My First Impressions Of The Helstrom TV Series

 

Ladies and gentlemen we are in a time where there are alot of comic book adaptations be they happening on film or TV. Well now there's a new comic book adaptation on the loose and since there are no new comic book adaptations coming out until at least next year you just no that I had to take a look at this one just because it's new content and in a year where new content is hard to come across we have to take it where we can and so here are my first impressions of the Helstrom TV seires which is also called "Helstrom" enjoy this post everyone.

Now here is where I would normally tell you the plot of the episdoe as well as give you my thoughts on it. Which for me at least is a hige red flag since even debut episodes need to have some sort of story and yet this one doesn't bother to even have that which now makes me wonder if the same is going to true for the rest of this shows first season since if the debut episode doesn't have a story then what's to say that the rest of the episodes don't have a story as well.

Starring in this episode and the rest of the series is Tom Austen as Daimon Helstrom and Sydney Lemmon as Ana Helstrom. Also starring in this episode and thus the rest of the series is Elizabeth Marvel as Victoria Helstrom , Robert Wisdom as Caretaker , Ariana Guerra as Gabriella Rosetti , June Carryl as Louise Hastings and Alain Uy as Chris Yen. With some of this episodes gues stars being Jesse James Baldwin as Archer Cavallo , Daniel Cudmore as Keith Spivey , Sandy Robson as Alex Tilden and Eric Gustaffson as Edward Tate.

As for what I thought about the acting in this episode it was honestly alot better then what I was expecting it to be. Which to be fair I wasn't expecting the acting to be that good and so to see acting that's actually above passable is for me a good thing and it does give me hope that the acting in this series is at least good but given that the acting in most Marvel TV shows ranges from OK to bad I don't hold up much hope.

For those that don't know this show isn't based on any one particular comic book but is instead based on the characters of Daimon and Satana Hellstrom. I honestly have no idea what books these characters have appeared in nor do I want to find out what the books that these characters have appeared are like just because I want this show to standout on it's own since it's rare as hell to find a comic book show that isn't based of a comic book series.

This was the last show to be made by Marvel Television who produced every single live action Marvel TV show upuntil this point. Since from Wandavision onwards each TV show will now be produced by Marvel Studios and thus each of those live action TV shows will officialy be canon in the realm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it also means that each of these shows are going to have big budgets since cheap Ike Puearlmutter won't be controlling any of those shows thank freaking goodness.

This is as far as I can tell the first TV show (be it live action or animated) that Marvel have produced however I could be wrong when I say that. I will say that it was brave of Marvel to take on the world of horror since horror fans are the most obssesive fans I can think of and i'm saying that as a horror fan as such I do feel that it would have been very easy for Marvel not to lean on the horror aspect of this show to much.

Now then boys and girls since there is a horror element to this show that does mean that I have to talk about the scares in this episode. I honestly feel that the scares were pretty decent at best which was honestly alot better then what I was expecting them to be to be honest since i was going into this episode expecting the scares to be the typical supernatural jump scares which yeah there are some of those scares but then there are some really cool deaths and gore as well which for me makes all the difference.

I'll be honest another red flag for me is that I found this episode to be pretty freaking boring at times which is not a good thing. Part of what makes it boring is the fact that the episode has no plot to speak of and so all your left doing is counting down the minuets until something happens which really doesn't help things because very little actually happens in this episode and so your just waiting for something that's never going to happen.

This episode was fifty five minuets long which for me at least was a bit of an issue for the exact same reason as to why I found the episode boring. To me there was no need to make the episodes for this show an hour long esoically since your debut episode doesn't have a plot and so I honstly feel that this episode should have been at least twenty minuets if not thirty minuets since at least then the episode would be over pretty quickly and the episode wouldn't drag for large amounts of time because that also happens and it happens alot in this episode.

