Sailor Moon 1994 TV Pilot Review

For every pilot episode that does somehow manage to spawn a future TV series there are dozens that don't. With even more failing to even make it to air in the first place as is the case with the pilot that i'm about to review for you all today heck for many decades this pilot was even thought to be lost forever and nothing more then a myth that was until 2022 when Youtuber Ray Mona did a two part video just about the pilot and shockingly actually got permission to upload the full pilot of this truly weird show and so then join me as I review the pilot episode of a show that thankfully never even made it to series with the show in question being called simply just "Sailor Moon" enjoy.

I really do wish that I could tell you what the actual plot of this pilot episode even was but the pilot itself has no plot to speak off. I'm not kidding either when I say that as during the whole ten minuets that this pilot lasts there's nothing regarding an actual story sure there's something about a school dance but that gets dropped pretty quickly for the girls to be able to fly off into space to defend Jupiter for no reason and this is the first of the pilots many problems as it has no plot to speak and so the pilot is robbed of a reason for exiting in my freaking opinions anyways / at lesst.

Starring in this episode is Stephanie Dicker as Victoria / Sailor Moon and Melinda "Mindy" Cowan as Sailor Mercury. Also starring in this episode is Danny "Dani" DeLacey as Sailor Mars , Tami-Adrian George as Sailor Jupiter , She-Ra: Princess Of Power star Melendy Britt as The Voice Of Luna , Batman: The Animated Series star Adrienne Barbeau as Queen Serenity and Queen Beryl and Patricia Alice Albrecht as The Narrator.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty pretty OK at best. As the acting in the live action segments was on par with the acting in Power Rangers and the acting that we got in the animated segments was really alot better then what it really had any right to be but it doesn't help that this episodes script was just flat out bad with one of the characters having alot of personality to begin with.

Doing the animation as far as I can tell is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Toonmakers. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad with this episodes animation being very choppy in alot of places which just makes the whole animated part of the episode come across as being really rather cheap looking.

Saban and those involved with making this show chose to go the Power Rangers route when it came to adapting Sailor Moon. Except instead of filming new American live action footage and dub over live action action scenes they instead chose to make this show an animation and live action hybrid show with the scenes in earth being done in love action and all of the scenes in spaces and the episodes action scenes being done in animation which is just very jarring and really isn't the right approach to take with Sailor Moon granted the Power Rangers approach wouldn't work with Sailor Moon anyway in which case they should have either chosen to just do it in fully live action or to just it in animation but not both.

The Power Rangers approach to making a show was a very common thing for Saban to do in the early nineties. With alot of their shows from Masked Rider to Beetleborgs all using that exact same approach however both of those shows are adapted from properties where that kind of approach is very doable this show however isn't as you can quite clearly see the heroes faces all the time and so it would be impossible for this kind of show making to work with Sailor Moon and where as Power Rangers fully embraced it's cheesiness this episode doesn't which oddly makes it more fun to watch as everything is being played straight and while Saban didn't work on this pilot it's not hard to see their influence all over this pilot episode.

I have to give thanks for Youtuber Ray Mona for going to the lengths that she went to in order to find this lost piece of media. However not only did she find the episode itself which is still really commendable she also managed to find out who was in the episode with their still being some unknown names like for example we still don't know who played Prince Darian and Sailor Venus which means they could be some very well known actors and actresses and we wouldn't know and while I can see why they wouldn't want it known that they starred in this pilot as it is that bad it would still be pretty cool to have a complete cast list for this episode.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly ten minuets and seventeen seconds. Which even for a pilot episode is still a really short amount of time and while i'm sure that this pilot would have expanded upon if the show went to series as it is all it does is leave us with a really rushed episode where things move at such a fast pace that it doesn't leave us long to get a good sense of who these characters are and what their personalities are both which are things that could have been fixed if the pilot was a standerd twenty two minuets long and I will say that this episode has some really bad pacing to it as well.

So now then as this is an action episode that means that I gave to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty not that bad. With this episodes action being the kind of action that you'd expect to see in a kid nineties animated kids TV show and really nothing more then that which does make the action look pretty dated but it also makes the action look really creative as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this show is so bad that it makes the Japanese live action Sailor Moon TV show look good by comparison and that show really isn't all that good either at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very episode in this very review and as such that means that this very episode earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 1.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Sailor Moon fandom wiki page , the official Power Rangers fandom wiki page , Wikipedia and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the really wonderful Google Images as since all of the images that are currently up and featured / presented to us up and on the really great and really wonderful on Google Images are all really fairly high in quality and as well as them all being all really fairly freaking high in definition.

