Elvira: Mistress of the Dark: Spring Special Review

Comic book fans it's been quite a long time since i've reviewed a comic book and well it just so happens that Elvira has a new comic book out. If you guys recall I reviewed the first four issues of the new Mistress Of The Dark comic book series and I have been reading The Shape Of Elvira but I had no idea that there was going to be a Spring special if anything I thought there would be a Halloween special since that would make the most sense anyways here is my review of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark: Spring Special.

Now there are two stories in this book the first being called Elvira In Drive-In Of The Dead and is about Elvira trying to make it big as a movie star by starring in films made by George Rottmero only to find out his films are little to realistic. The second is called Elvira In The Satan 500 and it involves Elvira in a race with the devil and that's pretty much it I have to be honest out of the two I preferred the first story since it felt like an Elvira story where as the second one felt like it was better suited for another character.

I have to question why they chose to release a spring special with this character not only no where near Halloween but also so close to summer then it would have made more sense just to call it a summer special. I'm not even kidding we are a few weeks away from the start of summer and this special only came out about a week ago so surely at that point you have to wonder why they didn't just change the name our put the release of until October where it would have made more sense given it features a horror legend.

I will say that Elvira does act pretty much how you;d expect her to act in both stories and that's really to be expected since she is such an icon in the world of horror. I will admit tho there are times where the real life Elvira would have said a joke and this comic book version doesn't go with it like for example the real life Elvira would have made fun of the fact that there just ripping of names of other horror icons and this one doesn't go down that route at all.

The first story is also for some reason split up into several short chapters which are all names of the films that the fictional director is working on with our main star and the one i've included is a spoof that just made me laugh.  I have no idea why they chose to split this story up into chapters when it really didn't need it if anything it doesn't make a difference either way and is there just for a joke and that's really it.

Writing the stories are Fernando Ruiz and Dan Parent for the first story and for the second we have Scott Bryan Wilson. Writing wise the book is pretty solid like I said before Elvira acts how you'd expect her to act so there is a clear understanding of the character but I feel like this book would have been better if the writing didn't take itself two seriously which I honestly feel that it does and it holds the book back from being truly entertaining.

Doing the art for the book are writers Fernando Ruiz and Dan Parent with them not only doing the art work for there own story but with Fernando doing the art work for Scott's story as well. In my opinion the artwork sucks hard it looks like the kind of artwork that you'd expect from a cartoon comic book tie in and that's a shame because the Mistress Of The Dark comic book series proved that this series can indeed produce solid art.

Shockingly this book is only thirty one pages long and that does mean that the second story does get rushed alot. If your going to tell a racing story in a comic book then you need at least two or three issues to really do it justice here tho we only get a few pages and that's not really enough at least in my opinion it's not and it's a shame because on paper this story should have been interesting and funny as hell but due to the small amount of pages left to tell the story it means that we have to rush through plot points.

One of the great things about both stories is that they somehow managed to include some classic Elvira props like the chair she's lying down on in the first story is the iconic red couch and as you can see from the above picture the car she drives is the iconic Elvira car. As someone who is a bit of an Elvira fan I was glad that they somehow managed to work those props into the book and not have them feel like fan service heck they don't even focus on them and there barely seen but it's cool that they are there.

Now I don't know if your reading the current Mistress Of The Dark comics or not but in every issue they always include a picture of the real life Elvira and I was hoping that they'd do the same here and it's fair thing to assume since they also do it for The Shape Of Elvira as well. I have no idea why they chose not to include a real life image of her in this book it just seems strange to me that they'd have two ongoing books which do it and not have it included for the special and I checked all three are published by the same company Dynamite Entertainment so there's no excuse in my opinion.

Now there are elements of horror seen in this book but as you'd expect from Elvira it's played up in a cartoonish way. I'm honestly fine them doing this since Elvira herself did the same thing in both of her movies however there is nothing in here that's outright scary unless you think not having any jokes is scary. That's not to say that you can show this book to kids because it's Elvira so you just know that there's going to be alot of people finding her attractive and staring at her flotation devices.