Overall in terms of debut episodes this one was really freaking since it only fails to do all of things that a debut episdoe should do in my opinion. It also fails to be entertaining and while it does have a few good things in this episode episode which i've covered in this post it also has alot more bad things in the episdoe which just like the good things i've covered in this post and since this is only my first impressions of the show I won't give the episode or show a rating just because the show could get better in later episodes and it wouldn't be fair of me to judge an entire show just of the first episode alone and i'll only watch the rest of the series if I hear enough good thing about the show.

Batman "Joker's Favor" Review

 

Ladies and gents it's been about two maybe three months since I last talked about an episdoe from the classic animated series Batman: The Animated Series. It's also been about a month since I last talked about anything featuring the character of Harley Quinn as such I thought that i'd take a look at a very important episode for the Harley Quinn character because without this episode there would be no Harley Quinn and so here is my revuew of the first ever episode to feature Harley Quinn "Joker's Favor" which as i've mentioned is from the classic Batman animated series called Batman: The Animated Series. enjoy the review everyone because trust me this is a good episode.

The plot of the episode is that Charlie Collins a normal everyday guy cusses out The Joker and when The Joker threatnes to kill Charlie Charlie then says he will do The Joker a favour and a few years later The Joker has come to collect on that favour which Batman must stop before something deadly happens. Plot wise the episode isn't the strongest since the plot is at best fairly average but with that being said the story itself is still so good and it's so much fun seeing this rather odd story play out on screen.

Starring in the episode is Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Bob Hastings as Commissioner Gordon. Also starring in the episode is Robert Costanzo as Harvey Bullock , Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. as Alfred , The Always Great Mark Hamill as The Joker , Ed Begley Jr. as Charlie Collins and Arleen Sorkin as The And Only Harley Quinn. There really aren't that many actors in this episode infact every actor that i've listed in this review are the only actors that appear in this episode.

As for what I thought about the acting in the episode it should really come as no surprise to anyone who has seen any of my previews review on Batman: The Animated Series that I think the acting in this episode is so freaking good. All of the actors in this episode do such a good job portraying there respective characters even Arleen Sorkin who has basiucally had to create the sound for Harley Quinn does such a good portraying her even tho Harley Quinn isn't on screen for a very long time.

The animation for this episode was done by Dong Yang Animation Co., Ltd. and I have no idea who they are or what they've worked on for that matter. Which is a shame because like alot of the episode in Batman: The Animated Series the animation is fo freaking good i'm not going to say that it's the best animation that's in this series but it's not the worst either it does enough to leave an impression on you and nothing more which for me is a good thing.

Like I said before this episode marks the first appearence in any media for one Harley Quinn which means without this episode we wouldn't have all the Harley Quinn stories that we love , Margot Robbie wouldn't be playing Harley Quinn in any DC Extended Universe films and the Harley Quinn animated TV show wouldn't be a thing. So if you love Harley Quinn then you owe thanks to this episode and Paul Dini and Bruce Timm for creating her.

In a rather odd move Batman isnt this episode alot despite the show bareing his name infact he only appears in the third act of the episode and even then he isn't on screen very much. In fact alot of the episdoe is spent with either The Joker (Mark Hamill) or with his unwilling accomplice Charlie Collins (Ed Begley Jr.) as such the episode becomes more of a dark comedy as we see Charlie struggle to deal with The Joker's own form of dark jokes which to me makes the episode more interesting since if Batman was in this episode alot more then it would feel like just another episode of Batman: The Animated Series this way the episode gets to do something new and something different with it's characters whilst at the same time still being a comic book animated TV show.

Despite this episode being the debut story for Harley Quinn (Arless Sorkin) just like with Batman (Kevin COnroy) she's actually not featured in the episode that much. Infact she's only on screen in a very small handful of scenes and yet at the same time she's leaves a lasting impact which just goes to show that this character was born to be one of the best things to come from Batman: The Animated Series or at least I think so anyways.

Hell in this episode instead of being treated like a co-villain with The Joker she's instead treated more like henchmen / henchwoman and not one that's high up in the ranks either. This just goes to show you how far the writers would later develop this character since she goes on to become the main love interest of The Joker as well as well being one of Batman's more unoredictable foes and all of this started because of this one story.

