Worzel Gummidge "Captain Worzel" Review

Worzel Gummidge fans it has been a really long time since I last reviewed an episode of this show not for a lack of trying tho. As quite literally every single time that i've tried to get this review off the ground something has always come up to prevent me from reviewing do it well now i'm finally able to get back to reviewing episodes of Worzel Gummidge once again and so then join me as I review the episode that sees our beloved scarecrow take the water with the episode in question being called simply just "Captain Worzel" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when Worzel thinks that Aunt Sally is being held against her will he and Saucy Nancy attempt to rescue her. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good with this episodes plot being filled to the brim with all of the wonder and whims that you expect from his show with the episode being just really charming on the whole with this being where the episodes plot shine through as while yes this plot is something that could be seen as being a bit thin as all it is is Worzel making a mistake when Aunt Sally a wooden doll was going to be sold to be in a Museum it's that kind of simple natured plot that really does allow for the plot to be as good as it is as alot of what makes this episodes be that good is due to the fact that the plot does allow for the characters to be there charming and that is somethin that it wouldn't be able to do if it was a more deep and thought provoking plot as then the episode just wouldn't have the room for things like that but due to the fact that the plot for this episode is as simple as it is it does allow for those things to happen and not every single thig needs to have a deep and thought provoking plot in order for it to work as sometimes all it needs is just a simple plot and that's exactly what this episodes plot is in all of the best ways possible with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Doctor Who star Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge and Laurence Harrington as Cyril. Also starring in this episode is Norman Mitchell as P.C. Parsons , Michael Ripper as Mr. Shepherd , Geoffrey Bayldon as The Crowman , Kate David as The Cashier , Blake Butler as The Boatyard Owner , Dame Barbara Windsor as Saucy Nancy , Una Stubbs as Aunt Sally and Keith Smith as Mr. Pursglove.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With this episodes acting being as wonderfully good as you'd expect it to be and having been away from the show since late last year just now coming to it it did make me realise just how good the acting not only in this episode but in this show as a whole really was as these actors had truly define who these characters were as people as while yes many of them did appear in the original books alot of them however weren't and were therefor more well known for being in this show with all of this episodes actors really getting the tone and spirit of the show as while yes this was a kids TV show and therefor no one would have blamed these big named stars if they chose to phone in there performance it's the fact that they didn't do that and instead treated it as if they were working on a feature length film with this being due to the fact that the shows director James Hill also made sever theatrical films and helped to foster that kind of environment on set with him always demanding the best of his actors and it's something does shine through in the performances in this episode with the best actor in the whole entire episode being Jon Pertwee as the man is just so good in this show and in this episode as well with him being being able to capture Worzels more child like innocence in one scene and then hit you with something heavy in the exact same scene with the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that the script for this episode is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

Where this episode either rises to the occasion or falls flat on it's face is with it's characters as they do have to do alot of the heavy lifting in this episode. As the plot of this episode is wafer thin in the first place and therefor the episode does rely alot more on it's characters to be there usual charming selves and that is something that they are in this episode with them all bein just as delightfully charming and funny as you'd want them to be in the episode with the only thing that does hold the characters back a bit is the fact that Saucy Nancy isn't her usual saucy self in this episode as while yes this was due to the fact that in her previous episode she did get married to Worzel's cousin they quickly undo that in this episode by having her explain that he left to go about being a pirate instead of returning to Australia like he has said he would do therefor there was no reason for her to not be her usual self in this episode as while yes she does have some fun banter with Aunt Sally which is as over the top as you'd expect all of the fun wordplay and innuendo that was with the character in her first and even previous episode is now gone all together and yet even so characters like Worzel and Aunt Sally are still really charming and still do bounce off of her really well with all of the characters truly getting a moment to shine in this episode be it from Mr. Shephard arguing with both the landlord and P.C. Parson at the start of the episode to Worzel putting on his cousins head and talking with an Australian accent this episode whilst it's not the best episode of the show by far it is one that does show just how god that these characters could still be even in a fairly decent at best episode of the show.

If you liked the banter that Aunt Sally and Saucy Nancy have had in all of their previous appearances together then your really going to love this episode as they argue with each other all the time in this episode. With them arguing over every little thing and all of the time it is something that does feel true to who they are as characters as while Saucy Nancy does have Worzel's best interests at heart Aunt Sally is only looking out for herself and yet even so it is still fun seeing both of these characters all the while Worzel is just doing the best that he can do to keep both of them happy and much like with her first appearances Saucy Nancy ends up ripping of Worzels arm which granted was done by accident but it is still something that does make this show stand out alot more as alot of the episodes in this show did have Worzel loosing limbs or getting ran over by a combine harvester or in the case of the first episode quite literally almost dying when he falls down a hill at the local tip and while those things are indeed really scary for a kid here in this episode it was played more for laughs which was most likely done as a way to tone down the scariness of the show and while it could be argued that that did work the episode still shows Worzel taking of his head to replace it with his cousins which was something that did scare little kids and while none of that does have a huge impact on the episode was does is showing Aunt Sally and Nancy arguing as it's because of that the Aunt Sally goes on to have a sulk thus leaving her on the narrow boat with her owner in the first place as even Worzel couldn't get her to stop sulking as if he did then she could have explained to him what was going on in the first place this ending the entire episode.

What could be seen as being a shocking move is the fact that even tho the episode does build up The Crowman as being someone who will play a big role in this episode. He does infact only appear in about two maybe three scenes all together both at the start of and near the end of the episode and that's really it which for someone who is meant to be a main character in the show and is someone who Worzel both fears and admires isn't really alot of time for this character maybe the makers of this episode just couldn't figure out a way to include the character in a meaningful way or maybe Geoffrey Bayldon was busy filming something else at the time and couldn't really commit to being in the episode alot more then he was either way it is odd that the character isn't in the episode alot more especially since he is always the one that's getting Worzel out of trouble even if it's something that does anger him alot of the time with character of Mr. Shephard instead getting alot more screen time which is something that does make alot of sense as he is owner of Aunt Sally afterall and he is the one that is trying to sell her but at the same time tho it would have been fun seeing both the The Crowman and Mr. Shephard interact in the episode as the two characters very rarely if ever interact in the show and it's something that could have provided some great comedy for the episode as both characters do have there moments of being really funny and yet for one reason or another despite The Crowman having his ways of knowing that Worzel got himself into trouble at the end of this episode he blames Aunt Sally when she did nothing wrong in the episode at all.

