My SPOILER FILLED First Impressions Of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

 

Marvel fans exactly two weeks after the fantastic finale to the just as equally fantastic show that had us all hooked from episode one all the way up until episode with the show itself of course being called simply Wandavision well now Marvel / Marvel studios is back with another new TV show that is set in the world of the marvel Cinematic Universe. I will admit that I wasn't as hyped for this show as I was hyped for Wandavision but alot of that comes down to the fact that both Disney and Marvel left it until last possible second to really start promoting this show when honestly they should have been promoting this show during Wandavision which would have gotten more people hyped for this show simply due to the fact that alot of people were talking about Wandavision and as such having trailers and posters for this show come out Wandavision would have made sense but anyways the show is here now and so here are my first impressions of the show that is called simply "The Falcon And The Winter Soldier" enjoy and yes there might be some spoilers ahead.

The plot of this particular episode is Sam Wilson is still fighting bad guys as The Falcon when he decides to visit his family and help with the family business of selling fish all the meanwhile Bucky Barnes is in therapy for h8s action as The Winter Solider when he comes across an unexpected face from his past. I will admit that this episode doesn't really tell you what the plot of this show is which is why i've just the plot summery for this episode instead and in terms of what I thought about the plot for this episode in all honesty the plot of this episode was really good since this episode does a good job of catching us up on what both Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes have been up to since Avengers: Endgame and it's done in a way that doesn't grind the episode to halt and is instead done in a way that feels very naturel and organic in my opinion.

Starring in this episode and the rest of the series is of course Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon and as the winter soldier himself we have the great and super talented Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier. Also starring in this episode and in some cases the rest of this series is Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent , Erin Kellyman as Karli Morgenthau / Flag Smasher and Adepero Oduye as Sarah Wilson.

In terms of what I thought about the acting that's presented to us in this debut episode in all honesty I thought that the acting that's presented to us in this debut episode was in all honesty really freaking good and i'm not just saying that because I like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I'm saying it because it's honestly true all of the actors that appear in this episode give us some really good performances in my opinion and that just doesn't apply to the old / returning actors either it applies to the entire cast since every new character that's introduced in this episode at least is so well cast and because of the fact that all of the new characters give some really good performances as well but that's just what I think about the acting that's presented to us in this debuting / premier episode anyways.

Doing the CGI for this episode and I assume the rest of the series / show / season is Crafty Apes , The Third Floor , Trixter and the greats and the legends over at Weta Digital. In terms of what I thought about the CGI in this episode in all honesty the CGI that's in this episode really did blow me away simply because the CGI effects in this episode looked like that they belonged in a feature length film and not on a weekly TV show that's being made for a streaming service I only hope that this high level of CGI effects continues in this show show.

Now there is one name that I chose not to credit for starring in this episode simply because i wasn't quite sure if it was a spoiler or not and so I thought that I best play it safe credit this person in the spoiler section of this because yes also returning from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films is the great and super talented Don Cheadle as James Rhodes. I'm honestly not quite sure as to why they included Don Cheadle since it really doesn't make any kind of sense in the scene that he appears in but at the same it was still pretty freaking cool to see the character again in my opinion.

Please note I do not consider the images that I used when crediting some of this episodes cast as that images doesn't spoil anything from this episodes plot hence why there is no spoiler section at the start of this post. We do get to see what Sam Wilson's family life is like and that was perhaps the least interesting aspect of this particular episode for me personally just because it doesn't really tell us that much about Sam Wilson nor does it teach us / give us anything new about the character of Sam Wilson either in my opinion which is a shame because Sam Wilsons family does seem pretty interesting like for example his sister Sarah states that in the five years that Sam Wilson disappeared she had to not only raise to kids by her self but also look after the family business and as such she's become almost unable to accept help from others which honestly makes her a really interesting character in my humble and honest opinion.

Now even tho Sam's family life was the least interesting part of this episode for me personally what I found to be the most interesting part of this particular episode was Bucky going to therapy. I found that Bucky going to therapy to  be more interesting because to me it showed that even tho Bucky physical injuries have healed up he still suffering mentally from his time as The Winter Solider so much so that he I guess you could say either gets revenge on are get's payback on people that he helped while he was The Winter Soldier and hell we even get a kind if sad ending or possibly even shocking ending to Bucky's scenes in this episode when it turns out that one of his many innocent victims was the grandson of an old man that Bucky has not only been spending alot of time with but has also befriended and that made the Bucky scenes in this episode really interesting for me personally in my humble and honest opinion.

