Scooby-Doo! Ghastly Goals Film Review

When people think of Scooby-Doo media nine times out of ten they'll be thinking about either the TV shows or the movies. Yet very rarely if ever do they think about the direct to DVD  animated specials that the franchise and given that a major football tournament is pretty much about to start this seems like an oddly fitting tie in review to do and so then join me as I review the film that sees Scooby and the gang go to Brazil with the film in question being called simply just "Scooby-Doo! Ghastly Goals" enjoy.

The plot of this film is Scooby and the gang travel to Brazil for a holiday where they discover a creature is haunting big football tournament. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that;s actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that ad as the plot was the kind of plot that you'd expect to find in an episode of any Scooby-Doo show and yet at the exact time it was different enough for it to justify being a special episode of the show and while the plot of this film is really nothing all that special as it is really straight forward it's also not the worst plot that thus special could have had either as on paper this films plot sounds really bad and yet it's actually a really enjoyable plot with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo , Fred Jones and Eshu and Matthew Lillard as Norville "Shaggy" Rogers. Also starring in this film is Mindy Cohn as Velma Dinkley , Grey DeLisle as Daphne Blake , Carlos Alazraqui as A Brazilian Player , Gabriel Iglesias as Professor Eduardo Perez , Andrew Kishino as A Security Guard , Christian Lanz as A Cart Owner , Mina Olivera as Dr. Marla Riganto , Rob Paulsen as Julio Luna and Danny Trejo as Reynaldo.

Now then interms of what I personally thought  felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of the cast members that you expect to deliver a good performance really giving us exactly that but that's also the problem as we know what kind of performance that these actors and yet they give us exactly that and nothing new which is something that is fine for this property as these are legacy characters after all but at the same time there still needs to be some change to the performance to make each output feel alot more different from the one that came before and yet with this film just all we're getting is the kind performances that we know and expect from this cast ad that's really it with the acting in this film not really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so bad as it gives none of the films cast absolutely nothing to work interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does bring down the overall quality of the acting that's in this film.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Dongwoo A&E Co., LTD. Now then interms of what I personally thought /felt about thew actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as the animation was alot better then the animation that you'd think it would be getting as this films animation is more then worthy of being in a direct to DVD animated film and is quite easily better then the animation that we got in alot of the TV shows as well and while yes the animation in this film could have been alot better considering that this special was made for a compilation DVD and the fact that alot of Scooby-Doo films don't typically have great animation in them this films animation did turn out alot better then what it really had any to be with all of the characters having some really nice and fluid movements to them as well.

As a mystery this film isn't that good as the mystery itself isn't all that good as one of the main suspects isn't introduced until deep into the third act of the story. Which is far to late to be introducing potential suspects as those are things that should have been done by the mid way point of this special as that then allows for us the audience to gather enough clues to determine if they are the main villain or not and yet this film doesn't do that as the main suspect doesn't get introduced until the film is nearly over by which point it's far to late to be having a character that's this important to the plot of the film being introduced this is not to mention the fact that the film doesn't even give you clues as to who is behind the mask of the main villain with it being pulled out of nowhere which is a sure fire sign that the mystery itself is plain old bad when this something that if it had a bit more effort put into it wouldn't be the case as the bases for a good mystery are there with even the villain and the villain's costume having some really good and creepy designs to them.

This is a story that really should have been the story for a Scooby-Doo movie as the potential is there for this films plot to be a really good plot. Heck the plot of the film itself also oddly feels like it was made for a movie and as a result of that is the fact that it feels odd that the makers of this chose to make this a direct to DVD special when they very easily could have gotten this films story up to feature length just by expanding upon the story and giving us alot more suspects and that's really all they'd have to do and yet they chose not to do that and as a result of that is the fact that this special comes across as being really half baked as alot of what it sets up just doesn't add up to anything and is there just for the sake of being there which makes the whole special feel alot less special where as if this was the plot to a Scooby-Doo movie they could have gone to those weird ad crazy places that the Scooby-Doo direct to DVD movies tend to go to and the movie itself would come across as being alot more fun to watch because of it.