With Mr. Shephard basically being a main character in the episode we do get alot of scenes with him and the boatyard owner. Which was something that the episode could have dine without as while they were needed to get across the plot of the episode and to set up why Aunt Sally is on this one particular spot on the narrow boat in the first place alot of there scenes are just them repeating the same pieces of information and just going over the same joke as both Mr. Shephard and the boatyard owner both have things that go missing in the episode as the boatyard owner has Saucy Nancy walking about and Mr. Shephard has Aunt Sally doing her usual thing and yet both of those characters just don't do anything that's entertaining with each other other outside of there first interaction where the boatyard owner after asking Mr. Shephard if he knows how to drive a narrow boat then finds out that alot of Shephards relatives worked on boats something Mr. Shephard has obviously made up with the boatyard owner basically calling him out on that which was a fun interaction and it's the only time that one of there scenes together was actually entertaining to watch as alot of the time there scenes together even tho they are needed for the episode just feel like there lacking where as Mr. Shephards scene with Mr. Pursglove was a highly entertaining scene as even tho he believed that he would be getting money for Aunt Sally it infact turns out that Mr. Pursglove had no intention of paying him and was going to let Aunt Sally stay u his museum for the honor of it and that's really it which was a really entertaining thing to find out as the only thing that Mr. Shephard wants for his Aunt Sally is some decent money for her due to the fact that she's an antique.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty six minuets and four seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this show to have in the first place with the episode really having the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place and yet even so the episode really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely in one respect as the episode doesn't take the time that it really could have done to fully develop it's plot as the episode doesn't really take the time to explain things like why The Crowman doesn't catch up to Worzel in this episode despite the fact that earlier episodes of this show did exactly that something that could easily have been explained by showing The Crowman struggling to keep up with Mr. Shephards car and yet for one reason or another the makers of this episode put alot more focus on giving us these wacky situations with Worzel , Aunt Sally and Saucy Nancy when that is time that could have been spent on giving us a more well thought plot but to be fair this episode however to be fair tho the episode doesn't really take the time to give it's characters any kind of character development and while that might be seen as being a bad thing here it's not as this show doesn't really give it's characters character development in the first place with this episode being more focused funny and giving it's characters funny things to say and do then it is giving it's character development which in this case is something that does work really well for the episode as this episode is one that doesn't really demand that the characters get any kind of character development but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I gave to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that' actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With the episode having alot of really good jokes in it with this being more due to the fact that the episode did put alot of focus of giving us some really funny jokes and it is something that does pay off in the final episode as it does allow for all of these really funny actors to be just as funny as we the audience know that they can be with the best joke in the whole entire episode being when Aunt Sally and Saucy Nancy are arguing as they each force Worzel to sit up and stand up which might not sound funny but the thing that makes it funny is the fact that we get to see Jon Pertwee make some really funny faces all of which are more funnier then what they really should have been with it being something that does hit home the fact that Jon Pertwee can be a really funny man as he doesn't always need funny things to say to make him funny as he can get a laugh out of people just by doing things like putting on a shockingly good Australian accent or by pulling a funny face both of which are things that he does in this episode and both of which are really funny with this episode having alot of really jokes in it all of which work due to the fact that they feel true to who these characters are as people as well as bein really funny in there own right in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst yes there are better and more funnier episodes of this show this episode is one that is still really funny as it allows it's characters to just be these funny characters and not have alot of focus on drama or have that deep of a plot which is something that really does work for this episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Amazon . Co . Uk and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very episode that I used in this very review being the really great Google Images really simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not really all of the images that are all really from this very episode with alot of them being really better quality then what you'd really think of and all of the images are really of course up and really on Google Images are also really all fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.

Worzel Gummidge Down Under "The Sleeping Beauty" Review

Worzel is a character that was for a long period of time a British institution with the hit Jon Pertwee show making the character move lovable then he has ever been. Yet even so with he's not remembered all that much nowadays which is a shame because when the series got it right it really did get things right it's only when the show moved to New Zealand that it start to get bad and while the episode that i'm going to be talking to you all about today isn't a bad episode persay it's also not a good one either and so then join me as I review the episode that introduces Worzel two human child friends into the show with the episode in question being called simply just "The Sleeping Beauty" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when Worzel catches wind of just were his beloved Aunt Sally is staying he and his new human friends Mickey and Manu set off to rescue her. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really bad as while this episodes pot does have some things to set up it does also have a pretty weak plot even for this version of the show as the episode has to set up who Worzel's new human friends are and what there like as people which is fair enough but that eats up so much of the episodes run time that it leaves very little time for the episodes main plot which is something that is left more of an afterthought when compared to anything else in the episode and while this episodes plot isn't the strongest plot in this show as it is pretty weak at best due to it feeling like a typical Aunt Sally plotline from the later series of Worzel Gummidge instead of feeling like something that was more in line with the original shows first series for example but to be fair to this episode there are still moments of that first series flair coming through in the plot of this episode but he episode is bogged down by so much bad things just in it's plot alone that it makes would could have been a very passable plot seem really dull and while this episode isn't unwatchable by any means the plot doesn't do the episode any kind of favors whatsoever with the plot of this episode not really being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Doctor Who star Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge and Bruce Phillips as The Crowman. Also starring in this episode is Jonathan Marks as Mickey , Una Stubbs as Aunt Sally , Olivia Ihimaera-Smiler as Manu , Gerald Bryan as Rooney , Michael Haigh as Professor Pike , Patupatu Ripley as Mrs. Te Wheke , Joy Watson as Mrs. Peacock and David Copeland as Commissionaire Gilbert.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With pretty much all of this episodes actors turning in some really good performances even the episodes kid actors which was something that was surprising as kids can usually be pretty annoying to watch and yet there the actors playing them were really good in the episode with of course the likes of Jon Pertwee and Una Stubbs being really great to watch as well which is something that does make alot of sense as they are reprising their roles from the original show and would therefor have the best knowledge on how best to perform there respective characters with both of them even being the episodes best actors as do still have a lot of chemistry with each other and are both quite clearly having a lot of fun in playing there respective characters with both characters being perfectly well cast as both of those actors bring something that's uniquely them to the roles with that being something that really does help to sell you on these characters and while both Jonathan Marks and Olivia Ihimaera-Smiler aren't as good as Jeremy Austin and Charlotte Coleman they both really good actors in this episode with the acting that's in this episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