I honestly do hope that we get to see Bucky continue to go to therapy simply because it's a great way for us to connect with the character of Bucky Barnes on a whole different level. Since this is setting that we simply haven't been given the chance to see Bucky in and so it makes it interesting to see how Bucky would go about things in a therapists office much like how seeing Sam Wilson spending time with his family is a setting that we haven't seen the character of Sam Wilson in before now and heck before this show we never even knew that Sam Wilson even had a family but at the same time I would fully understand if after the second or even third episode of this if we never saw the therapist or the therapists office again or if we never saw Sam Wilsons family again since I do believe that this show is meant to be taking the characters to several countries and as such both the show really wouldn't have a way of keeping both the therapist and Sam Wilson's family around but I could very well be wrong but that's just what I think anyways.

Like I said at the start of this post this show could have used a bit more marketing just because there really was nothing for this show being released when Marvel Studios was all that everyone / anyone could talk about. As such I don't really think that people are that hyped for this show heck I don't even think that alot people even know about this show which is a huge shame because this first episode is in all honesty pretty or even really good in my opinion.

This particular episode has a total running time of forty seven minuets and fifteen seconds which I feel was a bit on the long side for this particular episode. Just because outside of the scenes with Bucky there was not alot that was in my opinion all that interesting but at the same time the episode had or does have more then enough story in this episode to cover that amount of running time in my humble and honest opinion.

Now then boys and girls this is an action show and there is some action in this episode which means that I have to talk about the action that's the actual episode itself and in my opinion the action that's in this particular episode is really good. There's technically two action scenes in this episode and in my opinion both of this episodes action scenes are really well done and both of this episodes action scenes are really fun to watch in my opinion.

Overall I will fully admit to being a little bit let down by this episode just because the first episode of Wandavision was so good but at the same time this episode is also enjoyable to watch as well and I can see myself watching every episode of this particular show. Now then since this is post is only my first impressions of the show but know that I have talked about both the good and the bad things that I found with this particular episode in this post and since this is only my first impressions of the show I won't be giving this show a rating just because it's only the first episode and as such it wouldn't be fair of me to judge an entire show just based of the first episode alone. Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone Dubbed Review

 

Anime fans it's been at least two weeks since we last spoke to each other and as such I thought I would review a movie that I honestly haven't reviewed before now and after seeing this film I don't think i'll be reviewing the movies in this on going franchise for reasons that i'll most likely get into later on in the review if I remember to that is. This is a film that along with it's first sequel I actually own on DVD and I think it was one of the first anime (be it an anime film or an anime TV show / series) that I bought on DVD but I could be wrong about that tho either way tho anime fans join me as I review the dubbed version of the film that is called simply "Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone" enjoy.

Now here I where I would normally tell you about the plot of the film and as well as give you my thoughts about the plot of the film however the makers of this film chose to do me favour and not give this film a plot. Which if i'm being honest this is the first issue that I personally had with the film since there's no story at all being told which means that there is no reason for me to care about any of the films characters and nor is there any reason for this films existence which is a shame because when this film wants to be good this film can be really good it just needed an actual story to help make those things that I thought were good in this film seem great but that's just what I think about this films lack of an actual story anyways.

As you can no doubt tell by the title of this post i'm doing this review based of the dubbed version of Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone and so starring in this film is Spike Spencer as Shinji Ikari and Allison Keith as Misato Katsuragi. Also starring in this dubbed version of the film is Colleen Clinkenbeard as Ritsuko Akagi , Greg Ayres as Kensuke Aida , Jerry Jewell as Kaworu Nagisa , John Swasey as Gendo Ikari , Justin Cook as Toji Suzuhara , Kent Williams as Kouzou Fuyutsuki , Monica Rial as Pen-Pen and Phil Parsons as Shigeru Aoba.

In terms of what I thought about the acting that's in this film in all honesty the acting that's in this film is in my opinion really good and I know that that might sound bias since the only version of this film that i've seen is the dubbed and as such these voices are the voices that spring to mind when I think of these characters. However that doesn't make it any less true since all of the actors that are in this film are really anime dub voice actors and due to how this film can at times balance something really dark and serious with something comedic , light hearted and goofy this is a great film to show what these actors can do in my opinion and because of that i feel that the acting in this film is in all honesty really freaking good in my opinion.

 

Doing the animation for this film is Khara and I think GAINAX but i'm not 100% certain about that tho. As for what I thought about the animation that's featured in this film in all honesty the animation that's featured in this film is alot better then what I remember it being simply because you cannot tell when this film was made since the animation is so good with all the characters having some really fluid movements that it honestly looks like that this film was made and released either last year or very early in my opinion.

