Game Of Thrones "You Win Or You Die" Review

Game Of Thrones fans I had such a good time talking about the final ever episode of the show and so I thought that i'd talk to you again. Only this time instead of choosing an episode from the pretty bad final season I thought that i'd go all the way back to the very beginning and take a look at the episode from the very first season of the show and I have to admit I chose a very good episode but honestly I only chose this episode because of one quote which i'll get into later and so here is my review of "You Win Or You Die" enjoy.

The plot of the episode is Ned confronts Queen Cersei about some secrets , while King Robert is gravely injured and Daenerys has a brush with death. I know that that summery is very bare bones but trust me when I say that it's the best that I could do , that being said the stories that are told in this episode I found to be really engaging with all the stories presented being well told as well as being well written.

Starring in this episode is Sean Bean as Eddard Stark , Mark Addy as Robert Baratheon and Jason Momoa as Drogo. Also starring in the episode is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister , Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister , Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen , Iain Glen as Jorah Mormont , Aidan Gillen as Petyr Baelish , Kit Harington as Jon Snow , Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy and making his debut for the series is the legend that is Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister.

I know that this is going to sound odd but I actually can't believe how much who we think are the main cast of this don't appear in this episode there's no Maisie Williams , no Sohpie Tunrer and no awesomeness that is Peter Dinklage it's honestly weird watching an episode of the show and not seeing them in it. As for what I thought about the acting in the episode it was honestly really good it's up the show's high standard of acting and that's honestly the best thing that I can say about the acting in this episode.

This episode is in my opinion a good episode to show of how everyone in the red keep is lier and is willing to sell anyone out since we see Little finger lie to Ned and Cersei lie to everyone in the throne room. I honestly love the fact that the Red Keep is full of liars because it means that you have to work out who's telling the truth and how isn't and this episode is a good example of that because both of the characters that I listed are known liars in this world and soy your always wondering if there telling the truth or not. 

I will full on admit that there was only one reason why I wanted to review this episode and that's the fact that what I think is the best quite in the entire show is in this episode "When You Play The Game Of Thrones You Win Or You Die There Is No Middle Ground that quote right there just sums up the entire show perfectly for me. Also given who's saying the quote and who she's saying it to it's now really ironic since both characters played the game of thrones and lost.

What also makes this quote stand out to me is the fact that it's the most accurate way to describe the show in my opinion. There's only two ways out for people who play the game of thrones either you claim the throne or you die there's no middle ground and that is true for every one who played the game and the only one who really didn't play the game Bran is the one who ended up winning the throne in the end and no Sansa doesn't count since she did technically win a throne just not the iron throne so she doesn't really count as a player in my opinion.

This is the episode that sees the death of King Robert and I have to say compared to other deaths even in this very episode his death is honestly not as over the top with gore as other deaths are. His death is honestly really well done it serves as setting up basically the rest of the show with all these families fighting for the throne as well as being a scene that is in my humble opinion really well acted as well as well written.

For those that don't know this is the episode that saw the debut of Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister and I have to say even tho he's in one scene he is so terrifying in that one scene. Even tho i've seen this episode a dozen times I was still pretty scared by him so I can only imagine how Nikolaj Coster-Waldau felt being in that scene with him for god knows how many hours and it's honestly a great introduction scene in my opinion.

There are a few issues that I personally had with the episode the first of which being that the finale with the big twist really did come out of nowhere. By that I mean there was no real build up to it happening it just came out of nowhere  to me the big reveal would have worked better if there was some sort of build up in the episode but sadly we don't get any but it is still a good reveal in my own humble opinion.

Overall out of the season one episode i'd say that this is one of the best episodes simply because it does a good job of setting up the rest of the show. That being said there are some issues that I personally had with the episode with one of them being the episode felt a lot longer then it actually was which is a shame because the episode was in my opinion really enjoyable as such it gets an 8.5 out of 10 from this Game Of Thrones fan.

 

My First Impressions Of The Stargirl TV Series

Ladies and gents DC is back with a new live action TV show which depending on how your going to watch the show will either have just been released or is about to air. Well this is a show that I was honestly intrigued about since I knew nothing of the characters as such I was honestly interested in seeing the show since it's also the last new DC live action show that we might be getting this year I thought that it was at least worth taking a look at and so here are my first impressions of "Stargirl" not to be confused with the Disney+ movie of the exact same name.

