Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Mystery Of The Cliffs PSA Review

To say that the nineties was the heyday for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be a huge understatement. As not only did they have a very popular animated TV series , three live action movies and a live action TV series which also crossed over with Power Ranger In Space however people really seem to forget or just straight up don't know about all of the more stranger pieces of Turtle media to come out in that decade and well I thought i'd take a look at one of the two live action PSA's that they did and so then join me as I review the PSA that merges THREE piece of turtles media together with the PSA in question being called simply just "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Mystery Of The Cliffs" enjoy.

The plot of this PSA is when Splinter sends the Turtles out into the dessert for some training they discover members of the Foot Clan stealing somethings within the cliffs and have to stop them before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very PSA well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt hat the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very SA was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time it wasn't all that good either as it did a good job of doing whatever it was that it was trying to do but at the same time tho it makes zero sense for the turtles to be out in the dessert in the first place as Splinter doesn't fully explain why he wants them out there in the first place with the dialog explaining it feeling forced as even tho it's meant for us the audience the characters would already know why there out there and so they wouldn't need to repeat it in the first place look fair enough you need to have a reason for these characters to be in this location and this PSA quite clearly didn't have a budget but at the same time tho there should have been a lot more effort into giving this PSA a plot that not only makes sense for the story that there trying to tell but also for the characters as well as the turtles especially the 1980 animated series turtles would never be caught dead in a dessert because there's no way for them to get any Pizza with this PSA's plot feeling like it was written by someone who was only given a brief outline of who the turtles are but quite clearly isn't a fan of them in the first place with the plot of this PSA not really being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this PSA is Cam Clarke as The Voice Of Leonardo and Townsend Coleman as The Voice Of Michelangelo. Also starring in this PSA is Barry Gordon as The Voice Of Donatello , Rob Paulsen as The Voice Of Raphael , Peter Renaday as The Voice Of Splinter and Splinter's Ancestor , David Anthony as Splinter and Splinter's Ancestor , Mark Barrett as Michelangelo , Michael Carpio as A Foot Ninja , Laura Kotecki as Leonardo , Danyol Leon as Donatello , Scott Quintard as A Foot Ninja , James Saba as A Foot Ninja and Danielle Silveira as A Raphael.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very PSA well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very PSA was in all honesty not that bad. Which in this case is something that does make sense as it's actors are quite literally just the same voice actors from the original show all of whom are reprising their roles in this PSA and there for thy would have of course know how best to perform there roles with the in suit actors doing a passable job given not only the suits that they had to work with but also the fact that this PSA had no budget to it but at the same time tho this is quite clearly not the best work from the actors that are reprising their roles as even tho there not sleepwalking through this entire PSA at all it's quite clear just feel lost and unsure of themselves like there not being given the right direction needed and this is something that this PSA's director Jacques Guerin really should have helped them with as that is something that would have made this special all the more watchable then what it already is with the acting that's in this very PSA not really being helped buy the fact that this PSA's scrips is just so bad as it gives none of this PSA's actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very PSA.

For one reason or another the makers of this PSA chose to make Mikey's entire character be about Pizza as that's all he talks about in this PSA. While yes both he and the other turtles love Pizza this is something that we all know but they don't all keep on talking about it all the time as no joke around ninety percent of Mikey's dialog in this PSA is just made up of him talking about Pizza with the other ten percent being made up of nineties catchphrases and it got to the point where I was dreading him having to talk about of the fact that I knew right away what his dialog was going to be about and this is a good example of the makers of this PSA not really being fans of the characters and just being given a very brief outline of who the turtles are as no self respecting turtles fan would just have the characters talking about Pizza and having the one turtle that alot of nineties kids loved become so annoying in this one PSA that you actively dread having to hear him talk because you know where his dialog is going to go and while yes it would have been hard to get people who are adults and who are fans of the original animated series turtles to write this PSA as they more then likely didn't exist but at the same time you could have gotten advice from the makers of that show on how to write for the characters or even perhaps watched one of the shows episodes just something would have done as then you would know that Mikey doesn't talk about Pizza in every other sentence but that would mean that the makers of this special would actually have to do the work to understand these characters which is something that they just didn't do and that is something that you can tell just by the way that they handled not only Mikey but the rest of the characters as well.