Sailor Moon Live Action TV Series "I Am Sailor Moon!" Review

I've reviewed plenty of bad movies and episodes of TV shows in my time but none of them have made me laugh as hard as the episode that i'm about to review for you all today. As yes this episode is just that bad and is just that cheep looking that it makes the 1993 Saban produced Sailor Moon pilot episode look good by comparison and so then join me as I review the first episode of the TV show that really does need to be seen to be believed with the episode in question being called simply just "I Am Sailor Moon!" enjoy.

The plot of this episode is when her best friends mother is attacked by a monster Usagi Tsukino must find the courage to transform into superhero Sailor Moon and save the day once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really bad with this episodes plot just being heartless and soulless and entertaining but not in a good way at all in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this episode is Kamen Rider star Miyuu Sawai as Usagi Tsukino / Sailor Moon and Ayaka Komatsu as Minako Aino / Sailor V. Also starring in this episode is Jouji Shibue as Mamoru Chiba / Tuxedo Mask , Aya Sugimoto as Queen Beryl , Keiko Han as The Voice Of Luna , Chieko Ochi as Naru Osaka , Naoki Takeshi as Shingo Tsukino , Tomoko Otakara as Haruna Sakurada , Noriko Watanabe as Mayumi Osaka , Kaori Moriwaka as Ikuko Tsukino and Jun Masuo as Jadeite.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty alot better then it really had any right to be. As all of this episodes cast are quite clearly trying to turn in a good performance but the issue is tho is that this episodes script just doesn't give the cast anything to work with interms of what their respective characters personalities even are and so they can't really turn in that good of a performance as this episodes just simply won't allow for it.

Doing the CGI for this episode is Motor/lieZ , Nippon Effect Center , Nippon Eizo Creative and Tokusatsu Kenkyujo. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode was in all honesty really bad even for a mid 2000's TV show this episodes CGI is just really bad with Luna herself really looking a character in a Playstation 2 videogame cut scene at best.

This episode does of course try to start the romance between Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask which wasn't really that badly done in this episode. Granted they don't really spend alot of time in this episode heck they only have two scenes together in the whole entire episode but what little screen time that they do have together does does do a fairly solid job of setting up their romance together and while I would have liked it if they did send more time together in this episode by doing so they wouldn't really have alot if any time left to set up Sailor Moon herself as a character as the episode would have to set up the romance and the plot of the episode.

The one word that I can use to describe not only this episode but the show as a whole is cheap because the whole episode just looks very cheap looking. Say what you will about the Saban pilot episode for their version of Sailor Moon bu you can see where all of the money went in that episode here on the other hand from the cheap looking sets to the cheap looking costumes and to the cheap looking CGI it's hard to tell where alot of the money went as the whole thing just looks like a cheesy soap opera that just so happens to have a superhero as it's main character and it doesn't look like an actual superhero show in the slightest.

For those of you that don't know this show aired from October 4th 2003 and it lasted all the way until September 25th 2004. With the show airing on Chubu-Nippon Broadcasting the show itself had forty nine episodes along with four direct to DVD episodes , three direct to DVD specials with the fourth direct to DVD special from what I can tell being a concert film and so to say that this show lasted a long time would be a huge understatement as they got alt of this show and that's fair enough as Sailor Moon was and still is a very popular brand in Japan but at the same time I have to wonder why they were pushing this show to the moon when they still the hugely popular and successful anime just sitting their doing nothing.

Now then this episode has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly twenty four minuets and twenty two seconds. Which is the perfect running time for this episode to have as this episode really doesn't have alot their interms of either plot or story to cover a large amount of running time but while this episode does have a really solid running time I would have liked it if this episode was slightly longer just so they can just flesh out some of the characters a bit more but granted this was only the first episode and you can't really expect the characters to be fully three dimensional after just one episode and I will admit that this episode does have some rather solid pacing to it.

So now then since this is an action show that means that I have to actually talk about the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very episode well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual action that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad. With this episode making quite clear when there using a stunt double and not to mention this episodes action also looks really cheap and is very horribly edited together with them using so many cuts that it's hard to work out what's actually going on and top of that the episodes action just looks amateurish in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really bad first episode and when the foundations of the show are bad it doesn't matter how good the rest of the show is because the show is just going collapse in on itself in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all the good and as well as all of the bad things that are this very episode in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very episode really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 3.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Sailor Moon fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website that I personally preferred to use to get the images that I personally used in this very review being the really wonderful Google Images as since all of the images that are currently up and featured / presented to us up and on the really great and wonderful on Google Images are all really fairly high in quality and as well as being all really fairly freaking high in definition.

Sailor Moon Eternal Part 1 Dubbed Film Review

Anime fans it's been a long time since i've last spoken about an anime and well as luck would have it there just so happened to be a new two part anime film out this week on Netflix. I want it known right now at the start of this review that just because i'm reviewing part 1 of this film doesn't necessarily mean that i'll watch and review part 2 since yeah this film really didn't make me want to watch part 2 and so join me as I review the film that is actually the first sailor Moon feature length film to be released to Japanese theatres in twenty six years with the film in question being called simply just "Sailor Moon Eternal Part 1" enjoy.

