Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 SPOILER FILLED Review

There are alot of Batman shows out there some of them are great like Batman: The Animated Series and so of them are god awful like Batfam. Yet there is one show that not alot of people know even came back for a second season as not alot of people are talking this is despite the fact that a few years ago EVERYONE was talking about the shows first season well this reviewer didn't forget and it's that very season that i'm going to be talking to you all about today and so then join me as I review the second season of the how that is actually a step up from the first season with the show in question being called simply just "Batman: Caped Crusader" enjoy.

The plot of this season is sometime after the events of Season 1 Rupert Thorn and his son go missing with Thorn leaving The Riddler in charge with Batman having to try and stop him and a more dangerous foe lurking in the shadows. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very season well in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very season was in all honesty really good. This seasons plot is alot more better then the plot of the first season was as you don't really know what's going to happen this time around with that being the very thing that does make this seasons plot feel not only unpredictable but also more in line with the kinds of plots that they would do on Batman: The Animated Series. As with that show if you look at all of the best episodes alot of them all have the same thing in common and that's the fact that you can't tell where the plots are going and while this seasons individual plots aren't that good as alot of them do have have forgettable plots it's the ones that focus more on the seasons plot that do turn out to be the better episodes of the season as you don't really know where the episodes plot is going to go next and they help to further the seasons main plot in creative ways all of which do work and while yes the seasons main plot could have been better in some respects as the the season does have episodes that don't do anything with the seasons plot there's denying the fact that the plot of this season is alot better then the one that we got last season with the plot of this season also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very season well in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very season was in all honesty really good. This seasons acting was equally on par with the acting from the last last season which in this case is by no means a bad thing as the overall acting un that last season was really good and while there are some better acted episodes in this season that is something that you do get in any given TV show with it being obvious that alot of the season actors who are coming back for this season have grown into there characters quite well and while they won't even be able to replace Kevin Conroy , Mark Hamill or even Tara Strong for that matter this season actors do do a good enough job of playing these characters in their own right. With the best actor in this season quite easily being Matthew Needham as The Joker as while the character doesn't really take centre stage until the final two episodes of the season Matthew does make them count and when he does take centre stage he does come across as being a more creepy version of The Joker with him giving the character alot of threat and menace whilst still maintaining the characters dog chasing a car mentality and yet it doesn't feel at odds with the rest of the seasons actors as while it would have been very easy for him to go over the top with the character as that is fitting for any take on the character the fact that the makers of this season really chose not to do that and rather keep the performance for the character small and creepy does make the character all the more creepier which is something that does shine through in his performance. With the acting that's in this very season really being helped by the fact that this season scripts are just so good that all this seasons actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very season.

Doing the animation for this season is Studio Grida and the legends and the greats that are currently over at Studio IAM. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very season well in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very season was in all honesty really good. This seasons animation was quite frankly alot more better then what it really had any right to be as it did times bring back memories of Batman: The Animated series and it's animation as both this show and that show do share a very similar art style yet in this season it does feel like that the art style was pushed to about as far as they could go with it. As there are times where the characters look like they would be more at home in Batman: The Animated Series rather then this show due to the fact that the shows do share a very similar look to them with even some of Gotham's buildings for example looking like how they did in that show with this being something that does help to rob this show of its own look and feel, this season does mix in a good dose of 3D CGI animation with alot of the cars and other vehicles being rendered in 3D which is something that you can tell right away as it does stand out like a sore thumb and while it does make sense that the makers of this show would chose to go this route for its vehicles there still should have been some effort to make them blend in as much as possible with the rest of the seasons animation and while the characters do have some fluid animation in the action they oddly don't when it comes to the seasons walking scenes where there movements become a lot more stilted.

Like with the first season this season does also have a few nods and winks to both The Animated Series and oddly enough Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm. With there being shot somewhere early on in the season that is similar to the opening of The Animated Series intro with the two guys robbing a bank which was a fun tip off the hat to see as the first season ended with a nod to that very same intro yet much more later on in the season we get a mention of The Gotham Worlds Fair which was of course the main setting of Mask Of The Phantasm which while it was fun to hear that reference when you add in the fact that the show does look like The Animated Series all it ends up doing is reminding you that you could be watching a much more better and well loved show and movie. This is not to say that the show should stop tipping it's hat to The Animated Series heck they even mention The Grey Ghost in an episode with Carrie Kelly which again was fun to see but there has to be line between tipping your hat to the past and outright copying what worked so well in the first place and here with this show and this season it does feel like the makers of the show were copying things that worked in the previous show and that's not fair to this show as the idea of a more serialized Batman animated TV show is a good idea but given that the show does look and feel like The Animated Series is just makes you want to watch that show and not think about this one, with the only two places where this show does stand out being in the character designs which depending on the character either does or doesn't work and the fact that this season does have alot more gory and shocking deaths with it being revealed that Rupert Thorn and his son were frozen to death by this shows version of Mister Freeze.