As you'd expect from anything to do with Elvira this is a comedy and that's where this book feels like a let down at least in my opinion. Since there are very little to know actually funny jokes in this the only jokes I could say was funny is included in the above picture and even then it's only funny if you know who those people are the only other funny joke is in the first story when the director mentions he made a ton of blockbusters and one of them includes Freddy Vs Jason which i'd say only works if you know the director there actually spoofing and not because it's a clever joke.

Overall as an Elvira book it's pretty decent but lacking the humour that one would expect from the character but if this was comic book featuring a new character i'd say it wouldn't be worth buying. This book does have a lot going for it but it also has a lot of flaws and so this books gets a 5 out of 10 from me and yes I will be reviewing The Shape Of Elvira as soon as all four issues have been released.

Game Of Thrones FULL Series Review Which WILL Contain Spoilers

The title of this post are words that I never thought i'd be typing but here we are the final ever episode of the show has aired and I made a promise to myself and it's one that i'm going to keep. This show has been a huge part of our lives for the past eight or nine years and so to be at the end of the story is one that fills my heart with sadness and so here is my full series review of Game Of Thrones and yes there will spoilers for season 8 and the final ever episode.

The plot of the show is seven families all want to be either king or queen and will do just about anything to reach those goals. That's honestly the best way I can summarise the plot of the show because there's so much going on in any given season. Any fan of this show will tell you that there plenty of twists and turns that keep the show from being boring and predictable and that to me also helps with the story since you have no idea where the story will go next.

Now for the sake of my own sanity i'm only listing actors from season 8 because if I went through every single season i'd be here all day and so starring in this show is Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister , Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister , Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister , Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen , Kit Harington as Jon Snow , Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark , Maisie Williams as Arya Stark , Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth , Nathalie Emmanuel as Missandei , Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy , John Bradley as Samwell Tarly , Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran Stark , Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth , Conleth Hill as Varys , Rory McCann as Sandor "The Hound" Clegane , Jerome Flynn as Bronn , Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane , Joe Dempsie as Gendry , Jacob Anderson as Grey Worm , Iain Glen as Jorah Mormont , Hannah Murray as Gilly and freaking finally Carice van Houten as Melisandre.

The show has always had lots of great acting in it so it really shouldn't shock you when I tell you that the acting in the show is in my opinion some of the best acting seen in television today. Alot of what makes the acting so great doesn't come from the big action scenes or the heavy dialog scenes it comes from the smaller moments there was a great and well acted scene in season 8 episode 2 with Gwendoline Christie and those are the times of moments where the great acting really does shine through.

Now while I could find who did the CGI for the show there was so many companies involved that I made the choice not to include them. In terms of what I thought about the CGI in the show it started out pretty weak like you can tell that the budget for effects in the early seasons wasn't that high but it's something that got better and better as the series went one to the point where the CGI seen in the show was better then the effects seen in most movies.

Alot of people have been giving this final season alot of hate mostly due to it's writing and while I can see where there coming from in some cases to me this show was never about the destination it was about the journey. I do see where there coming from tho when they say that certain storylines weren't concluded in a satisfactory way or that they made someone into the villain without really moving them into that place in a proper way and from this point onwards there will be heavy spoilers but if you don't want to get spoiled then just skip to the end of the review

I'll full on admit to never seeing them turning Daenerys evil and incase you didn't get it that's who I was just talking about. Yes they do hint at it all throughout the show but she was never moved into that place where she could turn evil and that's my main issue since they very easily could have started to fully turn her in season 6 or 7 and if they did that it wouldn't seem as jarring when they did it in episode 5 of season 8.

Now apparently some people didn't like the ending and that was always going to the case no matter which way the show went people were always going to be upset with how the show ends all you have to do is look at the ending to How I Met Your Mother which I thought had a solid ending. The only real issue I had with the ending is them making Bran king comes from out of know where and as far as we've seen Bran hasn't really shown any tendencies that would make him a good king where as Sansa has shown some tendencies.