In what was a rather nice bit of character consistency this film does carry on the tradition of Daphne falling in love with anyone to do with sports. Which was a nice surprise and it was a nice bit of attention to detail that the makers of this film really didn't need to include in this film and even tho it doesn't have a pay off in this film it was something that was great to see in this film as it does add a bit of humor between Fred and Daphne with Daphne being in love with quite literally every single football player that she sees and Fred just getting more and more annoyed which is something that could have had a really funny pay off and yet for some reason the makers of this film just drop that running joke without paying it off which makes you wonder why it was even included in the first place as it's something that really does come across being nothing more then filler when the film itself really doesn't need filler as that is a joke that could have led to a really funny payoff near the films climax which would have brought back in a way that felt natural and organic.

Now then this film has / had an exact grad total running time of exactly twenty two minuets and thirty three seconds. Which is a solid running time for this film to have as the film does more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time and yet at the same time tho this film really could have done with being a bit longer as that would allow the story to become more fleshed out and it would also allow the film to develop it's mystery angle alot more then what it is in the final cut of the film and as a result of that is the fact that the film would come across as being alot more better then what it is because as it is right now the mystery angle isn't as fully developed as it really should have been and the films new characters aren't as fully developed as they really should have been either with them not even being that memorable all of which are things that would be fixed if the film was given a feature length running time but i will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is comedy film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However that's also the problem as the comedy that's in this film wasn't all that good either as the jokes that we get in this film feel oddly watered down jokes then the ones that we would get in both the various Scooby-Doo TV shows and in the various Scooby-Doo direct to DVD animated movies with the jokes in this film coming across as the writer of this film trying to come up with something funny without realising that they already had something that was really funny with Fred and Daphne that they just drop with the films only running joke being not that funny and yet they for some strange reason decide to carry on the joke in question with the joke being that whenever someone pronounces the monsters name Eshu someone says gazuntite which just really isn't all that funny in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a solid special but it's one that's rather limited by it's very small running time as it had all of the potential to be a good feature length movie and yet due to it's really small running time the film can't reach it's full potential and it really does suffer because of that fact in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good ad as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Kaiju No. 8 TV Series "The Man Who Became A Kaiju" Dubbed Review

The Japanese and Kaiju are two words that just go together perfectly with the land of the rising sun having created several popular Kaiju in the past. However very few times have they created a Kaiju based anime and yet in the year of 2024 that's exactly what we got with an anime TV series being based around destroying kaiju still airing on TV screens across the glove and so then join me as I review the episode that is alot more comical then what it really should have been with the episode in question being called simply just "The Man Who Became A Kaiju" enjoy.

The plot of the episode is a disgruntled cleaner who has to clean up the city after every single Kaiju attack finds himself having to save the life of a new colleague when the two discover something that could change there very lives forever. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / resented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as the plot of the episode does a good job of setting up the tone and feel for the rest of the show whilst also not taking itself all that seriously but at the same time tho the plot of this episode wasn't as good as it really could have been as it's a plot that really is just wafer thin at best which does make sense as this is only the first of the episode but at the same time that's all the more reason to have a much more stronger debut plot as this is the first chance that people are getting to see your work with the plot plot of the episode also being really entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Starring in this episode is Adam McArthur as Reno Ichikawa , Nazeeh Tarsha as Kafka Hibino and Ben Stegmair as Iharu Furuhashi. Also starring in this episode is Katelyn Barr as Mina Ashiro , Nasim Benelkour as Hiroto Mori , Matthew Elkins as Ichitaka Mitsuike , Michael Stimac as Masahide "Toku" Tokuda and anime voice acting legend Attack On Titan , A Certain Magical Index and Blood-C star Alexis Tipton as Young Kafka.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As all of the dub actors really do turn in some really good performances in this episode with all of them really nailing there characters on the first go which is a very hard thing to do and yet this episodes cast seem to do perfectly with the acting in this episode really being helped by the fact that the shows cast are really well cast with all of them having voices that seem to fit there respective characters almost perfectly and while yes some better more established voiced might have done a better job in certain roles this voice cast on the other hand are mostly unknowns which makes it easier to buy into the characters with the acting in this episode really being helped by the fact that the script for the episode is just so good that all this episodes cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this episode.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Production I.G. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good which given who is doing the animation for this show and for this episode really isn't all that surprising as Production I.G do usually do some fantastic animation in all of there output and the same thing is true fo this film but on the flip side of that is that while the 2D animation does look it's the 3DCGI animation that does look a little off as the 3D animation looks like it came out of the nineties but while the episode wisely doesn't use CGI all that much when they do use it however it really does stand out because of how bad the CGI in this episode really is with the shows 2D animation looking alot better then the CGI animation that's in this episode.