As you might recall from the first seasons cliffhanger ending the man villain for this season is The Joker. Which is such a smart move on the behalf of the makers of this show as that character is perfect for this type of show and having be in the background for pretty much the first half of the season making us thing that it'll be The Riddler that's the main villain only to have The Joker fully take over in the last two episodes is a good move as it is something that we wouldn't see coming as while we did know that the character would be in this season in some capacity due to again the first season cliffhanger what we didn't know was how big of a role the character would play in the season and while he doesn't play that big of a role he plays a big enough role to make him a memorable villain. Heck out of him and The Riddler who are the two big villains this season it's The Joker that comes off as being all the more better as while The Riddler is just as crazy as ever with him killing people at random or just because they made him mad for a second that does feel out of character for him whereas with The Joker and seeing acting more cold and calculated whilst still being this dark and menacing creature of chaos does feel true to who he is as a character as this version of the character is trying to kill all of Gotham to get its citizens to see themselves for who he thinks that they really are with him not really having an end goal outside of that and that is perfect for The Joker as he does do whatever he wants to do just because he can, with him even presenting a true threat to Batman as while The Riddler was able to out smart Batman several times The Joker has always been able to push the limits of how far Batman is willing to go to stop a criminal with this being something that he does do in this season with Batman only just being able to hold of on killing him. 

We do get different version of classic Batman villains in this season with the character of Mister Zero pretty much just being Mister Freeze and the character of Thorn pretty much just being Poison Ivy even down to them both having a love of plants. This is something that makes no sense at all as those villains are so well known even today that you could just have them be called there classic names and it would still work as the show is keeping alot of things about the characters in the first place that they are still just those iconic characters and if your going to change the characters name then why not go all out and make it a new character all together why not make Thorn for example be someone who hates plants and wants to destroy all plant life on earth and why not make Mister Zero someone who is just really good at cleaning up the messes that the mob leaves behind them. As those would still work as villains as it makes it easier for us the audience to hate them as characters and yet due to the fact that the makers of this show are pretty much just making them those characters al it does is make us wonder why they aren't calling Poison Ivy Poison Ivy and again like with the first season they do a gender swap of a classic villain with it being The Mad Hatter this go around and to be frank it is something that does work alot more better this go around as they aren't so in your face about it with the character in this season being the host of a talk show that just bashes everything that Batman and the GCPD does whilst praising all of the villains with the character only appearing in a few handful of episodes before she gets killed of near the end of the season which is a good way to use her.

Now then this season has / had an exact grand total running time of no longer of no longer then twenty eight minuets. With there being ten episodes in this season one being around twenty seven minuets in length and while the show is ten episode the episode count does make this season a bit of a chore to watch as there are plenty of filler episodes that don't do anything to the plot and are purely there to fill out the episodes order as you very easily could have told this seasons entire story line in about five maybe six episodes at a stretch and yet for one reason or another the makers of this show thought that we needed a good ten episodes to tell this story when all that does is drag out the seasons plot with the season having just about enough plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place. Yet even with the season being ten episodes long it still doesn't take all that much time to fully develop either it's episodic plot or it's season long with both plots coming across as being undercooked when the season had plenty of time to fully develop it's main plot as all it would have to do is just have more episodes that are focusing on the main plot to fully flesh it out and for the episodic plots it would need to have scenes in there that that are all about pushing that episodes plot forward and making it feel more well developed and yet the makers of this season clearly put more time and effort into making nods and winks to The Animated Series that we ended up getting a more weaker developed plot. With the same thing even being true for the seasons character development as while Batman got some character development last season by learning to trust Alfred here he gets none with him even having the same character arc as the last season only now it's with the GCPD characters with none of them getting any character development either the makers of this show being more focused on giving classic villains new names then they are in giving it's characters character development but I really will admit that this season really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty really good. With each of the seasons ten episodes having at the very least one action scene in it with some naturally being better then others with the fact that we have this many action scenes per episode does serve to make the point that when this show gets it right like it does with alot of this seasons action then it really does get it right as the action in this season is just so good that it makes you want to watch the rest of the episode. With the best action scene in the entire season being the fight scene with The Joker in episode 10 "The Laughing Death" as we get to see Batman and The Joker just go all out in a what is basically a fight to the death while on top on a building while Gotham is in chaos around them due to The Jokers Joker Venom being around to everyone including Alfred and James Gordon with Batman only just being able to cure Alfred who then flies that Batplane over Gotham spreading the cute all the while Batman and the Joker are still duking it out neither one being able to best the other one with it only being due to Joker leaping of he building himself that the fight finally ends, this is a good way to end the season as it does this great season out on a high note as we want to see these two character duking it out and going all out and that's exactly what we got with the rest of the seasons action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this season was easily ten times better then the first season and it is a shame that not alot of people are watching this new season as while your not going to be seeing anything groundbreaking like with The Animated Series but you would see is something that was a huge step in the right direction in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very season in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very season really does earn itself a grand ld score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Batman: Caped Crusader :Savage Night Review