Now then from what little research that I did about this film for this very review I found that this film is the start of a four film franchise which is being called simply the "Rebuild of Evangelion" which is meant to remake the anime TV Neon Genesis Evangelion but as a series of theatrically released feature length. While this is indeed a very good idea it does mean that all four of these films run the risk of becoming stale very quickly since the people who grew up watching Neon Genesis Evangelion will recognise certain plot points in possibly all four of these films and while I myself never grew up with Neon Genesis Evangelion I can see die hard fans of Neon Genesis Evangelion getting very bored with this remake film franchise very freaking quickly but that's just what I think anyways.

Perhaps the worst sin that this film commits in my opinion is the fact that in my personal opinion this film is pretty boring in my opinion. Since there's no story at all and as such it means that what should be an easy film to make not only really freaking cool but also really good is now just a boring mess of a film since the film give you no reason to like any of these characters and so your stuck watching a bunch of unlikable characters do things for no reason for an hour and thirty six minuets and that makes this film incredibly boring in my opinion.   

Look i'm just going to come right out and say this but in my opinion Shinji Ikari is a really freaking annoying as heck character in my opinion and I think this simply because he doesn't stop whining and complaining. I honestly think that at least eighty percent Shinji Ikaris dialog s him complaining about something heck he even complains when someone asks him to take a bath that's how much this kid must really like whining and complaining and guess what it doesn't make him an entertaining character it makes him an annoying character to watch and this shouldn't be the case because he's the freaking main hero of this film and yet he's the one character that I couldn't stand due to how annoying as heck he was and having you main hero be an annoying as heck character is never a good thing in my opinion since it puts your audience of not only watching more scenes with this character but it also puts your audience of wanting to know more about this character since n one / nobody wants to spend time or even get to know someone who they find to be really freaking annoying but that's just what I think anyways.

Now I cannot remember exactly what the exact running time for this film is but I do know that this film has a total funning time of at least one hour and thirty seven minuets and considering that I both watched and reviewed Zack Snyder's Justice League yesterday watching and reviewing a film that's this short was a good palate cleanser for me personally. However with that being said I d strongly feel that this film went on a bit to long simply because the film had no story to tell and so there was really no need to make this film be anywhere over or anywhere near an hour and a half and with the film being as long as it is but that's just what I think anyways.

Now then boys and girls this film is an action film after all and so that means that I have to talk about the action that's in the actual film itself and in my opinion the action's presented to us in this film in all honesty isn't that bad in my opinion. However the issue is that the action that's presented to us in this film isn't that good either which for an action film is not really good thing and not helping things is the fact that the action that's presented to us in this film is stuff that we've seen done better in other monster / action movies and so the action that's presented to us in this film isn't that creative either but I will fully admit that when the action wants to be good it can be really good but it's just a shame that the action for the most part at best OK and at it's worst boring and filled with stuff that we've seen in dozens of monster / action movies before but that's just what I think anyways.

Overall the worst thing that i can say about this or any film for that matter is that I found this film to be really boring. Yes there are a few good things in this film but for me those good things are vastly overshadowed as well as vastly outnumbered but all of the bad things that are in this film and since i've talked about both the good and the bad things that are in this film in this very review this film I give this film a 4.5 out of 10 from me , as for where I got the images that I used in this review well I got all of the images that I used in this review from either the official Dubbed fandom wiki page , the official Evangelion fandom wiki page or Google Images with oddly enough my preferred website to get images frim this film from being / is Google Images since unlike both the official Dubbing fandom wiki page and the official Evangelion fandom wiki page Google Images has a vast variety of images but I will admit that the images that I found about this film on the official Evangelion fandom wiki page are fairly / pretty high definition as well as fairly / pretty high quality so I say use whichever website that you personally want to use.

Doctor Who: The Three Doctors Review

 

Doctor Who fans it's been about almost three or possibly even four months since I last reviewed anything to do with Doctor Who and while yes I did say that I would review the recent New Year's special i've just not been bothered to even watch the recent New Year's special. As such for this review I thought that I would hop into my own TARDIS and review an episode from the classic era of Doctor Who and so join me as I review the Doctor Who tenth anniversary special / serial / story / episode that is called simple "The Three Doctors" enjoy.

The plot of this story / serial / episode / story is something is someone is seeking revenge on the time lords and the threat is so severe that it's up to the first three incarnations of The Doctor to put a stop to this threat once and for all. In terms of what I thought about the plot of this  serial / episode / story I honestly really did like the plot to this  serial / episode / story since it was a great way to honour the legacy of Doctor Who as well as a generally interesting story but I will admit that the story does gets a bit boring in episode three in my opinion tho that is.