Believe it or not not only is the not the first live action turtles PSA but also this PSA actually combines THREE elements from other turtles media as we have the voice actors from the original show all of whom are reprising their roles for this PSA but we also have the music from the firs two live action films and we have the suits from the The Coming Out Of Their Shells Tour as well. Which is just weird and yet at the same time oddly awsome to see as well as one of the things that people love about the first two live action films was the music and the suits from the tour is one of the best things about the tour and the fact that they got the original actors back does lend the project some legitimacy to the project but all it does is remind you of those other projects and it makes you wonder the makers of this PSA went this route as they could have put together some cheaply made turtle suits or gone the Operation Blue Line route and have the suit mascots be the suits used in this special and they could have come up with an original score instead of sourcing it from somewhere else but in saying that the disco type version of the nineties movie theme song that they play over the end credits was pretty good and the makers of this PSA did know when to use a creepy piece of music from either film but again tho hearing these tracks play over a scene with the tours suits just feels weird somehow as at the very least with the Operation Blue Line PSA they used there own score and had there own suits whilst also oddly enough using the original series actors.

Perhaps the smartest thing that the makers of this PSA did was have Donatello be the one that spouts out all of the information by why us the audience should want to preserve these old buildings in the mountains. As that is something that is perfect for his character as he is meant to be the smart one of the group and so of course he would be the one to listen the hardest when Splinter is telling it to them in the first place which makes it all the more weird when both Mikey and Raph pick on Leo for not remining them about it when all they have to do is ack Donatello who is standing quite literally a few feet away from them in the first place and while this is understandable given that it is a PSA alot of his dialog is all about trying to save the things that are to be found in these maintains which does make sense given that this is a PSA but at the same time you don't need to keep on going on about it as mentioning it once or twice would have hit the mark all the same but given that this PSA was made for little kids it does also make sense that Donatello would keep on going on about it as that's who he's trying to get through to at the end of the day and having him be the one to tell all of the turtles these facts about the maintains that there in does oddly enough make alot of sense and is actually the only thing that's in this PSA that actually does make sense as alot of it is just weird at best and at it's worst just feels like the people that are making this PSA are trying to hard to make a good turtles product instead of actually making a good piece of turtles media in the first place.

In what is both an understandable and yet at the exact same time baffling reason this PSA dedicated about four to five minuets at the end very end just to telling us why we the audience should want to see these old mountain buildings be kept as they are. This is baffling in the sense that they just dedicated the first twelve minuets of the PSA to exactly that and now after the end credits have finished there now doing a more shortened version of it which is something that really doesn't make any kind of sense whatsoever as no kid is going to willingly watch an additional five minuets of this PSA tape as it's telling them things that just don't interest them but to play devils advocate here it does also make sense to do exactly that as it does give you information about what you should do should you see someone trying to take something from them and it tells you where they either are or now where as well why alot of that really couldn't have been covered in the main PSA tho remains a mystery in it's own right as those are things that Splinter surely would have told the turtles before they left to go into the dessert and heck given that we also see members of The Foot Clan stealing things from one of these buildings it also would have been oddly relevant to the main plot as well with it being tacked on at the very end it only makes it feel like that it was something that the makers of this PSA forgot to do whilst filming it and so they just stuck it on at the end and had Barry Gordon do voice over over a couple of still images and called it a day which if that is the case is just a lazy to it as it is something that could have been worked into the main plot of the actual PSA itself.