As a kaiju show this episode does far really good as it it does show us alot of the damage that the kaiju can do. With us getting the chance to see something that we really haven't seen since the 1954 Kaiju movie Gojira and that's to show us how the normal everyday person is effected after a Kaiju attack as Kafka's whole job involves dealing with the mess that just one Kaiju attack does to the city and that does give the show a unique hook and while the episode does rather rightfully go into alot of detail as to how that works what it doesn't show us is how people go back to work the day after a monster attack as that is something that would affect alot of people and it doesn't really get the chance to show us how the people of this unnamed city have adapted to having monster attacks happen fr years at this point and as a result of that is that while the show does have a unique idea and a unique hook to it the world that the show takes place in does feel rather undercooked but this is understandable as this is only the shows first episode but it is something that is still an issue tho.

This show is alot more comedic then what it really should as while yes this show is comedy and the comedy in this episode is really good. They also make jokes at times when they really shouldn't do which is something that does undercut the tension of the scene not to mention the fact that when you think of a show about Kaiju you don't usually think of something that's a comedy and in that regard the show does stand out as this is something that you wouldn't expect a Kaiju show or movie to be and yet it's something that doesn't really work for this show nor this sub-genre as when your in a Kaiju show you should be treating it as if it's happening in real life and acting as if it's happening to you in real life and while yes alot of the Godzilla movies do have jokes in them there not that often and most certainly not as often as they happen in this episode however with that being said the comedy in this episode does break the tension alot of the time and when we do get a good joke it can be really but we also get alot of painfully unfunny jokes with one of those being not one but two fart jokes both of which are painfully unfunny and really aren't needed in this episode. 

This episode does spend alot of time with Kafka which again does make alot of sense as he's the shows main character but at the same timer tho by doing that it also means that none of the shows main characters can get time to show us some of there personality. Like with Reno for example even tho he does get alot of screen time in this episode we don't get a chance to get an idea of what it is that his personality is even meant to be in the first and it's the same thing with Mina Ashiro as even tho we get to see both her Kafka as childhood best friends she doesn't get alot of screen time in this episode and thus really doesn't get the chance to show us what her personality is and while that might not be the case in the manga it is something that happens in the anime as the anime is more focused on setting up Kafka which does make sense but it's done by taking screen time away from the other main characters when the episode should have been setting up all three main characters and setting up there goals for the series ad yet this episode really doesn't do that in any way whatsoever.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty three minuets and forty seconds. Which is both the perfect running time for this episode to have and yet at the exact same time it's also oddly short for what this episode really should have been as the episode really does have more then enough plot to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time this episode really should have been a little longer as by giving the episode a slightly longer running time it would allow more of the shows main characters to get more of what it is that there personalities are meant to be and it would allow for us the audience to see just how this world works not only during a Kaiju attack but also after a giant Kaiju has already attacked the city as that is something that wouldn't effect the plot of the episode and it's something that would add to the overall worldbuilding of the show itself and would thus make the show itself seem better but I will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that means that I gave to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. However that's also the problem as the action that's un this episode also isn't all that good either as the episode puts alot more focus into giving us some decent comedy that it does into giving us some really creative looking action scenes when the balance should be more fifty fifty and not forty sixty like it is in this very episode and while yes we do get to see some really very good action scenes and some really cool moments in those action scenes alot of the action in this episode just feels really very flat and boring with nothing all that much exciting actually happening in this episode action wise outside of one or two moments which really isn't enough as the action should be on par and treated equally with the comedy with not one of them being treated better then the other one in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this show does have the potential to be a really good show which might happen in the shows following two episodes this first episode really isn't the best episode to really start this show of on as it really doesn't give you a reason to really tune in and watch episode two of this show in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very show and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10m from me.