Right now alot of people are looking at the live action side of DC as they have Supergirl superbombing at the box office , they've just released the trailer for Clayface and there a few weeks away from dropping Lanterns. Yet there is one more TV show that's coming back for it's second season that alot of people aren't talking about be it in a negative or a positive way and well I thought that i'd remind you about this show by doing a tie in review with the shows first season finale and so then join me as I review the episode that sees Batman finally call Alfred by his first name with the episode in question being called simply just "Savage Night" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is Harvey Dent finds himself facing jail time for murders committed by Two-Face and it's up to Batman , Barbera , Jim Gordon and Renee Montoya to get him to the court house safely and alive. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. This episodes plot to be frank isn't as good as it could have been as it does rely on you having past knowledge of the prior episodes which is a great if you were telling one whole story over the course of the season but alot of the time this show was telling separate stories and therefor it does make sense that this episode should follow suit in this regard. However even not taking that into account the episodes plot still isn't that strong as it doesn't feel like the plot of a the typical season finale rather it feels like the plot to an episode that could have been placed anywhere in the season order and it would have made just as much sense as this plot oddly enough isn't big enough for a season finale as it's just the characters trying to get this one person to the court house for his hearing on time and that's it and like episodes of Batman: The Animated Series also had episodes like this none of them were meant to be season finales therefor that show does get away somewhat with having episodes that are plotted like this one, the plot does have some upsides like the fact that it is this small scale story does make all the more interesting to watch as there's nothing big happening plot wise for alot of the episode with the plot of this episode also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. This episodes acting was quite frankly alot more better then what it really had any right to be due to the fact that the actors in this episode do have alot of big shoes to fill from other Batman animated projects and to be fair they do do some really good work in this episode and not taking the other episodes into account this episodes actin could have been alot more better as we do know that alot of this episodes actors are a bunch of a really good actors in there own right and yet alot of the time they very feel miscast as is the case with Hamish Linklater or aren't used right like with Jason Watkins. With the best actor in the whole episode being oddly enough John DiMaggio as while he does have this really recognizable voice alot of the time in this episode you don't really know that it's him playing these characters as he does hide his voice alot of the time with the sign if a great voice actor being if they really can surprise you when it's revealed that they've really played a certain character and that's what John DiMaggio did in this episode as alot of the time he really doesn't use his very recognizable he gives his characters more of a different voice and it is with those voice really fitting those characters and it is something that really does shine though in his performance. With the acting that's in this very episode really being helped by the fact that this episodes script is just so good that all this episodes actors has to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of the naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very episode. 

Doing the animation for this episode is the legends and the really greats that are currently over at Studio IAM. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. As while the episodes animation well never ever be able to top the animation seen in Batman: The Animated Series it is hard not ignore the two animation wise as they do share a very similar style and yet with this episode the animation whilst it isn't bad it's also not all that good either as alot of the episode does feel really flat both interms of where the camera is placed and what it is that they do in the episode from an animation standpoint. Whereas in Batman: The Animated Series the camera would be placed in this unique places that would be impossible to do in live action without the need a lot CGI where as here the camera is always placed in a mid shot type angel which is fine for one or two shots but alot of the shots are like this with the makers of this episode not really getting all that creative with it's use of animation as while there are only so many thing that you can do with these characters in an animated setting here it just felt like the makers of this episode where just for lack of a better word here being lazy almost as if they had ran out of ideas in the previous episodes and just weren't bothered to be creative with this episodes animation and while granted having the episode be set at night as a good way to hide all of the flaws in the animation having things like a CGI background and a few CGI vehicles doesn't really help matter all that much, however when the episode does to do some really solid animation like of the character of Harvey Dent for example or the episodes that is when we get to see just how good that the animation in this episode really could have been. 