Starring in this episode / story / serial is Jon Pertwee as The Third Doctor , William Hartnell as The First Doctor and Patrick Troughton as The Second Doctor. Also starring in this episode is Katy Manning as Jo Grant with other people starring in this episode being Nicholas Courtney as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart , John Levene as Sergeant Benton , Stephen Thorne as Omega , Roy Purcell as The Timelord President , Clyde Pollitt as The Timelord Chancellor , Graham Leaman as A Time Lord , Rex Robinson as Dr. Tyler , Laurie Webb as Mr. Ollis and Patricia Prior as Mrs. Ollis.

In terms of what I thought about the acting that's presented to us in this serial / episode / story in al honesty I thought that the acting that's presented to us in this serial / episode / story was in honesty really good and alot of makes the acting really good in my opinion. Is the fact that alot of the main cast epically the three actors their incarnation of The Doctor and indeed some of the regular cast have played their characters for years and as such those actors would know what performance would best fit their respective character and it really does help that the script for this adventure is so good that all the actors would have to do is say the lines as they are written and boom a good performance would come out of these actors naturally in my opinion.

Now this is honestly that I never even considered when choosing to review this particular Doctor Who adventure but this particular doctor Who adventure is the last Doctor Who adventure to feature William Hartnell as The First Doctor. As for why he only appears on various TV screens well that's because William Hartnell was in the final few years of his life and as such that's all he could really afford to do which is a shame because it would have been so cool to have all three of the first three incarnations of the doctor in one scene together but I get why that simply wasn't going to happen but it is nice to see that actor William Hartnell managed to make one final appearance as The First Doctor before his death on the 23rd of April 1975.

As alot of you Doctor Who fans will know for the first few years of Jon Pertwees run as The Third Doctor. The Doctor was stranded / exiled on earth with all his knowledge of how to time travel taken away from him and his TARDIS broken well this is something that is fixed in this adventure and how this plot point is handled while it does seem right for this version of The Doctor the plot point could have been handled a bit better in my opinion.

That being said tho i'd honestly have no idea how you could make that plot point much better maybe you could show the timelords sending a gift but we don't hear them say what the gift is and more importantly we don't hear them them saying who this gift is for. That way when it appears / dematerializes  we the audience would be able to work out where that gift came from and you won't The Doctor to spell it out for us where the gift came from but that's just my idea tho and yes I do realise it's a pretty idea but give me credit where it's due for at least trying to come up with what is in my opinion a semi good idea. 

In terms of what I thought about the villain of this Doctor Who adventure which for those that either don't know or have forgotten is called Omega and he was played rather freaking brilliantly in my opinion by Stephen Thorne. In my opinion Omega was a great villain but I do wish that he could have been fleshed out more since this adventure had more then enough episodes to give the character a bit more dimension (pun intended) but I do like the fact that we see Omega come to the realisation that he's basically dead and seeing how he reacts to that news is honestly really interesting in my humble and honest opinion.

This adventure was four episodes long with each episode having a running time of around twenty five minuets for each episode and I feel that four episodes is more then enough to tell this story. Since there really isn't enough story to justify any more episodes but at the same time if this particular Doctor Who adventure did have more episodes even if it was just one more episode that would have meant that we would have meant that we could get to know a little bit more about the character of Omega as an actual character but that's just what I think tho.

I will admit that even tho the effects in this adventure are incredibly dated which is honestly that's to be expected in the classic era of Doctor Who. It was honestly still fun trying to work out how each of this adventures many effects shots were achieved with perhaps the best effect in this Doctor Who adventure being how each of the objects that I guess this slim type creature touches vanishes which I honestly was a pretty looking effect even the slim type creature itself looked pretty a good as an early special effect type of creature in my opinion. 

Overall this was honestly a really good special even if this tenth anniversary special aired at least ten to eleven months before the actual tenth anniversary of Doctor Who. Just like with all of the good things that are in this adventure i've discussed the bad things that are in this adventure in this very review (which you are hopefully or possibly currently reading) as such this adventure gets a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

As for where I got the images that I used in this review well I got all of the images that I used in this review from either the official Doctor Who fandom wiki page , Google Images and Wikipedia and if i'm being honest it's hard to for me to say which one is the best website to use if you want to use images from either this particular adventure or from any Doctor Who adventure. Simply because the quality of the images is roughly the exact same across all three websites and so I say use whichever website that you guys either want to use or feel comfortable using since in this case it really doesn't matter since like I said the quality of the image is roughly the exact same across all three of the above mentioned websites and no I will not be doing a review of any episode from the classic era series eight of Doctor Who simply because I forgot that the Blu-ray was coming out and by the time that I remembered that the Blu-ray for season eight of the classic era of Doctor Who was being released it was already freaking sold out.