The plot of the episode is teenager Courtney Whitmore and her mother move from California to Nebraska with her step dad and brother and when they get there Courtney discovers something that will change her life forever. Yeah this is your basic superhero origin story with nothing new really thrown in but I do have to say that it does work for this show mostly because from what I can tell the origin is being done over two episodes instead of just one which means we'll get more time to fully develop Courtney as a character.

Starring in this episode and thus the rest of the series is Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore and Yvette Monrealas Yolanda as Montez/Wildcat. Also in this episode and the rest of the series is Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel , Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler , Trae Romano as Mike Dugan , Jake Austin Walker as Henry King Jr. , Hunter Sansone as Cameron Mahkent , Christopher James Baker as Dr. Henry King Sr. , Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore , Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton and Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan.

In terms of what I thought about the acting in this episode for a pilot episode the acting was about on par as what I was expecting it to be. In that it's not that good but it's not that bad either all of the actors are still trying to find there characters but you honestly expect fairly average acting in a pilot anyways so no one should hold that against this episode since most pilot episodes have bad acting in them anyways.

I will say that if your expecting Courtney to be wearing the costume at the end of this episode then get ready to be disappointed. Since she doesn't wear it at all in this episode hell they don't even show her making a costume which is honestly really refreshing since it would have been super easy to have her appear in a few sexy alternative costumes before settling on the one she wears but the most we get is her wearing a hoodie and bandanna and that's it.

They do actually kind of set up a mystery which I hope lasts the whole season because if it does it will make things really interesting. If you can't tell i'm trying to keep things as spoiler free as possible since alot of people will be watching this show when it airs on The CW and so it's not fair to them if I spoil the episode , if the mystery goes they way that I think it's going then it's going to make things really interesting in later episodes of the show should it go that way of course but I could be wrong but I hope that i'm not tho.

Now how this show is being released is to me really interesting because it's airing on both the DC Universe streaming service and The CW but on different days. Why they couldn't just stick to on platform to release this show on is beyond me but I guess it gives people more reasons to subscribe to DC Universe since there's new content on there now but if that's the case then why have it air the next day on The CW and why when the series has finished airing are hey going to have all the episodes available on The CW website for all to stream it really makes no sense to me whatsoever but that's just my opinion on the matter tho.

I admit I got a little bit worried that this show would go super woke on us with it's first episode like what Batwoman did. and i'm pleased to say that that honest'y isn't the case at least with this episode. That to me is a very good thing since hitting you over the head with being woke at the expense of telling a good story is never a good thing but here it looks like there telling a good story first and and having a female superhero be second which is a good thing because it makes Courtney seem more like an interesting character.

I will say that this episode really did fly by for me this episode is nearly an hour long and it really didn't feel like it at all. Which is honestly a pretty rare thing for me to say since most shows that are exactly an hour long very often feel like there an hour long where as this one felt more like it was forty to forty five minuets long and alot of that time is spent developing the characters so we actually get a chance to care about them which is something that most shows don't do which to be fair isn't a bad thing since you have an entire series to develop them and care for them but it's nice to see the pilot episode take it's time to develop the characters.

I'm just going to come right out and say it this show looks like a freaking movie it's that stunning to look at. Hell there were several times where I thought that this could very easily be turned into a movie because it looked that beautiful even the effects which i'm not really going to comment on since there's not that many of them in this episode looked like the kind of effects that you'd expect to see in a movie and not a TV show.

Overall I honestly really did enjoy this episode and I can honestly see myself enjoying the over twelve episodes of this show. There is a reason why i've not mentioned the action sadly it's kind of a spoiler but if you've seen the episode you'll know why but let's just say for a superhero action show it's a bad thing but I will say that so far this show is of to good start it has interesting and likeable characters and it gives you a hint as to where the story could be going as such this episode even tho it's not perfect gets an 8 out of 10 from me and only time will tell if I watch this on a weekly basis or not but so far so freaking good.