My SPOILER FILLED First Impressions Of The The Acolyte TV Series

Star Wars media recently has only that universe from just after the fall of the Empire with it very rarely going to an earlier point in the StarWars timeline. Well now we have a new Star Wars live action TV show that actually takes us to that universes earliest point on screen and well you all just knew that I had to check this show the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED first impressions of the show that takes us back to the earliest point in the Star Wars universe on screen with the TV show in question being called simply just "The Acolyte" enjoy.

The plot of these first two episodes is a series of sinister crimes force a bunch of Jedi to go looking for the culprit and stop them before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / resented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty not really that bad as it was alot better then what it really had any right to be but at the same time tho the plot in these episodes was also really wafer thin that at times it really was hard to work out what the plot of these first episodes was really meant to be in the first place as the plot really just comes and goes whenever it really pleases and when it's there and focused on it really just doesn't keep your interest for longer then a few minuets and best with the plot of these episodes not really being really rather entertaining nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in these episodes is Lee Jung-jae as Master Sol , Rebecca Henderson as Vernestra Rwoh and Amandla Stenberg as Osha Aniseya and Mae Aniseya. Also starring in these episodes is Logan star Dafne Keen as Jecki Lon , Charlie Barnett as Yord Fandar , Anthony J. Abraham as Fillik , Thara Schöön as Tasi Lowa , Manny Jacinto as Qimir , Joonas Suotamo as Kelnacca and Games Of Thrones star Dean-Charles Chapman as Torbin.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty not that bad. However at the same time tho the acting that's in these first two episodes wasn't all that good either as while alot of the cast are quite clearly trying to turn in a good performance it's clear as day that the episodes director and the shows showrunner and the writer of the first episode Leslye Headland really doesn't know how to direct her cast and has no idea how to get a good performance out of her cast with it being clear as day that while the actors aren't miscast there just lost on what to do acting wise with the acting in these episodes really not being helped by the fact that the scripts for these first two episodes is really bad as it gives none of the episodes cast absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does bring down the overall quality in these episodes.

Doing the CGI for these episodes is Clear Angle Studios , Hybride , Industrial Light & Magic , Luma Pictures , Outpost VFX , Proof , Rising Sun Pictures and beloFX. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty not that bad but at the exact same time tho alot of the CGI in these first episodes just looked really bad as alot of the time it looks like a late Playstation 3 cutscene and not something that you'd expect to see in a TV show that has a budget of $180 million dollars and while yes these two episodes do have some good looking CGI effects in them they have alot more bad looking effects in them with both of the episodes having alot more bad looking effects that they do have good looking effects in them with this being made all the more worse when you look at the effects companies that are providing the CGI for these two episodes as we all know that these effects can and have done better effects in other movies and quite frankly better TV shows.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!

There was one name that was left of the cast list in this post and that's Carrie-Anne Moss as Indara not because she's bad in the episodes. Rather it's because she's killed of within the first five minuets of the shows first episode and yet as you can see by the above poster she's front and centre on the poste which would make you believe that she's going to be a main character and yet for some strange reason the makers of this show thought that it was a good idea to kill of one of the best actresses in this show all because of the fact that they wanted to defy our expectations and yet it doesn't work as within the short amount of tie that Indara appears in episode one she is already more likeable the alot of the other main hero characters which just makes her appearance in this show feel like a waste of Carrie-Anne Moss and heck even the fourth Matrix movie gave her more to do and she's not in that movie all that long either and yet in that movie she gets more to do then what she does in the first five minuets of this shows first episode.

When your in the build up to the realise of your show then one thing that you don't want to do is make the people that you should be trying to win over angry and that's the very thing that this shows showrunner , creator , writer , executive producer and director Leslye Headland did. As a few short days she did an article with The New York Times with Kathleen Kennedy where she strongly implied that if you don't like this show then she doesn't consider you to be a true Star Wars fan and not because of the fact that the show itself is a bad show this right here is just the latest example of the franchise blaming us the fans for not liking something that they've done and it's something that's got to stop as Disney are also doing it with Doctor Who and guess what people aren't watching it because there telling us not to watch it and that's exactly what there doing here and as a result of that is that we shouldn't be surprised when more articles come out about this show getting bad reviews and don't be surprised if it turns out that not alot of people watched the show in the first place with this just being the latest example of they should just stop talking and let people get excited tom watch there show and be allowed to form there own opinion of the show regardless of if you'd consider them to be a true fan or not.