The episode does get a little bit better when it comes to it's characters as it does pretty much round out all of the side characters for this first series of the show. As while the side characters that we get fully introduced to in this episode won't be as good as the ones from the original show they all have there own unique charm to them that make them different from the ones on the original show with the best example of this being the kids Mickey and Manu who are the complete and total opposite of Jon and Sue as while those character were the typical good kids that all British kids TV shows seemed to have at the time it's clear right from the second that we see them in this episode that Mickey and Manu are trouble makers but ones that do have a heart of gold as while they trust straight up tell Worzel that there not his friends and there not surprised that he's a scarecrow they are willing to help him go and see Aunt Sally even tho it could get them into a lot of trouble with another good example of this episodes side characters being Rooney who is best described as being a handyman of sorts for the local town as he just does every little odd job here and there that's really needed of him which is something that does bring him into contact with both Worzel and The Crowman alot of the time and while he is portrayed as being quite dumb he can also be a bit wise something which doesn't really get showcased in this episode but in another episode he does tell The Crowman that if you want succeed in this town you have to be able to do many things as there's not much call for someone who just makes Scarecrows in the town anymore.

Speaking of The Crowman it's in one his scenes that we actually get to find out about this series main villain The Travelling Scarecrow Maker as it's revealed by Rooney that he buys up all of the Mangal Worzel's to make his cheaper scarecrows with. This was a nice touch as you can tell right from how The Crowman talks about him that he and the scarecrow maker have a past with each other and it's one that does get revealed later on in the series and while he has nothing but pure hatred for The Travelling Scarecrow Maker he does have some what of a kinder relationship with Worzel as he does go looking for him when he leaves his post and while the two of them don't really get to spend any screen time together in this episode something which they really should have done to set up there relationship more fully it is nice seeing him care for Worzel and while yews this version of The Crowman doesn't let Worzel get away with much much like the original version did with the original version of The Crowman being more of a father figure to Worzel and this one being more like someone who is forced to look after him but starts to like him anyway and that is something that makes this version of the character alot more interesting as it shows that all scarecrow makers have to like alot of each others scarecrows as they have no reason to with this even being shown when he talks about The Travelling Scarecrow Maker as you can hear in his voice that he really doesn't like him and is really holding back his anger as not to reveal the fact that scarecrows can walk and talk with him even acting scared at the mere mention of him like he knows that that character is up to no good and that is something that does add some level mystery into this shows version of The Crowman.

This episode does also have the only time in which they directly reference the original Jon Pertwee show. As Worzel himself says that he's just left two little children right before he met up with Mickey and Manu and while the show would even directly use footage from the original show in a later episode and even have a photograph of Geoffrey Bayldon as The Crowman this show never really mentioned the original show all that much which I guess does make sense as you don't really want to remind people of other shows even if the show that your making is a sequel show but at the same time tho it was nice for this episode to reference Jon and Sue as they are Worzel's best friends so it does make sense he would make a reference to them in that way but it would have been nicer if we got to see them even if it was just a quick cameo at the start of the previous episode as that would have made sense given the fact that the previous episode started out in England and in the same village as the original show as well and while Mickey and Manu are good enough characters the fact that this episode does reference Jon and Sue does still remind you of the much more better show with that reference feeling like it was something that the makers of this episode felt like that they have to include as the fans of the original show would still be watching this new show as that reference adds nothing to the overall episode and felt more like fanservice but in the best way possible however what would made the episode even better was if the episode spent alot more time in fully fleshing out it's characters instead of just giving us the bare bones of characters as these are characters that we are goin to be spending the rest of the first series with and therefor we want to get to know more about them and yet when compare Mickey and Manu to Jon and Sue we got to find out more about Jon and Sue just from the first two episodes of that show alone then we did about Manu and Mickey from this episode.

In what was a bit of a shocking thing to see in this episode we don't really get to see an awful lot of Aunt Sally in this episode. Despite her being the main vocal point of the episode with her really only appearing in the episodes final five to ten minuets and that's really it which granted is mainly due to the fact that the episode also had to do some setting up for future episodes and to also introduce the shows new side characters as well but at the same time tho given that she is meant to be a main character in the plot of the episode it is weird that Aunt Sally barely shows up in the actual episode itself while yes granted they do have an in universe reasoning for that as Worzel is first trying to befriend Mickey and Manu before then being told where Aunt Sally is staying and so in that way it does make sense for her to only appear in a smaller amount of the episode but given the fact that the whole reason that Worzel went to New Zealand in the first place was to be with her it would have made sense within the episode to have Worzel find out where she's staying at the same time that he's trying to befriend Mickey and Manu and then have them bond over their expirences in this adventure instead of having them bond before it as that just makes it feel out of character for Worzel not to know where Aunt Sally is and go chasing after her however tho this episode does also mark a first in their relationship as it's the first and so far the only time that Worzel has actually successfully kissed Aunt Sally with that moment being treated as the right amount of silly and seriousness that it really needed but at the same time tho it not having her in the episode a whole lot more makes Aunt Sally feel more like an afterthought when she should have been more of the main focus of the episode.