Popeye Cartoon Review "Popeye The Sailor" , "I Yam What I Yam" And "Blow Me Down" Review

Now then boys and girls since my review of the first Superman cartoons went down really well I thought to myself what other older cartoon shorts could I take I look at and then it hit Popeye. So as with the Superman cartoon reviews I watched the first few cartoons only this time instead of just watching the first two I watched the first three cartoons mostly because I was having such a good time watching and so here is my review of the first three Popeye cartoons.

The plot of the first cartoon called "Popeye The Sailor" is that Popeye is on shore leave and so takes Olive to the carnival and while there they run into Popeye's enemy Bluto , meanwhile the plot of the second short is that Popeye , Olive and J. Wellington Wimpy find themselves trapped on an island meanwhile in the third film Popeye must fight Bluto after he threatens Olive. Yeah all three stories are really simple which I guess works for the six or seven minuet time frame these cartoons have but at the same time they don't really leave alot of room to tell a good story.

Starring in the three shorts are William "Billy" Costello as Popeye, Bonnie Poe as Olive Oyl and Charles Lawrence as Wimpy. Also starring in the shorts are Bonnie Poe as Betty Boop and William Pennell as Bluto. You guys haven't mis read anything Betty Boop does appear in the first Popeye cartoon for reasons that i'll explain later on in the review but it is pretty cool seeing these two crossover even if it's just in one short.

In terms of what I thought about the acting in the shorts from what little dialog there is it was pretty good at best. Which for a series that started in the early 1930's is the best thing that I can say about the acting since like I said in these early shorts there's very little dialog and so its hard to fully get a grip on the quality of the acting but from what I could tell the quality of the acting is pretty good which was honestly what I was expecting to be honest.

As with the Superman cartoon shorts doing the animation for these early shorts is Fleischer Studios and like with the Superman shorts they did alot of these early Popeye cartoons before getting there name changed to Famous Studios. The one bad thing I can say about these early cartoons is that the characters are far two bouncy for my liking but the overall quality of the animation I felt to be of a very high quality heck i'd go as far to say that it rivals that of Disney especially when you factor in the Superman cartoons.

Now there 's a reason why I posted a picture of Betty Boop and that's because the very first Popeye short is actually a Betty Boop cartoon. This cartoon would also mark the only time that the two would appear on screen together and I have to say that having them appear in the same cartoon makes sense since at that time Betty Boop was a huge star and so in a way it's sort of a passing of the torch time of moment sadly tho I cannot post a picture of the two together since she technically appears topless in there one and only scene together.

Now for those that don't know Popeye and the rest of the and actually started life as comic strip characters appearing in Thimble Theatre on January 17th 1929. The character very quickly became the main start if the strip and so turning him into a cartoon series makes sense hell from this we can pretty much gather that Popeye actually made cartoon history by being the first comic book character to get turned in a cartoon since the first Popeye cartoon debuted in 1933 and lasted for decades.

Each of these cartoons runs for at least six or seven minuets and in my opinion it really feels like they should have been at least ten minuets each. Mostly because the cartoons fly by so fast that you don't have the time to take anything in and so by the time the cartoons reach there end while you are left with a smile on your face your also left wondering what you even watched in the first place which is not a good thing in my opinion.

As you can all no doubt work out all three of these cartoons are in black and white and so I will fully understand if people chose not to watch them. I will also fully understand if people chose not to watch I Yam What I Yam because it does have some shall we say questionable content with how the Indians are depicted but to that I say that that cartoon was made in a different time and so I ask that you judge that cartoon by the standards of the day it was made in and not by the standards that we have in today's society.

Now then boys and girls since these are all comedy cartoons that does mean that we have to talk about the jokes in the shorts. Which I honestly feel were really good granted alot of the jokes haven't aged well at all but that's bound to happen with a cartoon made in the 1930's but alot of the psychical stuff is still funny and alot of the jokes that they have in the action scenes are really funny and the action itself is really good.

Overall these shorts are really funny and they like all good cartoons from back in the day they hold up really well. There are only a few issues which i've mentioned in this review but most of them are very understandable as such "Popeye The Sailor" which I think is the best of the three gets an 8 out of 10 from me where as "I Yam What I Yam" gets a 7.5 out of 10 from and "Blow Me Down" gets a 7.5 out of 10 from me as well. 