Now then for me at least one of the more interesting parts of the episode is the fact that near the end of the episode we see our boy Charlie threaten to kill The Joker using one of his bombs. Of course the bomb is filled with confetti but just that idea alone the idea that one mad when he's finally had enough is willing to sink to the same depths as The Joker to me says that anyone can become someone like The Joker when they've finally had enough and they finally snap.

Now then since this is an action show and there is action in this episode that does mean that I have to talk about the action that's in the episode itself. Which sadly like the plot is one of the episodes more weaker elements since there isn't that much action in this episode with the only action set peiece taking place near the end of the episode that ending action set peiece is mostly played for laughs and as such any drama that could have been built up is now lost but it is still pretty entertaining action tho which is for me at least a good if not great thing.

Overall this was a really good episode and is honestly a pretty solid debut episode for Harley Quinn since she is really entertaining in this episode. That being said in terms of the show this isn't the strongest of episodes i've covered the reasons as to why I think that this episode isn't that strong in many ways but at the same time if your a die hard Harley Quinn fan be it from whatever piece of media you've seen the character in then this episdoe is a must watch as for what rating I give the episode it gets an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

Castlevania Season One Review

 

Ladies ans gents I make it no secret that i'm huge fan of the Castlevania animated series and well I thought that i'd do something that i've not done in a while and that's take a look at an entire animated series. Ths one is honestly the best one to do this kind of review with since this first season is only four episodes and so it doesn't take that much time to watch all four episdoes and so here is my review of the first season of "Castlevania" enjoy the review everyone.

The plot of this first season is Trevor Belmont from the legandary monster hunting Belmont family is tasked with protecting the city of Gresit from hordes of creatures unleashed by Dracula as revenge for some people killing his wife and is part of his plan to whipe out the entire human race. I have to admit the plot for this first season is so good and is engaging I honestly think that the plot is one of this seasons strongeest suits which is really saying something since this is not only a really good show but this season is also really good as well.

Starring in this season of the show is Richard Armitage as Trevor Belmont and Tony Amendola as The Elder. Also starring in this first season of the show is Matt Frewer as The Bishop , Alejandra Reynoso as Sypha Belnades , James Callis as Alucard , Fred Tatasciore as Blue Fangs , Timothy Omundson as Stave Priest , Emily Swallow as Lisa Tepes , Moira Quirk as Djuvara , Jonathan Lipow as Bosha and Graham McTavish as Count Dracula.

The acting in the show just like the plot is so freaking good all of the characters in my opinion are cast freaking perfetly. Part of what makes me say that is the fact that the scripts are so good and the scripts give the actors alot to work with in terms of character and the character's personality as such all the actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance would come out naturelly.

Doing the animation for this season is Powerhouse Animation Studios who have worked on things ranging from OK KO! Lets Be Heroes to the upcoming Blood of Zeus and the upcoming Masters of the Universe: Revelation. To say the animation is good would be like saying Avengers: Endgame or Joker are good movies no duh because every single frame of animation in this first season leaps of the screen and is so full of life.

This show takes on an anime inspired look which is actually becoming more and more popular but be rest assured this show is American produced in every single way. Hell I doubt that alot of the epopel who watched this show the first time knew that they were watching an actual cartoon because everything about the show is so mature that they most likly thought that they watching an anime because there not used to seeing an American made cartoon be this mature.

I'm not kidding when I say that this first season is really short because it's only four episodes long and each episdoe is around twenty five minuets long. So you could watch all four episodes in under two hours if you really wanted which is a shame because this show is so good that I honestly wanted there to be more episodes just so I had more content to watch in this first season but they most likely didn't have the story to cover more episodes in this solid first season.

In what I think is a rather strange move the makers of this show chose to have Dracular only appear in the first episode of the show and even then he is the main character of the first episode. I don't honestly get why they did this since Dracular at least for the first two seasons of this show is meant to be the main villain and so wouldn't it have made more sense to feature him in more episodes this way we can see how many people he's killed and thus we can fully understand what kind of a threat he really is to this small citry and our heroes.