Wandavision SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review

 

Ladies and gentlemen it's been a really long time since i've sat down and reviewed a full series of a TV show so long infact that I cannot tell you what the last TV show I reviewed. However with a certain TV show that took the internet and the Disney+ servers by storm you just know that I had produce a review of this certain show and yes there will be spoilers so you have been warned and so join me as I review the 2021 Marvel and Disney that is airing / streaming on Disney+ with the show itself being called simply "Wandavision" enjoy.

Now I really do wish that I could tell you what the plot of this show is but the show is so strange and so bizarre that it makes it hard to tell what the plot of the show even is. Which I guess adds to the re-watch ability and I guess that's of the many reasons as to why people kept on tuning in to watch this show just so they could figure what the plot of the show even is and while it's great to keep your audience guessing as to what's going you also need to have a story which from what I can tell is the one thing that this show doesn't have which is a shame because this show is so good and this show is well written in my opinion but it would have helped the show quite alot if the show was telling a story instead of having a bunch random things happen for no reason for the majority of the show and then have the final three episodes packed full of story but that's just what I think tho.

Starring in this show / series is Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany as Vision / Spectral Vision. Also starring in this show / series is Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau / Geraldine , Randall Park as Jimmy Woo , Evan Peters as Ralph Bohner/ Pietro Maximoff , Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis/ Mrs. Hart , Fred Melamed as Todd Davis/ Arthur Hart , Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis , Julian Hilliard as Billy Maximoff , Jett Klyne as Tommy Maximoff Josh Stamberg as Director Tyler Hayward and Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness / Agnes.

The acting in the show is one of the many things that this show got praise and it's not hard to see why at all. Since the acting in this show is so freaking good with all of the actors in this show delivering good performances and heck I wouldn't be surprised if alot of the actors that appear in this show get nominated for Emmy awards because that's how good the acting in this show truly freaking is in my opinion and yes I might be talking about the acting of Elizabeth Olsen and possibly Paul Bettany and Kathryn Hahn again later on in this review but we'll see tho we'll see.

The CGI in this show was provided / done by Capital T , Monsters Aliens Robots Zombies , RISE Visual Effects Studios and Rodeo FX. There's rather shockingly not that much CGI in this episode in fact there's only a small handful of episodes in which there is some sort of CGI present which is a shame because the CGI effects that are in this show are honestly really good and while the CGI effects in this show aren't movie quality for a TV show that's on a TV show budget the CGI effects in this show turned out alot better then they really should have done in my opinion. 

There was really no way in hell that I could talk about this show and not talk about the big reveal of Agatha Harkness / Agnes being the closest thing to a main villain in this show because in my opinion the reveal itself was so well done. It helps that the makers of this show of this show also gave Agatha Harkness / Agnes the best and most catchy song in this entire show it helps that Agatha's song was written by the writers of Let It Go those writers being Kristen Anderson-Lopez and her husband and her writing partner Robert Lopez and I have to say with the song "Agatha All Along" Kristen Anderson-Lopez and her husband and her writing partner Robert Lopez have created another ear worm of a song and I should know because i've had "Agatha All Along" stuck in my head for weeks and everytime I think it's gone for good it comes right back and even stronger then before.

I'm  not going to lie I really loved Agatha Harkness / Agnes in this show since the character goes from being super sweet and pretty funny to being cold , calculated and pretty scary all in the space of one single episode. I honestly feel that the character of Agatha Harkness / Agnes was so well written in this series and that makes her reveal even more shocking because up until the end of episode seven Agatha / Agnes is written as this kind and caring character but from the end of episode onwards you see that she's actually a pretty and calculating person who is willing to kill her own mother just to get whatever it is that she wants and I feel that actress Kathryn Hahn pulls of playing both Agatha Harkness and Agnes really well since she makes both characters completely different from each other so much so that I wouldn't blame anyone if they re-watched the show and they still believed that Agnes was innocent because that's how good Kathryn Hahn is at playing both of these characters in my humble and honest opinion.