If this series does continue I think it'll just be one review for every one cartoon just because I think that I can get a full review just one of them. The same thing will also go for the Superman cartoons as well for the exact same reason in terms of when they'll release i'm working that out right now but i'm thinking maybe once a week or something like that just because that way I don't get sick of doing them but we'll see.

 

  

Superman 1940 Reviews "Superman" And "The Mechanical Monsters" Review

The character of Superman has been had so many cartoon shows and animated movies it's hard to really keep track of them all. So I thought that i'd do something that's a little bit different ans talk about some of the very first Superman cartoons since i've honestly not seen people talking about these cartoons which for the life of me I don't know why since these cartoons are still stunning to look at the first two cartoons "Superman" and "The Mechanical Monsters" enjoy.

The plot of the first cartoon "Superman" is a mad scientist is going to use a deadly laser beam at midnight and it's up to Superman to stop him , where as in the second cartoon "The Mechanical Monsters" the plot is someone is using robots to steal millions of dollars in jewels and it's up to Superman to put a stop to it once and for all. Plot wise these cartoons are freaking great even tho they have a basic plot line they make it work and due to that both plots become engaging and exciting to see play out.

Starring in these two cartoons are Bud Collyer as Clark Kent / Superman and Joan Alexander as Lois Lane. Also starring in these two cartoons are Julian Noa as Perry White , Jack Mercer as the Mad Scientist and Jackson Beck as the Narrator, Radio Newscaster and in the case of the second short Bud Collyer as The Inventor. Now I know he's i've listed Julian as being in both cartoons but he's only in the first one but he does get a mention in the second one.

In terms of what I thought about the acting in both the shorts it was honestly really freaking good in my opinion. WE don't get alot of dialog in both shorts since they rather understandably have to move the story along but what lines of dialog we do have are well delivered and it's clear to anyone who watches even a few minuets of these cartoons that all of the actors are clearly doing the best that they can and it really does show in my opinion.

Doing the animation for the first nine of these shorts and thus these first two shorts was Fleischer Studios. To put it simply the animation in these shorts look like they were made in the either the eighties or the nineties and not the early forties that's how good it is. In my opinion the animation looks like it belongs in a feature length film I honestly implore any animation fan or even any fan of Batman: The Animated Series to check these cartoons any of them it doesn't matter because they all have great freaking animation in them.

What you guys might not know is that the first short "Superman" is actually a historical cartoon in the world of Superman since it's the first time that the character had the ability to fly. In the early comic books he had the power to leap tall building in a single bound which does look good in comic book and in radio form but not so much in animation and so Superman was instead given the power to fly and it's been with the character ever since.

Not all is good with these cartoons tho since for obvious reasons we don't get to find out much about the villains. Which I fully understand why since each short is only around ten minuets but a key part of story telling is getting across all points of view and that does mean getting the villains point across as well but due to the tight running time we only spend a few minuets in these first two shorts with the villains and so we don't really get to find out what there end goal is or why there even evil in the first place.

I will say that the pacing for both of the cartoons is honestly really good with both cartoons not feeling to fast nor to slow. They only spend a few minuets at the start of both cartoons setting up the story with the remaining several minuets being filled with exciting action and stunning visuals as such there's no room to think about things such as story or character because your so sucked into what's happening that those things become secondary in my opinion.

Since these are action cartoons that does mean that we have to talk about the action that's in both cartoons. In my opinion the action in both cartoons was extremely exciting to see and it's during these action sequences which also take most of the cartoons running time where the animation really stands out since we get to see things which would have been difficult to do back in the forties like buildings almost falling over or cars crashing for example and it all looks so freaking good.

Overall I cannot give these cartoons enough praise since even all of these years later they are still so freaking good. Like I said in the review there is one thing that I personally didn't like even tho the reasons behind it are very understandable it still have to be taken into account as such I give the first cartoon short "Superman" an 8.5 out of 10 and the second animated short "The Mechanical Monsters" a 7.5 out of 10 and the entire collection of cartoons is up on Youtube so go and watch them all right freaking now and there in the public domain as well.