Now then this PSA has/ had an exact grand total running time of exactly nineteen minuets and forty four seconds. Which is a fairly solid running time for this PSA to have but in saying that this PSA really doesn't have alot of plot there to really cover that amount of running time as by all rights this PSA's plot only about should have been ten minuets long and no more then that with both the end credits and the after credits speech from Donatello eating up alot of the PSA's running time with this not really being helped by the fact that it doesn't even use it's running time all that wisely either as nothing be it from the plot to the characters is particularly fleshed out which is to be expected as these were never meant to be seen by alot of people apart from kids in schools and that's really it but at the same time tho even PSA's should have fully fleshed out out plots look at another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles PSA called "Cartoon All Stars To The rescue" as a prime example of that as while yes it was still trying to get across a very important message it still took the time to fully develop it's plot and characters to the point where you want to care about them and where you want to see them succeed here tho because neither is fully fleshed out us the audience can't care for either the plot or it's characters as the SA doesn't really give us a reason to care form them outside of the fact that there characters from a hugely successful TV show and that's really it but I really will admit that this PSA really does does have some really pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in tis very PSA well then in all honesty I in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very SA was in all honesty not that good. With nothing that the turtles say being particularly funny or clever either with them instead just feeling like that the writers of this PSA  were trying to hard to be funny and clever where as the turtles from the original eighties TV series just were and while yes they were goofy and silly it was that exact goofiness and silliness that not only made them enduring but also both funny and likable where as here because of the fact that the characters aren't being goofy and silly there not that enduring and there not the funny with the only funny thing in this whole PSA not even being something that the turtles said or did as just before they are about to fight the members of The Foot Clan the PSA does a random scene transition to after the fight which is only funny as it makes you realise just how cheaply made this PSA was and heck even the The Coming Out Of Their Shells Tour which was still done pretty cheap still managed to have a fight scene with the turtles , shredder and the foot clan and yet this special couldn't afford to have the four or five Foot Clan actors be involved in a fight scene with the turtles and that is the best joke and it's not even something that the turtles as all it does is put emphasis on just how cheaply made and how quickly thrown together that this PSA was of that is the best joke in this whole entire PSA as the thing as a whole just isn't that funny in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this PSA does get credit for having turtle suits that has mouths that actually open and partly close the better live action PSA has to be Operation Blue Line just because of the fact that we get to the turtles out of New York and in LA for literally no good reason whatsoever where as here there's nothing that's all that redeemable about this PSA as it's just that bad and is better left forgotten about in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very PSA in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very PSA really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 3 out of 10 from me.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1987 TV Series "Plan Six From Outer Space" Review

While there have been quite a few animated TV shows featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles it's the 1987 series that is remembered alot more. With that being due to the fact that for many myself included it was the show that not only introduced them to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but it was also the version of the characters that they grew up with and since it's really been a while since I last reviewed an episode of the show I thought that now was the right time to take another look at an episode from the classic series and sot then join me as I review as the episode that sees Raphael break the fourth wall with the episode in question being called simply just "Plan Six From Outer Space" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when The Shredder and Krang send Bebop and Rocksteady down to earth from Dimension X to help get them the Channel 6 news building so that they can use it's equipment to get back to earth it's up to the turtles to stop them and there robotic Splinter before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time tho this episodes plot wasn't all that particularly good either as all it was was basically just a set up for the "Vacations In Europe" episodes which where produced for season 4 and take place during season 4 but didn't air until season 7 with this episodes plot being something that is solid enough for this era of the show but at the same time tho given that the live action movie had just came out and had shown kid audiences what a more mature take on the turtles could look like it's weird that this show would just go straight back to sticking with what worked before it with this episode as while yes granted this episode and this season would have been produced sometime before the movie there still should have been some effort to tell a more mature story but do it in a way that works with the 1987 series with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Which is something that's to be expected at this point in time as all of this episodes had been playing there respective characters for the best part of four years at the point in time and there for it would make alot of sense that they really would know how best to perform there characters as well with this really being helped by the fact that all of this episodes actors are a bunch of really good actors in there own right and therefor would be turn in a good performance anyways with even the likes of both Rob Paulsen and Townsend Coleman being voice acting legends with this episode really being a tour de force for actors Cam Clarke and Barry Gordon with both of them really being the true standouts of the episode from an acting point of view as both actors have alot of screen time and really have to carry the whole entire episode as both Bebop and Rocksteady something that surely couldn't have been a really easy task to do from an acting perspective with this episodes really being helped by the fact that the script for this episode is just so good that all this episodes actors really have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance really will come out of them naturally something which does really help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Doing the animation for this episode is either Hanho Heung-Up Company , Island Animation , Luk Film , Pacific Rim Production , Varga Studio and Wang Film Productions Company. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good as even tho it was hard to say which animation company actually did the animation for this episode the quality of the animation was still really high a a late eighties or early nineties TV show and while the animation could have been alot more better in other places there really wasn't any of the series trademark animation errors that plagues the first few episodes of this show but at the same time this episodes animation also quite clearly wasn't the series best looking animation as alot of it just felt like that the animators where just putting only the bare minimum and really nothing more then that as there are shots in this episode where the characters either look like that there on dr*gs or are dead inside and those are issues that really could have been fixed if the artist working on them at the time did another drawing of the scene in question and by the fact that they didn't does say that the whoever was doing the animation whilst they were doing a good job in some places weren't doing a good job in other places as well.