One of my issues with this first season is that none of the characters main characters or not get any kind of character development. Which while I do understand why that's the case since this season is basically a prequel to the games it is still something that should have happened since they have this story that kind of demands that some characters go through some form of characters development and yet the makers of the show chose not to give the characters any kind of development whatsoever which is always a bad thing in my opinion.

When I say that this show is violent I really do meant and when I say that this show is not for kids I really , really , really mean it. Since yeah this first season is so freaking gory take for example whenever you see someone get ripped in half you see there insides in full on gory fashion on top of that there's a ton of swearing in everysingle episode and so if you have little kids or nicese or nephews do not show them this show it will scar them for sure lol.

Since this is an action show that does mean that I have to talk about the action that's in this first season of the show. Which i'm not going to lie is freaking cool and is where the animation truly excels in my opinion since every action scene in this first season no matter how short it is leaps of the screen and you feel every single punch as well and helping things is the fact that the action isn't just "see who can hit who the hardest" you see our heroes use there skills in various different ways and because if that the action is never boring.

Overall not only is this first season reallyu freaking good but it also holds up really freaking well in my opinion. Yes there are some issues in this first season and I have talked about those issues but in this review but for me this show is well written , well acted and most importantly well animated and is honestly a really good show to show people who say animation is just foir kids as such this first season gets an 8.5 out 10 from me.

Star Wars Rebels "Spark Of Rebellion" Review

 

Star Wars fans it's been at least three weeks since I last talked about anything to do with Star Wars and it oddly feels like it's been alot long if i'm being honest. However i'm back with another Star Wars themed post and honestly this is one that's been on my never ending but somehow always growing list of things to review and well since i've not talked about Star Wars Rebels in well over two years and so I thought why not take a look at something from that show and so here is my review of the Star Wars Rebels premier TV film "Spark Of Rebellion" enjoy the review everyone.

The plot of the film / two part episode is fourteen year old Ezra tries to steal something from some people however it turns out those people are the good guys who then help Ezra escape the empire and so with the crew of the Ghost (the good guys I mentioned before in this very summery) have to help free some wookies before they die on a mining planet. The plot for me at least was pretty thin since it doesn't really come into effect until the second half of this two part opening story which is a really bad thing since the first half could and should have been used to set up the story as well as the stakes but they don't as such the story feels kind of weak in my opinion.

Starring in this film / episode is Taylor Gray as Ezra Bridger , Freddie Prinze, Jr. as Kanan Jarrus and Vanessa Marshall as Hera Syndulla. Also starring in this film / episode is Steven Blum as Garazeb Orrelios , Tiya Sircar as Sabine Wren , David Shaughnessy as Cumberlayne Aresko and Myles Grint , David Oyelowo as Alexsandr Kallus , Keith Szarabajka as Cikatro Vizago , James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi , Jason Isaacs as The Grand Inquisitor and the legend that is James Earl Jones as Darth Vader.

Now I want it known that even tho I did watch this series as it was first being released I haven't seen this episode since it was first aired as such I forgot how good the acting honestly really was. All of the new characters are cast perfectly and i'm not just saying that as someone who watched this show all the way through I honestly do mean it because all of these actors are so good that to me I stopped hearing the actor and I started to hear the character which for me is always a good sign because it says that the acting is really good and that this character was perfectly cast.

Doing the animation for this film / episode and thus the entire series is CGCG and Lucasfilm Animation Singapore. I want it known that i've not heard of either of these companies as such I have no idea what else they have worked on either before or after this show and that's a shame because the animation in this film / episode is honestly really freaking good every single frame is a visual treat because of how good looking this film / episode is.

The movements I felt were just right since they are grounded enough to believe that they are real and yet cartoonish enough so your able to suspend your disbelief. Just to clarify what I meant when talking about the movements what I meant was since we are so used to seeing real people act in Star Wars and of course real people can only move like real people but in the realm of animation those same characters can now have some more cartoonish movements and that's what this episode does really well in my opinion.