One of the few things that these episodes get right is it does show the Star Wars universe at a point in time that really hasn't been seen outside of the comics and books. Which is great as it gives us a chance to see how the things that we loved to see in either the prequel or original trilogy came to be and while the show doesn't rightfully go that far with that idea in these first episodes it is still interesting to see a time period that we haven't seen before and it is a time period that's oddly done better in this show then The High Republic comics and books and it does give the chance to see what the Jedi were like when they were basically at there fall strength when compared to the original trilogy when they were all but gone and the prequel trilogy when they really didn't do all that much and yet here we do get to see them act like space police officers but at the same time it wold have been nice if we did get to sow the seeds for things that would go onto to become beloved things in either the prequel or original trilogy as it is something that would make sense to see in these first twp episodes of the show.

Now then episode one of this show has / had an exact grand total running tome of exactly forty minuets and forty seven seconds whilst episode two of this show has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly thirty six minuets and forty seconds. With both episodes having some solid running times but out of the two episodes it's episode one that has the better running time as even tho both episodes don't have alot of plot to justify there respective running times it's episode one that takes more advantage of it's running time by giving us moments that do give us a decent look at who these characters are as people and while episode two does come across as being a little bit more focused with it's running time it also doesn't allow scenes to breathe and just take there time and as a result of that is the fact that alot of the episodes don't feel earned as instead they come across as feeling rushed and while this could also be the case for episode one as well at least with that episode there's the excuse of trying to setup the plot of the show where as episode two really doesn't have that excuse going for it but I will admit that both of these episode do have some really good pacing to them tho.

So now then as this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in these very episodes was in all honesty not that bad. With thew action that we got in both of these episodes being the best part of both episodes as that's where we get to see just how awsome Carrie-Anne Moss is as even after all of these years after the first Matrix movie she can still more then hold her own in an action scene with her fight scene at the start of the first episode being the best action scene in both of these two episodes even as all it was was just people taking part in hand to hand combat but there's so much then that as we get to see her opponent Mae Aniseya try and in alot of cases fail to outsmart Indara until the very scene which is a great way of telling a story without stopping the action to do so in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this isn't the best start to this series it's not the worst start to it either as while these two episodes don't really give you a reason to watch the rest of this shows first season there really is plenty of potential there for this show to be a really good show not just a good Star Wars show but a good show in general in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as ll of the bad things that are in these very episode in this very post and since this is only my first impressions I won't be giving this show a rating however if this post does decently well and if you guys want me to check out another episode then I will do it and that post would then be a review of that episode and that episode only and not a review of the show as a whole.

Doctor Who: The Daleks In Colour Review

Doctor Who is a show that's been around for decades at this point with the show having not only a truly iconic hero but having equally iconic villains. With the most iconic villains without a shadow of a doubt being the daleks and as a result of that is the fact that it really wasn't all that surprising that in the lead up to the shows sixtieth anniversary it was announced that the very first dalek story would be colourized for the technically the second time with this new version version also being cut down to seventy five minuets and featuring a new score and many more changes and so then join me as I review the episode that introduced the world to the most iconic villains in Doctor Who history with the episode in question being called imply just "The Daleks In Colour" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is The Doctor , Ian , Barbera and Susan find themselves trapped on a planet and have to find to fend of the planets evil inhabitants whilst helping the only good people on the planet win a civil war. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually feature / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good which really isn't all that surprising as this is the exact same plot as the original unedited version of the episode in question with this cut of the episode not really making any edits that are harmful to the plot of this episode as instead the edits are made to cut out scenes that bog the plot of the episode down alot all of which make this episodes version of the plot alot more snappier but on the down side of that is the fact that the episodes plot isn't really given the time that it needs to breathe as it's just rushing to get to the next plot point with the the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is William Hartnell as The Doctor , William Russell as Ian Chesterton and Jacqueline Hill as Barbara Wright. Also starring in this episode is Carole Ann Ford as Susan Foreman , Alan Wheatley as Temmosus , John Lee as Alydon , Virginia Wetherell as Dyoni , Philip Bond as Ganatus , Marcus Hammond as Antodus , Gerald Curtis as Elyon , Jonathon Crane as Kristas , Nicholas Briggs as The Voice Of The Daleks , David Graham as The Voice Of The Daleks and Peter Hawkins as The Voice Of The Daleks.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Which is to be expected given who is starring in this episode and the fact that these actors are so well known for playing these characters and even tho this episode was originally the second ever serial for the show it's quite clear to see that alot of these actors have at least started to get there characters down perfectly with even both David Graham and Peter Hawkins turning in some truly memorable performances as the daleks with the same thing also being said for Nicholas Briggs who gives the titular villains some new pieces of dialog and who manages to sound Peter Hawkins whilst also still being very him with the acting in this episode also being helped by the fact that the script for this episode is just so good that all this episodes cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this episode.

