show was doing during after certain events of Aegon's Conquest especially those that we know for a fact would have been alive as it would have added more connections from the film to the show and it would have made characters that we knew very little about in the show seem all the more important in the grand scheme of things.

This film is about ten chapters long which made it feel alot more like a mini-series then it is an actual film. However on the flip side of that this film s basically an anthology film by it''s very nature and with that in mind it does make sense to have this film split up into chapters as it then allows us to go into more detail about certain events that happen's during Aegon's Conquest alot of which really would have been cut out if it was done in a more familiar style of story telling and while pretty much all of the events in this film do also get covered in the book "Fire And Blood: The History Of The Targaryen Kings From Aegon The Conqueror To Aegon III" which really means that this film is pretty really much not needed anyway as it's all covered really in alot more detail in book form then it really is in the form of this film.

I don't really think that it was necessary for the makers of the film to include how iconic things from the show were created. As they really added nothing to the overall plot of the film and felt alot more like fanservice and nothing more then that which is a shame as seeing how the Iron Throne was created was a really good and if you've seen the final ever episode of Game Of Thrones then you'll notice some nice symmetry between how the throne was created and how the throne was destroyed which was something that I really liked as well as it being something that I never really noticed before and it's something that makes me wonder if the ending of the show really was planned out as given the nature of animation it's something that would have to have been decided pretty long ago.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life of me remember whatever this films running time even was I do know that for a fact that this film has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly forty four minuets. Which was the perfect time for this film to have as given the fact that this film is told in chapters there's only, so many chapters that they could have dine before the film started to get boring and starting to stretch it's already fairly thin story even thinner but at the same time as there is so much that could be told during this time period I would have liked it if this film was a tad bit longer but that would mean stretching it's story beyond breaking point which in the end would do lot more harm to the film then it would good and I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it as well.

So now then as this is an action film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty i in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all  honesty not that bad. As we do get to see alot of really blood action scenes in this film however the alot of the action scenes aren't fully animated with them mostly being still image which does mean that it's very hard to fully judge the action in this film but based off of hat we see in this film this films action scenes really do seem to be very exciting and very well done in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film really does make me wonder why they never produced a fully animated Game Of Thrones series or movie as there is so much in that world that would look truly stunning in the world of animation in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very very review and as such that means that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.