I've always said this since episode 1 of season 1 i've wanted Daenerys to be queen and I kind of got my wish in that regard but just before the start of the final season I started to think that Sansa would make a great queen. So I was proven right on both accounts because technically Dany does become queen but only for a few hours or possibly days and Sansa becomes queen of the north and honestly who better to run the north then someone who's been sticking up for it since the shows early years.

The show has always been good at giving us plenty of twists and turns and delivering them in a way that not only shocked us but also advanced the story. This is something that goes all the way back to the killing of then main star Ned Stark in season one and i'll admit I was hoping that we would get something along those lines in the final season I was shocked when we actually didn't get something like that because to me it wouldn't be GOT without it.

The show was also known for it's violence and that is something that I could very easily see people getting put of by but it wouldn't be the same show if the violence was toned down. I'm honestly glad that they didn't tone down the violence because to me the show has always had this realistic feel to it and the real world is shockingly violent so it would make sense that the show would depict the violence in the show as realistically as possible.

Now this is something that i don't actually miss but in the shows early years there was alot of and I mean a lot of sex and nudity. I'm so glad that they toned that down as the show went on because it allowed the plot of the show and of that season to rightfully take centre stage so your forced to focus more on the plot then instead of having boobs thrown in your face every few minuets and that also allowed for some great character moments as well.

Overall it's been a fantastic ride and it's one that im sad to see end but all good things must come to an end and i;m glad that the team got to end it on there own terms as for THAT petition going round demanding they remake the final season it's a pointless thing to sign and it makes you look entitled my final rating for this show is a 9.5 out of 10.

Animated Films Disney Should Remake

Disney fans there is no doubting the fact that the company has started to really like the idea of doing remakes. The trouble is tho there choosing movies that are already perfect in the first place and so there's no point in remaking them and so I'm taking it upon myself to tell you some films that the company should remake since the whole point of a remake is to make something better and not redo something that wasn't broken in the first place.

Home On The Range

The whole point of a remake is to fix a broken film and this is true with this film this film is often seen as one of the worst Disney films. This is also a film that even failed to make back it's budget only bringing in one hundred and three million against a one hundred and ten million dollar budget so while it would indeed be seen as a risk to remake something that was bad if they do choose to remake it they could fix alot of the films issues and thus make a better movie as well as a nice profit from it.

The Aristocats

This is one of those films that not alot of people really no about and it's not hard to see why heck even as i'm writing this piece i'm trying my best to remember what happens in this movie. That right there is why it should be remade to make the film more memorable to tell that same story only now through modern eyes and while I do realise that could mean getting jokes about modern technically and slang words it could also mean that the film could indeed make fun of the previous film in some way.

Robin Hood

Now this is one of those rare cases where a live action remake is already in development so i'm not going to spend that much time on this one. Given that every hollywood studio these days is looking to make a Robin Hood movie why shouldn't the house of mouse look to get on that trend and remake it's own version and given what other Robin Hood films have come recently they certainly can't do any worse.

 The Great Mouse Detective

There are many Sherlock Holmes stories and reboots so it stands to reason that an animated film based of the character could get the exact same treatment. This film reminded people that Disney movies could be good and it could do the same thing for there live action movies since let's face it Disney hasn't made a good live action movie in years and if you had the right creative team behind you could be looking at a franchise film right here.

Anastasia

Now this film is a bit controversial since when it first came out it wasn't a Disney film it's a 20th Century fox film but since Disney now owns both companies involved with the making of this film they might now own the rights to this film. If that is the case then why not remake yes this story is dark as all hell but here's the thing Disney has made dark movies in the past and we need reminding of the fact that not all films have a happy ending some of them have a dark and heck even the real life Anastasia had a sad ending since she was killed so you could have that be the ending to your film

The Little Matchgirl

I never said that only theatrically released films was going to be featured on this list and so with that in mind I honestly think that this short film should be remade. Why should it be remade I hear you ask well that's because I honestly feel that this film would make a solid ninety minuet live action movie especially if you also use elements from Hans Christian Andersen's original novel but that's just what I think.