In what was a really strange and bizarre move this episode actually sees Raphael break the fourth wall at least twice in the episode. With the first one being a little bit more subtle as after saying something about a sausage factor he then asks for no one to ask him to say that again but the second one is just straight up not subtle as it's just him having a rant about the writer of the episode not coming up with something original for the turtles to do other then look for pepperoni which just felt so out of place not only for this show but for the character as well as while they were some really funny things to have the character say in the episode neither the character nor the show had really broken the fourth wall yet and as a result of that is the fact that it was strange to see the opening episode of the fourth season of this show do exactly that and while the first one was a bit more subtle as it could be read as the character asking his brothers not to ask him say something that is a it of tongue twister but the second instance is without the shadow of a doubt the character breaking the fourth wall and it's something that really fits this character as this version of the character wouldn't do something like that as neither he nor any of the other characters in this show no that there fictional characters and while it is something that this show could do due to it's more lighthearted approach to the source material and characters from a character point of view it's not something that really makes a whole lot of sense in anyway shape or form.

As was mentioned at the start of this review this episode this episode basically serves as the start for the "Vacations In Europe" episodes from season seven. As the turtles have a few scenes spread throughout the episode where they express there desire to take a vacation somewhere in europe something that they do get to do at the end of episode and yet even tho those batch of thirteen episodes where produced for and are set during this season of the show they for some strange reason aired during the shows seventh season which makes no sense as now this season is without a hook for the rest of the season when it would have made perfect sense to have them air right after this episode and as this episode and a batch of other episodes from this season aired in syndication then the makers of this show could have had them air daily for about a month or two before then going to back to the rest of the episodes that were planned for this season instead of creating a mixed chronology of events where now certain episodes that aired during season 7 now actually took place three years prior to the rest of the season and while they could fix that by having story beats that are payed of in season 7 first get mentioned and set up during those holiday episodes that's not really something that this show had done before now and as a result of that is the fact that it wouldn't make sense for them to do for these batch of episodes either when all they had to do was just air those holiday episodes the day after this episode first aired in syndication.

While this episode does introduce the idea of the turtles having to fight of some sort of clone version of Splinter. The episode really doesn't go all they way with it by having the real Splinter not only meet his robotic self but also have a fight with him or even have the turtles discuss the idea of fighting who they believe to be there father something that would have brought them alot of pain to do and yet the second that the fake Splinter starts acting hostile towards them there ready to go into an fight with him which does seem out of character even for this version of the characters and yet if the makers of this show even took the time to have the turtles discuss if they really should be fighting Splinter first before then going to attack him then it would show that while yes they are willing to fight him there doing it because of the fact that it's right thing to do even tho it's something that could be killing them inside and even if they didn't go that route and instead went the route of having both versions of Splinter meet up either in New York City itself or even in the layer and have those two fight that is something that could be alot of fun for us the audience to watch and it would give Splinter something to do other then show up every now and then which is something that does end up happening in this episode either one would have worked because it would have been using that idea of having a robotic Splinter be used in the right way instead of having the character appear in what could be seen as being some really comedic scenes and that's really it.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty two minuets and twenty six seconds. So now then as this an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us un this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As alot of this show action is usually pretty goofy and lighthearted with the focus more being on the comedy aspect of things then the action side of the things and while the same thing is also true here as well this episodes action just felt off somehow like it was a bit to goofy and was playing things a bit to safe which is still fine as this is a kids show after all but at the same given that this episode has two action scenes and it's oddly enough the one with the robot clone version of Splinter that's more fun to watch then the actual final fight with Bebop and Rocksteady as at least with the Splinter fight we do get see the turtles fighting in public and using a van as a weapon and we get to see the turtles be forced to think on there feet to try and get even so much as hit in on him which does make that fight scene all the more fun to watch where as with the Bebop and Rocksteady fights it's confined to this one small room with the turtles not even having to try very hard to outwit either Bebop or Rocksteady which just makes that fight comes across as feeling forced and is also a fight scene that could also be seen as also being really rushed as all heck as well as it's one that only happens in quite literally the final few minuets of the show which just makes it all the more worse out of this episode two action scenes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst this episode gets it's title from one of the worst films ever made this episode is actually not that bad but at the same it's quite clearly not all that good either as it just gives the same stuff that worked before in the show with nothing really new added it and that is something that does hold this episode back from being a great episode to watch for both kids and adults as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now the  i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a gran old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1987 TV Series "It Came From Beneath The Sewers" Review