As was mentioned at the very start of this review this is technically the second time that this story has been colourized. With this episode quite clearly taking inspiration from the film Dr. Who And The Daleks when it comes to the episodes color as alot of the colours in this episode are very bright colours which wouldn't seem out of place in that film but they really do seem out of really place in this episode as this episode is a very dark episode and the colors should represent that as instead of having alot of greens and purples for the forest the colors there should be very muted like for example very dark greens and browns for the trees and other such thing and when it comes to the dalek headquarters you really want very metallic colors no or really limited blues , reds and yellows as instead you want grey for the walls and mainly either lighter or dark shades of grey and maybe some cool blues as these are colors that really would best fit the dalek city as it's a robotic city and the colors really should reflect that and yet because the colors used for both the forest and the dalek city don't best really reflect there location they instead come across as being done by a group of people who don't really care about the story or care about the world of Doctor Who. 

This version of the episode did make some edits to the original episode apart from adding color to the episode. As we have a new score and sound mix by composer Mark Ayres with returning Doctor Who composer Murray Gold doing the episodes ending theme and we also have new lines of dalek dialog from original actor David Graham and Nicholas Briggs has also been added to the dalek voice cast as well however these aren't the only changes as we have new effects added to the episode with there being some CGI added to the dalek city which does look decent for what would have been done on a small budget but at the same time it does seem out of place when compared to the originals timeless model effects and we do also have updated effects on the dalek gun with the effect now looking more look it did back in 2005 rather then it did in 1963 which is a bad change as it takes away that effect looked which was dated but at the same time it was also the only way that such an effect could have been back in the sixties and to remove that effect is to remove a piece of TV history.

What was really annoying about this episode was the fact that they keep of showing us things that have just happened. Which does come across as the makers of this version of the episode not really trusting it's audience to remember things like Susan picking up the stuff that would help them and putting it in the TARDIS this is despite the fact that that scene had only just happened five minuets and alot of the episode is like that when it really didn't need to be as the people who would be watching this episode are people who would have seen the episode several times by now or have good enough memories to remember something that happened a few short minuets ago and what makes this even more annoying is the fact that the scenes in question don't add anything new to the story and are really there just to remind us of something that we already really knew had happened anyway and as a result of that is the fact that those scenes really do feel alot like padding it which if that was the case then why not just make the episode longer or just colorise all seven episodes and release them as one lone two and half hour to three cut of the episode.