DC Super Hero Girls TV Series Review

DC fans I made myself a promise a little while a go and I intend on keeping it no matter what that promise was that as soon as either Harley Quinn appeared or we reached double digits in terms of episodes then I would post my review of this show. Well i've just seen episode nine and Harley shows up in that episode and so I can now proudly present to you my review of the tv series version of DC Super Hero Girls.

The premise of the show is that Barbara Gordon has just moved with her dad from Gotham to Metropolis and enrolls in the high school there where she meets Diana (Wonder Woman) , Jessica (Green Lantern) , Kara (Supergirl) , Zatanna and Karen Beecher-Duncan (Bumblebee) and all of them decide to use there powers to fight crime. It's a pretty good set up and it's one that works for this show since i'm doing this review after the first nine episodes there really hasn't been much of a story but from what i've seen it's episodic.

Starring in the show is Grey Griffin as  Diana Prince / Wonder Woman , Doris Zeul / Giganta and Lois Lane , Tara Strong as Barbara "Babs" Gordon / Batgirl , Harleen Quinzel / Harley Quinn , Barbara Ann "Barbie" Minerva / Cheetah and Esthetician , Nicole Sullivan as Supergirl , Kari Wahlgren as Zatanna "Zee" Zatara / Zatanna , Carol Ferris / Star Sapphire and Lillian Luthor , Myrna Velasco as Jessica Cruz / Green Lantern and Kimberly Brooks as Karen Beecher / Bumblebee and Eliza Danvers.

I know that there's alot more actors in this show but i'm only listing the actors playing the main heroes because i'd be here all day if I listed them all. In terms of what of the actual acting it's not that bad to be honest a few of the actresses appeared in the web series playing the same character so it's great to here there voices. For some reason they replaced the actress who originally played Jessica in the web series and I have no idea why that's the case but her replacement is fairly decent.

The animation for the show is being done by Jam Filled Entertainment who have worked on The Loud House and Final Space to name but a few of there stuff. I'm not going to mention the character designs here because i'm going to be talking about them separately but just in terms of the animation it's really fast and kind of zany which I guess works for a kids show but not really for a superhero show.

When the character designs were first released I full on admit to hating them I very much preferred the designs from the web show since they were much smoother and more pleasing to look at. Over time tho I have come to like these designs since they do make this show stand out from the web series but I don't get why they gave Wonder Woman a darker skin tone tho it just doesn't look right to me.

One of the major issues that I have with the web series is that the villains are treated like the heroes of the show. That is gladly not the case here tho as several times in these nine episodes we see villains act like actual villains even Harley who can be both a hero and villain is acting like a true villain and that for me is a huge plus because then it's not going against there character which while the web series is indeed good it's also something that it's not quite got yet.

The episodes for this show are around eleven minuets in length and they mange to cram quite alot of story in that time frame. There are times were I wished that this series had a longer run time because there are times where the story gets rushed to fit in the run time even if it's just by a couple of minuets it would really help but sadly Cartoon Network likes to make these quarter hour shows and that doesn't always work.

As with alot of Cartoon Network shows this one also has a bunch of shorts being released all the time however what makes me mention them here is the fact that not only did the shorts premier BEFORE the actual series but some of them might actually contain spoilers for the show. I get why they released the first one with Teen Titan's Go! To The Movies because it would get people talking about the show but they really didn't need to release anymore until after the show started airing.

Unlike a lot of Cartoon Network action shows which don't really like to show you the action this one does it whenever it can and I have to say that the action is honestly pretty good. I'm not going to say that it's the best action in animation because it's not but for a cartoon network show it's as good as we are going to get and i'd rather have this show then Teen Titans Go! to be honest and it's not often I say that.

Now I might be wrong here but there seems to be a continuity error at least in terms of the design of Harley Quinn because when she appears briefly in I think episode one , two or three she's seen wearing a get up that looks similar to her design from the Suicide Squad movie. When we see her in episode none tho she's seen wearing her classic Harley Quinn outfit again i'm quite sure if that's a continuity error or not but it's something worth pointing out.

The theme is song shockingly is not "Get Your Cape On! by Jordyn Kane but is actually "Super Life"  by Kay Hanley and Michelle Lewis. I have to say that out of the two songs I personally prefer "Get Your Cape On" just because I feel it suits the DC Super Hero Girls franchise alot better then "Super Life" does but I will admit that the theme song for the series is really good and is a real toe tapper of a song.