This episode does of course end with them hinting that we'll be getting a much more darker version of The Joker in this forthcoming season. The teaser itself doesn't really give away what it is that he'll be up to in the season as we only see him testing Joker venom on various victims before he laughs at the camera which to be fair is all you need to do with a character as well as known The Joker as every one knows who he is anyways and given the fact that this show is meant to be set during Batman's early years as a hero it does make sense that he would come across  him when he's a slightly more established hero with it even appearing from the teaser that we well be getting this more dark and twisted version of the character. This is something that should work as The Joker whilst yes he is meant to be funny his dark jokes are only meant to be funny to him and no one else as he is someone who has lost his mind and will therefor do anything to anyone just because he can do and given the fact that one of the makers of this show is Bruce Timm who helped to make him well known in the nineties it is safe to say that this version could be in safe hands, however tho there are somethings that the makers of this episode would need to get right about the character to make this version of work that being the fact that he has to be scary and not not just little kid scary either i'm talking someone who can make both the adults and the kids watching the show scared of him just by giving them a look as you don't want to be routing for this character you wan to be routing for Batman to stop his crimes and the second thing being the fact that he does need to be unpredictable if I can work out what his plan is before it's even revealed then it's not a good take on the character the plan needs to be as unpredictable as the character is and if the makers of this sow get those things right then this new take on the character will be a good version of the character to have.

The episode on the whole isn't that bad as there are alot of good things in it like the friendship between Barbera and Harvey was really sweet something which does lead to Harvey dying a good guy as he gets shot in the back by Arnold Flass with his death being another high point in the episode as it is this long a drawn out death where we get to see the character shot not once but twice. This is something that does make his death all the more both satisfying and upsetting its upsetting in the fact that he didn't die as a villain he died trying to do the right thing by projecting someone who was just just trying to do right by him and yet at the same time it's satisfying due to the fact that it was this long a drawn out thing whereas if it was just over a in a few seconds it wouldn't have the same weight on the episode that it clearly does have due to to it being longer. The over truly good thing in the episode is the fact that we get to see Batman get pushed to the edge and still come back OK as we after Harvey is killed Batman takes Flass's gun and makes it look like he is going to shoot him which is something that would make sense as Harvey was Bruce's best friend after all and yet even so Batman fires the gun around Flass as a way to warn him and doesn't use the gun to kill him this was something that the makers if this episode really didn't need to do as the episode would still work without that scene but its the fact that they went the extra mile to add in a scene like that that does show you that even someone as dark as Batman can at times get pushed so far where he believes that that the only way to stop a criminal is not by the law but by killing them himself as that is how far that he could have gone in this episode and yet he manages to hold himself back thus being more human then the the criminals are.

