When people think of famous cartoon duos one of the duos that nearly alot of people think of is Sylvester and Tweety. With it not really being that hard to see why as the characters are pretty much just Tom And Jerry but instead of it being a cat and a mouse and it's now a cat and a bird and well by happenstance I was watching one of there cartoons the over day and thought that this would make a great review and so join me as I review the cartoon that sees Sylvester get squashed by a tree with the cartoon in question being called simply just "Tweet Tweet Tweety" enjoy.
The plot of this cartoon is Tweety has to try to fend of a hungry Sylvester all the while The Park Ranger is trying to stop Sylvester from eating Tweety. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very cartoon well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very cartoon was in all honesty really good. Whilst yes this cartoons plot is really thin this is something that could be the case for alot of the Looney Tunes cartoon as alot of them just have the basic set up and that's really it and to be fair that's all that this cartoon needs it just needs the set up of why these characters are chasing each other. It would be like if people complained that the Tom And Jerry cartoons had little plot it just wouldn't be right as alot of the fun of not only those cartoons but also this cartoon is seeing the characters hurt each other and whilst having a more stronger plot line would always get in the way of that sometimes having a more thinly drawn out plot where you just have the basic set up and nothing more then that works just as well as that then allows for the characters to be there natural fun and charming selves, which is something that a more stronger plot could get in the way off as the cartoon would have to stop the comedy moments to move forward a plot and while characters like Bugs and Daffy for example can get away with having more plot driven cartoons Sylvester and Tweety can't as there whole deal is Sylvester getting hurt in more out landish ways and whilst yes granted this cartoon would work just as well if it did have a more stronger plot as we don't even find out why Sylvester is at the park in the first place it's also something that wasn't needed to make the cartoon work as a whole with the plot of this cartoon also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Starring in this cartoon is the great Mel Blanc as all of the characters altho this time he is joined by another actor who isn't listed on IMDB. With Mel being in more of the cartoon as he voices Sylvester , Tweety and The Park Ranger and yet even knowing that was doing all of the male characters voices barring Elmer Fudd at this time you really can't tell that they are all being played by the actor as all of them do have very distinct voices to them altho to be fair there is a little bit of Yosemite Sam in the voice of The Park Ranger which is something is oddly perfect for that character as the character is meant to have a commanding almost explosive voice to him, there for having a slight Yosemite Sam voice does match with that character and while it would have been great to have another actor in a major role in this cartoon your never going to top what Mel can and does do with these truly iconic characters. The voices for both Sylvester and Tweety work so well as like the voice of The Park Ranger they have voices that fit there characters with Sylvester having a voice that is a little bit more rough round the edges if you will with almost being like a Daffy Duck type of voice even down to both of them spitting but it's a voice that your never going to confuse with Daffy's and with Tweet he has a voice that is a little bit more softer and is more baby like in nature think of it as being like the voice of a baby bird if it was real and you pretty much have Tweety's voice voice down perfectly and while it can be seen as being to cute ad wholesome for some it is a voice that does fit with this character and this is something that Mel Blanc was very good at doing as he always knew just what kind of voice to give his characters and it's a skill that does work in this cartoon.
Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very cartoon well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very cartoon was in all honesty really good. The fact that this cartoon does have some really good actin in it is something that is not really all that surprising as anyone who has seen any one of the classic Looney Tunes shorts will tell you that Mel Blanc was a really good actor and therefor of course he will be good in this cartoon as he originated these characters and gave them each a voice therefor he would of course no how best to perform as each character. It does go without saying as he is the only credited actor in this cartoon but the best actor in this cartoon is quite easily Mel Blanc as even tho the whole cartoon is just him talking to himself all of the time you never really get that impression as alot of the time you are just engaged with his performance as these characters with this being something that does make alot of sense as he did originate these characters and was the only voice of them for decades and yet even so he still does give them alot of energy with it being pretty obvious that he did have alot of fun in making this cartoon and the amount of fun and care that he put into giving the characters life in the first place is still there in this cartoon and that is something that does make his performance in this cartoon all the more fun to watch in the first place with that level of fun and energy being something that really does come through in his final performance. With the acting that's in this very cartoon really being helped by the fact that this cartoons script is just so good that all this cartoons actor has to do is just say the lines as they are they are written and a good performance will come out of him naturally.