One of the negative things about this series apart from the fact that there's no plot to the show whatsoever is the fact that Vision rebelling against Wanda and her control over him is forgotten about a few episodes later. I don't know why the makers of this show chose to include this subplot since it goes nowhere which is a shame because it would have added an extra dimension to this character since we've seen Vision getting angry before and so to see that he did angry in this series is both a good and a bad it's a good thing because like I said it adds an extra dimension to this character but it's a bad thing because the makers of this show do nothing with it hell we don't even see Vision and Wanda resolve there difference and as such seeing Vision suddenly arrive to help Wanda out in episode 9 doesn't really work since up until that point we the audience have been led to believe that both Wanda and Vision are about to fight and as such there should have been a scene in either episode eight or episode nine where both Wanda and Vision resolve there differences , doing this would then make Vision coming to Wanda's aid make alot more sense since both Wanda and Vision would have resolved there differences and thus would have become alleys / friends / lovers once again but that's just what I personally think about that subplot tho.

I have to talk about Wanda's suit because hot damn does that suit look good and hot damn does actress Elizabeth Olsen look good and fine as all heck in that suit. I have to admit that during the final battle with Agatha during episode nine and when the suit was starting appear on Wanda I was just say there yelling "Show the suit , show the suit" several times and my god does that suit look yes it's not Wanda / Scarlet Witch's traditional suit but it's as close to that more traditional suit that we're ever going to get under Disney and like I said this Wanda /. Scarlet Witch suit looks really freaking good in my opinion.

All of the early to mid episodes of this show all serve as homages to various different sitcoms / TV show comedies. Which I personally really liked since i'm a fan of sitcoms and of TV show show comedies and heck I even got what the fact that they were spoofing The Munsters theme song and intro when "Agatha All Along" started playing but with that being said I understand where people are coming from when they write this show of as being nothing more then a comedy since based of the shows early episodes that's how it would very much seem to be however at the same time if those same people stuck with the show they'd find that it's more of a  action tragedy instead of a straight up comedy but that's just what I think anyways.

Now then boys and girls since this is a superhero show that means that there's action to be found in this superhero TV show and that means that I have discuss the action that's in the actual show itself and if i'm being honest even tho there really isn't that much action in the show. The action that we do get is really good with perhaps my personal favourite action scene in this entire show is the one between Vision and Spectral Vision just because it just doesn't boil to for can hit for the hardest or who can make the other one stay down it also comes down to can outwit who as well which to me makes the fight between Vision and Spectral Vision really interesting just because it's not somethin that I don't I don't think that we've seen in any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films or shows before now and that makes the fight between Vision and Spectral Vision stand out just because like I said it's something that we might not have seen before but that's just what I think anyways.

To me this is show is more of an action tragedy then a straight forward comedy since alot of the episodes includes the episodes unique adverts / commercials deal with something to do with Wanda's. Heck even episode eight is entirely dedicated to telling Wanda's past and seeing her past play out is utterly heartbreaking even seeing how she reacts when we find out that Vision had bought Wanda some land in Westview with the sole purpose for them both to build a home and a life together is utterly heartbreaking and this is where Elizabeth Olsen's acting really shines in my opinion since we can see everything that Wanda is feeling and i'm going to be honest I was very close to crying during both episode eight as well as in episode nine just due to how good Elizabeth Olsen was in those emotional moments.

Overall this was a great first show for Marvel Studios and I think giving side characters TV shows is a great way to tell those characters stories. My SPOILER FREE First Impressions Of Pacific Rim: The Black

 

Pacific Rim fans even tho there have been just two Pacific Rim films the world of Pacific Rim has seemed to catch on with people and who can blame them it's giant monsters fighting equally giant robots that right means that the Pacific Rim franchise is going to be awesome. Well a new piece of media from the franchise / world of Pacific Rim has just been released and so I thought that i'd give you my first impressions of this new animated Netflix series and so here are my first impressions of the show the only just released 2021 show that is called simply "Pacific Rim: The Black" enjoy the post everyone.

The plot of the show just based of the first episode (which is what i'm doing this first impressions based of) seems to be that brother and sister Hayley and Taylor have lived there lives in relative safety away from Kaiju attacks but five years after there parents who are both Jaeger pilots go missing Hayley and Taylor find a decommissioned Jaeger that was used for training and vow to find their parents. In all honesty the plot to this show or at least this first season seems pretty straight forward and very predictable but I could be wrong and the show's setting is pretty unique since the show is set in Australia as such I do hope that the story gets better or at least a little less predictable otherwise I can very easily see this getting cancelled after season two assuming that it already has a season two tho that is.