Overall if I had to choose between this and TTG i'd choose this because I honestly feel that it's the better made show. That said tho there are some issues with the show and I know that i've not even scratched the surface with them here and i'm sure more will pop up in future episodes and so this series gets a 6 out of 10 from me.

How The Disney Star Wars Era Is Failing

This is something which does sadden me to say but the Disney era of Star Wars movies aren't that good and this is coming from someone who owns a copy of The Force Awakens. This is sadly a fact that we must all come to terms to with and while I alot of people have covered this in the past it's something that i myself want to touch upon since we are months away from the release of The Rise Of Skywalker.

Like many of you I was eagerly awaiting the teaser for the new movie and like many of you i'm sure, I was watching the live stream for the panel when it dropped but here's the thing while the trailer played I wasn't that excited for the movie. Of course I was excited because it's a new Star Wars movie so of course there's going to be some level of excitement but when compared to The Last Jedi or The Force Awakens it just wasn't at that same level.

Alot of this comes down to the fact that we've been getting a new Star Wars movie every single year since The Force Awakens. That's alot of movies and when you factor in the fact that alot of those movies haven't been that good and the fact that there's no story planned out it kind of makes it hard to be excited for what is meant to be your big finale.

The Disney era of Star Wars has been more focused on trying to give us strong female characters which isn't a bad thing but there strong characters just aren't that interesting. Leia is a far more interesting then Rey and Holdo combined and alot of that comes from the fact that she's an interesting character and well written Rey could have been interesting the potential was there for her to be a good character but in The Last Jedi they got so caught up with trying to force an agenda down our throats that they forgot to make Rey interesting.

The same thing goes for Holdo she could have been interesting but because this new era is more focused on agenda pushing then creating interesting characters she just comes of as a pointless character. In all honesty the only female character I like at this point is Rose and I know that's kind of a bad thing to say but I honestly feel that she was the best written female character so far but like the rest of you I do agree that the casino sequence in Last Jedi was pointless.

The marketing for this new series often ranges from great to flat out bad and that is a huge issue for me because how are people meant to get excited when you've not given them a reason to be excited. We had to wait until a few months before Solo was coming out before we even got a teaser for the movie and that was because someone thought it was a bad idea to remove people who are fans of the saga from the director's chair.

Solo should have been a movie for the fans and who else better to direct the movie then two people who are fans but tho since we can't have nice things in this new era they got kicked from the film months into production. So what we got left with was something that in theory should have been good but instead ended up being forgettable at best and since I can't remember a single thing about the movie that's all I have to say.

The first two trilogy's in the saga told one story the fall and rise of Anakin Skywalker guess what this trilogy hasn't done. Yeah think about it we are approaching the end of this trilogy of films and there's no overlapping story arc at all each of the main films feels self contained and for one film that wouldn't be a bad thing but to do it for two movies in a row and with a third one on the way you need to wrap things up and the characters aren't in a place where that can naturally happen.

Just based of the first two films in the main saga I have to say that it's use of legacy characters has had very mixed results because while they were treated well in The Force Awakens in The Last Jedi however it was a different story. Those characters in The Last Jedi felt like they were there just because Lucasfilm thought it would please the fans and while it was good to see Luke and Leia together again both of them had nothing to do in the whole film and since these are important characters not just for the fans but also for the world of Star Wars.

As a fan I will be seeing the final movie when it comes out just to see how the Skywalker saga ends but I won't be hopeful for it being that good.

Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over The Rainbow Review

Anime fans as you may or may not know i'm a huge fan of the Love Live! franchise i've seen every episode of both shows , i've seen the first movie and played the game. So to say I was excited for this movie will be like saying Avengers: Endgame is a good movie and as of a few days ago i had the chance to watch it and i'm not passing it up so here is my review of Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over The Rainbow.