 

The Ninja Turtles franchise is one that will just keep on going and going and has been going and going for many decades. With the animated series that made it popular to being with being the 1987 animated series as that series introduced alot of things that we all know and love about the franchise and well since it'as been a long time since I last reviewed an episode of the show and so then join me as I review the episode that is really pretty violent with the episode in question being called simply just "It Came From Beneath The Sewers" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when the Turtles and April go hunting for pieces of an Alien key that hold untold power The Shredder unleashes a deadly plant to take care of the Turtles and April for once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as it was the kind of plot that you'd expect to find in this show but at the same time it was perhaps a bit to campy for it's own good with the episodes plot at times feeling alot more like a parody of what a plot from this show was and like but at the same time I really will admit that the plot of this episode was at times really rather entertaining and really engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. With the cast members that you expect good performances from well and truly delivering in this episode but at the same time the acting that we got in this episode just felt lackluster when compared to over episodes not that it was bad but rather the acting was just missing that extra special something that alot of the acting in other episodes of this show have with this not really being helped by the episodes script which just felt like that it was going through the motions and not really giving the cast a whole to work with interms of what there respective characters personalities even are or meant to be be for that matter.

Doing the animation for this episode is of course the legends and the greats that are currently over at A-1 Productions. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as while we did get some animation errors as is sadly very typical for this show the overall quality of the animation was really high and was of really high quality with the episodes animation really being alot better then what it really had any right to be as the episodes animation really fun to look at and had a some really good colors to it with the characters also really having some really nice and fluid movements to them as well.

What really does let this episode down is it's resolution as the episode has Splinter say generic stuff which the Turtles then somehow interpret in him giving them helpful advice on how to defeat the evil plant.Which just doesn't work as Splinter would give his sons actual helpful advice and wouldn't just say the most generic and at times rather confusing things as that's not in his character to do that as he would always help people out if they truly needed his help much like his sons did here in this episode and that is something that the makers of this episode just didn't understand as they barely use the character when the character would logically be used when we do see him in this episode he's on screen for a really very short amount of time and he more often then not really adds nothing to the overall plot of the episode when he's a main character of the show.

The idea of having a giant killer plant is an idea that's perfect for this show as it is something that is wonderfully campy and wonderfully bizarre. The idea really isn't fully developed in this episode as the plant really isn't set up all that well as we never get to find out what it s that makes the plant grow in the first place and while we do get to see where the plant came from we aren't given a reason as to why it's evil with it instead just attacking the Turtles and April for no reason other then because The Shredder told it to which does make sense as The Shredder is the show ultimate bad guy it doesn't really work well with The Shredders plans at all as his plan to steal apart of this key relies on the Turtles not knowing that he's going after it and yet he has a giant plant that's really only attacking people because he told it to and this is something that could have been fixed by having Baxter Stockman be the one that's controlling the plant and not The Shredder.

April in this episode really wasn't the smartest person as for no reason whatsoever even tho she knows that the Turtles would always want to meet her in there lair she follows a letter to a disused warehouse just because someone signed it from the turtles. While it is understandable why she followed that letter she's been around the turtles for quite a while now and would there for know that they wouldn't just leave a letter that they've signed out in the open where anybody could see it especially as she has her turtlecom with her at all tines and as such the turtles would most likely use that to get in touch with her with this not really being helped that like with Splinter she really doesn't really have a whole lot to do in this episode as really her only purpose in the plot of the episode is just to get captured and that's really it which granted is pretty much her role in the show as a whole it's really something that really is an issue here as she could have used her sources at the news station to help the turtles out and heck she even could have asked Irma who was right there in her apartment with her to see if she's heared anything about what's going on but she doesn't do that at all.