The whole thing with Harvey refusing to go court for the crimes that he committed as Two-Face was a rather interesting thing to have in the episode. Yet the episode does drop this part of the episode just as quickly as it does start it which is a shame as it would have made the episode alot more interesting to see if it was mainly just Harvey struggling to cope with the fact that he committed all of these terrible crimes as Two-Face as while he knows that the two of them are vastly different people inside and out to the outside world both Harvey Dent and Two-Face are one in the same and seeing how the world would react to him doing these crimes is something that would have been an interesting angle to take in the episode given how high up in power Harvey Dent is. Yet the episode drops this aspect pretty soon after it starts it all for no good reason which just leaves us with a bland and generic episode of the show that has not that much going for it this is something that would have been OK if it was maybe the the first episode in the season as then you could argue that the season will only get better but this is the season finale this is where everything that's gone on in the season pays off and yet it's just left feeling like an average episode with the only thing that did make it interesting being stripped out of it for no reason as the makers of this episode really could have kept the fact that Harvey is struggling to cope with what he did as Two-Face and still have the episode go ahead as planned and then have it be that he decides to be fully Harvey again when he does save Barbera's life this is something that would have made his death all the more heartbreaking as while a few people will know that he died fully as Harvey Dent to the rest of the world he would have died as Two-Face.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty five minuets and fifty four seconds. This is pretty much the bogstandard running time for the show and to be fair this is an episode that really does need to have that long of running time just due to the fact that it does tie up some characters arcs in this first season but yeah it is hard to deny the fact that this episode really doesn't need to be this long as the episode doesn't have a plot that requires it be that this long as you very easily could tell this episodes plot in twenty two minuets and not have to cut anything that's all that important to the plot of the episode itself with the episode itself having more then enough plot there to cover this amount of running time in the first place. Yet even with this in mind the episode still doesn't use its running time all that wisely due to the fact that this episode really does doesn't its running time all that wisely as the episode doesn't take the time to fully fully develop which in all fairness it really didn't need to do as one could make the argument that the sow itself did that all of its episodes and it therefor wasn't needed in this episode but it still would have been nice if this episode did get some plot development with the makers of this episode being more focused on giving us scene between Harvey and Barbara then in giving us plot development. The same thing cannot be said for the episodes character development as the episode does take the time to give Batman of all people some character development as if you'll remember he does go through the entire season calling Alfred Pennyworth and yet at the end of this episode because of what he's seen Harvey do and what Alfred has just said to him he does very briefly call him Alfred with the rest of the episodes characters not really getting any kind of character development whatso ever but i really will admit that this episode really does gave some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is  an action show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / fell that the actual action thats actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty OK at best. This was something that was quite shocking as when you think of action scenes inn animated Batman films or TV show you do usually think of some pretty cool and yet there stuff and yet here it did feel like that the makers of this episode were holding themselves back when they should have been letting them selfs go as nuts as they wanted to do as they do have a character in Batman that does allow for that to happen. With the best action scene in the whole entire episode being the scene at the harbor as that's when we get to see Batman make good us of alot of his gadgets in fun fun ways like him using Batarang to knock someone out or he uses a hook that he fires from his gun to swig away to try and see where Barbara and Harvey are with us even getting a cool take down when Batman leaps of a container kicking a villain in the face which is a really cool thing to see in the episode and even tho the episode is largely set at the harbor the episode does make good use of it by giving an action scene that we haven't seen before with this being something that does make this episodes action scene feel different from all of the other action scenes in this show as by all rights this episodes action could have been really bad and yet it wasn't with the rest of the episodes action being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while we don; have to wait to long to see what season two of this show is going to bring what we can say from the trailer is that it does look like we are in for one heck of a ride with Batman and that this episode wasn't the strongest episode to end this season out out on in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Batman: Caped Crusader SPOILER FILLED Review

It's safe to say that when it was first announced that when one of the masterminds behind Batman: The Animated Series was returning to work on another animated series for The Dark Knight that alot of people were really excited. Even more so when it turns out that this show was intended to be the spiritual successor to Batman: The Animated Series and well the new show is finally here and you all just knew that I had to check this show out the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my spoiler filled review of the show that sees Batman take on foes in the nineteen forties with the show in question being called simply just "Batman: Caped Crusader" enjoy.

The plot of this show is when Batman makes a mistake during one of his cases a chain reaction happens all throughout the underworld of Gotham City one that will see batman pushed to his very limits. Now then interms of what I personally thought  felt about thew actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I inn all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty not that bad as it is a plot that does allow for a more serialized story but at the same time also act as an anthology series as well with reach episode only being very loosely connected to one another and still have certain story elements to pass over over from one episode to another something which does make this show standout from alot of the other Batman animated TV shows out there and it's something that does work in the context of this show asl well with the plot of this show also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Bonilla as Renée Montoya , Bumper Robinson as Lucius Fox , Gary Anthony Williams as Arnold Flass and Iggy , Haley Joel Osment as Anton Knight , John DiMaggio as Harvey Bullock , Jerry and Wilford Lee and Cedric Yarbrough as Rupert Thorne.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty not that bad. With all of the actors that you expect a good performance from really delivering on the acting side of things but at the same time the acting from certain actors like Jamie Chung and Jason Watkins to name but a few not really being that good not that there bad on there own right because there not but when you have them acting against other actors that we know can really turn in a good performance there performance comes of as being the weaker of the performances with the acting that's in this show really being helped by the script for this show show which is just so good that all this shows cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written as good performance will come out them naturally which is something that really does help the overall quality of the acting that's in this very show.

Doing the animation for this show is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Studio IAM and Studio Grida. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty really good with the show having some really good looking 2D animation that does look like that it came right out of the nineteen forties but at the same time this show does make more use of 3D CGI that does stand out a mile as it's something that does look really bad and it's something that Batman: The Animation Series never did as they knew that it really would clash with ere art style and it's same thing here as having 3D CGI even if it's just used for backgrounds does standout a mile ad it's something that really does take you out of any given episode of the show and while the shows 2D animation does indeed look really good with all of the characters having really some decent designs that some people might disagree with and other may like the character designs the characters do also have some really nice fluid movements to them as well.