I have to say this just because it's been bugging me since this episode first aired and that is they made the wookiees look ugly as hell. I get that animating fur even on a TV budget would be hard to do but the wookiees at least in this episode look like plastic toys rather then actual living breathing characters. The wookies in this film film / episode just look hideous and would honestly be best described as nightmare fuel and that's me being very freaking kind by the way.

There are technically two versions of this film / episode with the most widely found version being the one that aired on I think ABC but i'm not quite sure. You can very easily tell the difference between the two versions tho because the prolog version has a scene at the start of the episode Darth Vader giving The Grand Inquisitor his orders for this first season of the show. Since we got Vader speaking that also means that we got the legend that is James Earl Jones back to play the character and bare in mind this was back before he returned for any future Star Wars films so having him back was a big deal and it was great to hear him speak new lines of dialog as this iconic character.

To me this is and The Mandalorian TV show is the closest thing that Disney has created that even comes close to being anything like Star Wars is , was or even could be. Since both this show and this film / episode are the closest thing to being anything like Star Wars then the current Star Wars movies were and please bare in mind I like The Force Awakens but even I can tell then that movie is nothing like Star Wars but this show is.

Now then boys and girls since this is an action show and the is action in this film / episode that does mean that I have to talk about the action that we see in this film / episode. For me the action was one of the best things about this film / episode just due to how fun it was which is something that lot of action set pieces forget to be as such it was nice to see alot of action set pieces in this film / episode be fun to watch and have alot of cool stuff in them with perhaps the coolest moment and the most epic moment in the entire episode being the reveal that Kanan being a Jedi and seeing him take on a bunch of storm troopers all by himself.

Overall this was a really good film / episode and incase your wondering why i'm referring to it as a film / episode it's because it did originally air as a TV film but is also the first two episodes of the show. While this film film / episode has alot of stuff going for it it also has a lot of stuff going against it with some of those those issues being things that I mentioned in this very review as such I cannot give it perfect ten out of ten but the film / episode does get a 7 out of 10 from this Star Wars fanboy.

Daredevil TV Series "Into The Ring" Review

 

Ladies and gentlemen depending on where your seeing this review you'll know that i've mainly been covering DC Comics related media for the last week or so and well I grew tied of doing that and so I thought that i'd look at some Marvel stuff. As luck would have it it's been three almost four weeks since I last took a look at something from the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and so here is my review of the show that started of that mini universe of Netflix shows (which are technically connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe) Daredevil with my review of the show's debut episode called "Into The Ring" enjoy the review.

The plot of the episode is new defense lawyers Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson land there first client in murder suspect Karen Page and it's up to the duo to prove that she's innocent and it's up to Matt Murdock's alter ego Daredevil to keep her safe. I will admit that the plot of the episode to me wasn't that engaging just because to me there wasn't alot of story actually happening and so plot points felt forced but I would understand if someone did like the plot of this episode tho i'm just not one of the fans of the plot of this episode.

Starring in the episode is Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil , Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson. Also starring in the episode is Toby Leonard Moore as James Wesley , Bob Gunton as Leland Owlsley , Peter McRobbie as Father Paul Lantom , Daryl Edwards as Detective Carl Hoffman , Chris Tardio as Detective Christian Blake , John Patrick Hayden as Jack Murdock and Skylar Gaertner as Young Matt Murdock.

The acting in this episode at least in my opinion was really freaking with all of the actors even those who don't have big roles in this episode truly do deliver solid performances. What helps the acting in this episode is the fact that the script is so good and the script gives the actors alot to work with in terms of there characters and the characters personality as such all the actors have to do really is just say the lines as they are written and nothing more.

I have to say that while the idea of having a good person be arrested for a crime they didn't commit and thus they need the help of our hero or heroes is an over played and over done here the idea really does work. What makes this played out idea is the fact that you feel the pain that Karen is going through and so you want to see her let go free of all chargers which she is here and it also makes her meeting the other two main characters feel more organic instead of having her meet them for no reason she's now meeting them because she actually really does need there help.