Now then this episode has /had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty two minuets and sixteen seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for this show to have and to this episodes credit it does make the most of that running time but at the same time this episode really didn't need to be that long as the episode really doesn't have alot of plot there to really cover that large amount of running time and as a result of this is the fact that we get some scenes that add nothing to the overall plot of the episode with the worst offender being the fact that we a good few minuets of a scene with the turtles being a clown act for the local circus and it's something that's never brought up ever again in the episode which made that whole sequence pointless and it could have been cut out of the whole entire but I will admit that this episode really does have really good pacing to it tho. 

So now then as this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual actin that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty just as fun as you'd want it to be. With the action in this episode also being just as over the top as you'd want it to be as well with the the turtles having to go rather over the top in both of their fights against the giant mutant plant which just made both of those fights really fun to watch with the same thing also being true for there fight with The Shredder which was really just so fun to watch and also really creative to watch as well and that really did help up the overall quality of the action in this episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this was a perfectly fun episode it's also one that took the overall campyness of the show a bit to extreme despite being a perfectly good example of just how fun and over the top that this show can be in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then iv'e talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1987 TV Series Animated TV Series "Get Shredder" Review

 

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a franchise that has spawned many animated TV series over the decades but none ae quite as popular as the one from 1987. However with high there most come a low and well then i've seen the episode that I believe marks the down fall for this particular incarnation of the turtles and so then join me as I review the episode that introduced a new sky color , new tone and whole host of new things into this series with the episode in question being called simply just "Get Shredder" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is the turtles are hunting down Shredder and Krang when a new villain emerges one that will test the brothers like they've never been tested before. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty decent at best since this episodes plot does somewhat explain the red sky in this episode and this episodes episodes plot is also somewhat epic as well but it's also clearly not the franchises best plot either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Also starring in this episode is Townsend Coleman as Michelangelo and The Car Thief Boss , Rob Paulsen as Raphael and The First Thug , Peter Renaday as Splinter and Vernon Fenwick , Renae Jacobs as April O'Neil , Pat Fraley as Burne Thompson and Krang , Bill Martin as The Shredder and Jim Cummings as Drakus / Berserko.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. Altho you can quite clearly tell that the actors have lost all passion for playing these characters and the actor that they got to play The Shredder is just up bad since it's a really bad voice and this kind character really did deserve alot better then this kind of performance.

Doing the actual animation for this episode is I think the legends and the greats that are currently over at Daewon Media and G & M Productions. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good and is easily the best part of the episode however I really did notice some animation errors which really did bring down the overall quality of the animation that's in this very episode for me personally in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

For some strange reason the producers of this show chose to change this show from something that's more lighthearted to something that's more action heavy. With this new version of the show taking inspiration from both the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and Batman: The Animated Series amongst over things which isn't a bad idea except they've just spent several years just doing there own thing and not now there trying to copy something that's just as successful as this show once was and it just doesn't work.

Not only did this show change it's tone but it also changed it's theme song and intro which I actually didn't mind. Since the song itself isn't that bad but the intro itself is just lazy as all heck since it's just stock images from the show mixed in with scenes from the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live action movie and nothing more then that to contrast this with the original intro which had original animation made just for that intro and it works so much better because it matches with the song alot better and it makes the show all the more fun to watch which just simply isn't the case with this intro at all.

From this episode all this episode all the way up until the shows final episode are known as the "Red Sky Seasons" because for some strange reason all of the outside scenes in these episodes now have a red sky instead of either blue or black. Which is something that was clearly taken from Batman: The Animated Series however in that show since it was a new show it didn't distract the viewer since that show was still creating it's tone where as here in this show it's distracting because the viewer just ONE episode ago had seen the sky as they were really used to on this show.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty three minuets and thirty twos seconds. Which is far to long for a story like this one to last since at it's core this episode has enough story for roughly ten minuets fifteen minuets at a stretch but not a full twenty three minuets and not helping things is the fact that the main bad guy of this episode is introduced halfway into this episode and so he's not built up properly because there just simply isn't enough time to do his character any kind of justice whatsoever.

So now then since this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Since for the most part the action is genuinely entertaining and while the fight with The Shredder could have been better the ending explosion of the Channel 6 news building really more then makes up for it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall it really doesn't take much to see why this episode marks the downfall for this show since everything bout this episode is just lacking since even when this show had bad episodes it was still entertaining and that's just not the case with this episode at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode erns itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1987 Animated Series "April Fool" Review

 

Turtles like i'm sure alot of you I grew up watching the the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series. As such I thought that it would be interesting to take a look back at one of the shows episodes mostly because over the years the show has become known more for it's errors and I wanted to see if I could spot any in this episode as such here is my review of the episode "April Fool" which is from season 3 and if episode 11 of the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated show and so enjoy the review.