Doing the animation for this cartoon is Ken Champin , Arthur Davis , Manuel Perez , Virgil Ross and Harry Love. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very cartoon well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very cartoon was in all honesty really good. This is something that is kind of to be expected alot of the Looney Tunes cartoons from this era having some really nice looking animation to them and while characters movements in this cartoon aren't as fluid as they perhaps could have been the animation on the whole was of a really high quality. The thing that really stood out tho from an animation point of view was the backgrounds by Paul Julian as these do look like backgrounds that you'd want to see in a feature length animated film as they look good heck they look better then alot of the backgrounds in todays cartoons as there is some life in these backgrounds and they aren't just bland and generic ones that we see today with all of the background in this cartoon looking like that they could belong in a painting as they just look that good this is not to take away from the rest of the cartoons animation tho as even tho the characters movements aren't as fluid as they could have bee when it comes to animating the cartoons jokes that is where the animation really does work as they get the timing right on all of the jokes with this being something that does make what could have been seen as a being a really fully joke now land hard because of the fact that the makers of this cartoon took the time to animate those extra few seconds that they needed to make it work in the first place.
As was stated at the start of this review this cartoon like alot of the Sylvester and Tweety cartoons are basically just Warner Bros answer to the older Tom And Jerry cartoons. As both cartoon feature a cat chasing a small rodent in this case to eat him and in the case of Tom And Jerry it's either to eat him or to get him out of the house with the smaller rodent getting revenge and outwitting the bigger animal in more funny and cartoonish ways with the only difference being the fact that while this cartoon doesn't really show that much of the violence or at the very least the more violent acts Tom And Jerry would show those acts and yet at the same time even tho you don't get to see the pin hitting Sylvester you know that it's happened. This is something that des make you wonder if MGM knew full well that they were good as well ripping of Tom And Jerry as it is quite obvious once you watch this cartoon that that's what there doing and while they aren't mean about it as they never make fun of Tom And Jerry it is something that once you notice it you can't unsee it and while ripping of Tom And Jerry does make alot of sense as they were quite big characters at the time it also does make you wonder why Warner Bros decided to rip them of instead of thinking up of an original idea as that is something that would have made this cartoon stand out a little bit more and while the cartoon isn't harmed by being a Tom And Jerry ripoff it would have helped all the more of they tried to find a new and creative idea for the Sylvester and Tweety characters as they could have done something like having Tweety being the villain by having his smaller self be a way to trick people into doing what he wants and when he comes up against Sylvester Tweety can't trick up and Sylvester ends up getting his own back in comical ways or they could have had Sylvester trying to sell off Tweety yes it's not a good idea but it is still an original idea.
This cartoon was actually alot more better then what it really cold have been as while the episode does have a rather simple plot. The cartoon isn't held back by that rather it's pushed forward by it as not all cartoons need to have these deep plots as alot of the time they just need to be vehicles for the jokes with that being something that is very much the case with this cartoon as this cartoon is allowed to be all the more fun and funny due to the fact that there less of a focus on plot and more of a focus on comedy and while the cartoon isn't as violent as the typical Tom And Jerry cartoon is heck you might even say that this cartoon is a more kid friendly version of a Tom And Jerry cartoon but it doesn't really need to be that violent it just needs to be funny and that's it. That being said tho there are some bad things to be found in the cartoon like for the example the cartoon never really takes the time to explain why The Park Ranger wants Sylvester to not eat Tweety in the first place which is something that the cartoon really could have explained as that is kind of a key plot point in the episode with the cartoon also never explaining why Sylvester is at the park in the first place it just starts out with him being there and while the cartoon doesn't need to explain why he was there in the first it is something that would have made sense as it could have tied into The Park Ranger as for all we could know Sylvester is there working at the park in the first place both of these are things that the cartoon could have explained with the first one being explained just by having a sign saying don't the birds and the second one could be explained by having Sylvester in a park rangers uniform, while yes granted the cartoon isn't harmed by them not explaining these things as they are small issues that don't harm the cartoon on the whole they are still things that could have been addressed by the makers of this cartoon in the first place as they would have made the cartoon itself be all the more tighter.