The plot of the movie as far as I can work out is the third years Kanan , Dia and Mari go missing in Italy and it;s up to the rest of the group to find them. Now i'm going to let you all know right now that that plot line is fully resolved within the first hour of the movie with the rest of the movie having to do with one of the girls from Saint Snow wanting to join Aqours. If i'm being honest the first storyline was alot more interesting because it was so different from anything Love Live! has done in the past but for some unknown reason they chose to resolve it early on in favour of a plot line that was better suited for an episode of the show.

The only thing that really ties both plots together is another plot line which sees the six remaining members trying to decide if they want to continue in the group or not. I didn't mention this when I first mentioned the plot because it's something that's only brought up once or twice when in reality if you combined it with the first story with the third years going missing then it would have made for an interesting plot.

Most of the actors who are in this film are returning from the show and so starring in this movie is Ai Furihata as Ruby Kurosawa , Aika Kobayashi as Yoshiko "Yohane" Tsushima , Aina Suzuki as Mari Ohara , Anju Inami as Chika Takami , Arisa Komiya as Dia Kurosawa , Kanako Takatsuki as Hanamaru Kunikida , Nanaka Suwa as Kanan Matsūra , Rikako Aida as Riko Sakurauchi , Shuka Saitō as Yō Watanabe , Asami Tano as Sarah Kazuno and Hinata Sato as Leah Kazuno. In terms of what I thought about the acting it's not that bad but I felt that it could have been better and i'm honestly not sure why that is. There was also a few new characters introduced but as I couldn't find who played them I couldn't list them and the same goes for there acting it could have been so much better.

If you know anything about this franchise then you'll know that the animation was done by Sunrise who have worked on everything to do with Love Live! from the very beginning. The animation here tho to me didn't feel like it belonged in a movie it felt like the kind of animation you'd see in an episode of the show which in some ways is a good thing but in others it's not because if I wanted to see something that looked like an episode of the show i'd load up my season 1 DVD.

There was a Marvel style end credits scene at the end of this movie which if i've read it right means were getting another Love Live! series but I might have read into it wrong. I'd be more then happy for another series if that is the case but I really do think that they should try and mix up the setup a little bit just to keep things fresh like maybe have a few male members in there or have them all be the same age or something like that.

Unlike the previous movie which only featured the main characters this one has a whole bunch of returning characters and that was something that I applaud the film doing. Since in the first movie it felt like it was kind of ashamed to admit that it was based on a TV show where as here it fully embraces it to the point where I have to say that if your not a fan of this franchise then I wouldn't recommend watching this movie.

I also say that you shouldn't watch the movie because the movie really doesn't tell you who the characters are and what there relationship to each other really is. That is something that I could very easily see putting alot of people of but at the same time if your watching this movie and your not a fan then you kind of have yourself to blame really but for myself and alot of fans I can't see this becoming a big issue.

I don't think i'm giving that much away when i;m saying this but this movie really does feel like a good send of for the third years by that I mean they get there chance to say goodbye to there friends and not to choose what they want to do in the future. I will admit that it was a great move on part of the film makers to just have the three older girls leave the group since it was something different but even in this movie it comes almost out of know where.

Incase you haven't noticed yet I prefer the first movie just for the fact that it had one storyline running through it and not three. I cannot stress that enough because it's such a strange thing it would have been ok if this was an anthology movie but it's not so it comes across as rather jarring it honestly feels like the script writer had three different ideas and asked the director which one he liked and instead of choosing one they chose all of them.

In a rather strange move they did what normally would close the movie at the start of it by having a big town wide musical sequence which in all honesty wasn't that bad but it felt like the movie blew it's load to early since whatever happens next is always going to fail in comparison. I will say tho that the songs and the humour of the movie were both pretty spot on I don't know the names but my two favourite songs was the opening number and one of the songs that Saint Snow sings.

Overall I can't say that this is a bad movie because it's really not but at the same time it's not a good one either the only thing I can say for sure is it's better then Tolkien. This movie is by no means better then the first one and it doesn't feel like it's the end of this group of characters so the movie gets a 4.5 out of 10 from me.