There was something in this episode that I found to be unintentionally funny and it's the fact that after the prolog at the start of the episode which details how Matt Murdock become blind the child actor playing a young Matt Murdock seems to add several e's everytime he says see. Just seeing that scene play out which yes I did rewind because it was that funny I have to wonder does the actor always pronounce see with several e's everytime he says it or was it that way in the script I honestly need to know the answer to this question.

Sadly we are now getting into the negatives for the episode but not for long tho because there is still alot of good stuff in to be found in the episode. One of those negatives is the fact that even Karen says you can't trust any one to Daredevil he still for some reason takes the one thing that could clear her name to the press which in turn would bring alot more pain to all of the characters this to me is a dumb move on the part of Daredevil since he's not only putting his life on the line he's putting several lives on the ling honestly the smart thing to do would be to let the villain of the episode think that they've won and then when they are sure that there's no more corruption in the police force then get Karen out of prison since her character really isn't that important to this first season at least from what I can remember it would have made alot of sense to have her be jail for this first season and then have her released at the end of the first season where she could then join with Matt and Foggy and help them out with clients where ever she can.

This episode is fifty two minuets and fifty seconds long which I feel is a tad bit long for this show since the episode doesn't really have alot of story to cover that time frame. If anything this episode should have been at least forty minuets if not a little less then like maybe thirty five minuets but I get it this is Netflix alot of there shows seem to closer to an hour then forty five minuets but when the episode doesn't have alot of story then the time for the episode needs to adjusted.

Like I said before this show and all of the other Marvel Netflix shows are technically set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. AS such whenever you watched a new episode of any of the Netflix Marvel shows you were technically watching the latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I know that these shows are set in the Marvel Cinematic because all of them reference the final battle in New York from 2012's The Avengers AKA Avengers Assemble. I do have to wonder tho why the film makers behind either Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers: Endgame didn't include characters like Daredevil , Jessica Jones , Iron Fist Or Luke Cage because they very easily could have done just by showing them getting snapped away at the end of Avengers: Infinity War or by showing them taking part in the final battle in Avengers: Endgame either one would have worked.

Now then boys and girls since this is an action show that does mean that we have to talk about the action that's in this episode. Which was honestly really freaking well done in my opinion you could just tell that the stunt guys were going all in because there is no way in hell that the makers of the show could have made the set safe enough for the stunts that they do in this episode and the action itself was so freaking good I honestly recommend watching this episode just for the action alone it's that good in my opinion.

Overall this was a really freaking good episode and is honestly a really good representation of what the show is like when it's at it's best in my opinion. That being said however I personally did have issues with the episode all of which i've talked about in this review but I can still see why this became a fan favorite and lasted three seasons because just based of this episode I can say that this is a decent series and with that said this episode gets an 8 out of 10 from me.

The New Addams Family "Halloween With The Addams Family" Review

 

October is every horror fans favourite time of yeah and well in order to celebrate this wonderful time of yeah I thought i'd look at a bad remake featuring a spooky family. There have been so many adaptations of The Addams Family over the years some good some not so good but one the adaptation that people seem to forget about 1998 TV sitcom version and well since it's nearly halloween I thought i'd bring you my review of The New Addams Family debut episode called "Halloween With The Addams Family" enjoy the review everyone.

The plot of the episode is Wednesday and Pugsley go trick or treating while the rest of The Addams Family minus Thing for some reason invite some new friends into there mansion with those new friends turning out to be robbers. The plot of the episode is honestly the least of the episodes problems since there are many more things that are wrong with the episode and it doesn't help that there basically is no story being told in this episode hell what I just described to you could be more of a summery of the episodes events rather then the actual plot of the episode.

Starring in the episode is Glenn Taranto as Gomez Addams , Ellie Harvie as Morticia Addams  and Betty Phillips as Grandmama. Also starring in the episode Michael Roberds as Uncle Fester , Nicole Fugere as Wednesday , Brody Smith as Pugsley , John DeSantis as Lurch , Robert Moloney as Ed , Rob de Leeuw as Bully , David Fredericks as A Police Officer , Suzanne Palmer as A Cop , Martin Novotny as The Grim Reaper and Jerry Van Dyke as The Burglar.