The plot of the episode is April is going to a posh party and so Irma gets her dressed up as a princess meanwhile Shredder tries to get his hand on some valuable science stuff and mistakes April for a real princess and so it's up to the turtles to stop him before it's to late. Plot wise as to be expected from this show the story was pretty thin but to me that's part of this show charm since it then allows for the characters to interact with each in a more natural way but at the same time I would have liked it if the story was better.

Starring in the episode is Cam Clarke as Leonardo and Rocksteady , Barry Gordon as Donatello and Bebop , Townsend Coleman as Michelangelo and Rob Paulsen as Raphael and Second Malacurian Guard. Also starring in the episode is Peter Renaday as Splinter and First Malacurian Guard , Renae Jacobs as April O'Neil and Princess Mallory , Jennifer Darling as Irma , Uncle Phil as Shredder and Pat Fraley as Krang and Emperor Aleister.

I will fully admit I had no idea what to expect from this episode acting wise as such I found the acting to be at best OK. Which really does pain me to say since like I said I grew up with this show but I have to be fair and that does mean finding bad things in things that I love and one of those things is the acting in the episode which yes for the time isn't bad but when you compare these performers to other actors who have played these roles in animated form then these actors come of looking bad which is a shame because these guys had to build up all the characters personalities from the ground up.

Now then since this show had alot of different animation studios working on it for each season and I cannot find who did the animation for season three so i'm just not gonna look further into it. As for what I thought about the animation it was honestly really good at least for the time that the show was being made and given that alot of the shows made around this time had fairly average to bad animation to see a show where the animation was actually good is a good thing.

There is one scene in this episode which is really freaking trippy and that's the scene where the turtles enter the party threw the window. Since the party there going to is a costume we see costumes such as Superman and Batman which is fine but then we see someone came dressed as one of the Ninja Turtles which is just so freaking weird to see and it makes you wonder why the turtles tried to break into the party when they could have just walked in through the front door.

There is no way in hell I could talk about any episode from this show and not talk about the fact that in several countries around the world including my home country the UK this show isn't known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but is instead known as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles. The reasoning behind this has something to do with the word Ninja apparently people thought that an action show with the word Ninja in the title would cause kids to do some Ninja stuff which is just stupid as all hell and it didn't end with the show either since the first movie over here in the UK was called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles as well.

I will say that this episode is pretty predictable I straight up called one of the plot points in the episode which is never a good thing. I say that because if you can very easily say what that plot point is then it makes the episode predictable and boring to watch which should never be the case you should always never see the plot point coming as it keeps things interesting and thus makes the episode alot more fun to watch.

As the title would suggest this is an April centric episode and for once we actually see her out of her banana outfit. Which yeah is a good thing because my god does April look hot as a princess but even tho it's an April centric episode we don't really get to find out that much about the character which is a shame but given it's about Ninja Turtles and not about her I guess it makes sense but at the same time there's no need to put her name in the title if the episode isn't going to be that much about her but the title did make for a nice pun.

Speaking of the comedy since this version of the turtles leaned more on the comedy it makes sense that I talk about the comedy in this episode. Which I really fell is the episodes weakest aspect since alot of the jokes were made at April's expense which just made the turtles and Splinter seem like d**ks and they just weren't funny but Michelangelo being able to sniff out pizza is something that is both funny and is actually in character.

Now then boys and girls this is also an action show and so that means that we have to talk about the action that's in this episode. Which I honestly feel is the episodes strongest point since the action is really fun to see and is in my opinion when the animation truly comes alive which makes sense since it is an action show and so that's where you want your best animation to go and it helps that they give the turtles some really cool action moments.

Overall yeah this was a pretty bad episode but the issues that I had with the episode could also be given to every episode of this show' Like I said several times there are some good things in this episode there's just not as many when you stack them up against the bad things which is a shame because when this episode wants to be fun it can be a fun episode as such this episode gets a 7.5 out of 10 from me and all the images that I used in this review were gathered from either Google Images or the official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fandom wiki page