This cut of the episode really does get alot of credit for making certain bits of the story flow alot better then what they did in the original episode. Like for example the bit in the caves and the lead up to the caves is pretty much all but gone in it's entirety minuets a few scant scenes here and there but as that portion of the original episode was the most boring part of the original episode in the first place the fact that this episode removed them and only kept what was key to advancing the overall plot of the episode does make things flow alot more better and it makes that part of the episode alot more entertaining to watch but at the same time tho there are cuts made to the episode that do harm the episode like the fact that we loose the scene near the start of the episode where Ian and Barbera decide that they need to stick close to The Doctor and the fact that we don't get see what it is that scares Susan in the forest and have all of her friends disbelieve her something which does prove to be right as there was someone watching them and yet for some odd reason it's cut from this episode when it's something that really should have been left in this cut of the episode.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifteen minuets and eighteen seconds. Which does make this cut of the episode alot more easier to watch just due to the fact that it does have a shorter running time but at the same time tho this episode really does have alot of plot to really cover alot longer then that something which is where the original almost three hour cut of the original episode would come in handy as that cut of the episode takes it's time alot more and allows the plot to develop at a more natural pace and because of that we really do get some really nice character driven moments something which is forced to be lost in this episode as this episode has to really rush along to bet to the next plot point instead of just really taking the time needed to build up tension and to develop it's character something which really is key to make this story work even more then it already does but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an actin show that really does mean that I have to actually talk bout the actual actin that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty. With the action oddly being enhanced due to the episodes more faster editing pace which is something that does make the action in this episode alot more exciting then what it is was in both Dr Who And The daleks and the original episode with the best example of this being in the episodes third act where the action scene near the end of the episode really does come alive thanks to not only how fun and really creative and it was in the original episode but really also due to the fact that the editing in this cut of the episode made it feel alot more exciting and while the action in the original cut of episode was also really good they were very limited in what they could do something which just isn't true with this cut of the episode and because of that fact that while yes the action in the original episode was also really good here due to the fact that the episode cuts out alot of fat in the third act the action in this cut of the episode feels alot more snappier in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this is a really great way for people to watch this truly iconic episode nothing will ever top watching the original version of the episode as there's alot of stuff cut out of this cut of the episode that really do add to the actual plot of the episode and because of that really make the original cut of the episode the more better and a really more complete cut of the episode to watch in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad thigs that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Postman Pat: Postman Pat's Finding Day Review

We all have those cartoon characters that we all grew up watching when we were just little kids be they Thomas The Tank Engine or whatever. They were always the characters that we would grow up watching and eventually grow out of due to the fact that they were made with much more smaller kids in mind as is the case with the episode that i'm about to review for you all today and so then join me as I review the episode that really does try to make being a postman cool with the episode in question being called simply just "Postman Pat's Finding Day" Enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when on his round Pat discovers that a child's doll is missing and so goes about the rest of the day trying to find the doll and return it to it's rightful owner. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty simple and that's the best word to describe this episodes plot as it doesn't need to be a super complicated plot it's just needs to be simple and because of that it means that the characters can shine through and really carry the episode and while the plot of the episode is rather on thin side of things it really doesn't need to be a strong plot it just needs to give you the basic premise and that's really it and that's something that the plot of this episode does rather wonderfully with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is the shows only actor Ken Barrie who also serves as the shows main narrator as well. Having one actor do all pf the voices for the show is something that alot of animated shows that are made for very little kids did quite alot with it not really being something that works for this episode as alot of Ken's voices do sound the same and as a result of that is the fact that it's hard to tell from time to time who it is that's speaking alot of the time this is despite the fact that he can do some accents and does give the characters some rather distinct voices like Ted for example has a rather thick Yorkshire accent and Pat has more of a soft northern accent and as such when those two are talking you can tell who it is that's talking but he also gives one of the characters the exact same accent as Pat and doesn't change his vocal range and so it does get confusing trying to work out who is talking but when he does do a good voice it is something that really stand out with his narrator voice being very soothing and very easy to listen to as well as being a very calming voice which is something that really does work well for this show.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. As there's only one actor in this show at this point in time of course the standout performer in this episode is Ken Barrie as he really is the definitive voice of Pat with his performance being the kind of performance that you'd want to give in an episode like this one as it was calming enough to ease you into the episodes plot but is also joyful that when something funny does happen it can be a really funny joke with Ken really carrying this whole entire episode on his back and because of the fact that he's the only actor in this episode he really get alot of chances to shone as he does give some of the characters some really distinctive voices which at times does make them standout from one another with the acting in this episode really being helped by the fact that the script for this episode is just so good that all the actors in this episode have to do is just the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help the overall quality of the acting that's in this episode.