 

Wonder Woman Earth One Volume Two Review

Well then comic book fans I can't even remember the last time I reviewed a comic book it was that long ago but I thought to myself that since we have all this time of I might as well do one now. As luck would have it I also forgot about the sequel to Wonder Woman Earth One Volume One being out and so after being reminded of it I thought that this would make a good book to review and so here is my review of Wonder Woman Earth One Volume Two" enjoy.

The plot of the book is Diana gets I guess you could say brainwashed by someone all the meanwhile there is a threat coming not only for Paradise Island aka Themyscira but also from on the island itself. The first thing you should all know about this book is it's part 1 of a two part story and so nothing gets resolved in this book as for what I thought about the story tho it was honestly really good and that's the best thing that I can say about story.

The writer of the book is comic book legend Grant Morrison who's written a ton of books for DC as well as a Doctor Who comic book. I honestly didn't like the writing in this one to me it felt very child like like he was just putting Diana in situations that only a child would come up with and it just didn't work with the more adult tone of this series but when Grant does write something in the book that goes with the tone it works oddly well.

Returning from the previous book to do the artwork is Yanick Paquette who's mostly worked on books for DC but has also done a few X-Men books as well as other books for Marvel. I'll admit the only book i've seen from this artist is Wonder Woman Earth One Volume One and so I can't really say if his work is any good or not but I do feel that this book is a slight step down in quality in my opinion the artwork isn't bad by any means but it's also not as good as it perhaps could have been.

Yeah this book is pretty violent like way more violent then I was honestly expecting it to be but given the books more mature tone it's to be expected. The violence in my opinion works really well since it's used to tell a story or used to advance the story instead of being in there to shock you which is in my opinion a very good thing however the horror fan inside of me wanted to see more violence since what little we got was pretty freaking awesome.

There is one idea that I really liked in the book and that's a I guess you could say robotic version of Areas. That to me is just such a cool idea it's just a shame that we don't get to see it getting used in this book so i;m hoping that it gets used whenever volume three comes out. I also thought it was a good way to bring in one of Wonder Woman's classic foes since it would have been so easy just to have him show up but nope this way is actually pretty creative.

Now for the life of me I really couldn't tell you who the main villain of this book is since there's three villains and even then one of them becomes a good guy at the end of the book those being Maxwell Lord , Leon Zeiko (there's a reason why i'm not giving out his super villain name) and the sexy as hell Paula Von Gunther. All three of characters are villains in this story and all three of them are weak as hell since we don't get to find out anything about the characters nor do we get to see what there end goals are they are evil just for the sake of being evil and that makes them and thus Diana less interesting.

Now if you're like me and you've read the first volume then you'll know that this I guess you could say either series or mini-series gives a more sexy take on the character and by that I mean they show of more sexy images and she the character in more sexy angles. Well the same is true here heck I couldn't even show you one of the more sexier images since there was some nudity in there but all I can say is damn because they really like showing of Diana in this volume and I loved it not going to lie.

Now then this is an action book and so that means that we have to talk about the action that's in the comic book itself. There honestly isn't that much action in the book which I guess makes sense since this is the first part of a two part story and so it makes sense that alot of the action would be held of until the final book but what little action that there is in this book is honestly really well done in my opinion it's cool and exciting both of which you want in an action sequence I just wish that there was more of it.

Overall while I think that the first book is alot more enjoyable to read and is so far the best one in this series of volumes. That doesn't however mean that I don't like this book because far from it in fact there was a lot that I liked about the book alot of which i've mentioned in this very review it's just that there's alot more that I didn't like about the book which i've also covered in this review and so this volume gets a 5.5 out of 10 from me.

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War Review

DC fans the company hasn't had much luck when it comes to creating a cinematic universe at least with their live action films anyways. However they have had some slightly better luck with there animated direct to DVD films most of which are indeed set in the same universe and well the latest film in this line of films has just been released digitally and so here is my review of "Justice League Dark: Apokolips War" let's get it on.