Starring in this episode is Gideon Aldon as Haley Travis , Former Disney Channel and Austin & Ally star Calum Worthy as Taylor Travis and Erica Lindbeck as Loa. Also starring in this episode is Alexandra MacDonald as Brina , Jason Spisak as Ford , Nolan North as Marshall Rask , Camryn Jones as Young Hayley Travis , Cole Keriazakos as Young Taylor Travis , Bryton James as Corey , Ron Yuan as Shiro Ito and David Errigo. Jr. as Root.

In terms of what I thought about the acting that's in this episode in all honesty the acting that's in this episode is pretty bad but that's to expected since even tho the whole series has been released i'm doing this post just based off of the first episode and no one expects good acting in the first episode of a new show. As such that does give me hope that the acting in this show does indeed improve over the course of the first season altho given that this first season is only seven episodes long I really don't see that being the case at all if anything I see the acting getting better in season two and since this is a Netflix we now that this show is getting a second season since they give all of there animated shows multiple seasons but yeah just based of this first episode the acting isn't that good but there's huge rooms for improvement which in my opinion is a very good thing.

Doing the animation for this episode and thus the rest of the series are the greats and future legends over at Polygon Pictures Inc. In all honesty the animation in this episode is alot better then what I thought that it was going to be since you don't really expect the animation in a TV show anime to be really good but the animation in this first episode really did blow me away but for some reason the makers of this show chose to have the Jaeger (the giant robots that fight the giant monsters) move really slowly which to me just didn't seem that exciting and it takes alot of excitement out of the episodes action scenes in my opinion and i'll possibly go into further detail on this later on this very post but we'll see.

Now in terms of where this show fits in the Pacific Rim film franchise timeline I honestly cannot say since this show doesn't make it obvious where in the timeline this is show is meant to take place. Which I think is a good thing since if they did tell where in the Pacific Rim film franchise timeline that this show is meant to take place then it would have the die fans of of both Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim: Uprising wondering where are the main characters of those films and why aren't they helping out those in Austrailer but if they don't tell you where in the timeline that this show is meant to take place then it means that you can focus more on the story being told as well as characters and alot of other things in my opinion.

I honestly feel that this is a show that you can watch regardless of if you have watched the Pacific Rim films or if you haven't seen the Pacific Rim films. Since just based of this first episode it does a good job of telling what a Jaeger is and how to pilot a Jaeger as well as how many it takes to pilot a Jaeger as well as being it's own thing with it's own set of characters who have there own alleys and who have there own villains to fight as such this movie tie in / spin off doesn't really require you to have seen either of the Pacific Rim films in my opinion.

There  are a few things that I didn't like about this episode the first of which being the fact that Taylor (so far at least) is a pretty unlikable character and the other one being that the episode itself is kind of boring. While I do fully understand where Taylor is coming from since he wants to protect his little sister Hayley it's how he goes about doing that that makes him a pretty unlikable character so far and given that episode has a pretty average running time for animated episode not that much happens in this episode plot wise which makes this episode feel like your typical pilot episode in that it's just setting up the rest of the show all the while doing nothing unique , new or slightly interest all of which serve to make this episode fairly boring in my opinion.

Speaking of the running time for this episode this episode has a total running time of twenty eight minuets and thirty two seconds. Which is about the average running time for a show that's being made for and released on / via Netflix it's just a shame that the episode itself doesn't have enough story to cover that running time and as such I honestly feel that this episode should have been at least twenty two minuets long since that would have given this episode much better pacing and while it wouldn't have made the episode less boring it would have helped to make the episode a lot easier to watch in my humble and honest opinion.

Now then boys and girls this is an action show after all and there is action to be had in this episode and so that means that I have to discuss the action that's in the actual episode itself. This is where having the slow moving Jaegers is a bad idea because it slows the action down to a crawl since your waiting for the Jaeger to throw a punch or defend itself which even the action in this episode is really cool looking it's a chore to get through due to how slowly the Jaegers at least in this episode are being animated but that's just what I think anyways.

Overall this really isn't the best episode to open this new show on and since you only get one chance to make a good first impression I have to say that just based of this one episode this show has made a bad first impression on me personally. Yes there are some good things to be found in this episode but there are alot of bad things in this episode and i've discussed both the good and that bad things in this episode in this very post but since these are only my first impressions of the show I won't be giving "Pacific Rim: The Black" a rating since it's never fair to judge an entire show just based off of the first episode since any show can have a bad first episode just like any show can have a good first episode in my opinion , as for where I got the images that I used in this post well I got the images that I used in this post from the official Pacific Rim fandom wiki page as well as Google Images with my preferred website for images from this show being the official Pacific Rim fandom wiki page just due to how high quality and in some cases how high definition the images that are featured on the Pacific Rim fandom wiki page truly are.

