Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle Of The Realms Film SPOILER FREE!!!!!!!!! Film Review

Mortal Kombat fans right now the Mortal Kombat moves are like buses since you wait years for one to come along and then three come along all at once and well. Now there's yet another Mortal Kombat movie out there that's just this second been released and so join me as I review the newest or even the latest animated Mortal Kombat film / movie with the film / movie in question being called simply just "Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle Of The Realms" enjoy.

Now then the actual plot of this film is the heroes of earthrealm must once again defend earthrealm when the forces of Shao Khan invade earthrealm and challenge our heroes to one final Mortal Kombat all the main Scorpion has to team up with an old foe in order to prevent a god like creature from being resurrected and merging all of the realms together. Now then in terms of what I personally thought of the plot of this film in all honesty I in all honesty thought that the plot of this film was really freaking inane but in a good way since I wouldn't expect a Mortal Kombat film to have a plotline that's not insane and so the fact that this film had a plotline just balls to the wall insanity is a very good thing indeed in my opinion anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Joel McHale as Johnny Cage , Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade and Jordan Rodrigues as Liu Kang. Also starring in this film is Patrick Seitz as Scorpion , Artt Butler as Shang Tsung , Cyrax and Shao Kahn's Soldier , Robin Atkin Downes as Shinnok and Reiko , Dave B. Mitchell and Raiden , Kintaro and Sektor , Ike Amadi as Jax and The One Being , Grey Griffin as Kitana , Satoshi Hasashi and Li Mei , Fred Tatasciore as Shao Kahn , Matthew Mercer as Stryker , Smoke and Demon One , Bayardo De Murguia as Sub-Zero / Kuai Liang , Matthew Yang King as Kung Lao , Paul Nakauchi as Lin Kuei Grandmaster , Emily O’Brien as Jade and Lin Kang and Debra Wilson as D'Vorah.

Now then in terms of what I personally thought or even felt about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this very film in all honesty I in all honesty thought or even felt that the acting that's featured / presented to us in this very film was very good indeed. This is because not only is the script for this film very good but also all of the actors that are appearing / starring in this film are also very good actors and actresses and so of course the acting in this film is going to be freaking good because all of the actors and actresses that are appearing starring in this film are really good actors and actresses in my opinion anyways / at least.

So then doing the animation for this film is Studio Mir who did the animation for Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge among many other TV shows and movies and well in terms of what I personally thought about the animation that's featured / presented to us in  this film. Well in all honesty I in all honesty thought that the animation that's featured / presented to us in this very film was so freaking good that's actually unreal at how good the actual animation in this film actually is since every single fight scene practically leaps of off the page / screen because that's how good the animation is in this film in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then without giving anything away I will say that this film is worth watching just for this films opening studio credits / studios logos. I won't say way this is the case but I will say that this film pretty much brings to animated life a now possibly even classic internet meme and what made this shall we say surprise appearance even more shocking and kind of hilarious is the fact that they got this persons actual voice actor to record what this person says in the opening Warner Bros Animation company credit / company lol and if your like me you will find this cameo to be freaking hilarious but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways / at least.

Now then even tho i've been quite freaking positive about the film thus far and I will be continuing to be positive about this film in this very review there are some things about this film that I personally didn't like about this film. Like for example the fact that both Scorpion and his new friend just straight disappear from this movie near the end of this film which wouldn't be a problem if there plotline wasn't something that was really important to the film however given how important that there plotline was to this film I really do think that more time should have been spent on fully developing this particular plotline in my opinion anyways / at least.

So now then the other thing that I didn't like about this film is the fact that the Scorpion and his friend plotline could have been a whole entire third film onto it's self because it had the potential to be that epic of a plotline but nope they squeezed or squished it into this film which means that what could have been an epic plotline is now just an above average subplot / side plot / side mission at best. Now then I will very much admit that there was alot of times where I just straight up laughed out loud at this film and alot of those truly laugh out loud moments came from the one and only Johnny Cage who is just so freaking funny in his antics in this film in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then this film is exactly one hour and nineteen minuets and forty six seconds long and well if i'm being well and truly and very freaking honest here people this film had the perfect amount of running time in my opinion anyways / at least. Since even when you combine both of this films main storylines / plotlines there really isn't enough there in terms of either plot or story to cover anything that/s even to one hour and thirty minuets in my opinion anyways / at least.

Now then since this film is an action film after all and there is action in this actual action film that means that I have to to actually talk about the actual action that's featured / presented to us in this very film / movie and in my opinion anyways / at least the action that's featured / presented to us in this very film / movie is really freaking cool. I won't give away why the action that's in this film is so freaking cool but let's just say that this film earns it's mature rating just from the fight scenes alone and plus it's always cool to see some really good looking fight scenes in a well done animated film / movie in my opinion anyways / at least.