To give the cartoon some more credit we do get to see just how far Sylvester is willing to go for his launch. Die too the fact that when he first sees Tweety's egg unhatched he decides to hatch it himself by sitting on it which is a good idea as it does show us that he is willing to go to extreme lengths just to get some breakfast or lunch yet it is the only smart thing that he does in the cartoon with Sylvester not really being the smartest in the episode which fair enough was always going to be the case as it was done in service of the jokes but there still could have been some effort to show being a smart of Wile Coyote was in his first cartoon as that would make his down fall be all the more funny and while he was never the smartest tool in the shed Sylvester never really knows when to give up either. This is somethin that again we see all throughout the cartoon and its something that really does work for the cartoon as it does allot for some pretty fun and unique visuals and while of course we know that he will never eat Tweety the fact that he does so close to doing exactly that several times in this one cartoon alone doe show us the audience that he is a a solid if goofy villain that is perfect for Tweety as of course he'd always want to get away from me and heck thinking on it Tweety is the only character that someone like Sylvester could work with as you can't pair him up with Bugs as Bugs would be demolish him in seconds flat and you can't pair him up with any of the other bigger Looney Tunes characters either as the character just isn't that strong but if you pair him with Tweety that's when you get to this character at his best and that is something that does nearly always result in comedy gold from not only him but Tweety as well as they both get something out of the partnership.
Now then this cartoon has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly seven minuets and two seconds. Which to be fair to this cartoon was pretty much the bogstandard running time for alot of cartoon from around this same time period and to be fair this episode really doesn't need to be that long in the first place as the cartoons plot doesn't really require a longer running time rather it just needs to do the bare minimum and et the characters themselves do the rest ad that is something that this cartoon does to perfectly and the cartoon is alot more better because of it as it allows for the characters to be there usual fun selfs with the cartoon having more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of time in the first place. Yet even taking this into account the cartoon still really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the cartoon doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot which granted is something that would have been hard to do without doing a complete rewrite of the cartoons script but it's not impossible as the cartoon could have added things to the plot that might seem small at first like for example maybe Tweety has a mother who flies away at the start of the cartoon and then comes back at the end just to hit Sylvester on the head if she sees him trying to eat her son which it's not much but it still would have been something at the very least but even so it would have been hard to give this cartoon that much plot development without going on the seven minuet run time with it being made clear as day that the makers of this cartoon bout alot more thought and effort into giving us some funny Sylvester visuals then they did a well thought out plot. This is something that does also effect the cartoons character development which is understandable as these cartoon run on sitcom logic where everything is reset at the end of the cartoon and the characters don't get development in the cartoon even if it is just for that one cartoon but it still would have helped if we did get to see the characters get some small amount of character development and yet due to the fact the makers of this film out there focus on quite literally anything else in the cartoon it does mean that neither Tweety nor Sylvester get any kind of character development but I really will admit that this very cartoon really does have some really good pacing to it tho.
So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very cartoon well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very cartoon was in all honesty really good. With the cartoons jokes being really painfully funny and heck the cartoon is worth watching just for the jokes as they are where the cartoon really does shine it's brightest with the makers of the cartoon really making it clear that they took the time to animate the cartoons jokes as well as they could have done and because of that we got alot of funny jokes in this cartoon. With the best joke in the whole cartoon being when Sylvester has Tweety captured in a geyser which is set to go off at any minuet with the cat moving the clock back about twenty minuets in the hopes of catching Tweety with Tweety getting out of it just before Sylvester jumps in after him and move the clock to exactly when it's about to blow with the water elevating Sylvester up into the air and whilst yes fair enough it's not the smartest joke out there but that's exactly why it works so well in the first place as he joke is just so dumb and childlike in nature that you can't help but laugh at it and whilst there are alot of other better written jokes in this cartoon this one doesn't need to be well written to get a laugh it just needs it's dumb set up and that's really it and that is more then enough to make this joke a really good joke in this really funny cartoon with the rest of the cartoons jokes being jut as well as in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
Overall this a cartoon that is really worth watching not only if you love either the Tom Ad Jerry cartoons or the Looney Tunes cartoons or even both for that matter but also if you love cartoons that are actually funny as this is a cartoon that does have alot of really good jokes in it that that make the cartoon all the mor fun to watch in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very cartoon in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very cartoon really does earn itself a grand old score exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.
Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in tis very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from LooneyTunesWiki .