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Woodland Animations. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As the animation in this episode is alto better then what it really had any right to be as animation in shows from the eighties very rarely if ever age that well and yet that's exactly the case with the animation in this very episode as while the animation does look pretty dated at parts that's more due to the fact that it's using very early stop motion animation and it's not due to the overall quality of the animation with there being alot of smooth movements in this episode and as a result of that is the fact that the characters do also have some fairly smooth looking movements or as smooth as you can get with stop motion animation.

The best word that can be used to describe not only this show but this episode is nice as that's exactly what this episode is. It's nice with everything about this episode being very cozy and being the kind of episode that you wouldn't mind leaving on for your little kids or relatives to watch as it's not going to harm them in anyway whatsoever with the episode itself being a very cozy show that is very calming with even the shows character even helping to sell the fact that this is a nice episode as even tho there very cookie cutter characters that are given very little interms of personality for a show that's made for very little kids that's not only expected but it's also what you want as well as there meant to give them an idealised look at the world outside and that means simplifying the characters down to there most basic personalities and while yes the episode would have been better of if the characters did get the chance to show of alot of there personalities that would mean redeveloping the show as Pat himself doesn't spend alot of time interacting with the other characters in this episode and would therefor not have the chance to show us what his personality is.

If there's one thing that the episode gets wrong it's that all of the characters do come across as being very one dimensional. While that does make sense as Pat doesn't get to spend alot of time with the other characters and as a result of that both Pat and the other characters wouldn't get alot of time to fully get across what there personalities are in the first place there are some characters that do get alot more screen time then others and even those characters aren't given the chance to become more developed then what they are with us the audience not really being given the chance to find out alot about these characters like for example we spent alot of time Dorothy Thompson and yet we know nothing about her character other then the fact that she's a housewife and that's really it and we spend alot of time with Ted and we don't really get to find alot about him other then the fact that he's the village handyman and nothing more then not and yet the makers of this episode had the chance to develop both of those characters and yet they didn't which does make sense as the show is about Pat but you still need to make the side characters just as developed as the main character in order to make the main character more interesting. 

For some reason alot of British kids animated shows chose to make shows where the main character has the most dull job. As apart from Fireman Sam we had Thomas The Tank Engine a show about trains just working there day to day jobs and we had Postman Pat a show about a postman just going on his daily route to drop of letters and parcels and other such things and that's really it and on paper that shouldn't make a good show and yet as we can see in this episode it oddly makes for a good set up as it keeps the show grounded in some sort of realism as well as giving the shows target audience a chance to see what it is that people do for a job with the hopes that it might possibly inspire some of them to become a postman in the future but with all that being said a character who's main job is a post and where the plot of the show is him going on his daily route to do his job doesn't sound like it's that interesting of that show and as a result of that is the fact that the show and this episode would come across as being dull and really boring to some people.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grad total running time of exactly fourteen minuets and fifty five seconds. Which is the absolutely perfect running time for this episode to last as the episode really doesn't have alot there interms of plot to really cover anything longer then that and while it would have been nice if this episode had a longer running time to fully develop some of it' characters a bit more it would come at the expense of stretching the plot of the episode even thinner then what it already is as this plot doesn't need to be a super complicated plot and the episode itself doesn't need to be that long in order to tell it's story and tell it well it just needs to be a good fifteen minuets long and that's really it and that's something that this episode does really well as it does allow the character to just be themselves but at the same time it would be nice if this episode was a little bit longer just because this was a really nice episode that didn't need to be that long to be as enjoyable as it ended up being but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well the in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As while alot of this episodes jokes aren't laugh lot loud funny the jokes that this episodes does have are cute jokes that are almost guaranteed to put a smile on either grown up faces or more importantly kids faces r perhaps maybe even both kids and adults faces with it being funny just seeing all of the cute and funny things that they do Jess as while they don't go over the top with what they do with Jess like they do in Postman Pat: The Movie here in this episode the most that they do is have Jess hang of the van's window as Pat opens the door to get in and that's really it and that's just a cute joke which is the type of joke that really does work for this episode and for this franchise in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. 

Overall this was a really nice episode and was a great way to start of this really iconic and under loved show really was and that it really does deserve alot more love just due to charming the show can be when it's at it's best with the episode being a good example of just how nice that this show can be something that the movie just wasn't in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in his very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.