Oh boy where do I begin with the acting in this episode to say that it's bad would almost be an insult to things that are bad. Since yeah the acting in this episode is so freaking bad every actor in this (apart from the actress playing Wednesday) is just so over the top that it becomes annoying all of the adults actors are just hamming it up and not in a way that's fun it's done in a way that makes you want to turn the episode off.

When I said that this episode was a remake I wasn't kidding because they remade the 1977 sixties Addams Family TV series reunion movie Halloween With The New Addams Family. While this episode from what I can gather does change up some things like the title dropping the word New from this episodes title and the subplot of Pugsley and Wednesday going trick or treating this episode is pretty much the exact same story as the Halloween With The New Addams Family hell i'm surprised that this episode didn't introduce Gomez's brother Poncho since he was a character in the Halloween With The New Addams Family as well.

Oddly enough this whole series is mostly made up of remakes from classic episodes from the sixties Addams Family TV show. Which makes me wonder why was this show even made since there's nothing new or creative about the show whatsoever it was purely made just to cash in on The Addams Family IP which by the late nineties when this show was coming out was dwindling anyway so being creative and new would have actually helped the show but I guess that's to much to ask from this show tho.

In all honesty out of the actual Addams Family the one character I actually liked or even found enjoyable to watch was Wednesday. Simply because her character is actually written pretty close to how she was written in the previous films both theatrical and direct to video which made the character fun to watch  because everyone else even to some extent Pugsley are written so badly that they might as well be different characters entirely.

 

For some dumb reason this episode seems to thing that the Addams Family are dumb as hell which couldn't be further from the truth. Yes the family can be a bit dim at times but it's was more of them not knowing about how other people do things and not them not knowing when there being freaking robbed which makes the family look dumb as hell because this is something that the family would be able to pick up on right away.

I wouldn't blame any one if they forgot about this show since it only lasted one season which for some reason lasted sixty five episodes. How this show managed to get that many episodes is truly beyond me since it's such a bad show no one would have blamed the network which in this case was the Fox Family Channel if they cancelled this show after only a handful episodes just because it doesn't take a genius to see that this was a bad show.

Now then since this is a comedy that does mean that we have to talk about the jokes that are in the episode. Which I feel is one of the episodes more stronger suits which isn't a high bar to reach and isn't really a good thing since alot of the jokes in this episode aren't that funny but I will admit that I laughed at the idea of Pugsley and Wednesday going trick or treating as siskel and ebert and spoofing them but even then the joke doesn't really work since as far as I can tell they both gave positive reviews to both the theatrically released Addams Family movies.

Overall this episode was really freaking and not in a so good it's bad kind of way it's just flat out bad and flat out wrong on so many levels. Yes there si some enjoyment to be had with this episode and i'm assuming this series but if this episode is anything to go by then im glad that the show isn't that remember as for what score I give this episode it gets a 2 out of 10 from me , as for where I got these images they where gathered from the official The Addams Family fandom wiki page or Goggle Images and for once I cannot recommend any website because the quality of images is about the same on either one so choose which ever one you want.

 

Izombie TV Series "Pilot" Review

 

Comic book fans you've seen me review a ton of comic book shows that feature superheroes and hell you've seen me take a look at a few that don't feature superheroes. This is one of those shows and it's also a show that i've not really seen for a really long time and since I don't just want to cover comic book shows that feature superheroes I thought that this would be a good show to cover and so here is my review of the first episode of Izombie called "Pilot" enjoy the review everyone because I know that I will.

The story for this episode is a girl is found dead and it's up to Detective Clive Babineaux and morgue worked / newly turned zombie Olivia Moore to find who did it and why. The plot in my opinion is honestly really well told since it does a good job of telling the story of how Olivia Moore became a zombie in the first lace as well as telling the aforementioned plot both of which are really interesting and engaging in my opinion.