Overall this direct to DVD animated Mortal Kombat movie is alot better then the most recent 2021 live action Mortal Kombat movie which really isn't saying that much since that movie is pretty freaking bad in my opinion anyways / at least but this film does indeed have alot of faults of it's own and those exact same faults that keep this film from being a perfect film in my opinion anyways / at least. Now i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this film film gets a grand old score of a 7.5 out of 10 from this Mortal Kombat fan AKA me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Mortal Kombat fandom wiki page and from Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images this film being the official Mortal Kombat fandom wiki page this is because all of the images that I got and that currently up , featured and on the official Mortal Kombat fandom wiki page are all fairly high in quality and as well as being fairly high in definition.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge Review

Well then animation fans it's not often that I get to review a new straight to DVD movie on the weekend (i'm writing this on Sunday) but tho what I believe to be the first ever animated Mortal Kombat film, which was due for digital release on Tuesday leaked out a few days early. So you can freaking bet that I was downloading this film the first chance that I got and well it's really something i'll tell you that much and so here is my review of "Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge" enjoy.

The plot of the movie is an ageing warlock named Shang Tsung hosts a yearly tournbment called with the best fighters from this world and another fighting to win but sorcerer Quan Chi makes a deal with a lost soul by restoring him as a legendary fighter known simply as Scorpion. If i'm being frank the plot of the movie is pretty thin even what I just described to you is basically the premise of the movie rather then the story that's being told which is a shame because the premise is pretty interesting.

Starring in this movie is Joel McHale as Johnny Cage , Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade , Jordan Rodrigues as Liu Kang , Patrick Seitz as Hanzo Hasashi / Scorpion , Steve Blum as Kuai Liang / Sub-Zero , Artt Butler as Shang Tsung , Darin De Paul as Quan Chi , Robin Atkin Downes as Kano , Dave B. Mitchell as Raiden , Ike Amadi as Jackson "Jax" Briggs , Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro , Grey Griffin as Kitana and Satoshi Hasashi and Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer.

In terms of what I thought about the acting in the film it was honestly alot better then what I thought it was going to be simply because a few of these actors are actually reprising their roles from either the games of the 1995 live action movie i'll leave it up to you to work who's reprising their role and who isn't. I really cannot say who is the better actor in this film since alot of them really do deliver a good performance.

Now I can't find who did the animation for the film on the IMDB page but on the film's end credits it lists Studio Mir as doing the animation why the IMDB page couldn't tell me that I have no idea but then again the IMDB page also has DC Entertainment listed as being involved with the film. In terms of what I thought about the animation like the voice acting it was a lot better then what I thought it was going to be however it's not as good as I think that it could have been.

The film has a more anime inspired look to it like Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend Of Kora which I do feel works well enough for this film. However not every piece of animation that's aimed at adults needs to look like an anime it just needs to be have adult themes this one tho does contain a more adult look with the anime visual style but it doesn't really have that many adult themes outside of Scorpions plot that is.

Now you might be wondering why i've got the poster for the animated film version of Batman: The Killing Joke well that's because both films are rated R. However unlike The Killing Joke film this film really does earn it heck it earn it even before the the opening credits start playing because my god is there some brutal scenes in this movie and I loved every single one of them and i'm not going to lie those scene were freaking cool as hell.

Incase you can't tell i'm trying to keep this review as spoiler free as possible mostly because I want you guys to check it out but also because there's nothing to spoil whatsoever. Which to me says that the movie has nothing else to offer and is intended as a one time watch which i'm honestly fine with since not every film should be viewed multiple times but I will say that how the film ends is such sequel bait that they might as well end it with "Such And Such A Character Will Return" it's that obvious and yes that was me trying to make a joke spoiler free.

I want to take the time to do something that I very rarely do when I review an animated film and that's take the time very briefly to talk about the character designs. The designs for the characters in this movie look so freaking cool that's honestly the best word that I can use to describe them if you want proof of that all you need to do is look at the image of Kitana she looks so freaking bada*s in this movie and I like that they made Scorpions costume look like something that a samurai would wear which I thought was pretty sweet.

This film is an hour and twenty minuets long and may god do you feel it in alot of places and when I say alot I really freaking mean it. Alot of this does come down to the lack of story which does mean there's alot of stuff that ultimately adds nothing to the film and is there just to make the film as close to feature length as possible as such I feel that the film should have been at least an hour maybe even forty five minuets because that's how much actual story material they have this film didn't need to be an hour and twenty minuets long at all.

This film is an r rating and like I said before it really does earn it i'm not going to say how it earns it but if you've played the games you'll know exactly what i'm talking about. I'm honestly not that shocked that they made this film as violent as they did like there where somethings that caught me of guard but again i'm not going to spoil what they are but I will also say if you've played the games they do somethings known from the games in a really cool way.

Now this is an action film and that does mean that we need to talk about the action that's in the film itself. Even tho the franchise is indeed known for it's fighting for me personally the action in the film is very sub-par at best which is a shame because they do some really cool stuff in those action scenes it's just that they cool stuff that they do has been done better in other movies both animated or not.

Overall if your a fan of the Mortal Kombat games (of which I personally haven't played them but I have seen the two live action movies) then you'll find the movie entertaining. However if your like me and are pretty much just a casual fan then chances are your not going to find much entertainment in this film outside of some of the action and violence as such the film gets a 7 out of 10 from me and if you want to buy the film you can as it comes out on Digital release Tuesday April 14th and on DVD and Blu-Ray April 28th don't ask me how I saw it early let's just say "other methods" were used and I don't condone using those methods.