Now then this episode has / has an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty four minuets and fifty five seconds. Which is a perfectly solid running time for this episode to have as alot of the episodes for this show do have a similar running time as well with this episode having just amount the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time but in saying that tho this is an episode that really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the episode is more focused on setting up things for future episodes then it is in developing it's plot which does make this episodes plot also feel an afterthought when if the episode just spent more time in developing it's own plot then in setting up things for other episodes then we would have a slightly more better episode however tho this is also something that does effect it's characters as well as while it could be argued that both Worzel and Aunt Sally don't really need any kind of character development due to the fact that they were lead characters on the original show characters like Rooney , Mickey , Manu and The Crowman all needed it as alot of them are getting more screen time in this episode after just making a cameo in the previous episode with there characters really needing to be the most fleshed out due to the fact that they are new characters and while it could be argued that they get there development in future episodes which would be a fair argument to make it's something that should have started in this episode as this is our first real look at those characters but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then  as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. With there being some really cute and funny jokes in this episode which is something that this show did do really best as those allow the characters to be there usual charming selves and with this episode having two returning characters it does mean that the episode can have some fun with there relationship to each other which is something that this episode does somewhat take full advantage of as the episodes best joke is when Worzel does kiss Aunt Sally which results in him being as giddy as a school boy and her being utterly shocked and appalled that a scarecrow would kiss her which is something that does feel completely in character for both of them as we know that Worzel loves Aunt Sally with all of his heart and would do anything for her much like how we know that she hated Worzel with all of her heart and would do anything to get away from him and so to them act differently to a kiss which was done just to wake her up with anther good joke when after escaping the museum Aunt Sally finds herself working as a local attraction once again getting balls thrown at her whilst Worzel finds himself being hung up onto a chimney with both characters not really being happy with there current predicament with this episode having alot of really good jokes in it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst this isn't the best episode of this show it's also not the worst one either as while there is a huge drop off interms of quality when compared to the original show this is an episode that can at times be really fun to watch it just needed more of a focus on it's plot and more Aunt Sally to make it better in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Amazon .

Worzel Gummidge "A Home Fit For Scarecrows" Review

It's been a good long while since anything to do with Worzel Gummidge was last talked about this is despite my best efforts to get a review for another episode of the ground. Well one has finally managed to happen and it just so happens that the episode that i'm going to be talking to you all about today just so happens to be one my all time favorite episodes of the show due to how much fun of an episode it is and so then join me as I review the episode that is one of two musical episodes in the show with the episode in question being called simply just "A Home Fit For Scarecrows" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when Worzel starts stealing odd pieces of furniture from around the village the kids have to find him before the grown ups do. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that he actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad as this episodes plot was nothing short of fun in the best ways possible as while yes it could be argued that the episode was rather light on plot this is however an episode that really doesn't require alot of plot in order to be good as all it needs is the basic set up and that's and that's exactly what we got in this episode a plot that is simple and fun to watch and at the end of day not every episode of any show needs to be super dark and complicated as alot of the time that will get the way in the characters just being their usual fun and goofy selves and that is something that the makers of this show fully understood as they would frequently have plots that are really simple but they would also be plots that are just fun to watch as they would allow for the shows character to just be there usual fun and goofy selves and with this episode only being the shows second ever episode it was a wonder that it turned out as good as it was as usually the second episode of a show has the more weaker plot to it and while yes the plot of this episode is weaker then the shows first episode it was still a good plot in it's own right with the plot itself also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Doctor Who star Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge and Jeremy Austin as John Peters. Also starring in this episode is Charlotte Coleman as Sue Peters , Are You Being Served star Mike Berry as Mr. Peters , Norman Bird as Mr. Braithwaite , Myrtle Devenish as Mrs. Liversedge , Megs Jenkins as Mrs. Braithwaite , Norman Mitchell as P.C. Parsons , Michael Ripper as Mr. Shepherd and Last Of The Summer Wine star Sarah Thomas as The Waitress.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. With the episodes acting being on par with the rest of the shows acting as that's just how good all of the actors are in this episode with this being down to two things the first of which being alot of this episodes actors are a bunch of really good good actors in their own right and the second of which is the fact that the shows director James Hill was not only known for directing feature length films but also directed the OSCAR winning film Born Free with him brining those expertise to this show as he really did strive to get the best performances out of all of his actors in this show and episode and it is something that really does shine through in the final product as you can see that every single actor in this episode even those that only have a small role are still giving it there all with the best actor in this episode being Jon Pertwee as he gets to make some really funny faces in this episode with him also delivering a really earnest performance as Worzel Gummidge something that makes you wonder why he didn't lead more films and TV shows as he really is just that good of an actor with the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that the script for this episode is just so good that all this actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

What helped to make this episode all the more fun is the fact that we got to see just what Worzel thinks a house looks like. Which in typical Worzel fashion is nothing more then just old things that he's found lying about the farm yard with there even being a random tire thrown in for no reason and yet at the same time tho it's something that really does work really well as this is a character that has very little brain to begin with and so of course to him something like a tire would make for a good chair but in saying that we do also see that he has a chair that he uses as a chair and a nightstand which he uses to keep his hedgehog hairbrush in which yes is a literal hedgehog that he uses as a hairbrush it's silly and dumb but it's both of those things in all of the best ways possible with even the fact that Worzel has his own walls that no one but him knows about and a door that's made up of a door frame all of which does make his house look odd and yet at the same time fitting for this character as this is a character that would have all of these things and then some and the fact that he's not ashamed of it does go to show that Worzel is just a delightful character as he know that he's not the smartest person out there and yet he's still happy just having fun and getting into trouble with his own version of a house being a good example of this as he would have had to have stolen those things from somewhere and before it makes you wonder not only how he managed to do it in the first place but also why he did it as well as in the first episode he made no mention of having his own house in the farm yard barn and yet from this episode onwards it would become his "home" as it were.

This episode along with the shows only Christmas special s the only episode of the main show to be somewhat of a musical. With Worzel singing a song that helps John and Sue to speak "Worzeleze" which is a language that only scarecrows can speak with it being a really easy language to pick up once you know what your doing as all you do is spell out each letter but put a wor in between each one and at the end but when it comes to the end of the word if it ends with three or less letters you then end it with dip or if it's four or more you then end it in zel with the song itself a being a delightful little song that does get stuck in your head after a while with the song pretty much being designed to show of John Pertwee's singing skills as he really does knock it out of the park with the song as while the actors playing John and Sue are good singers there clearly not trained singers as they just sound really wooden when there singing the song both times in the episode and yet John Pertwee comes out sounding like a really good singer with the song itself being a song that whilst it's not one of the best songs that the show would do as alot of those songs are featured in the Christmas special it's also not one of the worst ones either as it's a song that does exactly what it was meant to do which is be a fun way to tech the kids something new and add some lore to the show and that's really it and that in that respect it does serve it's purpose really well as well as serving a great bookend to the episode as well but in saying that it would have been nice if there was more then just the two verses that we actually get to hear in the episode as the song rally is just a fun little song.