Starring in the episode is Rose McIver as Olivia Moore , Malcolm Goodwin as Clive Babineaux and Rahul Kohli as Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti. Also starring in the episode is Robert Buckley as Major Lilywhite , Aly Michalka as Peyton Charles , Molly Hagan as Eva Moore , Ty Olssen as Detective Pratt , Nick Purcha as Evan Moore , Daran Norris as Johnny Frost , Hiro Kanagawa as Lieutenant Suzuki , Alexandra Voicu as Tatiana , Elysia Rotaru as Tess and Jenna Berman as Monica.

In all honesty the acting in this episode was alot better then what I remember it being and I know that I say that or something like it alot but i honestly feel that it's true here since i've only seen this episode and this show once which was when it was first being broadcast. It would have been very easy for the actors in this show to go over the top with there acting since the premise of the show is kind of stupid but no they all went the serious route with there acting and it pays off because for me that makes the comedy and the more dramatic moments work better.

For those of you who don't know this TV show and thus this episode is based on the comic book also called Izombie which was published by DC Comics under there Vertigo banner. The book was written by Chris Roberson with artwork by Michael Allred , Jay Stephens , Jason Bone and James Rugg the book was published between 2010 and 2012 with the series lasting twenty eight issues which means the makers of this show didn't really have alot to work from when adapting the book for TV screens as such I have to assume that the TV show isn't that much like the book but i could be wrong.

While I cannot say if the book is any good since i've not read a single issue of it and nor do I plan to for that matter. I do hope that it is somewhat like the show just because the show was really fun to watch and would get really creative in some episodes and so I would love for that creativeness to be present in the book as well as the sense of fun that there is in the show as well but at the same time I hope that the comic book is nothing like the show just because I feel it would give the show more of a chance to stand on it's two feet.

In most zombie media the infection that causes you to become a zombie is caused when a zombie bites you. Here tho it seems to happen when a zombie scratches you which while it does work given the TV budget and the fact that this show aired on The CW nothing beats a traditional zombie bite there's just something about being bitten by a zombie that makes it feel more personal and at the same time more tragic.

Compare that to getting scratched and it just looses something because getting a scratch isn't personal hell it could be something that happens by accident and thus the idea of someone getting turned into a zombie looses that something that made the idea creepy and scary to begin with. Hell if you want to do something that's more TV friendly and yet still scary then why not have the zombie virus infect people at random this way your constantly on edge over who could turn next and that way should a cast member decide to leave the show you already have a way that they could leave the show.

This episode does introduce something that is honestly kind of cool and that's the fact that when a zombie is enraged he or she get's super strength. I honestly feel that this is actually a pretty cool idea and it's one that given the right property could work in other zombie related media and ity does create some drama for future episodes and future seasons of this show since now your left wondering when our main zombie girl Liv (Rose McIver) will fly of the handal again and if she does would she actually kill someone since she nearly does that in this episode.

One of the biggest issues for me is the episodes running time since the episode is forty two minuet and forty two second long. Which I feel is kind of long for this show since there are huge portions of the episode where nothing is happening to advance either the characters or the plot and as such the episode can at times feel very boring if anything this show should have had episodes that are at least twenty two to thirty minuets long but that's just what I think.

Now then boys and girls since this is a drama that does mean that I have to talk about the shows more dramatic moments. Which is honestly where this episode shines the brightest in my opinion since the show doesn't really hammer the drama down your throat at all it has only a handful of drama filled scenes with the rest of the episode being dedicated to the episode's main story as a well as setting up the main cast which is honestly more important then having a load of drama in every scene or at least that's what I think anyways.

Overall this was a really good and fun episode in my opinion and it's a really good example of how good this show could be. That being said as i've listed in this review the episode does have alot of problems and it's because of those problems that I cannot give this episode a perfect ten out of ten however I can see why this show caught on the way it did because this is a really good episode as such this episode gets a 7 out of 10 from me.