The plot of this film is an evil circus has come to town with all of the circus acts turning peoples dreams into nightmares and so it's up the Sailor Scouts / Sailor Guardians to stop the evil circus before the evil circus takes over the world. In terms of what I personally thought about the plot of this film in all honesty I thought the plot of this film was pretty decent  but at the same time it was hard to make out what the actual plot of the film was since the actual plot of this film is so weak that at times it straight up disappears from the movie and not helping things is the fact that the plot really just feels like something that you'd see in an episode of the show and not something that you'd want to see in a full length theatrically released Sailor Moon movie.

Starring in this film is Amanda C. Miller as Makoto Kino / Sailor Jupiter and Cherami Leigh as Minako Aino / Sailor Venus. Also starring in this film is Cristina Vee as Rei Hino / Sailor Mars  , Kate Higgins as Ami Mizuno / Sailor Mercury , Robbie Daymond as Mamoru Chiba / Tuxedo Mask , Sandy Fox as Chibiusa Tsukino / Sailor Chibi Moon , Stephanie Sheh as Usagi Tsukino / Sailor Moon , John Eric Bentley as Tiger's Eye , Johnny Yong Bosch as Artemis , Kelly Baskin as Deimos , Kelly Baskin as Deimos and Debi Derryberry as Diana.

As you can no doubt work out by who I have listed as starring in this film and from the actual title of this review I will be basing this review of the dubbed version of this film and so in terms of what I thought about the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film in all honesty the acting that's featured / presented to us in this film isn't that bad. Since alot of the actors that are starring in this film are reprising their roles from I believe the Viz Media dub of Sailor Moon and so the actors know what performance would best suit / fit their character and it really does help that the actors that are starring in this film are generally really good actors and are generally really good voice actors.

Doing the animation for both parts of this two part film are Studio DEEN and Toei Animation and well I honestly did like the animation in this film. Since for me at least in this film visually looked like that it was a huge step up in quality form the animation that we saw in Sailor Moon Crystal and for me to say that is truly shocking because the animation that was featured / presented to us in Sailor Moon Crystal was already really freaking good and so for this movie to have higher quality animation really is a good thing in my opinion any ways / at least.

Now then this film and part 2 of this film are the basically the fourth season of Sailor Moon Crystal which honestly does somewhat explain one of the major issues that I have with this film but i'll get into that later on in this very review. I can honestly see why they wanted to adapt Sailor Moon Crystal for a feature length film since Sailor Moon Crystal was from what I can remember at least a really good show but just because the show itself was good doesn't mean that the movie adaptation of the show is good and sadly this film in my opinion anyways / at least isn't that freaking good but that's just what I think anyways and that's just in my very humble and as well as being in my very honest opinion anyways.

I will give this film this it does a good job of making what could be very annoying characters seem somehow actually likeable. Since characters like Chibiusa or even Usagi Tsukino AKA Sailor Moon herself could be very annoying characters if they are in the wrong hands however here I felt that the characters in this film were really written even if you could see each plot point for each respective character coming a mile away.

The tricky task with any TV show that's being turned into a film is that the film adaptation of the TV show has to not feel like an extended episode of the show and that's sadly something is an issue with this film.  Since this film really does feel like an extended episode of Sailor Moon Crystal since this film plot points for each characters seemingly every twenty minuets or so all the while falling into the exact same pitfalls that alot of if not all two part films fall into since this film is basically a feature length trailer for part 2.

This film has a total running time of one hour and twenty one minuets and twenty three seconds and trust me when I tell you that you feel every second of it. Since even tho the pacing of this film is fine with scenes not lasting any longer then they need to what makes this film boring is the repetitive nature of the film's plot and as such I do very strongly feel that if this film had a less repetitive plot then the film could have been very entertaining but as it is I personally found this film to be so freaking dull that it's unreal how dull this film actually was to me personally.

Now then boys and girls this film is listed on IMDB as being an action film and so that means that I have to talk about all of the action that's featured / resented to us in the actual film itself and well if i;;m being honest the comedy and the action that's featured / presented to us in this film are the most entertaining part of this film. Which really isn't saying much since most of this film is pretty freaking dull as a rock in my opinion anyways / at least and so having action that's very entertaining isn't going to be a high bar to reach but sadly there isn't enough action in this action film which is a shame because when we do get an action sequence it is very entertaining.

Overall this was honestly a pretty film in my opinion anyways but at the same time i can see die hard Sailor Moon or even die hard Sailor Moon Crystal fans enjoying this movie but tho just due to how bad I thought that this film was i'm not going to be checking out Part 2. Now then since i've talked about both of the good and as well as both of the bad things that are in this film in this very review that means that this film gets a score of a 5 out of 10 from me.