John in this episode does actually bring up a very good point very early on in the episode as he states that Worzel doesn't get blamed for anything around the farm as it's always him and Sue that get all of the blame. Which is a very good point as even in the first episode they were getting the blame for all of the sticks and bits of mud that Worzel had left in there house and they would continue to get the blame for alot of his antics all throughout the show and yet they are still somehow friends with him which ranted would make the show a very short show if they stopped being friends with him but even so the point that John makes is a very good one and it is something that does go along way t explaining why he doesn't trust Worzel all that much as while Worzel is seeing fun and adventure in certain things all John manages to see is what he's going to be getting the blame for next and that's it which is something that does lead to John not really trusting Worzel all that much but still willing to be friends with him and help him out of trouble as and when he needs it with the only thing that lets this point down is the fact that it is only the second episode and therefor John still shouldn't be jumping to conclusions this early on as he still really doesn't know Worzel all that much and he is therefor judging a book by it's cover but on the flip side of that is his sister Sue who is perhaps a little bit to trusting of Worzel as she just believes that he didn't take Mrs. Braithwaites rocking chair even tho he is the only one that could have took it in the first place but this is something that could explained by the fact that even tho The Crowman is Worzel's father figure in the show then perhaps Sue is his mother figure and is therefor just being kind and loving towards him.

This an episode that starts of the tradition of having new characters play smaller roles in one episode before becoming major side characters in the rest of the show. As in this episode we get introduced to Mr. Shephard who only pretty much has a cameo role in this episode as he only appears in two scenes both of which are near the end of the episode but would go on to become a major side character for the rest of this show show four series with him just seen here doing a spot of gardening at home before racing of to find P.C. Parsons as Worzel's in his bed with the character being again near the end of the episode with the rest of the villagers in a field in Worzels own home built house made up of things that he's taken from them just trying to convince them to come round to his house so that they can arrest Worzel which is somethin that does seem pretty on brand for this character as he is the type of character who despite being a bit of an everyman is more then willing to become the centre of attention should he really want to and the fact that Worzel was quite literally in his house is something that really does make his case for Worzel being arrested really strong but at the same time tho given just how many times he does see Worzel in this show it makes you wonder why he doesn't restart his quest to get him arrested as that could have made for a cute running joke with the character with him trying to get Worzel arrested just for Worzel to get away before he can do so and while the show would eventually kind of start of running joke with him as they have him always loosing then fining his Aunt Sally alot of the time that's more of an excuse to get her into the plot of an episode and really isn't that much of a running joke.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty four minuets an forty one seconds. Which to be fair for this episode is pretty much the exact grand total running tome for alot of this shows episodes with this episode really having more then plot to really cover that amount running time in the first place but in saying this tho the episode really doesn't take as full advantage of this it's running time in one respect as it really could have done as the episode has the thing that's really meant to get Worzel intro trouble happen near the end of the episode with him going around the village and taking random things that he needs for his new house in a field whereas this is something that would have worked better if it was around the middle of the episode as then we would have gotten the chance to see Worzel have more interactions with the villagers and set him as this type of character that the villagers say terrorizes them in later episodes but in this episode they don't get the chance to have a good look at him as he runs off before they have that chance with the episode even dropping the whole point that Mrs. Braithwaite makes near the start of the episode where she says that since John and Sue are saying that he's falling apart then Worzel shall go on the compost heap first thing in the morning something which never comes into play outside of Worzel running away and that's really it but to be fair to this episode tho while it doesn't give the characters any kind of character development as both John and Sue remain the same at the end of the episode as they were at the start of the episode the episode does give Worzel some character development as he finally says thank you to john and Sue for helping him out of trouble but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. With all of this episodes jokes being cute in a funny kind of way which is something that this show is really good at doing as this is show is known for having episodes that are either really sad , really scary or in this case really funny as alot of the episodes jokes are just really funny jokes with John Pertwee making alot of faces that help to make those jokes even more funnier then what they really should have been and heck even the idea of Worzel thinking that beds have feeling just because like him there made of straw is a really cute and funny idea as it's something that this character would say and is more then likely something that all scarecrows in this show also believe to be true as well with the best joke in the whole entire episode being when John and Sue enter Worzels home in the barn and he stops them several times the first of which is due to them stepping through what he thinks is his bedroom wall before then getting them to knock on a door that he doesn't really have all the while the kids are quite clearly trying not to crack up laughing which is just such a cute joke even more so when they bring that joke back at the end of the episode when the kids find him in a field and this time step through what he believes is his front window with alot of the episodes jokes being just as delightfully silly and wonderfully well done as those two jokes were as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this episode is one that is really a good example of the show when it was at it's absolute best as it has all of the thins that helped to make this show as good as it was as it's really just such a good episode and is one of the shows more better episodes but in saying that tho there more better episodes of this show out there in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i.ve talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Amazon . Co . Uk and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get the images from this very episode that I used in this very review being the really great Google Images really simply just due to the fact that really alot of if not really all of the images that are all really from this very episode with alot of them being better quality then what you'd really think of and all of the images are really of course up and really on Google Images are also really all fairly high in quality and as well as them all being really fairly freaking high in definition.