Tuca & Bertie Review

Animation fans the folks at Netflix are back with another new animated series and this is a show that i've been looking forward to seeing. I don't know why this is the case but I seem to be the only one talking about this show like i've seen know one in the animation community talking about this show at all and now the show is finally out and I have a feeling that alot more people are going to be talking about the show and so here is my review of Tuca & Bertie.

The premise of the show is two female birds Tuca a cocky and care-free toucan and Bertie an anxious and daydreaming songbird. Live life and get into adventures that involve the workplace , boyfriends and other things. As you might have gussed by how I described the show it's episodic but in this case you might need to watch at least the first few episodes because they do make some call backs which you wouldn't really understand.

I personally love the fact that it's episodic because if it wasn't then alot of the show just wouldn't work. I have to admit tho that it would have been nice if there was a story just because it would make the show more engaging in my opinion but it's not really needed to make this show any good since it's already a really solid show for other reasons.

Starring in the show is Tiffany Haddish as Tuca , Ali Wong as Bertie , Steven Yeun as Speckle , Richard E. Grant as Holland and Tessa Thompson. There's alot more people in this show but for the sake of my own sanity i'm only listing the actors who've appeared in all of the first four episodes since that's what i'm basing this review of.  In terms of what I thought about the acting the main duo of Tiffany and Ali are have such great chemistry together and in my opinion that helps sell the fact there really best friends but sadly tho Steven isn't in that many of the scenes in these episodes so I can't really get a handle on his performance.

Like I said in the intro i've not seen anyone talking about this show at all and I can't see why this is since it has a lot of things that would normally get people talking about it. Like for example it's being made by one of the team behind Bojack Horseman and the fact it's being made by Netflix so you'd think that both of those would be enough to get people talking about the show but sadly it's not and I have idea why.

The only company I found in terms of doing the animation is ShadowMachine who are the company behind The Shivering Truth and Dallas & Robo and in my opinion the show looks alot like Bojack Horseman. That doesn't mean the animation is great tho because at best it's ok it has a very trippy feel to it and that just doesn't work for me personally but I can see it being appealing to fans of Bojack Horseman tho.

Speaking of Bojack this show is made by Lisa Hanawalt who was a production designer and producer on the show. So of course the shows are going to look the same because Bojack is a huge part of her career it seems but I have some sad news for you guys tho she has said that despite the shows looking the same the two will not crossover at all. I do wish tho that this show had a bit of a different look to it just to make it stand out a little bit from Bojack.

This show is made for adults so don't think that just because it's got animals init's main cast that it's for kids because you'd be shocked by the content that's in this show. I will say tho that this show isn't as over the top with it's adult content as I thought it would be if anything it's pretty subtle with it and in my opinion that's a really good thing and it's a very rare thing thing when today every adult show is very upfront with the fact that it's made for adults.

There is one thing about the show which I hate with a burning passion and it's the opening theme song. I honestly make it a habit in this show to skip over the intro because the song is so annoying it has no beat to it and no real lyrics outside of the main characters just saying there name and that's it an intro is supposed to get you hyped for a show not make your ears bleed whoever thought that this was ok should be fired.

This show is ten episodes long with each episode lasting around twenty five to twenty six minuets with each episode telling one whole story which is again something that is kind of rare in animation today and i'm glad that Netflix are keeping this old tradition alive. With that said the pacing for each episode can at times be kind of slow but then there are times where an episode will just fly by so it's hard for me to say that the pacing is either good or bad because it's a bit of both.

This is a comedy and that means we have to talk about the jokes in the show and they are in my opinion one of the best things about the whole show. If your like me you'll find yourself laughing at the very least once or twice an episode which for a ten episode show i'd say is pretty good the jokes aren't just what the characters say or do tho since there's plenty of sight gags which will have people laughing and the fact that a segment in one episode is a musical for no reason and it just works.

Overall i'd say give this show a chance it won't be for everyone but there will be a few people out there who enjoy , it currently has a 100% on RT I wouldn't go that far since I did find a few minor issues with the show but in my opinion it's going to be at least a 9 or a 9.5 out of 10 from me.