Believe it or not this show was subject to two very minor controversies before it premiered the first one of which was the fact that they changed Harley Quinn to an Indian American and the second of which was the fact that the show features a gender swapped version of The Penguin. Well after watching all ten episodes those issues aren't an issue as both characters are handled really well and while yes Oswalda Cobblepot / The Penguin is the better of the two villains simply because of the fact that she's the more fun villain this new version of Harley Quinn is quite creepy with there being  role reversal in Harley's personality as her super villain self is usually portrayed as being more cartoony and funny with her civilian self being the more serious of the two where as with this is show it's the opposite that's true and while there will always be a soft side for the original Harley Quinn this new version of the character does come across as being quite creepy at times and while she only appears in full on Harley Quinn costume for one episode the character does appear in a first few episodes which made her fall in episode five all the more dramatic.

One of the very things that this show does get wrong is the relationship between Bruce Wayne and Alfred. As Alfred and Bruce should always be characters who are close to each other as afterall Alfred was the one who raised Bruce up after the death of his parents and yet in this show Bruce acts really cold to Alfred even just calling him Pennyworth all the time which is something that the character wouldn't do as he views Alfred as being his father figure and the one person that he really trusts the most in Gotham and yet in this show he basically treats him as if he's stranger even referring to him as the help in one episode which is something that just doesn't sit right as it's not in his character to do so this is something that wouldn't be an issue if Bruce had a story arc where he learns to be closer to Alfred over the course of these first ten episodes but he doesn't and as a result of that is the fact that we get a relationship that is fundamentally broken when in not only Batman: The Animated Series but in alot of other Batman media it wasn't broken as all you have to is use some logic and that's really all there is to it and while yes Bruce does finally call him Alfred at the end of the shows tenth episode by then it's something that's to little to late and it's nothing really something that feels earned and more like something that the makers of the show felt like that had to do.

The main storyline in this first batch of episodes revolves around Harvey Dent's descent into madness eventually ending up with him becoming Two-Face at the end of the show's eighth episode. While this plot line was done alot better in Batman: The Animated Series as the writing in that show was alot better then the writing that's in this show it is still something that's done really well and it is something that shows that the makers of this show really do fully understand these characters and this world even on the most basic of levels and because of that is the fact that even tho his storyline in this first batch of episodes isn't given alot of focus as it is something that really only appears in a handful episodes and even then acts more as a B plot to the episode it is still a storyline that's rather effective and works really well but it is something that should have been given alot more of s focus instead of it just being the B plot to most episodes which really is a bit of an issue considering the fact that his storyline forms the basis of the shows final three episodes and yet because of how little care and attention that's it's gotten it feels really more of an after thought.

Now then this first batch of episodes has / had an exact grand total running time of no longer then twenty seven minuets. With each episode having a running time of roughly anywhere between twenty four to twenty six minuets of running time which is something that really does work well for this first batch of episodes as the show doesn't really have alot of there interms of plot and while they do tease a big villain for season two this first batch of episodes spends alot of it's running time in giving us information about the characters ad about this new version of Gotham City and even in setting up things that don't pay off until the shows final few episodes but because you don' really notice them as there done in a way that feels natural and organic you don't really pay attention to them which is something that does work well enough in this shows favor but at the same time tho alot of the running time could have been spent on developing the relationship between Bruce and Alfred as that is something that is key to the Batman character and yet because there's no time dedicated to there relationship it doesn't feel earned when Bruce does finally call him Alfred at the end of the shows tenth episode but I will admit that all of these episodes really do have some really good pacing to them tho.

So now then as this is ah action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty not that bad. As it is something that does place into the whole nineteen forties aspect of the show but at the same time then action that's in this shoe isn't as good as it really could have been either with alot of it just coming across as being rather dull and boring alot of the time and yet when the action does get intense and exciting it's more often then not the best action of the whole entire show with the best example of this being the action at the end of the episode as it's Batman taking on The Penguin and her goons on top of a cruise ship with The Penguin trying to launch this missile at the Gotham City Police Department which is a simple thing but it's effective as it ends tension and it adds stakes to the scene instead of just being an action just for the sake of there being an action scene in the episode in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this is a show that while it isn't as good as Batman: The Animated Series was it is still a really good show and one that has all of the potential there to be a really good show if the show can stick the landing whenever it's second batch of episodes does eventually end up being released in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.