Worzel Gummidge "Moving On" Review

It's fairly safe to say at this point in time that I really do love Worzel Gummidge so much so that I own all of the episodes from the original Jon Pertwee version of the show on remastered DVD. With the episode that i'm going to be reviewing for you all today being an episode that does kind of set the tone for what we would get in the following sequel series Worzel Gummidge Down Under and so then join me as I review the episode that could technically be considered the first part of a two part episode with the episode in question being called simply just "Moving On" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when The Peter's and The Braithwaights return from there join holiday to Tenerife they find there home in shambles as both Worzel and Aunt Sally have been living there and now Worzel has to find a way of being reunited with his beloved Aunt Sally when a fairground collector comes by and picks her up with the hopes of restoring her to her former glory. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad but at the same time tho this episodes plot wasn't all that good either as even tho the next episode has next to nothing to do with this episode in terms of plot outside of Worzel , Aunt Sally and later The Crowman being in a new location this episodes plot does feel like that it's just one long prolog to a much more better episode that's not to say that this episodes plot is bad because it's not infact there times where the old charm that this show had when it just focused on Worzel as a character really does begin to shine through but because of the fact that this is the era where Aunt Sally was forced into alot of episodes it's not a plot that's as fun as it really could have been and while you can't really see the ending coming it's the events that lead up to the ending that let the whole thing down as this is a plot that really could have been handled much more better then what it was in the final episode with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Doctor Who star Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge and Una Stubbs as Aunt Sally. Also starring in this episode is Norman Bird as Mr. Braithwaite, Megs Jenkins as Mrs. Braithwaite , Mike Berry as Mr. Peters , Charlotte Coleman as Sue Peters , Jeremy Austin as John Peters , Diana Van Proosdy as Mrs. Cousins , Geoffrey Bayldon as The Crowman and Aysha Mitchell as Emma.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really good. Which for this show is really nothing all that new as all of this shows episodes including the ones that aren't that good all have the same thing in common and that's the fact that the acting in all of them is nearly always top notch with the same thing being true for this episode as well as all of this episodes actors really do turn in some really good performances which is something that does make alot of sense as this show had an OSCAR winning director directing all but one of the shows episodes in director James Hill who it is said treated this show like he was making his next big feature length film and that is something that does shine through in the episodes performances as he always demanded the best work from all of the actors that he worked with be they kids or adults and because of that it meant that we got to see some truly wonderful pieces of acting not only from this show but from this episode as well with it being hard to say just who the best actor in this episode really was they all turn in some really great performances in their own right with the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

What this episode does do that alot of other Aunt Sally focused episodes don't do is show us both Worzel and Aunt Sally together and happy. As alot of the time we see them arguing with each other and Aunt Sally usually betraying Worzel's trust and love for her by the end of the episode something which is still in the episode but alot of the time we actually get to see them happy and act friendly to one another which is something that does make for a refreshing and while Aunt Sally will never ever truly love Worzel due to the fact that she has to much of an ego that's half the fun of the episode is just seeing these characters one of which doesn't like the other and the other is completely and madly in love with the other just get along with one another and while other episodes have shown them acting friendly to each other in the past it's never usually for alot of the episode and is more usually then not just for a few minuets of that episodes running time where as here they act like good friends for the vast majority of the episode which was sweet as it gave us the audience a chance to see that Aunt Sally can be kind to Worzel regardless of if she's going to be getting something out of it or not but at the same time that also makes Worzel all the more foolish as even tho he's a scarecrow of very little brain he really should have learned by now that she will hurt him and break his heart something that she does at the end of the episode when she runs off right infront of him to join the fair only now Worzel runs after her which only makes the heartbreak that he goes through in the following episode all the more upsetting as we the audience know just how far he's willing to go to be with the woman that he truly loves even if it's going to cause him alot of heartache in the process.

Again what was interesting about this episode in particular was seeing Worzel and Aunt Sally sharing a house together. With this being something that Worzel had always wanted and Aunt Sally had aways wanted a house of there own and yet even so they still do fall back onto old habits with Worzel doing anything and everything that Aunt Sally says but messing it up in his own unique way and Aunt Sally bossing him around and doing whatever it takes to make sure that she herself doesn't get to do any of the housework something which does feel true to who both of these characters as Worzel would do anything that she says as that's how he thinks that she's expressing her love for him and Aunt Sally would go about doing anything to avoid doing any of the housework as she's a big time diva with the ego to match it and the fact that the house that they've chosen to live in actually belongs to The Braithwaights does work as well as while any of those characters would never go abroad for a holiday the fact that they left there house unattended made it perfect for Worzel and Aunt Sally to go wild and have there way with it something which they did take full advantage of altho given that the farm hand Harry was meant to be looking after the place and was nowhere to be seen throughout the entire episode does make you wonder what he was up to as the episode does kind of start of a plot with Mr. Braithwaite believing Harry to be the one that caused all of the mess in the house and around the farm yard but the episode does drop it for no good reason which is understandable as the episode is meant to be all about Worzel and Aunt Sally and to be fair the two living together is more then enough for comedy gold to happen.

As was mentioned at the very start of this review this episode does kind of start something that the sequel series Worzel Gummidge Down Under would also do and that's the two part episode. As while this episode isn't a two-parter in the more traditional meaning of the word the next episode does mainly feature Worzel and Aunt Sally now working at the fair that Worzel was chasing after at the end of this episode with The Crowman eventually catching up to him but that's really the only thing that connects the two episodes but it is something that does show you that the makers of this show were more then willing to make these stories that do require more then one episode in order to do them justice and while these two episodes aren't the best example of how to do a two part episode the very fact that they tried to do one at all with the limited main characters and still somehow managed to make a memorable new character in Dolly Clothes Peg does go to show you that even with a very limited set of characters and very little plot to actually follow up on magic can still happen if you have the right creative team involved but even with that said the two part episodes that they did do in Worzel Gummidge Down Under are better in the regards that there actually stories that do require more then episode to tell there story and do take full advantage of being a two part episode by making those episodes not only more ambitious then the rest of the shows episodes but also at times alot more scary as well where as with  this two part episode and this episode in particular it felt like that they were playing things a bit to safe with the story that was being told.