The plot of the movie is two years after Darkseid takes over the world the Justice League , Teen Titans and Suicide Squad launch an all out attack to take back the planet. Yeah this plot is pretty freaking epic but at the same time because it's being told as one hour and a half movie it means that alot of things gets rushed things which would have had more of an impact if it was told over at least two movies.

Every actor in this film is a returning actor and so it makes no sense to say that there returning who isn't since there's no new actors in this film what so ever. As such starring in this film are Jason O'Mara as Bruce Wayne / Batman , Matt Ryan as John Constantine , Jerry O'Connell as Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman , Taissa Farmiga as Raven , Rosario Dawson as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman and Tony Todd as Darkseid.

Now I know that i've not credited every single actor who's in this film but if I did then i'd be here all day so I just cut it down just a few names but trust me when I say this film has an epic voice cast. In terms of the acting I felt it was honestly really good all of the actors did a great job playing these roles in this film and while they haven't become the true voices of the characters there playing they have left an impression on me.

Doing the animation for the film is Tiger Animation don't worry if you haven't heard of them I haven't either and I can't find a single thing about them online so who knows what they've worked on in the past. As for what I thought about the animation in the film it was pretty good but at the same time the CGI that they use in the film looks pretty bad when you compare it to the 2D animation that's in the rest of the film.

Now i'm trying not to give away any spoilers here because I really do think that this film is worth seeing because of how good it is but I do feel that like Avengers: Endgame this story should have been told over two films. Simply because it would allow things to move at a more natural pace and it would allow the more emotional moments to actually be emotional and thus have some weight to them.

Even when I was watching the film I came up with a rough outline for both of the films which is the first film would deal with Darkseid attacking earth and the Justice League face him and win but at a cost what that cost is I don't know but I would also have the opening of this film included which i'm not going to say why but when you see the film you'll understand. This would then lead into this film with it playing out pretty much the same way but now because we've had that extra time we now know how much of a threat Darkseid can be.

Now again i'm not going to say how but this film does tie into Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox in a way that really doesn't make sense when you stop and think about it. However it does make for a pretty sweet and I guess shocking ending so it kind of works but I still would have liked it more if the way they tied it in actually made some sort of sense instead of just being thrown in for the sake of it.

From what I can gather this film is meant to be the end of at least this part of the animated movie lineup but I can't say for sure if that's going to be the case. I say that because unlike Avengers: Endgame where it actually felt like a finale and wrapped up several plotlines this film did neither of those and so it feels like it's just another movie and that this version of the animated universe will continue.

Now then superhero fans this is of course an action film and so that does mean that we have to talk about the action that's in the film itself. Which I honestly feel to be really cool and really exciting there was alot of times during the action where I went "oh that's cool" which is something that I never do and it helps that we get to see alot of the powers that these heroes have and how good of a fighter the hero with non powers are.

Overall this was honestly a good film and if you have the chance to get it digitally then I highly recommend it just due to how good of a film that it is. That being said however there are alot of faults with the film alot of which i've tried to cover in this review without giving away any kind of spoiler as such the film gets a 7out of 10 from me and if you want the film it's out now on Digital relese and is out on DVD and blu-ray on May 19th.

Batman: Bad Blood Review

Batman fans for as long as the character of Batman has been popular he's been appearing in most forms of animation be it movies or TV shows. However in recent years it seems like Batman is the go to character for DC Animated Movies with the character appearing in more and more of them be it as a side character or as a main character and so here is my review of

 2016's "Batman: Bad Blood" enjoy.

The plot of the movie is two weeks after Batman disappears The League of Shadows are trying to create the perfect solider while also trying to brainwash people starting with Bruce Wayne and so it's up to Robin , Nightwing , Batwoman and new hero Batwing to stop them and find Bruce Wayne before it's to late. As for what I thought about the story it was honestly really good and it's not something that i've not before with the idea of what would happen if Bruce Wayne was kidnapped and then brainwashed being a generally good idea it's just a shame tho that the film doesn't go all the way with that idea which is something that I will talk more about later on in the review.