As for where I got all of the images that I used in this very review well then boys and girls and ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom wiki page , the official Sailor Moon fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personal preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images just simply due / down to the fact that Google Images has alot of images from this film and alot of the images that are on Google Images are fairly high quality and as well as being fairly high definition.

My Idea For An American Live Action Version Of Sailor Moon

Guys and girls very rarely do I get an idea that's so strong and so original that I just have to start writing about it that very second. Well today is one of those days because for no reason what so ever I started thinking about a live action version of Sailor Moon and then I got to thinking about what an American live action version of Sailor Moon could be and what it could possibly look like and so here we go and i'm going to apologise right now if this post seems all over the place i've not really thought this post through all the way and so i've not really organised it at all if i'm being freaking honest.

PLOT

For the sake of my own sanity i'm going to be using the English names for the cast just because those are the names that alot of people are going to know them by. My idea for the plot would basically follow that of the first season of the show with Serena gradually meeting up with the other Sailor Scouts altho this time to avoid the fact that her transformation involves her being naked and wearing a short skirt all of the scout will be aged aged up and will be going to the same college and will take the same approach of The Flash with a new big bad every season with Queen Beryl being the first big bad.

I feel that for the first several episodes we shouldn't have the sailor scouts come together just because it would be a bad move in terms of developing their characters and character traits. Instead each of the scouts will be fighting crime on there own but each of the villains that they face will be connected to Queen Beryl who is trying to destroy the earth and she won't just be attacking this ne city either she'll be attacking the whole world with more Sailor Scouts from all over the world defeating her and i'll explain more about why there's some in the same college soon.

CHARACTERS

Now I said that there's going to be more Sailor Scouts well that would make the series feel more epic and how they find out about each other is through telepathy. In other words they can talk to each other using mental abilities and it goes without saying but the same characters from the anime / manga will be in this show and there names would be unchanged this show will also see the debut of Sailor Venus who shall be given the name of either Kate or Sarah.

Since I haven't watched the original dub of the show I can't say what there personalities are like and so I can't say if they'll be changed or not. However I do think that for the first season at least the team shouldn't work well together with there personalities clashing with each other all the time which could lead them into more deadly citations and will force them to work together and thus the character development could come more naturally.

SIDE CHARACTERS

Now what i'm about to say will make more sense later on when I mention what network I think that this show should air on. There will be side characters in this film ranging from both students and college professors alike who will form team Sailor Scout each of these characters will have an ability that helps the team out in one way or another and each of these side characters will have there own subplots that will converge in the finale.

This is the one case where the setting actually allows for a team of friends to help the main heroes out while at the same time not taking away from the main heroes or main story. I personally wouldn't go down the route of having one of the professors have a relationship with one of the students just because that's cliche as hell to do instead a romance would be hinted at however the student will be to call it off after the professor is nearly killed due to there actions and that's when we have the moment that all superhero shows and films have where they realise that they have to make sacrifices in order to save the ones they love.

NETWORK

Now I know that this is going to put alot of people of but I honestly feel that the best place for this show to air is honestly The CW. Simply because there record with producing superhero shows that are very high quality on a TV budget is really good and that's what each season of this would be a superhero movie but done as a TV show , plus there superhero shows always have great effects which a show like this is always going to have there's just no getting around it.

The only real drawback that I can see is that they would want a romance angle which is something that I would want to try and avoid. Simply due to the fact that not all shows need a romance however if one was to come up naturally through story and character progression then I wouldn't be opposed to seeing it happen but I wouldn't want a romance just for the sake of having one in there and yes this does mean no Tuxedo Mask / Serena romance at least not for the first few seasons at least.

AMOUNT OF SEASONS

Since this is The CW you know that this show is going to last for quite a while since they renew every show they broadcast the trouble is when do you call a show like this quits. Well for me the answer is simple you do it when there's no more character development left to do so if that means it gets cancelled after three seasons then so be the story and development of the characters should always come first and if that means ending a show at it's peak then so be it that's when it ends.

Speaking of the amount of season that the show could have the amount of episodes is also fairly key as well since you couldn't really this a twenty two episode per season show. So you'd have to cut it down to about twelve per season since then you could make the best twelve episodes of that season instead of making several OK episodes which is something that alot of shows don't seem to do yes there are shows like Doctor Who which only make a handful of episodes per season but then there are shows like The Flash which make only a handful of good episodes and several OK episodes.

So there we go guys and girls that was my idea for an American produced live action Sailor Moon show yes I know alot of what I said isn't going to go over well with people but given the costumes and how short the skirts are as well as the characters being naked during the transformations alot of changes had to made. Again i'm sorry for my thoughts being all over the place but that's only because I had to get this idea out there and so I didn't have the time to collect my thoughts and organise them and I also wouldn't make this show woke at all both men and women would be treated as equals.