For some odd reason the makers of this episode don't really do much with The Crowman with him being just behind Worzel and Aunt Sally for alot of the episode. This is despite the fact that previous episodes have established the fact that he always knows where all of his scarecrows are thanks to his Pigeons telling him so which makes you wonder why he just didn't use them in this episode and catch up to both Worzel and Aunt Sally before Worzel took his bike at the end of the episode as that then would made the characters inclusion in this episode seem more relevant and would have been more true to his character because as things are him being in the episode just feels like a set up for the ending of the next episode as he has very little to do in this episode which does make you wonder why the character was forced into this episode as the Worzel creative team are usually pretty good about what characters get included in what episode with them all serving a purpose in the episode that there in and yet here they seemed to have dropped the ball as The Crowman would know straight away where to find Worzel and Aunt Sally and while he might not be able to stop Aunt Sally from leaving the village as he didn't create her he did create Worzel and could therefor persuade him to remain in the village but for whatever reason the makers of this episode just chose to have remain just behind whatever Worzel and Aunt Sally are doing and ignoring all of his scarecrows which is something that does feel very out of character for him this is despite the fact that it's been shown in several episodes that he does have other scarecrows to look after apart from Worzel Gummidge and so he would therefor want to give them as much attention as he gives him.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty five minuets and fifty nine seconds. Which to be fair to this episode is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this show to have with the episode even having the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time and the episode even makes great use of it's running time as the plot of the episode does feel as fully developed as it was going to be considering that this is basically the first part of a two part episode even the following the episode doesn't really follow up on the plots from this episode and just does it's own thing with even the episodes characters being a fully developed as they could have been which is something that's not really a praise for this episode as alot of this episodes characters are the series main characters and have therefor been in alot of the previous and so it would make sense for them to be fully developed characters as we the audience have had several episodes at this point in time to really get to know there characters and choose weather or not that we like them or not with really the only character that's not that well developed is the character of Mrs. Cousins however this isn't a negative thing as the character only appears in this one episode and is never seen from again in the rest of the show with the same thing also being true for her daughter Emma and so of course they won't that well developed as characters and to be fair the episode doesn't really suffer because of there lack of character development either but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. With the episode having alot of moments in it that whilst they aren't laugh out funny they are cute enough jokes that people will find them funny regardless with those being the kind of jokes where this show excel as alot of the stuff with Worzel just trying to please Aunt Sally but messing it up will always be funny because of the fact that Worzel is just a likable character that we the audience will find alot of the stuff that does to be funny automatically because of the fact that Worzel himself is a funny character and paring him with Aunt Sally will always result in comedy gold with both Jon Pertwee and Una Stubbs having such great comedic timing together that they can make alot of things funny with even the fact that Aunt Sally manages to hit Worzel on the head with a serving tray being a really joke as it feels like something that she would do especially when she's angry at him like she was in this episode and the fact that the episode ends with both of them actually like friends just naming cakes together is a really cute joke with it being hard to say just what the best joke is in this episode as all of this episodes jokes including the stuff with The Peter's and The Braithwaights returning from their holiday and just having people brush past them in a tightly packed British restaurant is a funny joke in it's own with all of this episodes being some really good jokes in their own right as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst this episode isn't the series best episode as the episode does have alot of things that are wrong with it with those issues becoming more of a common thread with the fourth series of this show but in saying that this was still a really solid episode in it's own right as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad rings that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Worzel Gummidge "Worzel The Brave" Review

There are some shows that you just excited about when you think about talking more about them with that love and passion coming throw every single time you do talk about them. With one of those shows being the original 1979 version of Worzel Gummidge as that show was so full of charm and whimsy that it could be aired today and kids today really would still love it and while there alot of really good episodes in this show the show does also have some really average episodes much like the episode that i'm going to be reviewing for you all today but even this shows average episodes really are still better then alot of bad episodes from other TV shows and so then join me as I review the episode that sees a new face buy the big manor house with the episode in question being called simply just "Worzel The Brave" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when Colonel Bloodstock moves into the manor house formerly owned by Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton he finds himself having to deal with Worzel Gummidge who is trying to convince Aunt Sally that he can be brave. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not the best of plot that this show has every had but in saying that it is still a good and goofy plot it's just that this show has had much more better plots and is quite clearly starting to show signs of running out of steam as this episodes plot just feels like that it's going through the motions with there being nothing to this plot and while that is fine as this show in particular the third and fourth series of the show did have alot of goofy plots to there episodes and indeed the episode before this one "A Fair Pull Over" was a goofy plot but at the same time tho the show always knew to balance out the more goofier plots with the plots that really had heart and emotion to them and that's something that's lost with this episodes plot as it tries to do both without realizing that both of those aspects just don't work with each other but when this episodes plot is fun to watch it can be a really fun filled plot it's just one that might be considered a tad bit to goofy even for this show with this episodes plot also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Doctor Who star Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge and Michael Ripper as Mr. Shepherd. Also starring in this episode is Mike Berry as Mr. Peters , Charlotte Coleman as Sue Peters , Jeremy Austin as John Peters , Una Stubbs as Aunt Sally , Denis Gilmore as Harry , Geoffrey Bayldon as The Crowman and The Pure Hell Of St. Trinian's star Thorley Walters as Colonel Bloodstock.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As all of this episodes are a bunch of really good actors in their own right and while Thorley Walters won't ever match up to just how wonderfully snobbish Jan Simms was in the role of Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton he does still manage to make the character appear to be somewhat of a snob only this time it's not because of wealth rather it's because of the fact that he was in the army with his performance in this episode being perfectly suited for that kind of character with all of the episodes actors turning in some really good performances as well which is something that does make alot of sense as all f them had been playing there respective characters for three years up until this point and therefor they would of course know how best to perform there respective characters and that is something that does shine through in there respective performances as all of the actors turn in performances that feel just right for there respective characters with the acting that's in this very episode also being helped by the fact that thus episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which s something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode.

As was just mentioned at the start of this review this episode sees the introduction of Colonel Bloodstock. With the episode explaining that he's the new owner of the manor house and while his character could be seen as being entertaining as he's an military man who believes that discipline is what everybody needs he's also not that fun of a character t watch in screen either Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton for all of her snobbery was still a fun character to watch be it due to her facial expressions whenever a room in her house got destroyed or her trying to scam the villagers into giving her free things there was always something fun going on with that character and yet with this Colonel Bloodstock character none of that is present with the character being very by the book and being the kind of the character that has to do things a certain way which is fine for his character as it ties back into his military background but at the same time tho it doesn't make him a fu character to watch as there should be somethin about this character that still makes him a fun filled character be it him thinking that he's still in a war or him just refusing to give away even the smallest amount of his money as either one of those things would made him a more fun filled character to watch and while the makers of this show more then likely could have added in those aspects t his character if he returned for the fourth series they don't get the chance do as the character only appears in a few series three episodes and the christmas special before being removed entirely from the show without any sort of given reason as to why he's no longer in the show.