Cartoon History Star Wars Special

Cartoon fans today is a very special day for us Star Wars fans because it's May The 4th which is known as Star Wars Day. So to celebrate this day and for one day only i'm resurrecting one of my old series for a special all about the animated shows in the Star Wars universe these shows all range from shows that are no longer canon which is basically everything that was made prior to Disney buying the franchise and shows that are canon which is everything made after Disney bought the franchise, so let's start of at the very beginning with the non canon shows.

Star Wars: Droids / Ewoks

I'm putting these two together because apparently when they aired in America they aired them together as The Ewoks and Droids Adventure Hour. To put it simply these shows were made to capitalise on three popular characters R2-D2 , C-3PO and Wicket all three of which were very popular with young kids and so to reflect that the shows were made for kids. For the Ewoks series they also made some changes to the lore of Star Wars with the Ewoks now being able to talk perfect English which is something I believe started with either the first or second Ewok movie.

For Droids they made the show episodic so you don't really need to have watched the first episode to understand the second. What is interesting tho is that the Ewoks series was one of the earliest writing jobs for writer Paul Dini who would later go on to co-create Harley Quinn. According to my research the Ewoks series is also a follow up of sorts to the Ewok movies I can't say if that's true or not since i've not seen those movies and Droids is set inbetween Episodes 3 and 4 of the main film saga.

Star Wars: Clone Wars

Astonishingly it would take around seventeen years before we'd get another Star Wars animated series and when we did get it it wasn't a full series. In 2003 Cartoon Network released the Genndy Tartakovsky directed Star Wars: Clone Wars were each episode was only a few minuets long and was designed to fill in the gaps between the then upcoming episode 3 and episode 2 of the main series. It's also worth noting that the character of Asajj Ventress actually makes her debut in this series.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

The previous show ended in 2005 with the final episode directly leading into Episode 3 and so it would be three more years until we got another chance to visit a galaxy far far far away. When we did get that chance tho it was worth it because we got Star Wars: The Clone Wars which would last six seasons with the first five all being made and aired before the Disney purchase and airing on Cartoon Network and season six airing on Netflix. This is a rare show in that it was made before the buy out so you could consider alot of it not canon but then there are episodes made after it heck there's even an upcoming final season that's going to be airing on Disney+.

Canon

Star Wars Rebels

Now we enter the era where the shows are indeed canon starting of with the show that directly followed the insanely popular Clone Wars. Like alot of Star Wars animated shows this one is set inbetween episodes of the main saga this time being episodes 3 and 4 unlike The Clone Wars which from what I can gather was popular since episode 1 this show took a bit of time to get popular if i'm right it took most people until season 2 to fully come around to it. This series also spawned Kanan and the book A New Dawn unlike The Clone Wars tho this one only lasted four seasons.

Star Wars Forces of Destiny

Now since we're covering all of the Star Wars animated shows that means I have to talk about a show which is mostly disliked by every Star Wars fan myself included. This show was first announced on April 12th 2017 and had a special preview of April 14th at Star Wars Celebration Orlando what makes this series stand out from the previous two tho it that it's the first 2D animated show since the 2003 Clone Wars show and it's also the first series to be an exclusive web series.

What was a huge selling point for this show was the fact that pretty much all major actors from several Star Wars projects throughout the years all came back to play there characters. It's just a shame that there talents were wasted on this show which as of this writing is still going on even tho the last episode was on May 25th of last year.

Star Wars: Galaxy Of Adventures

I'm going to be keeping this one very brief because there's so little out there about the series but from what I gathered just by glancing at one of the Star Wars wiki pages it's basically a retelling of certain events from the main saga but done for kids. Again as far as I can tell this is still going on and like Forces Of Destiny is made exclusively for Youtube if i'm right this one was made for Star Wars Kids so yeah that's really all I can find on this show.

 Star Wars Resistance

Finally we reach the current Star Wars series which was first announced in 2018 on April 26th with the trademark being done on February 12th. This series is set before The Force Awakens with I believe the last episode of the first series taking place during that movie i'd say that this show uses cell shading for it's main style and unlike The Clone Wars and Rebels this one was influenced by anime and does not have direct involvement from Dave Filoni.