Reprising their roles from previous the previous DC Animated Movie Universe films are Jason O'Mara as Bruce Wayne / Batman , Stuart Allan as Damian Wayne / Robin , Sean Maher as Dick Grayson / Nightwing and Morena Baccarin as Talia Al Ghul. Joining them are Gaius Charles as Luke Fox / Batwing , Yvonne Strahovski as Kate Kane / Batwoman , Geoff Pierson as Colonel Jacob Kane , Ernie Hudson as Lucius Fox , Travis Willingham as The Heretic and James Garrett as Alfred Pennyworth.

Now then as for what I thought about the acting in the film given that pretty much all of these actors aren't voice actors at all they do a pretty solid job in this movie. Alot of these actors have been playing these roles for close to six years as of this writing and up to two years when this film came out so they would have an idea of what type of performance to give and in my opinion they make the right choices and thus give solid performances , altho I will admit that Yvonne Strahovski didn't really impress me as Batwoman but hey she's doing a better job then Ruby Rose is so there's that at least.

Doing the animation for the film is The Answer Studio who as far as I can tell have mostly worked on anime with the only American productions that I found being two separate Transformers series. I will say that the anime influence can be seen in this film now that I think about it with alot of the fight scenes visually looking like something that you would see in an anime and with that being said the animation quality is pretty high with alot of care being put into each and every frame.

This is the third film in the DC Animated Movie Universe otherwise known as the DCAMU for short. This is a kind of spin off line of films separate from the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line of films since films set in the DCAMU are all connected where as all of the other films effectively sit in there own universe with each film occupying it's own world with it's own set of rules and continuity.

Now I hate to bring up the Marvel Cinematic Universe on a DC related post but I really do feel that Marvel Studios has done a better job of creating a cinematic universe then DC has. Now don't get me wrong when it comes to creating a universe in animated form DC has done a really good job the problem is tho none of the stories set up in the films and so none of them feel like they are set in a universe which trust me is a huge issue when it comes to things like character development and characters arc , look at example Tony Stark in the first Iron Man film the character we meet in that film is alot different from the one we see at the end of Avengers: Endgame now let's take a look at Batman the character we see in Justice League War is the same one that we meet in this film with only very mild character development given to him in this film with his latest film Batman: Hush offering none whatsoever.

That is a huge issue because when your starting a cinematic universe your expecting your viewer to invest years of their lives into these characters and they can't do that if there's very little to no character development. Otherwise what's the point in starting a cinematic universe other then to be hip and trendy since apparently every film studio needs to have there own cinematic universe now. Also not helping matters is the fact that these films really aren't telling a story that's spanning these films again look at the MCU they started a story in Iron Man it took them over ten years spanning twenty two films in order to fully tell it here there's no story being told and so why should we invest our time and energy into these films which yes are still good films and I will still get the latest one because of that fact but still if your going to start a cinematic universe then you need to give me a reason to care about this universe.

This film sees the debut of Kate Kane as played by Yvonne Strahovski into the DCAMU which if you recall stands for DC Animated Movie Universe. I have to say that I like this version of her more then I do the version that's currently on The CW and granted i've not seen much of the live action show but i've seen enough to form an opinion on it but getting back to this version of the character tho this version of Kate is a tortured soul much like how she is in the live action but unlike that show she also hides her pain sort of in a way like Bruce would whenever he meets someone new in his live which I thought to be rather interesting.

This film is only an hour and twelve minuets long which does actually feel about the right length if i'm being honest. Simply because there's not much there in terms of story and you this film isn't one that you can get up to ninety minuets at most you'd be able to get it up to an hour and twenty and that's if you include Batwoman's backstory but there would be no way in hell you could get it any longer then that without the film feeling bloated.

Now then boys and girls this is an action film and so that does mean that we have to talk about the action that's in the film. Like I said this is where the film in my opinion becomes inspired by anime since like in an anime fight the fight scenes in this film leap f the screen and like in an anime there are alot of crazy moves and alot of camera moves done and I hope that more DC direct to DVD animated films take on an anime inspired style.

Overall this is an entertaining film and if that's all your looking for then your going to walk away happy. Now with that being said if your looking for a film that gives you heaps of character and character development then outside of one scene with Batman then your going to walk away very disappointed since the film has very little of that in it with the focus being more on the action then on the characters as such this film gets a 6.5 out of 10 from me.