This episode does introduce to the brave head a head that is designed to make it's wearer incredibly brave. Which is a good idea and having Worzel wear it thinking that it will also win him the heart of Aunt Sally but when it doesn't The Crowman does give him a good speech how being brave isn't enough to make someone truly happy as all being brave does is end up with tears in a woman's eye which is a good message to send to kids as while being brave can be a good thing like conquering your fears or standing up to bullies it is something that can cause people deep upset like going head first into a war which yes is a brave thing to do but it will also mean that people will get upset by it as well with this episode teach kids to pick and choose when to be brave and when not to be brave as sometimes the bravest thing that you can do is say no to people and while having Worzel learn this lesson is typical for this show to do as they often had Worzel learn these tough life lessons it is something that does work as he is a scarecrow with very little brain and therefor having him learn when to be brave and when not to be brave does make sense from a character standpoint the issue is tho is that it does come out of nowhere as at no time in the episode do we get to see Worzel cause pain to those around him due to him being brave something that would have made the message hit home all the more harder and yet by having it appear in the last few minuets of the episode does make it feel like the message was more of an afterthought and forced because of it.

Speaking of Aunt Sally she gets shockingly very little to do in this episode which is both refreshing and yet at the same time not something that works for this episode. It's refreshing in that pretty much from this series onwards the character would feature in alot of the episodes plots more often then not being the main character of the plot and yet here she's more of a side character in the plot then a straight up main character but at the same time tho given that the plot of the episode does actively revolve around her it would have made more sense for the character to take more of an active role in the episodes plot rather then just appearing in a very small handful of scenes here and there and that's really it as all that does is lessen the characters impact on the plot where as if she chose not to go to the manor house and return to her owners house as was originally intended then Worzel wouldn't have gone after her at the manor house and there wouldn't have run into Colonel Bloodstock but because she did go the manor house and even got back her old job as parlor maid as well that mean that the plot of this episode then ended up taking place thus making the character a key plot point and yet she does very little in the actual episode when it would have made more sense for her to try and get Colonel Bloodstock to actually harm Worzel which is something that would be in her character to do only for her to be won over by the fact that Worzel isn't backing down to him as that would give the Aunt Sally character alot more to do in the episode but she gets the gold star treatment when compared to The Crowman as he only gets three scenes in the whole episode and that's it even tho he's meant to be Worzel conscience and has a big speech at the end of the episode.

While having Worzel cry when Aunt Sally leaves him broken hearted does usually work well as it's something that's been earned. Here it's not something that worked all that well as for the vast majority of the episode Aunt Sally wasn't leading Worzel on at all with her straight up telling him that she didn't want to be with him and therefor having him upset when she does get made at him at the end episode isn't something that works as it's Worzel that was in the wrong all throughout this episode even tho he didn't know it with this being a good example of this show slowly starting to run out of steam as having Worzel cry when it's one right be a really effective thing to do but it's something that does have to work and can't be something that's thrown in at the last minuet just to get people on Worzel's side as all that does is make it less effective when he does cry again as it makes it a cheap way to get emotion out of people when this kind of storytelling should only be saved for when it's earned as there was no need to have Worzel be crying at the end of the episode as The Crowman even warned him not to use the brave head and yet he did it anyway knowing full well that it could cause him some form of pain and yet he still did anyway with the only way that having Worzel crying be something that actually works in this episode was if we saw Aunt Sally actually lead Worzel on all throughout the episode by saying that she will marry him if he did show her that he can be brave only to then change her mind at the end of the episode as that is something that would justify him being upset at the end of the episode as we would have seen her lead him on all throughout the episode.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty six minuets and nine seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for this shoe to have in the first place with this episode really having the right amount of plot there to cover that amount of running time but at the same time this episode really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the episodes plot isn't as developed as it could have been and the we don't really get a reason as to why Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton would even want to sell her house in the first place as it's not something that she'd want to do in the first place and yet this is something that this episode doesn't take the time to explain away as she had become an entertaining character and yet she's not given a proper goodbye with the episodes plot not being that well developed as it seems like things are just happening for the same of happening which to be fair is pretty typical for alot of this shows more goofier plots but at the same time tho this show does have a habit of developing it's plots to the point where they feel well rounded where as here with this episode we don't get any of that of that as the episode has to not only establish why Aunt Sally is back in the village but also set up this new character and that's something that it could in short running time with that meaning that things like the episodes plot can't be that developed and while yes granted this episodes plot is alot more better then what it really could have been t's s still a plot that could have been alot more better then what it is if it was a more well developed plot but I really will admit that this episode really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

With there being some cute and funny moments all throughout this episode and while yes granted there alot more better jokes in other and better episodes of this show there are still some decent jokes to be found in this episode as well with the idea of Worzel being forced to speak in what might be a German accent when he's wearing the brave head is a funny idea in it's own right and yet it's one that's totally in keeping with the shows lore as the show would have Worzel change his personality when he wears a different head but very rarely if ever would it force him into changing his accent and yet here with this head that's exactly what it does and it's joke that does work well enough for this episode and yet that's not the best joke of this episode as that doesn't come from anything that the characters say rather it comes from a cut in the episode as near the end of the episode Worzel in his brave head defeat Colonel Bloodstock and gets Aunt Sally on his horse and they ride away with some romantic music swelling only to then cut to Worzel in his barn with Aunt Sally crying with her realizing that this is her happy ending in a way which is such a good joke and one that is quite frankly the best joke in this whole episode as it's one that's just that funny of a joke in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a decent episode but it's still not this show back from when it was at it's best as it does feel like that this show was staring to run of steam but at the same time given just how good this shows writers where even this show on it's bad day is still better then alot of shows on there best day in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all the good and ass well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very review well doe earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Amazon .