The Flash 1990 TV Series "Pilot" Review

 

The Flash has been a character that's been around for decades and has been featured in so many TV shows both in animated form and live action form for some reason the character has only had TWO solo live action TV series. While many might think that the 2014 series is the first solo TV series for The Flash they are infact wrong for you see there was a TV series based on The Flash that aired in 1990 and so join me as I review the first the episode the 1990 TV series version of The Flash with the episode itself having the totally original name of simply "Pilot" enjoy everyone.

The plot of this episode is after his brother is killed the leader of a ruthless motorcycle gang forensic scientist Barry Allen must use his newly discovered powers to track down the motorcycle gang and bring them to justice before they take over or destroy Central City. In terms of what I thought for the plot of this episode in all honesty the plot for this episode was at best average since the story tries to be dark and epic that it forgets to be fun but it does help that the plot of this episode was really well told in my opinion.

Starring in the episode is John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen / The Flash and Amanda Pays as Tina McGee. Also starring in this episode is Alex Desert as Julio Mendez , Paula Marshall as Iris West , Robert Hooks as Chief Arthur Cooper , M. Emmet Walsh as Henry Allen , Michael Nader as Nicholas Pike , Tim Thomerson as Jay Allen , Priscilla Pointer as Nora Allen , Lycia Naff as Lila and Richard Belzer as Joe Kline.

As for what I thought about the acting in this episode in all honesty the acting in this episode is at best OK. I say that the acting in this episode is at best OK simply because for every actor or actress who turns in a good performance like for example with John Wesley Shipp and Amanda Pays there's an actor or actress who turns in a bad performance like for example Alex Desert , Paula Marshall and Michael Nader which is a shame because when you see a good performance in this episode it really foes freaking stand out in my opinion.

Now even tho the Arrowverse technically started in 2008 with The CW TV series Arrow with the fact that this show show is now apart of the Arrowverse that technically now means that this show is the first show in the Arrowverse. Yes this show does tack place on a different (the now destroyed Earth 90) it's pretty cool to think that this version of The Flash is the longest running superhero in the history of the Arrowverse.

Now one of the things that I use curious to see how they would pull of in this episode is the effect of The Flash running since nowadays you would just use CGI archive the effect of The Flash running but that wasn't an opinion back in 1990. So how I think they did it for alot of scenes in this episode animation I think that they animated The Flash running and then added that animation to the scene but alot of the time they just use sped up footage of actor John Wesley Shipp which works just as well but you can tell that there just speeding up the footage but given the time period that this show was made speeding up the footage was most likely the only way that they could get the effect of The Flash running.

Now rather shockingly for a TV series based on The Flash this episode is pretty freaking dark because you see people not only getting shot at but you also see people dieing and if i'm being honest this episode being dark is both a good and bad thing. it's a good thing because it means that you can go deeper with your characters however it's a bad thing because The Flash is a campy character heck all superheroes are pretty campy weather we like to admit it or not and as such having this episode shy away from having any sense of fun doesn't really work since to me at least The Flash has always been a fun character and so seeing a TV show with The Flash as the main character not be fun is in my opinion a bad thing.

To me the villain of this episode who is called Nicholas Pike is in all honesty a pretty weak villain and i say that because we don't get to find out that much about him. The only thing that we get to find out about him is that he was the police partner of Barry's brother Jay Allen and that he was a crooked cop bug that's really it we don't get to find out what his end goal is or why he's evil and as such it comes across as him being evil just for reasons which doesn't make him a compelling character it makes him a boring character and in my opinion at least a weak villain.

The running time for this episode is one hour and thirty three minuets and forty seven seconds which I personally felt to be a bit on the long side. Simply because there's only enough story to cover at least forty five minuets and as such there are alot of scenes in this episode that go nowhere and add up to nothing heck even the character of Iris West gets written out of the show in the shows seconds episode which in my opinion makes her scenes in this episode pointless heck you could cut alot from this episode and you'd loose nothing of importance in my humble opinion.

Now then boys and girls this is an action show and that does mean that I have to talk about the action that's in this episode and well there actually isn't that much action to talk about. Since there's only one action scene in the entire episode which is fine for a TV show but it's not fine with your debut episode is over an hour and a half long but the action that we do have is ok given that this TV show is from 1990 there's not really that much that they could do with a character like The Flash in an action scene and so they do the best that they could have done it's just a shame that the resulting effort is at best just simply OK and nothing more.

Overall this was honestly a really good episode for the most part and it was honestly really interesting seeing this version of The Flash differs from the 2014 version of The Flash.
